Danni's Cards

Good Morning,  Danni  here with my first "official" post for MME.
I wanted to thank you, ALL, for your incredibly sweet notes and encouragement.
I can not express, with mere words,  how you have touched my heart, thank you, thank you!
I would like to share with you some of the close-ups of the cards, individually, and share a quick and easy tutorial for the burlap heart used on one of the cards.
On the Sunny Side is such a fun new line filled with gorgeous blues, reds, oranges and the cuuuutest layered stickers and chipboard embellies.  I had so much fun dressing up the chipboard and layered embellies and it will be so much fun for summer.  I have a ton of ideas for this line and know you will too, it's happy, it's summery, it's perfect?
hello sunshine card
(how cute is the expression on the sun's face?)
To begin creating this card, I punched 12 circles and adhered them using 3-D tape.  I stitched the sun's rays and punched a little heart and adhered.
summer card
I love the little bike basket, so many things could "peek out" of it.

summertime and the living is easy card

Creating "moving cards", "welcome to the neighborhood cards", "miss you cards" etc. will be quick, fun and easy with these layered stickers.
I chose to create this sentiment on the computer so that I could use this for a summery any-occasion card.
(love the brads in this line, they are so, so cute)

For this assortment of cards I chose to work with the Indie Chic Nutmeg papers and embellies.  This is "technically" a more masculine line with the embellies and such, but I loved the colors too much to stick with a masculine theme and decided to create feminine-themed cards.
happy mother's day card
 love to travel card
I use my Silhouette Cameo a lot and will share which cut-files I use on my blog with my posts for MME.  Using the Cameo, I cut the circle background, adhering the pp and burlap behind the circles.

   love card

I created a quick tutorial on how to create the burlap heart (thank you for your very sweet notes about this embellie)

If you would like to see more steps layering this burlap heart, I will have a new card  and the second half of this tutorial up on my blog today.  If you have any questions about any of my tutorials, please don't hesitate to leave me a comment and I'll answer it to the best of my ability.
Again, thank you with ALL for your incredibly warm welcome and the sweetest of notes.  I look forward to creating with all of you!Danni-signature-copy.jpg

Some Exciting News

Today we are thrilled to announce that we have added two more designers to the MME team!

Please help us extend a warm welcome to Danni Reid and Tina Walker.

First up is Danni Reid. Danni caught our eye because of her amazingly beautiful cards. She really makes MME shine and we are over the moon to have a card designer on our team!

Danni avatarHello! I am Danni Reid.  I live in N. California with my hubby (my best friend) and 4 babes.  I am a SAHM and when not bathing dishes, dancing with the vacuum and tackling laundry I can be found driving the kids to their many extracurricular activities.  My hubby is a school administrator and we stay very busy with school functions, events and of course cheering on all the kids.

I began creating cards 18 years ago (with the original stamp pads, markers and whatever paper I could find to pretty them up).  I have since joined several amazing teams, met so many incredible ladies from all over the world and been blessed to be inspired/create with some of the most wonderful friends.

I am beyond thrilled and honored to be joining the My Mind’s Eye team.  I feel truly blessed for this opportunity and to be able to get to know and create with all of you.

Danni created some stunning cards for us. Be on the lookout for closeups and details soon...these deserve a post all of their own. :)

Up next is the fantastic Tina Walker. Tina stood out to us because it's clear she loves MME and enjoys using our paper and embellishments in a multitude of playful and creative ways.IMG_9734-1aHello! My name is Tina Walker. I have been crafty since I was a little girl.  I have my grandma to thank for that! Just like you, I am completely obsessed with scrapbooking and mixed media projects. I love embracing all types of styles, designs, and techniques.

My design style includes a little of this and a little of that. Someone once described my style as a "chameleon" style and I like that definition. I like creating artsy, grungy projects on one day, but then simple, clean layouts the next. I also like to 'cluster' items together on a page and love to stitch things in place.

