Hollyday Banner Tutorial by Pamella Brown

Pamella Brown shares in a step-by-step photo tutorial how to make this ultra cute Hollyday banner:

Final

Pamella

Supplies: Sinter Klaas Paper (35479) - Hollyday, Santa Baby Paper (35482) - Hollyday, Cherry Nose Paper (35486) - Hollyday, Bellsnickle Paper (35487) - Hollyday, Bowl Full of Jelly Paper (35488) - Hollyday, Man With the Bag Paper (35494) - Hollyday, Jolly Old Elf Paper (35501) - Hollyday, Man With All the Toys Paper (35500) - Hollyday, Old Man Winter Paper (35480) - Hollyday, Whiskers Paper (35502) - Hollyday, White (71081) - Cardstock, Vellum Envelopes (85556) - Bits, Peppermint (72014) - Delights, Holiday House Printed Glossy Chipboard (77252) - House, Poinsettia (42202) - Remarks, Winter Wonderland (42201) - Remarks Books

Step 1: Type activities and print them out onto white cardstock. Trim them into individual pieces and set aside.
Step1

Step 2: Trim 24 pieces of Hollyday patterned paper to 2 x 4".

Step2

Step 3: On each piece of patterned paper, about a half inch up from the bottom, make a dot in the middle. Then trim/cut from the dot down to each of the bottom corners to create a piece of your banner.

Step3

Step 4: From the Man With All the Toys patterned paper, cut out numbers 1-24. Set the numbers aside.

Step4

Step 5: Set out all of the pieces of your banner and top with a vellum envelope and a number in a way that the colors/patterns are pleasing to you.

Step5

Step 6: Stitch together the tops of the banner. I did it on a very slow speed and when I got to the edge of a piece, I would just feed the next piece through my sewing machine until it was all stitched together.

Step6

Step 7: Add the vellum envelopes to each piece with the opening facing towards you. Slip in the strip with the activity printed on it. Add the numbers and embellish as desired. I didn't embellish every piece, so to make the ones I did not embellish more interesting, I used foam adhesive to attach the numbers.

Step7

Step 8: Hang up your banner and enjoy doing the daily activity leading up to Christmas!

Detail4

Such a fun idea that's sure to be a hit with the family!

More Hollyday projects will be revealed tomorrow!

Thanksgiving Week Guest Designer: Daniela Dobson

Guest Designer

This week our guest designer is the super talented Daniela Dobson!

Daniela Dobson photo
Tell us about yourself: My name is Daniela Dobson and I live in Dallas, TX. I am married to Peter and we have a little boy, Alex, who is 3 years old. He keeps me busy and my days are filled taking care of him. I have been scrapbooking and stamping for over 8 years. I really enjoy challenges and strive to be innovative. I have always kept a record of my life through journaling and photos, and scrapbooking allows me to combine those two. I don’t want to forget the important and not so important moments. I love to create cards and pages in different styles and sizes.

How did you get started scrapbooking? My love for art started at an early age and continues today. I started scrapbooking, officially, in 2003 after my cousin had a baby girl. I was collecting all the baby girl things until I had a boy!

What is your favorite American Crafts product? Thickers, they are always in style!

Thanks Card by Daniela Dobson

The journaling cards were perfect for a card. I love that some of them are perforated, no cutting involved. I added the beautiful leaves and and ribbon. I tied the button with DMC floss.

Supplies: Rust Cardstock (71465) - AC Cardstock, Garden Café Journaling Cards (64011) – Justwrite, Glitter Buttons (85563) – Elements, Spice (72016) – Delights, Garden Café Ribbon (89416) - Premium Ribbon, Field House Paepr Leaves (77258) – House, Dot Glue Runner (61713) – This To That Adhesive

Thank You Card by Daniela Dobson

I adore the colors in Amy Tangerine’s collection. I cut the circles from patterned paper to create my scalloped border. I love to use stickers, but I don’t always want to adhere them right away. I add a little baby powder to the back to remove the stickiness. When I am ready for permanent placement I add regular adhesive to the back.

Supplies: Rust Cardstock (71465) - AC Cardstock, Yes Peas Paper (35549) – Amy Tangerine, Stars Stripes & Stitches Paper (35550) – Amy Tangerine, Work In Progress Paper (35546) – Amy Tangerine, Good Company Paper (35557) - Amy Tangerine, Macaroon (72017) – Delights, Garden Café Ribbon (89416) – Premium Ribbon, All Together Fabric Border Stickers (42219) – Remarks, Savor Journaling & Accent Stickers (42210) – Remarks, Dot Glue Runner (61713) – This To That Adhesive

Thankful for Sprinkles by Daniela Dobson

I love how the colors of this collection go along with these recent photos of Alex. We were running around all day and and finally stopped for a little break and found the donut with autumn sprinkles! He was a happy boy again. I made the little tabs by stamping a strip of patterned paper with a stamp from the Spooky Nights stamp set. I folded the strip in half over the paper and added a button.

