Lindsays Spring Break Adventure...................

Those of you who visit our blog frequently realize that we mix things up daily. One day we might post very cool projects, another day free prizes, sometimes three random thoughts, at times the many adventures of the Cosmo Cricket team, and on occasion we try to give you a glimpse of our personal lives.

We, like all of you, are real people with real experiences, struggles, successes, fun times and challenges. We love each of you because you help us keep everything in perspective.

So Julie posted yesterday about her and her families much deserved "mini Spring Break vacation." It sounds like they had a great time. They work so hard and it's the first getaway that they have had since starting Cosmo Cricket.

So now it's my turn. My wife and I decided for Spring break to take my 16 year old son and go out and meet my real dad and his wife.

(Those new to our blog might not know that I had never met them, and just recently met my brother Chris, Greg, and cute sister Jen.)

After meeting the kids, who live in Florida and Georgia, my dad had called several times telling me that he and his wife really wanted to meet me. ( I know what you're thinking....They didn't know what they were getting themselves into.)

I didn't mean to put them off but my business schedule has been a little hectic and I couldn't give them a commitment. (Are the lyrics from Harry Chapins "Cats in the Cradle" going through your mind right now?)

After I got a few things in control at work I decided to call and asked if it was okay if we came out to visit them during Spring Break. I was dying to meet them.

Lindsay Bill and Andrea
Picture: Bill, Me (after eating a ton of food on the trip), and Andrea.

My wife asked if I was nervous while we were making the 13 hour drive. I said no, as I polished off a whole bag of Cheddar popcorn, three soda's, a package of dry salami, 4 Giant size Hershey candy bars, a container of gourmet chocolate covered fruit, not to mention the numerous fast food places between Providence Utah and Monterey California.

( I was hoping they would meet the skinny Lindsay but instead they got the one that ended up lbs heavier when I arrived at their door step. I attribute it to the elevation.)

We stayed with them had a great time! Bill made us dinner the first night and I must say he is a great cook. His wife was charming and one of the nicest people I have ever met. Each night we stayed up late talking. The first night, Bill and I, the next night me and Andrea.

They told stories of their lives and I shared some of my own. Bill loves to tell stories and Andrea is a teaser. My wife and Andrea teased that they know where I got the gift of gab from.

We love them both. They are the  neatest people and it's funny how our lives, in many ways have paralleled each other.

My 16 year old kept calling the two of them Grandpa and Grandma. He asked on the long drive home if we could go back next year for Spring break. I told him that we would be back long before that. They are now planning a trip to see us next month.

Yesterday Bill was going to call me to make sure that we made it home okay and I called first. The whole time he kept calling me son. It made me eye's water and something that I'm very proud of. They are dad and mom to me just like my mom and her husband are mom and dad to me. I think that's okay.

We know that not all things in life turn out this way and that not all is "Happily Ever After", but I must admit this time it did.

Some Quick Inspiration

Hey everyone!  Gym Girl here.  Have you ever put something away so it will be "safe" and you can find it when you need it.  Only to never find it again?  I never write checks.  I'm a debit card kind of girl.  The only checks I write are to my salon.  I am headed to Salt Lake to get my hair and nails done today.  I realized I am out of checks. So, I run downstairs to grab some "real quick" and 40 minutes later find them in the dumbest place!  So, since I am running so late today, the blog will be short and sweet! :)  Besides, that's what you're really after anyway, right?  Some quick inspiration to get you through the day.  So, here are some inspiring projects from some of our very creative Cosmo Cricket fans!

What would your super power be?

Hey everyone!  Gym Girl here.  Today at the gym, we were talking about super powers.  I know, tough job I have, right?  One of my co-workers said she'd like to be able to become invisible.  Here's a little back story:  Last week, I started to tell her about a conversation I had with a gym member.  She replied, "I know, I was listening!"  She wasn't very stealthy about it.  She pretended to clean the perfectly spotless counter where I was standing. So, I think she could surely use this ability.  She's not very inconspicious!  Then, the super power conversation got a little silly.  We were bored, what can I say!  I wondered if she may be letting on to a super power she already possesses.  So, I've decided that next time I talk to this guy, I need to clear the area around me as to make sure she's not listening.  Kind of like Wonder Woman (for those of you too young to remember Wonder Woman, click here.)http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9l0w_wonder-woman-spin_creation  I figure, either he will think I'm a riot....or completely mad.  Either way, it will be hilarious!  So if you are at Planet Fitness in Logan, UT tomorrow morning, you too can see the mortified and/or confused look on tha poor guy's face when I randomly start spinning!