What other talents do I possess?  Well, I'm not sure you would call it a talent, but I love to take pictures of totally random objects.  Since my kids are grown, I have to get creative on what I scrapbook about, so I will often create projects around every day things, such a traffic lights, signs, produce, sewing machines, etc.
My '4-legged children' are also the subject of many of my layouts. I would like to thank My Mind's Eye for this tremendous opportunity.  I am so excited to be part of this team and I look forward to days full of creating!
And here is Tina's very first "official' MME layout:
And one more...a past layout from her blog that really caught our eye:IMG_9085
Tina and Danni- welcome to the team, we can't wait to see what the future holds!

Indie Chic Ginger by Stephanie

Happy Thursday MME fans, Stephanie here again! So glad you stopped by today! I hope you've been enjoying "Indie Chic Week"...I know I have!

I'm back today to share a layout I made using Indie Chic- specifically the Ginger color scheme.

I've noticed a lot of comments about how the Ginger and Saffron color schemes are great for girl layouts and how the Citron and Nutmeg color schemes are perfect for boy layouts.

I thought I'd use Ginger to make a masculine layout to show that the products can go either way. :)

The dimensions of the layout are 8 1/2 by 11:

Supplies: Indie Chic-Ginger:6x6 paper pad,border stickers,layered chipboard,label stickers,twine,brads,Brocade patterned paper,Tulips patterned paper,misc: American Crafts thickers,American Crafts precision pen,scissors,adhesive

I cut the Brocade patterned paper into strips and cut the strips into arrow shapes.Underneath the arrow shapes I used a banner from the border sticker sheet.

I also used the twine in two places to symbolize yellow ribbon, as my husband is deployed.

The chipboard accent (the journey with you is worth every step) is the perfect sentiment for this page. I couldn't have possibly put how i feel into words any better than that!

One last thing- the very top "arrow" is actually a label. I trimmed the end into a point.

That's it for today- I hope your day is beautiful and blessed!

Indie Chic Nutmeg by Jana

Hey friends! It's Jana again...and I'm back with some more Indie Chic projects. This time I'm using the Nutmeg color scheme!

Supplies:kraft cardstock;Indie Chic-Nutmeg:'Memories' Tapestry patterned paper,Rose Patch patterned paper;'Boy' Southwest patterned paper,Checker patterned paper,brads;'History" Blooms patterned paper;6x6 paper pad;Family' journal card;'Hanging Out' stamps;misc-American Crafts letter stickers,teal ink,brown distressing ink,circle punches,circle cutter,trimmer,scissors,adhesives

On this layout I used the "Hanging Out" Stamps to create my own page accents. I stamped the border piece onto kraft cardstock.

Using the same ink, I created the circle accents by stamping them onto one of the 6 x 6 mini papers. I also accented the journal block with the compass and date stamp. I love the way it turned out!

I also whipped up a card:

Supplies: kraft cardstock;Indie Chic-Nutmeg:6x6 paper pad, 'Family' buttons,'Hanging Out' stamps,'History' wood frame,'Memories' twine;12 Days of Christmas-12 days rhinestones;misc:white photo corners,teal stamping ink,brown distressing ink,trimmer,scissors,adhesives

I love the look of a hand-pieced picnic quilt and used that as an inspiration for this fun card . . . a perfect way to use up those scraps!

Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by today!

Indie Chic Saffron with Stephanie

Hey y'all!

It's Stephanie and I'm here to share a layout I made using the Indie Chic Saffron color scheme.

While i LOVE MME papers (their texture and weight is beautiful) my favorite MME items to scrap with are embellishments.

I feel like My Mind's Eye keeps coming up with fun, whimsical, and stylish embellishments...all without seeming trendy at ALL. They are timeless. So that means I never have a hard time using them!

Supplies- Indie Chic: Saffron-pearl decor,layered chipboard stickers,decorative buttons,border stickers,layered stickers,garland,decorative stickers,'Girl'Primrose patterned paper,'Create'Lattice patterned paper,'Birds'Batik patterned paper;misc-American Crafts precision pen,American Crafts thickers, adhesive

I tend to cluster MME embellishments on my page for maximum impact. Here I used chipboard elements, pearls, layered stickers, buttons, and banners to represent the happiness and joy my daughter brings me.

Thanks for stopping by, have a beautiful and blessed Tuesday!

Indie Chic Citron with Jana

Happy Monday to you! This is Jana and I am here to share a few Indie Chic projects with you. Today I'm using the Citron color scheme exclusively.

