These three cards made by Cindy Tobey featuring hand-made stitching are sure to bring a smile to your face!
I cut a large pinked edge on my “Hello Friend” card and followed the edge shape with colors of embroidery floss picked up from the circle tag to create a fun chevron stripe effect. I also lined the inside of my card with patterned paper since a bit of it shows even when the card is closed.
Supplies: 12x12 Cardstock Charcoal (71077) – AC Cardstock, Sienna Spirit Paper (35672) – Sketchbook, Die Cut Cardstock Shapes (77290) – Bits, Fabric Brads (85578) – Elements, Value Pack Ribbon (58817) – Premium Ribbon, Journal White (53338) – Thickers, Dot Glue Runner (61721) – This to That
I love that some of the Sketchbook papers feature outline drawings – just waiting to be filled in with paint, or thread and in this case, both. I filled one of the flowers in with a little paint and a lot of embroidery floss.
Supplies: 12x12 Cardstock Lemon (71039) – AC Cardstock, Sienna Spirit Paper (35672) – Sketchbook, Leaf Ribbon (58272) – Premium Ribbon, Fabric Brads (85578) – Elements, Value Pack Ribbon (58817) – Premium Ribbon, Journal Grass (53339) – Thickers, 6x6 Paper Pad (35696) – Sketchbook, Layered Tags (77289) – Bits, Dot Glue Runner (61721) – This to That
I sketched the word “smile” onto the patterned paper and then stitched over the top for my card’s greeting. I also filled in one of the cameras with embroidery floss. Filling in an area on paper with floss can be tricky since the stitches need to be fairly close together. I usually adhere a piece of thin, gauzy fabric to the back of the area I’ll be stitching over which helps hold stitches in place even if two of the holes I pierce through the paper tear and turn into one hole.
Supplies: 12x12 Cardstock Tangerine (71034) – AC Cardstock, Indigo Inspiration Paper (35686) – Sketchbook, Paige’s Portraits Paper (35691) – Sketchbook, Sydney’s Snapshots Paper (35688) – Sketchbook, Mini Brads Cricket (84884) – Elements, Pigment Fabric Stickers (42241) – Remarks, Palette Sticker Book (42240) – Remarks, Dot Glue Runner (61721) – This to That

Stitching Guest Designer: Laura Craigie
Laura Craigie is the Stitching Week Guest Designer and I just know you're going to love how she incorporated stitching on all her projects! But first, let's get to know her a little bit more...
Short bio: I am a stay at home mom to my three wonderful, crazy boys, Isaiah 7, Griffin 5, and Everett 18 months. I've been happily married to my husband Andrew for 8 years, and we live on a beautiful island in B.C. Canada. I've always lived on an island and couldn't imagine not having the ocean near by, it's my favorite place to be. When I'm not chasing my boys or paper crafting I can be found gardening or reading on our deck; I'm very much a homebody.
How did you get started scrapbooking? Like I think a large majority of us, it was with the pregnancy of my first son and I just knew I needed a way to document his life. I did however make scrapbook years and years before that in high school, and one while dating my husband, so I guess I've been doing it a lot longer than that, just not so "seriously" ;)
What is your favorite American Crafts product? Easy! Patterned paper. I'd be lost without patterned paper, and American Crafts just makes the best :)
EVERETT ATLEY by Laura Craigie
I put my sewing machine to good use on this layout and my favorite part was using blue thread around the journaling square to create a visual triangle of blue with the two other blue accents on the layout. I also love sewing elements on a page like the tab in the upper corner.
Supplies: Palette Accents & Phrases (42240) - Remarks, Pigment (42241) - Remarks, Journal Grass (53339) - Thickers, Serendipity White (53291) - Thickers, Viridian Vignette Paper (35676) - Sketchbook, Ivory Impression Paper (35677) - Sketchbook, Rose's Rendering Paper (35683) - Sketchbook, Sydney's Snapshot Paper (35688) - Sketchbook, Adhesive Dispenser Dots (AM617-13) - This to That
I love to sew through my Thickers - I use a blue jean needle on my machine and it goes through like butter. Adding pink thread to my machine gave the white thickers a fun pop of color and really assures they aren't going anywhere when I put the card into the mail.
