Adore You by Yuki Shimada
Yuki says, "I really love the soft and sweet colors of the Time for Spring collection. They are so cute and perfect for the girl’s page! I used the die cut word, “Happy” as a part of my title. I also used the flower die cut for making my own embellishment. I added some buttons around the flower. The chipboard ward from Be You Collection."

Product Spotlight: Wave Searcher Patterned Papers

WaveSearcherpatterned

Summer Solstice was just last week, so it's officially summer! Woo hoo! We're celebrating today with fun projects using out Wave Searcher Patterned Papers, the perfect companion for those hot summer photos!

Piradee - FP to the beach1
To The Beach by Piradee Talvanna
Piradee says, "For today's post on pattern paper, I thought I would make use of the left over bits of pattern papers that I'm always hoarding away (even the smallest pieces, I'm always thinking that I might use them somewhere sometime LOL).
Piradee - FP to the beach2
Here on my project using various circle punches and scraps from the wave searcher collection (along with tons of foam dots), I'm able to mixed and matched the various bits of pattern paper without having to worry to much if the paper designs matched (a fun way to also mix papers from different collections)."

SummerMINIAlbum
Mini Album by Valerie Sanchez
Valerie says, "Happy Summer everyone! It's finally here, and it's H-O-T!! The perfect time to sit down with some Fancy Pants Designs goodies and make something awesome! For this project, I chose the Wave Searcher patterned papers. I decided to make a mini album using the banner kit, because I knew I would have some great pictures of July 4th weekend at the lake (our "beach" here  in Utah!! I really do miss the ocean...)  I love how the little pocket to hold pictures and journaling came out! There is room for more, depending on how many pictures you have. On the next page, I thought the tiki strip would be cool to use some photo booth pictures ... you know, the ones where you all cram inside this little space and make funny faces! Whichever papers you decide to use, have fun with it!  All of the embellishments were a blast, including the stamps, which I used on the back cover. Thanks for checking in on my latest creation! I hope you have as much fun with this line as I have!   Have a wonderful 4th of July and get creating!!!"

So, now are you ready to get to some summer scrappin'? We hope are Pocket Chicks have inspired you! Please come back again tomorrow, we may just have a little peek at our next release!!!

Fancy This: 4th of July Star

Jess Mutty - Star1

Independence Day is one of those holidays that doesn't always get a lot of attention when it comes to home decor. We have cookouts and fireworks and maybe put out a few extra flags but why not really celebrate the birthday of America in style! I used red, white, and blue patterns from Childish Things and Country Boutique today to create this fun and festive 4th of July decorative star.

Fancy Pants Design Supplies:
Childish Things: Imagination patterned paper
Childish Things: Snack Time patterned paper
Childish Things: Book Shelf patterned paper
Country Boutique: Defined patterned paper
Childish Things: Chipboard Banners
Childish Things: Trims
Childish Things: Alpha Stickers
Assorted buttons

Other Supplies:
Large wood star
Small wood stars
Paint
Marker
Twine
Stick pins

Instructions:
1. Cover the large wood star with the solid red paper. Trace the star on to the red checked pattern and cut it out about 1/2" inside the trace line. Adhere it to the center. Cut a round or doily shape from the white Defined paper and adhere to the center. Doodle stitching around all edges. Cut 4-5 one inch strips from the blue star pattern and ruffle them. Adhere them with hot glue around the outside edge of the wood star.
Jess Mutty - Star2

2. Wrap the large red striped ribbon around the bottom half of the star. Use hot glue to pinch together a bow from another piece of the ribbon. Add a couple of stacked, twine tied buttons to the center of the bow.
Jess Mutty - Star3

3. Add your title in alpha stickers to the center of the star. Pierce two Childish Things chipboard banner pennants with stick pins and stick them in the paper above the title. Add some twine tied buttons and a small white painted star to their centers.
Jess Mutty - Star4

4. Cut five small stars from the white patterned paper. Adhere a small blue painted wood star to the center of each and add these stars to the five points of the large star.
Jess Mutty - Star5

