Guest Designer of the Week: Michelle Clement
I'm excited to announce the guest designer of the week (who is actually now on the Design Team for 2011-2012!): Michelle Clement!
You'll love her assortment of mini projects!
Supplies: Stumpy Meadow Paper (35347) - Campy Trails, Big Pine Creek Paper (35369) – Campy Trails, Powder Point Camp Paper (35368) – Campy Trails, Silver Lake Trail Paper (35346) - Campy Trails, Empanada Paper (35429) - Margarita, Deer (77249) – Patchems, Forest Vanilla (53162) - Thickers, Decorative Tags (85534) - Bits
"I wanted to document a really fun hammock-camping trip my husband and I took because I often forget to photograph our camp set-up (with the motorcycle we travel on) in a shot. The ‘you’re such a deer’ Patchems was perfect, because the mister is patient with me and camping - and the Campy Trails colors went with the photos perfectly! I added some circle punched from patterned paper for pops of color and to draw the eye into the photos, and painted the top edge with watered down acrylic paint for balance."
Supplies: Havana Paper (35435) - Margarita, Stumpy Meadow Paper (35347) – Campy Trails, Powder Point Camp Paper (35368) - Campy Trails, Silver Lake Trail Paper (35346) - Campy Trails, Decorative Tags (85534) - Bits, Super Swell (42193) - Remarks, Deer (77249) - Patchems
"This card was inspired by the Campy Trails Patchems with the mountains and sky scene on it. I cut the house from a tag and set it on there to see how it would look and then I fell in love with the mini-scene and added a tent, a skunk, a tree – and voila! A cute little dimensional scene that’s full of texture. The all-occasion message also makes it great for everything from ‘I like you’ to ‘that was a great trip!’"
Supplies: Delight Paper (35399) – Hello Sunshine, Caramel Candie Paper (35337) – Confetti, Good Golly Gee Paper (35375) – Peachy Keen, Merengue Paper (35438) - Margarita, Big Pine Creek Paper (35369) – Campy Trails, Dainty Paper (35404) - Hello Sunshine, Sunset Blush (53182) – Thickers, Cake (78042) – Details, Glitter Chipboard Clubhouse (77247) - House
"This is one of my favorite photos of little me that my mom took at my fifth birthday party – it’s the look of surprise on my face when I opened my favorite elephant stuffed animal ‘Wrinkles’. He followed me around for years so I love that this moment was captured – it deserves a page of its own! I used bright colors to capture the feel of the party and girly details like cupcakes and glitter shapes to add a little dimension to the page. I didn’t journal a lot – just a few key points – because I think the photo says it all and wanted to keep the focus there."
Supplies: Empanada Paper (35429) – Margarita, Betty Bundt Paper (35324) - Confetti, Super Swell (42193) - Remarks, Forest Vanilla (53162) Thickers, Clubhouse Glitter Chipboard (77247) - House
"I don’t often see a lot of ‘great job!’ cards out there and this notebook sticker inspired one from me. The glitter shape reminded me of the tops of the award ribbons you get in contests so I used stickers to create the bottom of the award as the perfect congratulatory embellishment. I lightly sanded the Thickers and painted them orange so they stood out on the light background paper."
Supplies: Havana Paper (35435) – Margarita, Calypso Paper (35433) - Margarita, Merengue Paper (35438) - Margarita, Delight Paper (35399) – Hello Sunshine, Peachy Keen Rose Brads (85539) - Elements, Getaway (78050) - Details, Super Swell (42193) – Remarks, Macaw Sunshine (53188) – Thickers, Margartia Decorative Tags (85552) – Bits, 4x6" Journaling Cards (64010) - JustWrite
"I fondly remember our house with the apricot tree in the backyard and the summers we spent there with it. This photo is of my sister and I and our grandparents house (I love that Grandpa is in the tree, too!). The bright colors of the Margarita line matched my nineties bathing suit really well and also captured the happiness of this summer memory for me. I used strips of patterned paper to draw the eye across the page and that lovely felt butterfly helps draw attention to the photo and journaling."
