"I took a lot of scraps and the ends of the 12x12 sheets of patterned paper (where the company name and barcode are) and layered them to create a fun look. I then added a row of buttons and a cute cupcake for more texture."
Supplies: Fruit Punch Frannie Paper (35325) - Confetti, Neopolitan Nellie Paper (35327) - Confetti, Lucy Lemon Twist Paper (35331) - Confetti, Wishes Accents & Phrases (43390) - Minimarks
"I used the patterned paper with tons of little flowers on it, cut them out, and created a small garden on my card. I added a fun little bow and aged the sides to give it a vintage look."
Supplies: Holly Hazelnut Paper (35323) - Confetti, Coconut Cody Paper (35328) - Confetti, Marley Mocha Paper (35334) - Confetti, Candles (87649) - Boxed Ribbon, Invitation (72006) - Delights, Decorative Tags (85533) - Bits
"I took an old box and adhered patterned paper and cardstock around it to cover it."
To make the bow:
1) Cut four strips of 12x1" patterned paper.
2) Take each strip and pull the ends into the middle of the strip and glue (don't crease the ends so it stays full and fluffy).
3) Once you have done that to all the strips, layer them on top of each other and glue in place.
4) Add a paper fan flower in the center.

"I love to pull my themes from my photos and use it throughout my papers/layouts. These pictures are of my boys at the park so I created a sunny park theme. I made my grass, added the adorable flowers, cut out some clouds, and made my 'little-button-sun-framed-title'. Also I'm a BIG fan of fun journaling... so make sure you read it if you get the chance :)"
Supplies: Frankie Fudge Paper (35342) - Confetti, Suzie Strawberry (35330) - Confetti, Coconut Cody Paper (35328) - Confetti, Confetti Clubhouse Glitter Chipboard (77247) - House, Heart Parfait (53093) - Thickers, Invitation (72006) - Delights, Pin the Tail (42186) - Remarks

I only spent about 45 minutes on this layout. When creating a simple layout I use larger embellishments and bright patterned papers."
Here's a little get-to-know Heidi:
How did you get started scrapbooking?
I've been a crafter from the beginning! I can remember playing under quilting bees as a child and handing the needle back up to my mom. When I was six I learned how to sew and I would sell Barbie clothes to my friends that I made. When I was seven my mother would have me practice calligraphy and when I was ten I had a best friend and her mother loved Stampin' Up! Every time I went to her home she would let me play with the stamps. When I was 11 I was hooked on anything crafty. When I was 14 I received my very first scrapbook album and I filled it in a month. I'm now 29 going on 30 and I scrap every single day. I heart this hobby so much!
Heidi always has fun things she's made and scrappy inspiration on her blog - check it out!

Birthday Calendar Tutorial by Wendy
Do you have a hard time remembering birthdays? Well now you won't miss a birthday ever again! With this cute homemade birthday calendar tutorial by Wendy McKee you'll always be the first to wish your friends and family a happy birthday!
Supplies: Very Berry Bree Paper (35335), Triple Chocolate Charlie Paper (35332), Frankie Fudge Paper (35342), Betty Bundt Paper (35324), Ruby Raspberry Ripple Paper 35345), Marley Mocah Paper (35334), Holly Hazlenut Paper (35323), Cherry Chip Paper (35336), Neapolitan Nellie Paper (35327), Darbie Devils Food Paper (35339) - Confetti, Cheer Banana (53156) - Thickers, Glitter Shapes (77247) - House
Wendy says, "As soon as the Confetti line arrived I knew I wanted to make a birthday calendar for my elder sister to use in her classroom at work. This is based on a sheet of transparency but can easily be done using cardstock."
First off I had to print out the square shapes for the calendar words on it.
I then cut them out and spent awhile arranging them on the squares to make sure that I was happy with the arrangement.
Before adhering them down I added stitching lines to the bottom of them, just to add some detail.
I then chose six of the glitter embellishments that I loved the look of. Using two square punches I punched out squares from patterned papers from the Confetti line. I tried to match the colours in the squares with the colour of the embellishments and layered them up.
I used some more of the Confetti paper to add some rectangle strips across the top of the transparency for a base for the title and then used the Confetti glitter Thickers for the title.
I printed off some names and dates to show you how I will fill the calendar up with the children’s names.
And here is the final project!
This was a very quick and easy project to make and I hope the children like it in their classroom!

