American Crafts Blog Hostess/Design Team Coordinator Paige Evans is in spotlight today:

Paige EvansName: Paige Evans

Short bio: My very first job when I was 16 years old (11 years ago now) was at a local scrapbooking store in Redmond, WA called Yesterdays. I've been addicted to scrapping ever since! Sometimes I think about what my life would be like now if I hadn't walked in and asked for an application (which they didn't have, they just took my phone number!) because so much of my life has revolved around scrapbooking since then... I work full-time from home for Northridge Publishing - we publish the magazines Scrapbook Trends/CARDS/Simply Handmade/Bead Trends/Cricut/Cricut Idea Books/Create: Idea Books, and then I also have the fun and amazing job of being the American Crafts Blog Hostess/Design Team Coordinator. Aside from scrapbooking I love spending time with my husband of five years, Chris, playing with our two-year-old son Fox and brand new baby girl Jane, and entertaining our menagerie which consists of a dog, cat, and chinchilla. I love to create on a daily basis and enjoy dabbling in everything from fine arts (painting, drawing, sculpting, printmaking, etc.), to bookbinding, basketweaving, photography, graphic design, and more!

Favorite thing to scrapbook: My family, especially Fox and Jane, and our many adventures living in SoCal.

Favorite AC product: Nope, I can't choose just one. I love EVERYTHING AC makes. But okay, I'll play by the rules and choose patterned paper!

5 fun facts:
1. I'm from Seattle and Chris is from Denver but we were married in Illinois. We have a soft spot for Nauvoo.
2. I've eaten over 16,000 bowls of cereal in my life.
3. I know Morse Code.
4. My sewing machine is used solely for paper... one of these days maybe I'll run some fabric through it!
5. Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday so I'm super excited that my son has an October birthday! It was meant to be :)

I'm still loving the banner trend and had fun snipping and trimming papers from the Ready Set Go line that coordinated with these sweet photos of my son. And since Amy Tan is known for her stitching, I had a little fun paying tribute to her and her awesome scrapbooking lines by stitching a star around the journaling.

Location: Mandeville, LA
Pinterest: pinterest.com/paroe
Twitter: @nihaopatricia

Short bio: I am a 40-something, living in Mandeville, LA, just 35 miles north of New Orleans. July of 2009 we became a Chinese adoptive family after over three years of waiting for our daughter. I love my family of three and my cat named Archie. Most of my time is spent hanging out with my 4-year old daughter, entertaining her, playing games, watching the Disney channel, and swimming in the summertime.

Favorite thing to scrapbook: Everyday life, my daughter, me, our family. I'll scrap just about anything.

Favorite AC product: I love it all! So I'll have to say I love the assortment and variety of the colors, textures, and amazing embellishments.

5 fun facts:
1. I could eat chips and salsa everyday.
2. You'll find Doctor Who on my DVR queue.
3. I love to travel, but I'm a homebody too.
4. My favorite time to create is at night, when it's quieter.
5. I love Starbucks so much we had to buy an espresso machine.

Patricia comments, "Mixing Shoreline, Sketchbook, and Neapolitan for this soft, but colorful layout and mixing Shoreline and Neapolitan for the soft colored card were so easy to put together because of the versatility of the tones and shades of the colors as well as the patterns in these lines. Together they can create beautiful contrasts in colors as well as a subtle contrast."

Spotlight: Diana Waite

Another newcomer, Diana Waite, is in the spotlight today:

Diana WaiteName: Diana Waite
Blog: wonderwoman-diana.blogspot.com
Location: Gilbert, AZ
Pinterst: pinterest.com/dianaw3

Short bio: I've been married to my best friend for almost 16 years (in December) we have 3 AWESOME children and two doggies. Growing up I was the only girl in a house of 4 kids, because of that I enjoy playing and watching sports. My favorites are track & field, soccer, and basketball. My grandmothers and mother inspired me creatively with their love of painting, knitting, pottery, and quilting. I LOVE to take pictures and recently challenged myself to use the manual setting on my camera. I enjoy reading, working out, and spending time with my family. I LOVE to play with paper - I have since I was a kid. My mom jokes that she used to have to hide the tape, paper (any kind), and scissors from me because I was ALWAYS making something to give away. (I always seemed to have found it anyway!) I have been scrapbooking with “modern day” tools for around 14 years. I don’t really have a word to describe my style. I enjoy trying new techniques such as misting, color combos, monochromatic, layering, and white space. I do have to say that I am linear, everything is pretty much straight on my pages. I scrapbook a mixture of single, multi photo, 12 x 12” and 8 1/2 x 11” pages. I also enjoy making cards, mini albums, and altered creations.

