We have three mini pinscher dogs that we have rescued. I hope to scrap thier unique and very colorfulp ersonalities and histories sometime, but for now my greatest inspiration comes from my kids. I am just so inspired by a good photograph! I see stories bursting from behind the pixels and I feel a need to scrap those stories! I have NEVER posted anything before anywhere and am looking forward (though a bit nervous) to posting some of my layouts. I have gone digital in the past year and am becoming more and more comfortable with Adobe every day! My layouts are mostly about the photo, and about the story behind them. I am also completely inspired by quotes! I have been collecting quotes since I was in elementary school and have many blank books filled with them! When I find the perfect quote to match a photo - now that is alittle slice of heaven! I am looking forward to meeting some friends here! I don't have a lot of scrapping friends here in CT! Hope to hear from you soon!

New Do Monday 3/24/08

So, I did it!  I cut my hair.  I donated 10 inches to Locks of Love.  Why? I guess for several reasons.  First, I had always thought that Locks of Love was such a wonderful organization, that I decided if my hair was ever long enough I would donate it.  My hair has NEVER been long enough, that is, before now.  About 6 months ago, I realized that it was getting there, and if I could hold out a little bit more, I would be able to donate.  I wasn't ready to cut it yet anyway, so that was okay with me.  I have had fun having long hair - I hadn't ever had my hair this long before.  But then about a month or so ago, I started getting tired of it.  Long hair is deceiving: It looks easy but it is no different than shorter hair (except that it is longer hahahaha).  It takes forever to dry, and even longer to style.  I found I was wearing it in a ponytail most days, and that got boring.  What was my second reason? My best friend passed away almost 2 years ago, and I wanted to donate my hair in her memory.  If she had survived brain surgery, I was going to shave my head in solidarity (she had no idea).  She was such an amazing person - always helping others, volunteering in soup kitchens, and with different organizations, I thought this would be a perfect way to honor her memory, by giving something of myself.  Sooo, it kind of all came together quite easily, as if it was meant to be.  Here are some before and after pics.  I hope your journey today was as special as mine was.

busy monday 3/17/08

Here we are Monday again. So did anyone watch I Can Make You Thin last night on TLC? Very interesting.  I am going to give it a try.  I usually crave food all week long and then eat whatever I want on Saturday, but then that spills into Sunday and then Monday I have a hard time getting back on the horse.  I like the concept that no food is taboo, but you can only eat when you are physically hungry.  I think he is going to talk about emotional eating next week, which is huge for me and I know for many women out there.  I only want to lose about 5 pounds and people act like that is no big deal, but it is to me, so that is that!  I do run every other day and do abs, etc.  I love to run.  I did a scrapbook page about my runs, I wonder if I have ever posted it, if not I will.  It has this great quote from one of the Traveling Pants books by Ann Brasharres.  I love quotes they totally inspire me.  So do greeting cards.  That where I got the idea for me Nobody’s Grass layout.  It was an anniversary card.

So I just went running and then ate Lucky Charms, but stopped when I was full.  It felt weird to eat that, but that is what I wanted and I am going to follow this for a couple of weeks.  I have also just taken a class on EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique.  I think he is going to talk about tit next week on the show, coincidently.  Some of it was bizarre, but I liked some of it.  I love the saying “Take What you need and leave the rest.” I feel so comfortable doing that, so I don’t have to buy into every bit of EFT but I am very curious what this show will do with it next week.  I have heard it has been used very successfully on weight loss.   I think the website for EFT is www.emofree.com, if you are interested.  I don’t even know who I am speaking to ha-ha.  Did anyone see the TLC show last night? I would love to hear what you think!  I have to do the typical Monday things today – food shop, etc.  I need to take a shower and get my but in gear  - it is almost 12 noon! I still have 3 orders to finish and I want to scrap so badly!   Hopefully I will get to soon. Still figuring out the Mac thing.  So far so good.  Good bye HP good riddens Dell.  I have been working on setting up my website for Enjoy eh Journey.  I would eventually like to have a shopping cart on there but I think that is several months away, if not longer.  Okay time to shower.  You can probably smell me from here!  LOL

Hope you enjoy your journey today!

tuesday 3/4/08

okay, BIG news: I actually found a bathing suit today!!! Wooohooo!  It was in my favorite store, of course,  and that would be MACY'S.  I am a tried and true macy's girl.  It was my first job in high school, and then I worked there after college...Going to herald square in New york city is like visiting the holy land!  it's the mother ship!  unfortunetly, I don't get there too often, but the macy's stores in ct arent't too shabby.  OKay, anyway, we are going to arizona in april and I didn't want to wait till the last minute to shop for a suit, and I really needed a new one, so I went today.  I got a black and white tankini top, a black bottom, and a black and white bikini top for when I am feeling really brave (or insane LOL).  I am looking forward to Sedona - I love spending vacation time with the famly and this is going to be a really special trip, including the grand canyon.  I hope the kids love it.

