Happy New Year With Heidi Kelley

The year has come to an end but Heidi Kelley's amazing work sure hasn't. She has brought us some amazing mixed media loveliness.

Aaaaah, the color of winter! Creams, whites, golds, and all that glitters... I find myself drinking in the beauty everywhere I go. The snow sparkles, my children twinkle, and the promises of a New Year has me waiting in anticipation. Today I thought I would show you my take in the winter palette, and this layout featuring my daughter, Sarenna, comes first!

While most of the paper within the Pixie Glen collection is pastel colored, I sought out to find the neutral colors. Fussy cutting lots of little details, I framed out her face, and added layers within her hair. I also added some "earrings" from the paper, for additional whimsy! Using paints, molding paste, and lots of other delicious Prima details like the flocked embellies (snowflakes here), shabby chic treasures, and trinkets, I built lots of layers that you can see up close in these pics.

Of All Nature's Gifts Supply List:

  • Pixie Glen Paper #843632
  • Ledger Paper #843748
  • Cotton Tape #550813
  • Shabby Chic Treasures #890759
  • Flocked Rub-ons #550851
  • Angelica Rose #546366

Also using this palette (with the addition of a few pale hues), I decided to alter a notebook cover, for random thoughts, quotes, and memories of the upcoming new year! Loaded with texture, I built the base of the cover using Resistant Canvas, using pops of color here and there.

Shine This Season Supply List:
Supplies used:

  • North Country Collection "Snow Fall" #843298
  • Bretton Vines Parchment #552664
  • Sherwood Rose Truffle #552688
  • Coiled Pearls Emily #552442
  • SIIC Borders Botanical #544478
  • Cotton Tape #550790
  • Resistant Canvas #551643
  • SIIC #551490

And finally, a glammed up jewelry tree made with more of the gold tones.

Bought at a local craft store, she was nearly naked... and we can't have that, now can we? Her gown is created with Prima flowers, bling, stamped cotton tape, and lots of Prima edgings! My heat gun got a work out here, but she finally looks ready to hold some of my treasured jewelry for the New Year!

Jewelry Tree Supply List:

  • Printery Coventry Rose #553296
  • Be Charmed Gilden Flower #553371
  • Avon Rose North Country #552473
  • Splendor Leaves #553609
  • Tiny Treasures #550691
  • Ornamental Edgings #550455
  • Gold Ornamental Edgings#550462
  • Twill Black Ornamental Edging #550479
  • Tassel Gold Ornamental Edging #550493
  • Writer's Tape #550790
  • Alla Prima Mounted Stamp Set #551094
  • Romantique Mounted Stamp Set #551063
  • Say It In Crystals #541163
  • splendor Leaves-Winter #553609

Wishing you and yours an exciting, amazing, New Year!!
xx Heidi

Lovely Layouts with Anna-Maria Wolniak

Hello everybody. Today Anna-Maria Wolniak would like to share a few of her beautiful layouts with you. Sharing some of the steps she takes in creating these wonderful pieces.

It has been a long time since I last blogged here. Since I was presenter as Prima Marketing new designer I have had no time to share with you my inspirations and ideas of how to use PM merchandise. All that time has passed in the blink of an eye and suddenly it is already the end of November!  I would like to show you  four of my works inspired by the autumnal weather.

The first layout is perversely called "fall & love"; I decided to frame this wonderful photo into my favourite colours of the season, namely grey and massicot (ochre). In this work, apart from glimmer mists, masks and watercolours, I employed strong and invasive accents in the form of a huge, grey flower adorned with feathers and small shimmering crystals, along with the felt mustard leaves. Both the leaves painted with watercolours and the canvas flowers are the subtler accents of the work.

You may be already aqcuainted with my second work as it was included in the September PPP - i.e. the brown colour palette.
I intended to transfer the glimmering lights of the city from the photo onto the base paper. I managed to do this with the help of many crystals of various colours and quality, some accents in the form of golden buttons and a long, meaningful title. As usual, paint is an obligatory part of my work.

When we first met, I had no idea you would be so important to me.

Speaking of paint (I am aware that I am unusually prolific today, but I just want to make the most of this post), I would like to introduce my third layout to you - it is going to be the last one for today - where the first fiddle is played precisely by paint. The minimum of papers, restraint in the use of ornaments and, at the same time, colour madness - this is my suggestion for grey, cloudy days of autumn.

Fresh & Easy

(this layout was inspired by Tara's Anderson work)

And the last one, the same recipe: the minimum of papers, restraint in the use of ornaments and colour softness - this is an excellent method for linking feelings binding a mother and daughter.

You autocomplete me

Here are a few of my holiday Layouts.I hope you enjoy.

OH deer!

Thank you for the time spent together and see you soon on PM website!

It's "How To" Day with Janine Koczwara

Hi it's Janine Koczwara here again, who is currently enjoying the warm sunshine of an Australian Summer!!  I am very envious of all of you that got to experience the magic of a white Christmas this year!  It is my dream to enjoy that experience one day, but in the meantime I will enjoy the hot sunny days Adelaide has on offer at the moment!  I trust that you all had a fabulous Christmas with family and friends.

