This Week's Project Videos 11.30.2012
Here's our weekly round up of class videos. Enjoy and happy Friday!
Memory Keeping Monday | Geotag Travel Review by Nancy Damiano
From Nancy, "This is an “in review” page with a collection of photos from a recent vacation. My son could be found in or near the water throughout this vacation. That gave me the idea to use a Geotag symbol to show the “where” in this story.
Symbols are used throughout the page with the geotags, arrows and even longitude and latitude coordinates. I used a combination of Pebbles Seen and Noted collection along with glitter border stickers from Ki Memories to create this bold and bright layout. TFL!" ...see supplies and challenge here.
The Adventures of Glitter Girl | Adventure 048: Demanding Die Cuts
From Shimelle, "This week Glitter Girl takes on the challenge of background die-cuts, either cut with an electronic cutter or premade like the KI Memories cardstock lace product, inspired by this discussion on the general scrapping board..."
Finally Friday | Santa's Cards & Holiday Packaging
From Julie, "I love making special Christmas cards for those closest to me. In this Finally Friday video tutorial, I'll show you how to pull together some of your favorite embellishments to make a card that even Santa would love to receive! I'll also show you how to dress up some simple packaging supplies to make the presentation just as festive as the card inside."...see supplies and challenge here.

This Week's Project Videos 11.22.2012
It's time for another weekly class round-up! And don't forget we have our Black Friday sale running now through Monday - so many of your favorites are at 40% off. Happy shopping!
Memory Keeping Monday | My Favorite by Jen Gallacher
"For this “Memory Keeping Monday” project and video, I challenged myself to stretch a collection kit by using several unique techniques. A collection kit typically includes patterned paper, alpha and/or element stickers. Some manufacturers also include additional embellishments. Read the product descriptions before purchasing so you know exactly what you're getting in the kit.
To stretch this “For the Record 2: Documented” kit from Echo Park Paper, I die cut the paper, created flags from the stickers, cut banner shapes from the paper, and layered and cut stickers to fit my theme." ...see supplies and challenge here.
The Adventures of Glitter Girl | Episode 047 Make Something Snappy
"This week Glitter Girl takes on the challenge of using a line like Simple Stories Sn@p, designed for divided page protectors, and putting those accents to use on a standard 12x12 page, inspired by this discussion [twopeasinabucket.com] on the General Scrapbooking board. The first part of her adventure takes a look at these products, including Sn@p and the new Photo Freedom collections from Echo Park, then the second part of her adventure shows the creation of the scrapbook page, from start to finish. (Building the layout starts at 8:30 in the video.)
Come along for the adventure, won't you?" ...see supplies and challenge here.
Finally Friday | Beautiful Person by Kandis Smith
From Kandis, "I love this paper pad by BasicGrey called Konnichiwa–full of bright colors and bold floral patterns! Added in some Prima flowers and some Studio Calico stamps to create this all occasion card! Come watch my video and see how to make it!" ...see supplies and challenge here.
Have a great Friday everyone! - Jamie

November Gardeners' Digest Blog Hop
It's a good day to have a blog hop, isn't it?! Pour yourself your favorite beverage, get comfy and be ready to catch a creative bug as we hop through the blogs of our Design Team.
Not only do we have Garden Girl projects to share just around the corner (look for a new batch each Monday), but ideas are bubbling up for what the next year will hold for Two Peas.
We're playing around with thoughts for new videos, new classes, new blog series - the whole shebang. We're dreaming and scribbling and gulping caffeine. Have something you'd like to see from us? Please tell us in the comments! We'd love to hear.
It's the most wonderful time of the year...to stock up on seasonal supplies! New products are pouring in all the time, and I'm having a hard time focusing on my work when I venture out to the warehouse. Here are the five products that have caught my eye as of late:
Sn@p Binder Albums, Evalicious badges, Printable Journaling Cards by Hello Forever, Gold Glitter Tape by American Crafts, Triangles Tree Stamp by Hero Arts
...all of the December Daily albums we are seeing in the gallery and on the web! We've created a Pinterest board here to pin the inspiration we're seeing:
And speaking of December Daily albums, we've got a new workshop out from mini album expert, Amy Heller: Seasonal Storytelling! She's not only equipping you with ideas for your holiday albums this Christmas, but inviting you to create albums you love for EVERY other season of the year. And we're giving away a spot to one lucky Pea!
Just leave a comment below with your Two Peas username and you could win! We'll draw a winner and announce it on the blog next Tuesday the 27th. Good luck!

