Huge congratulations to the randomly selected winner of the ginormous box of Elements, Amanda A:

Elements Screen shot 2011-02-25 at 5.50.50 AMScreen shot 2011-02-25 at 5.51.43 AMIt was fun to read what everyone's favorite Element is! AC is always coming out with the latest and greatest embellishments so stay tuned!

Finishing up this week of spectacular Elements projects is Caroline Ikeji and Amy Tan!

CarolineSupplies: Comfort and Cheer Paper (35203), Poinsettia and Pine Paper (35201), Peppermint Party Paper (35212), Sparkling Season Paper (35213), Merry Mistletoe Paper (35211), Wonderous Winter Paper (35219) - Dear Lizzy Christmas, December (35220) - Delights, Dear Lizzy Christmas Glitter Buttons (85515) - Elements, Dear Lizzy Christmas Metal Rose Brads (85513) - Elements, Dear Lizzy Christmas Mini Pearl Brads (85516) - Elements, Dear Lizzy Christmas Decorative Tape (61735) - Mixtape, Joy (42170) - Remarks, Merry Cherry (53101) - Thickers, 12x12 White Cardstock (71081) - AC Cardstock, Black 03 (62311) - Precision Pen

Caroline says, "Both of these were inspired by a pillow I saw on Tumblr (but more so the card). It had a bunch of fabric buttons lines up in rows, so I lifted that for my card design. I used a similar idea for my layout and created a little grid with the glitter buttons. I used bits and pieces of the other Elements, like the rose and pearl brads, throughout the page. I have always loved working with the Elements from American Crafts, so I loved using them for my projects this month!"

When I saw this layout Amy Tan made for her blog assignment I did a little happy dance, cuz hey, that's me with her in the pics! I've had the opportunity to meet both Caroline and Amy in real life and let me just say, they're both wicked talented and super nice!

AmySupplies: Spiffy Paper (35380) - Peachy Keen, Enchanted (61734) - Mixtape, Stream (61733) - Mixtape, Plastic Buttons (85518) - Elements, Apricot Mini Jewel Brads (85213) - Elements, Aqua Mini Jewel Brads (85210) - Elements, Sunflower Medium Jewel Brads (85226) - Elements, Leafy (89289) - Premium Ribbon, Fantastic Salmon (53108) - Thickers, Plastic Rose Brads (85522) - Elements, Delicate Paper (35413) - Hello Sunshine, Made in the Shade Paper (35379) - Peachy Keen, Large Fabric Brads (85520) - Elements, Medium Glitter Brads (85506) - Elements, Glitter Buttons (85515) - Elements

Amy says, "Any excuse to use extra Elements on a page is welcome in my book! I combined these fun photos taken by LA Photo Party with some papers from a couple new releases. The buttons and brads give the page splashes of color throughout and can easily add a unique touch to numerous projects."

CongratsSupplies: Vanilla 5x7" Cards (71343) - AC Cards & Envelopes, Delicate Paper (35413) - Hello Sunshine, Made in the Shade Paper (35379) - Peachy Keen, Stream (61733) - Mixtape, Plastic Buttons (85518) - Elements, Fantastic Salmon (53108) - Thickers, Plastic Rose Brads (85522) - Elements

"I used the scraps from the page above to make a card for a friend who is expecting her 3rd baby girl. Because the brads and stitches go through the front, once finished, I simply adhered a piece of patterned paper onto the back of the cover."

Have a happy weekend - hope it's filled with lots of scrapping and use of Elements! See you again on Monday!

Cards by Paige and Kelly

The pairs of cards you'll see here today featuring Elements were made by me, Paige Evans, and Kelly Purkey.

