Prima and Maiko Kosugi!

Today's designer is all the way from Tokyo, Japan! Maiko Kosugi adds so much to our team with her very feminine, very-full layouts that are reminiscent of a gorgeous blooming garden!

.......................................................................................

Hi everyone!
1maiko

My name is Maiko Kosugi. (Also known as Mai*) I am so honored to be a part of Prima Design Team with such wonderful people. Thank you so much Prima!!

I live in Tokyo, Japan with my family.
We live in a beautiful town located 30 minutes by train from the center of the city. Where we live, there is a lot of nature compared to the big city and my children love to play in the wide park near our house every day.
2Tokyo

I am married to a professional violinist and together we have 2 adorable sons, 3 and 8 years old.
I am currently working as a piano teacher to children at home. I have about 20 students and I am so happy to feel their growth through my lessons:)

I started scrapbooking in March 2009, and it has become my favorite hobby ever since.
My husband and I both love to take photos of our sons. I love to scrapbook because we can decorate our precious photos in a very beautiful way.
I get inspiration from my son's smiles and from beautiful products.
I always use a lot of Prima flowers for my work. Flowers are indispensable to my work.
My parents also loves flowers. Various flowers are in blossom in the garden of my parent's house all year round. This garden also gives my a lot of inspiration for my work.
3garden

I grew up watching the flowers everyday.
I think that is why I love flowers:)
This is a photo of my parent's garden. I always image a flower garden with my son's photos when creating something.
And here are my creations made with 2011 Summer collections.

I especially love the flowers that have wires on them. It is because the flowers can freely change their direction and natural movement can be expressed when placing them on to creations.
I usually pile up many flowers on my layouts so they always become very thick and heavy! lol
I coordinate the flowers to use from what color my sons are wearing in the photos and from the beautiful papers. I usually combine about 3-4 colors of flowers for my layouts.

Prima and Leslie Ashe!

Leslie Ashe is new to our team this year, so we are excited to show off her fun projects with you! We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

.......................................................................................

Meincolor (2)

Hi there, everyone! I’m Leslie Ashe & I live in Fort Worth, Texas (home of the Stockyards, the best Tex Mex ever & some serious HEAT!) with my husband, Alan. We’ve been married 21 years (yes, I started young!)

...and we are blessed with 2 of the most amazing kids – Savannah (who’s 20) and Shaypher (just turned 19). They both just headed off to their colleges which makes us have something we’re not quite used to yet...an empty nest. It’s been quite an adjustment around here...hard to get used to. At least we know there’s always holidays, fun weekend visits or trips to see them anytime we can. I’m just glad they’re both in Texas!

Even though they’re off to their own schools, doing their own thing, I’ve become busier than when I was a stay-at-home mom taking them everywhere they needed to be. Funny  how that works.  I LOVE our crazy, busy life.  I’m not sure I’d know what to do with a day where busy wasn’t part of it.  It’s what completes me...living the life we love. Crazy or not! ;D

Some fun facts about me:

  • My newest accessory, my iPhone is attached to me at all times. I can’t put it down! It’s an addiction. My guilty pleasure, that’s for sure!
  • I was a preschool teacher for many years. I LOVED teaching then...it was such fun. My kids went to the same preschool and later would come help me with my class. I loved those days!
  • I met, fell in love & married my sweet husband 21 years ago & he still makes my heart skip a beat! Not a lot of people know this but he moved from beautiful California to Texas...just for me.
  • Contrary to popular belief, I didn’t name my daughter Savannah because of the movie “Savannah Smiles”. I had a totally different name picked out actually, then while driving through Georgia, it hit me...and stuck!
  • I’m a HUGE book junkie. I love book stores, I love the smell of books, I love reading. when I’m not scrapping, that’s what you’d find me doing. Curled up with a good book in my fave chair.
  • Starbucks is my downfall in any season. (just give me a non fat, no whip, caramel frap or a passion tea lemonade & I’m a happy girl.) The smell in there is divine!
  • Even though I’m blind without my glasses, I’d never have lasik done. I live for cute glasses...I know, weird!

Scrapbooking is my life! I love it. I’ve been doing it now for over 16 years. I’ve seen so many styles come and go. Especially mine! I started by going to a scrapbook party with a friend and just never looked back.

I became HOOKED. I’ve actually been doing it my whole life, being inspired by my mom at a young age. I used to watch her take our photos and put them in memory books.  She’d tell me all the stories of each picture and what it meant to her.  Through the years, I kept memory books of my years growing up. Yes I even had a book full of just....stickers.  I love the memory my mom gave me and I have carried that on to my children.

Although I wish I had a definite scrapbook “style”, I’m not quite sure I do.  I wouldn’t know what to call it other than sassy with a little bit of shabby?!
I love color. I am so inspired by bright, fun colors and textures.  I love layers. Clusters too. If I could layer and cluster everything I came across, I would. My inspiration comes from my photo’s, or places I’ve been, websites I’ve visited and/or clothing ads...I love to be inspired by everyday things.

.....................................................................................
Let me share a couple of creations I made for the Prima booth at CHA this summer.

First up is a layout of my beautiful daughter, Savannah:

PSavannah1wm

The colors in the Romantique line just screamed “GORGEOUS.”. I love the bold patterns, the beautiful floral design & the colors..they are divine!
PSavannahclose

A technique I used here:  I backed the beautiful heart with paper. I think it gave it that extra pop of dimension that is just what my layout called for.
I then added more and more flowers plus a sentiment sticker for the final touch.

My background was made using a Prima mask & spray mist. I love the effect it gave – I was trying to draw attention to my daughter’s photograph.

