Daniela Dobson created this tag and holder using a ton of her Prima scraps and a recycled tiny paper bag!
You don't have to use Halloween themed paper to make Halloween projects. Daniela used Paisley Road papers that had the Halloween colors she was looking for. She die-cut a 1 1/2 inch circle for the moon and drew the bat by hand. The felt DeVine stem added to the Halloween theme.
Check out the use of a felt DeVine as her scary tree! So simple and so perfect!
Before we start our Banner feature we have a request for you!
Each month we pick a fabulous Reader's Find from our gallery...well we have a brand-new site and the gallery is not up and running yet...SO...if you have a stunning Prima-based project that you would love the world to see please send a photo (or two) to email@example.com. Please put November Newsletter Project in the subject. Thank you!
Leaves create the perfect banner shape as shown on this gorgeous card by Nic Howard! Adhere your leaves and add a row of dimensional dots across the top for a "string" effect. Add your sentiment and a cluster of flowers, and don't forget a few gems and lace to finish!
841638 Jack and Jill Green Fields
841652 Jack and Jill Daydreamer
537753 Athena flowers
540463 Rose leaves
812041 Whispered Words Alphas
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Black Gold, Tuscan Sun & Tutti Frutti
This Happy Home Banner Frame was a wooden frame that Daniela Dobson covered with paper. What a fun way to alter a frame and turn it in to a fabulous home decor piece! Simply replace the middle "photo" section with product packaging and adhere trim on the inside. Journaling stickers added to the banner draw your eye across the project for extra fun.
Daniela also creatively uses one of our floral jewelry necklaces!
Liana Suwandi brings us a PERFECT fall banner to hang up during these chillier days! Just cut your pendant shapes...string them on some gorgeous Prima lace and add your decorations! Can you see this hanging from a mantle? Or a window? There are so many fabulous uses for BANNERS!
Liana Suwandi also uses a banner for her title on this super sweet FALL page! See how playful and free-flowing the title is? Add a journaling card and a few well-chosen accents to finish off the layout Prima-style!
Tip: Add Stickles to the outside of each triangle to draw your eye to the banner!
Love Liana's Fall banner on her layout above? We love how she took the same banner idea and used it on this richly-toned card. Now that's being resourceful! (Green Tip: check out her use of packaging too!)
We hope you have found the design team's projects fun AND inspiring! Please feel free to share your banner projects done up "Prima-style" with us on Facebook! Just look for "Prima Marketing Flowers" and click "LIKE".
Hi! My name is Alyssa McGrew, and I am so excited to have this opportunity to tell you more about myself and my personal quirks.
For starters, I am a stay-at-home mom living in central Indiana. Prior to having children I worked for AIG and enjoyed the corporate world very much, so this has been a big change for me. I have found, however, that I really enjoy being at home and spending the days watching my children grow and learn.
My oldest, Milena, is in Kindergarten and is homeschooled; and my youngest, Elijah, is in preschool. They keep life busy, and give me many moments to scrapbook. Without them, I would have to search much harder for great photos and layout inspiration!
Capturing Fall Journal
This fall is an interesting time in our lives, with school starting, our family launching 2 new small businesses, and our youngest moving fully from the "baby" stage to the "kid" stage. I am dreaming of leaving the diaper bag at home permanently and moving into a new stage in life. I created this altered notebook as an art journal/photo record/scrapbook about this fall season and what it means to our family. So far the inside is empty, but I am taking the photos and planning the pages as we speak!
This layout uses the boy side of the So Cute line, and features a photo of my son. He was intently watching a television program, and not a kids program either. It was a show on Food Network about how things are made, and he was so focused and intent! I just love watching his young mind absorbing information.
This layout is about the first trip we took in my new car (yes, it is GOLD!) We went to see Grandma and Grandpa and attend a family reunion. While we were waiting for my husband to purchase the necessary travel beverages (we are a family of beverage lovers... all of us have a drink in hand most of the day), I snapped a few photos of the car and the kids. The Road Trip Collection was perfect for these photos.
My final project to share with you is all about a subject near and dear to me (and probably you as well): Art! Growing up I did poorly in art class, and didn't feel I had a creative bone in my body. Scrapbooking has been the activity that took me totally by surprise and has given me an artistic outlet that I never expected to have.