Supplies: Macaw Sunshine (53188) - Thickers, Forest Vanilla (53162) - Thickers, Campy Trails Fabric Brads (85535) - Elements, Cake (78042) - Details, Campy Trails Decorative Tags (85534) - Bits, Super Swell (42193) – Remarks, Empanada Paper (35429) – Margarita, Peppy Paper (35405) – Hello Sunshine, Breezy Paper (35406) – Hello Sunshine, Dainty Paper (35404) – Hello Sunshine, Frolic Paper (35403) – Hello Sunshine, Big Pine Creek Paper (35369) – Campy Trails, Bow Tie (89398) – Ribbon, Delight Paper (35399) - Hello Sunshine, Dainty Paper (35404) - Hello Sunshine, Peachy Keen Rose Brads (85539) - Elements
"I’ve been working on learning how to use my new digital camera so I had a ton of close-up photos from around my home – the little things like embroidery projects in progress, what I’m crocheting, the edge of my new glasses – and I thought they were really great little bits of life to document for my future self. I decided to call the album ‘Cupcakes of My Life’ because the photos seemed like really special bits of my life, like cupcakes: they’re tasty, yummy treats that you get on happy occasions. I cut the photos down and stitched bits of patterned paper right onto the sides of them for a little color and texture. I journaled about the photos on the back with a marker (so as not to clutter the eye candy), and added a little stitched mosaic of paper bits to the cover (which was made from a saved paper bag). I bound it with a metal ring and crocheted chains, and put my introduction page to the album and the title on the inside of the cover."
We asked Michelle a few questions to find out more about her and here are her answers:
How did you get started scrapbooking?
I got started in 1997 after taking a beginner’s class with my sister and mom at a local shop (complete with Disney stickers and cutting photos into star shapes!). I scrapped with my family after that and then had an assignment in high school to make a scrapbook for English class which is when I fell in love with it in a whole new way. I started scrapbooking regularly then (in a more artsy fashion) and even worked in my local scrapbook store for awhile. It wasn’t until five years ago that I discovered the wonderful online community of scrapbookers and I’ve since had the chance to work with some awesome companies.
What would you say your scrapbooking “style” is?
My style is very artsy, detailed, and layered. I like to say it looks fairly handmade, too. Maybe even freestyle? I use a lot of paint and scrumple my paper edges and I also include a lot of handmade details like stitching and wooden letter-by-letter stamping.
What is your favorite technique?
My favorite technique is painting – actually, any wet medium! Paint, dye, ink, and mist top my list – it’s hard for me to do a page without them!
When do you find time to scrap?
I usually scrapbook at night, after work – though I do sometimes pull out my supplies on the weekend (it’s so nice to scrapbook with sun streaming in my windows!). Often, I’m burning the midnight oil.
On average, how long does it take you to complete a project?
I’m a pretty slow scrapbooker – I like to take my time, push things around, sew, wait for paint to dry – lol. I usually average 2-3 hours per page, but I work on multiple pages at the same time.
What is your favorite thing about American Crafts?
My favorite things about American Crafts are the bright patterned papers (with such cute, eye-pleasing patterns!) that are so versatile they work with every page ‘occasion’! I’m also an embellishment junkie and really love the Patchems, Flair, and glitter Thickers.
Michelle has a really great blog so make sure you stop by and leave some love!

I also like that it's slightly vintage with a twist of modernism. It's versatile, and you can use it for all occasions. For instance, I created three everyday cards using this collection."

This week we're showcasing the wonderful talent of Sarah Webb!
From favorite design elements and subjects to techniques and product, Sarah gives you a glimpse of her favorites with the following layouts, cards, and fun unique project!