Have you SEEN the gorgeous, colorful, whimsy Ruby Violet? I about DIED when I saw this fabulous line. It’s just fun, full of color and I couldn’t wait to create with the papers and beautiful accessories.

I created 3 little notebooks for any girl to carry in her purse, bag or just keep out on the desk to use anytime:

See what I mean about fun and whimsical?
I put each notebook together with a different theme in mind – but somehow tie to each other to send a message:  have a “happy lovely life”.

Prima and Trina McClune

Trina McClune is coming to us all the way from New Zealand! Trina is just a joy to work with and we were very happy to have her on our team for a second term!

....................................................................................

Hi, I'm Trina.

Image002

I've loved Prima for many years now. So it was with utter astonishment and joy that I accepted a position on the DT last year. To be offered another chance this year was my ultimate scrapbooking dream and I feel extraordinarily privileged to be part of this amazing group of women.

Image001

Above is my favourite Prima LO from the recent CHA show. I just adored the prettiness of the Pixie Glen line. The colours are muted and soft. So beautiful. It's also perfect for someone like me who likes to cut and layer.

Prima supplies:

  • 843229 – Pixie Glen Cornwall
  • 843182 – Pixie Glen Pyske Cuts
  •  550073 – Alphabet Stickers
  • 551582 – SIIC
  • 890797 – Resin Bird House
  • SA-002/1 – Mini Roses
  • 552091 – Meredith Mer
  • 551674 – Fleur De Lys
  • 553227 – Flower Market Pixie Glen
  • 551841 – Crystal Palace
  • 552602 – Jardinere Pixie Glen

I thought that since I introduced myself in THIS post last year, I'd chat more about my LOs, and how I create.

I don't know about you, but I often need something to inspire me... a photo or story usually. I initially started this wonderful hobby as a way to record all the little things that happened as my family grew and changed (I have a terrible memory!!!) and while I often do 'pretty' pages without any journaling, you'll usually find handwritten journaling on the back hidden away, but still saved. So I start with the photo and grow from there.

Image003

The above couldn't be more true for this layout using the gorgeous Printery line. I'm not the best photographer, but adore these pictures of my youngest son, Daniel.

Having the photos in front of me, sitting looking at them wondering what story I would tell, the journaling just came to me. I knew that one day I'd forget these feelings. And I knew I wanted them recorded.

Next it was a matter of putting it all together. I love to layer, and you can see through the middle I've punched and layered 5 times.

Image004

Then it's time to cluster....this is another way I create on my LO's and in this instance I've created a couple of smaller clusters. Because the papers are quite 'neutral' in colour, I pulled the blue from the photo and used that as a 'pop' colour. I think it also helped make this LO look masucline, even though there are flowers used.

Image005

Prima Supplies:

  • 843526 – Printery Page 4
  • 843519 – Printery Signature
  • 843540 – Printery Love Ledger
  • 843489 – Printery Emperor
  • 551100 – Antique Mirror
  • 552770 – Carlotta Blue Pearl
  • SA-002/1 – Mini Roses
  • 552688 – Sherwood Rose Truffle
  • 551247 – Chipboard Stickers
  • 552527 – Essentials Printery
  • 890704 – Resin

I also love to create off the page items. I must admit I don't find it easy, but when the inspiration hits, I love the crafty feel to it.

For CHA, I created this hat using cardstock, Prima and lots of adhesive.

Image006
I had seen a hand made hat in an origami book and decided I could use the idea but zhoosh it up a bit with Prima's gorgeous papers and embellishments.

Prima Supplies:

  • 843434 – Romantique Estella

Prima also makes the most fun mini albums. This CHA I used their canvas purse...

Image008

I wanted to create an album that I could add to as time goes by. It's got little bits and pieces about me in it... Since having children I have this weird fear they will grow up knowing little about me, and how much I love them and their father. I hope creating albums like this will help my fear, but also should the worst happen, the memories will be there for them.

Prima and Stacy Cohen!

Today we welcome back the talented Stacy Cohen! Stacy is back on our team for another fabulous year together. Let's jump right in and see what she has for us today.

........................................................................................

Stacy headshot

I'm tickled pink to be on the Prima Design Team for another term!!!

I introduced myself here on the Prima blog in this post last December, so I won't repeat myself.   But here are the basics:

I'm from Los Angeles, California, married to my wonderful hubby for 10 years, and we have two darling daughters, ages 7 and 9. Some random facts about me:

  1.  I am the slowest scrapper in the world. I usually spend three (sometimes four!) nights on one layout.  And that's not because I spend a lot of time adding little details or doing intricate techniques (sometimes I do and sometimes I don't).  It's because I'm VERY indecisive.  It can often take me a whole hour just to decide how I want to arrange a small flower cluster.
  2. I can't start my day without my morning cup(s) of coffee.
  3. I used to be an entertainment lawyer, but now I work part-time in the insurance business and get to be a SAHM most of the time. Changing careers was the best decision I ever made.
  4. I have the sense of humor of a 9-year-old boy.  Things that make me giggle:  bodily functions, people falling down, etc.
  5. I am madly in love with our two adorable kitties, Smokey and Lucy.
  6. I have a problem with inappropriate laughter, and once I start laughing I often can't stop (not a good combination with number 4 above).
  7. I'm a reality show junky.
  8. I went to cooking school in Paris one summer when I was in college, but these days I don't do any gourmet cooking at all (though I do make a mean macaroni and cheese from scratch).
  9. I scrap at night after my girls go to sleep, and I usually take a break around 9pm to have a bowl of Dreyer's ice cream -- half Peanut Butter Cup and half Cookie Dough . . . yum!