Last Saturday, we took the kids to a hockey game at Yale.  They were playing my alma mater, Union, aka the flying dutchmen! Go U!  I had so much fun with Robert - he brought his ipod (big surprise) and we shared the headphones (each of us took an earpiece) and listened to his music.  So much of it we both like...and we had fun singing and joking around. He kept stealing my winter hat and I kept stealing his baseball hat.  Then we shard a huge bag of sour patch kids!  I really treasure those moments, moments so fleeting yet so precious.

Tuesdays are busy for us, so I am just chilling.  Adam and Bill are already sleeping and Robert is talking to his friend on the phone.  I just realised I am sitting here by myself - I don't really remember anybody leaving! haha

The silence is nice though - I don't think I will make it past 10 pm.  I went running this morning (finally got up to 2.5 miles and am working my way back to 3.5!) Tomorrow I am going to the movies RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY!  It feels very decadent and I feel guilty about it, but I am going to see 27 Dresses with 2 of my friends at noon.  hey, why not? I just have to keep telling myself I deserve a break...and hopefuly someday soon I'll believe it!

pleasant journeys to all!

busy monday 3/3/08

Well here I am again and it feels great to be back so soon!  Today was a pretty fun day - ran some errands, and met with a friend to talk about robert's bar mitzvah.  so many details and I am so not a pay-attention-to-details kinda girl haha.  I know it will be really nice and everything will come together in the end, and it isn't until september.  I can't believe he's almost 13.  when did THAT happen???

Here is a pic of me "spying" on him heehee he is already taller han me, which I guess isn't saying much since I am only 5 feet tall!

but he is just loving that fact!

this little camera in my computer is fun - you can distort your face and stuff.  Look at this one:

and here is a funny one of my husband Bill.  He looks like a conehead from Saturday Night Live!

okay this is the last one for tonight, I took it in the Apple Store;

so funny! anyway today I am thankful for small funny moments like these.  they weave a web of bigger memories, though everyday in nature, that I carry with me long after they are over.

enjoy your night!

sunday 3/2/08

where has the time gone??  it has been a MONTH since I wrote on this blog, wow.  can't seem to wrap my arms around a month just disappearing.  I guess this is how amnesiacs feel, lol.  Things have been HECTIC to say the least, with acquiring a new computer, and switching to a Mac from a PC, at the top of the list of ways to eat up my time.  so far so good, though, I am truly in love with this computer! everything about it is easier, from the minute you turn it on, though I have yet to try photoshop on it, so that will be a huge test.  It has this cool thing called photobooth where you can take pics of yourself and distort them.  I'm going to try to upload some into my blog, if I can remember how!

kids, hubby have been good, adam turned 8 a few week ago. all h wanted was legos and he was very happy to open them on his bday.  we have yet t have his kid party yet - that comes this sunday at the indoor baseball place - he is so excited and I am so excited for him.

Robert is growing up so fast.  he wants so much freedom, and it is hard to figure out the correct amount.  I think I just have to follow my heart.  I hear different things form different parents, and it is sooo hard to say no, but that is my job right now.  I am obviously not going to be the most popular one in town, but that isn't what is important right now.  It is so hard letting go, but I know I am giving him a great set of wings with which to fly someday.

okay I'm going to try to import that pic.  I think I want to scrap some, too, they came out soo funny!  Have a great day and hope you all are enjoying the journey!

okay forget it for tonight, i'll try tomorrow!

night night!

aaaah saturday 2/2/08

AAAAH Saturday. It could not have come soon enough! With hubby gone all week and a snow day yesterday, I was ready to commit myself! The kids were bouncing off the walls yesterday. It was freezing rain so they couldn’t even play outside. This is how the day went:
1.     Kids wrestle
2.     Mom says stop.
3.     Kids continue to wrestle.
4.     One kid gets hurt (WOW!!!BIG SURPRISE!!!)
5.     They cry to me that the other one hurt him on purpose.
6.     Mom explains that if you choose to wrestle, someone will get hurt. If you don’t want to get hurt, don’t wrestle.
7.     There is a BRIEF cooling off period.
8.     Kids wrestle.
9.     Repeat….again and again.
Sooo, as you can imagine I was really excited to go out to lunch with my BFF Nicole. She had a sick 3 year old hanging on her all week, so she was equally ecstatic to leave the house. We went to Chili’s for lunch and we were there for a WHILE. The waitress came over several times to ask if we needed anything. Yeah, we need to blab for about another hour or so.
Now I am home feeling much better, though Adam is watching sponge bob which is like nails to a blackboard as far as I’m concerned. It’s funny for about 5 seconds.
Tomorrow is the super bowl.   Pops (father in law) is coming over to make sauce. This will be the definite highlight of my day. Talk about comfort food! Can’t wait to see all the commercials, hope they are good ones. Wonder who is playing at half time…okay hope everyone had a great journey today! Bye for now!

yummy thursday 1/31/08

I am sitting here on the couch with my boy Adam.  He is watching TV and I am perusing this website.  I just noticed how close he is sitting next to me.  He’s practically on top of me – with his head on my shoulder.  I just want to savor this moment.  It is absolutely delish!

