I of the things I love about your papers is that there really are no scraps. Leftover bits, sure but nothing so inconsequential to truly be a a scrap. So I used leftovers together with other scraps (my black scrap pile), a bit of ribbon I've had for 4 years, flowers (and metal rounds) made from Diet Mtn Dew cans, leftover alpa pieces."

EarthDayPrize

Here is an example of a recycled Graphic 45 creation. This was made by me, Kelly Woessner.  I created this using some scraps of Le Cirque and some leftover Curtain Call tags and borders. I also used some recycled board game packaging for that cool circular texture as well as an image from a discarded history book. The Geometric Metal Door Plate and Knob was new, but for the most part this was all made with stuff I had lying around. It was fun and it was a good way to make use of items that might have otherwise ended up in the garbage.

PresPoseLO2

We are excited to see your awesome creations, crafters. We hope you have a super weekend! We will be back on Monday with more craft inspiration. Hopefully you'll take a moment today to go outside and breath some fresh air on this special Earth Day.

Hello Crafters!

We are so happy that you've stopped by to see us today! We are really excited to introduce yet another member of our 2011 Design Team today, the fabulous Melanie Forbes from Australia! Her style is fun, vibrant, and complex. She's a fan of using little details to create something that's grand and intricate. In every piece she creates there are multiple treasures to behold when you take a close look. Her work draws you in and keeps you captivated with all its lavish layers and soulful colors. Her style radiates with life and energy. Take a look at her wonderful blog Mel's Place and you'll agree, she's an exuberant and beautifully eccentric artist. She loves what she does and it shows in her fabulous crafts. We are so thrilled to welcome her to our new Design Team. Please say hello to the wonderfully creative Melanie Forbes!

MelanieF

"I have been scrapping since the birth of my second daughter in 2005 when I discovered scrapbooking in a magazine that was given to me in hospital. Since then I have worked in the industry in both retail, wholesale and design work with numerous publications in Australian scrapbook magazines. My style would be definitely layered and detailed/busy - I want people to want to look more closely at my work - bit like those story books as a kid where you got to lift panels and find things inside!!! I use a lot of different techniques in my work and most projects take several hours if not days due to the complexity of them. In particular I LOVE off the page items - mainly home decor which I can utilise around the house or for the sole purpose of display work in numerous retail stores here in Perth. To me it is all about recording memories and is a hobby I love doing and am lucky enough to be involved in this industry at such a level. Since discovering Graphic 45 papers online a few years ago I have bought every design  and it suits my style to a T!" -Melanie Forbes

Here is a beautiful layout that Melanie created using Le Cirque, Curtain Call, and Graphic 45 Staples. This is a perfect example of Melanie's savvy when it comes to creating complex layers. All the tiny details work together to make this LO very fun and elegant.

MelanieF01

MelanieF02

Here is a very pretty Once Upon a Springtime card by Melanie. Again you can see her use of decadent layers and textures in this lovely card. I love her beautiful paper distressing and just a little bit of glitter to make the flowers shimmer. It's so fabulous!

MelanieF03

Here we have a captivating piece of Le Romantique altered art by Melanie. This piece is fascinating with it's beautiful flowers, distressed paper dress, and flowing train. It's like a wonderful paper sculpture,  so dazzling and unique.

This is a perfect example of Melanie's fantastic imagination. Here we have a stunning Steampunk Debutant altered clock. When you first lay eyes on a piece like this you instantly feel compelled to get a closer look. There is a lot to discover in Melanie's work and it's always a joy to discover its hidden treasures.

Eclectic Journeys: Introducing Nancy Wethington

Hello Clever Crafters!

It's another fantastic day in the world of papercrafting! We welcome you to our blog today as we introduce yet another new and amazing member of our 2011 Design Team, Nancy Wethington! But first we want to announce the random winner of this week's blog prize! We asked you to leave us a comment any day this week for your chance to win a fabulous Graphic 45 craft prize. We had tons of amazing comments and we want to thank everyone who dropped us a line this week! Our random winner is Brenda Whitehead! Brenda left us a comment on yesterday's blog saying, " Very interesting story! Love learning the "back story" of the company!" Thanks Brenda! Please email us at info@g45papers.com to claim your prize! Congratulations!

