Have you been enjoying the Fancy Friday Freebies we've been sharing? We hope so! Our Pocket Chicks sure have been having fun with them! We wanted to share some of their projects with you today for some FFF inspiration! Each of our Pocket Chicks used at least one (or more) FFF in their projects below. Take a look...

Travel by Jing-Jing Nickel
Jing-Jing says, "I downloaded the It's the Little Things rub-on and then converted it into an SVG cut.  After removing the birdie in its cage, it made for a lovely corner accent piece. I decorated the chipboard frame with it."

BetsyVeldman_MemoNotebook_FPD
Memo Notebook by Betsy Veldman
Betsy says, "I created a fun journaling notebook using the Journaling Notepad and The Good Life Ribbon. I embellished my notebook by simply mimicking some of the digital elements. I wrapped some twine around the twine image and topped it with a chipboard button. I also added a real paper clip over the digital version ... the result is a fun 3D look.

Betsy-freebiefridayhowto1
Betsy-freebiefridayhowto2

A quick tip for creating dimensional elements using digital images—print several of them, cut out elements and layer with foam adhesive. To make my dimensional ribbon accent, I printed the Good Life Ribbon four times and cut them out as shown in the photo. I added a bit of stitching, layered them with foam and voila!  A fun, dimensional accent!

Yuki_memorybook
Memory Brag Book by Yuki Shimada
Yuki explains, "I’m a big fan of Fancy Friday Freebies! I’m looking forward to new fun art every Friday. I have already posted 1 project using a Library Card last month. Today I’d like to share another project using 5 freebies with you! I made my Memory Book 2013 using a Brag Book. I printed and hand cut the Journaling Notepad, the Country Boutique Digital Garland, and The Good Life Ribbon for the cover page.

Yuki_memorybook_1

The Artist Edition Banner is perfect for title space! I printed numbers from the digital Off to School digital collection. I got 2 sets of alphas and numbers only for $2.99! You can purchase it at jessicasprague.com

Yuki_memorybook_4

I think the Love Note Tag is so versatile. I printed it around 6 inches wide and inserted it in the Brag Book.

Yuki_memorybook_7

I used my favorite stamp from The Good Life collection and stickers from the Off to School collection on it."

Greta Hammond_CardSet_FPD
Card Set by Greta Hammond
Greta says, "These downloads (Love Note Tag and Journaling Notepad) are so easy print and use on just about anything. I chose to layer them onto some cards using the Hopscotch line. They are a great addition!"

So, how's that for some inspiration? Have you downloaded and used any of our Freebies yet? Post your projects to our Facebook Page!  We love seeing our fan's creations!

Guest Designer: Amy Heller

Hi everyone! It's Amy Heller here today I'm so excited to be guesting for Fancy Pants this month! A little about me:

I was introduced to scrapping in 2004, like many scrappers, from an in-home party. But I didn't scrap with real consistency until 2008, once my kids were a bit older and out of their infancy stages. :) As a graphic designer by profession, this hobby has brought me back to the fundamental reasons why I fell in love with design in the first place: paper, color, letter form and layout. My style has of course evolved from those early days. Now I would definitely say that I have a fun, cheerful, colorful and whimsical style. I LOVE to layer pattern, color and texture (especially with buttons, ribbon and sewing). I think it's safe to say that I love to embellish on my work. :) I currently design for Two Peas in a Bucket as a Garden Girl, October Afternoon, and Lily Bee Design where I serve as the Design Team Coordinator. I've been fortunate to have had my work published in several amazing magazines ranging from Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbook Trends, CARDS, Paper Crafts as well as Scrapbooks and Cards Today. I am from the beautiful state of Washington, but I currently live in a small town in Connecticut with my awesome husband of 12 years, our daughter, who is nearly 10 and our son who is 6.

I had the terrific opportunity to work with the very newest collections from Fancy Pants Designs, Hopscotch and Home for Christmas. I had so much fun with both collections. They are both wonderfully versatile and beautiful collections!

FP_YouAreMySunshineLO_AH
You Are My Sunshine, My Only Sunshine
At first glance Hopscotch may appear a very Spring or Summer-inspired collection. Of course you can certainly use this collection for those seasons, but since we are headed straight into Fall here in my neck of the woods, I thought I would try to use this fabulous collection for some photos I took recently during our transition from Summer to Fall.

