Introducing Shoreline, the newest collection from AC

Shoreline_Digital_SampleIt feels like we just released our Winter lines, and here we are with a mid-release! Whether the buds are blooming on the fruit trees or there's a blizzard outside, our newest line will warm you up in a jiffy.

Shoreline is a retro beach party that invites you to put on your sandals and grab your sunglasses. This iconic summertime collection comes alive with sea birds, sail boats, bicycles and surfboards in a palette infused with bold blues, pinks, yellows and oranges.

Shoreline features 24 double-sided patterned papers doused in color and the occasional light-leak effect — that dreamy look in vintage photos created when a poorly made camera case inadvertently lets light in, slightly overexposing the film. (See the layout above for an example).

Adding to the fun are dimensional stickers, printed die-cuts and a variety of alphas — from glitter foam and printed chipboard Thickers, to tiny Remark stickers, to a unique stamp set.

Here are the papers — aren't they gorgeous?

And now, the embellishments. (The first is all the pages of Shoreline's Remarks Sticker Book spreadout.)

So what do you think? Leave a comment telling us what you love about Shoreline by Sunday at midnight (MST) and we'll announce the randomly selected winner on Monday!

Sketch Week Guest Designer: Patricia Roebuck

Guest Designer
I'm excited to introduce our Guest Designer for Sketch Week - Patricia Roebuck!

IMG_4224web2
Short bio: I am a 40 something, living in Mandeville, LA, just 35 miles north of New Orleans. So instead of a Southern accent, I have a touch of a New Orleans accent. July of 2009 we became a Chinese adoptive family after over three years of waiting for our daughter. I love my family of three, and my cat named Archie.

How did you get started scrapbooking? My first scrapbook was from a trip to Japan in 1998. Walmart was the only place I could find supplies. But with the adoption of our daughter coming soon, I started to learn about scrapbooking in 2006 and soon discovered there was no limit to what supplies were needed to scrapbook. I love it as a creative outlet as well as documenting life.

What is your favorite American Crafts product? I love the variety of products offered by AC. The papers are double-sided with lots of great designs; cannot have enough Thickers, This to That Foam adhesive, and cardstock; the colors of the embossing powders are so fun and add a little extra pop to your pages; and American Crafts is the only album I use to store my scrapbook and Project Life pages!

Sketch for Summer is Sweeterjpg
Summer is Way More Sweeter with a New Swimsuit LOjpg
SUMMER IS WAY MORE SWEETER WITH A NEW SWIMSUIT by Patricia Roebuck

I love the colors of Neapolitan, Sketchbook, and Gardenia. I wanted to pull out the vibrant, juicy colors for this summer-themed layout by cutting out the patterned paper to use as part of the design. I kept the background paper simple, while adding pops of the patterned paper and color so the layout would flow. With so much color and layers, I added a strip of the brown Ivy Terrace Gardenia paper near the photos. I wanted to continue the fun, summery feel of the layout, so I cut the Ballerina Tile Letters into banners, attached them to another piece of paper, added a border from a strip of Vine Nursery Gardenia Paper, and attached it using the clothespin.

Supplies: Silly Skedaddle Paper (35628) - Neapolitan, Stitched Ruffle Paper Sun Kissed (35647) - Neapolitan, Sparkling Smile Vellum (35627) - Neapolitan, Pretty Please Paper (35637) - Neapolitan, Simple Romance Paper (35645) - Neapolitan, Cheerful Notes Paper (35626) - Neapolitan, First Date Paper (35632) - Neapolitan, Vine Nursery Paper (35621) - Gardenia, Greenery Atrium Paper (35618) - Gardenia, Charlotte’s Shade Paper (35684) - Sketchbook, Saffron Study Paper (35693) - Sketchbook, Harper’s Hue Paper (35687) - Sketchbook, Cobalt Composition Paper (35679) - Sketchbook, Ivy Terrace Paper (35623) - Gardenia, Rubons (43395) - Minimarks, Ballerina (42233) - Dear Lizzy Tile Letter, Screenprinted clothespins (86200) - Whittles, Solid Glue Runner (61711) - This to That, Foam Dots (61709) - This to That, Precision Pen 01 (62301) - Black

I really love the designs on the Sketchbook papers. They inspired me to create this simple, quick card by cutting out the frames from Paige’s Portraits paper, creating a graphic, linear, and artsy looking card. Keeping the frames as the focal point, I cut out one of the flowers from the India Ink paper to add to the largest frame. Next, I cut out different pieces of patterned paper. A simple and inexpensive way to add pops of color and texture.

