i-space with Erin Bassett

Hi everyone, it's my turn to share with you where I create.

My craft studio has evolved over time. When we first moved in I used a tiny 40" space and a coat closet...eventually my husband created a long workbench for me in another room and so that's where I work now.

This is the crafty portion of my workbench:

To the left of it I have a couple of Ikea Expedits stacked up for storage:

Here's a better shot of my flower and tulle storage that's on the back of that closet door:

I keep all of my i-rock supplies in this caddy...it's getting pretty full so I guess that means I need to create more stuff! ;)

Since my workbench is counter height I have room for my printers and die-cutting machines under it. It's not my favorite storage solution for them...but it's all I have space for right now.

And here's what's at the far left side of the workbench...my computer space:
I hope you enjoyed the peek into my space. I'd love to see yours...please leave me a link to your space in a comment below so I can check it out.

Wrap it up!

Hey there, Imaginistas! It's Robyn here today with some ideas for using all those wonderful Imaginisce supplies in a new way.

I've always loved wrapping gifts. When I was a kid, I'd work tirelessly to make sure my corners were creased and my bows were just right, and that's really never changed.

But gift wrapping has changed a lot. There are a lot more options than there used to be, and you don't necessarily need a big, loopy bow to give your package a finished look. While you can always go out and buy a fancy gift bag or box, why not take a look in your scrappy stash for some unique wrapping ideas?

Here's a gift I wrapped with plain, kraft wrapping paper (you can buy it by the roll, or recycle a grocery bag):

I used some scraps from the Happy Camper collection and punched 1/2" circles, arranged them in the "swags" across the front of the package and adhered with glue dots. I finished it off with a die-cut and some letter stickers. Fun, easy and sure to stand out from the rest of the gifts at the party.

Next up, a girlier take on wrapping. This time I used a small cardboard box, and I created a "ribbon" out of paper strips from the Little Cutie collection to go around the outside. I only adhered the bottom of the strips together so the recipient can slide the ribbon right off without having to tear it apart. (Are you one of those people who never wants to tear the paper and carefully removes the tap at the seams? I admit it...I'm one of THOSE.)

I added die-cuts on each outer panel of the box. And in place of a bow, I used a Pop-Up Posie (again...glued only to the paper ribbon so it all comes off in one piece).

See the center of the posie? It's an i-Top brad with a monogram "A" -- since this gift will be for my daughter, Avery. I punched the letter from the Baby Doll paper and turned it into an i-Top brad to top the posie with a personalized touch.

Looking for a unique way to give a gift card? I like to stash them in a pillowbox. I cut this one using a die from Lifestyle Crafts, but you can find plenty of templates for them online (Google: "pillowbox template").

I used papers from the Berrylicious collection, along with a punched circle and a Lacy Circle from Spellbinders. I created a matching i-Top brad to hold the loop of elastic cord around the box. (Be sure to put the brad in place before you glue the sides of the pillowbox together. I learned that lesson the hard way.)

These are just a few ideas to get you started on your gift wrapping frenzy. And because it's always better to GIVE than to receive (well, almost always), I'm hosting a GIVEAWAY on my blog for you today. Leave a comment here at the Imaginisce blog, then hop over and leave a comment on my blog, and I'll choose a winner to receive an Imaginisce prize pack, including papers, embellishments and a package of Roly Rosies!

Be sure to leave a comment in both places (I'll be checking!) to be eligible.

Wrap on, my friends.

i-Space with Cari Locken

Hi there! I’m excited to share my space with you today as I spend many, many hours here. It’s my happy, creative, time alone space (for the most part!)

It’s not overly large in any way but I’ve managed to find places for everything. Although regular purging sessions are still necessary as space is limited and I could never use up all that I’ve accumulated.

Here’s where I sit & create for hours.

My desk and the cupboard above and beside my desk are from Ikea. The cupboard store some business folders, class projects, all my computer disks/photos and Bazzill cardstock. The baskets above the cabinets hold my collection of mini albums, items to alter, cards that I’ve made, ribbon (that I don’t always use), acrylic blocks and stamping inks (that I use for classes).

The cabinet beside my desk holds my computer and photo paper, paints, stamping inks, ribbon boxes (yes I have quite a bit), tins of Maya Road chipboard & embellishments and Coluzzle templates.

(above: white storage boxes are from Ikea)

(I have found that storing my ribbon this way has helped me to use more of it because I can sift through the various colors so much easier).

The storage unit under my desk holds all of my punches. Each drawer holds different sizes.

The bookshelf behind my chair stores my magazines, my Cricut Expression and cartridges, my basket of adhesives (that I can just leave on my desk when working or swing around to reach an item when I need it), some tiny cats eye ink pads , baskets hold product for various manufacturers that I’m on, flowers on the top shelf and some little projects I’ve made that I display.