FP_SunshineLO_detail2_AH

FP_Sunshine_Detail3_AH

FP_SunshineLO_detail1_AH

I used the circle that is drawn on this background sheet as the jumping off point for my warm late-summer sunshine in the corner of this page. It also serves as a great shape to frame my photos that I wanted to layer up with lots of movement, just as if my son is swinging on the swing right on the page.

FP_SmilesareSoulKissesLO_AH
Smiles Are Soul Kisses
For this next page, I really wanted to bring Hopscotch right into Autumn. The warm oranges, yellows, browns and tangerine hues make it a cinch to create beautiful fall layouts.

FP_SmilesLO_Detail1_AH

FP_SmilesLO_Detail3_AH

FP_SmilesLO_Detail2_AH

I really love the ombre effect in the background papers and the polka dots here, coupled with the white washed papers add lightness and warmth. Not all fall pages need bee dark and heavy, and these papers display that perfectly!

FP_ChristmasCardsSet_AH
Christmas Cards Set
I just love the Home for Christmas collection! Filled with warm traditional colors coupled with trendy patterns make this a wonderful collection for this upcoming holiday season.

FP_HappyHolidaysCard_AH

FP_MerryChristmasCard_AH

FP_MerryChristmasCard_detail1_Ah

I created a set of cards using all aspects from this collection, from banners, stickers, ribbons, alphabets and buttons, I know that I will be making many more holiday cards from this collection. It really is lovely and warm without being too conservative, which I love!

I sure had fun with these latest collections, Hopscotch and Home for Christmas! I have loved working with Fancy Pants Designs this month and hope you are just as inspired to work with them, as I was! Thank you so much for having me join you this month! Please stop by and visit my blog.

YouTube Tuesday: Stamping Into Craft Foam

AmyPeterman_3rdGrade

Hey Fancy Fans! It's Amy here, again. Today, I'm sharing a little technique from my layout above, using craft foam (those spongey sheets of foam you can find at most crafts stores) and our The Good Life stamps! Take a look!

Here are a couple more detail shots, so you can get a closer look at what the different stamps with different textures look like. Fun, huh?

AmyPeterman_3rdGrandDetail1

AmyPeterman_3rdGradeDetail2

This technique would also be fun to use for accents on cards, tags, or I could even see these little round accents hot-glued to some hair clips for a little girl.... Hmmm, I may need to get on that one for stocking stuffers for my girls. :-)

I hope you enjoyed the technique. If you try it out for yourself, please share it on the Fancy Pants Designs Facebook page. I'd love to see what you create!

Fancy This: The Good Life Layout

Fancypants21sept 002
Hello everyone! Just me stopping by with a cute layout using THE GOOD LIFE line!  I love the vibrant colors and all the patterns!  I hope you like what I've come up with!

Fancy Pants Designs supplies:
The Good Life: Patterned Papers (Sweet, Fun, Laughter, That Way, Tokens, Labeled, All Good, Live)
The Good Life: Sticker Fundamentals

Other supplies:
Cuttlebug
Sizzix "decorative flourishes" set
decorative stitch stamp
black ink

Instructions:
1. I chose the SWEET paper as my background (mainly because I love the crackled wood look!)  From there, I chose 5 other patterns for my mock quilt element, (Labeled, All Good, That Way, and Fun). I cut them into strips and pieced them together onto a scrap piece of paper, and then stamped my decorative "stitches". I inked all edges and adhered them together on my background.
Bear lakefancypants 001

Bear lakefancypants 013

2. Next, using the LAUGHTER paper, I fussy cut a bunch of flowers, even using the end pieces (waste not, want not!) Again, I inked the edges in black (I don't think I know how NOT to ink!)
Bear lakefancypants 009

3. Then I took the 3 phrase stickers and stuck them on some small scraps and made little flags out of them, again inking the edges. I also cut THE GOOD LIFE off of the LABELED paper, and matted it on the black side of FUN. (psst... I inked the edges)
Bear lakefancypants 010

4. I knew I wanted some little flourishes, so I cut some on my Cuttlebug using the FUN, LIVE and TOKENS paper. Again, (you guessed it...) I inked the edges!
Bear lakefancypants 012

5. Once the decorative elements were complete, I matted my 5 x 7 picture of my husband and I at the Grand Tetons this summer with the solid black side of FUN and the crackled red side of TOKENS. I inked the edges, and added a sticker element tab with the date 2012 on the side.
Bear lakefancypants 014

6. Now that I had all the elements together, it was time to start laying it all out. It took a few tries with the flowers, but I finally came up with this arrangement, using pop dots to raise some of them for depth. Then, I added the flourishes, the phrase stickers and a few buttons.
Bear lakefancypants 015

7. You could add a few 'real' stitches in places to your layout as well. I wanted to, but since my whole house is in flux because of new carpeting getting put in, Valerie couldn't find her thread or her needles... I fully intend on adding them once they turn up!!! I hope you have enjoyed this little project!  Happy Scrapping everyone!