Supplies: White (71081) - Cardstock, Easy as Pie Paper (35393) - Peachy Keen, My Darling Paper (35390) - Peachy Keen, Dear Borders (53176) - Thickers, Doll Black (53168) - Thickers, Reinforced Decorative Tags (85543) - Bits, Super Swell (42193) - Remarks, Confetti Patterned Buttons (85530) - Elements, Strip Glue Runner (61712) - This to That, Dimensional Dots (61709) - This to That
"One of my favorite design elements is grids. There are so many different ways to use or add a grid to a page. I decided that I would use triangles for my grid and would build the page once I had my grid down. I like the grid off to one side, it gives the design element a different spin. This also happens to be one of my most recent favorite pictures of our daughter. Suddenly so grown up!"
Supplies: Cedar River Trails Paper (35359) - Campy Trails, Spree Paper (35400) - Hello Sunshine, Holy Moly Paper (35391) - Peachy Keen, Peanut Butter Benny Paper (35322) - Confetti, Cake (78042) - Details, Strip Glue Runner (61712) - This to That
"I really enjoy felt embellishments for making cards because they provide a quick and easy focal point. I simply used the colors in the cupcake as cues to build the card." Supplies: Apricot (71031) - Cardstock, White (71081) - Cardstock, Empanada Paper (35429) - Margarita, Merengue Paper (35438) - Margarita, Guacamole Paper (35437) - Margarita, Havana Paper (35435) - Margarita, Journaling Cards (64010) - JustWrite, Iguana Azure (53192) - Thickers, Confetti Patterned Buttons (85530) - Elements, Super Swell (42193) - Remarks,Strip Glue Runner (61712) - This to That, Dimensional Dots (61709) - This to That
"These are favorite pictures of our little guy. The color of the pictures was terrible, no computer program was going to save these shots, but converting them to black and white did. As soon as I saw the bright orange (little man's favorite color), I knew that these black and white photos would suit the bright colors of the Margarita line, perfectly!"
Supplies: Kraft (71464) - Cardstock, Vanilla (71041) - Cardstock, Gossamer Paper (35409) - Hello Sunshine, Spree Paper (35400) - Hello Sunshine, Cedar River Trails Paper (35359) - Campy Trails, Caribou Creek Paper (35351) - Campy Trails, Havana Paper (35435) - Margarita, Chestnut Serenade (53153) - Thickers, Iguana Azure (53192) - Thickers, Reinforced Decorative Tags (85534) - Bits, Campy Trails Fabric Brads (85535) - Elements, Strip Glue Runner (61712) - This to That, Dimensional Dots (61709) - This to That
"Another favorite design of mine is stacking three pictures. I love a series of pictures that really captures a moment or an experience. Our little guy could not resist the little pond on the deck at a friend's house. The Campy Trails Bits tags were perfect to add some color and visual interest."
Supplies: Raspberry (71019) - Cardstock, Vanilla (71041) - Cardstock, Merengue Paper (35438) - Margarita, Empanada Paper (35429) - Margarita, Guacamole Paper (35437) - Margarita, Margarits Printed Variety Tags (85552) - Bits, Strip Glue Runner (61712) - This to That, Dimensional Dots (61709) - This to That
"I think that it is always fun to receive a brightly colored card in the mail. The Margarita line was perfect for creating a simple, general card. I used the bits tag as my focal point for building this card."

"My Mom is super creative. Growing up, my favorite creations to watch her make were dolls. I thought I would try my hand at a doll. The head is a Styrofoam ball, with strips of paper hot-glued to it. The hardest part was figuring out the arms. I rolled paper and trimmed it to look like sleeves (it took four tries to get it right!)."
Here's a little bit about Sarah to get to know her even better:
How did you get started scrapbooking?
I started in 2005, after our daughter was born. I needed a new creative outlet (quilting was too long and involved) and I wanted to be able to preserve some of those everyday moments. I discovered the online scrapping world in 2008 and have been hooked ever since!
What would you say your scrapbooking “style” is?
That's always a tough question to answer. I would describe my style as simple with artsy touches. I love white space and pops of bright color. I tend towards multiphoto layouts.
What is your favorite technique?
Right now I am loving twine, mist, and stitching. I mostly enjoy techniques that add little details and finishing touches.
When do you find time to scrap?
I work full time so I scrap in the evening after the kids go to bed or on the weekends. We gave up TV so that we would have time for other things, so instead of watching TV, I am on the computer at scrappy spots or I am creating.
