Digital Challenge 12.22.2012 - Share Your Favorites

Hello Friends! Joscie, rhymes with bossy, here to share with you one of my favorite kinds of layouts. If you know me at all, you won't be surprised to hear that I like food, a lot.  I also am particular about my food and as a result, so are my kids. I love to hear about my friends' favorite foods and my family members too. I've documented our favorite donut choices in the past and this one is about our favorite Fro-Yo (frozen yogurt) toppings.

My husband is all about the massive amounts of fruity flavored yogurt while our oldest son PILES on the candies. Our youngest son chooses Death by Chocolate and Red Velvet Cake while I opt for Cheese Cake and Salted Caramel.
I've used new-to-Two-Peas Designer JustJaimee's November Story Teller's Collection to tell our food story. Won't you share your favorites, be they food (how you like your pizza, hamburger, sushi, whoknowswhat?) or books or shoes or ? I'd love to learn a little more about you!
Love Love,
Joscie, rhymes with Bossy

Kit Smitten 12.18.2012

Each week we choose one of the newly released kits and show 2 or 3 examples of how members of the Two Peas Digital Creative Team use the new product. As always, we'd love for you to share any projects you make with this kit too.

This week we are smitten with Edeline Marta's Christmas Cheer kit. This kit has so many wonderful elements and textures from nostalgic, to realistic, to trendy. I'm a little amazed at the variation of the three pages made for it this week. It is lovely and was super fun to scrap with.

The first page is by Jackie Doremus - this is the perfect page for these classic Christmas tradition photos. Every time I've looked at it, I've been reminded of Christmas peppermint candy & what could be better for this page.

Next is a beautiful page by Liz Jutila - what a lovely non-Christmas page, made with a Christmas kit. That is pure awesomeness!

And lastly is my layout with this beautiful kit by Edeline.

Thanks for stopping by - we'd love for you to link us to anything you make with this kit in the comments.

Documenting December - 12.17.2012

Hi everyone, its Tara again bringing you another look into my month long process about capturing those holiday memories.  Is anyone else in awe of Katherine’s Christmas Tree?  It’s amazing.

It’s December 17th, so where am I in documenting my December?  Well, I’ve made my lists and I’m checking them twice.

My bucket list and photo list help to remind me what I want to capture through the holidays.  I’m working on a new list as well, the stories to tell.  I’m a mom, a business owner, and a full time student.  Not to mention I create for 5 amazing groups of digital scrapping goodness.  I don’t have a lot of free time on my hands these days.  So I’ve started keeping a list of what I want to make it into my albums.  Is it just me or do you too get a great sense of accomplishment in crossing items off?

Beyond the lists, I have a habit of not scrapping in any particular order.  I like to go with what I want to when and how I want to tell it.  That’s ok because I left behind long ago that things have to go in order or be a certain way.  Scrapbooking is cool like that.  Digital Scrapbooking sort of freed me up a lot when I embraced it.

Here is my layout I made for my Project Life album about us getting our tree.  It happened in November, before December so I decided to go ahead and include it there.  I used one of Marcy’s printables for a journaling card to sum up our day picking out our 11’ tree – yup, 11 FOOT tree.  Of course this is a smaller than normal tree and well it’s a very long story about our need for large scale trees.  I’ve filled the pockets up with mostly photos and in this top pocket I added these little wood veneer trees.  I’m debating adding anything else to the pocket.  Once I know for sure I can run that pocket through my sewing machine to close it up.  In the past I have also gone ahead and popped this into my mini books because lets face it – everyday isn’t necessarily filled with amazing holiday magic.  That’s ok too because it’s a part of the holiday documenting.  I might still pop it in there anyhow, or maybe just whole punch the receipt and pop that in the beginning.

I love using the digital printables for projects like this, they offer me so much flexibility between using them on a digital page or printed in a hybrid approach.

I’ve also been working on my mini album.  Here is a looking into what I’ve put together so far, and of course these aren't the final pages I have lots to journal and tweak.

Here is a look at some of the images I’ve captured that have stories to tell.

