Scrap Challenge | Grab Your Scissors with Shannon Tidwell

Projects-1dc6ad94-e455-43fc-90b4-5fed106c214b-57bbe21e08b3413c96eb00dd7ba85c52

From Shannon, "This layout is about how great it is that when we look back at days/events/times we primarily remember the good. Even the ‘rough’ becomes good memories. This day at the zoo was pretty miserable…but we still came away with happy memories and at least one good picture.:)

Grab your scissors for this week's challenge! Notice those little triangle notches on the background of my page? Such an easy little accent that adds a fun touch to the page. Grab your scissors and do a little cutting on your page….whether it's the background, accent paper, or even the photo…see what you can do! I backed my notches with patterned paper and then machine stitched around them. Hand cutting adds personalization and personality to your page!"

Memory Keeping Monday | Sushi by Shannon Tidwell

Projects-15ec7557-ae05-493a-9790-d765351a946e-e777dea98f574f8a8d2653034161500f

From Shannon, "Hi & Welcome to Memory Keeping Monday! This week it's my turn to share a layout with you…I will be focusing on using tools. I admit, I'm a bit of a tool junkie. Even though they can be a large investment you can use them for years and years. Some of the tools I use in my video I've had for quite a while. Even though the exact one I'm using isn't available I've linked several great replacements.

I started my layout with the tool of all tools, the Silhouette. I had an idea for repeating my title in different sizes, but with different neutral papers. With that starting idea I let the layout come together as I went. Using the circle cutter was a spur of the moment decision…so glad it worked! Since the base of my layout was so neutral I had fun adding in bright splashes of color around the page in small doses. The orange thread was still in my sewing machine…so I went with it!

  Projects-15ec7557-ae05-493a-9790-d765351a946e-edd07753a9f04a1aaf3c812ea194e467

I hope you enjoy watching the layout come together. A small note about my process…I think I've mentioned before that I don't naturally scrap with the finished product in mind. I start with an idea and let the layout come together from there. So my style is a little harder to video but I'd rather share my natural process than trying to work backwards. So you'll see a bit of indecision…moving things around…fixing goof-ups….but that's scrapbooking!  Enjoy!"

The Adventures of Glitter Girl | Episode 026 Doable Doubles

Projects-71650ad8-a4d3-4266-adf2-191f4677a670-308ecafd06ac4b71bbe944525bdeafd4

Projects-71650ad8-a4d3-4266-adf2-191f4677a670-a6a1339d6dc340e3bb0bdbae8fc1ed55

From Shimelle, "This week Glitter Girl extends single page sketches to double page layouts, something being discussed here on the general scrapbooking message board. Her adventure takes her through the creation of a two page layout with four 4x6 photos, starting with this single page sketchmeant for two photos.

Come along for the adventure, won't you?"

Finally Friday | Call Me Maybe by Laura Craigie

Projects-2183831a-9aa5-4a9f-a4e1-376f28cfaead-7bc0c88bd6cd408da2e41a2d0c993a4c

From Laura, "I'm so happy that's its my turn for Finally Friday again, and I had a bit of silly fun with the sentiment. I just can't get that song out of my head :)  I mixed up papers from Studio Calico Abroad collection, and Basic Grey PB&J. Then I added a bunch of October Afternoon goodies including the awesome rotary stamp.  The sentiment is made with Pebbles Thickers, and Lily Bee alpha stickers.

You guys have been giving me a great response to really seeing my process, and not just step by step instructions, so this video is no different, flubs and all. ;)"

Thanks for watching!

Product Spotlight with Amy Heller

Productspotlight

Hi there, Peas! It’s Amy Heller here today and I thought I would share some of my favorite products from the shop!

I recently overheard some chatter on the General Scrappin’ message board about wood elements and if they were taking over bare chipboard as the new dimensional product for scrapping.  My reaction to that was that I didn’t think it was – as I think they are totally different products. Even though both are similar in some ways – they are customizeable, and dimensional, I think wood pieces are much more versatile.

It’s no secret I love these fun little embellishments. So, I thought I would share some ways that the Peas are using wood embellishments in their projects, and also show you how many manufacturers are coming up with new, innovative ways of taking this fun, organic material and creating products for just about any project you may want to create.

Screen Shot 2012-06-26 at 11.32.49 AM

I love this sample by Sophie Crespy and how she left the wood natural, but added patterned paper behind the “lenses” of these adorable wood cameras from Studio Calico. Super fun, and a great way of adding color and neutrals at the same time!