2012 : CAPTURED TUTORIAL WITH LISA TRUESDELL : JOURNALING CARD MAKEOVERS
Good morning!! My 2012 : Captured class for November went up on the 15th, and this month, it's all about the fun Project Life friendly lines that have been popping up.
I love using premade journaling cards, but they're not always a perfect fit for what i want to use them for. Here are a couple of quick ways to alter those cards to make them work for you!
(supplies : patterned paper : journaling cards - Elle's Studio (pink), Technique Tuesday/Ali Edwards (gray); Dear Lizzy (aqua), Studio Calico (gray); stamps - Amy Tangerine (date + icons); vellum arrow - Twine and Ink; heart stickers - Studio Calico; washi - KI Memories)
MAKEOVER #1 :
The title on this card is a perfect fit with my photo, but if I place the photo at the bottom of the card so it doesn't cover the tab with words, the card looks cramped and I don't have much room for journaling or other accents.
Using an xacto knife, I carefully cut around the edge of the tab and slipped my photo under it. As an added bonus, I love that this adds a little dimension, as well as the look of an added layer. I then finished the card with some patterned paper and a heart stickers.
MAKEOVER #2 : I love the colors and design of this card, but the words didn't fit the photos I wanted to use with it.
I added a punched circle, an arrow, a little washi tape and a stamped car and house, and now this card is a perfect match for my photos.
I hope this inspires you to look at your journaling cards in a new way! -Lisa

This & That Christmas Paper from Echo Park
Reindeer Games from Lily Bee
Stamps for those who like to play with a little ink:

Stickers are a great choice in this busy season - just peel and slap them on!
Stencil Number Stickers by Jenni Bowlin
Christmas Countdown Stickers from Simple Stories
Chipboard adds some interesting dimension:
Numbers Alterable Alphas by Jenni Bowlin
And who doesn't love a product they can use over and over? Digital brushes:

This Week's Project Videos 11.16.2012
Another reason to love Friday - all of this week's class videos, all in one place!
Memory Keeping Monday | You & Me by Lisa Truesdell
From Lisa, "For this week's Memory Keeping Monday, I'm switching things up and using a divided page protector instead of making a traditional layout. This is a great way to summarize those “too big for a layout” events and get them into your album. I'll likely do a mini album of this trip sooner or later, but in the meantime (or in case I never get around to it!), I'm glad to have these photos in my album. I added this page to my Project Life book, but you could mix it in with traditional LOs if you aren't a PLer. =)" ...see more here.
The Adventures of Glitter Girl | Episode 046 Out of Season Sensibility
From Shimelle, "This week Glitter Girl returns to a previous question with a seasonal twist, as a bit of a holiday sequel to the Out of the Box adventure [twopeasinabucket.com]. This week's adventure takes her through product options for creating a page with a classic Christmas look but without Christmas products, then at the ten minute mark the adventure moves into creating that page from start to finish. Come along for the adventure, won't you?" ...see more here.
From Laura, "Hey peas! So excited to have another Finally Friday video to share with you all :) I love love love making Christmas cards, and couldn't resist getting my stash started. I used the Awesome LilyBee Christmas Cheer line for the patterned papers, and the sticker sentiment.
The huge rub-on is by Basic Grey, and is FUZZY!!! I love it :) If however you wanted to mass produce a similar card there is also a stamp with the same image linked below. Grab some red embossing powder, and you would be set to go." ...see more here.