I am bringing two quite different projects to show you today!  I always love layers on my pages, it is how I find I can add interest and detail to my work and I just love the look of it!  In this first project I have gone to town with the new Prima Distress Tool (my new best friend) to create a very shabby vintage feel to my layout.

All I Dream For You

In the creation of this project I also had a lot of fun using Rangers Tim Holtz distress ink and a Prima Mask to create the greyish blue, leafy hand-cut layer. As you can see there are so many layers in this project and they are all distressed and shabby, even the photographs and this level of distressing is so easy to achieve with the new Prima Distress Tool.  You can see how this layout was constructed in the video below.

  • 842765 Botanical Collection
  • 843755 12x12 Ledger Paper
  • 8411402 Shabby Chic Collection - Morning Poetry
  • 545659 Mask
  • 551223 Chipboard Stickers Romantique
  • 551087 Cling Stamps
  • 550066 Alphabet Stickers
  • 544249 Alphabet Stickers
  • 523725 Essentials #4
  • 890841 Shabby Chic Treasures
  • 890858 Shabby Chic Treasures
  • PE067D101 Limited Edition Roses
  • PE 06738 Limited Edition Roses
  • 539504 Primrosa Flower
  • 536350 Clear Stamps
  • 890940 Comfort Craft Distress Tool
  • 890964 Comfort Craft Knife

Now onto a step by step for my second project that focuses on the design elements rather than a lot of techniques to create this elegant page. Getting the design of a page right is extremely important to the overal effectiveness of the Layout.  The design started around the hand cut sprawling vine paper, it provides movement in the layout and draws your eye around the page.

Model Potential

  • 843540 - Printery Collection - Love Ledger
  • 843526 - Printery Collection - Page Four
  • 843557 - Printery Collection - Folio
  • 843519 - Printery Collection - Signature
  • 551247 - Printery Chipboard Pieces
  • 890742 - Shabby Chic Resin Treasures
  • 544225 - Alphabet Chipboard - Black
  • 543761 - Orchard Mix - Dewdrop
  • 538637 - Fairytale Roses
  • 539504 - Primrosa
  • 538675 - Cameo Roses
  • 540456 - Mulberry Rose Leaves
  • 545482 - Alencon Lace
  • Prima Velvet Ribbon
  • Special  Edition Gypsophillia, Small Roses and White natural flowers

Other Products Needed:

  • Martha Stewart Around the Page Punch
  • Tim Holts Distress Ink - Walnut Stain
  • Ranger Glossy Accents
  • Distress Ink Tool
  • Tattered Angels Chalkboard Glimmermist - Cotton Candy
  • Step 1 - Carefully cut around the patterned paper and trim it back as shown on the LH side, so that it can sit above other elements on your page. The new Prima Craft Knife is perfect for this step.

  • Step 2 - Use the Martha Stewart around the page punch to create a decorative edge around your page, Ink edges and stick down onto the black paper.
  • Step 3 - From the paper that has several distinct areas on it, cut out the long black damask floral part. Punch across the top edge. Ink edges.
  • Step 4 - Cut a strip from the cream left over part of the paper the first cut out came from and punc across one side, ink edged and stick down as shown below.
  • Step 5 - Add the two layers of ribbon as shown.

  • Step 6 - Arrange the handcut edge and the strip across the page and stick down.
  • Step 7 - Cut another section from the patterned paper, the bordered ledger part. Ink edges and stick down just above the top of the punched edge.

  • Step 8 - Glimmermist 2 small roses and one fo the white flowers to the delicate pink colour.
  • Step 9 - Add your photos, chipboard and floral embellishments and finally your title to finish off the page.  I have printed part of the title onto transparency, cut around it and stuck down with Ranger Glossy Accents.  I used Porcelain font downloaded from the internet.

Model Potential

By placing the emphasis on the large deep pink flower, deep pink velvet ribbon and the deep pink in the colour photograph, a trio of accents has been created to make the whole page pop.

Sizing of flowers is crucial in making a floral cluster work effectively.  Always start with your largest flower/s and work downward in size from there, adding small sprays and leaves as the last touch as this is the best way to ensure balance  in both design and color compsition to the cluster.

The small cluster provides balance to the larger cluster and also helps in creating part of a visual triangle in the design of the LO.

I hope you have enjoyed these tutorials and projects today while having a wonderful festive season between Christmas and New Years!

An Artistic Collection by Anna Dabrowska

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas weekend. Today on the Prima blog, Anna Dabrowska has created a few artistic pieces she would like to share with all of you.

Happily ever after... These words are the perfect description of the relationship I have with my husband. Since we first met in 1996 we've always liked each other and considered us as good friends...all changed in 1998, one dark summer night, when we had a long, interesting conversation. Few weeks later he called me, then he visited me... and now, after so many years we are married. He's my best friend and my husband in one and I hope we'll be always together.I wanted this layout to be both romantic and eclectic, with a small dose of artsy feeling, that's why I decided to use modern and elegant Alla Prima papers combined with gel medium, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and gesso. I love mixing styles, so I used grungy chipboard's and metal gears together with beautiful, feminine flowers - in my opinion, it is a perfect match, just as me and my husband!

