From Start to Finish Video with Nichol: May 2010

I'm working on completing a series of layouts that show an entire month in review from last year (2010). I have had a few requests to show how I am creating the photo collages I am using in many of these layouts so part of this week's video quickly shows that process as well as how I used photo strips to complete the page.

CHALLENGE: This week's challenge is create a photo collage on either a one or two-page layout. You can create the collage in a photo editing program like I did or simple collage your individual photos. Upload your layout to the 2Peas gallery, select this week's From Start to Finish challenge and your layout will appear at the bottom of this page.

Enjoy!

Finally Friday Video: Thinking of You

This week I was inspired to create something with buttons! I thought it would look pretty neat to have holes punch out of cardstock with the buttons nestled inside. :) So I paired the buttons up with some papers from American Crafts' Love collection and created a Thinking of You card.

Enjoy!

CHALLENGE: Create a card with buttons. Upload your creation to the TwoPeas gallery and select this week's Finally Friday. Then your card will appear at the bottom of this page.

Kristina's Picks Video 1.14.2011: The Crush collection from Bo Bunny

I am in love with all the Valentines products coming in right now.... in love with love products. The Crush collection from Bo Bunny really caught my eye and stood out among the other collections. The first thing that drew me to it was  the color combinations. I really like white, not so much cream, and black, not really brown. And this collection is stark white, black black with red and several shades of pink. I love this combination. Very classic. Not so much vintage or country or soft. And then the icons drew me in... the birds and the bird cages; the trees and the hearts growing on trees; the swirls and of course, the hearts. I adore the hearts with the swirls and fleurs around them. Very cool and also very pretty. They are almost iconic, classic. Just really really nice patterns. I could see these in a collection with stark black silhouettes.  The die cut heart paper is adorable, with its pink printed inside with the black scalloped trim. I could see this used in so many ways.

There are a lot of accessories and embellishments that coordinate with this collection. Bo Bunny always has a lot to pick from in each of their collections. There are cardstock stickers, with just icons and alphabets, and then those with titles and sayings and some that look like layered stickers and embellishments (like buttons and trims) but are really just flat cardstock stickers. But there are the 3-dimensional stickers as well, in both chipboard and layered cardstock stickers. There is a great sheet of rub ons, with all borders that are really excellent including one that is just "love" in script as a continuous border. Love it.  Noteworthy die cut pages with a lot of lovely designs for either journaling or framing or just as a great accent. Jewels, brads, trims and a great big black tulle flower round out all the of the embellishments.

In addition, the collection has a 6x6 paper pad, where all of the patterns are the same as the 12x12 papers, only printed in smaller scale. Great for card making; a 12x12 collection kit and even a card kit for putting together some very easy and yet oh so lovely valentines for all of your loves.

Check out the video for an up-close view of the product, and to see if your project was featured!

For a chance to be featured, be sure to tag your projects with the vendor name, as well as relate products, so that your project is more easily found when we search in the gallery!

Finally Friday Video: Sending Smiles

For this week's Finally Friday card, I wanted to create a Valentine-esque card, but not use the usual sentiment. The Sending Smiles stamp set from Hero Arts was perfect! I paired it with some patterned paper from American Crafts' Love collection, and then added some stitching as well. Enjoy!

CHALLENGE: Create a Valentine-esque card like I did. You can use traditional red and pink colors but use a different sentiment, or even use a love sentiments with non-traditional colors. Your pick! Upload your creation the the TwoPeas Gallery and select this week's Finally Friday Challenge when you do. Then your card will appear at the bottom of this week's FF page. :)

Kristina's Picks 1.7.2011: the Sweetness collection by PInk Paislee

This week I selected the Sweetness Collection from Pink Paislee. With the holidays over and a new one fast approaching, we have received a lot of our Valentines Day products. The Sweetness collection has actually been in our store for a while, but is perfect for the Valentine holiday.

It's not your traditional Valentine's Day product offering, it isn't all hearts and notes and love and birds singing. Rather, its more victorian and pretty, vintage and eclectic. There are hearts and love in the products, but it's not as obvious. The collection really revolves around the large displays of flowers, which I adore. I love big peonies and roses. The collection has a lot of overlaying patterns and elements on each paper, within the stickers and accessories. There are ledgers, handwriting, newsprint and bookprints, stamped images and seals. All creating a very eclectic and fun grouping of products. I also really enjoy that it has pink and yellow combined. I would not have chosen those 2 colors on my own, but I love how they work in this collection. There are some great samples of this collection and all of its parts and pieces being used in our gallery. I have selected a few and feature them the video.  Be sure to watch!
