Candy Box by Melissa Mann

Supplies: Wishful Day Paper (35610) - Daydreams, Pleasant Day Paper(35609) Daydreams, Chestnut (58409) - Premium Ribbon, Chipper (78061) - Details, Printed Variety Tags (77263) - Bits, Friends (42228) - Remarks; Other: Gift box, candy, baker's twine

Step 1: Assemble your candy box.

Step 2: Cut patterned paper to fit the sides and top of your box. I cut mine to 3" square.

Step 3: Adhere the paper to the sides of the box.

Step 4: Adhere a different patterned paper to the top and underside of the top of the box.

Step 5: Cut a piece of ribbon and adhere it to the bottom of the box.

Step 6: Cut 3" pieces of paper from the tearaway strip at the bottom of a patterned paper block and adhere them to the top rim of the box.

Step 7: Cut three strips of paper measured at 1.5 x 6" and fold them accordion style.

Step 8: Adhere each end of the folded piece to each other and create a circle.

Step 9: Punch out a piece of scrap cardstock and press the folded piece of paper down to create a circle then glue it in place.

Step 10: Gather a few embellishments. I picked out some Details, a piece of baker's twine, and a Bits tag.

Step 11: Thread your baker's twine through the tag then put a dot of glue down on the top of the box and stick the ends of the twine in it. Place your folded paper embellishment on top of this and adhere it with a strong adhesive.

Step 12: Punch out a circle of patterned paper and pick out a Detail. Glue down the circle on top of the folded paper embellishment and then adhere the Detail on top of that.

Step 13: Open the box up and fill it with candy.

All finished!

I started by cutting out four patterns of the clock itself. Two patterned papers and two cardstock. I then rough cut two sheets of chipboard to line between my patterned paper and cardstock. This just helps the clock be a bit sturdier.

Next I sandwiched the chipboard between one piece of cardstock and one piece of patterned paper. Then put the cardstock toward the back of the clock so the pretty patterned paper shines bright.

Next I cut a strip of two pieces of chipboard at 12x2, scored and folded in at 1”, 7” and trimmed off the excess to create one side. The other side I left the ends a bit longer at 3”, so cut and score at 3”, 9”. You should end up with 6” on the long side and 3” on the short side.

Using my hot glue gun I attached the end of the short side and covered the chipboard with paper.

Next I trimmed down a piece of cardstock into approximately 4x2 and 2x2 strips and folded them half. I attached them to either side of the center of the clock. (As shown) this is going to give you something for your clock to attach to. I repeated this on both sides.

Using my hot glue gun again I attached the cardstock flaps to the base of the clock and repeated again on the top piece. This creates your 3D clock.

Once your clock is built it’s time for the fun part of dressing it up of course! The pattern I used came with some fun items for the front of my clock. I used these parts along with the awesome embellishments from Garden Café to finish up my project!

One of my favorite parts of the clock is the “hands” I took inspiration from the stick set and cut my own knife and spoon to use as the hands. I used lots of this to that dots on the clock to keep it very dimensional and interesting.

Maggie says, "It was fun creating projects with a 'mini' theme this month! I found that the layout and card came together so quickly because there was less space to work with! It is also a fun way to display a single photo that is smaller in size!

I cut one flower out of the Dear Lizzy die cut paper and I love how intricate and detailed it looks! The sticker became the perfect title for my page and gave me a great jumping off point for my journaling, that I wrote around the edges of the page to finish it off.

Next up is my card and again I love how quickly it came together. I took the button off of the pinwheel embellishment and added the sticker to the center of it. Then I punched some small butterflies and added some bling with the tiny rhinestones. 

I’m thinking that I will keep doing some of these “mini” pages from now on and mix them right into my regular albums in between the larger 12x12 pages. It’s a fun way to change it up!!

Melanie shares, "My son recently went to his first weeklong Cub Scout camp and I wanted to make him a little souvenir about his experiences - he had an amazing time! He has a small shelf above his bunk bed where he keeps his ‘treasures’ so a mini album was a good solution for that small space. To make the album, I cut recycled chipboard into 3x3” squares, stamped the front and back cover with the woodgrain stamp, and then embossed it with Chestnut Zing! to give it a rustic feel. I cropped and printed out my photos to the same 3x3” size, added the paper and embellishments (which could not have been more perfect for the theme!) and then just punched a hole through the corners. This little album was a blast to make and my son adores it."