Wintertime is not very popular theme among scrapbookers – but I think cold, winter colors may be very inspiring. You don't need a lot of color to create an interesting, detailed composition – in fact, the less colors you use, the more details and small elements yo can add. Here we have only white, black, a bit of brown and two shades of blue – but you've got an impression that the page is rich and well filled with elements. It is because of the stamped background combined with altering the photo : main patterns stamped one on another give a modern, interesting look which is a perfect background for scrapping. The photo which I used is made in late 70ties – it is my Mother in her winter coat – I really adore that authentic vintage atmosphere, which I find on this shot.

I absolutely love how the "North Country" collection go with the plain craft background: these reds, greens and blues are in beautiful contrast to the cardboard brown and composing a layout with these colors is a pure pleasure. I also did some background stamping here, with 2 different colors of ink: Crimson and Coffee, which goes  nicely with the patterned paper colors. This is maybe a bit unusual take on the winter layout - but why not? These papers give so many possibilities that it seems to be a great idea to try something "different".
The final touches are brads, crystals and my favorite paper clips - it is simple, but thanks to colors - it looks quite rich and interesting.

My life isn't organised, I don't have much time for my friends and family and I know that sometimes it hurts somebody. As long as it is me, who is in pain, it is ok: I asked for it, right? But when this situation is a source of sadness or pain of the others I feel sad, sorry and ashamed. One of the affected people is my grandma, the oldest member of our family. It is so hard to explain how many feelings I have for her: starting with these warm and bright ones to those darker, full of fear and anticipation... and will to forget about the hard truth: she is fading, we loose a bit of her everyday - and I am still not brave enough to accept it and watch it happen.

  You fade

Journaling: You disappear, you fade and I am still not brave enough to believe in it.

I've made this journal page on 2 Prima chipboard packages - I loved the design and colors of them - I used the elements of packaging before in my layouts, but here they are the background - and the patterned papers too! To embellish it I cut out hearts and printed flowers from the packaging, I punched the strips and torn it into pieces. The extra touch is given by strips of torn Prima Canvas and cotton tape. The pages were colored a bit with glimmer mists too. The other elements are plain yellow tapes, some doilies, and rub-on

Trina McClune Brings Us a A Very Merry Friday

Happy Friday everyone! It's our last post of the week before Christmas and Trina McClune has brought us some outstanding projects to share with you. Make sure to check out her unique advent calendar!

HI everyone. Trina here. I'd like to share some Prima projects I've been working on in the last little while...

First a couple of 'day to day' LO's. Then a wonderful Christmas project I created a little while ago. And finally a 'teacher gift'.

This first LO was created with Prima's canvas, packaging and crystals.

I wanted to keep the photo the focus on this LO as it's so beautiful. By adding in the transparent packaging, I was able to add a pattern without taking away from the focus.

The canvas was cut, then sprayed in several different colours, before some black was splattered across it to tie it into the background.

  • 541101 - SIIC Swirl with Fimo Black
  • 890902 - Metal Treasures Street Lamps
  • 549763 - Mistables

Other: 2 types of packaging, white tag, pen, thread, sandpaper

This next one has a photo Sharon took of my children and I on her recent trip to NZ. We went out sightseeing and she took this great photo. THANKS Sharon!

I included some old Prima (like the heart stamp, some of the flowers and leaves) and some new (the metal treasures, the vine and a couple of flowers). I've said it before and I'll say it again... I LOVE how you can mix and match ranges of Prima from a few collections ago to right now!

In this LO I also included bunched up pieces of organza. I love how you can colour them using inks or sprays to fit the theme of your work.

And now, because it's Christmas, I thought I'd share a fun advent calendar I made.

The idea is to hang it around your Christmas tree, and open one box each day of Christmas until Christmas day.

Each box was made using a Sizzix Suitcase die cut. Then put together and decorated. Each has been held together with a beautiful ribbon, so heavier items can be put into the 'suitcase' should you wish to.

I used the beautiful North Country collection to create this calendar.

Each suitcase is designed differently to enforce the idea that there is a new and special surprise in each one.

But I wanted them to 'match' as well, and so used glitter to bring them all together.

Die cuts are a wonderful way to keep your costs down when you're making such a large project. By using them to cut designs from Prima's paper you make interesting textural embellishments without the extra cost.

Because each one is being opened to collect the goodies inside, Prima's double sided papers are perfect for this project. Both the inside and out, look beautiful.

Patterned Paper:

For instructions on how I made this calendar, please see my blog:

And finally I made this booklet as a 'thank you' to my son's first teacher. In New Zealand our school year goes from Feb-Dec, so our schools have just closed for the summer. Yippee!

As a class we worked on this together. I created the book, then all the children in the class drew a picture and contributed a photo of themselves to make a double page of each child. It was a very special project and we all had a lot of fun with our children creating their masterpieces.

This is what the front of the book looks like:

I've used a gorgeous resin piece to highlight a photo of the class on their first day, and it also reminds me of how as parents we'd all stand at the windows watching and waiting for the day to end.

Each page of the book was made from canvas. I cut out 20 odd pieces of cardstock in size 6x6", then cut pieces of canvas slightly larger.