Supplies: Paige’s Portraits Paper (35691) - Sketchbook, Sydney’s Snapshot Paper (35688) - Sketchbook, Magenta Musings Paper (35692) - Sketchbook, Gaby’s Gallery Paper (35681) - Sketchbook, India Ink Paper (35685) - Sketchbook, Gwyneth’s Graph Paper (35694) - Sketchbook, Sweet Sundress Paper (35634) - Neapolitan, Accent & Phrases (42232) – Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Remarks Books, Fern (53274) - Thickers, Solid Glue Runner (61711) - This to That, Foam Dots (61709) - This to That

Sketch for Tag You're Itjpg
Tag You're It LOjpg
TAG YOU'RE IT by Patricia Roebuck

The soft, but warm, rich care-free colors of the Neapolitan papers, vellum, and stickers were perfect and so easy to layer and create a cluster for my main photo to go along with the fun, care-free pictures of my daughter and her best friend playing. For some extra pop of color, I added the Cardstock Shapes from Bits. For added dimension, I cut out the stamped Neapolitan stamp from cardstock and layered under a sticker using This to That Foam Circles. I really loved the variety of the Thickers and tile letters together for a title to help connect and tell the story behind all of the photos.

Supplies: Delightful Bouquet Paper (35644) - Neapolitan, Sweet Sundress Paper (35634) - Neapolitan, Lovely Afternoon Paper (35638) - Neapolitan, Warm Memories Paper (35633) - Neapolitan, Sea Breeze Paper (35643) - Neapolitan, Sunny Skip Paper (35636) - Neapolitan, Carmine Collage Paper (35689) - Sketchbook, Die Cut Cardstock Shapes (77264) - Bits, Fabric & Epoxy Brads (78074) - Elements, Accent & Phrases (42232) – Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Remarks Books, Splendid Black (53296) - Thickers, Jar Acrylic Stamps (59157) - Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Stamps, Serendipity (53293) - Thickers, Ballerina (42233) - Dear Lizzy Tile Letters, Stamp Marker (62618) - Grapefruit, Precision Pen 01 (62301) - Black, Foam Dots (61709) - This to That, Solid Glue Runner (61711) - This to That

Sketch for So Sweet on You Cardjpg

So Sweet On You Cardjpg
SO SWEET ON YOU by Patricia Roebuck

The Gardenia paper flower helped to create the sentiment for this card. I used the softer colors from the Neapolitan papers and used the darker kraft paper seal to bring the focus to the cut out jar. By cutting out a butterfly and banner from Gardenia papers, they created the triangle design principle. So your eye goes around from the butterfly, orange hearts and/or flower, and banner. I used the Splendid Black Thickers, to emphasize “you” and to balance and ground the cluster.

Supplies: Sweet Sundress Paper (35634) - Neapolitan, Silly Skeddadle Paper (35628) - Neapolitan, Sea Breeze Paper (35643) - Neapolitan, Carmine Collage Paper (35689) - Sketchbook, Fresh Blooms Paper (35630) - Neapolitan, Cheerful Notes Paper (35626) - Neapolitan, Annual Terrace Paper (35617) - Gardenia, Cheerful Notes Paper (35626) - Neapolitan, Fabric & Epoxy Brads (78074) - Elements, Splendid Black (53296) - Thickers, Serendipity (53293) - Thickers, Sage (72026) - Delights, Solid Glue Runner (61711) - This to That, Precision Pen 01 (62301) - Black, Stamp Marker (62618) - Grapefruit

PURE JOY by Patricia Roebuck

The design came easy since my daughter was popping bubbles. I worked with the beautiful design and simplicity of the Crimson Charm Sketchbook paper by accenting it further with cut out pieces of more Sketchbook papers at the top, bottom, and corner. After cropping the photos into circles, I used the different sizes as a guide to cut out the Silver Lining Vellum for a soft, subtle look. I added more pops of color by stitching around the vellum circles, punching out more circles and flowers from Sketchbook papers, then added Neapolitan brads and Gardenia paper flowers to create more layers and help the design flow.