I made this little book out of the Fairy Flora Chipboard and added a series of some of my favorite quotes about my newest passion: Art!

Well, Prima recently released a gorgeous set of Floral Jewelry Necklaces that can be worn as is...or altered to customize it to fit YOUR needs! Our design team has created some very cute and creative projects using our floral jewelry. We hope you find something that you LOVE!
Cari Fennell took one of our necklaces and then added a few special flowers to create this beauty. See how easy it is to customize one for a boutique effect?
Birgit Koopsentook a ready-made Prima necklace and added it to a headband for her absolutely adorable daughter! How sweet is that idea? (And it is very economical when comparing Prima's necklace price to ready-made floral headbands out on the market.)
Stacy Cohen added an altered necklace to her tank neckline! This easy clip-on/clip-off accessory is perfect for any seasonal top! Stacy first colored the white flowers with alcohol inks by Ranger and then added other flowers to fill it in and make it a showstopper. (Try adhering the flowers to the tank with Velcro for a fast and simple solution that allows you to switch out flowers as you wish.)
Trina McCluneadded a floral necklace to her absolutely stunning layout. She first cut the necklace in half, added a different flower to the center and then adhered everything to the layout as shown. Stitch the ribbon ties in place for sweet movement on your page.
Anabelle also created this GORGEOUS all-white gift bag for a wedding! (This would work just as well for a first communion or baptism.) The nexklace adds a stunning touch that you just cannot find out on the market.
Don't we have the cutest little models ever here at Prima? Alyssa McGrew has her gorgeous daughter showing off a colored necklace/headband she altered for her. What's cool is that her sweet daughter can wear this as a necklace OR tie it up in her hair as a headband too.
Alyssa colored the flowers with a variety of art mediums:
Paint with Tattered Angels Glaze: Wicked, Waterfall, Emerald Cove. Then add Stickles (clear), and use Copic BG05 on some of the edges. Then mist with TA Glimmer Mist Marshmallow.
I used to look at Mondays like Garfield the cat does. Let's just say he isn't very cheerful about this particular day of the week!
However, I have come to TOLERATE Mondays. I do feel so much more refreshed after a great week-end. Well, this past week-end was extra fun as my sweet daughter, Brittany, turned 21! Now, how in the world did that happen? (When people say kids grow up too fast they really do know what they are talking about.) Here she is on her birthday!
Brittany used to be on Prima's team when she was a wee squirt! Since then she has grown up and is a junior in college majoring in Graphic Design. (She still dabbles in scrapbooking and does our Hybrid feature in our FAB monthly newsletter!) You have got to download this month's freebie that Britt created and play along with me.
Each hybrid design is created just for you! Once you save it on your computer you can print it out as many times as you wish. Brittany created these two projects with her digital elements:
(Using the pumpkin card option Britt created a fun card with touches of divine texture! )
(Using the tag option Britt printed the pumpkin on our Annalee patterned paper for extra dimension, then decorated it with a Pearl swirl and a piece of our felt devine.)
Well, I am going to take this tag download and show you another way to use it for fast and easy TREATS for Halloween.
Prima pumpkin tag print-outs
clear treat bags (I used Wilton party bags)
candy corn (or any other candy that survives in the house long enough to be bagged!)
curly ribbon (to tie bags shut)
crepe paper (for decoration, optional)
First fill your bag with candy and tie it shut with the curly ribbon. Add a crepe paper bow if desired, or just leave the curly ribbon a bit longer.
After cutting out your tags (with a plain scissors as shown OR a pinking shears for extra fun) you will need the following Prima products to decorate it with style:
Sugarplum Roses in Chestnut-543716 (you could really use any small Prima flower for these)
Say It In Crystals swirl-535841 (we will cut these apart so one swirl will decorate 3-4 bags)
Add part of a crystal swirl using the swirl on the tag as a guide.
Cut the felt devines apart for the pumpkin's "stem and leaves"
Now grab a few other supplies to kick these tags up a notch!
Black Distress Ink
Pumpkin Spice Glimmer Mist
Cut off the clear bag tops with the pinking shears.
Add a flower to the tag and ink the edges with black ink.
Adhere the tag to the front of your treat bag with a glue dot.
OR add a touch of Silver Stickles to the flower for a sparkly option!
OR spray your flower with a little Pumpkin Spice Glimmer Mist for more intense color and a touch of glimmer!
