Great News!!! Creative Imaginations transitions to "Splash of Color"
To all of our valued Creative Imagination supporters!
With the significant changes in the paper crafting market over the
last several years, Creative Imaginations believes it is time to close its
doors after an amazing 25 years of doing business.
The closing of Creative Imaginations brings forth a BRAND NEW OPPORTUNITY for our employees and the addition of a new co-owner as we introduce our new company, SPLASH OF COLOR. Unlike Creative
Imaginations, which was often labeled as purely a scrapbook manufacturer,
SPLASH OF COLOR's goal is to support the rapidly growing mixed media market.
SPLASH OF COLOR will not abandon the paper crafting market, but our
efforts will be targeted specifically to "back to basics" paper
crafting products, targeted to the beginner, while simultaneously supporting the mixed media artist and crafters of all levels
and experiences.
Over the past few years we have seen "art creation" become a dedicated part of your life style, which is continually nurtured by visual stimulants offered through websites and social media platforms - You Tube, ETSY, Pinterest, Instagram, etc.
SPLASH OF COLOR is of the opinion
that this is the future of our industry, and will be well represented by
our LuminArte and VIVA Colour product collections. Think paints,
pigments, dimensional embellishments, tools and surfaces.
Mixed media is all about rich, natural colors, real dimensional textures
and diverse inspirations from the heart and soul. The touch and feel of a
mixed media project can encompass ALL our senses, bringing us back to our creative roots.
SPLASH OF COLOR will maintain CI's same excellence in art and design and our popular licensed Artists and products will continue to be part of our family!
Please look for us at the SPLASH OF COLOR booth at the Winter CHA show,
booth #2342 (Anaheim, January 2013). We will be launching a brand new state of the art website over the next couple of weeks! Look for our "sneak peeks" starting tomorrow!
Thank you for your support in the past and for your continued support as
we embark on our newest creative journey.

Guest Designer Barb King- Three Techniques
Today I would like to share 3 different techniques that can be done with LuminArte paints.
To make the ornament on this card, I used the Falling Snowflake Stencil with Blue Ice Radiant Rain. I wanted to make an ornament that resembled some of the hand blown glass decorations on my Christmas tree. I applied the Radiant Rain directly over the stencil and then sprayed on a layer of of Pearl Gold. I embossed a Lawn Fawn ornament stamp with gold on top of the stenciled area, and again on white paper. I cut out the colored ornament and just the center band from the white paper and layered them together. The white card front was spritzed with Egyptian Gold Shimmering Mist. After the tree branch and sentiment were stamped, I rounded the corners of the card. A gold thread was added to the front and pop dots were placed behind the ornament to give it dimension. Of course it needed a bow!
This card started with a piece of white Varnish Snowflake paper. The snowflake pattern was already embossed, so I applied a coat of Hot Cinnamon Radiant Rain to make the snowflakes really pop. A strip of patterned paper from the Holly Jolly Pad, and another piece with a scallop edge were layered over the snowflakes, and twine was wrapped around it. I stamped and painted the penguin in with some Twinkling H2O's, framed it with 2 colors of cardstock, and used pop dots to lift it up. A button and bow finished it off.
This beautiful bird image was painted directly with Twinkling H2O's. I stamped this twice, and painted one of the birds with several colors, letting them blend together. When it dried, I cut it out and layered it over the card front. The crown was covered with Glossy Accents to make it stand out. Don't you love birds wearing crowns? You can see a similiar Thanks You card over at my blog.
I really have enjoyed my week as guest designer here at Creative Imaginations. Thanks for all of your support!

