It's Going to Be a Flower-Filled May Day!
May Day is just around the corner...
and you know what THAT means?!?
It means lots and lots and lots of flowers!
...........................................................................................................................................
We asked our talented gals to go ALL OUT with flowers and here is what they have to share with you! So join in, get your flower on and enjoy!
Jamie Dougherty flowers things up with this adorable springtime birdhouse!
You just gotta love the trinket baubles hanging down off of it!
.....................................................................................................................................................
Ingvild Bolme decorated a normal, regular, run-of-the-mill box and turned it in to quite the showstopper!
Look at the gorgeous details and techniques Ingvild used! The paper is applied in torn pieces with Ranger's gesso for a nice, shabby effect.
Each angle of the box is given loads of attention with the ribbon border doubling as a "hinge" for keeping the lid attached when it is opened.
And a sweet bird tops off the beautiful creation!
Supplies:
........................................................................................................................................................
Stacy Cohen took a spring bonnet and Prima-fied it! How easy is that? Just think of the possibilities for altering items now!
..........................................................................................................................................
Anabelle O'Malley used flowers in such a unique way on this vintage-inspired layout! Our Craftable flowers are pure white and ready for you to color or alter.
....................................................................................................................................................
Trina McClune uses a variety of gorgeous blooms on this personal layout. What a perfect accent to a story about feeling better about yourself!
..........................................................................................................................................................
Want an inexpensive project idea? Repurpose an older item with a few Prima items and turn it into a gorgeous centerpiece like Anabelle did with this older vase!
A bit of ribbon, crystals and flowers made this vase fresh, modern, and oh-so-lovely!

Designer Day: Come Meet Birgit Koopsen!
Today we have a very talented gal from The Netherlands to introduce to you! Birgit Koopsen is a wonderful scrapbooker who teaches all over the world, a fabulous person to work with, and is extra cute to boot!
We cannot wait for you to get to know her, and her country, a little bit better!
...........................................................................................................................................
Hi everyone! I’m thrilled to be here on the Prima blog to tell a bit more about myself today!
I’m Birgit Koopsen and I live with my soul mate for 25 years and our 3 beautiful kids in a little village called Winsum in the north of the Netherlands. My husband has his own company (insurances/mortgages) and has his office at home in the former garage. I have my scrap studio also at home so we get to spend much time every day together with the kids, which is great! We have 2 daughters and a son (Anne 1994, Lennart 1995, and Marlijn 2002).
As the Dutch befits they go to school by bike: the youngest in our own village, the 2 oldest go to a village 10 km from here. I read one day that most Dutch households have more bikes than family members and, for us, that’s true. We have 7 bikes! We almost always take a couple of bikes on vacation!
We live in a wonderful house in a quiet street with a little harbor just across the street.
The house with the double red roofs on the right side of the apartment building is our house. The room underneath the smaller roof is my studio, the room underneath my studio is my husbands office.
We have a little boat and love to spent our free days on the water.
Our little village.
I love the country side where I live, especially in this time of year, when it’s all green and fresh. I love that we live in an area with so much water! But I really, really love the mountains in combination with either the sea or rivers, and since our country is so flat that you can see today who’s coming to visit you tomorrow, our favorite places to go on vacation are the south of France and Italy. The nature and the Mediterranean atmosphere, the food, the relaxed attitude and of course the wonderful weather are the ingredients for a perfect vacation! These countries make good scenery for beautiful pictures too!
I started scrapbooking officially 8 years ago, but ever since I was a teenager I’ve been enjoying photography and always "pimped" my photo albums, I just didn't know there was a name for it and special products. I've tried several crafts before I started scrapbooking; oil painting, model drawing, sculpted and much more. But after a while I always got bored with using the same technique over and over again. I was so happy when I found a magazine in the craft store one day about scrapbooking! I love being able to use whatever technique I want in this hobby! There’s always something new to try! Besides that I love how it keeps all the beautiful memories of special events and everyday life alive. Especially for my children!

