New Release: Love Birds & Giveaway!

  CindyTobeyFramed
We may be headed into the Halloween weekend, but here on the Fancy Pants blog, love is in the air! Check out these sweet projects from our design team using the new Love Birds collection...and be prepared to fall in love with this gorgeous new line!

AmyMadeWithLove

Made With Love by Amy Peterman

Amy says, “I am in love with this collection! To create the background for my layout, I cut several sections from the Strips paper using decorative scissors and then layered them as I stuck them down. I also cut one of the banners from the Kissame paper and inserted two small photos as part of the banner. And ... I just had to use the owls sticker from the Elements Sticker Sheet. It’s so cute and worked perfectly with these photos. I adhered the sticker so the edge would run off the side of the layout and then trimmed the excess, which I used at the top of my layout for the date.”

I Love You by Brenda Hurd

Brenda says, "I punched the hearts out of the patterned paper and sewed them to the bottom for a fun border."

FP Froggie 500

Froggie by Cindy Tobey

When I saw the frog on the Kissame paper I knew it would be perfect for these photos of my husband and me at the park. I cut out the frog and various flags to create a multi colored flag banner. Amy and I were thinking alike because I also added two smaller pictures to my banner! I cut some strips from the Strips paper and layered them with various Fancy Pants trims for a colorful border at the bottom of my page. I really love the bright colors and fun patterns of this new collection!

Greta Love Birds birdhouse 2

Bird House by Greta Hammond

Greta says, "This new Love Birds line is adorable! It screamed birdhouse to me so I decided to add little goodies to this gem. The papers provided a lot of fun cut-outs and I love the little bird characters so I cut one out and added her to the front of the house. I also included a bit of raffia for texture and to look like a bird's nest!"

Vicki Love ur Style

Love ur Style by Vicki Chrisman

Vicki says, "I was so excited when I saw this new 'Love Birds' line. The colors and design are just so happy and cheerful. I knew right away just what new photo I wanted to use to create a layout with this paper. Something fun, and funky. A layout with a 'love' theme, but with a twist. Of course this line is perfect for a layout using a 'couples' photo...but there are so many other possibilities. I have ideas for altered projects just swimming through my head.

For this layout, I started with my basic layout design, and then went back and added some of the fun sticker elements. Finishing up with hand stitching, and buttons and clips for embellishments. I cut some free form flower shapes out of the 'Sweetheart', and 'Loves Me, Loves Me Not' papers. I edged them with glitter and layered them to create the dimensional flower. I love this fun and whimsical new line!"

With all of this love in the air we thought we'd share some of it with you. We're going to give a sampling of our new Hot Chocolate and Love Birds collections to three lucky blog readers!

Post a comment here (by midnight MST, Sunday, October 31st) and tell us what your favorite product is from our 2010 Fall Release and you will be entered to win a sampling of our BRAND NEW product! We'll be randomly selecting three winners.

*We will accept only one entry per person. Giveaway is open to U.S. and international entrants. Entries are due by midnight MST, Sunday, October 31st. We will post the winners on Monday, November 1st so be sure to check back then to see if you've won. Good luck!

Product Spotlight: Happy Together Element Stickers

CindyTobeyFramed
This Thursday's Product Spotlight is on our Happy Together Element Stickers. The serene colors, pretty patterns, and sweet sentiments make these stickers perfect for so many different types of projects!

Today we have a special treat for you! Not only did Greta Hammond use these happy stickers on a lovely home decor project, but she is also sharing the instructions so you can make your own!

  SBC_fp-022

Greta says, "This Happy Together line makes me think of home decor! The colors and patterns are warm and subtle enough to blend into any room so I decided to do a simple clipboard to showcase some of my favorite photos of my husband and kids. I wanted to fit a number of photos on it so I resized them to 2.5" wide and used a digital frame on each one to resemble a negative strip. It's a fun way to show a series of photos that tell a story! Here are the basic instructions to make one for yourself."

