Happiness Canvas Album

Hello everyone!! This is my first post on the Maya Road DT Blog and I am so excited to be here!!

I wanted to share with you this project I made a while ago. This little minibook combines the canvas pocket binder album and the canvas tag album. I wanted to make myself a little reminder that happiness is a mindset and I wanted my album to be really happy-looking. So I painted the cover and each page with bright colors.

Mraj1

I also printed several of my favorite quotes on happiness and put one on each page. I filled some of the pages with fabric hand-made embellishments.

Mraj8

and used my stash of mini chipboard sets on the other pages.

Mraj10

I don't tend to use paint, bling, or flowers on my layouts but on projects like this, I use them to my heart's content.

Mraj17

Here's a different perspective on the finished album. You can see how all the pages are different and colorful.

Mraj22

And I made sure to add the reminder in the back as well. These doilies and kraft tickets are some of my all-time favorite Maya Road products. I am in love with pretty much the entire kraft collection.

Mraj2

You can see the entire album here.

I don't really make mini albums anymore but, once in a while, I will sit and do a fun project like this. It's a great way to play, try out new ideas, and use my stash. If you feel creatively stuck, I highly recommend sitting with a small minibook and just having fun.

Thanks so much for letting me share my book with you and if you've done a fun project "just for you" I would love to see it so please leave a link with it in the comments!

Have a great day!

Sew Crafty Banners!

Morning Roadies! I have two projects to share with you today! Both banners I made using the Sewing Machine mini album.  I love to try to figure out new ways to use mini albums and coaster sets.  The album was just screaming to be made into a banner.

So first up is actually a banner I made quite some time ago.  It is still one of my very favorite projects ever.  I covered the chipboard with fabric paper and embellished.

Thinking of Spring

Here in Texas Spring has sprung. All the trees are blossoming and the bulbs are blooming. As much as I love winter and the cold seeing all the beatiful flowers is a wonderful site. So with spring in mind I thought I would create a fun spring card for a special someone.

HPIM2133

The "Green Thumb" mini chipboard watering can, fence and wheelbarrow are perfect embellishments for this spring themed card. The fence is painted with white acrylic paint and accented using brown ink and a black pen. I applied green glitter and ink to the watering can and a "Green Gingham Point Blossom" to the front of the can. The wheelbarrow is covered with patterned paper, brown ink and glossy acccents. A "Red Gingham Point Blossom" is attached behind the handle of the wheelbarrow and a "Vintage Pearl Trinket Pin" was placed among the flowers with the little sentiment "Hi". Oh and I almost forgot... the sweet yellow and white checked piece hiding behind the bunny is a chipboard frame I altered with patterned paper, glitter and Stickles.

HPIM2134

Wishing you all a wonderful day. It's "Spring Break" for us in Frisco, Texas  so I'm enjoying the birds singing during these lazy mornings.

Hugs,
Lisa M. Pace

~Sweet Summer Fizz~

How about some old fashioned summer in a frame?  I could not resist creating something with the cover and 2nd page (for height) of the Mason Jar Album

  65d00f91a15175ac8b7e8cd1b5ad27b0.image.269x268
IMG_4862

I used one of my beige dollar store stash frames and painted it up white, then gave it a rough sand.    I used a vintage plastic candy cane that I cut apart for the straw.  Some Crate Paper and Helmar 450 adhesive and a lot of button threading and I was on my way. :)

IMG_4869

The Noah Alphabet rubons always come in handy for tiny spots.  The Vintage Crochet Trim helps to soften up the top of the framed area.

IMG_4849

These would make cute invitations and cute place markers for a party.  The possibilities are endless with the Mason Jar album.  I hope I have inspired you to make something fun!

Canvas dress form project!

Maya Road has some fabulous canvas products and one of my favorite is the dress form canvas pieces. For CHA I wanted to do something a little different than making an album and this project is what I came up with. A dimensional dress form featuring many Maya Road goodies!

IMG_6136

Here is what you will need: Maya Road dress form canvas pieces, Maya Road Organza Roses Ribbon (small and large), Maya Road crystal pins, red heart pins, Maya Road black pleated ribbon, Maya Road Doily Border stamps, Maya Road pleated and gingham ribbon, tea bags, stamping ink, floss, fabric adhesive, fiberfill, pencil, fabric, fabric stiffener, spool.