I have yet to decide what my power would be.  I don't want to fly, I might swallow a bug.  I don't want to be strong, people would make me move things for them.  What would your super power be?

Wow, Lindsay's only been on vacation for two days and already I've started rambling like him.  Oh, how we miss his random thoughts.

Oh, yeah.  We are a scrapbook company!  Here are some awesome projects fans have sent me.  You guys are SO talented!  I can't get over the creativity you possess!  Keep sending them my way.  I love seeing all the teriffic ideas you have!  Email me your greatest projects to tiffany@cosmocricket.com

Birthday Invites, Surprises, Giveaways

Jack is turning 5! I have always dreamed of having a beautiful "Martha-esque" party with all these lovely paper creations I've made, but alas it's never happened. Too busy with life I guess. So, this year I am getting started early. His birthday is on the 27th, but I've already made the invitations. They were so easy, it only took about 20 minutes total. (Let me apologize for the shadows. It's partly cloudy here today and the light keeps changing.)

These cute cards were inspired by this little animal sound book I made. It took less than 10 minutes, but I love it!

Now for my big surprise. Tomorrow morning at 5:30am, I will be waking my four beautiful children, piling them into the car and driving them to the airport. We spent all of Eric's sky miles to buy six tickets to California.

When we get to the airport, we are going to tell them that we are flying to see their grandma in St George. They will be really excited about this, partly because they love to see their grandma, but mostly because none of them have ever been on a plane.

When we land in LA (it was a lot cheaper than John Wayne or Long Beach) we are telling them that grandma's house is about 2 hours from the airport. I'm sure that it won't take long for Ethan and Kate to figure out that we are in California (we have done similar tricks before, like telling them we are driving home from grandma's only to end up at Disneyland). When they do, we are going to tell them that they must have put us on the wrong plane and now we are lost.

We are taking them to see their cousins that live in Orange. They haven't seen them for 5 years. We'll also hit Disnelyland and the beach and then be back on Friday. I can't wait!

Now for another surprise, we are offering our stores Cosmo Cricket Combo Kits for National Scrapbook Day. These kits are similar to the one we did for HSN...... pricing and everything! I won't put all the details here because Lindsay put them together and I might make a mistake...... by the way, Lindsay is on his way to Northern California at the moment..... he's meeting his dad this week!!!!!

OK, back to the kits. There are three different ones: Garden Variety with Early Bird, Joy Ride with Lil' Man and Material Girl with Earth Love. They have tons of stuff. They will value around $37.00 with around 1800 pieces and you could win one! You can enter on our blog www.cosmocricket.com Tell us one of your favorite surprises to be entered into our random drawing. We'll choose three winners that we'll announce here tomorrow morning.

Let's Take a Little Joy Ride

I would try to write a fun story or something to make you laugh, but it is snowing and I am mad about it! There is at least 5 inches of fresh snow on the ground at the moment and more is coming down. Have I ever told you that I feel like one of the kidnapped girls in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers? Yep, I've been taken up to the mountains and I won't be let down until spring! Bless my beautiful hide!!! I guess it could be worse...... Eric's out there shoveling the driveway as I sit in my cozy kitchen complaining for you all!

OK, I have received some of the funnest Joy Ride projects. I've hardly had a chance to use this line myself. But, Jack has a birthday the end of April and I have big plans of doing it up with these fun papers! Can you imagine the polka-dotted and striped party hats?

The following projects come from the SRM Sticker's Design Team. They are a super-talented group of girls! Then there's one from a fan and one from our team member, Laura. Take a look!