My white Rubbermaid storage containers:

1n one complete set stores a lot of my Imaginisce product (chipboard, stickers, rub-ons, ribbons, stamps, imaginisce tools & accessories, flowers. The bottom 2 drawers hold some American Crafts Thickers and all my plastic bags that I use for teaching.

Another set holds a bunch of my Canadian Scrapbooker supplies.

The last continaer stores my sewing stuff, more stamps and glues, glitter powders & embroidery floss.

Above these units I have a basket that holds all of my mists & sprays and some mini albums that I’ve made.

The other white storage unit that I have in my room is where I store all of my Core’dinations cardstock (on the bottom shelves).

In the drawers I’ve put metals embellishments, brads, ribbon (that I use for teaching), stamps (myStampBox) and chipboard alphas.

And the messy area is my closet (so I’m glad I have doors to close it off) is where I store all of my patterned papers.

In the wide white boxes are my Cuttlebug embossing folders and Spellbinders dies, some fabric & felts, older chipboard alphas & embellishments. And as you can see some other things get stored in there as well.

So there you have it. Thanks for taking a peek into my creative space.

I'd love it if you would take a moment to stop by my blog (as I've done a bit of housekeeping over there the last week) and have a little give-away in honor of my scrappy space! So please leave a comment here on this blog post and over at my blog and I'll enter your name is a draw for a chance to win some goodies!

Cari ;)

The man card!

Why is it that we always struggle with making cards for men? It's so easy to find a pretty quote, add a ribbon and a few flowers and we have a lovely card for women. But men don't really appreciate 'pretty' cards so we have to start thinking outside the box and sometimes it's easier said than done.

Our design team have busied themselves this week creating a pile of cards with barely a flower in sight and we think you are going to love the inspiration they have amassed with this wonderful collection of man cards, especially with Father's day only days away!

And if you look closely you'll be able to see a few little extra treats on display with the addition of Echo Park Dots and Stripes paper packs and Spellbinders dies and impressabilities. Our team were in good hands!

Are you up to the challenge?
Well here's what we want you to do:
1. Comment on today's post
2. Comment on yesterday's post for Father's Day Gifts
3. Spread the word
Hmmm, so what are we giving away?
Should we tell you or should it be a surprise?
Hmmm
Alright we'll tell...
We're going to give away

A gift for Dad!

Image via Pinterest

Fatherhood is pretending the present
you love most is soap-on-a-rope.
~Bill Cosby

With Father's day approaching our design team set to task creating some wonderful gifts for the man about the house and to prove that soap-on-a-rope really doesn't have to be the only special gift for dad this Father's Day.

Father's Day mini album by Cari Locken
Design team member Cari Locken created this wonderful mini album for her children to give to their father on father's days and it holds many precious treasures with photographs and hand-drawn artwork.

Cari used a combination of Imaginisce Apple Cider papers and rub-ons with Spellbinders Lacey Circles and Grommet Tags nestabilities.

Just look at those two precious little faces who are lovingly placed inside this wonderful 'Dad' frame created by design team member Sophia Allison. And what do you think might be lurking inside the shirt and tie goodie bag? Well it's brimming with sweet treats for a very special daddy!

Dad frame and Shirt sweets bag by Sophia Allison

Well the tag says it all 'best DAD'!

Design team member Michelle Unruh needed a special box to hide the Father's Day gift for her children to give to their father. So, she created this wonderful keep-sake box complete with removable 'best Dad' award tag that can be proudly warn by the lucky recipient on his special day.

Best Dad Gift Box by Michelle Unruh
Michelle used Imaginisce Happy Camper paper her i-rock and the square glam rocks, i-bond, and i-top badge plus the Spellbinders (scallop circles) and Echo Park (Dots and Stripes).

Removable award bad for the best Dad!

Okay, we know you are going to be gobsmacked by this next project because we all felt the same when we first saw DT member Keely Yowler's amazing Cigar Box completely transformed into an enchanted camping wonderland for her outdoorsy hubby.

Camping treasure box by Keely Yowler
Keely used the Imaginisce "Happy Camper" collection and her Cricut cartridge "Campin Critters". We are just loving that super cute little tent and the very unscary bear.

Well we hope we've given you some inspiration to get creative for the man-about-the house this Father's Day. What could be more perfect than a wonderful hand-made gift with love!
Don't forget to stop by tomorrow as our design team have some Father's Day cards to share!

Creating Stamped Scenes with Snag 'Em Stamps

Hi, it's Keely here and today I'm going to share a fun way to use your Snag 'em stamps to create a layered picture. I'm a big fan of framed art pieces to decorate my home and one of my favorite projects is to create cute little scenes by combining my favorite stamps. Imaginisce Snag 'Em stamps are just perfect and for this project I used Snag 'Em stamps from the "Berrylicious" collection and "Happy Camper" collection.