Sketch Time Inspiration!

FPD_Sept2012Sketch
Happy Thursday everyone! Have you heard about our monthly Sketch Challenge yet? The sketch above is our September sketch and we'd love to have you join us in the challenge! Check out this post for the details on how you can have the chance to win some Fancy goodies when you create a project based on this sketch. (Psst! The challenge ends Sept.26, so you still have time!)

Our Pockets Chicks have taken the challenge and they're sharing their projects here today to give you some inspiration! Take a look!

PamelaY_Happy-Happy-Good-Life
Happy by Pamela Young
Pamela says, "I added a bit more embellishments to the sketch, but other than that I followed it pretty closely. I LOVE this fun collection (The Good Life). I combined it with the awesome white corrugated cardstock and it made the color on the papers just pop! Another product I just LOVE are the new Artist Edition Stencil Cards, they are a great addition to any page!"

FP Be Happy1
Be Happy by Piradee Talvanna
Piradee says, "I love the sketch that Jodi provided, the possibilities to create with it is just endless. And for my layout I wanted to create a balance between the white space and being able to incorporate all the different elements. Using the Summer Soul collection, I first started cutting various pattern papers for the center piece and also created a fun confetti envelop in the middle. Then using the rub-ons, I added the faux stitching to the sides and cut out the flower to be used as an embellishment. Then finally, using my silhouette machine I cut the title for the layout with one of the pattern papers; to complete the layout. Be Happy!"

JessMutty_Introducing
Introducing... by Jess Mutty
Jess says, "I immediately knew when I saw this sketch that it would be perfect for a page featuring my baby girl's birth announcement. The design is simple and keeps the focus on the photo area. My 5x7 card was already a collage and it had plenty of detail so I didn't want to overwhelm the page with lots of embellishments. And it was super excellent that the Hopscotch line perfectly matched my announcement colors!"

Vickis layout from Sept 21 sketch
Home by Vicki Chrisman
Vicki says, "I love the Country Boutique line and thought that I would choose papers from the line that were monocromatic in color. I like how the subtle colors and patterns are so beatutiful, but still keep the focus on the photo."

Are you inspired? We hope you are! And we can't wait to see what you come up with using this sketch! Don't forget to post to our Facebook page and specify that your project is for the September Sketch Challenge. See you soon!

Fancy This: JOY Banner

JoyBanner_SuzanneSergi_FanyPantsDesigns

Hi, everyone! It is Suzanne with a simple, and quick decor project using the 12x12 Corrugated Sheets by Fancy Pants Designs. I was inspired by a card set I found at my local craft store made from corrugated chipboard. Well, after seeing this, I knew I could create my own. I created a banner for my daughter's room, to sit on a shelf.

Fancy Pants Designs Supplies:
Time For Spring: Die Cuts
Time For Spring: Gingham Dress 12x12 Paper
Time For Spring: Pour Me Out 12x12 Paper
Time For Spring: Tea Towel 12x 12 Paper
Time For Spring: Sweetner 12x12 Paper
Time For Spring: Short & Stout 12x12 Paper
Artist Edition: Filter Paper Embellishments
Country Boutique: Corrugated Paper (Kraft)
Wave Searcher: Buttons

Other supplies:
Scraps of Chipboard
Embossing Folder
String
Inks

Instructions:
First, you need to decide on what size you would like to make your banner. I made it simple, and my dimensions were 6" x 5", and I then scored it right down the middle, so it would fold easily.
SuzanneSergi_FP_Joy_1

To give my corrugated banner a bit more stability, I adhered scraps of chipboard to the back. It can stand alone, and this step is not necessary. However, just a bit more stability, if you plan on displaying your banner for awhile.
SuzanneSergi_FP_Banner_2

Next, I added some ink to distress the edges a bit. Super easy! How cute would a Christmas Banner be, using Fancy Pants Design Home For Christmas line? You can add even more panels, and customize your own words!
SuzanneSergi_FP_JoyBanner_3

Next, pull out your favorite papers from Fancy Pants Designs. Since this was for my daughter, I pulled from the Time For Spring collection. I cut several strips, and borders from some of my favorite patterns.
SuzanneSergi_FP_JoyBanner_4

For quick embellishments, I used flowers found on the Time For Spring Die Cuts. I ran through my embossing folder to add a bit more texture to them.
SuzanneSergi_FP_JoyBanner_5

Here is detail of each of the panels:

I hope you enjoyed this decor project. I think I will be making a Christmas one, next! Have a great day everyone!