Supplies: Chocolate Cardstock (71047) - AC Cardstock, In Stitches Paper (35545) – Amy Tangerine, Oh Happy Grey Paper (35565) – Amy Tangerine, Autumn Cider Paper (35519) – Nightfall, Garden Café Journaling Cards (64011) – Justwrite, Field House Paper Leaves (77258) – House, Glitter Buttons (85563) – Elements, Lovely Straw (53243) – Thickers, Maple Pineapple (53221) – Thickers, Spooky Night (59148) – Stamps, Spice (72016) – Delights, Scarecrow (42207) – Remarks, Savor Journaling & Accent Stickers (42210) – Remarks, Copper (59527) – Pigment Ink, Dot Glue Runner (61713) – This To That Adhesive, Ash (6112) – Memory Marker

Thanksgiving 2010 by Daniela Dobson

I love the mixture of these papers and embellishments for a Thanksgiving layout. I am in love with those leaves so much that I used them all up! I made a few of my own out of patterned paper. That fabric paper is awesome and I love the frayed edges!

Supplies: You’re Golden Paper (35563) – Amy Tangerine, Oh Happy Grey Paper (35565) – Amy Tangerine, Rose Ave Paper (35551) Amy Tangerine, Lovely Paper (53243) – Amy Tangerine, Garden Café Journaling Cards (64011) – Justwrite, Elm Rust (53215) – Thickers, Field House Paper Leaves (77258) – House, Let’s Go (42215) – Remarks, Macaroon (72017) – Delights, Garden Café Decorative Tags (77256) – Bits, Savor Journaling & Accent Stickers (42210) – Remarks, Dot Glue Runner (61713) – This To That Adhesive, Ash (6112) – Memory Marker

Grateful Mini Album by Daniela Dobson

I have pretty much used these journaling cards on all the projects. For this mini album I folded the journaling cards in half and glued them shut. They are the inside pages. I covered the first and last page with patterned paper as the outside of the album. I used a Bind It All to bind the pages together. I will use this to record our Thanksgiving for the next 10 years, starting with 2008, Alex’s first Thanksgiving. The photos are small and I have a little room leftover to record what happened or what I am grateful for that year. I am using a simple paper clip to hold all my tags with years together.

Supplies: Good Company Paper (35557) – Amy Tangerine,Garden Café Journaling Cards (64011) – Justwrite, Hanging Out Paper (35560) – Amy Tangerine, Lovely Straw (53243) – Thickers, Oh Happy Grey Paper (35565) – Amy Tangerine, In Stitches Paper (35545) - Amy Tangerine, Garden Café Ribbon (89416) – Premium Ribbon, Spice (72016) – Delights, Macaroon (72017) – Delights, Dot Glue Runner (61713) – This To That Adhesive, Foam Dots (61709) – This To That Adhesive, Ash (6112) – Memory Marker

Thanksgiving week fun continues tomorrow with a beautiful trio of cards!

Chap Week Guest Designer: Lisa Truesdell

Guest Designer of the Week2

The Chap collection is perfect for Lisa Truesdell with her family of three boys! Scroll down to check out her awesome layouts, card, and home decor project!

Ltruesdell

Short bio: Lisa Truesdell lives in Omaha, NE, in a midtown neighborhood filled with big trees and old houses. She's been married to Matthew for 14 years and is a stay at home mom to their three boys - Alex, Ben, and Sam. When she's not making pages or chasing her boys, she is slowly teaching herself to use her sewing machine on fabric. She also subscribes to too many magazines and is useless from the moment she starts a new book until she finishes it. Lisa designs for Studio Calico and is a Garden Girl at Two Peas in a Bucket.

How did you get started scrapbooking? I was invited to a Stampin' Up party when I was pregnant with my oldest son (he's now 10!). I made cards for a few years (starting with his birth announcements) and eventually found my way to scrapbooking.

What is your favorite American Crafts product?
I think it's a tie between the Mixtape and the fabric brads - both find their way onto most of my projects!

Busted-ltruesdell

This photo cracks. me. UP. I started this page by grouping two similarly toned papers into a photo mat and then adding a photo. I knew I wanted to go BIG for the title, so I used my Silhouette to cut a script front from a tone-on-tone paper. I then grouped embellishments around the photo and added my journaling and stitching.