What you have are stunning treat bags perfect for handing out to co-workers, neighbors, your kid's teachers or friends! These really are fun and FAST to make. Get the kids involved and have a grand ole time together cranking these sweet treats out together! And do it today to make your MONDAY even sweeter!
September's sketch was so much fun! We had a ton of entries which showed how versatile thisBuild-A-Page really is.
First off congrats to our (always-VERY-hard-to-choose) winner:
Anna colored her Paisley Road paper (841676-how absolutely creative is that? It's like getting two papers in one.) to set the tone for this vibrant layout! (So creative and so stinking cute.) Her adorable photo, use of packaging, and wise accent choices make this an all-around FAB winner!
Anna-please email to claim your prize within 7 days: firstname.lastname@example.org

Today is Designer Day on the blog and we are very excited to introduce one of our fabulous ladies to you! Karola Witczak does absolutely STUNNING work that is light and airy and so beautiful with a shabby-chic touch. We hope you enjoy getting to know her a bit better!
Hi everyone, Karola here with a few words about Karola's world.
What is my world? Very chaotic, but full of happiness and positive emotions! I begin with where I am from and what I do - because it makes me just as I am.
I live in Poland, in the western part of the country, near the border with Germany, together with my husband, who's name is Martin and our six-year-old daughter Rose. Psst! I have to admit it, but do not tell anyone - once - for the first time I decided to write their names in English in the on-line world, because they are easier to remember and associate, really is Marcin and Róza.
Our daughter Rose is our proud and perfect happiness - she gives us so much joy and inspirationevery day, because both me and Martin are freelancers, he is musician and sound engineer, I am scrapbooking designer and instructor and I think thanks to this we can provide our daughter with a lot of creative ideas and show the world from another interesting perspective.
Who I am? Well, wait for a minute ...
I'm a girl fromPoland - country of many cultures and traditions, cheerful, brave people, who are famous worldwide for their warmth and kindness. This is country with a long and interesting history but also with many wonderful and talented scrappers! I am sure that at least some of them you know very well, I'm proud for my Polish girls so much!
Love my hometown calledGorzow Wielkopolski, I grew up here, went to school here, but when I became an adult - I left the city in search of happiness and my own place on the earth. I looked for this for a few years, in the meantime I found my love, but my happy place on earth only a year ago. We decided to settle in my hometown, and this return after years was for me a wonderful event. The city has changed so much over the years - grow up and become a modern, dynamic city with the fullness of its unique charm, which favors the development of any artistic soul. I am proud of the many local cultural initiatives, which we try to attend as often as possible. I am proud of our local sporting events, our city is famous for several Olympic medalists and theSpeedwayat the highest level! I am very proud that I came back here and again I'm proud of my not-so-big-but-totally-gorgeous town.
And here's our family:
What else can I say about myself? I'm full of contradictions - a little quiet, a little crazy, always under control and calm, too often too shy, but always friendly, kind girl, despite the fact that every day I live in total chaos - work, home, family - everything has its place and time, but to reconcile the many things it is not always easy. But I try to, because when so much is happening - I feel I'm alive and I feel a lot of positive vibes! When I do not create another layout or cards - I love to read books and I'm a big fan of Harlan Coben. I love the series House MD and 6 Feet Under, I'm addicted to music (jazz, soul, bossa nova, blues ...) and often listen to live music, and one of my biggest dreams is to travel to New Orleans:))
Phew, so much I wrote about myself, so let's get to scrapbooking. You know perfectly well that I'm known as a pastel girl, though I try to fight it and make a new color combos for my projects. Today I would like to show you some of my new projects, which - as I believe are specific to my style (but still do not know what a style!):
Canvas sheet wall/door hanging:
To create this wall hanging I used one of the sheets from a Donna Downey canvas album. I painted it white and blue paint, I added some of my favorite Jack and Jill collection and beautiful flowers from the Orchard Mix line. This is a simple recipe to create something in the style of shabby chic - very easy and fast!
Once I decided to create a form of escape from everyday life, other hobby to relax from scrapbooking (I know it's strange that one of us wants a break from scrapbooking!) Ceramics and pottery delighted me , I went to a few classes, made a few things, but unfortunately I did not have too much time lately. I still believe I will soon be able to come back to ceramics, I would like very much! The pictures show me when I make my first ceramic bowl:) As the bowl was very soft and had a lacy pattern - the Annalee collection was entirely appropriate to this LO!
