WSW13 Creating with the Unused Before Stamp (s)

The challenge that I am offering came about as a result of a topic recently on the board.  Using Unused Stamps (UUS)

When uploading your project please use:  WSW 13  UUS.

The challenge is to use a stamp or stamps that you have never used before - these need to be stamps that you purchased prior to 2013 and have never used.  If you are new to stamping during 2013 - that would be the onlyl exception and you must state that in your remarks

The sample I am posting has a stamp from a Stamping Up set that I bought last summer at a garage sale and I have not used any of the set since purchase, however, for some reason it was laying on the floor of my craft room this morning and I saw potential in it.

I really like it.

Thank you for taking part in my challenge and please leave remarks on my post in the message board.  I ill be uploading my sample this a.m.

This challenge will run until the end of the Fest.

WF13 Foil Challenge

For this project, you'll need to gather the following:

cardboard... I used various sized- but wanted room to mat under it before playing it on a card. leaves,

die cuts from circuit, sizzix, big shot, cuttlebug embossing , lace, etc. ... really anything flat with some sort of texture ( I used an artifical thin leaves (as fresh dried leaves were not available and a circuit die cut for my projects - would like to try a Cuttlebug embossing folder image.

3M Spray Glue (glue sticks) The directions called for the 3M Spray Glue - to hold the textured item to the cardboard and then a second spray over both the cardboard and the textured item before you add the foil, to hold everything in place.

inexpensive aluminum foil

$1 a can matte black spray paint found at Home Depot ... seriously, you want the cheap stuff (this works so well - other colors could be used as well, I think.) Also Shoe polish might work instead of the spray paint - I tried the bottle with applicator for another project, you let it sit for a bit and then wipe off - not sure you get as good a coverage.

0000 steel wool

Technique: 1. Take your piece of cardboard cut to the size you want.

2.Then lightly spray the glue on the cardboard.

3. Lay your textured item on the sticky board textured side up. ( with leaves you will want the vein side up.

4. Spray the cardboard again.

5. Lay a piece of tin foil over the cardboard shiny side up. Turn over and fold foil to the back

6. Use finger to rub the surface of the board and reveal the texture underneath.

7. Spray with the cheapo spray and let completely dry

8. Rub the spray paint off to reveal the textured item underneath.

9. Using the softest of steel wool, burnished the reliefs. Can burnish the boards completely or what areas you want.

10. If you accidentaly rub to hard and tear the foil it can be glued gently back in place Or repaired by using a black or silver sharpie to camouflage the tear.

11. Turn your foiled image into a card or other project

12. Please include some stamping - stamping on foil can be tricky - but if you do and it doesn’t work well - rub off immediately

I have never offered a challenge that had so many details to making it - so please feel free to ask questions. I love the cards that I created and the one of the boy fishing will be used in a scrapbook for my grandson. The details may seem long, but it really doesn’t take long to create the image, I had more trouble finding the papers to use to finish the card off.

WF 12 Border Punches (WF12 BP)

WF 12 Border Punches (WF12 BP)

Update to Challenge:

Challenge will run from today the 11th thru the 19th.

Please link your gallery upload back to this message board as well as to the blog

There are several makers of border punches, but don't fear, if you do not own any of these - then regular punches can be used by making punches in a straight line on your paper and then adhering to the card. I have used my angel punch to make a border of angel - but am not showing a sample of that when I upload.

Pleae use two or more border punches.
