still time to submit your layout for february's sketch challenge!!
Check out the beautiful layout using our February sketch by design team member, Jenn Shurkus!
i typically make cards. I love to scrapbook, but with all the classes i teach etc. i just don't always find the time. So, I was *super* excited when this month's sketch totally inspired me to create a layout!! I envisioned this heart in my head before i even sat down at my crafty table.
I took a piece of water color paper and created a beautiful background using the Radiant Rain Luminarte Color Concentrates (red poppy & hot cinnamon) and Radiant Rain Shimmering Mists (egyptian gold). Heat set in between layers to really add dimension to your projects!
Then i tore the paper into little squares and attached them in the shape of a heart with claudine hellmuth's matte medium, i wanted them to be lifting up in spits, not flat on the paper.
To create my journaling block: I used my Ranger craft sheet, and added some of the same luminarte product as i used to color my background above, but then i spritzed some water on it. Taking the cardstock and "blotting" it into the "puddles" of luminarte. Again, heat set in between blotting again. it adds layers to your project and really makes the shimmer POP!
Hope you enjoy these fun techniques!

Announcing our newest DT Member, Eva Dobilas
My name is Eva and I live California. I have the most loving and supportive partner and an amazing son who is 21 years old. My two guys are my sunshine! I am a Life Coach and love helping people resolve their issues; it brings me joy to see the a’ha moments in people’s eyes. I have been an avid scrapbooker/cardmaker for the past 14 years. I love to create elegant, classy, sometimes dreamy cards, layouts and 3D projects. I love stamping, and playing with colors, shapes and all kinds of pretty design elements; you could say I am a layered girl. Since I love to play with colors, I have been a huge fan of Luminarte and love to learn and share new techniques using them. It is an understatement that I am thrilled to be asked on the Creative Imaginations team, in fact I am still pinching myself. I hope to bring you lots of inspiration by showing you creations using all the fabulous Creative Imaginations products.
Eva created a card to share with us as her debut for Creative Imaginations and it uses the following Creative Imaginations products along with Unity stamps:
IOD Beloved paper line: Adored
IOD Beloved tags
Narratives Paper Lace Ribbon
Luminarte Twinkling H2O's: Guatemalan Green, Sunburst, Olive Vine

When IOD set out to create an Ocean collection we really wanted to keep it versatile, yet saturated in Warm color with touches of breezy ocean blue. The result was an inviting shabby chic cottage look with whimsical elements including mermaids, starfish and other touches reminiscent of life by the Sea. There are plenty of neutrals in this collection and the color scheme is soft to allow your photos and journaling to take center stage! ~ Artists Sally Griswold & Josie Cerio

When I first see a new collection I am often compelled to ask about the inspiration behind the release. I am never disappointed when I ask the IOD girls, Sally Griswold and Josie Celio! Here is what these two Artists had to say about Devotion....
Devotion is the result of following inspiration without restraint. You know, sometimes you just feel like going over the top, and that's what we did with Devotion. The imagery and colors are rich and dramatic, but just a bit worn. It's a pile of heirloom pillows. It's a vintage kimono. It's tea in the garden. It's the passionate heart of a woman in love.