Okay, lets get back to our 2011 Design Team introductions! We are very excited to welcome Nancy Wethington to our new team. The crafts you will see today were submitted by Nancy in the final round of our Design Team call. Her projects were among some of the first to arrive at our offices. I remember vividly opening the box that contained her submission and being completely floored by the wonders contained within. So lets just get right to it, shall we? We're going to take you step-by-step through this fantastically original and heartwarming work of art by the brilliant Nancy Wethington. But first, here are a few words of introduction from Nancy herself!

NancyW

"I have been doing a craft of one kind or another since I was 16 years old.  Currently retired from the traditional corporate world, I teach at For Keeps Sake Scrapbook in St. Louis MO (Missouri's largest independently owned scrapbook store).  My husband and I have been married for 38 years and have one son, Beau, age 26. My style is eclectic. My passion is designing mini-books with techniques included in all my classes. I absolutely love anything vintage, therefore the Graphic 45 style fits right into my design niche." -Nancy Wethington

When we opened the box, this was what was inside; a beautiful vintage suitcase decorated in Transatlantique. So simple and yet so perfect. But it was what was inside the suitcase that really blew our minds.

NancyWethington01

It became immediately clear that this wasn't just an ordinary suitcase. It told the story of a young girl arriving in America in the early 1900's. All she had was this suitcase to remind her of the life she'd left behind, filled with inspirational notes and objects from her family. Every object in this suitcase had a story to tell. There were old photos, letters from loved ones, and nostalgic keepsakes. Each individual piece worked together within this theme of a young girl embarking on a new journey in life.

NancyWethington02

The level of imagination that it took to dream up this amazing concept was astonishing. Every detail was planned with exquisite cleverness. Looking through the suitcase and exploring its secrets was like stepping into another world. This is the view when the suitcase is first opened. You can see the beautiful box decorated in Transatlantique and the suitcase lined with Trim Staples. You can see all the little hidden notes and envelopes, each containing something special.

NancyWethington03

Once opening the "Enjoy the Journey" box you can see all the letters inside. They all had this wonderful aged quality, as though they really had been written in the early 20th century. Even the handwriting on the letters looked authentic!

This is a perfect example of some of the wonders contained within the suitcase. A sweet note from the girl's mom, written on a recycled piece of Graphic 45 Staples packaging. It's so stunningly creative and achingly beautiful.

NancyWethington09

There were a number of cards inside the suitcase. This is one that Nancy made using Playtimes Past.

NancyWethington05

This is a wonderful Domestic Goddess card that Nancy created. You can also see the wonderful clothes pin on the right that has some Graphic 45 Flower Staples on it. It's all these wonderful details that made this project so remarkable!

NancyWethington06

Here is a fabulous Curtain Call card with some wonderful Chipboard Button Staples. There was no doubt that Nancy went all out when it came to creating this amazing work of art.

NancyWethington07

Nancy even designed this wonderful card using our Deluxe Edition Christmas Past collection.

NancyWethington08

This marvelous Le Cirque layout was also inside the suitcase. Utilizing vintage circus photographs from the early 20th century, Nancy solidified the theme of a young girl with her suitcase of memories.

NancyWethington11

NancyWethington12

Its easy to see why Nancy Wethington was an obvious choice for our new Design Team. Her work displays enormous imagination as well as a deep understanding of the vintage inspiration of Graphic 45 paper. On their own, these pieces are stunning.  But when incorporated into this wonderful, nostalgic theme of the young girl in a new world, they take on a whole new life. It is this emotional element that make crafts unforgettable. It is one thing to create something beautiful, which Nancy has obviously done. It's a whole other thing to create something that has emotional gravity. Nancy's suitcase displays a sincere talent for combining aesthetic beauty with emotional sensitivity. We know she's going to be a fantastic addition to our new team. Be sure to check out her wonderful blog Art From the Heart where you'll see even more examples of her gorgeous work.