Guest Designer Barb King- Owl I Want for Christmas
I'm back again with some fun owl themed Christmas cards. I love the Holiday Joy papers by Christine Aldolph, and I used the Joyful Stripe and Holiday House pieces to make this card. I cut out two owls and a section of the branch from the Joyful Stripe paper. I applied a light spray of Pearl Gold Radiant Rain to the branch piece, and inked the edges of the owls with Antique Linen Distress Ink. The card base was made with more of this patterned paper, and the sentiment was embossed with gold embossing powder to make it stand out. The owls have pop dots behind them to give them dimension, and some stickles on the pom poms on their hats. What a cute pair!
This next card was made with a Lawn Fawn Set called "Winter Owl".
I stamped the owl on white cardstock and painted it in with Autumn Butternut, Indian Copper, Olive Vine and Egyptian Gold Twinkling H2O's, and then cut it out. I find it much easier and faster to paint with my Twinks than to color an image with markers, and I love the shimmer that I get with the watercolors. I stamped the owl again on the polka dot paper, and just cut out the scarf. The front of the card was made with a piece from the Holly Jolly Paper Pad layered over a base of green cardstock. Before I added the white snow piece it was sprayed with Pearl Gold. The die cut tree branch is from Tim Holtz, and was spritzed with Egyptian Gold. A ribbon, a button and a sentiment from the Holly Jolly Die Cuts finished it off! Doesn't that owl look comfy in his warm scarf? I will be back soon with a few more projects.

Guest Designer Barb King ~ Happy Holidays Snowman
Barb King here, and I am so honored to be invited to be a guest designer on the Creative Imaginations Blog.
I’m a teacher, and I have always enjoyed creating paper craft projects with my students. Cardmaking became a passion of mine several years ago, and last January I started my blog, King Designs. I enjoy both teaching and taking cardmaking and mixed media classes, and it was at a card class that I first discovered Luminarte's Twinking H2O's. I loved their sparkle and how easy they were to use, and have used them extensively in my card designs ever since. I have had the pleasure of participating in inspiring classes taught by Marah Johnson and Cheryl Mezzetti using Luminarte and Creative Imaginations products. This week I will sharing some fun holiday projects with you.
I love this happy snowman stamp from Hero Arts. I stamped the image with Verasmark Ink and used white embossing powder to give the snowman definition and make it easier to paint around. The background was painted with both Majestic and Mediterranean Blue Twinkling H2O's, creating a watercolor wash effect. I went over the snowman's arms and eyes with Sharpie markers, and used a regular marker for the hat and sign.
I stamped the Hero Arts sentiment on a second piece of white cardstock, then applied some Distress Stickles Clear Rock Candy dry glitter over it to give it lots of sparkle. This was layered over the bottom section of the card. After I added the ribbon with the buckle, I attached it to the card base.
?I hope you can see the sparkle! I'll be back later this week. Enjoy!

Jules here with a fun idea for your holiday ATCs. With a few simple steps and some glittery 'snow', you can create a snow globe and pop your ATC!
These are not only great for ATC swaps and exchanges but also make fun package decorations or you can add a piece of ribbon and hang them from your holiday tree.
First, I selected one of the many lovely ATC cards by Creative Imaginations and placed a sticker from the IOD Rejoice collection in the lower right hand corner. I added more green with Luminarte's Twinkling H20s in Lucky Apple and more red to the bird with Luminarte's Twinkling H20s in Dreams Bloom.
Once these had dried, I took a pinch of artificial snow and added placed it loose in the middle of the sticker. I used a round, plastic piece of packaging and glued that over the center of the image. Once the round plastic piece had dried in place, I attached the trim and the piece of blue silk ribbon. Using the beautiful Viva Colour glitter pen, I outlined the sticker and edged parts of the ribbon, adding the phrasing last.
Voila, a sparkly, glittery snow globe ATC.

Good morning! This is Alicia and I am excited to share a pretty ATC card with you today. I really love the color combination of the Winter Song collection so I decided to play around with some ATC goodies.
I started with the IOD Loolah ATC cards and used some Luminarte Twinkling H20's (Kiwi and Vavoom) to paint the background with the glazes. I took a piece of lavender netting material and gave my card extra texture with it. I then added some of the Winter Song embellishments to decorate my card. The ATC came together so quickly and I really like how wintery it came out.

Hello Everyone! Hope your Holiday preparations are going well - the countdown is on! I took full advantage of the season to create a Holiday ATC. I combined a few collections to create my card. I started with a card and a frame from the Antique collection. I added foam tape to the frame to add dimension. I then added a sweet angel die cut shape from the Rejoice Die cut Shapes pack.
I added a transparency title form the Preposterous Transparency die cut shapes.
I then added a gold Petaloo flower from a rose leaf spray and some gorgeous gold shimmering twine.
For a final shimmery touch I painted the edge of the frame with Luminarte silks Acrylic Glaze in Emperor's Gold and splattered some paint on the card as well.