I glued a piece of canvas to each side of the card. Then stitched them together.

Then for the front cover I used a Prima wall mask to create a design. To make it easier to block off pieces of the mask, I scrunched up some left over pieces of canvas and popped it randomly onto the mask.

Next I used some Glimmermist (riptide) to give a bright blue colour (Dan's teacher's favourite colours are blue and purple).

Once the base design is created you can decorate with flowers, resin, crystals etc.

I thought the word 'inspire' in the vintage trinket was perfect so had to be added!

The finishing touches were of course a ton of ribbons to add extra 'fluff' to the look of the album.

Plus tags stitched onto each page with the child's name.

As I write this post, we are still to give it to the teacher, but by the time the post goes live, she will have received it. I sure hope she likes it!

Here are the Prima supplies I used:

  • 535315 - SIIC with flowers black
  • 551186 - Vintage Trinkets
  • 552985 - Gillian Aqua
  • 538736 - Cameo Roses Turquoise
  • 548858 - Corine Collection
  • 549343 - Candy Gems Fruitty Tutti
  • 548599 - Whisper Collection Sparkling
  • 544102 - Cottage Blossoms Orchid
  • 550004 - Brick wall mask
  • 546649 - De Soie Col Bistro
  • 553616 - Vermont Ivory

Well, that's it from me for the year. Thanks so much for joining me. Have an absolutely amazing Christmas season and safe and happy new year!

Holiday Beauty with Emeline Seet

Only three days until Christmas. I know already! Well today on the Prima blog Emeline Seet has created some incredible holiday projects, we hope you enjoy.

Festive greetings!

In a few more days, Christmas will be here! I am so excited and I cannot believe we are so close to closing the year. I'm really looking forward to a brand new year and I hope you are equally looking forward!

I really adore decorating the house with themed decorations during the festive period. Handmade items using things already found in the house are a bonus! Here, I made use of a  cone shaped Styrofoam , inverted it an covered with a pattern paper. Topped it with several Prima embellishments and stuff found from my Christmas stash (bird and black flower), the mix resulted in an interesting decorative piece. You can even hang this tussie mussie onto a Christmas tree! The inspiration of this piece came from the solid color combination I once came across : gold and black. It speaks elegance and I threw in a hint of red for visual balance.

I am sure it isn't a challenge for many crafters out there to create such a piece. I thought I'll just show you in a few simple steps how/ what I wrapped the cone and what I used to adhere the silver tinsel.

The base of the cone shall be the platform for you to embellish to your heart's content!

Picture 1

Steps involved :

 1.Wrap pattern paper around cone.

  • - the height of my cone is approximately 8”. My pattern paper is at least 9”x9”.
  • - Wrap pattern paper around cone, use a pencil to trace the curve at cone base.
  • - Trim excess pattern paper; such that pattern paper covers only the cone.
  • - Apply liquid adhesive to adhere pattern paper to Styrofoam cone.

 Picture 1a

 2) Apply liquid adhesive and attach trims.

3) Twist Prima's glass beads and sequin twine (Rocky Candy #552206) around the   base of the cone.

  • Twist one end of silver tinsel around a pearl pin head. Repeat for the other end with another pin.

 4)  Embellish.

  • - The glittered bird is one of a long-time item found in my Christmas stash, collected lovingly over the years. Apply liquid adhesive to secure.

  • 'Togetherness' Just Us Collection #601737
  • Rocky Candy #552206
  • Ornamental Edging #550493
  • Holiday metal #553425
  • Cradle #552879
  • Gillian #553029

My second project is a display piece using a vintage tray passed down from my mother.

I made use of several Prima canvas and used tape runner to  secure onto the vintage tray.

It's titled “She Likes” and this “she” refers to me. These are some elements in canvas forms which inspires me. Dress form, butterflies, bees, birdcage, spoons and of course Prima resins and flowers !

I used Ranger's distress inks to add color to the canvas pieces.

  • #552343 Nicole Fabric Flower
  • #551636 Resist Canvas
  • #551407 Say It In Crystals

Finally, my final Prima project for the year is a little note holder. (See the rolled paper tucked behind the door?) I used the reverse side of a canvas and wrapped the surrounding with (painted white) corrugated board. I further embellished with motifs from Prima's Pixie Glen and flowers in white shades.

Here's wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year in advance. See you next year!

Beauty All Around with Stacey Young

Today on the Prima blog Stacey Young has created some unbelievable projects and even shares her how to on altering Prima's birdhouse album! Enjoy.

Hi lovely friends, Stacey Young here with you today. Sharing some projects today using some Ranger Alcohol inks and of course my dearest Prima flowers. The first project is a gift I made for Cooper's Kindergarten teachers. He has had the most wonderful year in Kindy and I wanted to make them something special as they were extremely special to Cooper. I found 2 old jars in my scrap room and thought they needed a new home and decorating (I also filled them with lollies). I started off by running Ranger's alcohol inks in Raspberry and Purple Twilight down the jars, starting from the lid area. I let it dribble and dry and then I added all of my blooms twisting my way around the lid. Pretty simple really and effective, I think they liked them.