Springtime Décor Tutorial by Jenny
Check out what we're going to learn how to make today with a step-by-step photo tutorial by Jenny Chesnick:
Supplies: Gleam Paper (35414) - Hello Sunshine, Breezy Paper (35406) - Hello Sunshine, Glow Paper (35408) - Hello Sunshine, Radiant Paper (35396) Hello Sunshine, Sparkle Paper (35410) - Hello Sunshine, Dainty Paper (35404) - Hello Sunshine, Spree Paper (35400) - Hello Sunshine, Delight Paper (35399) - Hello Sunshine, Fabric Brads (85544) - Elements, Sunny Side (72010) - Delights, Sunbeam (72011) - Delights, Sunshine (72012) - Delights, Good Morning (42194) - Remarks, Twine (58477) - Specialty Ribbon
Jenny says, "I am a huge fan of altered items for my home. When I received Hello Sunshine I knew this line was perfect for some springtime décor! I picked up this birdcage at my local craft store and was itching to do something fun with it. So let’s get started!"
I used five sheets of patterned paper and punched out 3.75” circles from them and then cut the circles in half. As a base line I used the edge of one of the sheets of patterned paper then started layering my half circles up the back.
When you are finished layering the half circles it should look something like this:
The backside is by far was the most time consuming part of the project. Now onto the fun stuff, decorating! Once I was done with the back I moved on to making some accents to decorate my birdcage. I used a handy die I have to create six pinwheels. This die is awesome! It not only cuts your lines it also punches the holes you need to put your pinwheels together.
I finished off the pinwheels with fabric brads. I used fabric because they are flat and create a nice base for adding embellishments.
I used the pinwheels as the base for the back, layering them up in a pleasing pattern. I also
attached Delights to the centers on several pinwheels.
To finish up the project I added some more elements from Hello Sunshine. I used pretty butterfly Delights, Remarks stickers, and more floral Delights.
Once I inserted the back into the birdcage I used the tutorial from Alisha to create a small circle banner to attach to the front alongside the other elements.
When all is said and done you have a lovely piece to hang anywhere in your home!
Such a beautiful piece of art Jenny - thanks for sharing your tutorial with us!

We were so excited that she had done this on her own and it looked so beautiful to us. This is why I titled the page 'Brilliant Artist'. She has an amazing eye for art."

I wanted to do something with all the photos I took of my son besides put them in regular albums. I walked past a Creating Keepsakes Magazine in the grocery store shortly after and fell in love.

Robyn says, "I was so thrilled when the Hello Sunshine line came out because first, yes, it's totally darling, but also because it is the colors of my daughter's bedroom! So this week, I decided to pull-out the cute Delights and Details stickers and that cute hot pink doily paper and make a framed project for her room. She just loves it! It sits next to her lamp on her end table and she was so thrilled that I had done it for her."
A trio of simply irresistable cards and the winner of the Campy Trails line is in store for tomorrow!

Suzy says, "When I was given the blog assignment of using the Campy Trails line, I was a bit nervous. I tend to gravitate to bright colors and girlie products and I DON’T camp, so I wasn’t sure if I could do this line justice. I realized as I dove in that Campy Trails (despite the name) works well with many different themes other than just camping. The colors are perfect for boy pages, so I actually scrapped the boys in my life (which I don’t do often because they don’t usually wear pink)! I love the new border strips that are on all the pieces of patterned papers, so I cut many of them off and used them to create a woven frame around the photo on my Wild Animal Park page. I also fell in love with the woodgrain papers for backgrounds. The patterns are just subtle enough to provide a perfect backdrop for all my page elements. I hope you enjoy using this line as much as I did – I actually think I will be turning to it quite a bit in the future even though I will NOT be doing any camping! :)"
Supplies: Stumpy Meadow Paper (35347) – Campy Trails, 12x12 Cardstock Kraft (71464) – AC Cardstock, Wolf Creek Paper (35362) – Campy Trails, Sweetwater Cabin Paper (35367) – Campy Trails, Mountain Gate Park Paper (35355) – Campy Trails, Sunset Point Ppaer (35356) – Campy Trails, Hike (42190) – Remarks, Fabric Brads (85535) – Elements, Path (42189) – Remarks Dimensional Stickers, Meadow Mediterranean (53165) - Thickers, Forest Chestnut (53159) – Thickers, Campy Trails Borders (53167) – Thickers, Stream (78045) – Details, Tent (59141) – Clear Stamps
Pooi says, "I was excited to receive the new Campy Trails line! It is so ideal for scrapbooking the little boy in my life. He loves outdoor activities, enjoys the greenery, and nature. Every Sunday we explore different parks, mountains, through the woods to a world of fun. I really love the new Thickers the border Thickers are especially amazing!"
Supplies: Elk Creek Trail Paper (35354) – Campy Trails, 12x12 Cardstock Stone (71079) – AC Cardstock, Wolf Creek Paper (35362) – Campy Trails, Fabric Brads (85535) – Elements, Hotdog (89397) – Premium Ribbon, Hike (42190) – Remarks Stickers, Trailer (59140) – Clear Stamps
"I used the clear stamps to stamp the words ‘star light, star bright’ and followed with embossing. I also punched out a few circle scallops to enhance the card. I simply adore the deer sticker!"
Look for a fun bonus post tomorrow morning!

