Pocket Chick Spotlight: Greta Hammond

Greta Hammond just breathe layout

Hello eveyone! I'm Greta Hammond and I'm here to share a little bit about me today on the blog. I have been with Fancy Pants Designs since the beginning and have loved being able to create with all of their amazing releases over the years. I live in northern Indiana with my husband and two kids. I work from home doing freelance scrapbooking assignments in between shuffling my kids here and there and being available to my family.

Q: How long have you been scrapbooking?
A: I have been scrapbooking for the past 11 years. Although I have always loved photography and documenting life that way, it wasn't until the birth of my first child that scrapbooking really became a part of my life.

Q: What is your favorite Fancy Pants product?
A: While I always love the embellishments that Fancy Pants Designs comes out with, I have to say that my favorite product is their paper. I am always impressed with the color palettes and I love their use of solids and patterns to compliment each other!

Greta Hammond just breathe layout 2

Q: What time of day do you usually scrapbook and where?
A: I rarely scrap anywhere besides my scrap room. I'm not one for crops or taking my stuff elsewhere because I don't plan that well! I typically scrap during the day while the kids are at school and then after they go to bed at night.

Q: What kind of scrapper would you consider yourself to be?
A: I think of myself as a linear scrapper with touches of detail and a bit of whimsy. I love to layer papers and elements however, the end-result still tends to be quite linear.

Q: If someone was to walk into your scrap room/area right now, what would they find?
A: Ummm ... yeah. A mess. I would love to say that this is not typical but I would be lying! I can't seem to keep up with organizing new product and the purging old. Every once in awhile I get things cleaned out and organized but it doesn't seem to stay that way for long. Oh well!

Thanks for taking a minute to learn a little bit more about me!

1 Product, 2 Ways: Wave Searcher Chipboard Pieces

WavesearcherChipPiecesLowRes
I love finding creative ways to use scrapbooking product. The Wave Searcher Chipboard Pieces are great used simply they way they come. They are adhesive-backed and are a quick and easy way to spice up a layout or project. But, when I was asked to used this product for this 1 Product, 2 Ways post, I put my creative thinking cap on and tried some fun things with them.

FrontYardSurf
Front Yard Surf by Amy Peterman

This first project is a simple way to use the Chipboard Pieces as a "kicked up" embellishment. I punched holes into one of the arrow chipboard pieces, as well as a couple of the tiny flowers. I then threaded the little flowers onto the arrow with some jute. I like how they almost look like little "charms" and they add a fun dimension to the page as they dangle.

FrontYardSurfDetail1

I also applied some Wave Searcher Rub-ons onto and behind another one of the arrows. I love how rub-ons can go almost anywhere!

FrontYardSurfDetail2

Here's a couple more detail shots of my layout... Gosh, I love the Wave Searcher collection!

FrontYardSurfDetail3

FrontYardSurfDetail4

The second way I used one of the Wave Searcher Chipboad Pieces was to create a tag for our family beach bag. I used a clear embossing powder to add a durable finish to this tag that will hopefully get lots of use this summer! :-)

Fancy Pants Supples:
Wave Searcher: Chipboard Pieces
Wave Searcher: Shovel patterned paper
Wave Searcher: Glitter Cuts
Childish Things: Alpha Stickers
Wave Searcher: Ribbon and/or binder ring

other:
Beach Bag Tag Art download
watermark ink pad
clear embossing powder
heat tool
heavy duty hole punch

Instructions:
1. Download and print out the Beach Bag Tag Art onto the "B" side of the Wave Searcher: Shovel patterned paper. Apply Childish Things Alpha Stickers.