Happily Yours,

Team Graphic 45

Warm-Hearted Wishes: A Fond Farewell to Tracey Locher

Hello Wonderful Crafters,

Warm wished to you on this marvelous Tuesday. Thanks for joining us today as we say a fond farewell to another 2010 Design Team member, the amazing Tracey Locher. She has created some stunning crafts for you to enjoy today. We are definitely going to miss Tracey's spirited crafts on our Design Team. As you will see in today's projects, she has a wonderfully imaginative and delightful talent. Her creations are always heart-warming and fun. We will miss her and we thank her for all of her amazing contributions to our 2010 Design Team. But before we say goodbye, lets have a look at Tracey's latest and greatest crafts!

This beautiful layout is a perfect example of Tracey's wonderfully sincere style. She also has such a knack for utilizing open spaces in her work. It is a beautiful contrast against the busier sections of this LO with the gorgeous flowers and embellishments. All together it makes for a wonderful work of art, filled with lovely form and character.

"Sometimes, you just have to throw everything, including the kitchen sink, on a layout!  With as much as I love clean line layouts, “junked up” layouts are soooooo much fun to create.  As my fellow Design Team sister, Gloria Stengel, says, “When you are creating a “junked up” layout, just when you think you are finished, add 5 more embellishments.  THEN you are done!”  I couldn’t agree more, Gloria!  Here, I’ve added flowers and keys and fabric covered chipboard, OH MY!  And one of my favorite accents… an antique Stereoscope photo!" -Tracey Locher

Next we have this amazingly fun Once Upon a Springtime Easter basket that Tracey created. I love this idea! Tracey really went all out with this amazing piece. Everything from the basket to the little gifts inside is decked out in Once Upon a Springtime. Wow!

"The first time that I saw the Once Upon A Springtime line, I just knew I had to create an Easter basket… and I mean the WHOLE Easter basket.  A decoupaged wooden basket, Faberge eggs, Kaleidoscope, clothes for a Barbie Doll, gift box, and paper suckers.  For this project, I used every paper from the “Springtime” line, with the exception of the “frames.”  I hand twisted a copper handle and decorated it with white silk flowers that were also used in Barbie’s hair and as an accent on one of the Faberge eggs.  I also trimmed out the basket with May Arts ribbon and some fun egg accents." -Tracey Locher

She is widely known for her delicate and feminine craft designs. Her gorgeous blog Scraps of Life is a perpetual source of inspiration and craft education for her many fans. In particular, she is known for her stunning cards and mini albums. But anything Gloria creates is guaranteed to be beautiful and immensely motivating. As you will see in the marvelous work she submitted as part of our Design Team call, Gloria is a true professional in her approach to crafting. Gloria Head Shot 2011

"My biggest design team strengths are my creative risk-taking and passion for paper. Since I have dabbled in so many different crafts, it’s natural for me to explore and create with many mediums and products. I am always on the hunt for new ways to create. My motto is “seek out new crafts that you have never done before.” I seem to be the queen of mixing product lines and mediums into my projects, and I guess my style is quite eclectic. I love to create in a Vintage grunge style, using all sorts of lace, ribbons, flowers, and of course vintage pins and buttons. I enjoy the creative process, the discovery, and the “happy accidents” that sometimes arise during crafting time. Having high-quality products and papers to work with makes creating a joy. Ever since I first saw Graphic45 papers I have wanted to be part of this amazing company. I have a list of my "top five" companies whom I'd love to work for. Graphic45 is number one on my list. Last year, when I made the  2010 Team, was one of the happiest days of my life. It was a dream come true!" -Gloria Stengel

Here we have a wonderfully joyful Steampunk Debutant and Once Upon a Springtime layout designed by Gloria. This simple and elegant LO is such a terrific expression of tranquility and beauty.

Feast your eyes on this dazzling Curtain Call mini album/gift card holder, filled with gorgeous layers and textures! She has such a refined sense of placement. Every detail in this gorgeous album is just perfect, as though it could exist no other way. It is wonderfully balanced and deeply captivating. It's the kind of craft that makes you want to rush out and make one of your own! But that's the magic of Gloria's style. It's always so inspiring.

In the Garden of Imagination: Introducing Nicole Eccles

 Hello There Crafters!