Caroline says, "I love the Campy Tails line - I love the woodgrain and I love the cute outdoorsy images on them. For the first card, I used a Patchem for my sentiment. I wanted to add more fabric textures, so I used a piece of the ribbon and pleated it, holding it into place with brads. I added paper strips and a chipboard border to finish it off. For my second card, I created a scene with the chipboard borders, tree sticker, and felt Detail house. I added banners that I cut from patterned paper. So fun!"

His mind is always going a mile a minute and it's so fun to take him to new and exciting places so that he can soak up lots of new knowledge and experiences! "I made this camping invitation for later on this summer. My family and I haven't been able to go camping the last few years but we are hopeful that we'll get to this year! What better way to invite our friends camping by inviting them with a cute handmade card?"
Here's a little get-to-know-Jillian better questionnaire:
How did you get started scrapbooking?
I started scrapbooking back in high school, almost ten years ago. I have always loved taking photos and I had photo albums full of them back then. I went over to my friend's house one day and she pulled out her scrapbooks to show me, I was in awe! They were just pages full of photos, magazine clippings, and glitter stickers but to me they were the coolest thing ever. After that day I started going over to her house and we would spend our weekends scrapping together, I was hooked! I have never stopped since.
What would you say your scrapbooking “style” is?
It's so hard for me to define my style! I love clean lines and lots of layers. One of my friends told me that my style was 'trendy' because I love using the latest and greatest scrapping supplies. Shopping for scrapbook supplies is probably my second favorite hobby, with actual scrapbooking itself being my first favorite, of course.
What is your favorite technique?
Just recently I bought some scrapbooking chalks tried them out. Ever since I have been chalking everything! It's my new favorite technique as of now.
When do you find time to scrap?
Normally the only time I get to scrapbook is at night after my son goes to bed. I'm a night owl so I feel most creative at night for the most part. At times I'll try to do some scrapbooking during the day but I never get to do it for long before I get interrupted!
On average, how long does it take you to complete a project?
When I'm creating a layout it usually takes me anywhere from 2 to 4 hours to complete a layout, depending on how detailed it is. Altered items take about the same amount of time. Cards are quicker and generally only take about an hour or so to create.
What is your favorite thing about American Crafts?
I have loved American Crafts from the beginning! I think I have just about every single set of Thickers that they have ever come out with - I can't scrap without my Thickers! I adore their papers and that every paper collection has a wide variety of embellishments to go along with them. I will always love American Crafts and am always looking forward to the wonderful things they will come out with next!
Jillian has a really cute blog where she posts tons of scrappy inspiration! Check it out here!