Screen Shot 2012-06-26 at 11.33.33 AM

Prima Marketing is bringing a vast range of wooden products into their offerings, most of which are printed on and in loads of beautiful color-ways to coordinate with their collections. Some examples are their fabulous wooden buttons. This gorgeous example, from fellow Garden Girl, Jill Sprott shows how bringing in just a few of these fun darlings adds lots of texture, depth and interest to a page. Love it!

Screen Shot 2012-06-26 at 11.44.14 AM

My Mind’s Eye has brought in a wide range of both bare and printed wooden pieces, that are equally exciting! The neat thing about their wood pieces is they are substantially larger than some of the other pieces that are on the market and can really make a beautiful statement on a page. I just LOVE this page from Pea, Aleksandra Gadji, and  how beautifully she used this oversized wooden butterfly for her layout. It’s just gorgeous, don’t you think? The large wooden butterfly is simply the perfect touch for this light and airy page, with just the right amount of texture and thickness to make it pop off her lovely work.

Screen Shot 2012-06-26 at 11.46.39 AM

Jillibean Soup has gotten into the wood-act, too, with banners and wooden buttons. These multi-packs of sentiments are just perfect for card makers. I love this card, from Garden Girl, Kimber McGray. How darling is that banner hanging down vertically from this horizontal card? These sets of banners certainly make mass cardmaking simple and fun with an unexpected twist of these wooden embellishments!

Screen Shot 2012-06-26 at 11.48.46 AM

American Crafts has introduced a wide range of wooden clothespins under several of their umbrella brands – Crate, American Crafts and Pebbles. All with different colors, sizes and patterns, and all equally fun! I just love how Pea, Melissa Elsner, used these cute clothespins to “hang” her journaling frames and tags. Super clever and just so much fun!

Screen Shot 2012-06-26 at 11.50.09 AM

What if you just want some random little wood bits to add to your pages? These absolutely adorable BINGO pieces from Crate Paper are just the thing. Talk about darling! I just LOVE how Piradee Talvana used these pieces on each of her tags here. It really looks like a mini album to me, and these little baubles can go a long way for mini album pages! Perfect!

Screen Shot 2012-06-26 at 11.53.35 AM

Last up, I thought I’d share one of my favorite uses for these wonderful wood pieces, alphabet letters along with colored mists! This sample from Roree Rumph is just spectacular and I LOVE how she misted these letters to get a customized look for her page. With the bare wood pieces you can do so much, paint, mist, stamp, just about anything on these versatile and beautiful embellishments for your pages and cards.

Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope you enjoyed learning about some of these fun wood products that are in the shop right now, and are just as inspired by what the Peas have created with them, as I am! I can’t wait to play with my wood pieces the next time I sit down to scrap and hope you do, too! ;)  - Amy Heller

Fourth of July inspiration at Two Peas!

Patriotic_middle_size

Good morning, Peas!  Summer is in full swing and here in the states we'll be celebrating the 4th of July next week.  Today we've pooled together some Garden Girl projects and helpful links to get you jumpstarted on all your patriotic projects!

Projects-da48372e-c29c-49c4-876f-be2cec8841c9-b6ad04ffee12487da9e3142f294a647f

Snap Happy by Lisa Truesdell

From Lisa, "...just another untraditional holiday page from me. ;) i seem to have a major aversion to using traditional colors for things like this. i really like the starburst MME paper, so i started with a bit of that - it had a very “firework-y” feel to me. i paired it with neutrals, a smidge of yellow and a pop of red."  See supplies.

Projects-feeb5371-6dc1-41ba-838d-bb29aa6d00cc-ffb7cb424e7843b4939c97dab6174e51

Fourth of July by Jill Sprott

From Jill, "There are lots of ways of celebrating the Fourth of July. In our family, it usually involves a barbecue, a few games, and the hallowed American pastime of blowing stuff up in the driveway. I had a little fun with the journaling on this page, linking the antics of the kids to a few of their “rights” and “freedoms.”

I used the Jenni Bowlin Wren collection here, which may not scream “Fourth of July!” when you initially see it, but it really is an all-American collection. As I discovered while creating this page, it's actually perfect for Fourth of July layouts..."  Continue to read more + see supplies.

