The ideas for the Pocket Patterns fabric swatches you came up with sound so fun! I can't wait to see the variety of projects that you make out of this new product!

Now on to the challenge for this week:

6 Colors Week Challenge

1. The card, layout, or project must be posted to an online gallery or blog with American Crafts in your supply list.

2. You must leave a comment on this blog post with a link to your layout online. You also must fill in your email address when posting your comment on this blog post so I can notify you if you've won.

3. Projects and links must be posted by midnight PST on Thursday, November 4th.

Here is one final colorful layout by Wendy McKee to get you inspired:

My Boys by Wendy McKee
Supplies: Water Front Park Paper (35229) - City Park, Central Park Paper (35223) - City Park, Forest Gardens Paper (35226) - City Park, Liberty Grove Paper (35239) - City Park, Skyline Park Paper (35235) - City Park, Fairmont Gardens Paper (35243) - City Park, Lakeside Park Paper (35224) - City Park, Hyde Park Paper (35238) - City Park, Mountain Park Paper (35231) - City Park, Gate Journaling (42175) - Remarks, Swing (72003) - Delights, Stroll Grasshopper (53115) - Thickers

Wendy says, "This is a photo of my husband and son, which as you can see they are both looking directly at the camera...not something that happens most of the time. I knew that I wanted this photo to be on a page that is full of colour so the City Park lin was perfect. Banners are very 'in' right now and I wanted to combine them with the City Park paper flowers and this page is what I came up with. To add a bit of extra detail on this page I did some hand sewing. To jazz up the banners I added some white stitching and some scallops. I also added some stitching onto the edges of the journaling to give it some detail."

I hope your world has been a little more colorful this week and you have fun participating in the challenge!

PS - Happy Halloween on Sunday!

Layouts by Shannon and Melanie

Here are two more 6-colors-only layouts by Shannon Zickel and Melanie Louette:

Life with a Tween by Shannon Zickel
Supplies: Mountain Park Paper (35231) - City Park, Fairmont Gardens Paper (35242) - City Park, Forest Grove Paper (35226) - City Park, Stroll Grasshopper (53115) - Thickers, 12 x 12 White Cardstock (71801) - AC Cardstock, 12 x 12 Pool Cardstock (71069 ) - AC Cardstock, Max (59201) - Clear Stamps, Large Acrylic Block (59010) - Stamp Collection, Grosgrain Ribbon (58153 ) - Ribbon, Cricket Mini Brads (84884) - Elements, Carrot Mini Brads (8479) - Elements, Neutrals Round Buttons (85441) - Elements, .03 Black Precision Pen (62311) - Pens and Markers, Chestnut Ink (59512) - Stamp Ink, Sotheby's (42457) - Remarks, Strip Glue Runner (61712 ) - This to That

Shannon says, "Limiting myself to just 6 colors was a fun challenge! It simplified my creation process because I didn't spend extra time debating over patterned paper choices. Typically I like to throw a multi color stripe paper on my layouts, but since many striped papers have multiple colors I had no choice but to leave them out. In the end I completed a page I love - in very little time! Another tip - to make sewing pleats into my ribbon easier and not run the risk of ruining my already in progress layout, I cut out a small strip of cardstock and sewed the ribbon seperately, then I adhered the ribbon and cardstock strip to my layout!"

As someone who likes to sew a lot on her pages and has ruined a couple in the process, I really appreciate the sewing tip Shannon - genius!

And here is Melanie's take on 6 Colors Week:
B & N by Melanie Louette
Supplies: 12 x 12 Vanilla Cardstock (71041) - AC Cardstock, 12 x 12 Aqua Cardstock (71058) - AC Cardstock, Typo Mustard (42979) - Thickers, Gobble Gobble (42138) - Remarks Dimensional Stickers, Abode Journaling Cards (64000) - Just Write, Dot Glue Runner (61713) - This to That, Brown Fine (62006) – Slick Writer

Melanie says, "I found these forgotten photos of my sons and the dog from two years ago while going through old files on my computer and right away remembered the fun day we had when I took them. I used an autumn colour scheme ~ aqua, yellow, green, red, brown, and cream after choosing to use the dimensional Gobble Remarks stickers which go along perfectly with the theme of the page. This was definitely a hard assignment for me, as I realized I don't usually use that many colours on a page!"

Lovely layouts ladies!

Postmarked Wednesday with Kelly Purkey

Postmarked Wednesday
It's that time of week again! Time to see some cards! Today Kelly Purkey has created two excellent cards for your viewing pleasure:

Cards by Kelly Purkey
Supplies: Gracious Hare Paper (35252) - Dear Lizzy Enchanted, Golden Gate Park Paper (35244) - City Park, Forest Gardens Paper (35226) - City Park, 12 x 12 Leaf Cardstock (71052) - AC Cardstock, Max (59201) - Clear Stamps, Chestnut (59512) - Pigment Ink, City Park Decorative Tags (77244) - Bits, Swing (72003) - Delights, Stroll Grasshopper (53115) - Thickers

Kelly says, "I love combining a lot of colors on my projects, so sticking to just six colors was a challenge for me. For the thank you card, I pulled together light blue, dark blue, green, and purple from the paper to go with light and dark brown on the message part. On the K card, I used orange, light pink, dark pink, green, brown, and yellow to keep if very simple. Such a fun challenge!"