Paige

Supplies: 12x12 Cardstock White (71081) - AC Cardstock, Dear Lizzy Enchanted Plastic Rose Brads (85522) - Elements, Dear Lizzy Christmas Metal Rose Brads (85513) - Elements, Peachy Keen Plastic Rose Brads (85539) - Elements, Grosgrain ribbon (58444) - Premium Ribbon, Scalloped Ribbon (58336) - Premium Ribbon, Christmas 1 Ribbon (93087) - Dollar Ribbon Box, Hot Dog (89397) - Premium Ribbon, Satin Picot Ribbon (58061) - Premium Ribbon, Dear Lizzy Spring Lively (8928) - Premium Ribbon, Fantastic Limeade (53109) - Thickers, Fantastic Salmon (53108) - Thickers, Delight Robin's Egg (53073) - Thickers, Delight Cherry (53072) - Thickers, Sparkling Opal (53103) - Thickers, Marquise Mediterranean (53025) - Thickers, Typo Mustard (42979) - Thickers, Delight Watermelon (43059) - Thickers

My favorite new Elements are the plastic and metal rose brads. They pack some serious eye candy! I sprinkled some across a white card base and added matching colored ribbon below each as a stem, then topped the ribbon with matching colored Thickers to make a sentiment. All-in-all it took about 10 minutes - that's my kind of card!

I Heart U

Supplies: 12x12 Cardstock Kraft (71464) - AC Cardstock, Regards Honey (53007) - Thickers, Elements: Confetti Patterned Buttons (35530), Confetti Buttons (85529), Dear Lizzy Christmas Metal Rose Brads (85513), Mini Jewel Brads Primaries (85270), Medium Jewel Brads Primaries (85285), Large Jewel Brads Primaries (85300), Large Pearl Brads Primaries (85315), Love Mini Pearl Brads (85508), Mini Glitter Brads Primaries (85330), Medium Glitter Brads Primaries (85345), Large Glitter Brads Primaries (85360), Mini Brads Primaries (85375), Medium Brads Primaries (85390), Large Brads Primaries (85405), Glitter Buttons Primaries (85420), Round Buttons Primaries (85435), Love Buttons (85509); Other supplies: Corner rounder (Fiskars), Sewing machine (Brother), Thread (Coats & Clark)

I used a few of pretty much every style of Elements American Crafts makes in the color red (or Cherry to be exact!) to cover a scrap of cardstock cut into a heart. I started with the largest Elements (the large brads and buttons) then filled in the spaces with medium and small Elements. I can't wait to see the look on my husband's face when I give this to him for our 4th anniversary!

KellySupplies: Elated Iris Paper (35257) - Dear Lizzy Enchanted, Noble James Paper (35250) - Dear Lizzy Enchanted, Gracious Hare Paper (35252) - Dear Lizzy Enchanted, Sophisticated Jack Paper (35260) - Dear Lizzy Enchanted, Mysterious Charlotte Paper(35267) - Dear Lizzy Enchanted, Dear Lizzy Enchanted Fabric Brads (85520) - Elements

Thanks Thanks2 Supplies: Noble James Paper (35250) - Dear Lizzy Enchanted, Gracious Hare Paper (35252) - Dear Lizzy Enchanted, Sophisticated Jack Paper (35260) - Dear Lizzy Enchanted, Fashionable Peony Paper (35266) - Dear Lizzy Enchanted, Mysterious Charlotte Paper (35267) - Dear Lizzy Enchanted, Christmas Rose Brads (85513) - Elements, Maddox (42614) - Remarks

Kelly says, "Elements are one of my favorite American Crafts products because they make it so easy to add a little dose of cuteness on your projects. I kept my cards simple but when I added the fabric brads and flower brads they really seemed to come to life. The texture they bring to my cards made me so happy. I just used them as little accents to patterned paper and they were the perfect extra detail."

Check back tomorrow for the winner of the Elements giveaway (make sure to enter a few posts below if you haven't already!) and some awesome layouts and cards to wrap up the week!

Guest Designer of the Week: Lea Lawson

Guest Designer of the Week
I'm excited to introduce the Guest Designer of the Week: Lea Lawson!

BW Headshot Lea LawsonShe totally rocked the Elements on her cards, layout, and altered project!

Guest DT-Lea Lawson-Card 1Supplies: 12x12 Cardstock Ladybug (71028) – AC Cardstock, Many Splendored Paper (35180) – Love, Love Tags (85111) – Bits, Fancy (42706) – Remarks, Eternal (72005) – Delights, Love Ribbon (89384) – Ribbon, True (43381) – Minimarks, Fantastic White (53110) – Thickers, Love Buttons (85509) – Elements, Love Mini Pearl Brads (85508) – Elements

Lea says, “I really wanted to think of a cute and not so generic sentiment for this card. By cutting out just a portion of one of the Love rub ons and adding Thickers to the mix I was able to do what I wanted!”