BeachBagTag1

2. Peel off backing on "Soak Up The Sun" Chipboard Piece and apply to patterned side of Shovel paper. Tip: Hold the Chipboard Piece behind the paper and up to the light for postitioning before sticking it in place.
BeachBagTag2

3. Trim away excess paper with a craft knife.
BeachBagTag3

4. Using a watermark stamp pad, stamp all over "back side" of your tag, to completely cover in ink.
BeachBagTag4

5. While the ink is still wet, cover with clear embossing powder and shake off excess.
BeachBagTag5

BeachBagTag6

6. Using a heat tool, heat embossing powder until all is melted.
BeachBagTag7

I love the look this gives! It almost looks like beach glass—how perfect for a beach bag! ...And the clear finish will help protect it!
BeachBagTag8

7. For the "front side" of your tag, repeat steps 4-6, but while you are heating the embossing powder and before it cools, carefully press a few flowers from the Wave Searcher Glitter Cuts set into the melted powder.
BeachBagTag9

8. Punch a hole in one edn of your tag and attache to your beach bag with a binder ring or ribbon!

9. Enjoy your summer!

I hope you have enjoyed my take on using the Wave Searcher Chipboard Pieces. I hope I've inspired you. Have you ever come up with a creative way for using one of Fancy Pants Designs' products? Please post it on the Fancy Pants Designs Facebook Page. I'd love to see it!

Fancy This: Mini Book

Kim Watson+ Completed mini+flat+500pix

With my life being a crazy as it is, means my scrapbooking time is limited. When I do get the gap I like to be able to get a project on the go & finish it in the same day. Imagine how happy I was to find out Fancy Pants were bringing out Wave Searcher Brag Book Kits. Today I am going to share a super fast mini book I created of my fave summer photographs, using a Wave Searcher Brag Book Kit. The BONUS is that I was able to finish it in a couple of hours.

In the Brag Book Kit was everything I needed to create this mini book.

Let's get started. You will need the following...

Fancy Pants Designs supplies:
Wave Searcher: Brag Book Kit (including it's great sticker sheet & page of alphas)
Wave Searcher: Chipboard Pieces

Other supplies:
White cardstock
Serrated scissors
Adhesive
Sewing machine
x3 colored rubber bands
Regular scrapping tools

Kim Watson+Completed mini+ pages open+500pix

Kim Watson+Heat Wave mini album+Step outs
Instructions:
1.) Take a variety of the patterned & plain letter sized paper & fold them in half.
2.) Stick the long open sides together of each page as close to the edge as possible.
3.) Once completed, clamp all pages tightly together in a pile.
4.) Mark off a little notch 3/8" from the 'spine'. The notch can be approx. 1/4" wide & 3/16" high. Cut out with sharp craft knife through all pages, on the top of spine as well as the bottom. The little recess for the rubber bands to sit in.
5.) Score every page at 11/16" (which should be at the inner most side of the notch). This will allow the pages to fold back easier.
6.) Stretch your rubber bands around the width of the mini book & place in notches. The pages will be completely secure now.

Kim Watson+binding cls up+500pix

7.) Prepare your cover 'card' (I used the Heat Wave card from the kit). I stitched it, matted it onto white cardstock & added stickers for a great front cover.

Kim Watson+Cover cls#1+500pix

Your mini album is ready for filling.

Kim Watson+Completed Heat Wave album+ 500pix

For extra 'space' for journaling & photographs, I filled each page pocket with the extra cards that came in the kit. Stapling little sticker tabs to the edges of the cards makes it easier to slide the cards in & out of the pockets.

I urge you to try this mini. It literally took me a couple of hours to complete, the result was a mini book full of memories & a great feeling of accomplishment. :) If you do complete a version for yourselves, remember to post them on the Fancy Pants Designs Facebook page for all of us to admire.

Have a creative day!

Pocket Chick Spotlight: Vicki Chrisman

Hello Everyone! I guess it’s my turn to share a bit about myself here with you on the Fancy Pants blog. Well, my name is Vicki Chrisman and I’ve been designing with Fancy Pants Designs' goodies since their very first lines where released. It’s been a joy to able to work with such amazing products, and to watch how Fancy Pants Designs has grown. I live in Nebraska with my husband and our dog Molly. We have two grown sons, Weston and Jarad, who we are lucky enough to live here in NE also. We will soon be adding to our family, as Jarad and his fiancée Kate, have set a wedding date for next June. Fun ahead! I’m honored to be today's Spotlighted Pocket Chick, and to be a part of this talented team.