Thursday 1/31/08

Thursday, and I am already sitting in my scraproom at 9:30 am.  I am totally impressed with myself.  LOL

Today, I’ll be working on some valentine’s books to bring to a “Mom’s Night In” party next week. (I am going to use DCWV’s new All Dressed Up paper.)   There will be about 5 vendors: Mary Kay, Silpada, etc.  I hope it is worth my time, you never know with these things.  I am looking for a fun night out anyway, so that will be worth it’s weight in gold!  Hubby comes home tomorrow, been gone all week, maybe that is why I am soo tired!  The kids have been great – last night they argued a bit, but other than that they have been fun.  Last night we watched American Idol and cracked up at the funny people.  Sometimes I think people want to be on tv, and know they can’t sing.  They just CAN’T be serious!!

Adam came into my bed last night.  He had a bad dream – something about a man throwing him in a sandbox.  We both laughed this morning, because we were thinking about how much scarier things are at night than in the day.  He said, “But mommy, my head was stuck in the sand, with my feet in the air dangling!”  That image made me laugh even more.

Robert comes home around 3pm.  I love it because he comes right up to my office and starts his homework while I am working in here.  We kid around and act silly.  It’s a wonderful hour we have to ourselves before Adam comes home at 4pm, and then it gets a little crazier! I hope you all have a wonderful day enjoying your journey!

so lucky sunday 1/27/08

I am looking at photos of our trip to Yankee stadium this past summer, and it struck me what an incredible bond the three “boys” in my life have.  Bill is such an amazing dad, and the love they share of baseball is so strong!  I went along for the ride, but the best part of the trip for me (besides the Italian ice) was watching them interact with each other from afar.  I don’t think I’ll ever get enough of that.  See my page I created with these photos in the digi gallery, and thanks for looking!

Today, I am totally enjoying the journey!

saturday 1/26/08

So it is Saturday afternoon – already! I had a really busy week creating albums for customers, and am creatively pooped!   I finished a 12 x 12 baby album, and an 11 x 8.5 baby naming album.  They both came out beautiful, I was really happy with both of them.  I have to create another 11 x 8.5 baby album by Feb 7th, and I have  a scrapbook birthday party for a nine year girl, and then I am free to create for myself for a while!  This morning, I actually started working on an index file for my customers’ addresses.  I created a chipboard tab for every letter, and started covering each piece with cardstock.  It has a real “rickety” and worn out feel, because I cut each piece of chipboard individually, so they are all a bit lop-sided and uneven.  Just like I am LOL.  I love things that are mismatched and worn.  It conveys something that has been enjoyed for so long that it is falling apart at the seams!  Those are the things that I treasure so much!   Hopefully, this customer address file I am creating will continue to get worn from use – and added to as my business grows!  I covered the front and the back of each letter tab, and then sanded around the edges.  I used the LilyKate collection from Basic Grey, so feminine and vintage!  So I do feel ahead of the game right now, though I really don’t want to admit that, because the sky tends to cave in when I say things like that ha-ha.    I will post a photo of it on my blog when it is done, hopefully next week.

Last night I went to a Stampin’ Up workshop.  Talk about creativity.  My girlfriend Brenda, the Stampin” Up! Rep, comes up with the most beautiful and unique ways to use stamps.  She sets up stations around her home and you move from station to station creating 2 of every design.  I ended up with 10 gorgeous heart-inspired cards.  I love the way their products translate into scrapbooking, too.  I use their stamps and punches on many of my layouts.  They have this one set, and it is all definitions of words – “happy”, “memories”, etc.   I just got them last Dec. and I can’t even count how many times I have used them already – and there are about 28 of them! They kind of remind me of Making Memories definitions.  Anyway, I had quite the creating day yesterday – worked all day on the baby album and then went to the workshop, and didn’t get home until after midnight.  Hubby let me sleep in this morning - almost till 11 am whoa! I was pooped!

As I said, I love Stampin’ Up! Products for scrapbooking as well.  I created a 12 x 12 layout using their chocolate paper and turquoise cardstock.  I will post it on the gallery – it will be the first non-digi layout I post.  I just have to take it out of the frame and photograph it first! LOL

What are some of your favorite scrapbooking supplies? Any that aren’t traditionally used for scrapping? I would love to hear about it!  Thanks for reading and have an ENJOYable weekend!