In the end it’s about getting those details we want to remember down for us to remember for all time.  Honestly who’s going to remember why Jake’s looking through pretend binoculars when he’s 30?  I might, but chances are remembering him playing eye spy while looking for Steve our elf this one random moment in December might just slip through the cracks.  Now this story too can be more than a few words in a December mini book, it too deserves a layout of it’s own.  That’s ok too cause I’m sure I’d like to have it in his album as well.

Hope everyone is having a magical December!

Digital Challenge 12.15.2012 - A Childhood Holiday Memory

Hi, and welcome to another digital challenge here at Two Peas.

Watching my kids at Christmas time makes me nostalgic and takes me back to memories from when I was a child.  For this challenge, I want you to snag a childhood holiday memory and scrap it!  Is it a particular tradition that you had with your family? A unique gift you received one year? A moment that sticks out in your mind from all of the others?  Reflect back on your childhood holiday memories and share your story with us!

Kit Smitten 12.11.2012

Each week we choose one of the newly released kits and show 2 or 3 examples of how members of the Two Peas Digital Creative Team use the new product. As always, we'd love for you to share any projects you make with this kit too.

This week we are smitten with Michelle Underwood's new Holiday Mementos Collection. There is a full page kit, just the patterned papers, just the elements, a date kit, a pack of lightly distressed solids, and a quick page. It is lovely and was super fun to scrap with.

The first page from the Creative Team is by Laura O'Donnell. Laura often brings us wonderful hybrid card projects, and then once in a while she comes through with a breathtaking scrapbook layout ... reminding us how talented she really is.

Next up is a fun holiday page by Team Member, Kim Kalil. Isn't it amazing how versatile digital kits can be - it's almost hard to believe that two such stylistically different pages were made with the same kit. Wow.

And lastly is my version on the theme.

ETA: Adding another CT project after the fact by Jen Barksdale. She say, "I tried to create an embossed look with the font (all over the background paper) by misting over it and using the bevel & emboss feature in PS." I think it looks pretty marvelous.

ETA: Yet another amazing CT project with Michelle's beautiful kit. This one is by Mary Martinez (you may know her as Marnel) Her layering and shadowing on this is amazing.

Thanks for stopping by!

Digital Challenge 12.08.2012 - Stocking Inspiraton

Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s digital challenge.

I was browsing through cyberspace looking for Christmas decorations when I spotted these beautiful stockings (by Camille Roskelley on her blog:

I was drawn to the stitched shapes and patterns and knew I wanted to use this for the challenge. And so, the challenge is to create a project inspired by these stockings. What do you find appealing about them?

I’ve been making Christmas cards since last month, so it just seemed natural to make one for this challenge. I created a card with stitched stripes and patterned paper and then topped it off with a bow-tied candy cane and sentiment label.

Each entry gives you a chance to win a $5 store credit. Upload your project to the gallery and don’t forget to check the appropriate challenge box. We look forward to seeing what you come up with!

And last but not least, congrats to Lizziej (our 18th entry of the week) for being selected to receive a $5 account credit in your Two Peas account. You can use it on anything in the digital store ... enjoy your gift.

Kit Smitten 12.04.2012

This week we took a slightly different approach with kit smitten - and actually used three different mini kits from this months Pea Soup Collection. There is a beautiful mini by Dianne Rigdon Design, a paper pack by ChrissyW Digital, and an element pack also by ChrissyW Digital. It was fun to work with these coordinating kits and pick from any knowing they were made to coordinate (so we didn't have to think too hard)

Chrissy's Elements    Dianne's Mini Kit    Chrissy's Papers

The first page is by Tara McKernin - busy chica that she is. In case you missed it, she also wrote an amazing December Daily blog post yesterday, made a layout for today, and all of this while finishing up finals. Oh and ... It's her birthday today too!  Whew.

Team Member Jocelyn Olsen also used these kits to make a really cool hybrid card. If you are interested in hybrid she is one of several amazing designers we have on our team. #alwaysamazedbyhybrid

and this one is by me - Janelle

I'm going to tell you a little secret about this page (and lots of my pages for that matter) - when I am feeling uninspired I pull out an old layout that was saved with all the layers and use it as a layered template. Usually it gives me a kick start and I end up changing it so much that it is barely recognizable as having started out as the other page - but sometimes I just go with it and let them be similar (heck they won't be next to each other in my scrapbooks).  If you are interested in seeing the layout I switched up, it is ... right here. An oldie but a goodie.