First is a 12x12 layout:

JanaEubank_MME_Labadee1Supplies: white and kraft cardstock;Indie Chic :"Citron"-'Party' Lovely and Tangerine patterned papers,'Time' Honeydew and Festive patterned papers,6x6 paper pad,'Grow' brads and border stickers,'What a Day' decorative stickers and buttons,'Party' label stickers and journaling card,'Time' title, layered sitckers, trim, wood label; So Sophie: best thing title. misc: twine, sewing machine and thread, brown distressing ink, trimmer and scissors, adhesives,K and Co. letter stickers

I love using the die cut titles to layer with other page elements. They make the perfect frames for titles and accents!

I also used the Citron color scheme to make this happy card. The design was inspired  by the saying on the chipboard accent.

I decided to handcut my own flower shapes from the 6 x 6 paper pad. The designs on these papers are the perfect scale for smaller designs! They look so fun and playful layered together with the Indie Chic "What a Day" Buttons.

Supplies: kraft cardstock;Indie Chic-"Citron":6x6 paper pad,'What a Day' buttons,'Measure' layered chipboard;misc:needle and floss,martha stewart fringe scissors,cuttlebug machine and embossing folder,brown distressing ink,trimmer and scissors,adhesives

I have one last Citron project to share today- a special gift box.

This would make the perfect box to hold some goodies for dad on Father's Day.
I wanted a square accent for the front of my box, so I gently pulled apart one of the layered stickers and reassembled it so that it was going the direction that would work better for my design.
In the process, I layered it together with patterned papers from the 6 x 6 paper pad to make it even more dimensional.
To add a bit of interest to the sides of the box, I used a star punch to cut "windows" in the patterned paper border strip.
To top it all off, I tied the box closed using a length of Follow Your Heart kraft twine and a chipboard element from the Indie Chic Citron collection.

Supplies:Indie Chic: "Citron"-'Measure' Pizazz Paper(2 sheets),'Time" Honeydew and Festive patterned papers, 6 x 6 Paper Pad,'Measure' layered chipboard,'Time' layered stickers, 'What a Day'buttons;Follow Your Heart:'Be Happy'twine;misc:Cricut and cartridge,Stampin Up! star punch,brown distressing ink,trimmer and scissors,adhesives

Have a great day!

April Sketch Challenge

Time to reveal the April sketches! The original plan was to just post these as inspiration, but instead let's make it a challenge. Many of you said on Facebook that you'd like to see a challenge we might as well start this month!

Thanks to the wonderful Anam for these sketches, as always they are just fabulous!

Here is the April layout sketch:

And a little inspiration from Anam:

Mme2012_layout_21_rockstarSupplies- Follow Your Heart:Be Amazing Geo Star patterned paper, Kraft Unique patterned paper, Honey Blue patterned paper,Soulful patterned paper, adhesive jewels, metal bookmarks, die cut chipboard, photo overlays

And one from Karen:

Next up is the April card sketch:

And two examples by Anam:

Supplies-Miss Caroline:Dilly Dally 6x6 Paper Pack and  Dilly Dally Layered Cardstock Stickers; Follow Your Heart:Adhesive Jewels

Supplies-Miss Caroline: Dolled Up 6x6 Paper Pack,Howdy Doody Layered Cardstock Stickers

Now it's your turn! Link us up to a layout or card you've done using our April sketches, and you will enter your name for a chance to win a 6x6 paper pad of your choice!

Share the link in the comments by the last day of April and a random winner will be announced along with the first May challenge.

The rules:

1. Flip it, change it, do what you'd like. But we need to be able to see that you used the sketch as a starting point.

2. The layout or card must look like it is a MME layout. I'm not going to give you a percentage here (I mean, how does that even work anyway?Ha!). Let's just say to use your judgement. :)

3. Must be posted in comments by April 30.

Have fun!!!

On the Sunny Side with Suzanne

Happy Tuesday! This is Suzanne, and I'm here to share a brand new layout I made using On the Sunny Side!

The bright, and happy colors of On the Sunny Side are my favorite colors when creating a page.Believe it or not, this photo of my daughter was taken in the fall, but because I live in sunny California, it is sunny almost all year long!