Welcome to this awesome Wednesday edition of the Graphic 45 blog. Thanks so much for stopping by and seeing us on this lovely day. We have a whole heap of craft inspiration for you today as we introduce another new member of our 2011 Design Team, the masterful Nicole Eccles! Nicole is a whimsical and inspired crafter with boundless creativity. Her blog Sunny Sky Creations is an intimate and fascinating portrait of an avid artist. She also has an Etsy page where she sells her gorgeous creations. Her style is feminine, delicate, but grounded in wit and an ever-present curiosity. All of these elements work seamlessly with the vintage inspired papers of Graphic 45. Nicole's art hearkens back to the style and sensibilities of times gone by, but with an awesome eccentric twist of a kid that grew up in the 80's. It's a wonderful dynamic of creative forces. We are so happy to introduce you today to the fantastic Nicole Eccles.

   1

"Art is a major driving force in my life, something that has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. . .  from cutting out piles of shrinky dinks as a kid, to drawing, photography and fine arts as I grew.  Art brings me peace within, teaches me patience and focus, an outlet during hardships, and a place to express joy.  A life without art is unimaginable. It wasn't until I was pregnant with my daughter in 2005, that I found scrapbooking.  It was a tough time in my life. I was pregnant and in a very unhealthy relationship.  Scrapbooking gave me something to keep my mind upbeat, to keep me sane -  dreaming of those better days to come and to scrapbook!  Soon after she was born, we made our escape from that life and have never looked back.  Immediately I began working, teaching and designing at local scrapbook stores.  Focusing mainly on layouts and cards, over the years my designs have changed and I find myself drawn more toward mixed media collage and altered art where I can combine my passion for fine art and yummy papers.  Recently, I took the leap and left my job to focus on my art and my Etsy store, Sunny Skye Creations. Working at home is the perfect way to spend more time with Skyler and do what I love at the same time. My designs have a very stylized look. G45 papers seem made for my “artful” expressions.  I love creating scenes and strong images that inspire and excite the eyes and imagination, working in depth, color and texture to create complex looking designs that are truly easy to achieve.  When I am creating, I never really have a project planned.  I look to papers and images and let them be the driving force in my creations.  I try to imagine what the characters could be doing outside of the paper -  an create moods and actions that speak for themselves.  All with an eclectic vintage flair, made even better by Graphic 45 papers." -Nicole Eccles

Here is a super fun Le Cirque shadowbox that Nicole created. You can see the elephant walking the tight rope, while the entire shadowbox looks as though it could take flight. It's so wonderfully creative and clever.

There's an elegant blend of color, form, movement, and texture in this wonderful card. It's just gorgeous!

The Personal Journey of Crafting: Introducing Robin Shakoor

Good Day Crafters!

Happy Friday to you all! Wow, what a week its been! It's been such a blast getting to introduce you to some of our new Design Team members. And the fun isn't over! Today we're going to introduce you to a tremendously talented crafter, Robin Shakoor. But first we want to quickly announce the winner of this week's blog contest! We asked you to leave us a comment telling us about your favorite make and take. We got lots of terrific feedback and we want to thank everyone who left us comments. This week's random winner is Sally Edmonds. Here is what she had to say about her favorite make and take. "My favorite recent make and take was a Copic coloring class. I so enjoyed getting an intense lesson on technique so that I can practice more at home and taking away my practice sheets with new equipment to practice on my own." Sounds like an awesome class! Sally, please email us at info@g45papers.com to claim your prize. Congratulations!

Today we are so happy to introduce you to this wonderful artist, Robin Shakoor from Fredericksburg, Virginia. We had the pleasure of featuring Robin's work on our blog a couple of months ago and she received rave reviews for her gorgeous and heart-warming crafts. Robin has many strengths. One look at her work and you will be instantly inspired by its elegance and romantic charm. But her style is  also deeply heart-felt; overflowing with a sincere love for the subjects of her crafts. It is this brilliant combination of fierce sincerity and impeccable artistic aesthetic that makes Robin's work so phenomenal. I knew from the moment I saw Robin's work that she had a very special talent. Be sure to check out her beautiful blog Designs by Robin Shakoor. We are so happy to welcome to her our new team and to introduce her to you today. Ladies and Gentleman, say hello to the fabulous Robin Shakoor!