Q; What is your favorite technique?
A: I would have to say that Stitching would be my favorite technique. I seem to end up stitching on a great deal of my projects. I love the look of it, the detail it adds, and the fact that it works with almost any style. There is no doubt I use my sewing machine for stitching on paper more than I do sewing fabric. Ha!

Q: How long have you been scrapbooking?
A: I have been scrapbooking for many years now. I really had to stop and think about it when I went to answer this question. I first started scrapbooking when our oldest son was about 14. That was 1996, so about 16 years now that I’ve been cutting and pasting with photos. lol Since my sons are adults now, when I do “kiddo” layouts, I scrapbook photos of my darling nieces and nephews. I guess I will have to patiently wait to see about grandchildren

Q: What kind of scrapper would you consider yourself to be?
A: I would have to say that I have always been a vintage girl at heart. But I love beautiful patterns and designs of any kind. I’m drawn to trims and buttons for sure. It’s the little details that I love.  Those little things that don’t pop out at you right way. But are the things that end up bringing your project together, so that when you sit back and look at it, it feels “right”.  ? ?

Q: Where do you find inspiration?
A:  I would have to say the papers would be the most inspiring thing for me when I’m ready to sit down and create. There’s nothing better than feeling inspired to create by a pile of fun new papers and embellishments, sitting on your desk waiting for you. I also find the photos themselves inspire me.  There really is inspiration all around us if we really take time to “look” at things. Pattern and colors in fabrics, billboards, ads in magazines,.. all kinds of things. I seem to notice things like that more when I’m sitting on a plane, waiting for an appointment or other situations when I slow down enough to really notice them more. I keep a little pad and paper in my purse, so I can make a really simple sketch I can refer to when I get home.

I thought I’d share with you a Fancy Pants Designs Brag Book I’ve been working on. I had no doubt that I would used the Childish Things line, as it would be perfect for this “1980’s” photos. As I mentioned my boys are grown, so what I did was go through some of my favorite photos of them when they were younger and put them together in this book. I thought I’d share just a few of the pages with you.

Vicki pocket ch sp 1

Vicki pocket ch sp 2

Vicki pocket ch sp 3

I love that these Brag Books have space to write down memories, and all pockets for extra photos and memorabilia.

Thanks so much for letting me share a bit about myself here today. I’m honored to work with Fancy Pants Designs and this super talented group of designers, who constantly inspire me.

Product Spotlight: Wave Searcher Printed and Flocked Transparencies

Wavesearchtrans

I love Fancy Pants Designs' transparencies! The printed transparency designs are so graphic and fun, whilte the flocked transparencies give great texture to any project! This week, two of our Pocket Chicks focus on our transparencies from the Wave Searcher collection, and they have some great ideas to share with you! Take a look!

Soak-up-the-Sun
Soak Up The Sun by Jess Mutty
Jess says, "I really loved the yellow rays on this Wave Searcher transparency but the surfer dude and numbers were just a wee bit too grown up and sporty for my two year old. When this sort of thing happens I try to remember to treat a transparency like any other layer on my page ... you obviously put a base under it, but you can also add layers on TOP of it!

Soak-up-the-Sun-detail1

By adding the cut journaling block, some chipboard flowers, and the pop-dotted chipboard title block I covered up the parts that didn't apply to my layout. You still see the majority of the transparency: the swirls, leaves, and of course the cool rays that look like sunlight shining on my toddler because of the photo angle.

Soak-up-the-Sun-detail2

I also added the chipboard and button banner at the top to balance the dimension of the bottom corner. This method really incorporates the transparency in a way that blends with the entire page!"

Piradee - FP Take Action1.1
Take Action by Piradee Talvanna
Piradee says, "Lately I'm spending way too much time thinking about things that I should do, rather than actually doing it!  And therefore I created this little reminder to be framed up on my wall - to remind me to TAKE ACTION. Best to action on those ideas or thoughts than to just dream about them, right?

Piradee - FP Take Action2

Piradee - FP Take Action3

Piradee - FP Take Action4

And the color combination in the Wave Searcher collection was perfect for this piece, along with the flocked transparency that I used to back the sayings. Love how the flocked transparency not only added a different texture (fuzzy) feel to the project, but allowed the sayings to look as thou they are floating and provide even more depth and dimension to the project"

Way cool ideas, right? What's your favorite way to use transparencies? We'd love to hear your ideas!

