Kit Smitten 11.27.2012

This week the Digital Creative Team is bringing back the Kit Smitten weekly feature. Each week we choose one of the newly released kits and show 2 or 3 examples of how we use the new product. It goes without saying, that we invite you to share any layouts you make with this kit in the comments section of the post. (we're all really good about leaving praise ).

This week we are smitten with Truman Studios and the just released Grateful Paper Pack.

The Digital Dingbat Challenge 11.24.2012

Designer Facebook Hop

I trust you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving (or for the Peas not living in the United States - a decent regular Thursday). I actually went out to brave the crowds last night for a while - after declaring two years ago that I would never do that again. So, this morning I am reaffirming for the world to see - I will never do that again!

That said, the store here at Two Peas is available to you from the comfort of you own home - and is 25% off every item through Monday! I plan to start gathering product for my own version of a December album - I think I am planning to have one that I can add on to each year and bring out to the coffee table for the holiday season every year moving forward.

Some of the digital designers here at Two Peas have put together a Facebook hop for you today through Monday as well - Here is a link to all of their FB pages - that way if you get lost along the way, you can always come back here.

And The Winner Is ...

I got up this morning ready to randomly "generate" our challenge winners, but then my "mom-ness" took over and thought I'd involve my 10 year old daughter. So here we've been this morning drawing numbers from a hat. I couldn't help thinking of drawing names/numbers out of hats as a kid, and it made me quite happy to be sharing that with her. But low tech couldn't help colliding with high tech when it became the stuff that Instagram is made of.

WITHOUT FURTHER ADO - YOUR CHALLENGES WINNERS ARE:

The Outstanding Orange Challenge: ShanB

It's a KnockOut Challenge: toomanycrayons

Journaling Challenge: ChinaGirl828

Template Challenge: Verstej

Word List Challenge: Debikins

Tag It Challenge: jmgesi

Reflection Challenge: Gleestormont

Congratulations to all winners - watch your Peamail later today for details on how to redeem your gift certificates.

Oh, and thanks for playing along with us - it was fun!

DSD Creative Team Challenge - It's a Knockout

Hi - It's Digital Scrapbooking Day (in case you hadn't noticed)! This is the sixth and final CT challenge for the weekend - like all of the other challenges posted you will have until Wednesday to post your submissions. And of course all submissions are eligible to win the $5 gift certificate from Two Peas in a Bucket.

My challenge was actually inspired by a forum thread I'd seen this week asking about the trendy look of "knock out" lettering - or silhouette style as it was called in the thread. This is that thread in case you were wondering about it.

So, I am going simple (and trendy as the case may be) and challenging you to knockout your title or even something else (shapes etc.). It results in a pretty fun layout. :)

For my page I used primarily the Reflection Collaboration freebie that our designers put together in celebration of today.

Remember when uploading your page for this challenge, click the appropriate challenge box. I can't wait to see what you all do with this challenge.

DSD CreativeTeam Challenge: Journaling

Hello there. Happy Digital Scrapbooking Day! Kimberly Kalil here and I’m so excited to share a fun little challenge with you.

One of my favorite parts of scrapbooking is journaling. Basically, I scrap so I can journal. I have a degree in journalism and have spent more than a 15 years working at newspaper. Writing is my thing! But every now and then, I get stuck and need a little help. When that happens, I often Google things like “journaling prompts” to kick start my creative process.

So if you haven’t figured it out yet, my challenge is a journaling one. Finish the sentence “I’m most thankful for … “
Once you have something in mind, create a scrapbook page based on your response. You can use the prompt as your title. Or, you can start each sentence with the prompt and repeat it throughout your journaling. Lots of times I repeat a single phrase, multiple times to build a meaningful journaling block. I often use phrases such as:

I want …
I need …
I hope …
I always want to remember …
I love you because …
I’m thankful for …

Repetition is such a fabulous and powerful writing tool and makes journaling that much easier. Next time you get stuck, try it.
For this challenge and the page I created, I used the overall theme of gratitude in my journaling, listing all the things I’m thankful for (I started each sentence with “I’m thankful for…). I included silly things, right alongside serious things, because that’s “real” and I want to tell the whole, real story of my life. When I got to the end, I named the one thing I’m most thankful for and used a photo that represented that particular blessing.

Here's the page I created:

Credits: Two Peas November Pea Soup Kits, Bebas font, Another Typewriter font, Blackout font

My journaling reads:

There are a lot of things I am thankful for this year. I'm thankful for a good job in a crappy economy. I'm thankful for two bright and extremely happy children. I'm thankful I’m able to indulge in large quantities of rocky road ice cream. I'm thankful for fun, memorable trips to lots of cool places. I’m thankful for a rock solid family. I’m thankful for a super hardworking and funny husband who tries hard to make my life better and easier. I'm thankful for jeggings, because they are just so plain comfy. I'm thankful for an army of friends who love and get me. I’m thankful for excellent insurance and great doctors. I'm thankful for a house manager who happily does laundry, cleans our messes and generally loves and takes care of us. I'm thankful to live close to grandparents who adore my kiddos. But this year, I'm most thankful for my health. Two tumors, one the size of a small orange, can make that happen. One, totally uncomplicated surgery only increased the amount of gratitude I felt. Said tumors being benign makes me more than thankful, it makes me the luckiest girl in the world. I am so very thankful. And I'll be feeling this way for a long time.