Such bright and fun cards made with only 6 colors each!

Treat Bag by Sarah de Guzman

Here's a fun and easy project which you can do to spice up a treat bag, or any gift bag, by Sarah de Guzman:

Hi Treat Bag by Sarah de Guzman
Supplies: 12 x 12 White Cardstock (71081) – AC Cardstock, Lakeside Park Paper (35224) - City Park, Forest Gardens Paper (35226) – City Park, Lively (89288) – Ribbon, Stroll Grasshopper (53115) – Thickers

Sarah says, "When I was given the challenge to create a project with only six colors (no more, no less), I had no idea where to start. After some thought, I created a fun little favor bag that can be filled with candy, cookies, etc. I stuck to the colors white, black, pink, green, orange, and aqua. I took some leftover scraps of patterned paper and layered them to the front of my card. I added matching Thickers to a journaling sticker to finish off my project."

Quick, fun, easy, cute - what's not to love? Thanks for sharing Sarah!

6 Colors Week

The name of the game this week is 6 colors - no more, no less!

6 Colors Week Logo

We'll start with a great layout by Mahlin Wiggur:

Shadow by Mahlin Wiggur
Supplies: City Park Buttons (85518) - Elements, Frisbee (78038) - Details, Dear Lizzy Enchanted Plastic Rose Brads (85522) - Elements, City Park (61733) - Mixtape, Reef Sunny (53119) - Thickers, Hairy O. Clawsome (35185) - Boo!, Elizabeth B. Stein (35190) - Boo!, Madame O. Ghoul (35192) - Boo!, Courtland Gardens (35232) - City Park, Farimont Gardens (35242) - City Park,  Lakeside Park (35224) City Park, Wise Tortoise (35268) Dear Lizzy Enchanted, 12 x 12 White Cardstock (71081) - AC Cardstock, 12 x 12 Black Glitter (71414) - AC Speciality Cardstock

Mahlin says, "The 6 colors I chose are white, black, yellow, aqua, orange, and green. I loved using the Mixtape on my background - I think it adds that extra bit of color and strips of tape is such a playful touch. When I created all the circle elements for my layout, I used different sized circle punches to create an illusion of shadows beneath my paper. I also love the randomness and how the colors pop together."

Definitely a fun and funky layout! Love the Mixtape background and the circle "shadows"!

Birthday Boy Cards by Caroline and Boys Week Winner!

Congratulations to the winner of the Boys Week contest - Tanya Tahir:

Screen shot 2010-10-21 at 9.42.40 AM Screen shot 2010-10-21 at 9.43.32 AM It was fun to read all your comments about which line you'd use for little boy pages!

Today Caroline Ikeji has two great birthday boy cards to share with you:

Birthday Boy Cards by Caroline Ikeji
Supplies: Hairy O. Clawsome Paper (35185) - Boo!, Barbara R. Bones Paper (35188) - Boo!, Elizabeth B. Stein Paper (35190) - Boo!, Jack T. Skullinski Paper (35191) - Boo!, Madame O. Ghoul Paper (35192) - Boo!, Bones Borders (53106) - Thickers, Stroll Grasshopper (53115) - Thickers, Max (59201) - Clear Stamps, 12 x 12 Peacock Cardstock (71471) - AC Cardstock

Caroline says, "I made two boyish birthday cards using the Boo! line. For the first, I cut little banners and strung them in three rows across the card. The second card I used paper strips and a spider web border from a sheet of Thickers. These cards are quick and fun, and a great way to use up scraps in the meantime!"

I love how Caroline used Halloween papers for an un-Halloween themed project! AC products are so versatile :)

Postmarked Wednesday with Pooi and Céline

Postmarked Wednesday
I've got some great cards and tags to share with you for today's Postmarked Wednesday! First up, a fun tag project by Chin Pooi:

So Fun Tags by Chin Pooi
Supplies: Cheers Paper (35016) – Letterbox, Respectfully Paper (35006) - Letterbox, See You Paper (35019) – Letterbox,  Swallowtail Social Paper (35089) – Dear Lizzy,  Post Phrases (43369) – MiniMarks Sheets, Zeppelin (42104) – Remarks Dimensional Stickers, Correspond Journaling (42668) – Remarks, Sports (42325) – Remarks, Pastels Mini Jewel Brads (85217) – Elements,  Pastels Medium Jewel Brads (85286) – Elements, Fantastic Wine (53107) – Thickers

Pooi says, "Making this folder of tags from American Crafts patterned paper was so much fun. The AC papers are heavyweight with a coordinating solid on the other side are of good quality for the folders. After making the folders, I embellished them with Remarks stickers, MiniMarks sheets, and dimensional stickers to go with my boy’s theme. The tags consist of photos, stamped and with journaling, and they slide into the folders nicely. If you have taken a lot of photos, try making this folder of tags - definitely a fun way to scrap!"