Supplies: Muse Whitewash (53344) - Thickers, Neapolitan Accents & Phrases (42232) - Remarks, Neapolitan Ribbon (58805) - Premium Ribbon, Lucky Laugh Paper (35640) - Neapolitan, Simple Romance Paper (35645) - Neapolitan, Adhesive Dispenser Dots (AM617-13) -This to That
WONDERFUL CARD by Laura Craigie
I love all the jewel tones in this card and the blue stitched wonky circles really make the window aspect of the card stand out.
Supplies: Doodle (42243) - Remarks, Pigment (42241) - Remarks, Palette (42240) - Remarks, Veridian Vignette Paper (35676) - Sketchbook, Gwyneth's Graph Paper (35694) - Sketchbook, Sadie's Story Paper (35695) - Sketchbook, Dimensional Dots (61710) - This to That, Adhesive Dispenser Dots (AM617-13) - This to That
One of my favorite ways to use stitching is to sew around the perimeter of an element like my hand cut banner tail. It just makes it pop off the page that much more.
Supplies: Neapolitan Accents & Phrases (42232) - Remarks, Splendid Black (53294) - Thickers, Wood Buttons & Epoxy Stickers (78073) - Elements, Heart Song Paper (35631) - Neapolitan, Paige's Portraits Paper (35691) - Sketchbook, Draft (59161) - Acrylic Stamps, Palette (42240) - Remarks, Adhesive Dispenser Dots (AM617-13) - This to That, Charcoal (59STPAD-501) - Stamp Pad

Stitched Summer Banner Tutorial by Amy Heller
Amy Heller is here to show us how to create this adorable stitched summer banner from start to finish!
Supplies: Shoreline (35742) - 6x6" Paper Pad, Sand Dollar Die Cuts (85585) - Bits, Flamingo Stickers (42249) - Remarks, Sandpiper Stickers (42247) - Remarks, Surfboard (85584) - Delights, Tropical Elements Buttons (85437) - Elements, Sunflower (58291) - Premium Ribbon, Boardwalk Cascade (53363) - Thickers, Dimensional Dots Adhesive (61709) - This to That, Solid Glue Runner (61711) - This to That
1) Gather supplies including cardstock, Thickers, 6x6 paper pad, embellishments, grosgrain ribbon, 3D adhesive, standard hole punch, sewing machine, electronic die cutting machine.
2) Cut the first layer of banner shapes with a die cutting machine, or trim out using a paper trimmer. I used my Silhouette Cameo for these banner shapes.
3) Trim out three more layers of cardstock, decreasing the overall size by 1/2"-1" to make a layered effect.
4) Trim out three rectangular pieces of patterend paper from the 6x6" paper pad. Again, decreasing the overall size by 1/2" with each size toward the center paper which will be the top layer.
5) Take the top two pieces of you rectangular pieces and stitch either by machine or by handstitching around the perimeter of the top layer of patterned paper. Tip: to make sure that the pieces don't move while stitching, simply place a small amount of adhesive in the center of the two pieces prior to stitching to hold them together and in place.
6) To provide the additional feel of sunshine and summer, I then stitched a "ray" from one corner of the top layer of each of my rectangles, meeting at a) the top of the rectangle, b) the opposite corner of the rectangle, and c) the opposite long side of the rectangle. After stitching all six pieces, set them aside.
7) Stitch the top two pieces of cardstock of the banner together around the perimeter of each shape.
8) Using 3D adhesive, adhere your 2nd layer of cardstock to your base cardstock. Then adhere your stitched cardstock on top of that, making certain that each layer is centered vertically and horizontally. Then using 3D adhesive, adhere your stitched patterned paper rectangle to the bottom layer of patterned paper. Then adhere those pieces onto your cardstock banner.