Robin

"My name is Robin Shakoor and paper crafting is my passion.  I live in the beautiful State of Virginia with my husband, daughter, one spoiled puppy and three birds.  I am a Human Resources Manager by day and a mad-scrapper by night!I have been an avid crafting enthusiast since February, 2008.  While I enjoy all types of crafting, I would say that I am strongest in the areas of card making and creating scrapbook layouts.  I love all styles of paper crafting but I tend to gravitate towards elegant, romantic and vintage styles.  I enjoy incorporating a blend of these three styles into my projects, creating a visual experience for my readers.  I believe that crafting is a shared experience and teaching others through tips, tricks and tutorials is important to me.  I always try to encourage others to step out and not be afraid to express themselves.  My motto: Crafting is a personal journey and the roads we take along the way are unique and special." -Robin Shakoor

Here is a gorgeous and vivacious Curtain Call card by Robin. It looks like this pretty lady could just dance right off the page! I love the rich layers and textures in this card. There's the beautiful soft feather under the flowing, shiny chipboard, coupled with the smooth Graphic 45 Flower Staples. So wonderful!

Robin01

This beautiful layout is a perfect example of the warmth of Robin's art. Not only is this Steampunk Debutant LO stunning with its decadent colors, elegant textures, and impeccable form, it's also wonderfully heart-warming. The central photo looks as if it was created just to be a part of this work of art. Robin knows exactly how to make the subjects of her crafts come to life with love, admiration, and sophistication.

Robin02

Robin03

This is an altered LP of a Billie Holiday record that Robin created. I remember when this arrived at our offices during our final round for the Design Team call. I was stuck by what an amazing idea it was, first of all. It worked perfectly with our Curtain Call collection which features images of the amazing Ms. Holiday. But this wasn't your usual altered album cover. It combined all the elements of an album, with its album inserts, song lists, and images of the artist. But it also had these wonderful personal captions from Robin herself. This piece is an imaginative middle ground between altered art and layouts. It made this amazing work of art even more personal and profound.

Here is the altered album unveiled in its full glory. Click on the image to see it larger.

The wonderful note here says "Billie's signature was a beautiful gardenia in her hair."

This sweet caption reads "I can just imagine being at this recording session."

Here is the list of Billie's singles. She was such an astonishing singer and had so many fantastic songs.

We want to thank you all for joining us today. And a big thank you to Robin Shakoor for her stunning work. Join us on Monday when we continue our 2011 Design Team introduction. It is not to be missed! Prepare to be wowed! We hope you all have a fantastic weekend. Hopefully you'll find some time to craft up something special.

Happy Papercrafting!

Clever Curiosities: Introducing Jack and Cat Curio

Hello Crafters!

A very happy Tuesday to you all! Welcome to another exciting day here at the Graphic 45 blog. The adventure continues as we introduce you more members of our new 2011 Design Team. Today's artists are so fantastically unique and innovative. Their work is unlike anything we've featured before. We are thrilled to welcome the amazing Jack and Cat Curio from Mesa, Arizona to our team. You might be saying to yourselves, "Jack and Cat? Two people in one Design Team spot?" Yes, indeed, crafters! This dynamic duo of mixed media artists collaborate on all of their projects to create one-of-a-kind works. Take a look at their blog or Etsy page and you'll see the clever imagination that permeates throughout. To gaze at their creations is like stepping into another world; a kind of Tim Burton-esque fairytale, or Art Nouveau with a modern American twist. They love to blend contrasting textures; mixing tattered, rustic surfaces with the sharp and sleek. They utilize deep, soulful colors in their art as well as whimsical, and flowing movement. All of these qualities combine to make a richly haunting and otherworldly body of work. We are so thrilled to introduce you today to the remarkably talented Jack & Cat Curio!

Jack-&-Cat-Curio

"We are a couple that loves to create and work together.  Jack & Cat Curio was created four years ago as an outlet for our passions for design and art. We joke that we are professional gluers but the reality is we are two full time artists that are making a living doing what we love. Our design strength is our desire to create rich and dark pieces that tell a strong story by meshing mixed media and fine art techniques with paper crafting. She is the ring leader to his creative circus." -Jack and Cat Curio

Behold this fantastic Steampunk Debtant shadow box. The ornate metal embellishments, combined with rich layers, and lavish colors makes this piece deeply alluring and original.