The beautiful weather inspired me to document these photos of Gabi getting ready for her tennis lessons.
supply list:On the Sunny Side: Flutter Paper,Sweet Chevron Paper,Simple Stripe Paper,The Sweet Life Paper,Decorative Brads,Layered Stickers,6x6 Paper Pad,Accessory Sheet,Chipboard Elemants;Kraft Funday:Happy Days Twine

What I love most about MME are the various embellishments that are included in this collection. Having everything in front of me helps to pull the elements together.

I used the banner chipboard shapes as the rays for my sun. I love these trendy shapes! I also used the oval chipboard shape as the title for my page.
Using elements from the brads, layered stickers, and accessory sheet, I was able to add a few fun details to this sunny page!

Hoping your day is sunny and bright!

Share Your Wealth by Anam

In our culture, Friday the 13th is a date with Karma attached to it. A day when good Karma or Bad will come your way based on your actions.

To avoid any bad karma, we pay it forward by sharing what we have – be it goods, foods or actual money. We’ve had parties to share food or given away clothes we’ve outgrown.

We often try to share what little we have to help others realize their dreams and one of the ways we do that is through Kickstarter which is a US based crowd funding platform where a little goes a long way. It is full of Geek Nerd love which is a bonus for our family. In my opinion, making something positive out of a negatively viewed thing is always good!

Here's a layout about how we celebrate Friday the 13th:

Supply List: Miss Caroline - ‘DillyDally’ – “Celebrate”: Token Paper (front & reverse);Miss Caroline - ‘Dolled Up’ – “Living”: Blooms Paper (reverse);Follow your Heart – ‘Be Amazing’ – “Emphemera” Paper (reverse);Follow your Heart – ‘Be Amazing’ – “Wander” Paper (front);Miss Caroline - ‘FiddleSticks’ – “Home”: Diecut Title;Miss Caroline - ‘DillyDally’ – “Hello”:  Rubons;Miss Caroline - ‘DillyDally’ – “Adventures”: Sticker Tags;Miss Caroline - ‘DillyDally’ – “Curious”: Layered Cardstock Stickers;Miss Caroline - ‘DillyDally’ – “Celebrate”: Brads;Follow your Heart – ‘Be Amazing’ – Chipboard DieCuts;Follow your Heart – ‘Be Amazing’ – Metal Bookmarks; (Photo is of products)

Journaling:“For us, we make sure we celebrate on Friday the 13th by sharing our wealth, even as small as we have, because by sharing what we have means we avoid any bad luck. Kickstarter is one of our favourite ways to share and keeps our geeky nerd side happy while making other’s dreams come true. These gaming terrain pieces were one of the first projects we were part of. It is amazing to see the end results of us sparing our ten or twenty pounds with others”

I used most of the embellishments as they came except I made a new word from one of the layered cardstock stickers – I changed “friend” into “nerd” because it worked for my layout – remember to always looks outside the box with your supplies for those hidden gems.

Another tip is to cut your paper to emphasize any images or sayings on it – one of our favorites is the JRR Tolkien one on this sheet.

Hope you've enjoyed my perspective on this day and how we celebrate it!

I Spy With My Mind's Eye

IspywithmmeToday on the MME blog marks the debut of a fun monthly post we'll be doing...I Spy With My Mind's Eye.

We will be perusing online galleries and blogs for standout layouts, cards, and projects using our products.

If we select your project, we will contact you and ask permission to share what you've made, along with a description and a link to your blog.

So please...make sure to share your MME creations regularly!

This month we have four layouts to share with you!

Up first is this darling page by Jen Chapin.

Lovely day (2)

Jen says:

This page was one of the rare times I scrapbooked photos the same day I took them -- we had such a fun day together as a family and I wanted to get those memories recorded while they were fresh.

I thought the design of this Follow Your Heart: Be Happy  patterned paper was perfect to insert a few Instagram photos along with patterned papers and a title into the Polaroid-type spaces.

Jen, thank you so much for sharing! We think your page is just beautiful and we love the way it showcases our papers, buttons, and  chipboard pieces!

Up next is a layout from Leah Cameron.