Here are some projects I created for the Prima booth at CHA.  The first one is a set of altered embroidery hoops.

I cut three circles of white fabric and misted them with a rainbow of colors.  I then added a plethora of color-coordinated flowers, leaves, a butterfly and a bird from the beautiful new collections.  I plan to hang these on my scraproom wall.
....................................................................................
Here's a layout I made with the gorgeous new Printery line.

I love to do fussy cutting, so I cut out the flowery edge of this paper from the Printery collection.  I used a black gel pen to add definition to the details of the black flowers, then I outlined them with Stickles glitter glue.  I misted some plain gauze and tucked it under the flowery edge:

...................................................................................

I know some people have asked about ways to use Prima's cool new Writer's Tape.  For this page I printed my journaling on it.

Here's the step-by-step:

1.  Print the journaling on paper first.

Note:  I knew that I was going to pop up my journaling strips with 3D adhesive, so I printed the journaling on cardstock to provide a stiff backing.  Alternatively you could back the strips with cardstock after printing.

2.  Adhere the strips of the Writer's Tape directly over the journaling.  Trim the strips to size.

Note:  I peeled off the back of the Writer's Tape and adhered it directly to the cardstock since I planned to cut the strips out with the cardstock backing attached.  If you want to preserve the sticky backing of the Writer's Tape to use directly on your project, you can adhere the tape to your printed paper with removable adhesive.

3.  Feed the paper through the printer again (for demonstration purposes, I only covered one line).   Using normal print settings, the print will be much lighter on the tape due to the texture of the fabric.   To insure that the ink is dark enough when it prints out on the tape, change your printer settings to increase the contrast and/or ink intensity.  You might need to play around with this a little bit to see what setting works best on your own printer.

4.  Ink the edges (optional):

5.  Finally, adhere the strips to your layout.  As mentioned, the cardstock backing allowed me to adhere the strips with 3D pop dots.

Prima and Trudi Harrison!

Today we are excited to introduce Trudi Harrison from Australia to you! Trudi's projects are always beautifully executed and filled with delightful little details!

.....................................................................................

A little about Me....

I am Trudi Harrison from Victoria, Australia. I am pretty much a 'country' girl at heart who very much likes her modern conveniences. I live in a small country town an hour out from the city of Melbourne with my 2 girls, husband and 2 'fur' boys. Presently I am a SAHM majoring in 'domesticated engineering', but in a previous life 'before children' (BC), I was involved with the optics industry. Since the birth of my girls, I have also undertaken Early Childhood studies which I am part way through. Presently the studies are deferred but it is my intention to return to them once my youngest is school age.

Over time there have been many hobbies which I have enjoyed. I adore all things beautiful and creative. Without a doubt though, Paper Crafting has become the one for which I am truly passionate about. This passion has indeed burned brightly for the last 6 years. 'Officially' I have been paper crafting since the birth of my first daughter in 2004. Though I have to also say that from a somewhat younger, I always enjoyed recording family holidays and events in a diary and of course these had to be decorated.

I would say that I am perhaps not 'locked' into a specific scrapping style. At times it can be a touch feminine and perhaps quite structured with lots of layering, paper cutting, dimension and detail.

Prima and Jamie Dougherty!

Today is a bittersweet day!

Jamie Dougherty is an amazing designer who has been on our team for over a year now. Due to her talent and teaching abilities she has recently joined our fabulous Educator Team,  so she will be stepping down from our Design Team.

We are sad for ourselves, but so happy for Jamie and all of those lucky stores she will be teaching at! We wish you the best of luck, Jamie!

Hi.  I'm Jamie Dougherty.  I was lucky enough to be asked back to the team for a second year.  And when I thought it was a dream the first time they asked me, the second time was downright unbelievable.  I was so honored to be asked back with such an amazing team.

I live in southern CA in a small town called Ramona.  I am thankful to have been raised here and still reside with my husband of eleven years and our two littles.  You will often see their faces grace my scrapbook pages.  We live near my family so a lot of time is spent together as a family.  Which is one the greatest gifts I could ask for. Besides scrapbooking I love to read, and I mean A LOT, I also write.  I enjoy spending time at the river.  Soaking up the sun and swimming.  With me if it is not art related it is family related.

I started scrapbooking in 2006 when my daughter was born, but I have always been involved in some aspect of art.  I learned to paint and sew very young.

My grandmothers were both very crafty and artistic, and I am thankful they encouraged those traits in me. I studied fine arts and sculpting in High School and trades school.  I loved the aspect of three dimensional art and feel it has helped me in what I do not with my scrapbooking and mixed media. My style isn't really set in one category.  It somewhat varies on whatever idea that pops into my crazy head. I sometimes think that my imagination has a mind of it's own lol I love to try new techniques and ideas.  Even if they don't always turn out the way i hoped at least I tried. Thank you for stopping by and getting to know me a little bit better.
Here are a few project that I have made this year.

Prima and Steph Devlin!

Today we have a wonderful designer from Australia to introduce to you. Steph Devlin brings a fresh, gorgeous, feminine style to all of her projects and we are so happy to have her on our team! .........................................................................................

Natural

I’m Steph Devlin, scrapbooker, mum of 2, friend, wife and artist. I live in beautiful Adelaide, Australia, a really wonderful place to live. My little family consists of 2 gorgeous girls, Emma (8) and Madison (4). They are like Day and Night both in looks and in personalities, and the main focus of my scrapbooking.  I have a gorgeous spouse named Mark, who I love dearly who I have been married to for 14 years.  The last member of our immediate family, is a neurotic maltese/poodle dog named "Shakespeare", named after my love for all things related to the great bard, William Shakespeare.