On average, how long does it take you to complete a project?
It can take me around an hour and a half and sometimes two hours to finish a layout. I don't often finish anything in one sitting as I am often interrupted ;) It also depends on how well I have developed the ideas in my head.
What is your favorite thing about American Crafts?
I love the 3D foam dots and of course, Thickers. I also love the Flair badges!
Stop on by Sarah's blog for a whole bunch of scrappy goodness!

Guest Designer of the Week: Audrey Yeager
Audrey Yeager is the talent behind today's vacation-themed projects!
Supplies: Silver Lake Trails Paper (35346), Appletone Cove Paper (35348), Buffalo Lake Paper (35350), Caribou Creek Paper (35351), Fox Park Forest Paper (35353), Elk Creek Trail Paper (35354), Mountain Gate Park Paper (35355), Sunset Point PAper (35356), Timberline Resort Paper (35357), Evergreen Point Paper (35358), Wolf Creek Paper (35362), Oak Point Paper (35364), Rocky Point Paper (35365) - Campy Trails, Forest Chestnut (53159) - Thickers, Pine Borders (53167) - Thickers, Postcards 4x6 Journaling Cards (64009) - JustWrite, River (78044) - Details, Reinforced Decorative Tags (85534) - Bits
"I have been meaning to make a mini album of our trip from last fall for some time and when I first saw the Campy Trails line, I knew it was perfect! I used an acrylic and chipboard calendar kit with a stand for this album. I painted the edges of the acrylic covers with a mossy green paint and then inked with a brown ink. I really wanted the photo of the brightly colored tree over the water to stand out, so I used it behind the acrylic. The inside pages have a fairly simple format: each open set of pages is covered with patterned paper and I used a contrasting paper for a border on the left side, which I punched. On some of the pages I used a chipboard border instead. In between each set of pages I added a tag where I did my journaling on the back. The tabs on the bottom of each page were covered with some of the barcode patterned paper strips."
Supplies: Vanilla (71041) - Cardstock, Flamenco Paper (35419) - Margarita, Cha-Cha Paper (35428) - Margarita, Mojito Paper (35423) - Margarita, San Juan Paper (35439) - Margarita, Wolf Creek Paper (35362) - Campy Trails
"When I saw the Cha-Cha paper, it reminded me of umbrellas at the beach. I wanted to make them a bit 3-D, so I scored them and folded them to make them pleat and stand off the card a little. I misted the sand and sky with spray inks, and used some toothpicks for the umbrella poles! The beach towels are one of the barcode patterned paper strips."
Supplies: Vanilla (71041) - Cardstock, Elk Creek Trail Paper (35354) - Campy Trails, Silver Lake Trail Paper (35346) - Campy Trails, Pine Borders (53167) - Thickers, Postcards (64009) - JustWrite
"The Campy Trails JustWrite journaling cards have some great phrases on them! I used two of the same JustWrite card and cut out the mountains on the 2nd one and popped them on top of the first card to give it dimension. The chipboard tree border is also popped off a bit. I hand cut the little stars and added some glitter glue here and there for some sparkle."
Supplies: Cozumel Paper (35420), Flamenco Paper (35419), Mambo Paper (35424), Guacamole Paper (35437) - Margarita, Printed Long Variety Tags (85553) - Bits, Retreat (42200) - Remarks, Hammock (89399) - Ribbon
"When I think of the Margarita collection and the Campy Trails collection, I think of vacation! So I decided to make some simple, fun luggage tags that would be durable enough to withstand travel conditions. I started with an 8x8” page protector, folded it in half and creased it. Then I machine stitched on both sides of the crease, along the bottom, and up the side, leaving the top open as a pocket. I then cut the page protector down the crease to create two 4x8” pockets (which I ended up trimming down) to about 4x5” pockets). I simply cut some patterned paper to fit inside the pocket and decorated one side with paper and phrases. I did not add anything bulky because I wanted it to be flat. On the back side of the paper I added a sticker where I can write my contact information. I punched some holes in the page protector and threaded ribbon through to tie it to the bag. Wouldn’t this make a great, simple project to do with kids right before you go on vacation? Or maybe you could customize a tag and give it as a gift to surprise someone with a trip!"