9) Apply Thickers to the center of each rectangle centerpiece. Embellish as desired with stickers, die cut shapes, buttons, etc.
10) Using a standard hold punch, punch a hole into each top corner of your cardstock banner pieces, about 1/3" from the top and the side of the banner to ensure that it won't be too close to the edge. Weave grosgrain ribbon through each hole in an over under fashion so that the large piece of ribbon is in the back of the banner piece, lending stability while hanging.
Hang in a great location in your home to welcome summer!!
I know my kids will be excited to see this fun banner on the last day of school when I put it up to celebrate the onset of summer vacation! Thank you so much for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day! :D

6x6 Mini Paper Pads Guest Designer: Angela Gutshall
Our guest designer showing off mini paper pads this week is Angela Gutshall!
Short bio: I’m a stay at home mom of four blessings: Faith 7, Ty 5, Noah 3, and Hannah 1. I live in James Creek, PA with my wonderful husband of 11 years, Brian. I have been scrapbooking for six years, since my first baby was born. I wanted to capture her memories and fell in love with scrapbooking then and I never want to stop. I enjoy capturing moments and preserving them in my own style of scrapbooking. I prefer traditional scrapbooking so I can use my hands, my own ideas, and create my own layouts. I feel I have more of a creative outlet this way. I like to hand stitch on layouts. Another favorite is playing with mist/paint on layouts. I prefer to handwrite my journaling so my kids can know how personal it is. I also enjoy making mixed media projects!
How did you get started scrapbooking? I first got started when my younger sister had a Creative Memories party eight years ago. I was pregnant with my first child and I thought this was a great way to capture her memories. And here I am still scrapping and love every minute of it!
What is your favorite American Crafts product? This is such a tough question because I think you need them all to make great pages! But if I had to pick one it would be the Thickers because they are great for titles which you need for a page.
WHERE IS YOUR... by Angela Gutshall
Supplies: 6x6 Paper Pad (35658) - Neapolitan, Printed Chipboard Shapes (78070) - Bits, Parakeet (42234) - Remarks, Fair Ribbons (78066) - Ribbon, Muse Woodgrain (53343) - Thickers, Vanilla (71041) - Cardstock, Glue Dot Runner (61713) - This to That
I had fun layering all the papers and elements for this layout. The embellishments work so well together that they are easy to stack and look great together!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY by Angela Gutshall
Supplies: 6x6 Paper Pad (35658) - Neapolitan, Printed Chipboard Shapes (78070) - Bits, Fair Ribbons (78066) - Ribbon, Muse Woodgrain (53343) - Thickers, Borders, Accents, and Phrase Stickers (42235) - Remarks, Robin's Egg (71063) - Cardstock, Glue Dot Runner (61713) - This to That
I really love that pink piece of paper and wanted it to be my main background. I then decided to make blocks and stack my embellishments.
Supplies: 6x6 Paper Pad (35658) - Neapolitan, Printed Chipboard Shapes (78070) - Bits, Parakeet (42234) - Remarks, Ephemera (78065) - Elements, Muse Woodgrain (53343) - Thickers, Robin's Egg (71063) - Cardstock, Glue Dot Runner (61713) - This to That
I love that the 6x6 papers have the same patterns as the 12x12 papers but my favorite thing is the patterns are smaller. So when you use the flower paper it's not so busy because the print is smaller.
FISHING LESSON WITH DAD by Angela Gutshall
Supplies: 6x6 Paper Pad (35696) - Sketchbook, Splendid Black (53294) - Thickers, Parakeet (42234) - Remarks, Serendipity White (53291) - Thickers, Palette (42240) - Remarks Books, Doodle (42243) - Remarks, Printed Chipboard Shapes (77290) - Bits, Paint (42241) - Remarks, Kraft (71464) - Cardstock, Glue Dot Runner (61713) - This to That
For this layout I wanted to capture the sweet picture of my two boys fishing together. So I gathered some papers that made the picture stand out then layered some embellishments. I love white space, so the 6x6 papers are perfect for me.