Campy Trails Layouts and Cards by Céline and Melanie

Supplies: Salmon Cove Paper (35366) - Campy Trails, Snake River Paper (35352) - Campy Trails, Aplleton Cove (35348) - Campy Trails, 12x12 White Cardstock (71081) - AC Cardstock, Forest Chestnut (53159) - Thickers, Fabric Brads (85535) - Elements, Dimensional Tabs (61710) - This to That, Basic Ribbon Spools 2 Yards (58228) - Premium Ribbon, Foutain Large (59200) - Clear Stamps
Supplies: Cedar River Trail Paper (35359) - Campy Trails,Aplleton Cove Paper (35348) - Campy Trail, Bliss Paper (35395) - Hello Sunshine, Sunrise Limeade (53179) - Thickers, Fabric Brads (85535) - Elements, Medium Brads (85537) - Elements
Céline says, "Campy Trails is one of my new favorite lines from American Crafts. I just love the colors, the textures, and the modern feel to it. What I like is that you can use it for whatever theme you want: holidays, travels, family, portraits... I couldn't resist making a layout for my best friends who went to Madagascar last year. The colors of the landscapes are just perfect to match this line! I wanted a pretty simple and design layout in order to make the photo pop from the background."
Supplies: 8 ½ x 11 White Cardstock (71273) - AC Cardstock, Timberline Resort Paper (35357) - Campy Trails, Mountain Gate Park Paper (35355) - Campy Trails, Silver Lake Trail Paper (35346) - Campy Trails, Cedar River Trail Paper (35359) - Campy Trails, Mediterranean Meadow (53165) - Thickers, 4x6 Journaling Cards (64009) - JustWrite, Trailer (59140) - Clear Stamps, Stream (78045) - Details, Fabric Brads (85535) - Elements, Purkey (43273) - Minimarks, Chestnut (59512) - Pigment Ink, Dot Glue Runner (61713) - This to That, Dimensional Dots (61709) - This to That
Melanie says, "I recently came into possession of my parent’s huge photo album collection and found these photos of us during a camping trip to Banff in 1992. I knew before I saw Campy Trails in person that I would adore it. I love the decidedly retro 50’s feel - right up my alley! And it was a great match for these photographs, as the blues and greens go just perfectly with the mountains and woodsy backdrop. My mom was a quasi scrapbooker and I found the panorama of my photographs of the Rockies taped together in her book (with yellowing scotch tape, no less). I decided to use it ‘as is’ and trimmed the ends to fit my landscape page. (The entire layout is a 2 page stacked 8 ½ x 11 ). The rest of the photos are 4 x 6 and I just trimmed them down to fit my page. Making this layout brought back some great memories for me and turned out to be one of the most favourite layouts I’ve made in a while."
Supplies: 8 ½x11 White (71273) - AC Cardstock, Cedar River Trail Paper (35359) - Campy Trails, Appleton Cove Paper (35348) - Campy Trails, Silver Lake Trail Paper (35346) - Campy Trails, Hello There (59213) - Clear Stamps, Chestnut (59512) - Pigment Ink, Dot Glue Runner (61713) - This to That, Dimensional Dots (61709) - This to That
"I made this card right after finishing my layout with the scraps I had left on the table. The woodgrain paper is so cool and versatile, one of my faves. I used two different coloured pieces of that as the base, added the decorative perforated strip from one of the papers, and placed my stamped sentiment on top using dimensional dots. I cut out the deer from the Silver Lake Trail paper and adhered them in a line down the middle. This card was done in 15 minutes flat, no fuss!"
Tomorrow is a fun photo step-by-step tutorial you won't want to miss!

Jennifer Gallacher created a trio of totally cute cards showcasing American Crafts ribbon.
Supplies: 12x12 Cardstock Ash (71078) - AC Cardstock, 12x12 Cardstock Sunflower (71038) - AC Cardstock, 12x12 Cardstock White (71081) - AC Cardstock, Mother Always Says Paper (35388) - Peachy Keen, Sweet on You Paper (35374) - Peachy Keen, Fancy Free Paper (35377) - Peachy Keen, Corduroy Brads (85538) - Elements, Bowtie Ribbon Card (89398) - Premium Ribbon, Bellflower Clear Stamp (59202) - Stamps, Thanks Clear Stamp (59007) - Stamps, Mustard (59515) - Pigment Ink, Black (59500) - Pigment Ink, Charcoal (59501) - Pigment Ink, Dimensional Tabs (61710) - Adhesives
"I hardly feel my cards are complete without a little ribbon on them. It adds a touch of femininity to these stamped cards. But you can also use ribbon in a masculine fashion when you pair it with a corduroy brad. On the bee stamped card, I was inspired by the look of a tux with the silk ribbon running across the patterned paper, and the gray ribbon hanging down from the brad. Little details and textures can take a card from "ho-hum" to "wow," and I'm always about a personal touch when I'm sending cards to people I love. You can also change up a ribbon's look on a card by tying the ribbon into a bow or into a knot. You could also double up two different widths of ribbon for an entirely new look. Really the ideas are endless!"