Guest DT-Lea Lawson-Card 2Supplies: Lady Winifred Paper (35254) – Dear Lizzy Enchanted, Wise Tortoise Paper (35268) – Dear Lizzy Enchanted, Refined Percy Paper (35259) – Dear Lizzy Enchanted, Hyacinth (78041) – Details, Hardcover Brown Sugar (53137) – Thickers, Enchanted Fabric Brads (85520) – Elements, City Park Buttons (85518) - Elements

“When I need a perfectly straight line of brads I actually cut off the prongs on the back and just adhere the flat tops to my card. This way you can’t possibly mess up your perfectly straightline of brads!” What an awesome tip - thanks Lea!

“It has actually been quite awhile since I have scrapbooked, but it is a bit like riding a bike! The minute you get back on, you remember why you loved doing it! I loved using all the little bits and baubles on this layout and the buttons and brad Elements gave everything that extra special touch!”

Guest DT-Lea Lawson-Altered ItemSupplies: 12x12 Cardstock Ladybug (71028) – AC Cardstock, 12x12 Cardstock White (71081) – AC Cardstock, True (43381) – Minimarks, Love Buttons (85509) – Elements, Enchanted Brads (85521) – Elements, Love Ribbon (89384) – Ribbon

“I was having a hard time figuring out what to do for my altered item… that is, until I found this cute frame in the clearance Valentine product from Target. This frame came together quickly once I started working on it, and now I have a pretty decoration for my home and I think it can be displayed for more than just Valentine’s day!”

Here are some fun things you may not have known about Lea:

How did you get started scrapbooking?
My aunt Amy gave me a scrapbooking kit for high school graduation and I scrapbooked my entire summer as it went by. I have been hooked on paper crafting ever since.

What would you say your scrapbooking “style” is?
Hmmm… this is a hard one for me, but I will give it a try. I would say that I have a clean and graphic style, with touches of whimsy and shabby chic to give my projects some dimension!

What is your favorite technique?
I am actually not a technique oriented paper crafter. I am much more product oriented and I love to find ways to mix all of it together!

When do you find time to scrap?
I am a total night owl so most of the time you will find me paper crafting into the wee hours. I also have the advantage of working from home so I can normally squeeze some crafting time in during the day too.

On average, how long does it take you to complete a project?
Layouts take me about 2 hours to finish, from sketching out the design to adding that very last element. Cards really vary, but tend to take me about 30 minutes to finish.

What is your favorite thing about American Crafts?
What isn’t there to love about American Crafts? I love all the amazing papers that they create for each and every new collection. I love that the papers can be used on both layouts and cards alike. So many 12x12 papers are coming out that don’t work very well for card making. I love all the amazing embellishments that come with each collection, and how often you can actually mix and match between collections. And I just love the rose ribbon….{sigh}…it is my favorite!

Lea's blog is filled to the brim with inspiration so make sure to check it out!

Element Monogram Tutorial by Jen Jockisch

Raise your hand if you want to learn how to make this fabulous piece of home decor:

JenMe too me too! Thank goodness Jen Jockisch has prepared a photo tutorial to teach us all how!

Supplies needed:
- Printer
- Scissors
- Cardstock
- Pen or Pencil
- Adhesive
- Paper Piercer
- Buttons and Brads (a complete list of the Elements Jen used is at the bottom of this post)
- Frame without glass or shadowbox

Jen says, "I collect A's for my daughter Ayla, and am always looking for cute ways to make her some more. I saw a pillow on a blog that had used buttons to create a monogram and thought it would be a fun and easy way to create a wall hanging to add to her collection."

To create your monogram, begin by cutting cardstock large enough to fit in your frame. Next, you will need to print out a letter. I played around with it and printed a few to find the size and font I wanted, I ended up with Helvetica font at 700 font size. Keep in mind that you want thick lines in order to fill them up with buttons and brads. Then cut out your letter and place in the center of your cardstock, tracing the lines onto the paper. I used a light pen because I could not find a pencil anywhere, but I do think a pencil would work best.