Good morning, Peas! Lexi here today with my first post, sharing an easy tutorial for Thanksgiving place cards. It's hard to believe that in almost a week we will be gathering with family and friends, enjoying a meal that hopefully looks more appealing that the Griswold's. (I really hope you get that reference, otherwise this post may be my last!)
These place cards are made easy by using my Cameo. The design is simple enough that you could easily create something similar freehand style with scissors.
I love washi tape. It's no secret. I will use it anytime I can. These mini clothespins are a great example. It's so easy to lay the washi tape right on them and trim to fit, totally changing the look. Here I used Freckled Fawn's woodgrain and gold star tape and October Afternoon's date tape.
I cut out an acorn shape with my Cameo using Crate Paper's Pistachio Market paper . I love that one side has several designs and colors so it makes the acorn look almost pieced together. The heart is simply flipped over to the B side of the paper for a contrasting look. A scrap of gold paper makes for an unexpected cap. This Meadowlark paper from American Crafts would also look so pretty.
The tag is cut from Pebbles' Take Note paper. A shipping tag would also be cute. I added a few ink splatters because I like the look using October Afternoon's Token sprinkler. I found a great old ledger book at a thrift store several years ago so pieces frequently pop up in my projects. Here I used it for little name flags. If you don't happen to have old ledger paper you can find several versions in the shop including this one by 7gypsies and this one by Echo Park.
I added some stitching because I just can't NOT add it in some way. I feel like it helps finish off the tag.
You can see I added some dimensional adhesive to the acorn cap. Just gives it a little extra something.
I clipped the clothespins to a mini pumpkin stem and there you have it--simple, easy, crafty Thanksgiving place cards. If these showed up at my house for Thanksgiving I could see myself snagging one to scrapbook ;) If you aren't hosting Thanksgiving it might be a fun little something to make to bring to your host. Maybe along with a pie :)
Thanks for joining me today and Happy Thanksgiving!

This Week's Project Videos 11.9.2012
Welcome to the weekend, friends! Here is a round-up of this week's classes + videos.
Memory Keeping Monday | "Sweet Party" with Shannon Tidwell
From Shannon, "Hi there! I'm happy to jump in this week for Nancy since she's been without power because of ‘Sandy’. Hoping she'll be up and running for you soon! In the meantime I am going to share a layout and video with you.
This month one of our theme prompts is ‘In Review’. I happened to have these fun little Instagram photo grids on my desk and thought they would make a great review layout. I know, I've already done a layout for this party (and I'm sure I'll do more), but for this layout I'm concentrating just on the decor items.
I've had these fun little number clips from Studio Calico and have been itching to use them. And wouldn't you know the polaroid frames from the new Dear Lizzy paper fits the photos perfectly?! You could easily scraplift this layout for any theme that fits the occasion.
Please take a look at the video and watch the layout come together from beginning to end!" ...see supplies and challenge here.
The Adventures of Glitter Girl | Episode 045: Vexed by Vellum
From Shimelle, "This week Glitter Girl tackles the resurgence of vellum for scrapbook pages, inspired by this discussion [twopeasinabucket.com] on the General Scrapping message board. Her adventure takes her through a discussion of vellum products and their uses then through the creation of a new scrapbook page featuring a vellum pocket and printed vellum from the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan collection." ...see supplies and challenge here.
Come along for the adventure, won't you?
We apologize there will not be a Finally Friday card/video this week; we will resume with our weekly schedule next Friday! But we won't leave you inspiration-less! Here is a card that caught our eye in the gallery today. Confetti cards by evapizarrov:
Happy Friday! See you tomorrow with a fresh batch of challenges. :)