"I was noticing one day how we have a million nicknames for my daughter and that even our family and friends have started calling her the things her dad and I call her. Even the really silly ones like 'munchie' which is short for 'munchkin'! I wanted to create a layout to document all the different names we have for her. The overall design of the page is one I have noticed I use a lot on my layouts: the large column on one side of the paper! It's easy to change it up every time I use it, this time with some ribbon and some different papers in the background."

"I like to take photos of really random things sometimes… like my husband mowing our jungle lawn, which was filled with weeds! ;) I was debating how to use it on a layout and decided to write about summer in general and how things like yard work sometimes get put on hold for the more fun activities. Because the photo is larger (a 5x7) I decided to put the title on the photo itself to save room on the page for more journaling and extra fun stuff!"
Supplies: Wise Tortoise Paper (35268) – Dear Lizzy Enchanted, Friendly Finch Fabric Paper (35163) – Dear Lizzy Spring, Fairmont Gardens Paper (35242) – City Park, Balboa Park Paper (35236) – City Park, Hyde Parke Paper (35238) – City Park, Secret Garden Paper (35294) – The Classics, Ender Paper (35317) – The Classics, A la Carte (71001) - Patterned Paper Pack, Fancy Strawberry (53111) – Thickers, Satin w/ Pleated Ruffle Edges (89278) – Premium Ribbon, Sunflower with Woven Strips (58291) – Premium Ribbon, Gazeebo (42176) – Remarks Dimensional Stickers
"I’ve had these photos for over a year, but could never seem to figure out what to do with them. I love putting together fun color schemes, so I decided to use the stripes in my daughter’s pajamas as inspiration for the colors of this layout. I started a layout with a sun and rays like this a very, very long time ago and never finished it! I thought this would be the perfect layout to recreate the idea."
Supplies: Ender Paper (35317) – The Classics, Delicate Paper (35413) – Hello Sunshine, 12x12 Cardstock Coffee (71049) – AC Cardstock, 12x12 Cardstock Apricot (71031) – AC Cardstock, Confetti (85533) – Bits, The Classics Medium Brads (85525) – Elements, Coffee (5822) – Premium Ribbon, Lemon (58289) – Premium Ribbon, Everyday 2 2010 (93049) – Dollar Ribbon Spool
"I will be honest… making cards really intimidates me! Layouts come much more naturally to me! I was trying to think of a creative way to use ribbon on my card, other than just tying it in a traditional way. I saw a layout somewhere that had a cake with candles on it and I thought it would be a fun idea for a card, just on a smaller scale."
Supplies: Ender Paper (35317) – The Classics, A Wrinkle in Time Paper (35301) - The Classics, Elated Iris Paper (35257) - Dear Lizzy Enchanted, Delicate Paper (35413) – Hello Sunshine, Brilliance Paper (35415) - Hello Sunshine, Hyde Park Paper (35238) – City Park, Sunny Aqua (53119) - Thickers, Coffee (5822) – Premium Ribbon, White Rose (58205) – Premium Ribbon, Pearl Brads, Classics (85527) – Premium Ribbon, Classics (77246) - Bits
"This card uses one of my favorite techniques, which is really not a technique at all but just something I love: putting lots of different non-matching monochromatic papers together! I cut one small section out of flowered ribbon to make a single flower for the card."