Supplies: Mark Paper (35567) - Chap, Jacob Paper (35568) - Chap, Mark Paper (35576) - Chap, Cameron Paper (35570) - Chap, Mike Paper (35572) - Chap, Tim Paper (35577) - Chap, Jared  (59152) - Stamps, John (70074) - Flair, Decorative Tags (77260) - Bits, Chap Fabric Brads (85571) - Elements, Chap Epoxy Brads (85568) - Elements, Chap Variety Buttons (85569) - Elements, Shane (42221) - Remarks, Emilio (42220) - Remarks, Decorative Tabs (77261) - Bits
Cool-ltruesdell

As soon as I saw the Chap line, I knew the colors would be perfect for scrapping these photos of my littlest dude on school picture day. I put my focal photo on the right side of the page and my smaller photos on the left, and then bridged them with an arrow sticker from the Remarks book. I also love this graphic arrow stamp - I stamped the image repeatedly without reinking for a funky look.

Supplies: Richard Paper (35573) - Chap, James Paper (35574) - Chap, Jacob Paper (35568) - Chap, Tim Paper (35577) - Chap, Ben Paper (35578) - Chap, Mike Paper (35572) - Chap, Dave Paper (35569) - Chap, Jared  (59152) - Stamps, Decorative Tags (77260) - Bits, Chap Fabric Brads (85571) - Elements, Chap Epoxy Brads (85568) - Elements, Chap Variety Buttons (85569) - Elements, Shane (42221) - Remarks, Emilio (42220) - Remarks, DecorativeTabs (77261) - Bits, Eric Surf (53251) - Thickers

T Frame by Lisa Truesdell

I picked up this wooden letter T on clearance a while back -  I wasn't sure what I'd do with it, but I'm glad I grabbed it! I covered it with strips of patterned paper, adding a few punched edges and brads for interest.

Supplies: Jacob Paper (35568) - Chap, Mike Paper (35572) - Chap, Richard Paper (35573) - Chap, Chap Variety Buttons (85569) - Elements, Chap Epoxy Brads (85568) - Elements, Alex (72023) - Delights, Ivan (89418) - Ribbon, Hans (89419) - Ribbon

Embroidered Hoop Chap Tutorial with Michelle Clement

Michelle Clement is going to show us how to make this one-of-a-kind embroidered hoop featuring Chap supplies:

Photo1

Michelle

Supplies: Jacob Paper (35568) - Chap, Mike Paper (35572) - Chap, Tim Paper (35577) - Chap, Decorative Tags (77260) - Bits, Epoxy Brads (85568) - Elements, Josh Charcoal (53253) Thickers, Josh Persimmon (53254) - Thickers; Other supplies: Embroidery Thread - Beige Fabric - Embroidery Hoop

Photo2

Step 1: Trace around the outside of your embroidery hoop with pencil, onto the fabric.

Step 2: Design your message inside this circle, deciding where you want everything to go. Cut out little strips of patterned paper and the tag you want to use (I used the one that says ''You Make My Day'').

Step 3. Using the Chap Thickers as inspiration, we're going to make some letters to stitch! Temporarily, lightly stick the letter you want on a piece of patterned paper and trace it's shape with pencil. Cut the shape out.

Photo3

Step 4. Adhere the letters to your fabric in their final placement spots, and sketch the rest of the letter details on top of them, if needed.

Step 5. Referring to the Thickers we used to trace the letters, embroider the edges of the letters to mimic the shadows.

Photo4

Step 6. Cut out a small middle from patterned paper for any of the letters that need it (like my ''O'')

Step 7. Tighten the fabric in the hoop and center it where you'd like it.

Step 8. Cut the excess fabric down to half an inch, and use a hot glue gun to glue it onto the back of the hoop, finishing the edge.

Step 9. Adhere any patterned paper pieces and embellishments onto the fabric and trim the excess.

Photo6

Step 10. Cut out a thin strip and adhere it to the sides of the hoop for a pop of color.

Photo5

All done!

Photo1

Tip: To make this quicker, or if hand-stitching isn't your favorite, simply use the Thickers in place of the letters I made from them. Easy-peasy!

Another fabulous guest designer makes her debut tomorrow!

I'm Grateful For Week Guest Designer: Stephanie Howell

Guest Designer of the Week
I'm excited to introduce the Guest Designer of the Week: Stephanie Howell! She created a bunch of lovely "I'm Grateful For" themed layouts, a card, and mini album. Keep scrolling down to see it all!

October11
Stephanie designs for Studio Calico and Jenni Bowlin Studio. She lives in Savannah and is married to Jimmy, her handsome soldier. She is also a stay-at-home mom to Harper Elizabeth (5 yrs), Sadie Caroline (3 yrs), and twin baby girls, Lucy Claire and Catherine (Cate) Bennett (11months). In her spare time she loves antiquing, reading, and watching reality tv (her dirty little secret). She dreams of learning to sew, embroider, knit, quilt, and cook (well). But most of all, she loves just being together as a family, and she relishes those moments… as they are few and far between.