Life is Good clipboard web

Fancy Pants Supplies:
Happy Together: Forever
Happy Together: Strips
Happy Together: Make me Smile
Happy Together: Cheerful
Happy Together: Element Stickers
Happy Together: Journal Book
Happy Together: Buttons & Brads
Happy Together: Ribbons & Trim
Other Supplies: clipboard, digital photo frames, brown ink, brown pen

Life is Good clipboard 2 web

1. Cover clipboard base with "Cheerful" (cream/brown dot). Trim edges, sand and ink with brown ink.
2. Cut a piece of "Forever" (blue damask) to 8" x 9". Adhere to clipboard about 1 1/4" from the top and centered horizontally. Use a brown pen and a ruler to make faux stitch marks around top and sides (bottom will be covered).
3. Cut out brown zig zag strip from "Strips" paper. Adhere 1/2" from bottom and trim off excess.
4. Add Scalloped border sticker from Elements Stickers to the bottom of brown strip. Add "Moments" page tab sticker to left side of border sticker as shown.
5. Add strip of 3 photos to scalloped edge journal page. Adhere to page as shown. Add heart stickers and large brown brad at top.
6. Add strip of 2 photos to scalloped circle journal page and adhere to page as shown. Add small flower sticker with small blue brad to top of photos.
7. Mat "Life is Good" sticker onto "Make Me Smile" (Brown side) and cut around. Add to page with pop dots as shown.

8. Finish clipboard with a large brown brad in lower right corner and a bow from ivory ribbon at the top.

Isn't it beautiful?! Thanks for sharing this fun project Greta, and thanks to everyone for stopping by today. Be sure to come back tomorrow for some design team inspiration using our new Love Birds collection!

New Release: Hot Chocolate

CindyTobeyFramed
What could be more yummy than a steaming mug of hot chocolate? How about enjoying a steaming mug of hot chocolate while you're checking out our new Hot Chocolate collection?! So go make yourself some hot chocolate and then take a peek at these fun projects our design team created with this delicious new collection!

Oh, and don't forget to add the marshmallows!

SnowAngels

Snow Angels by Amy Peterman

Amy says, “I trimmed around one of the snowflakes on the background paper with a craft knife, and then tucked the bracket paper under the snowflake before stitching it down. I love the effect. I also love many uses for the Cards paper! I used one card, for my title and one card for my journaling.”

IHeartQuilts

I Love Quilts by Amy Peterman

Amy says, “Some of the Hot Chocolate papers have a homespun feel to them that remind me of some of the quilts I have. So, I created a layout about my love for quilts. To play off the theme, I used one of the floral patterns from the Cards paper and stitched a 'quilted' grid on it. I then inked the thread to emphasize the stitching.”

Brenda-sledding-fun

Sledding Fun by Brenda Hurd

Brenda says, "I loved the warm colors in this line. I cut the snowflakes out on the Silhouette with the Glistening Snow paper and sprayed them with silver glimmer mist. I also cut the bottom half off of one of the stickers 'Walking in a winter wonder land' and stitched it under the picture."

Vicki Star Decor
Vicki star decor close 1

Stars by Vicki Chrisman

Vicki says, “This time of the year always gets me thinking about home décor. Maybe it’s because we spend more time inside, but I love having something fun and new to set out and enjoy. The gorgeous color combos of the new Hot Chocolate line just had me wanting to create a home décor project. All you need are these beautiful papers, wooden spools, dowels, stars, a glue gun, some Fancy Pants Buttons, and some fine glitter.

Start by adding your choice of papers to the stars, and smoothing out the edges with some sandpaper or an emery board. (Add strips of a variety of the papers to the spools also). Using a glue pen and fine glitter you can highlight areas of the paper design and the edges of the stars. I used a small paint brush and a wet glue to add glitter to selected areas on the dowels. All you have left to do now is adhere the dowel to the spool and then add the star, using hot glue. Embellish with Fancy Pants Buttons.

These would work great on a mantel or maybe as a table centerpiece with some votives.”

FP-Warming-Up-500
Warming Up by Cindy Tobey

I love the richness of color and texture in this collection! Many of the papers have a canvas or fiber texture in the printed design that adds beautiful depth. I added lots of machine stitching to my page, I even stitched over the brown lines in the "Sweater Weather" paper to intensify them. I also cut out some of the paisley shapes from the "Chocolate Swirl" paper and clustered them with buttons, brads and stickers. I've had these photos of my son enjoying a mug of hot chocolate for close to a year now and this new collection is just what I needed to scrapbook them!

Hot Choc winter wear layout web

Winter wear by Greta Hammond

Greta says, "The colors in this line are amazing! The papers work so well together...very versatile! I added just a bit of punch to the layout by using some foil on raw chipboard. A quick and easy way to bring in some different texture and accentuate the papers even more."

Wasn't that yummy Hot Chocolate? Thanks for stopping by today and be sure to come back tomorrow for our Product Spotlight with Greta Hammond!

Fancy This: Halloween Banner

VickiChrismanFramed
Hello everyone! Here we are in October already. Halloween is just around the corner. So today I thought I would show you how to create this fun Halloween banner. Using the template, with a mix of Fancy Pants papers, buttons, and chipboard, you'll be able to whip one up in no time.