Now … ready, set, scrap. A $5 gift certificate to the Two Peas store is up for grabs for one lucky winner! Have fun and don't forget to check the challenge box to link your layout in the gallery to the challenge.

DSD Creative Team Challenge: Word List

Happy Digital Scrapbook Day! Jennifer here with a word list challenge for you!

Can you believe it’s already November? With the holidays coming up and fall in full color, I’m already preparing a list of things I need to do this month. Well, that sparked an idea for my challenge which is to use one of these words from this list on your project. These words were chosen in keeping with the theme of the Reflection Collaboration kit created by our 2peas Designers that you can get for FREE by following the DSD blog hop. Of course, you can also use any Two Peas digital products. :)

Word list:

Reflect  -  Gratitude  -  Embrace  -  Blessing  -  Connect  -  Change

And here’s a couple of projects I’ve created using words from the list:

credits: DSD Reflection Collaboration kit; Hero Arts Hearts With Attitude; Jen Martakis Cork Alphas; Adrienne Looman Mist Sprays

Submit your projects by November 7th for a chance to win a $5 gift certificate and don't forget to check the challenge box to link your layout in the gallery to the challenge.

Happy Scrappin'!

DSD Creative Team Challenge: Let's tag it!

I think tags are one of the most underrated, yet versatile, embellishments available. I was inspired by a recent Creating Keepsakes article on using tags, and was reminded that in digital scrapbooking, we can use tags with endless variations! (We are so lucky!)

So, this is Liz Jutila (the newest member of the 2Peas CT), and my challenge to you is that you must use at least one tag on a lo, BUT, you must make it your own! You can create your tag using the marquee or shape tool, or you can use an existing tag and write on it, embellish it, or use it as a mask. You are welcome to use multiple tags, of any shape.

Submit a lo by November 7, 2012 using at least one tag that you’ve customized to make your own, and you will be entered in a drawing to win a $5 2Peas gift cert! Woo hoo! Use whatever products you want (but, it would be kinda cool to see 2Peas products used). Be sure to check the challenge box when you load your lo!

In my sample I used three tags:  one tag was re-colored to match the lo, another tag was used to house text, and the last tag (my favorite) was used as a mask to turn the journal card into a tag!  Check out Baers Garten The Voices of Color: Orange kit, and Chrissy W.'s mixin-it-up-10 template, Dianne Rigdon Fastenation date, New Day tag and string, Jen Martakis Watercolors pp, and Edeline Marta Best of Friends heart for most of the supplies used on this page.

So what are you waiting for?  Tag it!

DSD 2012 Creative Team Challenge: Theme

Hi there fellow Peas! Hope you're enjoying the fun of Digital Scrapbooking Day! Suzanne here with a theme challenge for you. It's a simple one. Use the theme of REFLECTION in some way on your page. You can either use a photo with a reflection in it (like I have done) use the word in your title (yep I did that too using the word art in the freebie collaboration), use it as a basis for your journaling or create a reflection of your own of any element or word art for example.

2012 Digital Scrapbooking Day - The Blog Hop

We are so excited to get things rolling today ... because, we haven't done a blog hop around here for a pretty long time. And at the end we have a free DSD gift that our designers put together especially for you. The colors are so perfect for this time of year, they already have me thinking of scrapping some Thankful type pages this month. You're invited to hop through the blogs of several of our designers and some of the digital CT members too. There's sure to be some inspiration along the way for you to use when you start using this kit yourself.

We'd also love to invite you to drop by the digital forum and/or this blog throughout the day for challenges posted by some more of our digital creative team members - you can use this collaboration freebie for them (or not). You'll have through Wednesday November 7th to submit layouts for the challenges to be eligible to win a $5 gift certificate to the Two Peas store. There's one winner for every challenge! Another excuse to scrapbook this weekend!

Here's all you have to do:

Stop by each blog on the list below - you'll be on a scavenger hunt of sorts. At each stop you will pick up a letter. Keep track as you go along, because together they will make up a redemption coupon code that you can use in your Two Peas downloads. After you have collected all the letters come on back to Two Peas in a Bucket - and go to your downloads (located in the dropdown under your user name). Scroll to the bottom, where it says if you have a redemption code click here. You guessed it ... Click There. Enter the code and like magic your DSD collaborative kit will appear in your downloads - just like that you've scored the kit for FREE! Happy scrapping.

If you get lost along the way, you can always come back here to pick up where you left off.

As I said, there will be plenty of inspiration with this kit for you along the way - but in case you missed the "teasers" we shared on the Two Peas in a Bucket Facebook page this week, I thought I'd share them with you again here.