Supplies: Kraft (71464) - Cardstock, Mambo Paper (35424) - Margarita, Havana Paper (35435) - Margarita, Guava Paper (35427) - Margarita, Paradise (62198) - Remarks, Retreat (42200) - Remarks, Hammock (89399) - Ribbon, Macaw White (53186) - Thickers
"We were expecting baby #2 in late July or early August (he was born on July 19th!), so this really limited our travel plans for the summer. We had to find some creative, yet cool things to do to beat the Houston heat! So this page is about our summer 'staycation.' We go to The Little Gym and library weekly and it helps that we have a pool in our backyard to help us stay cool!"
Supplies: Horchata Paper (35432) - Margarita, Cha-Cha Paper (35428) - Margarita, Cedar River Trail Paper (35359) - Campy Trails, Margarita Diamond Brads (85549) - Elements, Printed Long Variety Tags (85553) - Bits, Retreat (42200) - Remarks, Paradise (62198) - Remarks, Cabana (78051) - Details, Pina Colada (72013) - Delights, Iguana Azure (53192) - Thickers
"This photo was taken on the dock of my parent's cottage in central New York. The wood of the deck inspired me to use the woodgrain paper as my background. I wanted to mimic the feel of small drops of water splashing from the waves, so I used bits of white paint on the background. There are also tiny sequins scattered on the page from the Delights. I hand cut out the waves and added a 2nd layer that was popped up on top of the first."
Supplies: White (71081) - Cardstock, Stumpy Meadow Paper (35347) - Campy Trails, Cozumel Paper (35420) - Margarita, Empanada Paper (35429) - Margarita, Flamenco Paper (35419) - Magarita, Pina Colada (72013) - Delights, Campy Trails Large Brads (85124) - Elements, Macaw White (53186) - Thickers
"Every summer we travel back home to central New York to enjoy the Finger Lakes and the St. Lawrence River. I always do a page about our summer trip (which we took very early this year). I printed a few small photos of some highlights of the trip and used them on this page. I wanted to keep the design a bit more simple since the photos were smaller and had a lot of detail. The Macaw Thickers were actually white, but I wanted a bit more color, so I sprayed them with some mist."
Audrey filled out some questions about her scrapbooking background and here are her responses:
How did you get started scrapbooking?
I started scrapbooking in 2005 after I had a fantastic Halloween costume party at my house. I had so many photos that I wanted to make an album to showcase them all. After my trip to the scrapbooking aisle of my local craft store, I was hooked!
What would you say your scrapbooking “style” is?
I think my style tends to be “trendy”. I like to use the latest and greatest products and try new techniques. Although I like to try new things all the time, there are some elements that you can see on almost all my pages: machine or hand stitching, a strong “rule of threes”, and a thin black pen that I use for outlining photos and handwriting my journaling. I tend to scrap by manufacturer, using coordinating lines.
When do you find time to scrap?
I “think” about scrapping every day! I actually get to spend a little bit of time each night scrapping after the little one goes to bed. I am a complete night owl and am up most nights until 1 or 2 am! I try to keep a notebook with all kinds of lists and ideas which helps me get things done when I need to.
On average, how long does it take you to complete a project?
I would say that my average layout takes me about 2-3 hours. That includes editing and printing my photos, which I do at home.
What is your favorite thing about American Crafts?
My favorite thing about American Crafts is the diversity of products there are to use… chipboard, stickers, papers, Details… not to mention things like punches, cardstock, and adhesives! But I am a paper hoarder, and the first thing I look at are all the different patterns. Each AC line has so many different pattern, and it’s not hard to find a whole bunch that I love!
Audrey always has tons of fabulous projects on her blog so make sure to stop by for a visit!

Who wants to learn how to make this super cute mini travel journal? Well you're in luck because Cindy Tobey has created a step-by-step photo tutorial to show you how!