July 4th Card Set by Kandis Smith

From Kandis, "I never really send out 4th of July cards, but my family lives so far away that I'm thinking about doing it this year. I started out with some paper from We Are Memory Keepers–I loved the 4th of July themed journaling tags. I also used some Maya Road kraft tags and doilies. Added in some bling and some star stickers. Simple but fun! :)"  See supplies.

Independence Day by Jen Gallacher

From Jen, "I wanted to create a 4th of July layout from more than one collection. I kind of knew in my head some of the elements I wanted to incorporate: stars, flags, bling, banners. I shopped my stash from there and combined several collections for this final layout.

I love how the tape fills the empty space in the upper left corner. I cut one of the pages from the Heidi Swapp album. I layered two star stickers on top of one another. I create my own blue flag to match the Pebbles one I already owned. And I cut my title with my Silhouette machine.

It's a simple, layered layout about my darling niece whom I adore."  See supplies.

Thank You for Your Service by Julie Campbell

From Julie, "This is a card I made to say “thank you” to our service men & women (and military spouses as well.)  I was super excited to discover that the Instagram frame from the exclusive Studio Calico stamp set perfectly framed the date die cut I had from My Mind's Eye. The “Somewhere” paper from Studio Calico's Abroad collection is lined with state text, making it a fun background for a patriotic card."  See supplies.

This Week's Challenges 6.23.2012

Thisweek'schallenges

The Garden Girls have a new scrap, photo and card challenge for you this week!

Remember each challenge gives you a chance to win a $5 gift certificate, as well as earns you a badge for your Two Peas profile page.  Just click on the title of each challenge for details on how to enter, and scroll down to see last week's winners!

Weekly Scrap Challenge: Scraplift a Garden Girl with Amy Heller

Scrapchallenge623

From Amy, "This week I'm bringing you a really fun challenge - scrap lift a Garden Girl!! I couldn't wait to do this challenge myself, as I'm constantly inspired by the GG's!!
For my challenge piece I chose this stunning page from Jaime Warren found here.

Projects-2f10b17c-9103-4ed8-b668-ee61f29f7160-f942fda6c12148ee8602d8b8ad55a402

I took some liberties with the basic design of the strong horizontal line of small photos and one horizontal photos as my overriding inspiration. I also loved the little banner she created in the bottom left corner - so I did something similar with stars for my 4th of July themed page. I also loved the light blue background she used and decided to keep with that beautiful look for mine as well."

Weekly Photo Challenge: Splash with Kandis Smith

Projects-3d1de59d-db13-4c91-b6f6-57a492063216-1f69aaacf9b743689750d5cedad0b8c2

From Kandis, "Now that summer is coming, we are going to get a TON of water photo opportunities! I love this little splash park at the mall–my boys had so much fun running through it and laughing at everyone getting soaked! This week your challenge is to take a picture focused on splashing. You get to interpret it however you want. It could even be bath photos if the weather isn't nice."

Saturday Card Sketch 6.23.2012

6232012

From Kimber, "I know, chevrons again… I've seen a few variations on making your own zig zags and wanted to try to make them with triangles. They were easy!!! All I did was punch squares and cut them in 1/2. Then all you do is offset the triangles. Give it a try! This is an easy sketch to try this technique with. I can't wait to see what you create!"

Memory Keeping Monday | Bored by Jen Gallacher

Projects-247add22-ade8-4e34-994a-bab40b52c19a-62ae99dda9b847e19118c8fa72ec685f

From Jen, "Welcome to this edition of Memory Keeping Monday. This month we're focusing on tools. We all have basic tools in our stash: paper cutters, scissors, punches, stamps, and the list goes on. Get out your basics and have some fun making a layout with simple tools.

I stamped the kraft cardstock to create the background paper. I punched clouds from paper and attached them to long sticks. I cut diagonal banners with my paper cutter. And I added a bookplate with a paper piercer. There's so many things you can do with what you already own.

Staycation by Jill Sprott

A grid design with bold colors capture the adventurous feel of this layout by Jill.  Notice the way she's customized her wooden accents with paint and mist, and the range of photos that she's captured to help tell her story.  What you eat, where you stay, what you do and what you see are all great photo prompts for when traveling.

This is Why by Amy Heller

Amy uses travel-themed motifs to help reinforce her from-the-heart journaling.  Crop in on an area of your photo you'd like to emphasize and save another version to help add focus to your subject.  A variety of textures, including those fun little wooden envelopes, add interest to this already captivating page.