Pocket Chick Pick: Vanessa Middleton

Hi everyone! When I knew I was going to be doing the Pocket Chick Pick segment for the blog, I was excited to be able to choose a project from the Fancy Pants Designs Facebook page, that was made by you guys, and take some inspiration from that and create my own project!  There were so many awesome ideas out there, it was hard to choose!

297619_2530087375291_1346675376_3071899_1317271321_n
I Miss Having You 'Round Card by Vanessa Middleton

I finally decided on an adorable pinwheel card, made by Vanessa Middleton for my inspiration! I love how she curled the edges back so it looked like a picture frame! But I REALLY loved the pinwheels!!!  They are so fun and just plain cute! Perfect for the Childish Things line! I'd been kicking around the idea of making a mobile, and then I remembered I had this twig 'branch' at home (that I've been holding onto for years)... so I dashed home and got it! This is what I came up with...

Fancy pants 093
Mobile by Valerie Sanchez

Fancy Pants Designs Supplies:
Childish Things: Imagination patterned paper
Childish Things: Toy Box patterned paper
Childish Things: Big Boy Guy patterned paper
Childish Things: Playtime patterned paper
Childish Things: Snack time patterned paper
Childish Things: Strips patterned paper
Childish Things: Buddy patterned paper
Childish Things: Book Shelf patterned paper
Childish Things: Trims (wide red and white, and the blue flowered ribbon)
Childish Things: Buttons
Childish Things: Chipboard Embellishments
Childish Things: Frog Stamp
Artist Edition: Metal Charms
Beach Bum: Paper Flowers

Other Supplies:
twine and linen thread
twig branch

Using the awesome and amazingly versatile Childish Things line, I created my mobile (one that hangs against the wall).  I fussy-cut the cute little ovals off of the PLAYTIME paper, of the frog, prince, princess, butterfly, castle and pony. I pop-dotted those on top of three accordion folded rosettes, so there was a front and a back. That way if it flopped around, there would be two sides to look at instead of just one.

Fancy pants 090

Fancy pants 072

Fancy pants 088

I picked three small metal charms, and cut scraps of paper to put in the frames, and then added small chipboard embellishments to them. I threaded some linen thread to them and hung them on the branch.

Fancy pants 068

I made the pinwheel out of the Imagination paper and fastened it with a brad. I put a chipboard embellishment on top of the brad, and then set that aside while I worked on the other side. I stamped the frog on a scrap of the Strips paper, and punched it into a circle. Then I pop-dotted it onto a larger scalloped circle of the gold side of Snack Time, and popped that onto the back a larger, red checked side of Snack Time. When that was done, I flipped it over and used some good and sticky glue dots to stick the pinwheel down.

Fancy pants 083

Using the blue flowered ribbon, I made some ribbon bows for the four rosettes, added a button and used twine to hang them from the branch as well. I made some little paper flowers using the Beach Bum paper flowers and the smallest buttons from the Childish Things collection (it's so awesome that the colors coordinated so perfectly!! way to go Fancy Pants Designs!).  I added the flowers along the branch, hiding where I'd tied the rosettes and charms to it!

Fancy pants 091

For the Homemade sweets chipboard embellishment, I made another rosette out of the gorgeous Buddy plaid! (love plaids, too!) I popped that onto a scalloped circle of the Snack Time again.

Fancy pants 084

I made a folded ribbon bow with the wide red and white striped ribbon and added that to the left side of the branch, and voila'!

Fancy pants 092

I hope you have enjoyed my little project inspired by Vanessa Middleton's creative little card! Now give it a try and make one for your special little girl, or even a little boy (if you change a few things~!!)    Thanks for checking in and have a super-creative, fantastic scrapping day!

Fancy This: Globe Technique

Greta Hammond Childish things cards 1

Hello everyone! I'm here to share a couple of cards with you today. I was drawn to the Childish Things line for these cards as I was influenced by the longer days and my kids wanting to play outside from the moment they get home until we drag them in at night. I love the sense of whimsy in these papers and wanted to do a fun little globe technique to compliment that feeling. Here are a few steps to show you how I made them!