Start placing your large buttons and/or brads onto the cardstock, keeping them as lined up with the edges as possible. Since we're using rounded Elements, you won't be able to fill the corners, but we will fill them in with smaller brads and buttons later. I used the AC tape runner to put a little adhesive on the back, I wouldn't use a liquid adhesive because you may need to rearrange some things as you go.
ACBlogFeb1Once you've filled up a large portion of your monogram, it's time to start doing the filler. For this, I just used smaller buttons and different size brads. Begin with the smaller buttons, then it's time to start with your brads. You can use all different sizes of these, you just need a small spot to poke it through, and then it can overlap with the buttons which adds a lot more dimension. I just popped them through with my hands, there's not really enough space to use a hole punch, but a paper piercer would work fine as well.
ACBlogFeb2 ACBlogFeb3
Once you've covered your letter with Elements, place it in a frame. I used an IKEA frame and just removed the glass since this isn't flat, I also think it'd be great for a shadowbox. I adhered mine to the frame on the back just to help keep it stable, the paper is fairly heavy once finished.
ACBlogFeb4
Stand back and enjoy your new creation!

Here all the Elements Jen used to create this work of art:
Variety Buttons (85509), Fabric Brads (85520), Assorted Brads (85521), Mini Pearl Brads (85516), Mini Pearl Brads (85508), Large Jewel Brads Primaries (85300), Large Jewel Brads Pastels (85301), Large Jewel Brads Metallic (85304), Large Pearl Brads Primaries (85315), Large Pearl Brads Pastels (85316), Large Perl Brads Brights (85318), Medium Jewel Brads Primaries (85218), Medium Jewel Brads Pastels (85286), Medium Jewel Brads Neutrals (85291), Mini Jewel Brads Primaries (85270), Mini Jewel Brads Pastels (85271), Mini Jewel Brads Tropicals (85272), Large Glitter Brads Tropicals (85362), Large Jewel Brads Brights (85363), Medium Glitter Brads Primaries (85345), Medium Glitter Brads Brights (85348), Medium Glitter Brads Tropicals (85347), Mini Glitter Brads Tropicals (85332), Mini Glitter Brads Pastels (85331), Mini Glitter Brads Brights (85333), Medium Brads Brights (85393), Medium Brads Tropicals (85392), Medium Brads Baby Girl (85397), Mini Brads Brights (85378), Mini Brads Tropicals (85337), Mini Brads Primaries (85375)

Now I know what to do with all my leftover brads and eyelets and buttons! Thanks for the great idea Jen!

Jenny says, "When I sit down to make cards for actual use I make sure that my card can fit into an envelope without issue. I am also always on the hunt for items I can use instead of patterned paper. I hate trimming down a lovely piece of 12x12 paper unless I plan on making several cards with that same sheet. The JustWrite Journaling Cards in The Classics line are a perfect accent piece when creating cards. They come in several patterns and strips that easily tear apart. For the "Smile" card I even used one as my sentiment. I also love that the patterns on the cards might be different then the paper in the line, I feel like I got a bonus! The Classics line will have you creating fast and simple cards in a flash."

"The first thing that came to my mind when I was looking at The Classics line was how much I love to read. I figured - what better way to showcase my favorite authors/books than a line named after them!"

Here are some fun facts about Mandie:

How did you get started scrapbooking?
I have always collected ticket stubs and cards and photos in magnetic albums. But, in 1999 when our daughter was about 6 months old, I discovered they actually made products for scrapbooking, I was hooked

What would you say your scrapbooking “style” is?
Gosh. This is always a hard question. I don't really think I have a particular "style." I just kind of do what I feel like at the time. I tend to do a lot of fussy cutting and sewing. I don't know that is a style per se.  :)

What is your favorite technique?
This one is an easy question - sewing. I sew on pretty much everything!

When do you find time to scrap?
On Mondays or over the weekend I try to get all of my chores done so I can spend some time scrapping during the next day guilt free. That doesn't always (read: rarely) happen. I also scrap sometimes when the kidlets are in bed. I also attend a local crop.

On average, how long does it take you to complete a project?
It could be anywhere between half an hour to several hours. Most likely it will land in the latter half of that range! I'm not a speedy scrapper.

What is your favorite thing about American Crafts?
The fun colors and Thickers! Love, LOVE me some Thickers!