Today Guest Blogger Anya is sharing how she adapted the December Daily album concept into making a mini book all about her summer. We love her style and adaptation - and what's more, this could be applied to any season of the year! Here is Anya...
---
I've been joining Ali Edwards and hundreds of other scrapbookers in December Daily challenge for three years and I always loved it. This year, I really wanted to highlight our summer in a separate mini album. I wanted it to be a project of its own. I wasn't going to make a page for every day of the summer, but wanted to highlight some little everyday moments that would bring memories back when we look through the book. I have about 30 pages all together in it.
For the longest time I wanted to add sewing to my mini books but didn't know a good way to do it, since sewing shows on the other side. So I came up with an idea that solves that problem - folded page. I started with a 12x12 pattern paper and trimmed four inches off the top:
I added lined paper to each side of my page for easy journaling, and punched holes:
Identifying those little stories, picking out a photo and arranging it with a little pattern paper to make it more fun was my favorite part of the project:
After adding a photo, I stitched around white paper on all of my pages, and randomly added more stitching on other elements of design:
Since most of my design happened to be on the outside edge of the page, I used a piece of paper to glue inside the folded page, which served two purposes - it gave the book a little more even shape and reinforced the holes:
Here are a few more pages from the album:
I also added a kraft envelope to the album:
It includes some memorabilia like a drawing from my four year old or a note from my teen, or a business card from the place where we ate:
I wanted this project to be quick and easy, so I'm adding a hand written journaling to the book, unlike any of my other projects.
---
Thank you so much for giving us an inside look at your amazing album, Anya! Check out Anya's blog, My Creative Corner, as well as her Two Peas gallery for more fun ideas and inspiration!

Vivian Keh here today, totally jazzed about guest blogging for Two Peas! In addition to being a great source for my supplies, Two Peas is my daily virtual escape where inspiration and gorgeous projects abound. Today, I want to share with you a bit of my own inspiration with details of how I made the tag below. The simple techniques which I utilized have brought me much grungy joy in recent projects, and I hope you'll give them a try, too!
Die-cut a tag from a neutral sheet of cardstock. Note that most of the pattern will not ultimately be visible in the final project. Lightly paint the tag with gesso, making sure to leave random areas of the paper underneath exposed. By doing this, you create interesting variegations in the ability of paper surface to absorb the media you will later apply.
Once the gesso dries, prepare your surface for heat embossing by wiping the tag with an anti-static pillow. If you don't have one, you can also use a dryer sheet - this prevents embossing powder from sticking in undesirable places.
If you've never heat embossed, it's quite easy, and no matter how many times I do it, I always experience a child's wonderment as I watch my project transform under my heat tool's blast! To heat emboss, stamp with a nice, sticky watermark ink, sprinkle with embossing powder, tap off the excess, and heat using a craft heat tool.
Here I used a bold Hampton Art/7 Gypsies Harlequin Background Wood Stamp to create some geometric background shapes that will balance a striking, organic composition. When your heat tool has done its magic, you are left with your stamped pattern...
The pattern will now resist the application of various mists/spritzes you choose to apply. Since clear embossing powder was used, the patterns underneath will also be retained. Next, adhere your die-cut chipboard shapes using a strong adhesive - I used hot glue with butterflies I had cut from an old box .
Various mixed media books and magazines encourage the use of masking tape in various ways - it's a great, affordable way to add texture to your project. I love wrinkling it up as shown and arranging the ragged strips to create a sense of movement in my projects.
After lightly applying gesso and allowing it to dry...
... it's time to spritz!
Do you see how the color pools on top of the resist that I created? This ought to be carefully daubed off using a tissue to reveal your beautiful pattern.
I've been playing with my hot glue gun, and wanted to see how liquids would settle around vascular patterns I created with this under-appreciated tool.
After the hot glue dried, I shoved the nozzle of a copper colored mist right up into the most gnarled areas and sprayed. This way, the effect was not diffused, but concentrated. I then tilted the tag to guide the beautiful liquids down the crevices my wrinkled masking tape had created.
Finally, to exaggerate these organic textures, I highlighted the raised areas with pigment inks and added my text, which I had also die-cut and painted.
Once all was dry, I added a bit more stamping, and voila!
I am delighted to have blogged with you here today, and hope that I was able to inspire you to try out some of these simple techniques! Until next time. -Vivian

Who's ready to get messy with their supplies and play?! You can find more inspiration from Vivian on her blog and from her Two Peas gallery. Thank you so much for sharing these techniques with us, Vivian!