First boil several tea bags in a pot of water. I probably used 8-10 bags. Add your canvas pieces to the dye water and let soak. I put something heavy on top of them to keep them completely immersed in the dye. When dry, stamp with the MR doily banner stamp. Hand stitch with floss (if desired).

IMG_6131
I used the bottom of the canvas dress form as a template and cut a piece of fabric to fit the base of the canvas. I applied this piece to the dress form and then gave it a coat of fabric stiffener. This just gives the project a bit more stability. Using a #2 pencil I covered it with Maya Road ribbon. Apply your organza ribbon to the spool and you are ready construct the dimensional dress form.

IMG_6133
Using fabric glue adhere your two canvas pieces together. (I used clothespins to help me hold edges together while the glue was drying). Make sure to leave an opening at the bottom of the form. This will be where your "pencil stand" will be. Once it is dry, add your fiberfill and stuff the dress form and glue the bottom of the form shut. Add the form to the spool and add your embellishments! Since the canvas project is stuffed it is so fun to stick those Maya Road pins right in the form! Just stick them to add some decoration. This project would also make a unique pin cushion gift for someone!

I hope you enjoyed this project and are inspired to make something using the incredible products from Maya Road!!! Shelley Haganman

Ready For Spring!

Hi Roadies!  With Spring being just around the corner,  I thought I'd share one of my favorite Spring projects with you today.

When I was given the Mementos Air Mail box to work with for CHA,   I wanted to try doing something a little different, as I had done a mailbox and album before. So I decided to combine the mailbox with a Mementos Town House.  Here's how it turned out.

MR_CONVERTEDMAILBOX

To keep the mailbox door from closing (or bending up) I attached some thick chipboard to the bottom of the box to keep it rigid.

Pages from the Scroll Binder were  used to construct the roof. Because the length of the pages were not long enough to fit the sides of the mailbox, I  glued and taped 2 pages together to create 1 long side of the roof (x2) . Then taped the two "seamed" pages together with masking tape to create the center peak of the roof.

The Tiny Banner Stamp Set was used to create the banners seen in the close up below...

Roof_stamp_cu

... and  Trinket Pins were added between the strips of grass on the side of the house. The mini picket fence and flower chipboard pieces used are from the new Green Thumb Chipboard Set.

Sideview

For a fun touch, I added a propeller to the top of the roof, which was  made out of chipboard pieces from the Mixed Blossoms and Mixed Shapes sets.

MRCONVERTEDMAILBOX_TOPVIEW

Since the house looked a little empty,  I created a little chick to go with it.  Here she is checking out her new place! :)

ReadyForSpring

Maya Road Supplies: Mementos Air Mail, Mementos Town House, Scroll Binder, Windows Chipboard Set, Tiny Banners Stamp Set,  Heart Trinket Pins, Star Trinket Pins, Mixed Blossom Chipboard Set, Mixed Shapes Chipboard Set and Green Thumb Chipboard Set.

Patterned Paper - Basic Grey

For the supply list and info on creating the chick, go you can go HERE.

See you soon, Roadies!!!

What A Hoot - Metal Owl Fun!

IMG_4913
Howdy Roadies, I wanted to share with you a very simple owly project today. Our design team has a lot of owl love in it and after talking to some of them, I decided to create one this week to hang on a wall in my kid's room. Here is the sweet guy. Do you see some Maya Road goodies on here?

I started off with a few supplies:

1. MR  mega bottlecaps

2. MR motifs bingo markers

3. MR large daisy lace trim (For the hair)

4. flower punch

5. patterned paper

6. MR tiny banners chipboard

7. ten seconds studio metal

8. TSS mold and tools

9. scissors/ tape/ adhesive

IMG_4910
IMG_4912

All I did was free hand cut the owl out of the peacock metal. He is a basic egg shape and I just added the ears. Then I embossed a piece of gold nugget metal and cut his belly out. I then stuffed his belly with a piece of tissue (not used of course!) to give it a puff look.

Next I covered one of the mini triangle banners with brown cardstock to make his beak. I punched 2 flowers out of patterned paper and layered them behind the wooden bingo motif and then set them into the bottlecap. Next I glued everything together and voila here he is:

IMG_4914
And that is it - your owl that you can make in about 30 mins. How cool is that?

Caroline