Some facts about me:

  • I was a full-time dancer, starting at the age of 3, and I hold a Degree in Choreography.
  • We lived in Sydney, Australia for 8 years, where I freelanced as an independent artist, dancing, and choreographing for dance and drama productions.
  • I have worked as an Qualified Interior Designer and always have been obssessed with Color.
  • My birthday is 27th of February the same as Elizabeth Taylor.  I only wish we had the similar bank accounts.
  • Mad about movies, and often find myself at the pictures - its my one indulgence after scrapbooking.
  • I love kind people, people who edify others and friends that listen.  I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls and I believe in miracles.
  • Like Audrey Hepburn, I believe in Pink, that laughing is the best calorie burner and and in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong.

My scrapping style is very feminine, eclectic and clean. I love using hybrid images on my work, especially text, and have a obsession with blooms and all things pretty. I scrap as an expression of my art, but REVEL the fact that my designs can surround images of my girls who I adore.  I can go from Pastel to Bright Colors in a instant, but my heart belongs to Shabby Chic.

I have been scrapbooking for 8 years now.  When I had Emma, my artistic direction changed, and I felt that I finally wanted to settle and seek out new interests.  I remember being at a Craft Fair and seeing scrapbooking, and thinking I could give it a go.  The rest is history.  I scrap nearly every day now, and can't imagine my life without it.

I just want to share a project that I created last year for the DT call. I have used the amazing Donna Downey canvas to cover the mask and applied mod podge over the surface. This product makes the canvas supple and easy to mould into the many nooks and crevices that make up the mask.

Mask3WM

I have decorated the mask with some beautiful Prima Flowers, Baubles and Butterflies.  I felt the mask needed dimension so I hot glue gunned some really plush feathers and tulle to add dimension and texture.  I love the way it turned out.

Lastly I just want to share a layout that I created for Prima's CHA Summer booth! As soon as I saw the Pixie Glen paper line, it just screamed true love at me! I adore the subtle pinks and blues gently mixed with the neutrals.  It truly is a beautiful line, and I just had to scrap this photo of my oldest daughter Emma ..... it was just perfect for this project.

Simple&SweetHM

My heart also belongs to Ingvild's Resins, it missed a beat when I was first showed images of them.  You will find these gorgeous shabby chic resins everywhere on my projects.

Prima and Hege Lundquist!

We have a wonderfully talented gal to introduce to you today! Hege Lundquist is a fabulous scrapper who brings an amazing style to our team. She comes all the way from Norway!

......................................................................................

Hi everyone! I'm Hege A. Lundquist. The other norwegian girl :-) I'm turning 31 years young (!) soon and I live with my boyfriend and our beautiful children in the middle of Norway. We have 2 boys aged 11 and 6, and a little girl, 3 years old. I work as a nurse mostly as night guard in homes for disabled people. I absolutely love my job.

Some not so important facts about me: -I am a people person, love to be around friends and family as often as I can. -I'm extremly tired in the morning. Love the late nights.. -If I'm at a party, I never get home until the morning. -I am very laidback, it takes a lot to get me stressed out. -I'm addicted to Pepsi Max and coffee -I color my hair often, from dark to blond to dark to blond again. -I just started playing handball again after a break of 15years :-P

I discovered the joy of scrapbooking about 6 years ago when I was pregnant with my youngest son.  What a wonderful hobby. I have met a few of my best friends through this hobby and I'm so grateful for it. I love how my kids love their albums. They often sit and look in them. I do scrap a lot. But always by myself. I never attend gatherings and classes. And I have only taught one single class myself. I don't know what to call my scrappy style. I always use white bakground, I seem to do a lot of cluster. Love bright colors and flowers! I always have some mist splatters on my layouts. I consider myself a simple scrapper. I don't use alot of difficult techniques.

I made this layout of my youngest son for CHA. Love the natural colors on the printery line, the line is so great for both boys and girls, Just adding some poppin' colors on the embellishments.

Materials: #550103 - 8"x10" Alphabeths - printery #551186 - Tiny treasures - lock keys #843489 - Emperor - printery collection #843526 - Page four - printery collection #550165 - 12"x12" Alphabeths - printery #550820 - Flocked rubons - printery #551612 - Resistant canvas - printery #552527 - Essentials 11 - printery #553296 - Coventry rose - printery #550004 - Masks #551667 - Fleur de lys - spring #553050 - Bristo blooms - teal Tattered angels glimmermist - graphite

Girly layouts are my favorite to do. Pink, light blue and yellow are my best colors to work with. With some small touches of black. On this one I've used the brick mask and paint to get this pink wall in the background.

I never use the papercutter, I like the effect it gives when i tear the patterned paper.

Mostly I use 3D glue to put some dimentions in my layouts.

Corrugated cardboard gives a nice touch to lift the pictures in front of the layout.

Materials: #843212 - Devon - pixie glen collection #550011 - Mask #552633 - Bretton vines - purity #551643 - Resistant canvas - pixie glen #890797 - Resin  - bird houses #553364 - Cartier - smoke #552985 - Gillian - aqua #553067 - Bristo blooms - ruby #552893 - Ceylon - white wedding #553050 - Bristo blooms - teal #550172 - 12"x12" Alphabets - pixie glen #551216 - Chipboard - pixie glen Tattered angels glimmermist - sea glass

Pictures of my little girl on our summer vacation. I've used tattered angels glimmermist and a mask to get the feeling of a blue sky in the top of the layout.

This cute bridge gives a great detail between the pictures.

I didn't use any black on this layout. I wanted to get a dreamy feeling on it instead.