Thanks for sharing your talent with us Mandie! Stop by her blog to see tons of other incredible scrappy goodness!

Altered Book Tutorial by Céline

Today Céline Navarro shows us how to create an altered book using The Classics line.

CélineAC Supplies: Red Fern Paper (35313) - The Classics, Dorian Gray Paper (35306) - The Classics, Tenderness (78034) - Details, 12x12 Chocolate Cardstock (71047) - AC Cardstock

"I've always loved old books. Coming from the Mixed Media community, and avid reader since my early years, I've been attracted by books for a long time. I love altered books. I love to actually change the way the book looks and still keep the great feeling of the paper between your fingers. Needless to say, I found this old vintage book at a flea market here in my town, and I so wanted to create something special for my mom, just to let her know that I love her. I simply used gesso on the inside pages, so that she can alter it the way she wants (my mom's a scrapbooker too!), but let me show you an easy and creative way to alter a nice book like this one with your favorite AC products! The Classics collection is perfect to work with when you alter something."

IMG_1130

I first glued a crocheted flower my mom made to the front cover.

IMG_1131I embossed a tag and glued it onto my crocheted flower.

IMG_1133Then I cut a banner and a heart from two different patterned papers and mounted them with brown cardstock so that you can actually see the designs and the colors of the papers better.

IMG_1134Add a felt Detail flower for a feminine touch.
IMG_1135Ta-da! It's the perfect gift for a loving mom :)

Valentine's Day Layout and Cards by Shannon and Robyn

Congrats to the randomly selected winner of the Love line from this week's giveaway, Amy Coose:

Screen shot 2011-02-11 at 8.09.50 AM Screen shot 2011-02-11 at 7.03.55 AMCheck your email Amy! Thanks to everyone who left a comment about what your favorite thing about the new Love line is - we appreciate your feedback!

To wrap up this week of love, Shannon Zickel created a Valentine's Day layout and card and Robyn Werlich created a lovely card!

ShannonSupplies: 12x12 Cardstock Chestnut (71048) – AC Cardstock, Many Splendored Paper (35180) – Love, Take a Chance Paper (35182) – Love, Can't Help Falling Paper (35177) – Love, Always Paper (35175) – Love, Heart White (53092) - Thickers, Eternal (72005) – Delights, Perch (43377) - Minimarks, Chestnut (59512) - Pigment Ink, Black .03 (62311) – Precision Pen

Shannon says, "The Many Splendored paper in the Love line can be used as a whole sheet, but I chose to grab a scalloped circle punch and use just one piece of it to create a nice accent for my page about my Lover Boy of a 12 year old!"

AC Val CardSupplies: Always Paper (35175) – Love, Endless (42164) – Remarks, True (43381) - Minimarks, Chestnut Ink (59512) - Pigment Ink

Robyn Supplies: True (43381) - MiniMarks, Love Variety Buttons (85509) - Elements, Love Cards & Envelopes (64001) - JustWrite, Love Decorative Tags (85111) - Bits, White Cardstock (71081) - AC Cardstock, Other: White string

Robyn says, "I love this new Love line from American Crafts! When I saw these grid cards in the JustWrite pack, I wanted a hundred of them! :) I have an alcove in my entry way where I do seasonal craft items and I wanted to make a little Valentine's Day item to put in my floral frog for display. This huge rub on was calling my name! Although the design of the card is simple, it makes a big impact when you walk into my home and see it because of the contrast of the blue/white/red and the large text of the rub on. So fun!"

A brand new week filled with trendy layouts, cards, and projects starts again on Monday! Have a wonderful weekend!

Guest Designer of the Week: Jill Cornell

Guest Designer of the Week
I'm so excited to announce the Guest Designer of the Week: Jill Cornell!
Jill_Cornell_HS_BW
Here are her great layouts, cards, and altered project focusing on love:
We_Love_Snow
We Love (?) Snow Supplies: 12x12 Cardstock Kraft (71464) – AC Cardstock, Sparkling Seasons Paper (35213) – Dear Lizzy Christmas, Comfort & Cheer Paper (35203) – Dear Lizzy Christmas, Can't Get Enough Paper (35181) – Love, Can't Help Falling Paper (35177) – Love, Parfait Heart (53093) - Thickers, Wine Fantastic (53107) - Thickers, Endless (42164) - Remarks, Love Mini Pearl Brads (85508) - Elements, Stream (61773) - Mixtape, Variety Buttons Love (85509) - Elements

"This winter was really the first time my twin daughters could be out playing in the snow, and they weren't quite sure what to think. The series of photos I used on my layout really captures the essence of their little personalities and their reaction to the snow. The color combination of purple, turquoise, pink, and red gave a really fresh look to a layout about winter (and coordinated just perfectly with my girls' hats and coats!). I punched snowflakes from patterned paper and accented them with buttons and twine as well as used several dimensional stickers to create a banner."

