Layout Inspiration

I hope you all had a fun and fabulous weekend!  We're back today with more inspiration from Yuki Shimada. {By the way--if you check out her cute blog, you'll see the super cute header in the top left that she created using one of our Friday Freebies! If you've missed them, you can find all of our awesome free printables/downloads  HERE!}

Yuki's been busy creating with our Blissful Blizzard and Love Note collections and created a great layout by mixing the two lines...I just love it...and the cute little yarn accent is super fun, too!  Check it out!

Lovin' the use of the stencil here...and the colors mix perfectly!

The corrugate paper adds a nice rustic feel to match the wood paper, and pretty texture for the softer details of the page as well!  Perfection :)!

Fancy Pants Designs DESIGN TEAM CALL!

More specific details here:

**Preferably designer submissions will show different ways to use Fancy Pants Designs scrapbooking/crafting products (though not required) as well as different project formats.  If possible, include 2 layout designs (1 or 2 page spreads); 1 card; and 1 altered project (Brag Book, mini albums, altered items, home decor, etc.)
**Resume Submission:  Please tell us about yourself with a short bio and, if possible, include a headshot as well.  Let us know about previous and/or current design team experience along with anything else you feel might be pertinent to this call!  Oh---and be sure to link us up to your blog if you have one!
**And last,  we ask that our designers have a great dedication to our brand and would like applicants that are only serving on one (or fewer) manufacturer design teams.  Our team will have the opportunity to not only receive FREE, FANCY and FABULOUS products, but also a regular opportunity to earn CASH for the designs that they create that are used on our blog, in our marketing and more!
**Design Team Requirements will vary, but a good estimate to consider will be 2-3 blog projects per month that will need to include high quality photos (on the pages and of the projects); some posts may require step out instructions. There will also be occasional blog hops and/or special opportunities to team up with other companies within the industry.  Those will vary and not everyone will participate in each one!
I am looking forward to seeing all of your entries and hope you'll find the time to apply!

Cards, Notebooks and Announcements...oh my!

Good morning Fancy Pants Designs fans!  Sorry for our little lax in posting lately...we're making some changes so things are quite as organized as usual.  BUT, that will be changing, be sure to stop back by TOMORROW for a SUPER DUPER FUN ANNOUNCEMENT!  You really won't want to miss it!

Today I wanted to share a goregeous card, along with some beautiful notebooks that our own Yuki Shimada designed using one of last year's collections: Hopscotch!

This beautiful card uses one of the banner die cuts as it's main focus...I love the detail she added to make it really shine!  {Including some of our silver glitter paper for those sparkly butterflies!}

Here's a close up of the details!

Yuki also created some special notebooks that I just adore.  Who wouldn't love using this to jot notes down?!

And a close up of each one!  This first one uses one of the pages from our 4x6 Brag Pads as the cover...super cute and super quick!

And here's a look at the great details on the second notebook!

Thanks for joining us today and we'll see you tomorrow for the OUR FUN ANNOUNCEMENT!

Have a great day!

Welcome to our Valentine's Day post!  The amazingly talented Kim Watson is featuring two gorgeous Valentine's/LOVE layouts for you today, plus another FREE download today for cut-outs on your home cutting machine!  And here you go...from Kim!

Happy ? Valentines day ? everyone!

Today is indeed the day of love! So to round off our fest of crafty loveliness and to honor those we love most in life, I have some projects to share with you using our
Love Note collection.

The gorgeous papers teamed up so well with some of my favorite artsy techniques, resulting in great, sophisticated page about 'grown-up' love. The fun part was creating my background page. The freedom of layering mist, paint & texture paste on to papers is so satisfying, and thought you might like a peek into how I went about it.