I Want to Go There by Amy Tan

A stack of letter stickers in a rainbow of colors matted by a map pattern make for an energetic and cool composition.  Amy didn't bother with a photo on this page; what thoughts are you wanting to record without the use of a photo?

Vancouver 2012 by Wilna Furstenberg

Wilna takes advantage of the versatility of digital journaling cards by printing out these "Today" printable labels by Marcy Penner.  I love the way she's arranged them and made them a "home" for her photos, journaling and accents.  Strips of washi tape in varying colors and designs help separate the rows.

What a Journey by Jaime Warren

The woodgrain alpha set helps contribute to the woodsy feel in this layout all about camping by Jaime Warren.  Empty frames help create lines that guide your eye, and the inky black splatters of paint complement the dark hues in her photos well.

Hello Palm Desert by Amy Tan

By printing out her Instagram photos at 2x2 from her home printer, Amy was able to have fun with embellishing the remainder of her page.  Notice all the cool details she's brought in?  I'm loving her car stamp, hand-embroidered tag and memorabilia from her road trip!

Shape Your World by Jill Sprott

Jill wanted to create a layout that was dedicated to the way her cousin, a nurse, helps "shape the world with her helping hands."  I don't know about you, but Jill's layout inspires me to take the time to give extra thought to how each piece can help tell my story.  Her chipboard hands, map background, and flair badges beautifully reinforce her theme.

That concludes today's post about travel pages!  We'll take a look at cards tomorrow.  Thanks for joining us! - Jamie

Product Spotlight with Jen Gallacher: Decorative Brads

Productspotlight

Hey there! I'm Garden Girl Jen Gallacher, and today I get to share one of my favorite products trends with you: decorative brads. This is a commonly used product and one that has been on the market for a long time, but there are lots of creative uses for them. Today I wanted to share a few of these fun brad sets with you, as well as, share a few completed projects using this "go to" embellishment.

If you're looking for a fun package of decorative brads which includes traditional brads, as well as, some fun die cut pieces then be sure to check out the beautifully packaged brad sets from My Mind's Eye. I especially love this sweet set from the "Miss Caroline" collection.

2682202_600x600

If you're looking for something a little less traditional, but a set full of color and fun then these rose shaped brads from American Crafts are sure to strike your fancy.

  2496503_600x600

Brads come in a variety of styles, colors, and sizes; but if you're in need of basic brads, try these glittered brads from American Crafts.

  2602633_600x600

There are many more choices for brads within the 2Peas store. You can find them all here

I thought it would be fun to share a few projects from the 2Peas Gallery using this traditional, stand-by embellishment. This is an amazing layout in which abaldwin used lots of different embellishments to tell her story, including a small numbered brad set from K&Company.

Never Give Up On Your Dreams by abaldwin

I love little decorated tags, which you can use on their own or for an element on a layout. Vanessa Menhorn used a My Mind's Eye brad set on this very beautiful tag.

And finally, I loved how soaphousemama used brads to accent this fun, banner design layout. Look for ways to add small accents and embellishments to your next layout.

From Kimber, "You can't turn around today without seeing zig zags and chevrons. I bought the EK punch awhile ago and had only used it once so I challenged myself to use it on my next card. I think you could easily substitute ricrac ribbon or just a few strips of pattern paper or ribbon in place of the punched zig zags as well. I can't wait to see what you create with this sketch!"

Stamping for Project Life with Lisa Truesdell

Hey Peas! For tomorrow's 2012 : Captured class, I'm going to be talking about stamps + Project Life. Which is, as far as I'm concerned, a match made in heaven. You can make them any color, they don't add bulk to your album, and you can use them week after week without running out.

Supplies

Rather than a tutorial, this month I'm bringing you a personal challenge. Here's what I want you to grab :

graph or ledger patterned paper

your favorite stamps

3-4 colors of ink

washi tape

paper scraps.

Cut your ledger paper down into 3x4 cards. Set a time for 15 minutes and see how many journaling cards you can make. This is a fun way to stock up on premade cards - now you'll just be able to grab them when you're ready to work on a week!

Here's what I came up with :

Cards1
Cards2

(stamps used  Studio Calico Oh Happy Day & Stepping Stone Alphabet,  Technique Tuesday / Ali Edwards Favorite Love, December Daily & Life Right Now,  My Mind's Eye Be Amazing, Heidi Swapp Memory File stamps)

Happy stamping! Let me know how many you managed to make! And come back tomorrow for more stamp + Project Life inspiration. - Lisa

To see more posts and tutorials from Lisa perfect for Project Life, see Creating a Photo Collage, Washi Tape Title Tutorial, and Using Digital Journaling Cards.