And then I also used this week's kits for the first page of my December Daily album - I went with 6x6 size. I'm trying to keep this project SIMPLE, so that I might actually finish. Keep your fingers crossed for me, because this particular project type and I have had a rocky relationship in the past. :S

Documenting December - 12.3.2012

Hi Everyone its Tara from the 2Peas Digital Creative Team.  This month we are bringing you a weekly feature on December Memory Keeping.  I am working the the fabulous Katherine to bring you two different perspectives on how we are documenting our holidays.

Today I'm going to share with you how I plan my documentation strategies for December.  First let me tell you that I don't do anything but shop for supplies in advance.  Actually I shop year round for anything an everything Christmas and I'll be the first to admit I have a "small" problem. If you were to "ahem" look through my order history here at 2Peas you would probably see some Christmas product old or new in every order!

When it comes to December I tend to be more hybrid in my approach.  I love the easy of digital but love the lure of all the bits and pieces of life, especially those around the holidays.

This year I would like to think I'm on top of things and have my core pages done in advance but I just tend to stare at it all over and over and do nothing.  However, what I do in advance is this:

1. Make a bucket list of things we want to do over December

2. Make a photo list of the images I want to capture.

3. Gather my supplies.

4. Look at everyone's pretty already set up albums. (Be sure to check the galleries I saw a peak at Lisa's AKA Gluestickgirl on instagram and love it!

5. Print my printables.

6. Have a December Project file set up on my desktop with all my digital files and a place to store my processed images for this project.

So lets talk Project Life, I also do project life so not only do I want a mini album but I still need to do something for my big album.  Here's my thoughts on this.  I can include it all in my big album or not.  I feel like there are lots of stories that happen in our lives that I should have more than enough to spilt between the two.  My mini album I want to focus on the holiday's. the people, the traditions, the places, the food, the festivities.  Project Life is then free to capture our everyday life.  Besides the holiday magic, I am still a student in college, I still teach 27 Kindergarten children on placement twice a week,  I still commute, talk to friends, talk to my family, love my boys, attend parent teacher meetings and lets not forget the onslaught of DR appointments and prescriptions that seem to be running my life right now.  See, lots for both and not all about my children.

Also I don't print my photos at home, I have a lovely bunch of ladies at my local print shop that I trust my photos to.  It's just more cost effective but not as time efficient.  My printables I print on my trusty HP and I love using them!  There are so many to choose from here at the Digital Store.

The December 2012 Bucket List

1. Christmas Books Daily from December 1-24

2. Visiting Santa at our local tree farm

3. Elf on the Shelf (new in our house)

4. Driving Christmas Light Tour

Have a wonderful December.

Digital Callenge 12.01.2012 - Preparing for the Holidays

Hi there, Suzanne here with the challenge for this week.

As we’ve somehow managed to hit December (I know, like, how on earth did that happen so quick?!) I’m going with a holiday themed challenge.

I want you to document some part of your holiday preparation. Whether it be shopping, making cards, doing a photo shoot, baking, wrapping gifts, decorating the tree or whatever else, just let us have a peek in to how you get into the Christmas spirit.

My own page documents that for several years my kids have each had a new bauble for the tree, but that this has evolved over time from me buying them for their stockings to it becoming a shopping experience we share and enjoy together. As the years go by they will each have their own ornament collection ready to take along when they move into a home of their own.

Of course, it may be that you don’t celebrate Christmas, in which case just use any other holiday and show us how you prepare for that.

You can find my layout and other entries here in the gallery

Remember each entry gives you a chance to win this week's $5 credit in the store - but don't forget to check the appropriate challenge box when uploading your layout to the gallery.  Click on the layout title below for more details (and also to see other layouts that have been submitted to this challenge)

Congrats to Stef (Stefdesign) for being selected to receive a $5 account credit in your Two Peas account - which if you know anything about her is really funny.