Here is an overview of my creative process if you'd like to try this for yourself.
1) Using a small-dot mask, thickly apply texture paste onto a piece of Devotion Newsprint paper.
2) Mist positive & negative heart shapes on-top of the dried texture paste & allow to dry completely.
3) Over-spray the layered page wit a large dot design, using grey mist.
4) Draw chevron arrow shapes using a die cut stencil & thin marker.
5) Splatter ink in a few colors for a little flare, making sure to allow enough time for the page whole page to air dry before completing the rest of page.

Tip: Make the most of your stencils by tracing inside the designs using a thin marker directly onto your page.

Have you noticed that some of the patterned papers of the Love Note collection have plain backs? I love their versatility in that being slightly thinner than cardstock, they are perfect for creating die-cut titles like I did here.

BONUS: We have a little FREEBIE download for you because we love YOU (our fans) so much, and after all it is Valentines day ? .  Please feel free to use the designs for your own personal use, with compliments from Fancy Pants Designs.

 Love You by Kim Watson

I was on a roll after my first page, so couldn't resist a second about my Hubby & I using our  Love Note collection. This time I added the punched-out word 'You' from the Artist Edition Stencils as a title.

Don't you just love the oversized letters? perfect for an eye catching title.

A pink misted sunburst onto white cardstock, made the perfect background for my photos.

Try cutting out and layering the hearts from a piece of Heart Throb patterned paper as a mat for your title.

I hope you found this inspiring!? Remember to keep posting your creations using fancy Pants Designs products to our Facebook page, we'd love seeing & sharing your work with all our fans.

From all of us here, at Fancy Pants Designs, wish you a very Happy Valentine's Day!  Have a love filled one!

Happy Valentine's Week :) and Water Bottle Hanger!

The feeling of love is in the air... Valentine's is definitely a holiday made for crafters! There are so many fun things you can create for your spouse, friends, kids friends, home decor, parties...the list goes on and on!  So, today, we're sharing a fun little paper craft that would be a perfect gift for your kids, or maybe for their teacher... this project can be used year round so be sure to download the template for future use, too!

I know we've been flooding our blog with designs using our Love Note collection, but we can't stop now--it' almost Valentine's Day! So, Lisa has created a fun little project that will be oh so useful for many occasions...step by step!

1.       Download and print the Water (or soda) Bottle Hanger Template HERE.  Using a pencil, trace the template onto your 12 x 12 S.W.A.K. paper and mark scoring lines.  Cut out your template. (You will be able to get two hangers from one sheet of 12 x 12 paper).

        WB1 WB2

2.       Use a scoring mat (if you have one :)) and score where indicated.  Remember to erase any stray pencils marks!  Use a strong adhesive to adhere your hanger together—I used Tombow Mono Multi Liquid.

        WB3 WB4

3.       Next, punch an oval or circle (or cut out) in the top large enough to fit over the water bottle.

4.       Here are some basic instructions on how Lisa embellished her hanger... we're sure you'll find all sorts of ways to design these based on your theme!  So, to decorate the front of the hanger as shown in this blog post, use the Tape Stickers and the Sticker Fundamentals Sheet.  From the Sticker Fundamental sheet, use one of the tabs from the sheet and add to the top left edge of the hanger.  Using the alpha stickers, add “For U” or the recipient’s name.   Run a tape sticker in both directions, crossing in the lower right corner.

       WB6  WB7

5.       Make the flower by die cutting 4 scallop circles out of the Love Post paper, and one slightly larger circle out of the black side of the Be Mine paper.

6.       Fold each scallop circle in quarters and adhere to the black circle, matching corners in the center.

        WB9  WB11

7.       Add a center to your flower--I added small black brads through the holes of a medium gray button and attached it to the center of the flower.  Add your flower to the lower right of your hanger.

8.      Cover the label on the water bottle with a strip of the black check from the Heartthrob paper.

9.      Finally, fill your hanger with some drink mixes and a few mini candy bars and hang on water bottle!!

I was thinking of all sorts of ways to use this gift...a healthy gift for your gym buddy with a water or protein shake, granola bars or protein bars!  Or, a movie gift for your date with a soda, little candy bars, and mini snacks--maybe some movie tickets tucked inside!  Or, if you're really wanting to go the extra mile--wouldn't these make for fabulous team treats?  Gatorade, power bars and chewing gum for every little member on the team!! There are just so many ways this can be used! You can even adjust them template to be a bit wider for larger items to fit---just make sure it's still sturdy for hanging!  I LOVE it and I know you will, too!