And here is a perfectly boyish card by Céline Navarro:

It's a Boy Card by Céline Navarro
Supplies: Full Moon Paper (34777) - Halloween, Friendly Fern Paper (35092) - Dear Lizzy, Mountain Park Paper (35231) - City Park, City Park Tags (77244) - Bits, Baby Stamps (59000) - Stamping

Céline says, "We always tend to use blue to make boy layouts or boy cards. I wanted to play with more Autumn colors for a card I just made for my best friend, who's going to give birth to her second son in December. I used a square punch to create that quilting effect and couldn't help playing with stamps! Of course, to make my sentiment pop, I used foam tabs."

Super duper cute! Have a great day!

A Day at the Park Mini Album by Suzy Plantamura

What better way to document a fun day at the park with your little boy than with a cute mini album? Suzy Plantamura shares such an album using pictures of her friend's son.

A Day at the Park Mini Album by Suzy Plantamura
Supplies: Charming Collin Paper (35263) - Dear Lizzy Enchanted, Forest Gardens Paper (35226) - City Park, Lakeside Park Paper (35224) - City Park, Courtland Gardens Paper (35232) - City Park, Royal Gardens Paper (35234) - City Park, Skyline Park Paper (35235) - City Park, Fairmont Gardens Paper (35242) - City Park, Mountain Park Paper (35231) - City Park, Bay Park Paper (35246) - City Park, Fantastic Limeaid (53109) - Thickers, Gate (42175) - Remarks, Reinforced Decorative Tags (77244) - Bits, Trail (42183) - Remarks, Bones Borders (53106) - Thickers, Madame O. Ghoul Paper (35192) - Boo!, Lively (89288) - Ribbon, Leafy (89289) - Ribbon, Open Stock Ribbon Grosgrain (89251) - Ribbon

Suzy says, "Mini albums are so easy and fun to make when you have a scrapbook line of products that you love that all go together! I made this album with my new favorite line - City Park. The colors are amazing and the patterns work well for both boys and girls as you can see here (hey, you can use a little pink in a boy book too, right?). I made this for my good friend who has the cutest little six-year-old boy, Charlie. I created one page using two colors of blue felt and zig zag stitched around the edges to hold it together – you can leave an opening so you can use it as a pocket. I also stitched around most of paper on the pages before I attached them to the chipboard. I even added some Boo! to this book – the chipboard borders work great for non-Halloween themes as well. I paper pieced the tree together on the yellow page to mimic a tree on one of the City Park tags. Whenever I use stickers on a project, I always back them with white cardstock and cut them out – this allows me to use pop dots behind them and not have to commit them to paper until I know where I want them. Once I ran out of pictures of Charlie at the park, I left some blank pages for his mom to add in later on another park visit... I hope she likes it!"

I'm sure she'll LOVE it Suzy, I'm sure she will :)

Boys Week with Cindy Tobey

If last week was girl's week, then it only seems fair to follow up with Boy's Week! They're cute, made of snips and snails and puppy dog tails, and heck, I just created my very first one :) Let's start this fun week with a layout by Cindy Tobey:

Home is Where the TV is by Cindy Tobey
Supplies: 12 x 12 Chestnut Cardstock (71048) - AC Cardstock, 12 x 12 Aqua Cardstock (71058) - AC Cardstock, Orchard Way Paper (35068) - Abode, Sesame Parkway Paper (35058) - Abode, Roosevelt Way Paper (35071) - Abode, Shady Lane Paper (35057) - Abode, Chateau Court Paper (35072) - Abode, Crestview Court Paper (35074) - Abode, Max (59201) - Clear Stamps, Tenant Phrases Black (53015) - Thickers, Regards Black (53004) - Thickers, Vacuum Accents (43374) - MiniMarks, Abode Printed Chipboard (77233) - House, Dandelion Mini Brads (8478) - Elements, Strip Glue Runner (61712) - This to That, Dimensional Tabs (61710) - This to That

Cindy says, "I love the Abode collection! One of the reasons is because of all the cute little accents that go with it. When I spotted the TV rub on I knew exactly how I'd use it. The journaling on my page says it all, but my son would be permanently parked in front of our TV if we let him! So this page is dedicated to his love of our TV. I applied the TV rub on to a small scrap of clear transparency, cut it out, and layered it over some punched paper circles with a dimensional tab. I also created a paper piecing fashioned after the TV rub on to use for my journaling, and as with the rub on, I layered it over some circles of paper with dimensional tabs."

This is a great layout to capture a phase in Cindy's son's life and her technique for transferring rub ons is genius! Thanks for sharing Cindy!