Supplies: Crimson Charm Paper (35674) - Sketchbook, Sadie’s Story Paper (35695) - Sketchbook, Carmine Collage Paper (35689) - Sketchbook, Harper’s Hue Paper (35687) - Sketchbook, Sienna Spirit Paper (35672) - Sketchbook, Sydney’s Snapshot Paper (35688) - Sketchbook, Silver Lining Vellum (35635) - Neapolitan, Fabric & Epoxy Brads (78074) - Dear Lizzy, Sage (72026) - Delights, Accent & Phrases (42232) – Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Remarks Books, Fern (53274) - Thickers, Solid Glue Runner (61711) - This to That, Precision Pen 01 (62301) - Black

Sketch & Layout by Leah Farquharson

Leah Farquharson comes up with some amazing sketches and today is no exception!

Leah

Leahf_AC_sketch

DRESSING ROOM CONFESSIONS by Leah Farquharson

If I see a layout that someone else has done, I first sit down, and sketch out the idea - I find that I'll automatically make certain small changes that suit my taste and style {and essentially make the design more "my own"}. After sketching out the idea, I set to work creating the project or layout. Nine times out of ten, my layout ends up looking nothing like the original that inspired it. Little bits and pieces may remind me of the original layout, but I don't in any way feel that I've "copied" that person's work. I've simply used it as a starting point, for inspiration! I just had to scrapbook several photos I took this past weekend while out shopping. My husband had a few days off and I decided to take the time to update my wardrobe. It reminded me of something that I already knew - I hate the process of shopping. The choosing of pieces to make outfits, and the trying on of all the clothing. If fits, it doesn't fit, I try five different sizes. It costs HOW much? I tied to find some humor along the way... These are a few outtakes of shots from that experience (and YES. My sister is my best shopping buddy from 1500 miles away. I text her photos from the dressing room and she gives me a thumbs up or down!)

Supplies: 12x12 cardstock White (71081) - AC Cardstock, Heart Song Paper (35631) - Neapolitan, Lovely Afternoon Vellum Paper (35638) - Neapolitan, Parakeet Serendipity (53293) - Thickers, Wood Buttons (85578) - Elements, Wood Buttons and Epoxy Accents (78073) - Embellishments, Printed Variety Tags (78069) - Bits, Printed Chipboard Shapes (78070) - House, Neapolitan Accents and Phrases Stickers (42232) - Remarks Books, Borders Accents & Phrases (42235) - Remarks, Parakeet Letter Stickers (42234) - Remarks, Jar (59157) - Clear Stamps, Rub On Transfers (43395) - Minimarks, Dates Phrases & Icons (59160) - Roller Date Stamp, Mini Fair Ribbons (78066) - Ribbon, Ephemera Flowers (78065) - Embellishments, Happy Chance Pennant (35648) - Flutterbys, Designer Ribbon (58805) - Premium Ribbon, Taffy Ink (59522) - Pigment Ink, Chestnut Ink (59512) - Pigment Ink, Brown Sugar Ink (59511) - Pigment Ink, Grapefruit Ink (59518) - Pigment Ink, Cherry Ink (59529) - Pigment Ink

Favorite Quote Layout and Card by Suzy Plantamura

Finishing up Favorite Quotes week is Suzy Plantamura with her amazing doodles:

Suzy

Quote card small
QUOTE CARD by Suzy Plantamura

I found this quote on pinterest and I’m not sure who the author is. I thought it was perfect for a birthday card. I cut doodled borders out of the 6x6 paper pad to use around my quote and used one of the watercolored two sided papers to make the card. The inside is a bright pink – perfect for the cheerful birthday wish!