Fancy Pants Designs Supplies:
Childish Things: Strips
Childish Things: Toy Box
Childish Things: Imagination
Childish Things: SnackTime
Childish Things: Book Shelf
Childish Things: Recorder
Childish Things: Chipboard Banners
Childish Things: Alpha Sticker

Instructions:
To make the globes, first punch out 6 circles from patterned paper.

Greta Hammond Childish things card step 1

Next, fold the circles in half.

Greta Hammond Childish things card step 2

Then adhere half of one circle to another half of another circle, making sure to line things up well.

Greta Hammond Childish things card step 3

Continue adhering the rest of the circles (adhering the halves together).

For the balloon card, I make three globes from different papers and add a piece of string to back of each globe. Adhere to card and the tie the strings together with a bow.

Greta Hammond Childish things cards 2

For the "dreamer" card, make five globes total...three from one pattern and two from another pattern. Add globes to a length of string, alternating the patterns. Attach to card.

Greta Hammond Childish things cards 3

The globes are a fun way to add a bit of whimsy and dimension to any project. Make them bigger or with a scalloped circle to change the look. Add them to a banner or album cover for even more versaitlity! Thanks for stopping by today!

Pocket Chick Spotlight: Pamela Young

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by the blog today! Today I get to share a little bit more about myself for you all. I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to play with Fancy Pants Designs' products. I know I am lucky to be on the design team for Fancy Pants Designs. :) Well ... I am a scrapbook girl, who also plays around with altering, cards, and art. I most recently have created an art journal/prayer book using one of the fabulous brag books Fancy Pants Designs makes. It uses a lot of paint and ink and paper scraps. My faith is important to me and I recently did a study which had me rewriting some of the Psalms. I thought it would be fun to capture it in a book. It was therapeutic too.

PamelaY_Cry-Out-Journal-Cover

It's different than my normal stuff. I tend to do layouts most, with a lot of shapes and scraps and different papers.

PamelaY_Cry-Out-Journal-page-1

Q: What is your favorite Fancy Pants Designs product?
A: I love paper! Right now I am currently in love with the Be You collection.

Q: What is your favorite technique?
A: Adding stitching to my pages ... or playing with shapes.

Q: How long have you been scrapbooking?
A: About 11 years.

Q: What kind of scrapper would you consider yourself to be?
A: My own kind of scrapper, with my own unique style and desires, comparable to only myself.  :)  I kinda feel like everyone is an individual and this is true when it comes to our scrapbooks too.

Q: Where do you find inspiration?
A: Everywhere!!! I don't think there is a place that you can find zero inspiration in, it's all around us--color, design, feelings.

Q: If someone was to walk into  your scrap room/area right now, what would they find?
A: A huge mess! Anybody want to come clean it for me?

Q: What do you listen to or watch while scrapbooking?
A: I love to just put in my ipod, which has a wide range of music on it.

Q: What time of day do you usually scrapbook and where?
A: Well it used to always be at night after everyone was in bed, but I have found that this is changing ... and I seem to do it more during the day, but often it's a little here and a little there.

Q: Share something quirky about yourself.
A: I am a reality tv show junkie.  Like bad.

Well thanks so much for stopping by today!!! I hope you have enjoyed getting to know me a bit more. Have a wonderful day!!

Product Spotlight: Summer Soul Rub-ons

BeachGirlRubonsFINALLowRes
Today, Suzanne Sergi shares some great ideas for using our Summer Soul rub-ons all on one layout! Take a look!

SuzanneSergi_AttheBeach_Fancy_1
At The Beach by Suzanne Sergi
Suzanne says, "Rub-ons are so easy to use, and they are fantastic for adding extra small details to your pages. On this page of my daughter, I used them in several different areas. I like using them as is, but sometimes I love to make them my own. For example, the 'at the beach' title had trees attached at the top. However, I cut away the top portion, so I only had the words. They were then adhered to the white cardstock label, and then I ran through my embossing folder.