Someone who knows me even slightly, knows that I love the cards in unusual shapes and from time to time I try to create another card in an interesting shape. When I create a card - I like to think a little outside the box. Most of these unusual shapes draw by myself - it's so easy to draw a pattern and cut with normal scissors - a great idea for both beginners and professional cardmakers!
This time I have Autumn Tree card, and especially for you I created a template - I hope it proves useful! Prima Autumn Leaves and gorgeous flowers in fall color combo has created an interesting very dimensional effect! It does not matter that this card will not fit in an normal envelope - you can always make a box for it!

I hope to bring you inside stories from the fabulous people who work for Prima, along with some fun stories, step-by-step projects...maybe a recipe or two, and lots of other interesting tidbits. Let us know what you would love to see and we will try to get it for you!
So let's get going!
Professionally: I started with Prima over five years ago by applying for their first ever design team call...and, thank God, I made it! The rest, as they say, is history! I now coordinate our international design team of 20 absolutely amazingly talented gals, work with media relations, plan and co-coordinate events, create and teach projects internationally, work hands on with our Creative Director, co-moderate "Live With Prima" classes, and a bunch of other things that need to be done! I cannot imagine working for any other company since Prima and I are a great fit. I love their products, love the people whom I work with, and love the company's vision.
Personally: On a personal note I'm a pretty simple girl in a crazy, busy household in Kentucky!
I recently celebrated 25 years with my hubby, Bill (whom I met in pre-school. I wish I could find a pic of the two of us from back then! I'm pretty sure I was WAY taller than he was. :) )
Together we have three beautiful daughters-Brittany, Breanna and Bethany (who all happen to be in college right now-$$$)
...and four handsome boys- Brayden and Billy in the back and Jonathan and Josiah in the front-whom all happen to be at home with me. every. single. day. Haha. (We home-school-EEK! Now there's an adventure for you. It's our 18th year...which seems totally crazy to me, but it works and we love it. Only 12 more years to go...)
Our oldest daughter, Bethany, is married to a wonderful guy, Jon...
...and they JUST had a sweet little girl in February named Amariah Grace. (Somehow she ends up in a LOT of my layouts...I have no idea why! Do you?)
Things I Love: Photography, reading, a clean house, caesar salad, chicken fingers with honey mustard sauce, traveling, my mother-in-law's potato salad, dates with hubby, laughing, Bible Quizzing, hanging out with my kids and their friends, politics, history, games, snuggling with my grandbaby and...get ready for this...SCRAPBOOKING! Haha...I absolutely LOVE it. As soon as I take a new batch of photos I cannot wait to print them out and dig out my Prima products and art supplies. Sometimes I even dig out my sewing machine...hehe...(it gets used for scrapbooking ONLY now!)
Since it's fall and I just took my boys to the zoo (boy was that funny...think teen-age boys' humor and animals...in the same place) I made a special layout commemorating those fun memories just to share with you.
Favorite Season: I had so much fun trying a new technique on this project. First up...I sent the boys out to collect leaves. (I only needed about 5, but, SOMEHOW, got a lot more...along with a gorgeous purple flower that Josiah found. I REALLY hope it wasn't from the neighbor's flower garden.) I sealed the leaves with a bit of Tattered Angels Golden Goddess Glam. Here's a "before" shot:
And an "after" shot...look at that sparkle and shimmer! Make sure you coat both sides with a healthy amount of Glam.
Next I stamped on the leaf with a Jack and Jill text stamp with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. (I LOVE that whimsical stamp. The text is all haphazard. Simply adorable.)
Next I added a hint of gold (with the same stamp) right on top of the brown ink:
After the ink dried I added the leaves right on my layout in a banner shape. Now how fun is that? I know they MAY dry a bit, but so far they look good! (This is a project I would frame and hang up instead of putting in an album just to protect the leaves.)
Here's a close-up of the leaves and our amazing 3-D letters which I popped up with foam.
And a shot of some of our gorgeous flowers and crystal leaves.
Thank you for letting me share so much with you! I hope you enjoyed getting to know me a bit better.
Be sure and try this technique on a fall project. I think you will LOVE it! And if you send your kids out to collect leaves I hope they bring you back a flower too!