Day 5 Fancy Pants Designs and Tombow!

I hope you've been enjoying the different ideas we've been swapping with Tombow and our Love Note collection and are finding lots of ideas on what you can create for Valentine's Day!  There's still time to pick up some Love Note and Tombow products and create away for next week!

Love Note Logo

And even though it is our last day of the blog hop inspiration, don't forget that tomorrow will be your chance to win some be sure to drop in! on with it!  Today, the talented, Yuki, has created two gorgeous cards to share! The first card is super cute and super simple.  The little emblem that is the main focus of the card is just cut right out of the Love Note paper called Smitten! And that cute scalloped piece is also cut from one of the paper designs...Pucker Up! With your main piece ready to go, you'll add a few more layers to your card, some cute buttons and twine, and you've got yourself a super cute card in a matter of minutes!

And a close up view of that Smitten paper cut out!

Next, this card is a bit more soft and sophisticated, and totally speaks Valentine's Day for your special someone! Yuki managed to really balance a nice soft look, with some bright chunky color at the bottom of the card.  It balanced out perfectly, don't you think?

Here's a closer look at the finer details.  The die cut was made using a home die cutting machine and those pretty, delicate little ribbons are from our Artist Edition line of ribbons..they are perfect for finishing this card!  Oh, and the Tombow Aqua glue is a perfect adhesive for those delicate/thin pieces that need to be adhered and the Tombow Multi is great for adhering the ribbons and such!

Well, friends, that concludes our inspiration for the week with Tombow!  I hope that you have found plenty of useful ideas between our fabulous designers and the designers over at Tombow...I know I have.

And one more reminder to stop in tomorrow for your chance to leave a comment and win!  Be sure you "like" us on Facebook so you are always up to date with what we are up to and ways to win FREE scrapbooking supplies! Thanks for following!

Day 4 Fancy Pants Designs and Tombow

Whew...we're rolling through the days here, aren't we!?  Having lots of fun creating unique projects with the mix of our awesome Love Note collection and a variety of very cool Tombow products!

So, today, Pamela is sharing a layout she created of her and her 'special someone'!

Hi everyone!!  Welcome to day 4 of our blog hop ! Besides our Love Note collection, I also used some Artist Edition them {love using the positive and negative pieces}!  I used the fabulous Stamp Runner Permanent Adhesive to put the whole thing together.  Here's my layout:
I have to admit, I am a huge fan of the corrugated paper and I thought the black went cool with the black and white photos I wanted to use.  With the die cut banners and the tape stickers, this page was a cinch.  For a couple special touches to my page, I took my Stamp Runner Permanent Adhesive and just added adhesive in a triangle to my "us" stencil card, and then poured glitter over it for a fun unique look:
Before glitter!
After glitter!
And the Stamp Runner Permanent Adhesive worked very well on my ribbon (which actually comes from the Be You collection).  I just ran my tape runner directly on to the ribbon.  I wanted a little tucked in ripple, so I did that with the adhesive covered ribbon and it stays together well--these adhesives are awesome!

Thanks stopping by the blog today!  I hope you have found a little bit of inspiration from my layout.
And that's what you have from the talented Pamela--be sure to visit her blog!  Be sure to stop in tomorrow!

Day 3 Fancy Pants Designs and Tombow

Welcome to Day 3 of our blog hop with Tombow!  Today we're sharing an adorable coupon book by Greta Hammond!  This book is so cute and a perfect gift for your love{s}!

Here's what Greta had to say about her cute project!

For my Tombow project, I made a little Valentine's Day Coupon Book for a certain someone :) using none other than the Love Note collection!