You can really see all the amazing layers in this amazing shadow box. Also, I love the metal octopus. It looks amazing against the industrial gears of Steampunk Debutant.

The rich colors and playful images of Le Cirque work perfectly with the unique style of Jack and Car Curio. Here is a card they created with this fabulous new collection. They also incorporated our Metal Hinge Staples and Metal Button Staples into this wonderfully eclectic card. I also love the use of the Barnum's Animal Crackers packaging at the top!

This is an amazing example of Jack and Cat's mixed media skills. Here is a gorgeous On the Boardwalk beeswax collage. This wonderful piece of home decor even smelled amazing when it arrived at our offices; like beeswax candles mixed with cookie dough! Note the stunning metal flowers and aged textures. They really know how to capture an authentic vintage feel in their work!

   BlogPrizeApril11

Today we are so happy to introduce one of the newest members of our 2011 Design Team, the fantastic Sherry Cheever. Sherry already has quite an avid following on her blog, cleverly titled Walkin' on the Bad Side. I came across her work several months ago and knew from the get-go that she was a dedicated and gifted crafter. Her work is not only gorgeous, but she loves to share her techniques with her crafting community. Her blog is loaded with projects, tutorials, detailed project supply lists, blog hops, and a fun-loving spirit. But it's Sherry's crafting style and expertize that make her such a fantastic artist. Her work permeates with a kind of organic wholesomeness. At the same time, she isn't afraid to embrace her "bad" side. Like most great artists,  Sherry is at her best when she is creating. Her love of crafting is obvious when you look at her work, which overflows with imagination and whimsicality. It is our sincere privilege to introduce "her royal badness", the amazing Sherry Cheever.

"I’ve been crafting all my life, starting as a little girl making potholders, painting, knitting, etc., and eventually went on to minor in art while in college.   I seriously started stamping and paper crafting in September of 2005 and soon realized that I had found a creative outlet that let me work with my art background.  After working with a number of whimsical/cutesy images for a number of years, I found that my niche was really altered art and vintage projects, and I started making projects in a style that I love – vintage and/or distressed.  I fell in love with Graphic 45 paper the first year they were at CHA and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.  Since then, Graphic 45 has been a staple in my paper crafting projects.  I love the vintage colors and images used in the paper and I think that I look to it more often than others, because I’m truly an old soul at heart.   I’m at my creative best when I have ink on my fingers and I’m sanding away on a project.  I love taking new things and making them look old and Graphic 45 helps me do that." -Sherry Cheever

Sherry is a wizard when it comes to altered objects. Have a look at this wonderful piece of altered art. Decorated in beautiful Botanicabella paper, Metal Button Staples, and lots of beautiful earthy accents, this amazing piece is a shining example of Sherry's amazing craft aesthetic.

Crafty Innovations: Introducing Laura Denison

Hello Glorious Crafters!

Happy Thursday to all of you! We're so glad you've stopped by today. This week has been such a thrill, getting to introduce you all to our new 2011 Design Team. It's been a lot of hard work but it is so worth it when we see all the unanimously positive comments you've all been leaving on our blog this week. We've been busy at work preparing special Graphic 45 packages to send out to our new team. Our office has been looking like a crafter's paradise, with huge stacks of product overflowing on our desks. Everything is all set to be sent out to our new design team and we are so excited to see what everyone will create!

Today we are so happy to  introduce you to an enormously talented crafter, the fantastic Laura Denison. Laura is widely known in the crafting community as an excellent teacher with her weekly Ustream show as well as her amazing blog The Paper Trail.  Today we're going to show you the crafts that she submitted for the final round of our Design Team call. It will be pretty obvious at first glance why she was an obvious choice for our team. Her work is exquisite; packed full of so many skillfully executed details. She has a deep understanding of color and form. There's a kind of soothing earthiness to her crafts that make them instantly beguiling. At the same time, she isn't afraid to use vibrant colors, rich textures, and complex patterns in her work. It's obvious that she has a refined sense of movement and space and it's what makes her work so hypnotizing. Here's a little more about Laura in her own words.