"Lately I have been trying to use my craft supplies to make things for my daughter. I decided to make a mini album of colors for her, one page for each color. However, after creating all the pages I realized it was much too thick for a mini. So instead I just left them as individual cards so she can take them out and play with them individually. I had planned on sewing all the elements down, but after three bent needles, I decided that perhaps my sewing machine was not made to sew on cardboard! ;) I may go back and hand stitch everything down later to ensure that she doesn’t take any of it apart!"
Here's a little get-to-know-Emily questionnaire:
How did you get started scrapbooking?
I started scrapbooking in about fifth grade when I made some really fantastic pages using typing paper and crayon-written titles. It was love at first scotch-taped down page! ;) I have been doing it ever since, though I’ve graduated to some more advanced products! I started scrapping more seriously in about 2004 after I got married and moved into a space big enough to hold all my stash!
What would you say your scrapbooking “style” is?
It is really hard for me to describe my style. I would say colorful and simple, but with fun little extras.
What is your favorite technique?
My favorite technique might be that I don’t really use techniques! But really, I like to outline things or ink the edges, and as I mentioned I really love putting together fun color schemes on layouts.
When do you find time to scrap?
Now that I am a mom (with another little one due in a couple weeks!) I have to scrap mostly at night or on a rare night out to crop with friends.
On average, how long does it take you to complete a project?
It takes me anywhere from 45 minutes to a couple hours… or even days. Sometimes I will start something and completely lose my mojo and need to set it aside for awhile. I feel like my pages probably look like they are created pretty quickly, but I am actually really picky and am constantly moving and changing things until I’m happy.
What is your favorite thing about American Crafts?
I really can’t choose just one! I love Thickers… who doesn’t? But I also really love all of the different American Crafts monochromatic papers. I don’t do well with big prints, and I love that I can always count on AC for some fun colors and great patterns. I also really love a lot of the new embellishments like the Bits and the Delights. So fun!
Thanks so much for sharing all of your crafty goodness with us Emily! Make sure to sign up to read her blog for tons more eye candy!
Come back a little bit later today for a chance to win oodles of spools of ribbon!

Ribbon Headband Tutorial by Becky
Becky Williams made three simply adorable headbands with step-by-step photos to share with you wonderful readers today.
"I was asked to create a tutorial using American Crafts ribbon. The possibilities were absolutely endless with all the varieties of AC ribbon available and I decided that I’d make some hair accessories which, of course, my girls were thrilled about. And, because I have three girls I couldn’t make just one to show you. This project is relatively quick and simple to make and you can use whatever AC ribbon you might have on hand."
Materials needed:
-basic headbands
-assorted American Crafts ribbons/trim
-scissors
-strong adhesive (I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive)
-assorted embellishments to add to headband (buttons, brads, flowers, etc.)
-needle and thread
-felt or other fabric
Headband #1 Supplies: Pond City Park Ribbon (89392) – Ribbon, Frisbee (78038) - Details, Tenderness (78034) - Details
For this first headband, starting at one end of the headband, wrap the ribbon around securing it with liquid adhesive. I made sure to wrap it quite tightly so that there was no bunching up of the ribbon.
Once you’re finished wrapping the ribbon around, choose your embellishments. I went with two felt Details from the Love line and one from the City Park collection. I removed the top two layers of the Love flowers so that the other flower would sit flat on top. Layer the flowers and adhere them to the headband.
In order to keep the flower securely on the headband adhere a small piece of felt or ribbon to the back as shown.
Headband #2 Supplies: Black rosette ribbon (58182) – Ribbon, Dear Lizzy Enchanted Plastic Rose Brads (85522) – Elements
This second one is quite simple. All you have to do is add the brads along the trim and adhere it to the headband. I wrapped the ribbon around to the underside of the headband on each end and scrunched up the trim so that the purple from the headband wouldn’t show through.
Headband #3 Supplies: Duchess Dear Lizzy Enchanted Ribbon Card (89389) - Ribbon, Dear Lizzy Enchanted Fabric Brads (85520) - Elements, Coffee Ribbon Spool (58225)- Ribbon
For this last headband, wrap the base headband with your chosen ribbon as with the first one. Next, choose 24 inches of ribbon for making the flower. I chose this sheer brown ribbon. Using a needle and thread, do a running stitch (simply in and out) across the length of the ribbon and then pull the thread lightly to gather the ribbon and then tie it off.
Apply liquid adhesive to a piece of felt or other fabric and starting with the outer edge, adhere the ribbon to the fabric going in a clockwise direction until you get to the center of the flower.
Add a fabric brad to the center of the flower.
Adhere the flower to the headband and add a piece of felt to the back to help hold it in place as we did on the first headband.
Here they are, all three finished headbands!
I think you can tell by the smiles on their faces that my girls were pretty excited about these new headbands!
Simple, easy, quick, and most of all, CUTE! These ribbon headbands are sure to put a smile on any little girl's face.
Tomorrow we have another talented guest designer! See you then!