Product List:

Purple jar -

  • #538613 Fairytale Roses
  • #547394 Precious Metals
  • #552800 Carlotta Royale
  • #549077 Flowered Tendrils
  • #533731 Flutter Vines Fushia
  • #549015 Sugar Blooms
  • #546861 Treasure Rae
  • #552152 Fantasy
  • #552978 Gillian Lilac
  • #553609 Splendor

Pink jar -

  • #544386 Acro Iris Flowers
  • #553319 Coventry Rose
  • #547424 Precious Metals
  • #544775 SIIC Swirl
  • #5490914 Flowered Tendrils
  • #548605 Whisper Collection
  • #552930 Melody Rose
  • #55947 Melody Sepia

My next little altered project in a Christmas bauble. I used the same technique with the Alcohol ink this time in Pool. My Christmas tree is this shade of aqua so it fits perfectly in amongst all the pretties. I then added some leaves, flowers and ribbon.

Product list:

  • #551339 SIIC
  • #546892 Treasure Rae
  • #551841 Crystal Palace
  • #547394 Pecious Metals
  • #553050 Bristo Blooms
  • #552985 Gillian Aqua
  • #553609 Splendor White

My next project I have had in my mind for quite some time, finally been able to create it. It did take me a while but I have completed it and I just adore it. I created this "Love" birdhouse canvas album using the Pixie Glen range. My family and I had some professional photos taken of us back when Mason was born 6 months ago, I think this album showcases the pictures beautifully. I will share with you some pictures of the album and then I will show you a quick tutorial on how to create the background brick wall effect.

My little birdie perched up there on the top of the window. I added Ranger ink in Sandal and Modelling Paste to the bird and Window to give it a rustic look.

These are my inside pages of the canvas:

Okay, here I will show you how I created the background. Firstly I opened up the whole album and applied a coat of Gesso. I rarely ever wait for my paint to dry so I got stuck in with my brick mask and sprayed randomly all over the album using a couple of different colours.

After using my mask I always flick the excess back onto my project/page etc.

I then applied some Modelling past throughout the white sections of the mask. I used a paint brush to do this and didn't worry too much if I didn't apply it to all of the areas. This gives your project loads of texture.

I then applied some Ranger Alcohol ink in Pool to brighten up the area. I also flicked this around to add to the spots and splashes of colour.

I then realised that it was much too bright so I toned it back down by using some paints and pearlz with my finger. That is why I love creating with mixed media, you can never get it wrong and you can just add more and more layers of colour, gesso, paste etc to get it too look exactly how you like.

At this point is where I started to adhere all of my embellishments, flowers, leaves, papers etc. Just layering and layering as I went. Adding bits and pieces here and there, taking things off and trying different combinations. It was all way too much fun!

Product List:

  • #843212 "Devon"
  • #843182 "Pyske Cuts"
  • #843236 "Dartmoor"
  • #550004 Brick mask
  • #550097 Typography
  • #550677 Tiny Treasures
  • #552169 Fantasy Jewel
  • #552268 Solitaire
  • #552848 Regia
  • #552695 Sherwood Rose
  • #552190 Rock Candy
  • #553524 Aglow Black Magic
  • #552879 Cradle Robin
  • #552152 Fantasy Tiffany
  • #547721 Valenciennes
  • #549084 Flowered Tendrils Turkish Stone
  • #539313 Belle Artes

Happy, happy holidays everyone, I hope the man in the big red suit finds you all!!

Stacy Cohen Brings Us a Bright and Happy Monday

Happy Monday everyone; only a week until Christmas and Stacy Cohen has brought us some awe inspiring projects to distract us form the stress of the holidays.

The holidays are almost upon us. I'm happy to say that I've made my list and checked it twice, and I'm finally done with my gift shopping. Woo hoo!! I even managed to find a few little gifts for myself this year. Shhhhhhhhh . . . don't tell. Hopefully you're all finding a little time to relax during this busy holiday season.  I have a few projects to share today. First up is a "shadow box" layout made with layers of cardstock. I love to create projects that have a rainbow of color. Bright, vibrant colors make me very happy.

I cut squares from a sheet of Screen printed Canvas (#920722), then I colored them with Ranger Alcohol Inks in a rainbow of colors. I used Ranger Alcohol Blending Solution to evenly distribute the color on each square.  I used Perfect Pearls mists to color a couple white flowers so that they would match the color palette. The shadow box effect was created with several sheets of white cardstock. I simply cut out the center of each sheet in graduated steps, then I separated the layers with extra thick foam adhesive. Yep, this puppy is going on the wall rather than in a page protector!

Prima products:

  • 920722 Screenprinted Canvas
  • 890711 Shabby Chic Treasures
  • 552718 Sherwood Rose Cottage flowers
  • 548124 Floret Collection
  • 544393 Arco Iris
  • 552978 Gillian Lilac
  • 536350 Clear Stamp
  • 551407 Say it in Crystals
  • 548193 Dollhouse Collection
  • Ranger products: Alcohol inks (various colors)
  • Perfect Pearls Mist (various colors)
  • Paint Dabber (Snow)

This next layout features my precious little kitty, Lucy. I took these pictures of her when she was just 8 weeks old.