"I am a married mother of two kids, aged 10 and 12. I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska and have lived in the Seattle area since 1989. I made my first mini album in May of 2009 (it even had Graphic 45 paper in it!) Since then I have made and designed nearly a hundred mini albums. I have become known for my innovative mini album construction techniques. My background in Interior Design and quilting has given me a strong ability to use color, texture and pattern. I like to think outside the box...but I also say "Keep the box and make something out of it!!" I bring a unique viewpoint to all my work. Since that very first mini album, I have been drawn to Graphic 45 paper. I love the imagery, colors and the quality of the papers. I have used nearly every collection in some sort of project or another...and have the ones I haven't used yet in my stash!!" -Laura Denison

Have a look at this outstanding altered clock that Laura created. When this arrived at our offices, we were completely blown away.  It is such a perfect usage of our Once Upon a Springtime papers. This is the kind of project that you look at and instantly smile.

"I am mother to five children and have my own store in Australia. I think my strengths are, my eye for colour and designs that work so well with Graphic 45 paper work. I love looking at the paper and working out creative ways to use the designs in the papers in as many different ways that no one else will think off.  I like making flowers and  frames from the papers, and cutting out the paper elements to create embellishments. I like the photo to be the focus of my work and the papers and elements to stand out . I love off-the-page projects and books." -Jane Tregenza

Here we have a beautiful and adorable layout by Jane featuring our On the Boardwalk collection. One of the things I adore about Jane's art is her obvious deep love for the subjects in her work. Her layout photos capture such beautiful moments and she has an amazing talent for building her art around them. Today's featured member of our new 2011 Design Team is someone who many of you may be familiar with, as she is a frequent poster of her amazing work on our Facebook Fan Page, and blog gallery, as well as an avid supporter of our blog. It makes sense that someone with as much passion and history with our papers would make a fantastic member of our Design Team. But it's not just Tara's passion for crafting that makes her a fantastic artist. She also has an impeccable eye for detail, and her work shines with warmth, playfulness, and curiosity. She isn't afraid to be experimental in her crafts; combining lavish textures and layers to create something quintessentially original. At first glance you can tell that Tara has a deep love for what she does. Her crafts exude a joy and rustic elegance that make them instantly appealing and heart-warming. We are so happy to introduce you to the amazing Tara Orr!

TaraOrr

"Scrapbooking found me through the hundreds of photos I had taken of my kids.  It meshed perfectly with my craving for creativity.  I completed my first layout in the fall of 2008 and have been addicted ever since.  Scrabooking is an escape for me - my down time. It allows me to combine my love of crafting and photography with my artistic nature. I enjoy each and every second of the creative process involved in taking a layout or project from start to finish. My design style gravitates towards rustic vintage/shabby chic with lots of distressing - but I love trying new techniques and am not afraid to step outside my comfort zone to challenge myself.  I am inspired by wonderful photos (of my 3 kids mostly) and awesome patterned papers. Graphic 45 has been my all-time favourite manufacturer for as long as I can remember.  The papers are out of this world amazing with their bold colours and vintage designs.  I adore all the fussy cutting possibilities within the papers - they become the embellishments themselves. They are unique, they are inspiring and they compliment my style wonderfully." -Tara Orr

Here is a beautiful Once Upon a Springtime layout created by Tara. This LO is so elegant. I love how she combined the cherry blossoms from our Primrose Cottage paper with the pretty pink 3-D flowers. Also, the placement in this LO is amazing. It has a beautiful balance of detail and open spaces. It's simply stunning!

A "Clean" Crafter: Introducing Lynette Carroll

Hello Crafters!

Welcome to another fun and exciting week here at the Graphic 45 blog! This week we're going to be introducing you to our new 2011 Design Team. You'll see a few familiar faces, but for the most part you'll be seeing these fabulous crafter's work for the very first time! Over the past few weeks I've had the pleasure of not only seeing these amazing submissions for our Design Team audition, but also photographing each piece. You really see a lot about someones work when you're standing three inches away from it with a camera, holding your breath so as not to blur the photograph. And in many ways, the work speaks for itself. It calls your attention to specific details, as well as the grand image as a whole. Each artist that you will meet over the next several days has their own unique style, and a specialized way of looking at the art of crafting. Some have a soft and sincere sentimentality to their work. Some have a robust and vibrant style. Some are more organic and almost naturalistic. There is such an amazing range of talent as you will soon see. And we are so excited to introduce you to each and every one of these marvelous artists!