Favorite thing to scrapbook: My kids! (That includes my two doggies!)

Favorite AC product: Thickers!

5 fun facts:
1. I'm a Sci-Fi geek but I also LOVE a good mystery!
2. I LOVE peppermint! Especially with chocolate. I stock up on mint truffle Hershey Kisses at Christmas time!
3. I'm a proud soccer mom and I watch most of the games through the lens of my camera.
4. My favorite beverage of choice is a cold glass of water.
5. I enjoy baking (bread, cookies, and other goodies!)

Spotlight: Lilith Eeckels

Lilith Eeckels, another returning Design Team member, is spotlighted today:

Lilith EeckelsName: Lilith Eeckels
Blog: lilithandscrap.blogspot.com
Location: Bertogne, Belgium
Pinterest: pinterest.com/lilith

Short bio: Hi. I'm Lilith. I was born in Leuven, Belgium on 26th January 1979. As a child I grew up in South Africa and my parents moved back to Europe when I was a teenager and settled in the Grand Duchy of Luxemburg. I now live in the South of Belgium in the Ardennes. I am a mother to four marvellous but mischievous boys (Damien and Noé (8), Robin (5), and Elouan (3)) and have been married to the most wonderful man for 12 years. I'm a foreign language teacher. I teach Dutch and English to French speaking students and I LOVE it. Besides my passion for languages and teaching, there is also music, photography, and on the top of my list SCRAPBOOKING. I started just after getting married as I wanted to make a wedding album. I really got hooked when my two eldest boys were born in 2003 and I haven't stopped since. It helps me unwind from my hectic days being a mum and teaching teenagers. Scrapbooking has made me realise that I can be creative and I love documenting my family's life. It has made me become more confident and willing to have a go. I have also just ventured into the world of art journalling. This is has enabled me to try out new techniques and has given my scrapbooking style a new direction.

Favorite thing to scrapbook: My family and our life!

Favorite AC product: That's a hard one, but it must be patterned paper and I love the Remarks stickers. Add to that some Thickers and I'm a happy gal!

5 fun facts:
1. I'm always up for a good laugh but can takes things very seriously. My friends love to tease me and see how I react.
2. I always have cold feet and hands. I always go to bed with socks on (even in the summer) and in the winter you won't see me without a hot water bottle.
3. As a child I wanted to be an opera singer (still do)!
4. I am addicted to tea. I drink at least eight cups of English Breakfast tea with milk and sugar a day. And I get really moody if I don't. BAD HABIT!
5. I have a really high pain threshold. Example: Last year I went for a dental check-up. My dentist asked, "Any complaints?" I said, "No, I think everything's OK!". She has a look and then says, "Well you should be in agony, I don't understand! Your root is exposed. How can you NOT feel that?" This probably explains why I didn't think giving birth was that bad.

Lilith shares, "As there was no assigned theme I just went with the flow and created two layouts that made me happy. I choose to go all Dear Lizzy Neapolitan and I can say I have near to nothing left from this line. I am so thrilled to be designing for another year and can't wait to get creating with the new releases!"

Spotlight: Leslie Ashe

We're featuring another returning member, Leslie Ashe, on the blog today:

Leslie AsheName: Leslie Ashe
Blog: leslieashe.blogspot.com
Location: Forth Worth, TX
Pinterest: pinterest.com/leslieashe
Twitter: @LeslieAshe

Short bio: Hi, I’m Leslie Ashe. I’m a born and bred Texan who met, fell in love, and married my California boy (Alan) 22 years ago. (Who, btw, moved to Texas. For me.) We have two amazing children (Savannah and Shaypher) who are the lights of our lives! They’re both off at college, so our nest is a bit empty, but fills up quickly when they’re home for holidays and weekends. Scrapbooking began for me over 16 years ago and I haven’t looked back since. Creating is my outlet. When I’m not creating you can find me curled up with a good book, with my family, or out snapping all the memories I can get in a day. I’ve been blessed beyond belief to have some of my works published in Scrapbook Trends, Simply Handmade, Cards, Creating Keepsakes, along with several idea books. It’s quite a dream come true to be a part of American Crafts for another year!