Supplies: 12x12 Cardstock Vanilla (71041) - AC Cardstock, 12x12 Cardstock Apricot (71031) - AC Cardstock, 12x12 Cardstock Rocky Road (71466) - AC Cardstock, 12x12 Cardstock Dandelion (71037) - AC Cardstock, Powder Point Camp Paper (35368) - Campy Trails, Appleton Cove Paper (35348) - Campy Trails, Campy Trails Journaling Cards (64009) - JustWrite, Squirrel (77250) - Patchems, Campy Trails Decorative Tags (85534) - Bits, Hot Dog (89397) - Ribbon, Campy Trails Assorted Brads (85535) - Elements, Campy Trails Buttons (85536) - Elements
"It always takes me quite a while to scrapbook my photos after a vacation and sometimes when I finally do scrapbook them I've forgotten many of the details. The solution is of course to write down those details while on vacation. Rather than just bring a notebook along I thought it would be fun to create a little album of journaling cards. I can write my thoughts on them during my trip and when it comes time to scrapbook my vacation the journaling is not only done, but already on journaling cards that I can put right on my layouts! Another plus is that this little book is reusable. Once I remove the journaling cards for my layouts I can refill the book so it’s ready for my next trip! Here's how you can make your own journaling book:"
1) Trim four sheets of earth-toned cardstock to 6 x 12", stack them together and fold them in half, open the papers then stitch or staple them together down the center. Trim the pages to 6 x 4 1/4".
2) Trim a piece of wool felt, leather, or upholstery fabric (something that will be sturdy) to 6 1/4 x 11 1/4". Trace a shaped journaling card along the edge of the felt and trim.
3) Machine or hand-stitch – to add detail to your cover – 1/4 inch from the edge, all the way around the felt. Cut a button hole and add a button to the felt. Secure the pages to the cover by tying with twine as shown.
4) Add journaling cards with removable adhesive (so they are easy to remove later) to the pages. Add some small tags with twine and staples for smaller amounts of journaling.
5) Add some mini paper bags and pockets for ephemera collected on your vacation. I created some library style pockets with cardstock. You can easily make these in any size you want. For mini paper bags, if you don't have any premade ones, you could make your own from larger paper bags.
6) Decorate the cover as desired, I chose ribbons and a cute Patchem.
That's it! Your little journaling book is ready to take on your next getaway!

To wrap up Round Week, Jennifer Gallacher and Jenny Chesnick have each created a layout and card that will dazzle you! Supplies: Charcoal (71077) - Cardstock, White (71081) - Cardstock, Kraft (71464) - Cardstock, Banana (71502) - Cardstock, Big Pine Creek Paper (35369) – Campy Trails, You’re a Peach Paper (35381) – Peachy Keen, Jitter Paper (35373) – Peachy Keen, Peachy KeenCorduroy Brads (85538) – Elements, Twist (72008) – Delights, Gee Golly (42192) – Remarks, Audrey (42191) – Remarks, Grosgrain (58462) - Ribbon
Jennifer shares, "I like creating 8 ½ x 11” layouts so to fit inside my scrapbooks I created a circular layout that is about 8” wide. To create the scalloped edge around the layout, I punched out enough 1 3/8” circles to cover the back of the paper. This is a quick and easy way to create scalloped circles. For the card I die cut two pinked circles. I folded the top of one of them about ¼” from the top and then attached the other pinked circle to this folded edge. This creates a front and back of the card. I added the 'Oh So Dandy' sticker with adhesive foam squares so that it would stick out just a little."
Supplies: Santo Domingo Paper (35430) - Margarita, Pico De Gallo Paper (35426) - Margarita, Salsa Paper (35421) - Margarita, Mojito Paper (35426) - Margarita, Cabana (78051) - Details, Daylight (78048) - Details, Refreshing (42199) - Remarks, Sapphire (74074) - Cardstock, White (71081) - Cardstock, Brown .05 (62326) - Precision Pen; Other supplies: Silhouette SD
Jenny confesses, "When I scrapbook, I rarely ever use a circle believe it or not! So I tried to come up with a more clever way to do so. Using my Silhouette I cut out rectangle shapes to create a sort of sun spray of color for my layout. For the card I created a beach ball! I decided to go with non-traditional colors because that just makes it much more fun. Margarita is so bright and bold I just love how the colors blend together to make some fabulous projects!"