5. Border punch three 12" x 1"-1.5" strips of coordinating paper. Accordion fold each strip, adhere it into a circle and hot glue it flat onto a scrap of paper. Punch coordinating circles to adhere to the fronts of the accordion flowers and add doodled stitching. Cut three coordinating stars and add doodled stitching. Add small painted wood stars to the centers of each. Punch a hole in the top of each accordion accent and three holes in the bottom of the large star. Use twine to hang the accordion accents from the bottom of the star.
Jess Mutty - Star6

And that's it! This is a great little project to create instead of a wreath for your front door or to give to your cookout hostess. Thanks for taking a peek today. I hope I have inspired you to make something festive for your 4th of July celebration!

Inspiration From The Everyday: Vintage Poster

Hey, hey Fancy Pants blog readers ... it's summer & cause to celebrate! I feel inspired by sunshine, warmth & fun times and hope you will be too, by the project I have to share today.

I love vintage print, posters and ads. I love the colors used, fonts, and overall design of yester-year, hence my need to have a folder on Pinterest filled to bursting with inspiration I can draw on. This poster caught my eve for today's "Everyday Inspiration" post.

Kim Watson+ Everyday inspo+FP June

Looking at the page design, I felt challenged by the unusual color blocking & image placement. I thought interpreting it into a scrapbook page would be great fun for us to try. Please find below a sketch to help our creative process.

Kim Watson+June sketch+ FP

Kim Watson+H2O Chutes+FP

As per the poster shown above, I placed my blue panels at the top of the page to become my "sky" & I divided up the bottom red panel into "red & yellow" representing "sand". Keeping a central focal point by clustering the photos in the middle just as they did, grounded the page perfectly. I found by adding 'playful' accents around the photographs, a sparkly sun & fun title, softened the very graphic page layout. In keeping with the inspiration piece the addition of white stitching along the angles added interest & texture.

The bright, summery papers & accents from the Summer Soul collection perfectly complimented these crazy photos of my little guy & his friend at the water chutes.

I encourage you to look for inspiration in the most unlikely places. One can be inspired by just about anything.

Happy Wednesday!

Fancy This: Laundry Signage

PamelaY_LaundrySignage

Hi everyone!  I've got a fun project to share with you today that has a purpose.  We are trying to get the kids more involved in the chores around the house.  Previously they had been just piling all the laundry on the floor in the laundry room and leaving me to deal with it.  Well I have told them now that they need to sort it out.  I made some signs using the Half Bracket Chipboard Banners to hang on the baskets so the kids know what goes where.

Fancy Pants Designs Supplies:
Artist Edition: Half Bracket Chipboard Banners
Time For Spring: Spring Floral patterned paper
Time For Spring: Ruffles patterned paper
Time For Spring: Gingham Dress patterned paper
Time For Spring: Tip Me Over patterned paper
Time For Spring: Sugar & Cream patterned paper
Time For Spring: Flower Patch patterned paper
Time For Spring: Sweet'ner patterned paper
Time For Spring: Short & Stout patterned paper
Time For Spring: Die Cuts
Time For Spring: Alpha Stickers

Other Supplies:
Gesso
Ink
Embroidery Floss
Burlap
Crackle

Instructions:
1. First I covered my chipboard banners with some of my favorite pieces of paper from the fabulous Time For Spring collection, and cut them out.
PamelaY_Laundry-Banners-tutorial-picture-1

2. I painted on some gesso in the center of my banner pieces, and added some splatters as well. You can use white paint instead of gesso.

3. I glued some burlap to the back of my pieces.
PamelaY_Laundry-Banners-tutorial-picture-2

4. I took the letter stickers and added the labels (colors, whites, delicates, towels) that we use to each piece.

5. I then added a crackle texture technique. It is painted over the whole piece including the letters. It helps keep everything securely on (so no missing letters later) but it's also just a cool look! I added a bit of pink ink to the cracks.
PamelaY_Laundry-Banners-tutorial-picture-3

6. Then I decorated each banner piece using strips of papers, flowers, stitching and ribbon.
PamelaY_Laundry-Banners-tutorial-picture-4

PamelaY_Laundry-Banners-tutorial-picture-6

PamelaY_Laundry-Banners-tutorial-picture-7

7. Then I added them with ribbon to my baskets.  :)

Of course, you can make this a quicker, simpler project by skipping some of my steps, but anybody can do this fun project!  I am thinking of doing more projects for my laundry now with the collection to match these.  :)

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!!  Have a wonderful day!