SuzanneSergi_Atthebeach_Fancy_2

It was the first time to try this, and was surprised that my lettering stayed intact! Also in the upper left hand corner the circle of stars is around another shape. Again, I cut the outer ring of stars, and adhered this to the white circle. Do not forget to layer rub-ons on top of one another, too. In the lower left hand corner of the photo, I adhered the palm trees, and then adhered the flower rub-ons on top for accents."

Great ideas, huh?

Don't forget to answer our Tuesday Trivia question on yesterday's post. We'll announce the winner tomorrow!

Fancy This: 30 Minute Layout

Nic Beach Girl image 3
Beach Girl by Nic Howard

Once again as the days get cooler here in New Zealand, I find myself wanting to remember summer and look for beach photos to scrapbook. The blues and greens I find in the photos taken over the summer are my favourite to scrapbook with, and the Summer Soul collection goes with my photos beautifully. The last 30 minute layout I did for the FancyPants blog was such a success I thought I’d give it another go – so gather your photos and your Summer Soul collection, we’re going to create another 30 minute layout!

Fancy Pants Designs Supplies:
Summer Soul: Ocean Waves patterned paper
Summer Soul: Cards patterned paper
Summer Soul: Printed transparency
Summer Soul: Element Stickers
Artist Edition: Memo Notebook, graph paper
Saint Nick: Alphabet

Other Supplies:
adhesive
black journaling pen & ruler.
inks

Instructions:
1. Pull a graph paper sheet from the Artist Edition Memo Notebook.Turn the paper so that the spiral holes are down the right hand side, and trim 1” off the left side, cutting the paper to 11” wide.?

2. Cut a 2” strip of the Ocean Waves paper. Adhere it in behind the spiral holes so that 1” is sticking out, in effect making the paper back to 12” wide.?? Note: If you print your journaling on the computer, now is a good time. I don’t have a 12x12” printer, I trim my paper down to fit through my regular printer, then stick it back together afterwards and hide the cut behind something later!

Nic Beach Girl image 1

3. Trim the around the image from the Summer Soul Printed Transparency. Don’t be too fussy. Place it approx. 2” from the right side of the layout as pictured, don’t adhere down just yet.
  ?
4. Trim a circle measuring 3 ½” across from the Ocean Waves paper. Mine just happened to have some cool orange/pink striped images, I adhered this over the bird image in the transparency.?

5. Add a series of photographs in a row down your page. Mine are printed as 3 x 2” photos. Note: My photos have been sanded a little around the edge to make them stand out.? Note: I made some cuts in the transparency to tuck the photos behind it a little. This was because I didn’t want too much of the transparency covered up, so I cut the transparency a little and tucked them behind.  ?

6. Add a ¼” strip of Ocean Waves paper down the page on the left side of your photos. Once again, mine is tucked under the transparency part way.?

Nic Beach Girl image 2

7. Add a few embellishments and a title. I used a bracket sticker from the Summer Soul Element Stickers and a part of a card from the Summer Soul Cards patterned paper. I added Saint Nick Alphabet Stickers.?

8. Add pen detail to finish.

Nic Beach Girl image 3

The combination of using a plain background and a pre-printed transparency make this layout so easy.  Detail is added with titles from patterned paper and easy to apply alphabet stickers. Whether summer has just finished for you, or whether it’s on its way, I hope you enjoyed my layout, I enjoyed sharing it with you! I’d love to hear how you go if you attempt a 30 minute layout too!

Guest Designer: Ronda Palazzari

Hello everyone. I’m Ronda Palazzari and I am back today, this time as a Guest Designer. I love Fancy Pants Designs so I am very happy to be here. I was thrilled to work with two of Fancy Pants Designs New lines Childish Things and Be You. Today, I am sharing with you a couple layouts, a card, and a tag using these versatile lines.

Ronda Palazzari FP You Found You

My first layout is called You Found You. Be You was the perfect combination for this layout. My niece recently got married to her prince which brought back memories of watching her grow up. It reminded me of her search to find herself. Recently she has really found out who she is and who she wants to be.  She was positively glowing at her wedding. Not only did this paper line match my theme for this page, it also matched her colors for the wedding, pale yellow and grey.