FISHING MY WAY by Angela Gutshall
Supplies: 6x6 Paper Pad (35658) - Sketchbook, Printed Chipboard Shapes (77290) - Bits, Doodles (42243) - Remarks, Paint (42241) - Remarks, Splendid Black (53294) - Thickers, Scene Taffy (53342) - Thickers, Scene Cascade (53341) - Thickers, Smoke (71080) - Cardstock, Glue Dot Runner (61713) - This to That, Slick Writer Black (62001) - Pen
For this layout I wanted to play with all the fun embellishments so I created this cute banner using a little here and there. I then loved how the glitter Thickers made the page pop.
FAITH CANVAS by Angela Gutshall

6x6 Mini Paper Pads Layout Tutorial by Michelle Clement
Michelle Clement is here today to show you how to create this amazing layered page:
NO DELICATE ROSE by Michelle Clement
Supplies: 6x6 Paper Pad (35696) - Sketchbook, Palette (42240) - Remarks, Shaped Paper Clips (85566) - Embellishments, Buttons Tropicals (85437) - Elements, Fabric & Epoxy Brads (78074) - Elements, 6x6 Paper Pad (35658) - Neapolitan, Parakeet (42234) - Remarks, Hello Kale (53248) - Thickers, Amy Tangerine Tags (77259) - Bits
Step 1: Grab a 6x6 paper pad (or two) and the photos you want to use on your page then tear a bunch of the sheets from the paper pads in colours that coordinate with your photos. I used Amy Tangerine Sketchbook and Dear Lizzy Neapolitan and found a ton of great colours and patterns that work together.
Step 2: We're going to build the background on a 12x12 page using all of these gorgeous small papers you just ripped out. Start laying them out in two rows, one on top of the other, to see how the colours work together. Decide their rough placement on a 12x12 space in preparation for the next step.
Step 3: Lay a neutral 12x12 cardstock down (I used white) and start working from left to right on top of it, placing the papers in the rough order/shape you decided on, above. Line up the first colour in the top left corner and start to layer a few more on top of it, going across the length of the page. Vary the space between them, and then start sticking the squares down (just slip a mounting square under the corners, quickly). You can get creative here and crumple the edges for more texture, or add some tape for visual interest. Continue layering the squares from left to right until you've filled up the whole row in pattern - and don't overthink it!
Step 4: Repeat with the bottom row, working from left to right (and lining the papers up with the bottom edge) until the whole page is full.
Step 5: If you want, now's the time to add some sewing to make it look like the layers took longer than they did, or for a bit of a quilted effect - just haphazardly run the page through your machine, following some of the straight paper edges.
Step 6: And, voila: a quick, multi-faceted, layered base! Now that your page 'collage' is done, embellish and add your photos as you please!
Find the Sketchbook mini paper pad HERE and the Neapolitan mini paper pad HERE so you can create one of these awesome layered pages!

Spray Mist Cards by Leslie Ashe
Check out these three cards Leslie Ashe made using spray mist techniques!
For this card, I simply dripped spray mist on the base of my card. I also used the mist to make my chipboard letters the color I wanted for my card.
Supplies: Black Damask Cardstock (71168) – AC Cardstock, Gwyneth’s Graph Paper (35694) – Sketchbook, Sydney’s Snapshots Paper (35688) – Sketchbook, Paint (42242) – Remarks, Fabric Brads (85578) – Elements, Amy Tangerine Sketchbook Value Pack Ribbon (58817) – Premium Ribbon, Strip Glue Runner (61712) – This To That Adhesive
OH HOW LOVELY YOU ARE! by Leslie Ashe
I wanted a polka dot background, so I punched a spare sheet of cardstock with a small circle punch and used it as a mask for my spray mist.