Today at Two Peas:

* I've got a new Personal Shopper video up!  This week's episode: Vintage Part 2

* Deal of the Day: 25% off select Pink Paislee

* We've posted 2 new challenges with chances to win a $50 prize pack from October Afternoon and Cosmo Cricket!

GG Theme Round-Up: No-Photo Pages

Gardenthemeroundup

There are some stories in our lives we want to include in our scrapbook albums that we just don't have photos for.  It may be tempting to leave them out of our albums all together, but today we want to encourage you to not let those stories go untold!  When we asked a few Garden Girls to take on this challenge, here is what they came up with.

Projects-427b8e77-0847-4ce0-b268-4e78278e2f42-02ee5a46098640a7839d90ae0ab102de

My Story by Wendy Sue Anderson

From Wendy, "As soon as I saw this 9 to 5 collection by October Afternoon, I knew I needed it and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it first. I wanted to tell my story. The story of a little girl who was obsessed with office supplies, and learning how to type, and playing office, and dreaming of becoming a secretary. :)

Projects-427b8e77-0847-4ce0-b268-4e78278e2f42-65eff6f53f9149ceb532dca549e59630

I probably could have dug up some old photos to use on this layout...but I think a huge part of scrapbooking is journaling or story-telling...and you don't always need a photo to do that, so I opted to make this layout photoless.

  Projects-427b8e77-0847-4ce0-b268-4e78278e2f42-1648467f6bac4706ac30bfcc143df533

I had fun with the different elements of the collection and made my layout interactive, with a vellum overlay over the journaling - just for interest and texture, and to allow even more space for the fun embellishments I wanted to include.

  Projects-427b8e77-0847-4ce0-b268-4e78278e2f42-7bd33fa1fa3741e6bbc7a13eb795effa

Have you recorded any of your childhood stories? Or created a page about what you wanted to be when you "grew up?" If not, I definitely think you should - I am glad I did!"

Projects-d40007c0-822f-4a7b-8ef1-f5eb0b1a304b-13d7ccd36ea9450282ec7652a1d1e909

Found by Jill Sprott

From Jill, "The prospect of creating a layout without a photo can be daunting, seemingly defying the conventions of what makes a layout a layout. However, what truly makes a layout a layout isn't really a photo -- it's a memory. Thus, the trick to a non-photo layout is focusing on that memory and finding a good decoy, a way to take the focus off of the fact that the photo is missing. This "decoy" can come in the form of artwork, memorabilia, accents, a bold title, or even all of the above.

Projects-d40007c0-822f-4a7b-8ef1-f5eb0b1a304b-11b628a0e9004a73895660fa37b66575

In the case of this layout, my daughter's cluttered backpack was just what I needed to create a self-portrait without an actual portrait. Since it's the end of the year, it's time for her to clean out her backpack (lest we repeat the incident of '03, when we almost had to go nuclear on her Hello Kitty backpack when its contents started, um, moving). She kindly (after some mild shrieking about secrets and privacy and mothers) went through her binder and notebooks and shared some "declassified" documents with me, which I happily incorporated on this layout.

Projects-d40007c0-822f-4a7b-8ef1-f5eb0b1a304b-2da5418041d542beacfb245b6ba3e8b9

I was thinking about doing one of these for each member of our family. I would love to see what turns up in our desks, bags, and glove compartments, under the seats of our cars, on our nightstands, between the couch pillows... That isn't creepy at all, I know. The point is, what may appear to be the detritus of our lives may actually turn out to be pure gold."

Projects-b676903a-8d39-47f9-a63c-4ce29674018a-a647673a58c64182aeb27b00c3f2f185

I Want to Go There by Amy Tan

From Amy, "Sometimes it's fun to make a layout without any photos. For this one, I was totally inspired by the little Studio Calico stamp that says, "I want to go to there". I chose some map paper and travel icons and some of my favorite letter stickers for this page. I made a list of places that I have never been that I hope to visit. "

Projects-b676903a-8d39-47f9-a63c-4ce29674018a-8d0eac0a0b594cadada7c8ebb222a91c

Announcing Divide & Conquer - A mini-workshop with Lisa Truesdell

Divideconquer_newsletter

A new self-paced class has been added to our library of workshops!  We've been waiting to spill the news and are so excited launch day is finally here!  This is a different workshop in that it is a mini workshop - it has a lower price with three chapters of content.  By the end of it Garden Girl + Two Peas Instructor Lisa Truesdell will have guided you in the creation of a fantastic mini album!