"On this layout, I wanted to create a clean look using photos of my girls for Valentine's Day this year. I punched border strips from white cardstock to create a tone-on-tone look with white cardstock as the base. I used a variety of patterned paper in pink, brown, and white behind the punched holes in the cardstock. I used another punch to add accent strips above a couple photos to add flow to the layout and then embellished the top of the layout and the focal point photo with a few simple accents."

Love_card_ACLove Card Supplies: Supplies: 12x12 Cardstock Kraft (71464) – AC Cardstock, Falling Paper (35172) – Love, Take A Chance Paper (35182) – Love, Ender's Game Paper (35317) – The Classics, Sweet Tomato (53091) - Thickers, Endless (42164) - Remarks Dimensional Stickers, Heartstrings (89384) - Ribbon

"I adore the combination of kraft, turquoise, and red and pulled together several products to create this simple card. I rounded the corners of the patterned paper at the top and bottom of the card to create a cohesive feel. I simply knotted the turquoise ribbon in a couple places and used glue dots to adhere the ribbon to the card."

"I wanted to create a piece of shabby home decor for Valentine's Day and pulled this wooden heart mobile out of my stash of things to alter. (I picked the mobile up at a local craft store for about $3.) I covered the hearts with patterned paper and added white paint around the edges to shabby it up. I embellished the largest heart with the Tenderness Details and Eternal Delights. Finally, I added Thickers, ribbon and tulle, and I had a simple, yet shabby mobile!"

Here's a fun questionnaire to get to know Jill a bit more:

How did you get started scrapbooking?
I started scrapbooking shortly after I was married in 2003. I wanted some way to document all of our photos and memories from our wedding and honeymoon. I took a break from scrapbooking layouts for a while and focused on cards and paper crafting. After the birth of my twin daughters in 2009, I had plenty of material for layouts again! :)

What would you say your scrapbooking “style” is?
My style is very feminine but I also love to use clean, linear design elements. I add feminine touches by machine stitching, distressing, and using lots of pink!

What is your favorite technique?
I love incorporating distressing techniques - whether it's by painting, inking, or sanding.

When do you find time to scrap?
I do most of my scrapbooking when my girls go to bed at night but I'll occasionally sneak in some scrapbooking during nap times too!

On average, how long does it take you to complete a project?
I plan out my projects in advance so when I actually sit down to work, it usually takes me a couple hours to put a layout together. This is after I've edited and printed photos and somewhat have a design in mind. I like to work on layouts in "batches".

What is your favorite thing about American Crafts?
Um...THICKERS! I could use Thickers on about every project. The fonts... the textures... they just add so much visual interest.

Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us Jill! Make sure to check out her inspirational blog

Mahlin says, "When scrapbooking about love I often go to song lyrics. There are so many songs out there to describe all those feelings you have trouble finding the words for. I wanted this layout to have a lot of white on it, but to get that kick of color I layered my patterned papers a couple of times. White, aqua and red together is my new favorite color combination!"

AC Love card (1 of 1)
Supplies: 4x6 Cards & Envelopes (64001) - JustWrite, 8 ½x11 White Cardstock (71273) - AC Cardstock, Blackberry Clear Stamps (59203) - Enchanted, Endless (42164) - Remarks, Aqua Gingham Ribbon (89281) - Ribbon, Cranberry (62617) - Stamp Markers, Cranberry (59517) - Pigment Ink, Black (59500) - Pigment Ink, Foam Dots (61709) - This to That, Other: Spellbinders label die

"I love the ‘JustWrite’ cards a ton. They’re seriously awesome for a quick card and can be altered and adapted to fit any occasion. I used a card from the Love collection for this one, stamped the sentiment from the ‘Enchanted’ stamp set onto white cardstock (love this quote - so true!) using the Cranberry stamp marker for the ‘Love’ word, and carefully inked the rest with my black stamp pad. I then ran the stamped image through my Big Shot with a Spellbinders label die, inked the edges with cranberry ink and added a ribbon bow. I adhered it to the card with dimensional dots, and my card was finished in about 15 minutes!"