Supplies: Taffy Cardstock (AM 710-22) – AC Cardstock, Paper Pad 6x6 (35696) – Sketchbook, Palette (42240) – Remarks, Cascade Scene (53341) – Thickers, Cucumber Éclair (53226) – Thickers, Strip Glue Runner (61712) – This To That Adhesive
SUNSHINE, SMILE! by Leslie Ashe
For this card, I wanted my sunshine to have a “shiny” effect. I created a “marble” texture by using two different mists (yellow and orange).
Supplies: Lemon Cardstock (AM710-39) – AC Cardstock, Cindy’s Sketch Paper (35680) – Sketchbook, Bailey’s Brush Paper (35675) – Sketchbook, Palette (42240) – Remarks, Cascade Scene (53341) – Thickers, Honey Paperback (53133) – Thickers, Strip Glue Runner (61712) – This To That Adhesive

Spray Mist Tutorial by Leah Farquharson
Today Leah Farquharson is going to show you how to make this adorable altered canvas:
Supplies: Silver Lining Velum Paper (35635) - Neapolitan, Wood Buttons and Epoxy Accents (78073) - Elements, Fabric and Epoxy Brads (78074) - Elements, Printed Variety Tags (78069) - Bits, Parakeet Serendipity (53293) - Thickers, Printed Chipboard Shapes (78070) - Bits, Accents and Phrases (42232) - Remarks Books, Ballerina Letter Stickers (42233) - Remarks, Parakeet Letter Stickers (42234) - Remarks, Borders, Accents and Phrase Stickers (42235) - Remarks, Rub-on Transfers (43395) - Minimarks, Mini Fair Ribbons (78066) - Embellishments, Pastel Pearl Brads (85581) - Elements; Other: Silhouette shapes: Doily, Heart, Banner by American Crafts, 10x10 artist canvas
I started by first priming my canvas with gesso and allowing it to dry. I like to seal canvas before working on it - it helps give me more control over the inks on the canvas. When the canvas is unsealed, the inks can seep in and spread out in a way that's not always very pleasing.
After my canvas was dry, I placed a die cut created with the Silhouette on the corner to create the background for my piece.
I gently spritzed my ink over the canvas, then removed the sprayer and flicked a few heavier drops onto the background. When I was finished, I removed my die cut.
I decided that I wanted to take the elements that were pre-cut and change their colors before layering them on the canvas, so I spritzed one of them red, another green, and the final element aqua.
I then just layered my elements onto the canvas just like I would create a layout - starting at the bottom with the rub ons, and layering more and more elements on top. I finished with the photo, and now I've got a fun canvas to hang in our home!
You can find the lovely rub on accents and phrases that Leah used in this project HERE!

Sketchbook Layout and Cards by Suzy Plantamura
A big, huge congrats to the randomly selected winner of the entire Sketchbook line, jengd:
Finishing up this week of fun is Suzy Plantamura with a layout and a bunch of cards:
For this layout, I used the cover of the Day Book to mat my photos. I just removed all the threads and took apart the book so each page could be used seperately. I cut all the clouds from a piece of patterned paper and attached them all over the top of the layout for a playful feel. The Sketchbook line has so many cute elements on the papers that are perfect for cutting out and using as die cut shapes.
Supplies: 12x12 Ocean (71064) - AC Cardstock, Indigo Inspiration Paper (35686) - Sketchbook, Ivory Impression Paper (35677) - Sketchbook, Layered Tags (77289) - Bits, Journal Black (53337) - Thickers, Journal Grass (53339) - Thickers, Scene Cascade (53341) - Thickers, Die Cut Cardstock Shapes (77290) - Bits, Doodle (42243) - Remarks Dimensional Stickers, Draw (42244) - Remarks Dimensional Stickers, Chapter (76224) - Day Book, 6x6 Paper Pad (35696) - Sketchbook
SKETCHBOOK CARDS by Suzy Plantamura
Each of these little note cards is made with a page from the Day Book. I just folded them over right where they were folded inside the book. I decorated them with all the other cute embellishments from the Sketchbook line and items cut from the papers. They were super easy to make and are really small and cute to adorn gifts or cheer some one up!