Nutcracker ATC by Shelley Hamilton
Shelley, here, with a double-sized nutcracker ATC!
I began with two white corregated ATCs that I glued together. I colored them with Persimmon Luminarte Radiant Rain Shimmering Mist first. Then, I used Luminarte Twinkling H20 in Lucky Apple and Sunflower over the Persimmon. I painted the Nutcracker stamp with the Persimmon, the Sunflower, and Sea Spray Twinkling H20.
The frame I painted with Twinkling 20s in these colors: Lucky Apple, Lemongrass, Sunflower, Spiced Pumpkin, and Poppy Red. I then added dots using Viva Colour Paper Pen in White.
I also painted several die cut pieces from the Rejoice Collection and from the Beautiful You Collection.
I cut out the NOEL from Greetings, a 12"x12" sheet from the Holly Jolly Collection, and painted it with the Sunflower Twinkling H20.
I finished off this ATC with some bling trim, glass beads, and glitter glue!
I hope you enjoyed seeing my little piece of art! Have a wonderful holiday season!

Hey scrappers! Donna here, sharing an ATC for December!! With Christmas soon upon us, I went with a festive ATC this month, created using pieces from the Antique ATC collection as well as a few Holly Jolly die cut shapes.
To begin the ATC, I first misted the Antique Frames with Spanish Moss and then lightly painted the "Noel" tag with Nutmeg color concentrate. Next, I adhered a few micro beads to the small piece of die cut holly and the "Noel" tag.
Once all of the above pieces were dry, I layered the black dotted ATC base over a piece of green ribbon and then adhered that over the Antique ATC die cut frame, I then adhered the Noel tag, using a smaller piece of die cut frame adhered to its left. To complete the ATC, I adhered the holly, a piece of rick rack, stapled the"Holiday Memories" die cut at the top and lastly added a button, and a bow!
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Holidays!!!

Good morning! This is Alicia! I'm excited to show you a Christmas page today which I completed in .... (drumroll please) .... 20 minutes! That's right! I timed myself on this page.
Let me give you a little tip about how you can create what looks like a very difficult page with lots of details - use a patterned paper background that has a frame and gorgeous details like this Dear Santa paper by Barb Tourtillotte. I literally used 1 piece of patterned paper and the rest is stickers. Easy...really! I matted my two 4X6 photos and placed them at the top of the page. I then used the Dear Santa sticker sheet and started designing, following the visual triangle concept, with the poinsettias. I chose a journaling block sticker and embellished it with the cute train and stockings.
I also used two strip stickers under my photos. I always use pop dots on pages like this so that the stickers don't just look like stickers and they "pop" off the page more. I love making pages come together this quickly and honestly, this was so easy! Have fun...and challenge yourself to use only one piece of patterned paper and the rest stickers. It really is a lot of fun! :)

Hey Scrappers, Donna here, and welcome to another session of "Mix it Up"! As I’ve been doing in the past, today I’ll again be mixing pieces of at least three (3) different Creative Imaginations’ product lines together and incorporating them into one fantastic page, with simple directions included!
For today's layout, I’ve mixed papers and stickers from the Family Matters, Art Warehouse and Kid Doodle paper lines as well as using a Brights 6 x 6 paper pad and a few "Paint It" word stickers.
I'm thinking you may have lots of turkey feast pictures to get on paper........so here we go! This is a fun one and you could easily adapt this layout to include even more paper designs or more pictures.
Using a piece of kraft cardstock as the layout base, begin by spritzing with mist and set aside to dry.
Next, cut a 1/2 “ strip from one of your patterned papers. Position it with a border sticker at the left edge of the layout. Adhere. Layer additional sticker(s) (here "real life" sticker Family Matters) over previous and adhere.
Crop photo using a circle punch. Next, die cut several circles and circle outlines from various pieces of the different patterned papers. These can be created with various circle punches as well. And, get those buttons out too, different sizes and colors will work.
Determine placement of photo (or photos), die cut circles, lace, buttons, and additional stickers at bottom half of layout and adhere. Make sure to do a bit of lunder/over placement with all. Stitch buttons.
Punch three (3) holes at bottom, left edge of layout. Run twills and/or ribbons through holes and knot.
Layout done and I hope to see you next month!