The Things I Love

Hello again! Today I wanted to share with you just a quick little thought:
Summer-love-quotes
I recently worked on a book for a class that I was teaching and it was about the The Things I Love ... I found this quote AFTER I made the book, and it got me to wondering if the things I love reflect this quote?

ThingsILoveBargBook_JodiSanford

And, after looking back through it, I realized that everything in there, "the things I love"  and my happiness truly is based on the happiness of those around me ... my husband, my sweet kids, my family, my friends, my work ... it's all what I love, but it's not as rewarding if the people you love aren't sharing in your happiness! So, I just wanted to share that little quote and a few images from my album and challenge you to make a book about the things you love ... I used a Brag Book so that I could keep adding to it ... there is always more to love :)! Have a great rest of the week!

Fancy This: Favor Packages

Kim Watson+ Finished favor packages+ FP

I am scheduled to chat to a group of 12 teenage school girls next week & thought it might be great to make some 'Thanks-for-coming' favor packages to include with the book they get to take home with them.

Given that I needed to make 12 packages, I had to keep the process simple & cost effective. Below is a step-by-step tutorial on how to make them.

Fancy Pants Designs supplies needed:
Be You: patterned papers
Be You: Chipboard Pieces

Other supplies:
Glassine bag
Twine
Candy or small gift
Decorative border punch
Scallop circle punch
Adhesive

Kim Watson+Favor package step outs+FP

Instructions:
1) Cut a strip of patterned paper 10x3".

2) Trim the 2" waste strip to 1" & stick a piece on one end of your 10" patterned paper piece.

3) Lay your patterned paper piece horizontally on score-board. Score at 1" exactly behind contrast strip, then at 5", then at 6.26"

4) Fold at score lines.

5) Punch edge of contrast strip.

6) Using a 2" scalloped circle punch, punch out a 'window' on the top layer of your package.

7) Fill glassine bag with favors & fold over the open bag top for strength. Punch holes to secure bag, paper piece & flap, then tie with twine.

8) Decorate front. I used the collection name from the patterned papers to make little flags.

9) Hook front cover under scalloped edge.

Kim Watson+Favor packages #2+ FP

Kim Watson+Favor packages+Cls#1+FP

The great thing about these packages is that you can make x4 from a single piece of double sided patterned paper and they can be made economically & quickly to suit any occasion or holiday celebration. Now that I think about it, I can imagine them in a back to school theme or Halloween theme. I am finitely going to make more soon. If you try them yourselves, remember to post them on our Facebook page.

have a great day!

Guest Designer: Shanna Noel

Hiya!! My name is Shanna Noel and I am so thankful to be here as the guest for September! What a fun gig! I live in Sonoma County California with my sweet husband and our two little ladies. We have finally moved back home near family after 13 years moving all over the United States! I never thought I would be so happy to be home!

I started paper scrapbooking in June of 2011 and instantly fell in love. I come from a digital scrapbooking background and I loved that with paper my kids could play along too! And boy do they ever! They love making little mini books to doodle in, etc.

It it always a lot of fun when you are sent a box of goodies to create with. It is like a little challenge, so much fun! I was actually sent the Little Sport collection, since we don't watch sports and only participate in the swim team, this really was a challenge. But you know what? Fancy Pants has some AMAZING B sides! My box was also full of CHEVRON! Hello, chevron!
FP.SEPT.LO2
It was my mother-in-law's birthday, and some of her favorite colors are red, black and teal so this collection could not be more perfect! My mother-in-law is also a paper crafter (cards mostly) so I simply attatched the Tape Sticker sheet, from The Good Life collection, to the back side of the card front (behind the die-cut title) with a bit of the Tape Stickers. This way she could pull off the stickers and use them again!

My love for chevrons is going strong. Strong enough in fact that in our new house I painted the floors a NICE & BIG chevron. I know I am crazy. But to tell you the truth? I could NOT LOVE IT MORE!!!! I love all the chevrons that were included in my Fancy Pants Designs paper!

