Finally Friday: My Happy Card

Hey Peas! It's FRIDAY! And I have a fun card to make! I got a new video camera so hopefully you can see and hear me better this time around!

I used the new Doodlebug Designs premade cards in Limeade and used a few extra goodies to make it all come together.

Challenge: Use some bakers twine! and if you don't have any--make your own with some white linen thread and a marker! :)

Kristina's Picks 9.22.2011

Today's Featured Products by Glitz Design: Beautiful Dreamer | Dance in Sunshine | Vintage Blue

I went a bit off the Kristina path this week and chose a company that is doing vintage style products--- a trend I have not been known to pick in the past. I like that Glitz Design has made it so that these collections are right there in the trendy area of vintage imagery, but also did some different, interesting product with them. The silhouettes, florals, damasks, ornate motifs and book prints are all evident in the collection, as they are trendy right now. I like how they are being used in the Glitz products.

The papers are great designs, most of them with an all-over pattern that I think is easy to use, something to just grab and use as a base or even to cut up, tear up, or punch. There are several designs where they have layered designs, or just shown evidence of them in the corners, that allow you to create a 12x12 page that you can add to, or even with a larger motif in the corner allow you to balance it out with your own design.

They have created a nice round collection of stickers, journaling, titles, and the ever popular little block alphas in varying colors, type style and background patterns. There are 3 dimensional embellishments in the form of unique trims and extra large gem stones that are not for the faint of heart. The paper embellishments are what really drew me in though. I love that they have included several different kinds of paper embellishments packs.

The Whatnots are a package of thick cardstock printed die cuts, varying from smaller motifs to larger titles, quotes and signs. There are florals, birds, heart strings, book plates, library cards and more. The Peek-a-Boos are a package of transparent die cuts, again, with varying sized items of images, titles, frames and more. The Paper Layers are a set of 5x7 sized thin single-sided papers, each printed with images that coordinate with the collection... they include book prints, titles, quotes and other fun concepts. Each of these paper embellishment packs are rich with details and thus, ideas for all kinds of pockets, frames, pages, simple added imagery and motifs, as well as great little collage elements. I was delightfully surprised when I opened each and discovered all the hidden little gems inside each.

From Start to Finish: Lucky Me

From Start to Finish Layout & Video: Lucky Me

Good morning, everyone.
I wanted to leave a personal note this morning letting you know that this will be the last From Start to Finish layout/video from me. Due to personal reasons, I have resigned my position as a Garden Girl here at Two Peas. I will however, be bringing you the last 3 installments of Scrapbook Stamping on the first of the month as per usual and have amazing guest designers lined up to share their stamped creations with you! I have enjoyed spending theses last 3 years here in the Garden and I will still be around posting layouts and cards in the gallery. :) Thank you for all your support for this series throughout this year. I appreciate it more than I could ever let you know.
Best,
Nichol

This week's layout is die-cut heavy. When thinking about how I wanted to design this layout, I knew I wanted to do this page in 4 quadrants. I found a die cut with 2 frames so I cut out to of them and layered them together to achieve the 4 quadrants I was going for.
I die cut the title, the scallop square, the background and matching floral designs.
I chose to use some Photoshop actions on my photos to give them a "sepia tone" or "aged" look. A little stamping on the die cut tabs finishes off this simple layout.

Silhouette Designs Used (from Silhouette Online Store):
- sentiment_stacks-lucky_me_C00112_27205
- flower_4petal_square_1225
- flower_4petal_1222
- square_scallop_MED_1201
- 3_frames_C00775_20509
- bookmark_three_C00826_19547

Stampin' Up Ink Colors Used:
- Pool Party
- Basic Gray
- Lucky Limeade

CHALLENGE: Create a quadrant-sytle layout.
*Challenge runs from Sept. 21 - Sept. 28, 2011.

Finally Friday with Julie Campbell - Guess Whoooooo

This was a really fun card to make! I love the new Audrey collection by My Little Shoebox & the coordinating stamp set by Unity. In the video, you'll see a mix of paper piecing, Copic coloring, and fussy cutting. Owls seem to be just about everywhere in the paper crafting market & I used them to create this card for a new expecting mother.

My challenge for you is to create a project that includes a woodland creature somewhere in the design.

From Start to Finish Layout & Video: Family is Precious

This week I wanted to really focus on bright, bold colors against a black background to highlight these black/white photos of my two oldest kids snuggling a few years ago. To keep the movement of the page I cropped the photos into circles (the larger circle was cut with a Coluzzle and the two smaller photos with a 2.5" circle punch).

I used a heart die (My Favorite Things) and die cut papers from 6x6 paper pads. My favorite Doodlebug buttons add additional splashes of color across the page.

Stamping was all done using the September Studio AE Stamp Set: Family Is.

CHALLENGE: Create a page with heart accents.
*Challenge runs from Sept. 14 - Septe. 21, 2011.*

Finally Friday: Wreath Thank You Card

Hello Peas!! It's Finally Friday! yay!

I'm new at doing these videos--so forgive me if it's not perfect! ;)

I used the Silhouette to diecut my wreath-you can use any diecut machine that has a wreath image. Also you don't have to use the Hero Arts Design block, you could use another pattern stamp or even a single stamp that's repeated across the background of the card.

Your challenge: Use a diecut shape to fill up your card front. Upload your card to the TwoPeas gallery and select this week's Finally Friday challenge.

From Start to Finish: Super Hero Stuff

This week's layout features the Design Principle of Proportion/Scale as part of 2Peas Design School feature. I "divided" my page into 2 halfs (each 6x12") and added the photos/journaling/title so that each side was in proportion to each other. Similarly, the scale of each side of the layout is very similar lending the layout to a nice balance. There are many, many ways to use these design principles and I chose to keep all my elements very similar in size to one another. I could have also created a bunch of smaller photos and a large oversize title or used one really big photo with a small title, etc.

The die cut title is from the Silhouette Online Store.
The journaling cards are from a Becky Higgins Project Life kit.
The rub-ons are an older product by Cosmo Cricket.

CHALLENGE: Create a layout using the Design Principle of Proportion/Scale.
*Challenge runs from September 7th, 2011 - September 14th, 2011.*