The projects I want to share with you today are two door hangers and a layout.
The picture on this layout was taken during a boat trip on Lake Garda in Italy. We spent the most perfect day on the lake. We brought a pick nick basket and enough drinks for a whole day. In the middle of the lake we anchored the boat and went swimming and sun bathing and when we returned back in the evening we had a lovely dinner on a terrace in Desenzano while it was getting dark and we viewed the hundreds of lights of the little villages along the lake. A day to never forget!
Materials used:
This door hanger was made of a canvas page from one of the Prima canvas mini albums. I used a screen and gesso to get the texture.
Materials used:
The second door hanger is made out of wood and the text welcome was already on it when I bought it. I first stamped and embossed the tree on the hanger using white embossing powder. Then I used the Prima favorites Glimmer Mist color kit from Tattered Angels to color it. I loved how the mist pooled in the lower parts of the embossed tree so I let the excess to dry as it was.
Materials used:
Thank you so much for visiting here today! If you would like to know more about me, or my work, you can visit me on my blog: My scrapping life.
Smiles,
Birgit

Today we have a very special post showcasing amazing work from one of our readers!
Bente Bjerknes, from Norway, used some of our latest releases-gorgeous Vintage Trinkets- to create this stunning piece of jewelry.
How exquisite is this? Bente combined a few of the following metal trinkets by Prima to create a gorgeous necklace that is a work of art!
Vintage Trinket number 930028 includes a generous and lovely array of metal flower that are stackable.
Vintage Trinket number 549732 includes two sturdy metal flowers complete with leaves and crystal centers.
After joining the trinkets, Bente used a classy ribbon to finish the necklace at the length she wanted.
It is so easy to tie on and take off at the desired length now!
Swoon!
It truly is a piece of art and we THANK Bente for sharing it with us!
Make sure you "like" us on Facebook and share your Prima projects with us! Just look for "Prima Marketing Flowers" on Facebook's pages!

Don't forget! The Prima Design Team call ends TONIGHT!
We have some more special Easter projects for you on this very special day...
Anabelle O'Malley journaled about a very special Easter tradition they carry on in their house on this precious layout!
Journaling:
"The Evil Rabbit arrived in our house in the 70s. He was originally a flower planter. It became the family joke to put him at Daddy's place at the dinner table. He'd say, 'Get that Evil Rabbit out of here!" because he thought it had a sinister face. When Daddy died I inherited the rabbit. Now he makes his appearance every time we set the table in the dining room. Ryan thinks it's so funny when he comes for a 'visit'. Who would have thought that a ceramic flower holder would have such a legacy?"
Supplies:
..............................................................................................................................................
Daniela Dobson cut out Jack and Jill figurines from one of our newest paper lines...popped them up with foam squares...and tucked them on this adorable card! What a great way to add layers, depth and lots of fun texture to any card.

Designer Day: Come Meet Liana Suwandi!
Today we have a very special designer to introduce you to!
Liana Suwandi joined our team for the first time last June. She is a pro at multi-photo layouts, as well as creating beautiful cards and altered items. Her love for her family truly shines through everything she does! We cannot wait for you to get to know her better!
..................................................................................................................................
Hi everyone! Liana here. I'm really excited to be here for Prima's Designer Day.
So…a little about myself, where I live, and where I’m from:
I originally am from Jakarta, Indonesia (born and raised there until I graduated from high school), then I decided to study abroad (first destination was Sydney, Australia for about 3 months) before changing directions to Houston, TX. I got my Bachelor of Science in Hotel & Restaurant Management. I’d been working in the industry for a few years before I realized that this field is not where I belong!
My husband and I were high school sweethearts. We got married in 2001 and relocated to Dallas, TX.
If you ask me when did I start scrapbooking? The year 2001 was the first time I explored scrapbooking. I can still remember the first time I was in a Michaels store and bought my first CK magazine (November issue) and I talked myself into the fact that someday I would meet Lisa Bearnson and Becky Higgins. And, before I knew it, my dream came true!
I was fortunate in the year 2006 to be named as a Top Ten Scrapbooker of the Year Finalist, held by Creating Keepsake Magazine and guess what… I met my 2 idols, Becky and Lisa! They’re truly amazing people. Ever since, I’ve been lucky to get offered designer jobs with several manufacturers and to get published in magazines. I love making new friends though this hobby all around the globe. I’m thankful for that!
Now on to my family! Our girls, Caitlen and Adelene, were born the day after Christmas 2007.
Right now they’re my inspiration and my joy. To be perfectly honest, the first year of having twins was the rollercoaster for us, but luckily I’m a WAHM. My flexible work schedule allows me to be there with my girls when they need me the most.
Joining Prima's Design Team was another highlight of the year 2010. Prima is well-known for beautiful flowers and to die for crystals, I’m a lucky girl THANK YOU again Prima for giving me a chance to play with your gorgeous products.
Besides scrapbooking, I love making cards and altered projects. I love watching movies, listening to music, making cookies, and traveling.
The first project I’d love to share with you is a cute altered house featuring Jack-n-Jill and Paisley Road paper collections.
This small house is filled with incredibly beautiful Prima flowers and vines! I hand-cut images from Jack n Jill and used a hot glue gun to adhere them.
Supplies for Jack-n-Jill House:
Besides altered projects, I like to make useful gifts from time to time. I know that Teacher Appreciation Day is only few weeks ahead I plan to make several of this to give away. I got this blank notepad from my local craft store and dressed it up with Prima's brand new Madeline Paper Collection.
Supplies for "Thanks-Teacher Card":
Did I tell you that I LOVE making cards just to brighten someone up?
Supplies for "I Love You" Card:
Supplies for "Thank You" Card:
I think that’s enough about me, feel free to stop at my blog and thank you for giving me a chance to share my life. ~ Liana