Thanks for stopping by and leaving your lovely comments! Have a great weekend and see you back here again for a fresh new week of fun on Monday!

"Give" Embroidery Hoop Tutorial by Amy Tan
Amy Tan (of the new American Crafts + Amy Tangerine line!) is here today to show you how to create this cute "GIVE" embroidery hoop with a step-by-step photo turorial!
American Craft Supplies: Live & Love (77257) - Patchems, Dot Glue Runner (61713) - This to That, Audrey Font (42192) - Remarks
Lately the trend towards framing with embroidery hoops has been all over design blogs. Here's a simple way to create something in under 10 minutes that you can display on the wall.
1) Gather your materials. I used muslin, which is a very versatile (and inexpensive) fabric that can easily be altered
2) Cut a piece of the fabric that is at least 2 inches bigger than the hoop.
3) Put paper towels or a mat underneath your fabric and begin inking the middle area.
4) Once you get the coverage you desire, let it dry in the sunshine or by using a blow dryer.
5) Once dry, adhere your Patchem to the center of the inked space.
6) Then add your letter stickers.
7) Secure the fabric in to the hoop centering around the embellished area.
8) Turn the hoop over and trim the excess fabric.
9) All done and ready for hanging to cuten up your scrap space or give to a friend!
The perfect gift created in under 10 minutes - now there's a project I can jump on board with!

This week we're thinking outside the square box and opting instead for a round-scheme!
All of the layouts, projects, and cards you'll see here on the blog this week will feature circles - it's a fun twist and you're sure to be inspired! Starting off this week Becky Williams and Jen Jockisch have each created a round layout and card:
Supplies: Mountain Park Paper (35231) - City Park, Many Splendored Paper (35180) - Love, Can't Help Falling Paper (35177) - Love, Take A Chance Paper (35182) - Love, Glee Paper (35402) - Hello Sunshine, Sparkle Paper (35410) - Hello Sunshine, Cool Cat Paper (35389) - Peachy Keen, Irresistible (42166) - Remarks, Gazeebo (42176) - Remarks, Endless (42164) - Remarks, Hello Sunshine Decorative Tags (85547) - Bits, Caramel Twine (58510) - Ribbon, True (43381) - Mini Marks, Dot Adhesive Runner (61213) - This to That, Shout (72009) - Delights, Fantastic Limeade (53109)- Thickers, Sweet Bermuda (53090) - Thickers, Hardcover Brown Sugar (53137) - Thickers, Marquise Black (53139)- Thickers, Black .01 Precision Pen (62301) - Pens and Markers
Becky says, "In the past I'd heard nothing but good things about Nutella, the yummy hazelnut chocolate spread, but hadn't tried it yet. Once I tasted it though I was hooked and it became an almost-daily obsession. I couldn't help but scrapbook about this fun little detail in my life. To create the base of this layout I simply used a die cut scalloped circle for my template, cut it out, and then added some white doodling around the edge."
Supplies: 12x12 Cardstock White - (71081) - AC Cardstock, 12x12 Cardstock Peony (71015) - AC Cardstock, Fancy Free Paper (35377) - Peachy Keen, Spree Paper (35400) - Hello Sunshine, Forest Chestnut (53159) - Thickers, Fantastic Limeade (53109) - Thickers, Sparkling Silver (53102) - Thickers, Reinforced Decorative Tags (85511) - Bits, 1” Sheer with Scalloped Satin Edge (58232) - Ribbon, Shamrock Memory Marker (6118) - AC Pens and Markers, Diamond Brads (85549) - Elements, Ethereal (42179) - Remarks
Jen fills us in, "My assignment this month was to create a round card and a round layout. I made this card for a bridal shower my daughter was attending for her preschool teacher. We added the tag and then just tied it to the handles of a gift bag, it looked really cute! The layout was a little bit trickier. I knew I wanted a scalloped edge, but I didn't have any pre made scalloped circle bases, so I cut a piece of cardstock using a bowl as a template, and then punched a bunch of 1 inch circles, cut them in half, and adhered them to the back to create my own scalloped edge."

