Hidden Journaling with Piradee

As part of the assignment - journaling spot - I created a little flap book on the layout, where I could also include additional pictures and the details of our trip to Halong Bay, Vietnam.  One of the most peaceful and amazing place ever!  I just love this technique as it provides me with more space to play with and still be able to have a lot of white space.

Brad Spotlight

With such fabulous brads to play with, our designers are never at a loss when coming up with extra fun things to do with brads.

Check out the great ideas that Suzanne and Trisha came up with!

Suzanne Sergi: Love Card

MMEbrad.jpeg

Detaillove.jpeg
Featured Collection: Lost & Found

The Lost & Found Collection has beautiful papers to create vintage, and elegant cards for Valentine's Day.  I decided to use brads, in combination with the Lush rhinestones to outline an image. Here the brads form another layer of a heart in the larger one. Brads are fantastic for anchoring elements onto your pages, and for centers of flowers. However, next time you are looking through your stash of brads, see what fun elements you can create! They will add interest, and lots of fun detail on your projects!

Trisha Ladouceur: Miss Mack

Featured Collection: Lush 2 - Orange and Turquoise

I LOVE the new LUSH 2 collection... so fun and vibrant and perfect for using on a snowy day such as today (we have had record snowfall this month in Edmonton,AB)... I was thrilled to break out something this bright! I used my Accu-Cut Grande Mark Machine to cut 2 large scalloped circles and then used my circle cutter to cut the center from one. I added a LUSH2 decorative brad to each scallop to give a bit of visual interest all the way around before popping it up over the full Scalloped Circle. I used the rhinestone brads to add detail to the ribbon borders too. I even incorporated a bit of the light blue from the original LUSH collection to add a "POP" of colour and break up all the orange(Flocked Chipboard Alphabet Stickers, Trims and Self Adhesive Rhinestones). The brads really are the perfect accessory for any scrapbook page.

Hearts-A-Flutter Mantel Decor

Hearts a Flutter mantel decor cu

Hearts a Flutter mantel decor_left Hearts a Flutter mantel decor_heart cu Hearts a Flutter mantel decor_2 banners

Featured Collection: State of the Heart

I’ve been having such a fun time decorating my fireplace mantel lately.  It’s an area in my house I only switched up at Christmas.  Well, I had such a fun time creating the Halloween Mantel Decor, that I have been hooked ever since.

While brainstorming ideas for today’s project, I knew I wanted to use the banner shapes, but didn’t want to actually create a banner.  Then I started thinking of fabric draped over (cascading) over the mantel and thought I might be able to use paper and the banner shapes to create that feeling.  I’m calling this the “Hearts-A-Flutter” decor because when you hold the heart garland, it looks like butterflies fluttering their wings.

Don’t you just love the mix of pinks and reds in the State of the Heart collection?  It was a fun mix for my project.

As always, I have included the instructions which are available to download here: Download 2011_01_18_Hearts a flutter decor

We’ll be uploading the video in the left column as soon as Good Things Utah has it uploaded to their website.

I hope you are having a wonderful week!

December Top Ten

Even though we are half-way through January, it’s still hard to believe that it’s 2011.  We had a fabulous time recognizing the top tens of each month.  We hope you enjoy our December Top Tens!

Piradee Talvanna: Dec. Fav.

dec fav1.1 dec fav4

Featured Collections: Lost & Found - Market Street and Fine and Dandy - Tickled Pink Collections

Description:

December has come and gone in a flash and it's still settling in that it's already 2011, but a few things that I had managed to squeeze in during the month were, a trip to Hanoi and Halong Bay (Vietnam), lunch with my scrapping buddies and celebrating New Years in Singapore (as we count down and watched the fireworks along Marina Bay).

Suzanne Sergi: Perfect 10

MMEPerfect10 MMEperfect10detail

Featured Collection: Holly Jolly

The Holly Jolly Collection is one of my favorite Christmas collections. I love the traditional colors in this line. It was perfect for documenting our "Perfect 10" highlight of Christmas. My oldest daughter's only wish this Christmas was a dog. To humor me, she even wrote a letter to Santa, hoping that this was the year a dog would be delivered. I remember how sad my youngest daughter was last Christmas, when there was not a dog underneath the tree. Well, this year Santa delivered the perfect gift, Sammy! My children were so happy to have this new addition to our family, making it the "perfect 10" memory!

