Making Mondays better...

Mondays can be rough.  After a weekend of play and leisure, getting back into the swing of things sometimes requires more than just a strong cup of coffee (for this girl anyway).  That's why when we decided to begin a weekly release of Garden Girl projects on Mondays, it made me think this particular day of the week might not be so bad after all.

Nothing like a brand-new, scrappy batch of designer projects to inspire and get one going.   Look out each Monday for a release in the Designer Garden section and begin your week with something good. smiley

Congrats to last week's randomly chosen winner ScrappySaraJane - a prize will be sent to you shortly!

(and my apologies, sara...i believe i butchered your username in the video - maybe next time i'll have someone hold up a sign behind the camera with the username written in giant letters to ensure I say it correctly? LOL!)

a two peas moment

you know GeekPea?  if so, you probably know jeffrey is co-founder & president of Two Peas in a Bucket, as well as husband to kristina/Pea1...

but did you know that he's quite the prankster?

many of you who know kitty from our weekly "what's hot in the warehouse" videos might be interested to learn just one of the many ornery schemes he's pulled.  i should preface this by saying kitty has a reputation for playfully honking her car horn (multiple times in a row) as her way of telling us goodbye when we all scoot out the door for the day.  jeff replaced her car horn with one that bellows "aaaaooooooooogggahh!" heehee! needless to say, she was surprised!

that is just one example.  i could go on for awhile.

instead, i'll share just one other - a typical two peas moment.  jeff was helping me sync my calendar (many exciting events planned, by the way!) to whatever it is that helps me magically coordinate events with coworkers, and then entered these tasks:

he entered this next one and sent it as an iCal invitation to Rob, our Director of Marketing (who happens to have very good hygiene, by the way).  he was a good sport about it.  although, i'm not sure how he'll feel about me posting this...shhhh!  don't tell!

Mark your calendars - our next online crop!

Kick off your weekend with our September Online Crop! Join Garden Girls Jen Gallacher, Jen Martakis & Jen Johner on the Garden Girl Message Board for scheduled hour-long chats (you can join even if your name isn't Jen!). There will be challenges + prizes, of course! The fun doesn't end when the chats are over, you'll have all weekend to scrap and enter the challenges. :) Here is the chat schedule all in CST:

Jen Gallacher 7-8 pm

Jen Martakis 8-9 pm

Jen Johner 9-10 pm

see you then!

Edited to add: For those who are wondering how an online crop works...basically, the Garden Girls host hour-long chats where you can discuss anything and everything (this is found on the Garden Girl message board.  To join in on a chat, just click 'post reply' when viewing the thread.  The chats move quickly, so be prepared to type fast!)  If you have questions about what time the chats are in your time zone, I would use a time zone converter like this one.

They also post creative challenges on the Garden Girl blog to jumpstart your creativity.  Another good thing about challenges is it gives you a chance to win one of the prize packs sponsored by Two Peas!  A challenge could be to use a sketch or a certain color combo (you'll just have to wait and see! wink).  Once you create your entry for the challenge, you are ready to upload it to the member gallery (hover over 'member gallery' and click on 'upload new project.'  The site will guide you from there - it will ask you if your upload is part of a challenge - you'll want to click the checkbox for the challenge you're entering!)

The crop is a night to chat and scrap - some chat and scrap at the same time, some chat and scrap later, or some just scrap and enter the challenges.  You have the whole weekend to participate in the challenge and upload it to the gallery.

Last but not least...you earn a badge for your profile when posting to the Garden Girl message board during the scheduled chats.

I hope that answers any questions you may have!

a Two Peas moment

have you met shari?  she's one of the girls pulling your Two Peas orders.  she brought in her roller skates after the warehouse girls had a conversation one day around the question: "If the wait staff at Sonic can work on roller skates, why can't we pull orders wearing them?"  she's fun.  smiley

I'm excited to share...

...the NEW challenge homepage featuring the weekly, vendor, class & member challenges.  Have you check it out yet?

Find it here!

Below each challenge you'll find the date it's running.

Our marketing director Rob has a calendar FULL of upcoming vendor challenges.  Keep an eye out for more opportunities to win - they will be posted soon!  And now, they are easy to find in one location - no longer are they posted only on a blog.  Say goodbye to scrolling down!  Super easy!

Class challenges are now displayed in one easy-to-find location!

Members challenges have not been left out - they too will display on this homepage!  You'll still use the blog feature to create the challenge, but the most recent challenges will display here too.  When you click "view all," you'll be taken to the master list.

And now...one of my favorite parts -  A CALENDAR!  Each challenge category has its own color.  The start and end dates to a weekly, vendor or class challenge are highlighted in its appropriate color.  Click on any date to see what's currently running, as well as the start and end dates.

Kevin, the new developer who has just joined our team of techy-geeks might have been a little frightened by my enthusiasm that he's here.  He developed the calendar.  And I came close to smothering him with a hug.  I kept my cool though. :)