----

If you have the best intentions with mini albums – but not the best follow through – then it’s time to Divide and Conquer! Garden Girl Lisa Truesdell will walk you through the steps of using divided page protectors to turn a hodge podge of memorabilia and photos into a beautifully finished mini album. We’ll explore putting together a kit to work from, selecting what photos and keepsakes will make the cut, and fun techniques perfect for this style of book. Lisa also has lots of tips on keeping your motivation up & making the process fun until the last embellishment is in place, and will be sharing a peek at additional sample layouts from three other contributors, each working with a different themed album.

Lisatruesdell_promo

This self-paced workshop will let you work at your own speed through the chapters – each chapter is accompanied by a helpful PDF walking you through the process and a 10-minute video sharing a closer look at how Lisa’s album came together.  These videos are technique-based and will explore creating a die-cut cover, working with transparencies to build a two-sided layout, making custom sized page protectors and techniques for working with pockets.

Lisa is using the Simple Stories Documented 6x8 Mix & Match Mini Album available for purchase separately, however, these same principles may be applied to an album of any size using divided page protectors.

The content of this workshop will be available immediately upon purchase. The lessons are available for you to work at your own pace and upon purchase can be accessed in the "Workshops" section under "Classes & Events." A private message board forum is also available to ask questions for Lisa and to connect with other participants. Enjoy!

Cost of mini workshop: $12 | Shop here

This Week's Challenges 6.8.2012

Thisweek'schallenges

Hello friends and happy weekend!  Here are your newest challenges from the Garden Girls.

Remember each challenge gives you a chance to win a $5 gift certificate, as well as earns you a badge for your Two Peas profile page.  Just click on the title of each challenge for details on how to enter, and scroll down to see last week's winners!

Weekly Scrap Challenge:  Use Song Lyrics with Jill Sprott

Projects-fe5012bc-ecfa-4fa8-ad71-369e8b223e41-2529d476e0b045debbc121a23521a6e1

From Jill, "Some songs seem to speak directly to us, their lyrics reflecting our own thoughts, experiences, and emotions. These are the songs on the soundtracks of our lives, evoking connections to the people, places, and moments that give our lives meaning. So how can those lyrics not have a place in our scrapbooks?

Projects-fe5012bc-ecfa-4fa8-ad71-369e8b223e41-3b97466c2b584b198c911bf12eac992e

This week's challenge is to use song lyrics on a layout. On my own layout, I included lyrics from the song "My Favourite Book," from Stars. This song has always reminded me of my relationship with my husband. On the layout, I surrounded him with the lyrics, hand-journaling directly on the white space in the photo. Since the photo is quite large, I balanced it with a gathering of layered papers and accents, including items that relate to the lyrics in some way. I also used solvent ink and the heart stamp from the "Pieces of Me" kit to stamp a series of hearts on some ribbon from that kit. The same heart is repeated on the calendar page from the OA Here and Now Chapter. I added a mix of mist and paint to those stamped hearts.

I would love to see how you include song lyrics on a layout"

Weekly Photo Challenge | Music to My Ears with Jen Jockisch

Projects-80344dbb-47b5-4286-a9dc-d3de0f679026-d6fa6e93bd294cc7a5848dd3ddbc3a01

From Jen, "Lately, it is so much easier to take photos with my iPhone than to drag out my big camera. And I love that they capture a quick little imperfect moment in time, because that's what life is, really. This little girl and her laughter, her voice, her sweet little sounds just make my heart swell with love for her. She is the music to my ears, and to my heart.

I challenge you to show us what is music to your ears. What makes your heart swell. It could be a favorite song, food, moment in time. It could be a person, a place, a thing. Whatever makes you smile."

Saturday Card Sketch with Kimber

Sketch69

From Kimber, "If you haven't been able to tell by now, I like to get a lot of milage out of my supplies. I don't toss a lot of scraps because they are perfect for cards. I used some more bits of paper and a few tickets left from previous projects to create this card.   I hope you will use the sketch to create a card this week and load it into the gallery."

This Week's Project Videos 6.8.2012

Classvideos

Another week draws to a close which means it's time for our round-up of class videos that went live!  See what the Garden Girls have been up to and try these concepts out for yourself!