Oh so sweet_1

Here are a few words from Leah about this creative page:

When I saw this sketch from Crafty Sketches I knew the gorgeous Miss Caroline papers I had just received in my March My Scrapbook Nook kit would be perfect.

I printed out photos of my youngest daughter Alexa from every year on her birthday to “peg” on the banners.  This layout was perfect to make use of little scraps, flags, banners and other embellishments.  Although I wouldn’t call this my usual kind of layout, I just love the way it turned out.

We love the way it turned out too, Leah! Thank you so much for making our products shine!

And now we have an 8 1/2 by 11 scrapbook page by Ginny Hughes:

DSCN1187 (935x1200)

As much as I always love My Mind's Eye papers, the Follow Your Heart collection just blew me away! I love the Honey Blue paper, I cut out some of the hexagons and popped them up to give them some dimension.

The Soulful paper with the tiny hexagons is my new favorite staple. It is a great basic background with a little oomph to it!!  I need like a million and one more pieces of that paper :).

Ginny- this is just stunning. Thank you so much for making our papers pop!

And last (but certainly not least) is a layout by Aleksandra Gadji.

Alex says:

If you look at the design of my layout it is pretty clean and simple, but I love to jazz things up with fun little details. I love wooden die cuts from the adorable Miss Caroline line.

Here I have altered the wooden butterfly with a rub-on and then used it to highlight my title. I also LOVE using the bottom strips from MME papers. They are perfect for adding that special little touch a layout needs!

Alex, we are blown away by the cheerful way you showcased our products. Thank you!

That's it for this month's I Spy With My Mind's Eye! Remember to share your projects with us. You can always link them on Facebook or in the comment section of these posts! As always, thanks for inspiring us with your boundless creativity!

April Challenge

Happy Monday everyone!

It's time for our April Challenge. We are mixing things up a bit. Challenges won't be based on a sketch every month. Sometimes they will be, sometimes they won't. Not to worry! We will be keeping things exciting with a mixture of old and new.

We have also heard that you all enjoy challenges and wish you could see more of them, so starting in May we will be posting challenges bi-weekly!

This month's challenge is posted a bit late (a week late, actually) due to the special festivites last week.

So what is the challenge?

We want to see your hexagons! That's right...hexagons. Those cute little six-sided shapes have been everywhere lately. You can find plenty of them in our Follow Your Heart collection!

So this month we want you to share any project (card, layout, altered item) that displays hexagons.

Here's what two of our designers came up with...

By Jana Eubank Supplies: Follow Your Heart "Be Amazing": Honey Blue paper,Be the Best paper ,Blue Doily paper,Geo Star paper,12 x 12 Chipboard,Button Card,Stamps; Lime Twist:Out of the Blue "Playful" Alphabet ;Kraft Cardstock,Dark Yellow Spray Mist,Gray Stamping Ink,Dark Brown Distress Ink,Black Journaling Pen,Needle and white embroidery floss,Paper Piercer, Trimmer,Adhesives

By Anam Stubbington Supplies:On the Bright Side “One” Paper Pack: Orange Wood paper, Yellow Chevron paper, Floral paper, ‘Polka’,Die-Cuts; Miss Caroline “Howdy Doody”: Buttons (Wood Flower); Miss Caroline “Fiddlesticks”: Buttons (Wood Round); Miss CarolineDilly Dally”: Buttons (Epoxy Round),Brads and Tags (Genuine Tag); Follow Your Heart “Be Amazing”: Twine, yellow sharpie, foam adhesive, distress tool

Are you all itching to use hexagons now? Good... it's your turn! Here are the rules.

1.Your project must look like a MME layout. Previous challenges have required you to use  80% MME and that's a good number to keep in mind. That means that if we look at your project, we will note that it uses mostly My Mind's Eye products. New,old...doesn't matter!

2. Your project must have hexagons prominently displayed. We shouldn't have to go searching for them. :)

All entries must be linked here (in the comments) by Friday, April 27- midnight EST. Make sure that the link you leave in the comments works. It can lead to an online gallery, Flickr, your blog, etc.

What's the prize? Any collection-your choice!!

A winner will be announced when the May challenge goes up.