I used Ranger alcohol ink to color the Prima Resist Canvas and also the Reflections antique mirrored pieces.  I added tiny beads of Ranger Liquid Pearls to outline my stitched circles.

Prima products:

  • 843298 North Country "Snow Fall"
  • 551629 Resist Canvas
  • 551155 Reflections Antique Mirror
  • 552718 Sherwood Rose Cottage
  • 550172 Alphabet stickers
  • 551360 Say it in Crystals
  • Ranger products: Alcohol inks (Lettuce and Citrus)
  • Stickles (Frosted Lace)
  • Liquid Pearls (Petal Pink)
  • Perfect Pearls Mists (Pink Gumball)

This is a card I made for my daughter for her birthday last month.  Every year on their birthdays I make my daughters a special card just for them, and I write a very long note inside -- all about who they are at that age, how much I love them, etc.

Prima products:

  • 920340 Screenprinted Canvas
  • 842864 Celebrate "Happy Easter Jack"
  • 842468 Madeline "Parfait"
  • 529451 Lace
  • 537807 Athena flowers
  • 548131 Floret Rosie
  • 550165 Tiny Alphabet Stickers

Last but not least, I made a Hanukkah card.  Hanukkah starts tomorrow night at sundown . . . the beginning of 8 fun nights at our house!

Again, I used Ranger Liquid Pearls (Silver) to make the little beaded dots around the circles.  I hand-cut the Stars of David and coated them with silver Stickles.

Prima products:

  • 843298 North Country "Snow Fall"
  • 841591 So Cute "Noteworthy"
  • 537446 Tea Roses Snow
  • 550134 Tiny Alphabet Stickers

Thank you for letting me share today!  I wish everyone a very Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!! ~Stacy Cohen~

A Mix of Christmas Color with Steph Devlin

Steph Devlin has brought us a new Christmas Color combination today with her wintry creations. Who says Christmas has to be only red and green?

I have never been one for a traditional Red and Green Christmas, and this year I thought that blue, white and silver would be a gorgeous color scheme to work with, both with my home decor and with my Christmas Blog Post for Prima.

I love the purity of white, its symbolism for snow and all things Christmas, and thought it would be beautiful to decorate it with monochromatic blues and silvers for this layout of my sweet daughter Madison.

You can see in the close ups, the textured brick stamp underneath the blooms, well I would love to share with you the technique, on how to achieve that effect.

So..... the products.  Claudine Hellmuth by Ranger is an awesome line to use, the paint are highly pigmented so you don't use much and they last quite a while.  I have Claudine's paint in "Classic Teal", and will be using her Multi-Medium Gel, which is such a multi use product for scrapbooking and beyond.  The other two tools you will need are a paintbrush and stamp of your choice.

So what I am going to do is create a glaze.  What I mean by a glaze is a layer of paint, in this case, made thinner by the multi-medium gel, and allowing it to reduce the chroma of the paint.  The more gel you add, the more transparent it becomes.

So what I have done here is mixed 5 parts gel to 1 part paint.  Mix it together with your paintbrush so all the pigment is absorbed into the gel.

Next lather up your paintbrush !!!! Don't be shy 1!!! I find the more paint you apply to your stamp the more textural the image will become.  This adds depth and interest to your project.

You can see here, just how textural that paint mixed with gel has become - once you give it a quick blast with a heat tool, its ready to decorate on.

Tip:  If you love transparent glazes try mixing 8 parts gel and 1 part pigmented paint.  You end up with a near transparent medium, that is perfect to apply as a wash over patterned papers and art journals !!!

  • 553609 - Splendor
  • 551562 - Tiny treasures
  • 548848 - Corine
  • 542559 - Bronte Blooms
  • 890773 - Small Birds
  • 543303 - Holiday Celebration - Frost Vine
  • 537555 - Winter Roses
  • 551025 - Prima Brick Stamp

The second project I would love to share is a Christmas Card, again keeping to the monochromatic blues - and just adding some warm brown for interest.

  • 550578 - SIIC
  • 890841 - Outdoor Lamps
  • 553609 - Splendor- Winter
  • 553821 - Coventry Rose
  • 843821 - Forest Notes
  • 843298 - Snow Fall
  • 551360 - SIIC

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my last post for Prima for 2011. Have a beautiful and blessed Christmas.

Christmas Wonders With Hege Lundquist

Hege Lundquist has brought us some inspiring projects today. Her beautiful layouts will make anyone want to create.

Hi everyone! It's already December and so close to christmas. If you are like me you still have thousands of things to do still. I haven't even started with the gift shopping..."sigh". My kids are so full of expectations and joy these days. And their christmas wishlist keeps getting longer and longer. If only they knew that their loving parents already have taken care of their biggest wishes. I can't wait to see their faces on christmas eve. Here in Norway christmas eve is the day for family gathering and opening presents.

Well well, I'm here to present my christmas/winter projects to you. Hopefully you maybe will be a little inspired :-) Here we go. First of all Ive made a christmas eve layout with photos from last year. My little girl was 2years at the time and full of joy for all the gifts underneath the tree. She took her time to carefully open her presents one by one. Such a sweetie!