Suzy Plantamura and Poki Nobeno each have a layout with 5+ photos today:
Supplies: Splendor Paper (35401) - Hello Sunshine, Delicate Paper (35413) - Hello Sunshine, Jitter Paper (35373) - Peachy Keen, Serenade Strawberry (53151) - Thickers, Daylight (78048) - Details, Love Mini Pearl Brads (85508) - Elements, Damsel (43387) - Minimarks
Suzy shares, "I love putting a lot of photos on my layouts so I usually make all my layouts two pages so I can really cover an event. I wanted to make a one page layout of these photos I just took of Sophie because I thought it would be fun to hang in a frame in her room. I sized my favorite photo to be 5x7 and the other four to be wallet sized (2.5 x 3.8). This allowed me to get five photos on the one page layout, so I was very happy! I cut several circles out of yellow paper and arranged them to frame the photos, tucking some underneath them. I kept the embellishments simple so the focus stayed on the photos. The Splendor paper was just perfect for the background of this layout because the pattern is similar to the pattern on the garage door!"
Supplies: Dandy Paper (35397) - Hello Sunshine, Frolic Paper (35403) - Hello Sunshine, Glow Paper (35408) - Hello Sunshine, Zippy Paper (35411) - Hello Sunshine, Dreamy Paper (35385) - Peachy Keen, Easy As Pie Paper (35393) - Peachy Keen, Good Golly (70068) - Flair, Slide (72004) - Delights, Love Buttons (85509) - Elements, Just Dandy (82304) - Mementos, Hello Sunshine Pearl Brads (85545) - Elements, Hello Sunshine Metal Rimmed Tags (85546) - Bits, Sunbeam (72011) - Delights, Macaw White (53186) - Thickers, Kraft (71464) - Cardstock
Poki says, "I made this to use a lot of photos in one layout. I cut all pieces of paper and photos into 3 inch squares and pasted them on 12 inch layout. To keep a neat figure, I pasted various expressions of my son's photos regularly. I recommend all of you to make this kind of layout because the process of it is very simple. Just decide the size to cut out the paper and the photos. Embellishments of American Crafts are so great,if you use them, trust me, your layout will be great looking!"
A couple more final 5+ photos layouts are in the works for tomorrow - plus the winner of their favorite new line will be announced!

By using a variety of different sized photos, I was able to use five of my photos on one 12x12 layout. For my title, I cut out an image from the Just Write Journaling cards. Although it was intended for journaling, I used it as a title."

This week our talented design team is going to show you how to fit at least five pictures on a layout! Afterall, scrapbooking is about preserving memories, so why not try to fit as many photos of the event you're showcasing as possible?! First up: Céline Navarro and Cindy Tobey share their layouts with 5+ photos:
Supplies: White (71081) - Cardstock, Salsa Paper (35421) - Margarita, Mariachi Paper (35440) - Margarita,
Sunrise Borders (53185) - Thickers, Paradise (42197) - Remarks, Refreshing (42199) - Remarks, Decorative Tags (85553) - Bits, Powder Subway (42920) - Thickers
In Cindy's words, “While it's fun to create a one photo layout, I really am more of a multi-photo scrapper. I love using several photos to tell my story. For this page I selected five successive shots showing my son running and jumping into our kiddy pool. I used patterned papers from the Margarita collection to create my hand-cut layered wave. After adding the wave to my page I simply tucked my photos behind the various layers.”
Stay tuned for our weekly giveaway plus even more ways to show off 5+ photos tomorrow!8/1/2011 3:00:00 PM | Comments (0) | Send a Message (PeaMail) | Vote for this Blog Post