Stick around for a fabulous Valentine's tutorial tomorrow!

Poki says,"I love all the patterns of the Love papers so I tried to use as many of them as possible. I especially liked cutting out the flowers and adding them to my page. On my layout I made a heart embellishment by looping some of the new twine ribbon. I like that this line has aqua in it so it can be used for other themes besides Valentine's day."

SuzySupplies: Falling Paper (35172) - Love, Love 4x6 Cards & Envelopes (64001) - JustWrite, Love Variety Buttons (85509) - Elements, Endless (42164) - Remarks Dimensional Stickers, Irresistable (42166) - Remarks, Sweet Bermuda (53090) - Thickers, One and Only (59108) - Clear Stamps

Suzy says, "The Love line is one of my favorites by American Crafts because my favorite colors are teal and bright pink. Add in a little kraft and you have simple perfection! I made this layout for my BFF Jamie Harper using pictures I had taken of her and her husband the last time they came out for a visit. I thought it would be fun to send it to her for Valentine’s Day (let’s hope she doesn’t look on here!). For the background of the page I opened two of the JustWrite Cards and used them behind the photos – I like the thicker paper they are made with and the size was perfect for photo mats. To draw attention to the main photo, I drew a big heart with pencil around it and then covered it with sewn on buttons. I used one of the stamps with hearts on it to add a subtle border around the elements."

Love card smallSupplies: Can’t Help Falling Paper (35177) - Love, Always Paper (35175) - Love, All You Need Paper (35171), One and Only (59108) - Clear Stamps Love, Heartstrings (89384) - Ribbon, Satin Ribbon White (57630) - Ribbon

"For my Love card, I wanted to create my own background paper and embellishment using the stamps and AC markers. I used the plain backsides of the paper and stamped the small heart border several times horizontally along the card. I then outlined the hearts in teal and colored them in with white. After I finished the pattern, I sprayed turquoise and white spray ink over it. I stamped the Love circle and then cut a scalloped circle to go behind it. I added some gel markers to it to make it more dimensional and add some shading. I LOVE markers, so the stamps and markers were super fun to use on these projects!"

Hope everyone has a "LOVE"ly weekend! Come back for more lovey dovey creations next week!

I used a variety of photos of my family at home over the last 15 years. For the journaling I used the Bits tags and hung them from one of the binder rings."

Here's a little bit more about this talented lady:

When did you get started scrapbooking?
Back in 1989, shortly after I was married, I put my honeymoon photos and memorabilia into a magnetic album that was covered with lacey fabric, complete with a matching frame. I used markers and copy paper to journal and embellish the pages. My first real introduction to scrapbooking was in 1997 when I attended a Creative Memories party. I’ve been hooked ever since.

What would you say your scrapbooking “style” is?
I think my pages are fairly structured, with a few embellishments scattered around for a touch of whimsy.

What is your favorite technique?
I love sewing on my pages and would say 90% of my layouts include sewing or hand stitching. I also love using my 1930’s Underwood typewriter for my journaling.

When do you find time to scrap?
I’m a late night and weekend scrapper. I usually work on things in stages. I’ll pick photos and product and start planning the pages during the week, and then put them together on the weekend. I like to have a couple pages planned and waiting for me so when I do have time to scrap I can start creating right away.

On average, how long does it take you to complete a project?
I’m a slow scrapbooker. I can easily spend 30 minutes or more picking out product. After I have selected my supplies and I’ve decided on a design it usually takes me two hours to put it together, depending on how much layering it includes.

What is your favorite thing about American Crafts?
I love Thickers and like to mix different fonts and colors for more interest in my titles. I also love the Mixtape. It is functional and also decorative. I could never have too many of either one of these products in my stash!

Such a great variety of projects using the Love line! Find out more about Diane by reading her blog: http://dianepayne.typepad.com/