Materials: #843236 - Dartmoor - pixie glen collection #843748 - 12"x12" - Ledger #552077 - Meredith - natural #552930 - Melody - rose #552923 - Melody - white #553050 - Bristo blooms - teal #552985 - Gillian - aqua #552961 - Gillian - raspberry #551629 - Resistant canvas - Alla Prima #551636 - Resistant canvas - romantique #550172 - 12"x12" Alphabets - pixie glen #544232 - 8"x10" Alphabeth stickers  - white #882136 - Masks  glimmermist - sea glass

Prima and Stacey Young!

Today we have a talented designer all the way from Australia to show off! We hope you enjoy meeting Stacey Young and getting a small taste of her gorgeous artsy designs.

......................................................................................

Me-ps

Hi Everybody,

I'm Stacey Young. I'm 29 years old (but fast approaching 30 at the end of the year). I live in the industrial town of Gladstone, on the Central Queensland coast of Australia. My husband and I have been married for 8 and a half years, he was my high school sweetheart:) I am now a stay at home Mummy to 3 darling little boys. They fill my days with joy and love but also tantrums and cheekiness. I love taking photos of them, I'm not the greatest photographer, in fact I don't think I have much of a clue, just point, shoot and hope for the best. I think my editing skills might be a little better!!

I have been scrapbooking for the best part of 7 years now. I only became more involved in it after my first son was born 4 years ago. Hubby then thought it would be a good idea to put me into the spare room and remove all of the growing products and supplies from the living area;) I have always had a love for art and before finding scrapbooking I painted on canvas, mainly murals and underwater scenes. I have in the past 8 months gone back to creating on canvas but this time its mixed media.

I definately have a "style". I am not sure what to call it, if you have any ideas let me know!! But it is definately busy, bold and colourful. I love to fill every inch of the page with product, paint, material and twine. I love to add layers and layers of texture and embellishments thus unfortunately making it hard for me to store my layouts. My style has evolved over the years and I look back to my very first layouts and it just makes you realise how much the scrapbooking industry has grown.

I am a bit of a "shy scrapper" having never scrapped with anybody else nor have I taught a class. I just go into my own little world when I create, it's rather therapeutic. I take about 2.5 to 3 hours to create a page. I do hope to share my techniques and "style" one day when I pluck up the courage!!

Stacey Sunkissed

I have an amazing love for creating scenes in my layouts. I especially love to collect little treasures from the beach with the boys and add them into my layouts. I ink and paint everything to suit my colour schemes. I also love adding bits of mesh, hessian and bandage wrap to add to the beach effect.

I love to create and layer banners, they are so much fun!

As mush as I adore colour I am challenging myself lately with using different and softer palettes. I am truly loving where they are taking me although my number 1 love will always be bright, happy colour:)

I cluster and layer all my embellishments. I always place everything in position first and then I will take everything right back off my page and start to adhere from the bottom layer up (once I am satisfied everything is in the right spot.)

?

I love to tear and distress my papers. I do all of this by hand and don't own many tools or punches. Probably not the easiest or quickest way but it's my way. Not a layout goes by without using my inks, mists and paints.

AnnaMarie Mondro and Prima!

Today we are so excited to introduce AnnaMarie Mondro, from the US, to you! AnnaMarie's layouts are fun and fresh, and often have adorable whimsical touches to them. So...come on and meet AnnaMarie!

.....................................................................................

SO excited to share my first post here on the Prima blog! :)

My name is AnnaMarie (yes, one word with a capital M, no middle name!) Mondro, and I live in the small town of Pinckney, Michigan. I’ve been happily married to my husband (and biggest supporter of my scrappy hobby!) John for 19 years (!), and we have four beautiful, wonderful kidlets: Abigail – 9.5 y.o., Sophie – 8 y.o., Lucas – 5 y.o., and Joshua – 18 months, as well as a crazy little Sheltie of 8 years, Zoe.  I am a busy (and happy!) stay-at-home Momma, and my other interests include running, photography, gardening, reading (HUGEST book lover ever!!), listening to music, and playing on my iPhone (a very addicting guilty pleasure!

Some facts about me:

  • I have a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (which comes in VERY handy with 4 kids. ;))
  • I used to train and show my dogs in competition obedience, as well as teach competition obedience classes to novice students.
  • Like Finn, my fellow DT member, I am an AVID drinker of tea. NO coffee, just tea. Red Rose to be specific. I have to start my day off with a cup, and end it the same way.
  • I am NOT a morning person. At all. :-P The bulk of my scrapping (and reading and cleaning and so on!) takes place in the wee hours when little hands and bodies are tucked in their beds for the night!
  • I’m half Thai, but am not a fan of Thai food. :-P
  • I have a fear of flying.
  • Target store junkie. Oh MY.
  • Yes I am a GLEEK – big-time Glee fan. LOVE!

As to how I got started in scrapbooking, I had a close friend who was a scrapper and she was always trying to get me interested in it, but it wasn’t until after the birth of my second daughter that I became more interested in the idea of preserving memories on paper as opposed to simply filing away pictures into a photo album. I signed up with my friend for a couple classes at the LSS and quickly fell in love with patterned paper and embellishments…the rest is history!

My style: I love color and texture and dimensionality and details  - and especially love to play with layers and bits and pieces! I am inspired by photos of my children, colors and seasons, and all things pretty. :) I am also a border punch junkie – LOVE my border punches and will find any excuse to use them on a layout!

Now...onto a couple layouts I created for Prima's CHA Summer booth! :) As soon as I saw the Romantique paper line, I was in LOVE! I knew the happy and sweet colors would complement well these photos of my daughters sharing a sweet moment of their own.