Memory Keeping Monday | OC Snaps by Nancy Damiano

Projects-7944ee3e-cf5c-4962-afe0-08a40e932b59-bffd812c417d47f5a9cebbf5502a6fd1

From Nancy, "Welcome to this week's episode of Memory Keeping Monday. Today I created an ombre page with a collection of vacation 'snaps'. Watch as I show you step-by-step how to create these little triangles to add a pop of color to your layouts.

For your challenge: Create a page using the ombre trend, either solid color or patterns, any shape or size. I'd love to see what you come up with!"

The Adventures of Glitter Girl | Episode 023 Tricky Title Typography

Projects-4e267706-8901-49fd-a452-a829113f4c6a-9c883e8cea064b9b943c79a8cb75058d

From Shimelle, "This week Glitter Girl tackles making titles from leftover letter stickers, something currently being discussed here [twopeasinabucket.com] on the General Scrapbooking message board at Two Peas in a Bucket. This week her adventure takes her through one new page, using a mix of letter stickers for both the title and sub-title lettering.

Projects-4e267706-8901-49fd-a452-a829113f4c6a-074e1f68b40243a3a05bf01e0399c8ff

There's potential for an entire workshop filled with tricks for letter sticker typography, so today we're just covering the basics. Check out this gallery [pinterest.com] for an ongoing collection of examples and quick tips for mixing your letter stickers for maximum effect! I look forward to adding some of your work to that gallery too."

Finally Friday: So Happy for You by Laura Craigie

Projects-4cbcc5df-c4ea-434b-be9c-42812e5ecec9-c2554f4c22c34ef3ac483b45ac336f0f

From Laura, "It's Finally Friday, and I'm back again this week as Lynne who is normally scheduled for today had to send her camera in to get fixed.

The whole idea for this card centred around the adorable sonogram stamp by Unity and Bella Boulevard. I wanted it to be the focal point of my card, and to keep embellishments at a minimum.   In the end I made two cards, one for each gender since I had the design all complete in my head making a second one took only a few minutes more. I used papers from My Minds Eye Nostalgia line which is definitely one of my fav. new collections!  The only embellishments I used were some October Afternoon buttons, and a WRMK glitter brad.  Thanks for looking, and I challenge you to create a card with a stamped focal point."

Hope you enjoyed this week's class videos!  - Jamie

Garden Theme Round-Up: Father's Day

Gardenthemeroundup

It's time for another Garden theme round-up!  We recently asked a few of our Garden Girls to come up with a Father's Day card and here is what they created!

Dad by Laura Craigie

An argyle pattern, pair of wooden buttons and retro starburst stamp are all great embellishment choices for this masculine card.  I love the way Laura included a brad in the center of the stamp!

Kimber used a line perfect for crafting with a man in mind - Macho Nacho by Jillibean Soup!  The navy blues, grass greens and cream book print pattern work together to give a sophisticated look for a classy guy.

Lynn's Creative Space

6a01675f1b3cd6970b0168e9e53e37970c

Hi everybody!  Lynn here and today I want to share with you some photos from my craft room.  My craft room is actually the bonus room off of my master bedroom.  Looking into my room from the hallway in my bedroom, you can see a large picture window at the far end.  This window is fantastic as it lets in lots of natural light and allows me to see right into my backyard to keep an eye on my boys when they're playing outside.  I am a stand up scrapper so I have a large worktable set up right in the middle of the room that allows me to easily walk around to all sides and gather whatever supplies I need from the various "stations" I have set up around my room.

Photo1

I have set up various "stations" or work areas around my room.  To the right of the large window is a desk that houses my sewing machine.  I also keep most of my stamps, mists, etc. in this area as well.  These are where I perform my "sit down" tasks or things that take some time and I would get tired from standing at my work table to perform.  The Making Memories Embellishment Center is perfect for displaying my various mists and paints - the rainbow of colors just makes me so happy!

  Photo2

On the other side of the room is another Making Memories Embellishment Center that houses a lot of my punches (I also have quite a few other drawers full of punches - I'm addicted what can I say!  LOL) as well as a long row of cube organizers I purchased from Michaels.  These cubes hold the majority of my embellishments, patterned papers, and other supplies.  I usually stand at the end of my work table nearest this wall so I can easily turn around and grab whatever items I need while working on a project.