Supplies: Sienna Spirit Paper (35672) - Sketchbook, Pigment (42241) - Remarks, 6x6 Paper Pad (35696) - Sketchbook

Love, True Love small
LOVE, TRUE LOVE! by Suzy Plantamura

I thought this quote was really funny because my husband puts up with all MY weirdness (he isn’t so weird himself though). I love how the watercolor effects of the background paper are perfect for my quote. I cut the flowers out of another piece of patterned paper and layered borders from papers with fabric stickers to create an easel for my photos. I cut additional “doodles” from another paper to keep the layout looking very whimsical since the quote is by Dr. Seuss!

Love, true love close up small
Supplies: Kristi’s Craft Paper (35682) - Sketchbook, Sadie’s Story Paper (35695) - Sketchbook, Cobalt Composition Paper (35679) - Sketchbook, Addi’s Adoration (35690) - Sketchbook, Ivory Impression Paper (35677) - Sketchbook, Flat-Top Fabric Brads (85578) - Elements, Printed Cardstock Shapes (77290) - Bits, Layered Tags (77289) - Bits, Doodle (42243) - Remarks, Pigment (42241) - Remarks, Paint (42242) - Remarks

Have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by and we'll see you all again on Monday with a brand new week of inspiration!

Amy Tangerine Sketchbook - CHA Winter Video

Just for fun, we asked scrapbookers and retailers who stopped by our CHA Winter booth in January to decorate one page from a flipbook featuring elements from the Amy Tangerine Sketchbook collection. We photographed and stitched all the photos together to make this cool animation bursting with inspiration ...

What do you think? If you were at CHA, did you see the one you made? Here are a few still shots from crafty bloggers who's names might be familiar:

Fresh Squeezed Guest Designer: Jennie McGarvey

Guest Designer of the Week2

Our Fresh Squeezed Guest Designer is Jennie McGarvey!

6a0162ff74c7b7970d01676069de49970b-150wi

Short bio: My name is Jennie McGarvey and I am a stay at home of 3 boys (10.5, 9 and 4). I've been married to my fantastic husband, Andy, for 11.5 years and we recently moved from Southern California to Southern Indiana. Since 1998 we've lived in 6 states and we are NOT a military family.

How did you get started scrapbooking? My aunt showed me a couple of pages she had made and supplies she had and I was HOOKED. I started for myself about 11 years ago with my wedding album and I've never looked back. (My aunt, on the other hand, quit scrapping shortly after!)

What is your favorite American Crafts product? I have a large arsenal of American Crafts supplies that I couldn't scrap without, much like everyone else. But, my most favorite must be my Limo Black Memory Markers. I've tried every other journaling pen out there and I like these the best. I have a healthy stash and stock up any time I see them!

Fresh Squeezed Mini Album Tutorial by Jamie Harper

Jamie Harper is going to show you how to turn a clear acrylic album into a beautiful creation using the Fresh Squeezed line!

IMG_3789

Jamie

Supplies: Strawberry Spread Paper (35667) - Fresh Squeezed, Orange Marmalade (35663) - Fresh Squeezed, Rasperry Jam Paper (35661) - Fresh Squeezed, Plum Schmear Paper (35665) - Fresh Squeezed, Basket (42237) - Remarks Stickers, Cupboard Raspberry (53311) - Thickers, Bushel (42238) - Remarks Dimensional Stickers

Gather your supplies first!

IMG_3772

Start with the first page. Create so that there is some empty space for the layers to show through the page. Start with a bottom base. The patterned paper is on the front of the page and the turquoise paper is on the back. Next add a photo to the front page and add your Thickers under the photo. To finish the first page, add an embellishment.

IMG_3782

The second page is pretty easy, you just want to be sure that you cover any adhesive. So add another photo the same size to cover the backside of the photo on the front. Add a sticker and journaling.

IMG_3783

For the third page, again, a photo in the bottom right corner (use the front page as your guide for placement of the photo) then add a strip of paper to the top of the album and a sticker to the left side. On the back side add a circle behind the sticker. On the back side add a strip of patterned paper to the bottom.

IMG_3784

On the fourth page add a sticker to the center of the circle and add a photo to match the backside of the photo.

IMG_3785

Thanks for stopping by and learning more about creating with clear mini albums!
