Finally Friday Card Video with Kristina Werner: Thanks

Hi all!

For this week's Finally Friday card and video, I just couldn't resist using these felt flowers from Pebbles. The Happy Go Lucky collection is so bright and playful, so it's no wonder I love the felt flowers from it. :)

I created a "scene" of three flowers and stems by cutting patterned paper for the backdrop, ground, and stems for the flowers. A simple label stamp with letter stickers reading "thanks" was the perfect way to finish off the card.

CHALLENGE: Create a "scene" on your card. Upload you creation to the TwoPeas gallery and select this week's Finally Friday challenge and you card will appear at the bottom of this page.

Enjoy!

From Start to Finish Video: November Blessings

This week's layout is another collage style layout that shows an entire month at a glance. Many of the aspects of the layout are the similar to previous layouts: collage style photos, die cut title.

However, I used a "layered" background design and included resin flowers and ribbon tabs sewn on with vintage-inspired buttons to soften the layout.

I combined MME Stella & Rose Hattie collection papers and embellishments with Echo Park For the Record Papers. They both have great vintage flair and work perfectly together.

CHALLENGE: This week's challenge is to add some ribbon to your page.

Finally Friday Card Video: Thanks

In this week's Finally Friday video I show how to create a dry embossed square on the front of the card without any embossing dies. And also how to create a scalloped edge that matches on both the front and back of the card--something that's difficult to do when you're using heavy cardstock that can't be punch two layers at a time.

Anyhow, enjoy!

From Start to Finish Video: Most Wonderful Story

This week's layout started with these photos of my kids playing outside on the play set. They had constructed a "fort" with beach towels and try as I may I didn't really get any great photos of them. Or at least I didn't think so at the time (August 2010). Looking back on the photos now, I see they even though they are not perfect shots, the kids' expressions and smiles speakvolumes. I feel their love for each other and the happiness of the day.

I really wanted to focus on the love they share for one another plus express the fun day they shared. I used lots of new papers from Fancy Pants Love Birds collection. At first glance this definitely looks like a Valentine's or Love themed collection but the solids included on the "B" sides of these papers are so great for just about anything! A few tags, stickers, punched butterflies and some stamping complete the page.

CHALLENGE: Use themed products for something other than the "theme" they were intended for. :)

Kristina's Picks Video 2.11.2011: Love Birds by Fancy Pants

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I am using this week's pick for a Valentines Day collection. This year's Valentines Day themed products have been some of my favorites for a very long time. I think they are trendy and fun, and full of hearts in all shapes, sizes and colors. I love hearts.

The Fancy Pants Love Birds collection is incredibly trendy. This collection includes your trendy banners on several different papers, in some very lovely and usable colors. Birds, trees, borders and scallops... all very in right now. It also has a bike with hearts coming off of it, also very trendy... this is a concept I have seen on other products, including tee-shirts and more this season. The colors are beautiful and vibrant. I didn't know I would like the yellow so much with the pinks, fuchsias, reds and aquas. But I do. I really like it. I love how people have used this in their projects posted in the gallery. Watch my video to see some of the sample projects I found using this collection!

For a chance to be featured, be sure to tag your projects with the vendor name, as well as relate products, so that your project is more easily found when we search in the gallery!

Finally Friday Video: Love You, Mom

Hi all! For this week's card, I wanted to create a card for my mom. :) I wanted the card to be bright and cheerful, so I made the majority of the card yellow.

I used the yellow polka dot paper from October Afternoon's Modern Homemaker 8x8 paper pad, as well as some So Saffron cardstock and ink from Stampin' Up! The colors are slightly different, but work well together.

As for stamps, I used American Crafts' Max stamp set and the Flower Pattern background stamp from Hero Arts. LOVE this background stamp. In this case, I stamped it as is, but in the future I want to try coloring in some of the flower areas. Wouldn't that look cool? :)

CHALLENGE: Create a bright and cheerful card. Upload your creation to the TwoPeas gallery, select this week's FF challenge, and your card will appear at the bottom of this page.

Enjoy!

From Start to Finish Video: Celebrate One

I thought this week I would mix it up a little.
So far I've only been sharing ideas on one-page layouts (that just happens to be what I've been in the mood for and the direction my photos have taken me). However, I go in phases and enjoy 2-page layouts just as much as one-pagers. I've had lots of requests to share 2 page layouts so that's what this week's video + layout focus on.

When creating a 2-page layout I always find it helpful to look at it as a 24x12 format (because I generally scrap 12x12) instead of 2 individual 12x12 pages. This way I am looking at the design as a whole and how I can make the entire design cohesive and flow nicely. I always lay out 2 pieces of 12x12 cardstock side by side (even if I don't end up using the cardstock as the base of my layout) and start adding elements from there.

For today's page I wanted to use larger photos for this birthday layout featuring my youngest son turning 1. All the photos are 3.5x5" with a thin white border. By using a 2-page design I was able to incorporate the larger photos and still have plenty of room for a larger title, patterned paper strips, journaling and embellishment without the page appearing too busy.

By slanting the photos slightly and adding torn pieces of mixtape to the top of each it gives the very linear layout a more fun and playful feel.

This week's CHALLENGE: create a 2-page layout with the size you prefer to scrap: 8.5x11, 12x12, 8x8, etc.

Have fun!

Hi all! For this week's Finally Friday card, I wanted to use a really light and sweet color palette. Anyhow, enjoy!

From Start to Finish Video with Nichol: Favorite Memories

Including memorabilia in my scrapbooking has been something that has not been easy for me. I'm the person who throws stuff away, not overly sentimental about stuff, hates clutter, etc. etc. I do collect a few things here and there and always end up tucking it all in a box somewhere. However, I have been ultra inspired by others who do such a lovely job of including memorabilia to try and do a better job of using these little pieces of my life that I've collected along the way.

I have had this stack of memorabilia sitting out on my desk for awhile now trying to figure out the best way to include it on a layout. I really wanted to use the KI Memories pockets because they are perfect for memorabilia. I could have used the 10" pocket but I just used one on a layout awhile back so I wanted to try something new. The 5" pocket was too small for the Playbill and so I finally settled on the 12x12 pocket. Even though the pocket was a bit bigger than I really needed I decided to use it anyway and here is how I made the pocket my own and created something entirely new from this one product.

This week's CHALLENGE: use memorabilia on your layout. This can be anything from movie stubs, to a receipt, vacation memorabilia, kid's school memorabilia and more.

Have fun!
