In my neck of the woods, it seems that we've skipped spring and have gone straight to summer. It's okay with me though. The winter was long enough and now I'm ready for balmy weather! And you will be too once you check out these layouts using our Summer Soiree Overlays.

Q: How long have you been scrapbooking?
A: I have been scrapbooking for almost 9 years since the birth of my son, Ryan.

Q: What kind of scrapper would you consider yourself to be?
A: I consider myself to be a linear scrapper. I love lines. I also love to add little details to my pages.

Q: What is your favorite Fancy Pants product?
A: My favorite Fancy Pants product has to be the patterned papers. I just love the designs and bright colors. A close second would be buttons ... they always seem to make their way onto my pages.

Q: What time of day do you usually scrapbook and where?
A: I usually scrapbook on weekends only. I work full time as a teacher, so my time is limited. It could sometimes be an all day thing on Sundays!

Q: Where do you find inspiration?
A: I find most of my inspiration from my photos. I almost always start my pages with pictures. The rest just seems to come together all on its own!

Thanks Denine!

Come back again tomorrow for more inspiration with our weekly

Product Spotlight: Buttons

This week we are spotlighting our Buttons. Each package contains 45 buttons in 5 different colors and 3 different sizes. They have been dyed to match their corresponding paper collection and they all coordinate beautifully with our older collections as well! I love using these buttons on all sorts of projects. They add the perfect touch of beautiful color!

Mari & Me by Anne Jo Lexander
Anne Jo simply lined some buttons up and stitched them across her layout for a beautiful and bright border!

Beautiful Fall Days by Brenda Hurd
Brenda created a lovely tree and adorned it with some of our buttons. Notice how she added some twine to a few of them. And check out the large button at the top of her page. She added a rub-on to it! Lovely!

Thanks by Nikki Bellish
I love how Nikki used one of the large buttons to accent this card. She applied several rub-ons to it as well as a brad. Isn't it cute?!

Product Spotlight: Ball Trim

I think the thing I love most about papercrafting is the tactile quality of the finished product. I love to see (and feel) the texture and depth that appears when paper, trims, chipboard and embellishments are combined. That's why I love this weeks product spotlight: Fancy Pants Ball Trims. They come is a variety of colors (coordinating with our recent and past collections), so there's sure to be one (or all of them!) that's perfect for you!

Q: What is your favorite Fancy Pants product?
A: Honestly, I have many favorites, but one of my newest favs are the Mixed Media Books. I love the variety of page shapes and materials. They're incredibly versatile.

Q: What is your favorite technique?
A: Machine stitching. Painting is a close 2nd.

soweak_320

Q: How long have you been scrapbooking?
A: Over 11 years.

Q: What are some goals you have for yourself, scrap-related or personal?
A: I'd love to write more scrapbook articles, and an idea book. Outside of scrapbooking, I'd love to illustrate children's books.

Q: What is the most unique topic/photos that you have scrapbooked?
A: I created a layout about my children's "bird legs."

birdlegs_320

Q: If someone was to walk into your scrap room/area right now, what would they find?
A: A mess. I just finished a layout and I need to clean up.

Q: What time of day do you usually scrapbook and where?
A: It varies. I scrapbook when my kids are in school but I do at night sometimes too and my late night scrapping seems to be the most productive. Of course, the next day after staying up late...not so productive. :)

Q: What type of camera do you use?
A: Canon Rebel XTi

Q: What are some other hobbies you enjoy?
A: Knitting, quilting, drawing, painting.

Q: Share something quirky about yourself.
A: Once spring hits I start shaking out my clothes before putting them on. I grew up in the woods and I learned quickly that bugs love to hide in clothing. I'm not a fan of bugs...especially if they are crawling on me!

Pelle by Anne Jo Lexander
Anne mixed the bird and arrow (with heart) with some of our other chipboard for a beautiful design. Notice that she painted the chipboard and then added an outline to the shapes.

Butterfly by Kay Rogers
Kay dressed up the butterflies with a combination of paint, marker, patterned paper and gems for a lovely look.

Princess by Ronda Palazzari
Ronda painted the crown and then added some brads for the perfect embellishment for this beautiful page.

Designer Spotlight: Brenda Hurd

Happy Wednesday! Here were are again, getting the chance to get to know one of our talented design team members. This week we shine the spotlight on Brenda Hurd (mammascrapper)!

here_i_am_320

Q: What is your favorite Fancy Pants product?
A: I’d have to say the chipboard – I love to be able to make it into what I want – the color – the shape and even the texture. I have even used a lot of the negative shapes on my layouts – the chipboard border under my pictures on this layout is a negative from a chipboard frame!

Q: What is your favorite technique?
A: I love painting on my layouts – somewhere even if it is just on the chipboard or edges – I love paint!

here_i_am2_320

Q: How long have you been scrapbooking?
A: Since I was 16 years old!  I Just turned 33 yesterday on the 31st.

Q: What kind of scrapper would you consider yourself to be?
A: Very versatile – sometimes when you look at my work you wonder if I am the one who created all of it – sometimes I feel funky and others very conservative – I seem to scrap off my moods (which seem to change quite often)!

Q: If someone was to walk into your scrap room/area right now, what would they find?
A: A really big mess – its sad too – I had new cabinets put in my scrap room last winter and they are beautiful – I just am not organized to put them all to good use – you could say that’s a goal of mine! I’ll share pictures when its finally done!

Q: What do you listen to or watch while scrapbooking?
A: My ipod

Q: What time of day do you usually scrapbook and where?
A: Definitely bedtime – after the kids go to bed (which is 8:00) – gives me a few good hours to get the creative juices flowing. My 2 year old is now deciding she doesn’t want to nap anymore so naptime is out of the question.

Q: What type of camera do you use?
D: Nikon D40

Q: What are some other hobbies you enjoy?
A: I love to cross stitch and I’m an outdoors girl – we love to go camping and fishing as a family.

Thanks for sharing, Brenda! It's great to learn a little more about the artist behind the layouts.

Come back tomorrow for another one of our Product Spotlights!