Do you ever look at your children and wonder where your baby went? That's what happened this morning, oh my she is getting big!  I loved this yellow paper with the graphic arrows on it (from The Good Life collection)! To really make it pop I cut a couple out and added some of the Tape Stickers behind it to bring some detail.

Fancy Pants Designs has some amazing lines coming out! I can't wait to see what you all do with them!! Thank you so much for having me this month! I had a lot of fun! xox-

Headbands and Happiness {organization}

Hello Fancy Pants Designs Friends! I have really been missing out on a lot of the fun that happens here with our amazing design team so I really wanted to find a way to keep myself in the creating loop! The only way to do that was to commit myself to a weekly post! So, looks like you will get to see a lot more of me ... every Wednesday to be exact!  {Unless I miss a week here and there—I've been known to do that ;P, but I'm hoping that won't be the case!} Anyway, I don't have any fabulous title or theme in mind for my posts, I'm just going to be throwing out some fun and random things and ideas that come to me after scrapping for so many year ... I'll be pulling out some old pages, old Fancy Pants Designs product even, along with the fun and the new and just sharing my own thoughts and ideas that I'm doing for my own creative needs and hopefully they'll inspire you to try something new :)!

For my first 'official' post, I wanted to share a fun little idea I found on Pinterest!  **Disclaimer :): I can't find the original link—it just takes me back to google, but I wanted to post the image here to share the cute concept I built my own out of!  {I didn't add the little stand to mine as it was going into a drawer, but I think the stand is super cute for on the counter viewing!}
Google.com
So it started one morning when I was trying to find all the odds and ends needed to do my girls' hair for school this year. We hadn't been doing hair much over the summer, so the chaos of getting back to school made me realize I needed to organize a bit! Anyway, I had seen this image on pinterest a while back, pinned it to my board and went on my way ... but, it was definitely stuck in my mind as I made sure to save our next oatmeal canister to serve it's purpose :)!
HeadbandHolder_JodiSanford_FancyPantsDesigns

Rather than paint the oatmeal box, I opted for covering it with paper—I used our new The Good Life collection items! You can see the fun patterns peeking through the headbands which adds a little creative touch!

Next, I added some mini ball trim around the top edge for some cute detail ... then, I decorated the lid topper of it with some fun little accents and words from our awesome new Sticker Fundamentals sets! I love the mini letters and the diction words ... they make it simple and fun for small things! It was just a few little words to remind my girls why we get up and do our hair every morning ... even if we don't want to :)!
HeadbandsCloseUp

And, for the inside, we're storing our fabric and sporty type headbands that can fold up ... so, this awesome little piece serves two headband holding purposes!  Plus, I whipped it up in less than an hour and my bathroom drawer is thanking me for that time :) ... so is my sanity! I hope you enjoyed this project and just maybe got your creative juices flowing with all that you can do with leftover "stuff" at the house! See you next week!

Fancy This: Straw Badges

StrawBadges

Happy Labor Day! I hope our US fans are enjoying a day off today! I wanted to share a little project that could be a fun addition to your Labor Day festivies or any party. These straw badges are perfect for that  time when you have many friends gathered and need to keep track of whose drink belong to whom.

Fancy Pants Designs supplies:
Hopscotch: patterned papers (I used Stroling, Classic and Seamstress)
Straw Badge download
Little Ribbon download
Various Fancy Pants Designs items to decorate (chipboard letters, buttons, paper flowers, felt, etc.)

other supplies:
straws
hot glue gun
foam adhesive
die cutting machine (optional)

Instructions:
First, download the Straw Badge art and cut on a die-cutting machine. If you don't have a die-cutting machine, you can cut 3" circles and punch holes to slip yout straw through.
StrawBadgesstep1

Once you have your straw in place, decorate the badges as desired. I found it easier this way, rather than doing all the decorating and then slipping the straw through.
StrawBadgestep2

For a final touch, print and cut the Little Ribbon art. You can do this with a die-cutting machine or by hand.
StrawBadgesstep3

Adhere the Little Ribbon art to the badges. You can write a sentiment on them and include an initial for the person whose drink it belongs to...
StrawBadgeDetail3

You can include the party-goer's photo and "let's party!"...
StrawBadgeDetail1

Or you can have each guest write their own name on a badge when they arrive to the party...
StrawBadgeDetail2

I hope you enjoyed this simple little party idea. Have a wonderful Labor Day!