Vickis Fancy this project for Oct

Fancy Pants Supplies:
Rusted Sun- Pool Party
Rusted Sun- Petals in the Sand
Rusted Sun- Sunrise
3 Papers from the Artist Edition Memo Notebook
Chipboard Alphas
Stamp (flourish)
Assorted buttons

Other Supplies:
Ink
floss
wiggly eyes
Below is the template for the (6) pennant pieces you will need to cut out to create your banner. (Approx. size is 4x6)

1. Print off your template and cut it out. You can now use this as a pattern to cut from your other papers. In the supply list below, you can see the papers I used to cut my pennant pieces from. You will need to trace and cut out pennants from 6 different papers. The dotted line on the template shows you where you will fold it, to make a space for your ribbon to go through.

Vicki's Banner Templet

2. After cutting each piece, fold over the top edge to create a place for your ribbon to go through. I chose to machine stitch mine down, but if you chose not to stitch, using an adhesive will work just fine also. (I added machine stitching with black thread around each piece as an added decorative element).

3. This is where you really get to have fun! Decorate your banner pieces with stamps, buttons, etc. I used large black buttons to create spiders by adding paper legs and wiggly eyes. I used my black ink pad to color my chipboard letters before adding them to each individual pennant piece.

Vickis Fancy This Project Oct 16th photo 2

4. Now all you have left to do is string your pennant pieces onto your ribbon. A helpful tip: tying a paper clip or safety pin to the end of your ribbon will make it much easier to work through each of your pennant pieces.

Now you are all ready to hang up your "Spooky" banner and get ready for your little trick-or-treaters!

Happy Creating!

Product Spotlight: It's Your Day Glitter Cuts

AmyPetermanFramed
Want to add a little extra pizazz to your layouts? It's Your Day Glitter Cuts are just what you need. The eight die-cut designs in this set are printed on a transparent background and are coated in lots of sparkly glitter. Now, doesn't that make you want to celebrate?

SBC_fp-052

Look at how Brenda Hurd creatively used several of the It's Your Day Glitter Cuts on her layout.

Celebrate-1

Celebrate by Brenda Hurd
Brenda says, "I cut one of the candles off of the candle glitter cut and sewed it to the other side of the box to make the layout flow. I also cut the bottom off of the journal spot and sewed it to the top of the layout—and of course—the title was great to not have to dig through stickers to create one!"

Thanks for the inspiration, Brenda and thanks everyone for stopping by. Come again for more Fancy goodness!

Fancy This: EEEK! Framed Bat

BrendaHurdFramed
Is Halloween brewing around your house like it is mine? The kids are so excited already and wondering why we don't have many decorations. The main reason is because we moved a few months ago and i don't want to take the time to find my decorations. So i set out to make some. I combined a few different lines in this project, goes to show how versatile each line!

Eeek

Fancy Pants Supplies:
It's Your Day: Hodgepodge patterned paper
It's Your Day Brads
Trick or Treat Button
Trick or Treat Rub-ons
Like Father Like Son: Rock Star patterned paper
Like Father Like Son: Big Guy patterned paper
Kraft Kuts Stickers (Green/Blue Alpha)

Other supplies:
cardstock
silver spray ink
foam adhesive
black jute
frame (I created my own, but you could buy one or use an old one from around the house)
sewing machine

Instructions:
1. I hand cut the moon from the Hodgepodge (yellow) paper, stitched it to some sturdy cardstock and machine stitched around the edges. I sprayed with silver spray ink.

2. I cut different sizes of circles to create the bat. I used a 6" circle of the Big Guy paper from Like Father Like Son for the wings and cut it in half. I then used a 1 3/8" circle punch to create the inverted scallop along the straight edge. Making sure to offset a little so the scallop wasn't perfect.

Eeek-2

3. I then glued the wings to black cardstock and cut them out.

Eeek-3

4. I cut the other circles to make the head and body. The body is 3", the head (black) is 1 3/4" and the inner circle is 1 1/2", and the ears are made from a 3/4" circle cut in half. I used foam adhesive under the head to give it some dimension. I sprayed all pieces with the spray ink then added the brads for eyes and the black button for his nose/mouth.

Eeek-4
Eeek-1

5. After I figured out where i wanted to glue that bat, I added the rub-ons from the Trick or Treat line and the EEEK! using the Kraft Kuts stickers. I then wrapped the moon with black jute then glued the bat on, again using foam adhesive for the wing that was on the moon.

6. I created the simple frame using old barn wood and then glued the moon to the top of the frame.

The kids were pleased to see something other than the usual pumpkins and leaf decor lying around—finally something a little bit scary!