Anne Jo Lexander and Prima!

Anne Jo Lexander is one of our very talented design team members from Norway! We hope you enjoy getting to know her (and her work) a bit better!

...................................................................................

Hello there!

Ania_new_500

I’m Anne Jo Lexander, mostly called Ania by friends and close family, and I live at the West Coast of Norway, on a small Island right outside Norway’s second biggest city. I live here with my husband and our two children, work at the local newspaper and enjoy hobbies as photography and scrapbooking outside the work. Oh, and I’ve long ago passed the age of 30, yet still gets asked for an ID to make sure I’m an adult…even when I have my kids around. Gotta love it. I think.

Being on the Prima-team is a dream come true, but that goes without saying, doesn’t it? I feel like the odd one out, but hey, I’m truly humbled and glad to be here and that Prima chose to have a team with diverse styles included!

While I started out as a scrapbooker approx six years ago, I’ve lately tried my hand on cardmaking and doing little bits of this and that. I think I spend my time doing half layouts, half other scrappy stuff these days.

I’m a very quick, yet slow, scrapbooker. The slow-reason is mainly because I get easily distracted, working for like two (or maybe not even that long) minutes on a project before “just having” to check out stuff on the web – then poof – I’m gone from the project for ten, fifteen minutes. If I was more effective I guess I could have gotten lots more done. But then again, I think this laidback style of scrapping suits me :)

What else is there to know about me? Hm. Not much. I wish I was better at the home-interior thing (truth is – I don’t even make an effort. Wish I had that gene though!), better at cleaning up, organizing and exercising (once again…I don’t really make an effort at these areas either, so maybe I shouldn’t complain)….hmm..what am I good at? I am good at loving my children. I am good at letting them know they are loved, no matter what. I am fairly good at cooking. Hm. Oh, I’m trying to get better at using more colors in my clothing! Hmm. Guess I’ll end this before you get too bored! Thanks for letting me introduce myself! :)

One of my favorite things has been working with smaller canvases, mainly without pictures, like this little one I created for CHA-S.

Ania_canvas

It measures about four by four inches, and I’ll admit – when I saw these chipboard-pieces from the North Country-collection I immediately thought of creating a little snowy, starry landscape with it and some jazz blue glimmer mist...and I couldn’t believe it actually turned out just like I imagined it beforehand (that, my friends, rarely happens to me! “Funny” accidents and disappointments usually happen…haha.) The canvas was white in advance, so all I had to do was to hold my hand as a shield for the whiteness (the snow) and spray the blue mist a few times from the top and downwards. I then used the flocked rub-ons (LOVE this product!), rubbed off a tree and some snowflakes then adhered the deers and gems onto the canvas.

Ania_canvas3

The flower was made more yellow and shiny by spraying gold glimmermist onto it before adhering it to the top.

Ania_canvas2

And as for the awesome, vintage-y buttons? I glazed clear distress crackle paint upon them to give them a more worn look. Simple yet effective.

Prima Supplies:

North Country Flocked rubons – 550851
buttons – 550431
buttons – 550448
North Country chipboard – 551254
siic – 551360
siic – 551438
flower - 553296

Other:

glimmer mist - chalkboard (chalk), jazz blue, gold (for the flower)
Rangers Distress Crackle paint - clear rock candy

I’d also like to share my favorite layout from the CHA-S stuff I did for Prima.

Ania_layout4

I usually have layouts with more than two photos on it, but this one is still my favorite. The reasons I love it? The photo of my family laughing heartily. My darling nephew, newly baptised.

Ania_layout4_cu2

The gorgeous blue star vine.

Ania_layout4_cu4

The subtle whitewashing of the papers to make it more fit a baby boy (haha!) And the journaling/title, which just about sums it all. The lovely, blue glitter hearts.

Ania_layout4_cu3

The versatile canvas letters – I simply love this size! And the look when you don’t take out the “holes” in the letters.

Ania_layout4_cu1

And oh, not to mention – the fact that I got a new sewing machine after being one plus month without since the old one gave in for good!

Prima Supplies:

Romantique paper – 843441
Romantique paper – 843458
Romantique paper – 843465
Romantique paper – 843410
Romantique paper – 843472

Canvas letters - 550066 & 550097

Thanks for looking! ~Ania

Emeline Seet and Prima....

Come meet talented Emeline all the way from Singapore! She has a gorgeous feminine style and a way with embellishing projects perfectly while using white space to her advantage!

....................................................................................

Image

In my household, I am the manager and human resource personnel. I manage my household, in charge of my family's well being round the clock. It gives me great satisfaction and fulfillment. In between pockets of time, I allow myself to be drowned in my own world of paper crafting. Not only does it recharge me, it gives me an outlet to direct my creative energy. Right before my stay-at-home mom days, I was in the banking and finance industry and swopped my heels to slippers (well, wedges ....) willingly and very gladly.

I have been involved with paper crafting for almost 7 years. Like most scrappers, it was because I wanted to document specific milestones in my life. Almost 7 years ago, my passion for paper and glue came about together with the birth of our eldest daughter.

Besides being a full time mom, I teach creative workshops on a regular basis at my local store and overseas. It gives me the opportunity to spread the love for papers ( and flowers!), but also the chance to meet different , supportive and encouraging beautiful ladies. This spurs me on to continue to create.

Emeline Romantique

My style tends to be fickle and evolving. One thing stays true, that is the use of white space on my layouts.

Literally white.

I am obsessed with the color and a simple dash of white is a MUST on my projects. (my home has been described once as scarily white too!). Evident from my projects, I am inclined towards layering, not only with pattern papers, but with embellishments. Most of the time, I layer with intention.