A touch of lace, a bit of crystal, and a few pure white flowers make the perfect Easter card!

Birgit Koopsen used our latest Songbirds, flowers, and lace trim to create this gorgeous table centerpiece.
Aren't those speckled eggs adorable?

Palette 52 is luscious choice derived from one of our newest floral packs-De Soie-546632! (Did I mention they have a stunning sketch each week too?)
Sharon Laakkonen was TCR's first ever guest designer in honor of their first anniversary! She created this beautiful tribute to her mom using those delicious colors for "Her Room".

April's Build-A-Page is here!
Got a star photo that needs loads of attention? Well this is the sketch to use it on! April's BAP leaves lots of gorgeous white space around that one special photo area and includes a fun embellishment area lending a trendy look to the whole page.
Want to play along with us? Simply send your Prima-based project to us by April 30th, 2011, for a chance to win some amazing Prima products. Send projects to: sharon@primamarketinginc.com. Please include "BAP April" in the subject line.
Our design team has had a chance to play along and here are a few lovely samples from them!
Stacy Cohen uses lots of gorgeous, bold colors on this stunning page. A dark background is the perfect way to let the colors shine, while the crystal-lace border puts the star finishing treatment on the sweet design!
Supplies:
Leena Loh uses lots of beautiful white space to surround her vertical design. What a great way to use paper scraps and border punches! A few pops of golden yellow and rich burgundy add stunning color to the page.
Supplies:
Janine Koczwara flipped her sketch so the paper strips run horizontally. Then she distressed each edge to create amazing texture and visual interest. Ground everything with a lovely paper design and add flowers, ferns and butterflies for a layout worth framing.
Supplies:
Trina McClune beautifully scrapbooks a tender subject while placing the single precious photo on a framed paper backdrop. A cluster of flowers and coordinating elements on the right side ground the photo and pull your eye in.
Supplies:
Alyssa McGrew creates a very touching page celebrating her precious daughter! Using just a few strips of paper and lace Alyssa centers the elements equally to create gorgeous balance on her page.
TIP: Use a lid, or other round article, for fun stamped circles to cut out for your page!
Supplies:
Finally, Liana Suwandi uses a large patterned paper to ground her photo while adding whimsical elements around the page. A few flowers in various sizes add lovely texture and color to the design, while a journaling strip balances the layout.

Then we may very well have a few solutions for getting those photos out of a box and on to a page! Check out the design team's fresh multi-photo layouts. We hope they provide some creative and inspiring ways to get a whole bunch of photos on your page!
Trina McClune included one long landscape shot on this stunning page...then she added a few accent photos (in color) to really pop off the page. What a FUN way to show off your holiday traditions and include more than one photo on a page.
TIP: To create a 12 inch wide photo without a large format printer: Print two 4x6 shots and layout them side by side across the page butting the edges. You will get the 12 inch look for a lot less money!
............................................................................................................................................
We all know how it goes when you are the main photographer in the family, right? Well, Alyssa McGrew finally got a gorgeous shot of herself and decided to scrapbook it too! By enlarging one of the photos she created a fabulous focal point and added an artsy touch to the page.
TIP: If you do not print your photos at home you can get the smaller size shown on Alyssa's page by bring your photo to a printer and have them make two photos from a wallet-sized print.
...............................................................................................................................................
Anabelle O'Malley brings a bold, colorful layout that just puts a smile on your face! See how she was able to scan her finished layouts in, reduce the size, and then print them out as photos to make a NEW layout about her wonderful hobby.
TIP: Scan or photo your finished layouts. You can then re-print them as needed for special projects, or to frame on your wall.
..................................................................................................................................................
Liana Suwandi squeezed in tons of photos on this birthday page without overwhelming her sweet design! Liana also pulled out one main photo as her focus...this lends balance and a fun focal point to the layout.
TIP: Use the index prints you get everytime you go to a printer! Just cut them apart and use them on layouts or a mini-album.