Supplies: Chapter (76224) - Daybook, Die Cut Cardstock Shapes (77290) - Bits, Ivory Impression Paper (35677) - Sketchbook, Sadie’s Story (35695) - Sketchbook, Viridian Vignette Paper (35676) - Sketchbook, Palette (42240) - Remarks Books, Paint (42242) - Remarks Fabric Stickers, Value 24 Pack (58817) - Premium Ribbon, Doodle (42243) - Remarks Dimensional Stickers, Flat Top Fabric Brads (85578) - Elements

Sketchbook Guest Designer: Elizabeth Gardner
Sharing her talent using the new Sketchbook line is the fabulous Elizabeth Gardner!
Short bio: I am currently in the middle of a big move from Orange County, California to Kentucky. (We are literally moving THIS week!) We have 3 kids and one on the way. As a family we're going through so many changes this year that my head is spinning. But I'm along for the ride and can't wait to see where this journey takes us. Recently I retired from a full time sign artist position for Trader Joe's. Although I really loved my job I will be focusing on being a full time Mom, Wife, and Scrapbooker. I could not be happier about that!
How did you get started scrapbooking? The first time I ever scrapbooked was to make a personal gift for my then boyfriend for Valentine's Day. I guess it worked because he's my husband now :) It's crazy to think that for years I avoided the scrapbook section of the craft store like the plague. Now I feel like I live there! All it took was that one album to hook me.
What is your favorite American Crafts product? If you twist my arm to pick one American Crafts product that I like the most (although it is REALLY hard because there are SO many) it would be the patterned paper. It comes in so many varieties of colors and patterns, and is super versatile. I also can simply NOT live without Thickers. I use them on Every. Single. Project.
FLOWERS FOREVER by Elizabeth Gardner
I fussy cut different patterns and placed them on a painted canvas. Then I added layers of stamping, sequins for a little bling, and a quote. Viola, a wall hanging!
Supplies: India Ink Paper (35685) - Sketchbook, Harpers Hue Paper (35687) - Sketchbook, Sadie's Story Paper (35695) - Sketchbook, Black .03 (62311) - Precision Pen, Draft Stamp Set (59161) - Sketchbook, Palette (42240) - Remarks, Paint (42242) - Remarks, Draw (42244) - Remarks, Doodle (42243) - Remarks, Flat-Top Fabric Brads (85578) - Elements, Scene Silver (53340) - Thickers, Scene Cascade (53341) - Thickers, Scene Taffy (53342) - Thickers, Solid Glue Runner (61711) - This to That, Charcoal (59501) - Pigment Ink
FEEL THE LOVE by Elizabeth Gardner

Sketchbook Mini Album Tutorial by Piradee Talvanna
Today Piradee Talvanna will show you step-by-step how to create a mini album using the new Sketchbook line!
Supplies: White (71081) - Cardstock, Padma's Pattern Paper (35673) - Sketchbook, Viridian Vignette Paper (35676) - Sketchbook, Cobalt Composition Paper (35679) - Sketchbook, Addi's Adoration Paper (35690) - Sketchbook, Saffron Study Paper (35693) - Sketchbook, Sadie's Story Paper (35695) - Sketchbook, Printed Chipboard Shapes (77290) - Bits, Draw (42244) - Remarks Dimensional Stickers
First I scored two lines on the left side of a white cardstock sheet to create the booklet.
Then I created the pages by cutting various patterned papers and then stapling them onto the folded cover. Next I placed a few foam dots right up to the folded sides, on the left; this helped hide the staples and also is the basis of how the mini all comes together.
With the mini album created, now comes the fun part of decorating the cover with a few spritz of mist, a few cut outs of the fun flowers, and some cute quotes from the die cut pack; this completes the cover and also the inside side of the cover.
Thanks everyone for joining me today and hopefully I've inspired you to give this a try. Cheers!!