If you love soaking up the special moments each season brings, then you will love how Amy and her contributors share creative ways of documenting them! Scroll down for your chance to win a spot in this new class.
---
Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn. Each season brings about its own wonderful and memorable moments for us all. Perhaps Winter, when celebrating Christmas or Hannukah and the New Year, is your most memorable time of the year. Or maybe it is Spring when your family celebrates a number of birthdays, or you love preparing your garden and celebrating Easter. Then there is Summer - full of outdoor activities, 4th of July, camping and family vacations. And of course, Autumn with the beginning of school, the glorious changing of nature’s color, bountiful harvests, Halloween and Thanksgiving. When you break the year up into seasons, there certainly are plenty of stories worth telling!
In Seasonal Storytelling: Mini Books for Sharing Each Season’s Special Memories, we break down the year into the four seasons. This provides a naturally broadened perspective through which to document your special memories. Because of this broadened view, we introduce you to four different approaches to creating seasonal mini albums - Events & Traditions, Timeframes, On-the-Go and Reflections. With each chapter, we will focus on a different season and share two of these four approaches for tackling that season to create a mini book filled with a memories that fits your lifestyle, your scrapping habits and your style of creating.
Showcasing eight different and unique mini albums filled with over 100 pages of ideas, Seasonal Storytelling covers each of the seasons, throughout four chapters. Every chapter contains a printable PDF containing two beautifully crafted mini albums along with a coordinating video. Also included are two exclusive printable journaling cards used as the base for one of the mini albums featured in the workshop.

Right now it's painted a serene aqua and accented with mostly brown-black furniture. I love this large Expedit desk from IKEA. It's wide enough that I can work and my son can sit on the other side and do his homework.
In the Expedit are plastic trays by Display Dynamics that I've had for years. These hold my patterned paper by current collections. When I first get a collection, I will keep the embellishments together with the patterned paper. Once I've used the collection, I move the embellishments into the dark brown fabric bins. All of my storage is open because I tend to forget what I have if I don't constantly "see" it. Cardstock is stored in galvanized bins that I found at Home Depot.
I have two white Making Memories wall shelves that hold older embellishments, paints and tags. The long, narrow desk underneath stores my sewing machine, Silhouette and printer.
This bookcase holds odds and ends, alphabets, alterable items and ribbon. When I work I face the door and this sign. It reminds me - KEEP CALM - and sometimes I really need that!
This
space is definitely a constant work in progress. I was just thinking
that I might like to have some closed storage. I feel a remodel coming
on this Spring!

This Week's Class Videos: 11.2.12
Happy Friday, Peas! Let's take a look at what classes and videos went up this week:
Memory Keeping Monday | Heard On a Disney Cruise with Nancy
From Nancy: This page is a collection of some of things heard
on our recent Disney Cruise. I got the idea after seeing these wood
veneer bubbles from Studio Calico. I love all of the different
sentiments and shapes. Remember that you can customize this page for
“things heard at” any of the places you've visited. . . see supplies and challenge here!
The Adventures of Glitter Girl | Episode 044: Ribbons at the Ready
From Shimelle: This week Glitter Girl hopes to keep you from drowning in an abandoned ribbon collection, inspired by this discussion
[twopeasinabucket.com] on the General Scrapping message board. Her
adventure takes her through a new page plus a few other ideas to file
away for a rainy day.
Looking for more ribbon ideas? Check out Glitter Girl's ribbon picks on this pin board [pinterest.com].
Scroll
below to find supplies for this project and Glitter Girl's suggestions
for other options in different colours and patterns. . . see supplies and challenge here!
Come along for the adventure won't you?
Finally Friday | Be Merry with Julie
From Julie: I love making one-of-a-kind holiday cards for the people closest to me. I like to pile on the embellishments until the card is almost a gift in itself! ;) For this week's Finally Friday card tutorial, I'll show you how to create a festive card full of fun surprises. . . see supplies and challenge here!
Have a great weekend! We'll see you tomorrow with a new round of challenges from the Garden Girls!