  Photo3

The wall adjacent to the entrance to my room houses my Ikea Expedit.  I store all of my cardstock in display racks in my Expedit along with my idea books, baskets full of Thickers and other supplies, and still MORE patterned paper!  LOL

  Photo4

And finally on the wall adjacent to the other side of the entrance to my room is a large L-shaped desk that houses my computer, printer, and electronic die cut machines.  I also keep some of my recent scrapbook layouts displayed on the wall near my computer.

  Photo5

Thanks so much for "stopping by" my craft space today.  If you have any questions regarding how I organize my supplies please feel free to ask them here in the comments!  Take care!  Lynn :)

- Lynn

This Week's Challenges 6.2.2012

Thisweek'schallenges

Happy Saturday!  We hope you have a fun-filled weekend with some time to carve out and be creative.  Here are the new challenges for this week!

Remember each challenge gives you a chance to win a $5 gift certificate, as well as earns you a badge for your Two Peas profile page.  Just click on the title of each challenge for details on how to enter, and scroll down to see last week's winners!

Weekly Scrap Challenge:  Scraplift a Pea with Jen Jockisch

Projects-06c1c6a8-61b4-4060-9035-412f38a113a8-02fc6fec0a7541d6b57bb07fbc446c6f

From Jen, "Hi Peas! This week's weekly challenge was to lift a 2peas member. I chose this gorgeous layout  by 2peas member texaschic. I loved her clean but funky design with little details and her title treatment. It caught my eye immediately and I knew right away I wanted to scrap it! I used my Silhouette to cut the title and then layered a few of the cut words on top. I splattered some Mister Huey Boss Lady over the photo after adding in a lot of layers and little bits.
I can't wait to see who you decide to lift and what you come up with!"

Weekly Photo Challenge: Texture with Lynn Ghahary

Projects-5d50e17c-86a5-4790-85b7-38fba46664ed-4f1d9d5734f54c87b4e95a976ecb091c

From Lynn, "The point of any image is to draw the attention of the viewers. One way to capture attention in your photographs is through the use of TEXTURE. Texture photography can be defined simply as any image that depends, at least partially, for its impact on the texture of the objects in the image.

My example of texture photography came about after a photo session with my sweet puggle Buddy as I was taking pictures of all of his puppy "parts" - his ears, his eyes, his snout, etc. This image of his snout has such great texture in it - from his fur and whiskers to the great lines and detail on his nose - it really makes a great statement."

Saturday Card Sketch with Kimber:

Cardsketch62

From Kimber, "This week I wanted to use up some scraps from a few cards I had just created. I had a sketch with a bunch of circles running horizontally but I liked it better when I turned it on it's side. This is one of those quick and easy sketches that you can create for Birthday's, Thank You's, Thinking of You's and so much more!"

Challengewinners62

Congrats to scrappy grace, swiley & cmstamps - we'll be in touch with you shortly on how to access your gift certificate!  And thanks to everyone who played along!

Looking for more challenges?  We've got you covered!  Each weekly project video invites you to play along, and we've partnered up with our vendors to bring you amazing prize opportunities!  Of course, you can see them all in one place all the time from our Challenge homepage.

From Shannon, "HI! Welcome to the last Memory Keeping Monday of May! Continuing with our PATTERNED PAPER theme this month I am going to challenge myself and YOU to make a layout using the same general pattern, but different colors, textures, sizes, etc. The pattern I chose is Chevron because I seem to have an overabundance of it at the time. You could achieve this same look with polka dots, stripes, stars, ledgers/graph, even florals could work.

From Shimelle, "This week Glitter Girl looks at taking a sketch and making something in your own style, something currently being discussed here on the General Scrapbooking message board. This week her adventure takes her through two new layouts, each using a sketch from Two Peas - one from Kelly Purkey's 12 months of Super Sketches and one from Jen Gallacher's Stretch your Sketch class

Those links will take you to the full free classes, each with 12 lessons of sketches and pages. In this week's adventure, I specifically used Kelly's May lesson and Jen's September lesson. " ...read more.

From Laura, "It's my week again for Finally Friday and I had fun mixing up a bunch of different brands. I used papers from October Afternoon, and Echo Park, and embellishments from My Minds Eye, and Prima jewels. I use Prima chalk ink along the edges of my papers, and used some of the awesome ribbon tape too.

Thanks for looking and I challenge you to make a card with a warm palette of colors. :) "

Have a great weekend, Peas!
