Challenge + Horizontal Photo (May30-Jun5)

This week's challenge uses a trick I love! I take a LOT of pictures slightly askew...that cool 'crooked' look, you know? They look great as a print, but when it comes to putting them on a page, it sometimes can make a person seasick!
Ever wondered how to use that adorable (but crooked) photo you have, without making it look like the people are falling off the page? It's easy: just look for the hints in the photo that tell you where the 'horizon' is (the line between the ground and sky) and line that up with the top/bottom edge of the paper. Voila! Instantly pleasing (non-dizzying) photo!
The horizon line in my photo is quite obviously the line of the concrete wall behind my doggie and I. I simply aligned that along the horizonal plane, and it looks "right" to the eye.
(adorable photo by none other than the fantabulous Amy Grendell.)
Give it a try...make a page with a crooked photo aligned on the horizontal plane, upload it to the gallery, and don't forget to select the check-mark by this specific weekly challenge so we all can see your awesome pages!

There are so many cool 'painted papers' out there, let's use them! I know for me they can be a little intimidating. All those designs and colors already on there. But they can be fun, just add your own touches to them!!! Make sure to check the little CHALLENGE box when you UPLOAD your layout to the Gallery!
Have a great weekend!

Here is my picture. I have one from last year or the day before too! Note my new hair cut. Im not sure I like it. What do you guys think? Its very short. I havent had my hair this short since the seventh grade. I used to put bandanas through it so Id look like Olivia Newton John. lol
Everyone who uploads a picture into the gallery will be put in a hat and I'll pick a couple winners.

NSD photography challenge - women who inspire
To celebrate National Scrapbooking Day, Joanna Bolick wrote a special photography class entitled "Celebrating Mothers in May". Whether you are a beginning photographer or a seasoned pro, you will find Joanna's tips and tricks helpful when photographing the special women in your life. PDF available for download HERE.
With Mothers Day just around the corner, I challenge you to take photos of the women in your life who have inspired you (maybe a teacher, or administrator, friend or extended relative) or who continue to inspire you every day (mother, grandmother, or your own daughter). Posed photos are great, but also remember to take photos of your inspiring women in action. These types of photos will be a wonderful documention of who they are and what they do.
Here are a few of my examples of women in my life who've inspired me:

To see the complete challenge, visit the Two Peas Photography board HERE. In celebration of National Scrapbooking Day, a prize will be given to a randomly selected Pea who participates in our "Women Who Inspire" challenge. Please post no more than two images in the Photography Gallery for your chance to win. Label your photos "NSD Contest - Women Who Inspire". Entries will be accepted until Friday, May 9 at 5:00 P.M. CST.

thanks for popping by the lovely tv show chat on the nsd board! here's the place where you'll post your layouts... here's some more info in case you missed it:
I was brainstorming how this could relate to scrapbooking. Here's what I came up with. Let's do a challenge about tv shows.. but not directly about them but stuff that has to do with them.. be sure to post it here, I will pick 2 winners later today!
My absolute favorite show right now is Brothers and Sisters! So I thought, layouts about siblings, living in CA, motherhood, gatherings, and super points if you have something on Ojai!
Grey's Anatomy--- careers, doctors, roommates, Seattle
Extreme Home Makeover and Flip that House--home, makeover/projects, before and after
Lost---fears, photos of wilderness, camping
The office--- your boss, your workplace, sarcastic journaling- LOL
Project Runway and What not to wear: dream job, fashion, dress up
There were so many other good ideas on the thread, if you want to go back and read it under the 9am hour with Jamie. :)
Here are my 2 layouts, both done with the Brothers and Sisters show.. hoping to do another John and Kate plus 8 theme later today :)

I can' t wait to see what you guys came up with! Be sure to check the thread later tonight for the winners!!! :)