How did you get started scrapbooking? A friend of mine was a Close To My Heart consultant. She invited me to one of her parties and I was HOOKED!

What is your favorite American Crafts product?
My all time favorite AC product is Lullaby Thickers in Sunflower. PLEASE bring these back AC!!!

H(AC)
H by Stephanie Howell

I wanted to do a layout where I listed all the things that make me grateful for my daughter, Harper. The paper flowers were the perfect accents for the bright, happy photos. I also love using Amy Tangerine products on my layouts because they are so feminine. The silhouette and classic custard font were just what I needed for the title.

Supplies: Field House Paper Leaves (77258) - House, Good Times (42213) - Remarks, Pond (53224) - Thickers, Garden Cafe Ribbon (89416) - Premium Ribbon, Macaroon (72017) - Delights, Savor (42210) - Remarks, Wishing (42216) - Remarks, .03 Black (62311) - Precision Pen, Dimensional Dots (61709) - This to That, Decorative Tape (61749) - Mixtape

Gratitude Album by Stephanie Howell

I have always wanted to do a gratitude daily album in the month of November. With my twins turning one on Thanksgiving and my husband home from a deployment, I decided this was the year. My heart has never been so thankful or so full and I want to document it. Right now the album is pretty bare bones. I added dates to each page and added some pages here and there. The eclectic feel of the Amy Tangerine album really made this project fun. I didn't have to "do" much. I added stickers, chalkboard labels, and a few embellishments. I plan to add more as I am working on the album and as I add photos and journaling, so follow my progress at stephaniehowell.com!

Supplies: Poppy's Pub Paper (35542) - Garden Cafe, Hug Life (76200) - Mini Book, Love Struck (59151) -  Stamps, Lovely Straw (53243) - Thickers, Pond (53224) - Thickers, Hello Ash (53246) - Thickers, Journaling Cards (64011) - Justwrite, Basic Adhesive Chalk Labels (42208) - Remarks, Good Times (42213) - Remarks, Savor (42210)  -Remarks, Scarecrow (42207) - Remarks, Let's Hang (78059) - Details, Wishing (42216) Remarks, Harvest Moon (77255) - Patchems, Oh Happy Grey Paper (35565) - Amy Tangerine, Wanderlust Paper (35548) - Amy Tangerine, Hanging Out Paper (35560) - Amy Tangerine, Hello Doily Stitched Paper (35558) - Amy Tangerine, Wishing (42216) - Remarks, Decorative Tape (61748) - Mixtape, .03 Black (62311) - Precision Pen

Gobblecard(AC)

Gobble Card by Stephanie Howell

Okay. Go easy on me. I am NOT a card maker. Not by any stretch of the imagination. Anyone that knows me knows that cards are not my forte. I love to receive them, but making them gives me hives. I decided that I was going to have FUN with this card, dang it! I really wanted to use the paper leaves and Patchem as turkey feathers so I decided to make a paper pieced turkey. No, he does not have feet. Just imagine that this is a waist up only turkey. Hahaha! I cut the body and nose from patterned paper and the uhhhhh waddle?!?! Is cut from a sticker in the Garden Cafe Remarks Book (a strawberry). The eyes are the dots from a sheet of Thickers. I let the perfectionism go. I had fun. And honestly? I kinda love this. Gobble. :)

Supplies: Fall Colors Paper (35527) - Nightfall, Harvest Moon (77255) - Patchems, Basic Adhesive Chalk Labels (42208) - Remarks, Savor (42210) - Remarks, Lovely Straw (53243) - Thickers, Custard Black (53223) - Thickers, Field House Paper Leaves (77258) - House

Thankyou(AC)

Thank You by Stephanie Howell

I have been holding on to this instagram photo for months. It was taken when my husband came back from Afghanistan and it makes my heart so happy. I thought that the phrases in the Amy Tangerine Remarks sticker book were perfect to record this moment. The six leaves on the tree symbolize the six of us being back together and our family tree being complete.

Supplies: Oh Happy Grey Paper (35565) - Amy Tangerine, Wanderlust Paper (35548) - Amy Tangerine, Hanging Out Paper (35560) - Amy Tangerine, Hello Doily Stitched Paper (35558) - Amy Tangerine, Wishing (42216) - Remarks, Pond (53224) - Thickers, Lovely Straw (53243) - Thickers, Scarecrow (42207)  - Remarks, Good Times (42213) - Remarks, Savor (42210) - Remarks, Decorative Tape (61748) - Mixtape, .03 Black (62311) - Precision Pen