Before we make formal introductions, we wanted to announce this week's blog contest. This week you could win this amazing Curtain Call pack of goodies which includes a Curtain Call 12x12 Paper Pad, Trim Staples, Metal Tag Staples, Alphabet Sticker Staples, and Curtain Call Cling Stamps. All you need to do is leave a comment on our blog telling us about one of your favorite Make-And-Take classes that you've attended. What do you like best about Make-And-Takes? Do you have a favorite project that you have created? What gets you excited about attending a Make-And-Take? Tell us your preferences any day this week on our blog and all this could be yours! A winner will be chosen randomly and announced on Friday! Yes!

Prize4:1

Today we are excited to introduce you to Lynette Carroll of Braintree, Massachusettes. Braintree, by the way, is the birth place of the second president of the United States, Mr. John Adams, a brilliant diplomat, statesman, and one of the drafters of the Declaration of Independence. So talent is obviously abundant in Braintree! Here are a few words of introduction from Lynette herself.

Lynette

"I consider myself to be a "clean" crafter and my projects tend to have a "shabby vintage" feel to them.  Because of all my previous design team experience, and the fact that I owned a scrapbook store, I have feel I have strengths in being able to create projects in keeping with my "Style" but using any products I am asked to design with.  I love working with color and I feel confident in my ability to create projects from a single collection or by combining products from more than one collection. I have been fortunate enough to be involved in the scrapbooking industry for the past 10 years.  I was an original Design Team member for K & Company, a position I was fortunate enough to have for 5 years. An important part of my classes, is giving students the confidence and ideas to look at a piece of paper or an embellishment to see how they can change it to "make it their own".  Graphic 45 products offer unlimited possibilities for making your own embellishments and I love that challenge.  To look at a piece of paper and say "what can I do with this that the manufacturer didn't intend for me to do with it", is a favorite line I like to teach in my classes." -Lynette Carroll

Have a look at these stunning projects that Lynette created for our Design Team Call, beginning with this priceless piece of home decor. She used our Once Upon a Springtime collection to create this multi-layered and intricate piece of art.

  LynetteCarroll01

LynetteCarroll02

Behold this amazing Once Upon a Springtime card that Lynette created. She obviously has an amazing knack for creating delicate and whimsical layers in her crafts. I also love the sewing motif in both of these Once Upon a Springtime pieces. So adorable.

LynetteCarroll04

LynetteCarroll05

Here is a Steampunk Debutant layout by Lynette. You can tell that she has a refined and precise eye for placement. There's a lot of details in this LO but it doesn't feel busy. All the elements work together seamlessly. It's just so beautiful!

LynetteCarroll06

  LynetteCarroll08

More information on Lynette Carroll's work can be seen on her amazing and beautiful blog. Be sure to check it out! We want to thank Lynette for her fantastic work. We cant wait to see her next Graphic 45 creations. We hope you will all join us tomorrow for more Deign Team 2011 introductions. And don't forget to leave us blog comments this week about your favorite Make-And-Takes!

Happy Papercrafting!

And the New Graphic 45 Design Team for 2011 is...

Hello Crafters,

A quick announcement. We've had so many amazing applicants to our 2011 Design Team that we've decided to extend our decision-making process for another week.

APRIL FOOLS! Okay, have you all had a good chuckle? We hope so! Let's get down to business!

First off, thank you all for joining us on this very special day. It's been an amazing process of selecting our brand new Design Team for 2011. From our first DT audition announcement, to the picking of our 25 finalists, reviewing their final project submissions, and narrowing it down to the final 13, from start to finish this has been a challenging and immensely enriching experience for all of us here at Graphic 45. Picking our new Design Team was not an easy task. The incredible range of talents, skills, and imagination displayed by all of our finalists was extraordinary. For those of you who who did not make the list, we want to give our deepest and most sincere thank you for all of your hard work and your incredible talents.