Ronda Palazzari FP You Found You Details 2

Ronda Palazzari FP You Found You Details

I used the rub-ons on the chipboard to emphasize the story. For extra pops of color, I used the tiny buttons around the photo.

Ronda Palazzari FP Heart Card

This Heart card was a breeze to complete. I knew I had to use the flock transparency for card front. I attached it to the cute hide & seek paper wanting that green to show through the hearts. I attached the ribbon using my sewing machine to create the ruffle. For the finishing touches I add the glittery die cut and chipboard title. Easy Peasy!

Ronda Palazzari FP the circle

The circle layout uses Childish Things. My sweet nephew Felix turns one in a matter of days. I cannot believe how fast he is growing up. It made me think of the day he arrived and the happiness he has brought to my brother & sister-in-law. The line was a perfect fit for this photo.

Ronda Palazzari FP the circle details

I used bits and pieces from the chipboard, rub-ons, and sticker sheets. I love that big red ribbon but didn’t want it overpowering the page so I scrunched it up and stitched it down. I had to have that big button right next to it! To complete the page I journaled in a circle around the picture framing the focus of the story.

Ronda Palazzari FP Just Breathe Tag

This last piece is a mixed media tag using Be You as inspiration. I love the colors and the funkiness of the rub-ons so I used them to guide my design.

Ronda Palazzari FP Just Breathe Tag details 1

I used old book pages on a tag and colored the background using watercolor crayons and spray mist. Next I added a black outline to the tag using oil pastel. I then layered the rub-ons with the chipboard pieces. A simple baker’s twine bow completes the artsy tag.

Thanks for joining me today on my Fancy adventure. I had fun playing with all of the wonderful supplies and showing the versatility of their products. Fancy Pants always has a special place in my heart as it was my first design team. I will always be a Fancy girl!

Product Spotlight: Summer Soul Stamps

SummerSoulStampsFINALLowRes
Stamps are truly one of the most versatile supplies out there. You can use them for so many different types of projects and on all sorts of surfaces. We are spotlighting our new Summer Soul Stamps today, and our Pocket Chicks, Betsy Veldman and Jing-Jing Nickel are sharing the clever ways they've used these fun and graphic stamps.

Betsy-SS-Stamp-Layout
Summer Soul by Betsy Veldman

Betsy says, "I used the Summer Soul stamps to create some felt and canvas embellishments for my page. A little tip for using stamps with fabric -- instead of stamping directly onto the fabric, stamp onto iron-on transfer paper (the kind you would use in your printer) and then use an iron to transfer the image onto the fabric. The images come out much crisper and brighter than stamping directly onto the fabric. It won’t work with word stamps since the image is reversed, but it’s great for images! I layered my fabric circles over felt and stitched around the edges, then frayed them a bit for a little extra texture.

Betsy-SS-Stamp-Layout4

I created the canvas tape using the same iron-on method. I simply stamped a row of the wave image onto transfer paper and ironed it onto a strip of canvas fabric.

Betsy-SS-Stamp-Layout2

For my title, I heat embossed the 'Summer Soul' title with white embossing powder, cut it out and stitched it to a piece of canvas. Again, I frayed the edges for more texture.

Betsy-SS-Stamp-Layout3

For the background, I stamped the starburst image and heat embossed them with white powder. I used some spray mists to achieve the 'tie-dye' effect. The embossed designs resist the mist, letting them pop!"

FPMayJJ
Summer Soul by Jing-Jing Nickel

Jing-Jing explains, "In this layout, I used two of the stamps from the Summer Soul collection. One was an obvious choice for the title of the layout.

IMG_3880

Then I cut out a scalloped border with my electronic die-cut machine. I stamped the sunburst onto each of the semi circles as shown, and then I added buttons to accessorize.

IMG_3881

Another way you can achieve the same look is stamping the sunburst onto paper, punch out the circles, cut them into semi-circles and assemble them for a border."

Way cool ideas, huh? We're so glad you could join us again today. Please come back again on Friday when Ronda Palazzari visits the Fancy Pants Designs blog as our guest!