Favorite thing to scrapbook: My kids, hands down!

Favorite AC product: If I have to name just one, it's Thickers! It's a rare project that doesn't include them!

5 fun facts:
1. My husband of 22 years still makes my heart pitter pat!
2. I can read a novel in one day. I LOVE to read. My kids think I should have been a librarian.
3. Speaking of my kids – they hate it when I get asked if I’m their “sister” when we’re out somewhere. I quite delight in that fact.
4. When I feel like a treat, my #1 place to stop is Starbucks. It’s no wonder I reached “gold” level so fast.
5. Clowns will always ALWAYS freak me out. I can’t even go to the circus. It’s that bad.

Welcome
THE WELCOME COMMITTEE by Leslie Ashe

Leslie shares, "It was a GREAT day when princess Presley was born! My middle sister and I drove to Houston to be with the family to welcome her into this world. It was a fun experience to bond with my sisters and take on our new roles as “great aunts” and “grandmother”. I wanted that to be the focus of my project so I used the delicate shades of Dear Lizzy Neapolitan with my bold black and white photos."

Spotlight: Leah Farquharson

Another returning member, Leah Farquharson, is in the spotlight today:

Leah FarquharsonName: Leah Farquharson
Blog: amusing-to-create.blogspot.com
Location: Lauderhill, FL
Pinterest: pinterest.com/bluebirdchic
Twitter: @bluebirdchicllc

Short bio: I'm blessed to have found my soulmate {and to still be able to say that after 10 years of marriage!}. We're raising our two awesome boys together in the sunny South Florida Metro area. I'm a small business owner, so I juggle a lot of things. But I love what I do, and almost pinch myself daily... I love the city, the beach, ice cream, and reading by the pool.

Favorite thing to scrapbook: Everyday life for myself and our family.

Favorite AC product: Oh, man. I can never pick just one! I always, always love the bright colors and bold patterns of the papers - and the HUGE variety of embellishments in so many different textures to match each line always inspires me to want to scrapbook!

5 fun facts:
1. I was homeschooled. Now, we homeschool our boys.
2. I'm a vegetarian.
3. I was this close to going to art school...
4. I'm a bit of a nerd. Ok. A bigger nerd than I'd like to admit...
5. I'm a woman of faith.

Leah says, "My sister recently came to visit at our home for about a week before our family went on a trip to visit our parents. It was fun to have her here to hang out with! Who else can you be so silly with? For my card today, I'm always looking for simple, fun sayings to use for my cards {this always seems to be the hardest part of card making for me!}. Today's card was inspired by one of my favorite authors - J. K. Rowling. When Hagrid meets Harry for the first time on his birthday, he states "It's not every day yer young man turns eleven!" I feel like that pretty much sums up a magical time in a kid's life - teetering on the edge of their teens."

SUMMER ADVENTURES by Kimberly Neddo

"This layout is my current favorite for many reasons. I LOVE these two girls together. They are such a joy, and always off creating some fun adventures around my Aunt place in California. I really loved combining several of the new lines together for this layout. They all work so well together. Lately I've really been enjoying making banners with my patterned papers. For this layout, I created a fun banner frame to add movement to my page and draw the viewers eye right to the photograph. I really love the Roxie Alphabet Stamp set too. It's the perfect size for a subtitle, and really great to mix it up, as I did for my title, with a pen diluted with water to fill it in."

Spotlight: Heather Leopard

Continuing with spotlights, Heather Leopard is featured today:

Heather LeopardName: Heather Leopard
Blog: thespottedleopard.blogspot.com
Location: Cypress, TX
Pinterest: pinterest.com/heatherleopard
Twitter: @heatherleopard

Short bio: I'm a mommy to two adorable girls and a wonderful step-son with a hubby who supports my crafty obsessions. I'm lucky enough to work at home using my marketing background and passion for social media. I'm usually found in my office/craft room playing with papers, scissors, and embellies.