Product Spotlight: Wave Searcher Stamps

  WaveSearcherStampgroup

Summer is almost here! So let's kick it off with some hot ideas from our Pocket Chicks using our Wave Searcher Stamps!

Vicki Product spotlight june 13 1
Patio Gift Set by Vicki Chrisman
Vicki says, "I had so much fun creating this little summer themed set for a friend. Their home is on a lake front so summertime means outdoor entertaining for them. I thought this would be great to have ready to go, for taking out to the patio table. I used the Wave Searcher Stamps to create name tags to tie on drink bottles for guests.  I made a matching permanent marker for guest to add their names to their tags. I also stamped on the plain white napkins just to add to the fun.

Vicki Product spotlight june 13 2

Along with the stamps I used papers, chipboard, buttons, and a transparentcy, all also from the Wave Searcher line to create this patio serving set.

The salt and pepper were oringinally clear. I wrapped the "Flocked Transparency" around them to make them a little more fun:)"

You Are My Sunshine card by Yuki Shimada
Yuki says, "What I love about these stamps is that they are the perfect size for the card making!
I stamped two TIKI images on the right of the card. The arrow image from the To The Beach stamp is really versatile. I stamped then cut them out for my title work. I cut out the title letters from the Boarting patterned paper using my Silhouette. I really love the bold color of this paper."

Down To The Beach card by Yuki Shimada
Yuki says, "I used 3 stamps for my card. I chose the Wave searcher silhouette image for my main design.
I also stamped and cut the little banner image. I love this cute tiny banner image!  I used the To The Beach image for a part of my title."

For a hint of shine and pop of color, Betsy heat embossed the surfer silhouette image with black embossing powder and misted the background on this striking card.

Betsy-V-Totem-Pole-Card
Congrats card by Betsy Veldman
Betsy shares, "This card is a little play on the idea of 'climbing the totem' pole. I stamped the images with brown ink and colored them with copics."

Fancy This: Wedding Display

WeddingDisplay

My dear hubby and I are coming up on our fifteenth wedding anniversary soon. So, when I recieved the new Country Boutique line, that includes a wedding series within the collection, I knew I had to make a unique piece in celebration of our wedded bliss. :-) The display above is what I came up with and I'll be surprising my love with it as a gift.

Here is what I used to create it...

Fancy Pants Designs Supplies:
Country Boutique: Die Cuts
Country Boutique: Banner Die Cuts
Country Boutique: Wedding Cards patterned paper
Country Boutique: Wedding Script patterned paper
Be You: Trim
Artist Edition: Metal Charms
Artist Edition: Trim (Black)

Other supplies:
old ruler
clips
jute
stick pin
buttons
brad
foam adhesive
hot glue gun

WeddingDisplaySupplies

And here is how I made it...

 Instructions:
1. Collect bits and pieces and photos (average size 2x3") for your collage.
2. Cut out one of the cards from the Wedding Cards patterned paper.
3. Trace template (included with Metal Charm) and cut "with love" from the Wedding Script patterned paper. Adhere to inside of Metal Charm.
4. Cut a strip of paper to fit the back of your ruler. Arrange die cut ribbon shapes and Be You trim along paper strip and adhere. The adhere strip to back of ruler.
5. Arrange and adhere photos, die cuts, wedding card and embellishments as desired. Note: I used bits of jute as accents ... tied around my small photo, threaded through a large button, and tied to the Metal Charm. I also used a stick pin and one of the small ribbon die cutes to make a mini flag.
6. Hot glue clips to ruler and clip some photo and die cuts in place.

WeddingDisplaySteps

Here are a few detail shots.