Jana Eubank: Merry Christmas

JanaEubank_DecTop10

Featured Collection: Lost & Found – Union Square and Holly Jolly

One of my favorite things to do while scrapbooking is to combine collections together for an entirely new look. Here I used the Union Square Lost & Found collection as the main components of my page. The red, cream and black colors make a perfect backdrop to mix in a little Holly Jolly. I also added the red cardinal chipboard birds from the I Believe collection. Mixing is the perfect way to get a lot of mileage out of your supplies!

Featured Collection: Lost & Found

I used Lost & Found Market Street to create this card. I love the vintage, and shabby feel to this collection. I stayed pretty close to Anam's lovely sketch. I did make the right border, a little bigger on my design. I inked, and distressed the edges. One  of the elements I loved from MME, are the preprinted titles, and sentiments. This makes the designing process so easy. I pulled in some cream crepe paper to create the "ribbon candy' border underneath my sentiment. Finished the card with a butterfly, and a little bling!!!!

Along with the sketch, you must use this theme:  Winter (whatever winter means to you)

The rules: Use ANY My Mind’s Eye products (current or past) as long as your project has at least 80% My Mind’s Eye products.

The deadline: Email a picture of your project, first and last name to amber@mymindseye.com (with Blog Challenge 19 - layout as your subject) or add a link in a comment on this post by Thursday, January 20, 2011 (midnight, MST).

Featured Collection: Fine and Dandy – Tickled Pink

I really love Anam's Sketch for this month. I loved the white space, and clean lines. I kept pretty true to her sketch to create this page of my daughter, Gabriela. This was her first time to see, or play in the snow! I thought the colors from Fine & Dandy's Tickled Pink, would really make this snapshot pop. I wanted to capture how happy she was packing snow in her hands! Of course, I believe she was making them, to throw them at her brother! I added the swirls from the Die cut Accessory Sheet, and dusted them with a little glitter.I thought this was add some playfulness to my page!
I anchored my title on top of a chipboard frame. I layered the frame with patterned paper, and part of my stamped title.  I finished my embellishing in the left corner with three "snowflakes" embellishments!

Trisha Ladouceur:

IMG_6279 IMG_6275

Featured Collection: Fine and Dandy – True Blue

I used Anam's Layout as a starting point but once I got started, I went off and did my own thing. There are so many layers (not to mention a plethora of Fine and Dandy- True Blue product) to this project and then to top it off, I even used a book page to create a
flap. Because this is a layout of my nephew, I thought I would give this to my sister and so I left space for her to add another photo and her own journaling on the inside:) That is of course assuming I can give it away! Right now I love it so much that I think I may have to keep it for myself (but ssssssssssshhhhhh... don't tell my sister! LOL!)

As always, EVERYONE is a winner!  We love seeing what you create for our challenge and want to thank everyone who will participate.  Every entry will go in a photo album here on the blog.  By submitting, you are giving My Mind’s Eye permission to include your entry.

We can’t wait to see what you design!

Meet Piradee Talvanna

headshot - piradee nikko2

Hi Everyone, Piradee Talvanna here and I'm just thrilled beyond to be given this opportunity to guest design for MME this month. A big thank you and I couldn't have asked for anything more perfect to kick start the year!!!  Happy New Year 2011 everyone!!!

I'm currently living in Singapore with my (super supportive) hubby for the last 2.5 years since we both relocated here for work (I'm originally from Bangkok, Thailand). I would say that I have always been a crafty person, always trying to find things create - from cross stitching, painting and even jewelry creation.  But I became addicted to scrapbooking when I moved to Singapore and fell in love with all the yummy goodies at my LSS. I can still remember that day... I was a like a little kid in a candy store, going oooh and ahhh and guess what, I still am!  Also I've discovered that this hobby is the perfect outlet to let my creativity and imagination run wild and especially helps me in de-stressing after a long day of work as I drown myself in all the yummy scrapping goodies.