Favorite thing to scrapbook: My family, specifically my kids, but I also realize the importance to capture the memories between my hubby and I.

Favorite AC product: Thickers, Remarks, and Bits, OH MY!

5 fun facts:
1. Most of our vacations involve the beach/ocean so we can scuba dive. Our most exciting adventures have been in Belize where we've encountered hammerhead sharks at The Elbow and nurse sharks at the Blue Hole!
2. Although I dated my hubby for 2+ years, we got married 3 days after he proposed... we had a "weddingmoon" on a beach in St. Lucia! And yes, we went scuba diving in the morning and got married that afternoon.
3. I recently got locked out of the back of the hotel I was staying at, not just my room, and it was quite amusing walking around to the front of the hotel, going into the lobby with freshly showered wet hair in my pj's to get new keys! I find new ways to laugh at myself on a daily basis!
4. I'm no stalker by any means but I have been known to go to extremes (don't ask, don't tell) to meet my fave singer, who happens to be Rob Thomas!
5. I have met the most amazing people, some who have become my closest friends, because of this hobby!

Heather 475 She Sells Seashells
SHE SELLS SEASHELLS by Heather Leopard

Heather tells, "I wanted the main focus of this page to reflect how much fun my daughter had picking seashells so I layered distressed papers and embellishments and topped it with this photo of her showing me one of her handfuls of shells. I completed my designer’s triangle by enhancing the pre-printed design at the bottom and adding another set of embellishments at the top. I wanted to create a fun title for my page and in this case, it was one of the first steps in my creative process because I knew I wanted to cut it with my die cut machine and mat it from the back with paper that looked like seashells. It draws the entire page together."

Supplies: Solana Paper (35738) – Shoreline, Carpinteria Paper (35721) – Shoreline, Coronado Paper (35728) – Shoreline, Ventura Paper (35731) – Shoreline, Santa Monica Paper (35723) – Shoreline, Edgewater Paper (35739) – Shoreline, Sea Isle Paper (35732) – Shoreline, Neptune Paper (35729) – Shoreline, Pacific Beach Paper (35737) – Shoreline, Boardwalk Black (53360) – Thickers, Flamingo (42249) – Remarks Books, Surfboard (85584) – Delights; Other: Cameo Die Cut Machine by QuicKutz

Heather 475 By the Sea Shore
HAPPY DAY BY THE SEA SHORE by Heather Leopard

"I originally scoped these two pages out as a one pager but decided to break them out into two separate pages that could stand alone or go together. The title flows together very well from the previous page but by adding the Happy Day sticker from the Remarks Book, this page can be read as a fluid title if it is viewed as on its own page. To draw the eye around the page I created mini scenes. I wanted these scenes to show the magnitude of my daughter’s quest to find as many shells as she could."

Supplies: Oceanside Paper (35727) – Shoreline, Coronado Paper (35728) – Shoreline, Ventura Paper (35731) – Shoreline, Edgewater Paper (35739) – Shoreline, Pacific Beach Paper (35737) – Shoreline, Neptune Paper (35729) – Shoreline, Carpinteria Paper (35721) – Shoreline, Vero Paper (35719) – Shoreline, Malibu Paper (35722) – Shoreline, Sea Isle Paper (35732) – Shoreline, Boardwalk Black (53360) – Thickers, Flamingo (42249) – Remarks Books, Surfboard (85584) – Delights, Solid Adhesive Runner (61719) – This to That, Foam Dots (61709) – This to That, Black .03 (62311) – Precision Pen; Other: Cameo Die Cut Machine by QuicKutz

Spotlight: Erin Stewart

Erin Stewart is sharing her talent with us today:

Erin StewartName: Erin Stewart
Blog: simplyerins.blogspot.com
Location: El Paso, TX
Pinterest: pinterest.com/erinstewrt

Short bio: Hi, I am Erin. I really enjoy photography and scrapbooking. I started back in high school when I made a huge album of 12x12 pages. Later on I found digital scrapbooking and was drawn to the advantages of working with technology and pictures. I did digital scrapbooking for three years. I fell out of love with the digital because I wanted more. So for the past two years I have been traditional scrapbooking and haven't looked back. I am a photographer and dabble in graphic design. Scrapbooking is my place to relax and forget everything else except what matters. I love putting a story to my family photos. I am so richly blessed with a wonderful, loving husband and sweet, two-year-old son. We are a military family right now stationed in El Paso, Texas though we are originally from Georgia. I am so excited and honored to be apart of the American Crafts Design Team!

