One small child

One Small Child
One small hand to hold in yours
One small face to smile
One small kiss as he says "good night"
One small child
Catch the moment put it in your heart
The years too soon will bly
These are the precious moments
More than money can buy
Two small arms to hold you tight
Two small feet to run
Two small eyes full of love for you
One small son
Catch the moment put it in your heart
and never let it go
Save it for the years to come
When he too will know
One small hand to hold in his
One small face to smile
One small kiss and she say's "good night"
One small child.

Blessed
Original Author: Elton John
Blessed--
Hey you your a child in my head
You haven't walked yet
Your first words have yet to be said
But I swear you'll be blessed
I know your still just a dream
your eyes might be green
Or the bluest I've ever seen
Anyway you'll be blessed
And you, you'll be blessed
You'll have the best
I promise you that
I'll pick a star from the sky
Pull your name from a hat
I promise you that, promis you that,
You'l be Blessed.
I need you before I am too old
To have and to hold
To walk with you and watch you grow
And know that you're Blessed.

My baby boy and me
Original Author: Unknown
It's three AM, they're all asleep,
and no one's here to see.
As we rock slowly back and forth,
My baby boy and me.
His little hand is feather light.
Tucked up against my chin.
I hold his tiny hand in mine,
and stroke his baby skin.
The house about us creaks and groans,
The clock hands creep around.
He snuggles closer to me still,
And makes his baby sounds.
I love these quiet hours so much,
And cherish every one.
Store memories up inside my heart.
For lonely nights to come.
All too soon he'll be grown up,
His need for mama gone.
But until then I still have time for kisses
and for song.
Time for quiet hours like this with him cuddled in my arms, where I wish he'd always stay protected, safe and warm.
And yet I know the day will come when his tiny little hand,
will be bigger than my own.
He'll grow to be a man.
But until then he's mine to love
with no one here to see.
As we rock slowly back and forth,
My baby boy and me.

Walk a little slower daddy
Original Author: Unknown
"Walk a little slower daddy,"
said a child so small.
"I'm following in your footsteps
and I don't want to fall.
Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they're hard to see;
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For you are leading me.
Someday when I'm all grown up,
You're what I want to be;
Then I will have a little child
Who'll want to follow me.
And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true;
So, walk a little slower, Daddy,
For I must follow you.

When he's not four
Original Author: Irene Foster
Time if of the Essence
(Irene Foster)
Now is the time to get things done . . .
Wade in the water,
Sit in the sun,
Squish my toes in the mud by the door
Explore the world with a boy just four.
Now is the time to study books,
Flowers,
Snails,
How a cloud looks,
To ponder "up,"
Where God sleeps nights,
Why mosquitoes take such big bites.
Later there'll be time
To sew and clean
Paint the hall
That soft new green,
To make new drapes, refinish the floor,
Later on . . . when he's not just four.

Baby Tears
Original Author: Molly Newman
Baby Tears
My friends all said, "He'll grow so fast,
You'll hardly count the years."
But still I couldn't wait until
You grew out of baby tears.
I wanted you to take a step,
I wanted you to talk,
And learn to run and jump before
The others on the block.
And when you cried and ran to me,
I kissed you better, though
Part of my mind wished for the day
When I could call you grown.
"I'll finally get some housework done,
I'll have some time for me --
I'll have a long talk on the phone
And sip a cup of tea."
And sometimes I was cross with you,
And I said, "Act your age!"
But now those years have come and gone,
Marked only on this page.
I wish now I could turn back time
To your first smiles and tears,
And savor every moment
Of those precious baby years.