.....................................................................................

Also I love to have a balance of girly-grunge on my layouts and projects.

Besides incorporating my glimmer mist I, too, like to include inks and other mediums. I play along with my mood very often and when I am up to it, all my mediums and masks come out to play.

Emeline layout

I am constantly intrigued and marvel at the permutations of different color combinations.

Dabbling with new color combinations play a pretty important role when I scrap.

The challenge gives ample satisfaction and freshness. I am a pearl-gem kind of girl. Most of my layouts and projects cannot escape the sightings of these glamourous elements.

The simple addition of these add sparkle and instant glam to any projects!

Marie-Nicolas Alliot and Prima!

Marie-Nicolas Alliot recently joined the 2011 Prima Design Team and brings us a fresh new look all the way from France. Come meet her and take a peek at her gorgeous work!

...................................................................................

2

My name is Marie-Nicolas ALLIOT. On the net, I am also known by the name of maniscrap. I'm 32 and I live in Normandy, France, with my husband and four children. My mom taught me from when I was very small to tinker: sewing, painting, knitting, embroidery ... I love anything creative.

I have always been into photography. With my first check, I bought my first reflex camera, a Pentax film. Since then I have switched to digital. I enjoy learning every day to use it: play with the shutter speed, light, depth of field ... it is a real passion.

I discovered this hobby in 2007 after the birth of my third son. I had tinkered with his invitations and scrapbooking papers with my first stamps! Since then, my office has turned into a scraproom, and my time spent scrapping has increased. I love the escape it provides me and the meetings through the courses that I teach. It is always fun to look for new ideas to share. These exchanges bring me a lot!

If I had to define my scrap style in several words I would say: colorful, fun and happy! I love playing with color, material, ink! I use a lot of these to stamp and also spray. I love the spots! They bring the fantasy to my layouts. I am very pleased to use the masks by Prima! I love the effect they give. I have used them to create this mini album canvas:

IMGP4931

To use this with 2 colors: Put the masks on the canvas.

1

Put ink on the first part.

2

Remove the ink that is on your mask with paper towel so the colors of the inks do not mix.

3

Apply your second color. You can speed up the drying time with a heat gun.

4

For more fancy results, you can use two different masks with 2 colors. Place your first mask down and color.

6

Then put the empty space on the second mask with paper and hidden part already colorized. Then apply your second color.

7

8

With all the masks that Prima offers you have lots of possible combinations!

9

10

I love to use couture in my creations. And to play with embellishments. I like to play with the overlay effect. I'm a fan of clustering and mixing materials: fabric, paper, wood, metal and other ...

  • Flowers- #548469

..................................................................................

For this page I also use liquid inks to make my drips. I apply my color to the edge of the paper and I straightened the ink to flow. Sometimes I add a little water to soften the color.

IMGP4757

I love this fabric word. They are really interesting to give volume and texture to the page...and the color is fantastic!

IMGP4748

To give a final touch of color to my page: I added Says it in Crystals. I adore playing with this and adding to my spot!

IMGP4759

Finally-I glue cinderella gems under the roses for more fantasy!

Prima and Anna-Maria Wolniak!

Today we are going to meet the artistic Anna-Maria Wolniak, also from Poland!

..............................................................

AM

I am a little Renaissance person who by a total coincidence has found herself in the middle of commercial Europe.

I live in central Poland, not too far away from the seaside, quite close to the mountains. I am a Slavic soul, spiced with Mediterranean temperament, strengthened with Western courage, garnished with a Northern European type of beauty. Everything is so near, though distant at the same time, with common sense, moderation, tidiness, realistic view on the world and its issues scarcely being on my way.

This is what I’m like, undefined.

I describe myself as a Renaissance woman simply because I am passionately fond of all forms of art: theatre, architecture, painting, graphics, photography, dance, instrumental music. I like poetry as well, but, unfortunately, I wouldn’t be able to write anything of artistic value – I haven’t been endowed with that kind of talent. In terms of education, I am a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Lódz. Out of choice, I am a mother to an almost 4.5-year-old son Jas, a wife to a wonderful and terribly handsome man, and a mistress of a cosy, though tiny, flat on the 7th floor of a skyscraper.

I like walking barefoot on the grass and catching freckles in the late spring sun.

My scrapbooking adventure started about four years ago when my son was celebrating his first birthday. I got him a scrapbooking album as a gift and began to fill it with photos – it engrossed me so much that it became my passion; that was also the moment when I started writing my blog. I can’t really tell what I will be doing in ten years! I’m not sure if I will still be a part of the scrapbooking industry, although you never know. A few years ago I used to design jewellery, which was my everyday job, and I thought I would probably do that for the rest of my life. However, after some time I ended up with multiple boxes of materials used for the production of my jewellery. Today, I hardly ever return to that activity, I occasionally design something exclusively for myself to match a new dress. On the other hand, I am pretty sure I will not give up photography, nor painting. I hope that in that time the number of my family members will increase. I would also like to visit the corners of the world I still haven’t been to and meet new, fascinating people. I wish to see my family and myself healthy and happy, that’s all…

I usually begin with searching for any kind of inspiration: a picture, some fantastic scrapwork which has charmed me and urged to create something equally good, a view from the window, friends, a child, a funny situation.

I often get inspired by quotations, poems, melodies – I love music inspirations! I think they’re most amusing, they evoke my deepest emotions; in music I find the greatest number of colours, hues and shades. On the other hand, words acquaint me with distinct forms: either these very simple, inostensible or, on the contrary, these most sophisticated, baroque ones.