I have mostly used the North Country collection and added some details of the beautiful christmas flowers.
  • -Item# 843243 North Country Col. Wonderland
  • -Item# 843304 North Country Col. Maine Meadow
  • -Item# 551254 Chipboard - North Country
  • -Item# 552541 Essentials 11 - North Country
  • -Item# 553289 Coventry Rose - North Country

  • -Item# 553401 Holiday - Red
  • -Item# 843755 12” X 12” Ledger

Next project out is a new years eve layout. On the last day of 2010 we all went outside. It was a beautiful day with lots of snow. My boys wanted to try their new snow-racers they got for christmas. This is my youngest son taking a break in the snow :-)

I wanted to keep this layout as cold as possible. Love all the white together with a touch of light blue!
I've used a prima mask to get more details on to the plain white background paper. It got a more fun feeling to it i think.

  • -Item# 550004 Masks
  • -Item# 550851 Flocked Rub-Ons - North Country
  • -Item# 843014 Fresh Breeze - Sweet Fairy Collection

  • -Item# 551636 Resistant Canvas - Romantique
  • -Item# 552473 Avon Rose - North Country

At last..a christmas/winter card. I would never think that I would present a card for you here. I'm really not very good at card making. But once in a while I get really inspired ( a specially from my fellow flowergirls :-) ) to try it myself. And once in a while, I actually get happy with it too.

I love to scrap winter themes both on layouts and cards. It's something about the white and blue and a touch of glitter that makes me go "awhh" every time I see that combo.

Item# 552657 Bretton Vines - Script

Item# 553609 Splendor - Winter

Item# 552473 Resistant Canvas - Romantique

Item# 843281 North Country Col. Forest Notes

Awe Inspiring Projects with Trudi Harrison

Christmas is quickly approaching and Trudi Harrison has outdone herself with these awe inspiring projects to get you in the mood.
Festive Greetings Everyone! It's Trudi here today sharing some more Prima holiday cheer.
Christmas is such a magical time for my two girls.  Their wonder and excitement in the lead up to the big day, I have to say is contagious.
Each year, we head down town to meet 'the man that wears that red suit'.
Sometimes it is a bit of a hit and miss, especially for my littlest one when it comes time to actually sitting on the knee of 'the man that wears the red suit'. On this particular occasion, Santa was on for quite a chat.  Many things were discussed including the Christmas 'wish' list.  Miss N (my youngest) would be most happy with a green care bear and a barrel of monkeys and Miss E would very much like anything that Santa thinks she might like.
The joy and happiness of my two girls is all I ask for... and perhaps, maybe a little sleep in (LOL!).
For me,
'All I want for Christmas is you'
  • #843311 North Country – Glacier Roads
  • #843755 12” x 12” Ledger
  • #551254 North Country – Chipboard
  • #550516 Trim – Cream
  • #553289 Coventry Rose – North Country
  • #553432 Holiday – Carmine
  • #553418 Holiday – Crimson
  • #550097 8” x 10” Alphabet – Romantique

I have combined the beautiful North Country Collection with Ledger Papers and Holiday 'Carmine' and 'Crimson' add a gorgeous festive touch.

Things at the Harrison house are starting to look very festive. The Christmas tree is assembled and looks quite splendid decorated with all of it's pretty bits and baubles.
I also like to add my own personal touch with some home made Christmas cheer.
Following is a little festive piece I have created for the table.
  • #553425 Holiday - Metal
  • #552091 Meredith -Merlin
  • #553456 Medley - Treasure
  • #550462 Trim - Gold
  • #547424 Precious Metals Col Gilded
Recently, I discovered the reindeer in a little decor shop.  He came already glittered and with a small corsage already around his neck.  To the mix, I added some Precious Metals - Gilded Leaves, Holiday- Metal Flowers and a touch of tulle.  Gold Trim and added bells adorn his belly.
The sleigh, I have had for a little while and usually have it sitting on the Christmas table filled with sweets. I have also given it a little makeover to coordinate with the reindeer. A corsage of Medley 'Treasure' and more Holiday - Metal Flowers, Precious Metals - Gilded Leaves and Tulle adorn the back of it.
Sitting in the sleigh, is also a hand made bauble decoration.
  • #843304 North Country Col. Maine Meadow
  • #843311 North Country Col. Glacier Roads
  • #843267 North Country Col. In The Forest
  • #553319 Coventry Rose - Pixie Glen
  • #552473 Avon Rose - North Country
  • #536152 Monarch Diamond
To make one similar, you will need a Styrofoam ball. The one I have used is approximately 8.5"  in circumference.
Punch out some small circle medallions from Prima North Country patterned papers.  I used 2 different papers and remember with Prima papers they are double sided so this will give you 4 different medallion options.
Attach medallions in rows.
Work your way around the ball and slightly over lap as you go. I used a hot glue gun to attach the medallions, placing a small amount of glue on the back towards the top of each medallion.
Continue until the ball is covered - it should like something like this.
I then added Diamond Monarchs randomly around the ball and decorated the top with bows and blooms.
Finally,  looking ahead, I have a New Year affirmation altered Door Hanger to share with you.

Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Barn Door, Walnut Stain, Broken China and Tumbled Glass
Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Stain -Broken China
Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Paint - Picket Fence
Ranger Adirondack Lights Acrylic Paint - Snow Cap
Ranger Stickles - Frosted Lace and Icicle
These are some of the Ranger products that I have used to create the background and alter Prima products in my project.
I first covered a door hanger with neutral patterned paper - I used the reverse side of Romantique The Courts.
Using a Prima 8 x 8 Mask, I applied Ranger Snow Cap Acrylic Paint over the top.  Once dry, I repositioned the mask and went over with Broken China Distress Stain.
I toned this down by spritzing with water and lightly blotting with paper toweling.
On a craft mat, I applied the following Distress Inks - Broken China, Barn Door and Walnut Stain. Spritzed with water and then placed the door hanger over and top and twisted clockwise.  I did this a few times until I was happy with the result.

The holly branches are chipboard which I first painted with Picket Fence Distress Paint.  When this was dried, I applied Broken China Distress Ink, spritzed with water and lightly blotted excess with paper toweling.  Frosted Lace Stickles was then added around the leaf edges and tips.
From the Romanitque patterned paper, I die cut some foliage elements.  I also painted these with the Picket Fence Distress Paint  and went over the top with Broken China Distress Stain.
A touch of sparkle was then added to the leaves with Icicle Stickles.
Picket Fence Distress Paint was also used to alter the floral elements and cradle.
The rose petals were tipped white by place the rose head down in a small amount of paint and rotating clockwise.
Broken China Distress Stain was also used to alter the resin bird house and paper birds.
Thanks so much for dropping by the Prima Blog today and I hope you enjoyed my projects.
Festive Greetings to you and yours!!

It's a Winter Wonderland with Karola Witczak

Hello Prima fans! It's Karola here today with a few of my Christmas and Wintery projects.
Some time ago I started to prepare Christmas and winter decors for our home and I have to admit, that brings me to a lot of joy and fun. I listen winter songs, make a big mug of cocoa and I put all my attention to creating all that small decors, which makes winter time very magical and beautiful. I am certain that most of you have prepared your decors already, but many people create it at the last moment. For example, here in Poland we wear Christmas tree just 1 day before or at Christmas Eve. Create holiday and winter decorations with Prima products is child easy! Is a huge pleasure to combine with all those wonderful, stunning flowers and other embellies!

First I want to show you one of my winter wreath, which I made this year. I don't know yet where the door it hung, but this small white decor incredibly makes me happy. I decided to keep it in a very clear palette and I choose white and silver colors. I had a small wreath of twigs and to cover it I used Prima white lace, and then using a hot glue gun I adhere a lot of delicate vines, flowers and leaves. It took me less than one hour - so I highly encourage you to do something like this for your home for winter season!

Another home decor for the holidays that I created is a table (or fireplace, or other place) decor. I used a beautiful white pot from Ikea, I put inside some folded paper and on top of a lot of lace, and then I made composition using a beautiful Rock Candy Vine, gorgeous Gemini flowers and Splendor Leaves. I used my Cuttlebug to make a few snowflakes. The finishing touch are stunning Avon Roses (Londonerry).

Christmas without Christmas Cards? No way! You must admit that creating and giving handmade cards give so much pleasure and joy! I love to do it and for today I created two cards. One is in my beloved "bracket" shape, and a second one is more traditional. Reminds me of traditional Polish Christmas colours: green, red and gold. In both cards a main role playin' Holiday flowers - large, rich, amazing ... And in both cards I used Ranger Stickless and Liquid Pearls to add finishing touch (okay, I must admit - I LOVE those tiny dots!).

Finally, I would show you a layout, which I've done as a summary of this year. I think everyone should make a layout about themselves, their memories, an emotional response, events that we want to remember. This year was for me an amazing, full of heavy moments and hard work, but also full of many amazing and wonderful events. This Lo is also my memory page of this year in Prima Design Team. That was my second year in Prima and that was a huge honour, happiness, great time, full of learning and incredible challenges! To create this layout I used Ledger papers and lots of beautiful flowers and Shabby Chic Resins and Tiny Treasures. Used also a lot of Ranger Distress Crackle Paint (tatered rose) and Pearl Dabber Paint to add lightness, a little bit of airy and an individual touch. Thanks to Ranger Distress Ink pads (frayed burlap and pumice stone) my masking is very delicate, I love this effect!

Getting Into The Christmas Spirit With Marie-Nicolas

The Holidays have approached us and tis the season for decorating. Today Marie-Nicolas has brought us two beautiful project ideas.

Her first project is an Advent Calendar, where she will show you steps so you can recreate this fun canvas.

To do this you will need a larger sized canvas.

In one corner spray Ranger color wash over a Prima corner mask then use the mask as a stamp in the opposite corner. Then add bursts of color across the canvas with the washes. To add shimmer Go over the canvas with Perfect Pearls by Ranger Inks.

Around the edges of the canvas, use Ranger's Distress Stain in Broken China.

To make the flags: fold a piece of paper in half and notch out a point or make a border with a punch.

Write in a little paper what your children can make this day to wait for Christmas. And glue your flag on the string

You can make rosettes and cones to complete your calendar. Attach the string behind the frame.