I hope you enjoyed this project as much as I enjoyed creating it! It was fun reminiscing about our special day as I created it and it made me that much more thankful to have such a wonderful man to spend my life with. I can't wait for the next fifteen + years!

Guest Designer: Kathryn Krieger

When I first saw the Fancy Pants Designs Be You collection, I knew I wanted to use it to scrapbook this series of photos for my sister. These pictures are from the New Zealand leg of a three month backpacking trip she took through South East Asia. I thought the powerful message of the Be You collection would be perfect to showcase her memories from a time when she felt like she could go anywhere and be anything she wanted. This series of layouts is now hanging in her apartment as wall art, and is a message to live life with honesty, integrity and joy.

BeYouLayoutandSketch

When I sat down to plan this project, I decided I wanted to show how a scrapper could use the same basic layout design (you'll see the three sketches look very similar) to create three layouts that look different individually, but all go together as a series. Using the same basic structure for each layout allowed me to unify them visually, but changing the photos, papers and embellishments allowed them to each maintain their own unique look.

In this age of email, texting, twitter and facebook, it's easier than ever to communicate with our friends and family. While I enjoy the instantaneous communication modern technology provides, I also know that I love it when someone takes the time to send me a card or letter.

I Heart U CardandSketch

One way that we can have cards on hand to send our friends and family is to make a few quick cards with the scraps from our layouts. Here are two examples of very simple cards that can be made quickly and easily and still bring a lot of joy into someone's day.

Time For Spring Winners

TimeForSpringHomeRotatorBlog

We loved reading all of your comments on what you would do with our new Time For Spring collection! Thansk to all for commenting. We have chosen our two winners by random number generator. And the winners are...

Great collection! I'd use this paper for a scrapbook album. Instead of the masculine pages that I normally create (two males in this house), I would focus on an album with those beautiful, bright, cheerful colors and make the album about myself (a long time goal).

GORgeous new collection. I WOULD use it for Easter and some pretty cards for sure!!! Love it! TFS!

Fancy This: Congrats Banner

 JJN_Banner

June has arrived and with it the graduation season!  Fancy Pants Designs has the most perfect school related collection in Off to School for all kinds of fun projects.  This year, the daughter of a friend of mine at work is graduating from high school. To help out with the celebration, I made a banner for her graduation open house. With Fancy Pants Designs' Artist Edition Banners and the Off to School collection, I was able to quickly put together this banner.  This is a very quick to make project and I have a few photos to show you just how easy it is to do!

Fancy Pants Designs Supplies:
Off to School: Cards patterned paper
Off to School: New Shoes patterned paper
Off to School: No.2 Pencil patterned paper
Off to School: Measure Up patterned paper
Off to School: School Year patterned paper
Off to School: Learnking patterned paper
Off to School: Book Cover patterned paper
Off to School: Cake Time patterned paper
Off to School: Glitter cuts
Off to School: Rubon-ons
Off to School: Buttons
Artist Edition Banners: Ribbon Edge

Other Supplies:
Glue

Instructions:
1. Select patterned papers to be used for the eight banner pieces. Trace the chipboard banner pieces and cut the patterned papers. JJN_Banner-002

2. Cut the patterned paper named "Cards" into 12 pieces of cards and set them aside. JJN_Banner-001

3. Use a solid color patterned paper and cut out the letters using your favorite die-cut machine.
Layer the patterned paper, card, and letter.  Use 3-d adhesives to assemble everything together to give the banner piece dimension.

4. Decorate the banner pieces with rubons, cut-outs, and glitter cuts.

5. Use the ribbon included in the Artist Edition Banners. Cut 7 pieces of ribbons, each about 3 inches.
Connect the banner pieces with the 3-inches ribbons and stitch a button onto them. Cut 2 pieces of ribbons 8 - 12 inches for the ends of the banner for hanging.

With the help of the chipboard banners from the Artist Edition Banners, this really is an easy project to tackle!  I look forward to seeing it hanging at the graduation party for my friend's daughter!  Here's to her and all the graduates this time of the year!! Congrats!