Favorite thing to scrapbook: My little family.

Favorite AC product: I love all the products, but if I had to choose one I guess it would be the Remarks stickers - so easy to use on every project.

5 fun facts:
1. I eat way too much chocolate. Especially with salt! I can't get enough.
2. I have known my husband since I was 10!
3. Standing is my preferred way to scrapbook.
4. My husband and I have moved every single year of our marriage.
5. I love a clean home! It's so relaxing and good for the mind.

Erin suggests, "Don't be afraid to cut the paper! I am better at this than before. Mostly because the paper is pilling up… got to  use all that paper."

Today we're spotlighting returning member Corrie Jones:

Corrie JonesName: Corrie Jones
Blog: corejones.blogspot.com
Location: Dallas, GA
Pinterest: pinterest.com/corej
Twitter: @corrie_jones

Short bio: Hi, I am Corrie. I live with my dear hubby and three active girls in the 'burbs of Atlanta, Georgia. I have been scrapbooking for a couple of years, ever since two large plastic tubs jammed full of photos started laughing at me. I bought four sheets of paper, blue Thickers, some double-sided tape, and a scrapbook magazine, and I haven't look back since! Now scrapbooking is my way to relax, to stretch muscles in my brain that tend to be dormant in my number crunching job, and a great reason to spend my time with my friends. Other than scrapbooking, I enjoy being at the beach, photography, and reading. Being a part of the American Crafts Design Team is a dream and I am truly honored!

Favorite thing to scrapbook: My girls. They always have some sort of craziness going on that I really can't help but snap pictures of and then scrapbook.

Favorite AC product: Hands down, it is Thickers. I love every style and color. I can't have enough. A close second are the bits and pieces, you know, the tags, buttons, brads, and fun extras in each line.

5 fun facts:
1) From the first sign of warm air until the 1st frost, I refuse to wear socks.
2) The beach is my favorite place to be. I dream of living close enough to smell salt air everytime I open my door.
3) My family will occasionally have a day in song where we have to sing everything to each other instead of saying it.
4) I am most creative and productive while scrapbooking alone, in my space, with no TV or music.
5) I would still rather talk on the phone verses texting, Facebook or email. I guess that is just leftover from my computer free teen years!

Spotlight: Allison Waken

Today we're spotlighting Allison Waken:

Allison WakenName: Allison Waken
Blog: allisonwaken.com
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Pinterest: pinterest.com/Allison_Waken
Twitter: @AllisonWaken

Short bio: My name is Allison Waken and I'm a wife and mom to two boys (9 and 7), two dogs, and a few creepy crawly pets. We live in the desert of AZ and try to travel to our family in Southern California often! I love change and trying new things, but it sometimes leaves my head swimming with ideas and to-do lists. I love photography, building LEGOS, traveling (who doesn't), and the beach. I started scrapbooking as a child and while the reasoning is the same, my style is a bit different! I love the creativity and artistic side of this hobby. I think it's an amazing way to share our lives with our families.

Favorite thing to scrapbook: Everyday moments with my boys.

Favorite AC product: Thickers! I love mixing different Thickers for a fun title; I think it sets the whole mood of the page. The amazing paper takes a close second!

5 fun facts:
1. When I was 12 I flew a B17 "Flying Fortress" (OK, it was already in the air, and both pilots were right there but still)!
2. My husband and I are high school sweethearts. I was 14 when we met and we've been together ever since!
3. I find it hard to sit and watch tv without my laptop as well. My brain needs several things to do at once!
4. I'm not the most graceful person on earth or anywhere near it! I don't even get embarrassed by it anymore.
5. I love change. New paint colors, re-arranging furniture, what I want to study, where I want to live... Drives my husband crazy!

Allison says, "I LOVE layering my American Crafts products! Tucking an embellishment here and there always seems to be the perfect finishing touch."