Next up:

We recently chose a fabulous new design team and we would love to have you get to know the gals and their work a bit better! We are starting off with the mega-talented Anna Dabrowska (AKA Finnabair) from Poland!

.......................................................................................

My name is Anna Dabrowska - Pekocka, but on the net I tend to use my nickname – Finnabair (pronounced Finavar) or Finn to make it shorter. I’m 31 at the moment, I live in Warsaw, Poland, with my dear, supportive husband – Jedrek, who understands my passion. We don't have children yet, but there's a lovable beagle and 2 parrots at our home. I work almost full time in a local Cultural Center as a teacher, PR worker and many many more in one, but I'm also teaching scapbooking and mixed-media classes in Poland and abroad. It gives me a lot of good energy, great experiences and satisfaction – I'm an educator, so I just love this kind of work. I like new challenges in my life, creating with friends, books, photography and I have to have a cup of black tea somewhere nearby;)

My “crafting story” is rather short: I've tried several techniques when I was studying at the university but at the end of 2007 I found information about scrapbooking and in 2008 I made my first pieces – and I fell in love. Next step was trying some altered art and mixed media - and my love got even deeper! Now I'm totally addicted - especially to layouts.

I'm a totally moody scraper and mixed media artist. I create different projects starting with grungy, eclectic through funky and freestyle and finishing on detailed collages, mixed-media canvases and altered art. It all depends on my current mood or source of inspiration. If I have to say which things are typical for my projects I'd say it is using of different medias – Glimmer Mists, gesso, gel mediums, inks combined with machine stitching and adding a lot of details. I'm in love with found objects, especially metal ones and I usually incorporate them into my creations, mixed with scapbooking embellishments like flowers, buttons and crystals. I prefer making my own custom background for the paper page or canvas layout.

My inspiration is everywhere: I love to collect everyday object and than giving them “the second chance” somewhere on my projects – their textures, shapes, colors are an endless source of inspiration. It is my way of life now: I can't stop thinking about creating, even when I'm tired there are some ideas coming to my mind. I just don't stop it and let it happen :) I believe that if you let yourself to have fun, look at the world with your eyes wide open – there's no other possibility – you have to be creative:) Most of the times my creations are impressions of that I feel at the moment or visualizations of some memories, ideas and plans. I hope people watching them can see that creating is fun for me, it is a way of expressing myself and giving a piece of my heart to others. I think the need and emotions are the best reasons for creating and as long as you feel pleasure doing this it is all right – you give a bit of happiness to yourself and – possibly – to the others. ~ Finn

Time 4 tea prima

The new beautiful "Romantique" paper line was my great inspiration for this page - I loved the colors, which brought to my mind the images of old laces, newspapers and ribbons in delicate, muted colors - treasures from  grandmother's attic. As usually, I used some of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists to cover my page with different shades of browns, greens and blacks.

Detail 1:
I love tapes and laces of different kind, so I couldn't resist using a lot of them in my project - they helped me a lot with building the layers and adding dome "extra touches" to the composition. I also mixed in some of my favorite found objects, which I call usually "rubbish" - gears and other clock's parts, some buttons, acrylic elements and wire. In my opinion - they work together perfectly with beautiful roses, flower petals and elegent shabby chic resins.

Detail 2:
As I said before, tea is my biggest addiction - I don't drink caffee at all, but 8 to 10 cups of tea during the day. I usually make fun of this habit and create journal pages and layouts inspired by tea  - with "tea" elements included. On this layout, next to gorgeous Prima flowers and crystals there are dried teabags formed into banner and some more of them peeking here and there. Simple idea - but very cool effect!

I think my favorite kind of creations are collage layouts - usually very rich in layers and details. Most of the times they reflect my emotions or are inspired by nature, art or literature. As they are very surrealistic, the composition is usually a suprising mix of natural and industrial elements, beautiful flowers, petals, leaves and branches with cold, metal, plastic or acrylic findings.

Winter night prima

This canvas is called "Winters' night" - I hope you'll enjoy spying all the elements I put on this creation :)

Detail 1:
I use tons of Prima flowers and leaves to create detailed, even messy collage which should bring into mind a fairy-tale character, whose hairstyle is an artisitic construcion of very different elements. To find a common ground for the nature and the industry I use a very narrow color palette, which helps to focus on the texture and detail instead of color scheme. I love cutting flowers and branches into pieces, using them in a different parts of the composition - they give so many possibilities and they look just beyond amazing. Prima products are just perfect for "altering" a bit and finding new ways of using them in the project!

The background is also made step by step with adding amany layers of fabirc, canvas and beautiful lace. If you are patient, you can get breathtaking effects with using just a bit of gesso, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and canvas torn into pieces - embellished a bit with tape and lace. Experimenting is fun and you'll be amazed with what you can do!

Shh prima

I love detailed, clustered look, but from time to time I also like to make something more flat, more traditional. To be honest - I'm not a great fan of patterned papers, but I do love patterns, which I can make by myself - with masks and stamps. Prima has got an amazing line of both of them and background stamps are surely to die for!  With a bit of Glimmer Mist, some ink and background stamps you can really make everything you want on the plain paper. I love crazy stamping  with several different patterns in the background - to finish the page you need just a bit of embellishments and you get a nice looking, freestyle and funky layout.

Detail 1:
What can be more exciting than a cotton tape mixed with crystals and a bit of metal brads? When you combine it with machine stitching the effect may be very interesting! The titles are cut out from Pixie Glen paper and they go beautifully with a color of the tape.

Detail 2:
To add even more metal you can always use your office supplies like staples or paper clip. To get more 3D effect use some foam tape with your paper elements.