I created some small envelopes from the Love Note patterned paper and then created a little accordion binding system to tie them together! I used the Tombow Stamp Runner Permanent Adhesive for the binding to make sure my little book doesn't come apart!

I designed some "coupons" on the computer and then added them to the Love Note paper along with the banner tabs to make them easy to pull out. A easy, fun project to give your Valentine this year!

I just love this perfect because it can be perfectly customized ...a personalized coupon book for that special someone! Thanks to Greta for sharing her inspiration with us!

We'll be back tomorrow---join us for more fun with Tombow!

Day 2 Fancy Pants Designs and Tombow

And we're back for day 2 of fun with Tombow

Today we have a fun little "candy filled card" idea --awesome for gift giving-- and a cute {and quick} magnet board that is perfect to showcase the ones you love!

Lisa, from our own offices, created these fun projects to share using the Tombow adhesives.  They are awesome for use on a wide mix of mediums (I love the Tombow Multi Glue for altered projects like these)!

Lisa used some product packaging (we all know you have loads of that from all of your scrapbooking supplies) to create this cute gift giving card! And, of course, our super cute Love Note collection!

And here is a look at a cute magnet board that Lisa decorated so cute!  You can even use an old cookie sheet, or dollar store trays to create super cute magnet boards...{test them out first to make sure they are actually magnetic :) then decide if you want to keep it silver, or spray paint it a color more to your liking!}  And find a SUPER cute photo (or more) of your loved ones to add to the 'cuteness'.  Lisa used a cute picture of her sweet granddaughter!

And, to add even more of your own creativity, create embellishments to top magnets and stick them right on your board. Lisa used sticker words and created a cute heart fan to top a few of her magnets!

It looks just like a scrapbook page, but moveable and changeable...awesome, don't ya think?!

Thanks for joining us again today and be sure to stop by the Tombow Blog to see what they've done with our fun Love Note collection!  See you all tomorrow!

Love Note and Tombow Blog Hopping!

Good Monday Morning Fancy Pants Designs {and Tombow} Fans!

We are excited to be blog hopping this week with our fine friends over at Tombow!  We love their adhesives and teamed up, again, to share more ideas with you using our Love Note collection! There are going to be lots of fun projects for you to whip up for Valentine's Day next week so be sure to stop in each day this week for ideas and drop in on Saturday for the chance to win FREE Fancy Pants Designs and Tombow products!  Enjoy!

Love Note Logo

Today's project is brought to you by the talented Jess Mutty

This little woven paper heart basket will be perfect for your sweetheart!  Just pop a bag of treats inside it and hang it where your love will discover it and it will be sure to delight any Valentine!

1. Cut two 3" x 10" strips of coordinating paper, fold them in half, and round off the open ends.  At 1" and 2" cut straight lines up from the bottom about 3.5".

2. Begin weaving the two halves together: one strip fully inside and then fully outside the opposite strip as shown (not just over and under).  You want the inside of the heart to fully open like a pocket when you are done. The third strip will take a bit of fussing and wiggling.

3. Adhere trim around the outside of the front of the heart.  Build up a series of clustered and layered embellishments on one side of the heart using fussy cuts, stickers, die cuts, buttons and other coordinating pieces.

4. Cut a 2" strip of pink paper and border punch both sides.  Cut a 1" strip of black check paper and gather it in a ruffle using a strip of permanent adhesive. Sew the ruffle down and adhere it to the center of the pink strip.  Use permanent adhesive to attach the handle to the basket.

Now your paper heart basket is ready to fill and hang!

Well, I just LOVED this project that Jess created!  It is so much fun and new little technique that comes in handy for loads for holidays, right?!!

We used a great mix of products Tombow sent over to us including different runners (the Tombow Stamp Runner is a fav of mine), Fastner Tabs and more! Tombow definitely knows adhesives! Be sure to check out what they done with our products over on the Tombow blog!

Thanks for stopping by and we'll see you all tomorrow!