First, decide what stamps you will be working with and stamp each image.

Next, cut out your images with a craft knife. These will be used as masks to cover stamped images on your project.

To plan your project, I like to use the stamped transparencies that come with each stamp set. These clear stamped images are great to stack and arrange on your paper to decide where you want your stamps placed. At this point, notice which stamps you want in the front of your design and which will be in the background. This will determine which order you will stamp the images.

When I have decided on a design for my project, I place the transparencies to the side of my project, so I can copy the design. As you can see in this photo, the lemon and cherries are in front of the carton image. You will start stamping the images in the front and then cover these images with the masks you created in the beginning to stamp the images behind. Clear? :)

For example, I have already stamped the sun image. I want part of the bee image behind the sun, so I am covering the stamped sun with the mask and then stamping the bee. When I remove the mask, I will have the bee image next to the sun. I have shielded the sun image from any of those dotted "fly" lines that are stamped on the mask.

Continue to layer those stamped images until you have created your project. I added a dimenional foam dot to the little birdie in the middle. Next, I added Imaginisce patterned paper (Berrylicious and Little Cutie collections), Imaginisce chipboard (Berrylicious collection), Bazzill cardstock, Copic markers, and matted on brown/white polka-dot paper by Echo Park.

You could also try layering similar images, such as trees to create a forest or apples with the saying, "Thanks a bunch". The possibilities are endless. So that's it for today's post - I hope you enjoyed learning a little about layering stamped images and I can't wait to see what you create.

i-spy and weekly winners!

We are at the end of the week again although for some it's the start of a new week depending on whether you call Sunday the last day of the week or the first day of a new week. Personally I like to think it's the 7th day, a day of rest and a day to spy some wonderful creations from our invaluable followers, yes that's you!
So who did we spy this week?

Just look at this fun and festive nine year old's birthday layout from Sharon in Australia. Sharon has used the Birthday Bash collection to create this wonderful layout and we think it was definitely worthy of joining our hall of fame.

Our next project has the cutest pic we think we've ever seen. Just look at this little poppet in the bowl of fruit, awww! This layout was created using the Berrylicious collection and we think it's very fitting for this amazing photo.

Another fun layout using Berrylicious and we just loved the bubblewrap paintwork going on in the background of this layout.

Join us at CK Scrap and Play - June 17 and 18

So they had me at "free spa services"...but there are so many more reasons to attend CK Scrap & Play next weekend with our Imaginisce team.

1. It's a great value...even the hotel rooms are priced right and it's tucked away in the beautiful Midway valley (which is gorgeous).

2. The staff and teachers ROCK! And a great treat, Lori Allred has agreed to come back and teach and she's loaded up her supply boxes with giveaways and a great class featuring Berrylicious. Lori will even be staying for the whole event so you'll have access to her and her team and even our tools!

3. They have a "candy bar"...need I say more?

4. Lots of scrapping space and they lock up the room at night so you can leave your supplies for the next day.

So gather up a few of your friends, book a room and run away with us on the 17th. You can't tell me you don't need a "summer break" too, right?!

i-Space, a little look into Kim's space

Hi everyone!  It's my turn to share with you my creative space!  First a little background for you.  About 3 years ago, we did a remodel and added on a rec room to the front of our home.  We live in a rambler style home with everything on one level.  When the architect was here for our first meeting, he explained that it would require a new roof line, and that we could possibly add an attic space for no extra work.  We talked about storage and having one of those pull down staircases for access.  I was thrilled to finally have some additional storage in my home and was very excited to see the plans.

You can imagine my surprise when 2 weeks later, he returned with plans that included at 15x12 open loft space!  My husband had called him and inquired about the possibility of using that attic space as an open art loft!  (I just love that guy!) So my daughter and I now have an art loft complete with fabulous lighting thanks to some sweet skylights! It overlooks that dining room and is completely open to the rest of the house.  I still feel part of the goings on when I'm up their creating!

It didn't take long to create a very full and cluttered room --- I'm not sure where I was keeping all this stuff before!  I thought about completely cleaning it up and making it all pretty before I took the pictures, but opted for the real thing!  This is where I create surrounded by my own little bit of controlled chaos.  Still looking for more storage space!  So here you go, a little tour of my creative space:

As you walk up the stairs from the dining room - my husband and puppy dog join me up here often, hence the need for the sofa and pillows:

This wall contains an art desk which is stand up height - a hook wall for all my embellishments, containers for my paper sorted by color, an old suitcase full of empherma, a wall unit for all my pens, stamps, ink, scissors, etc, a shelf for my old cameras, hanging packets full of misc tags & such, and an old wine rack for my vinyl:

More clutter including a shelf that holds my buttons, cards, and punches and a dry erase board where my kiddos leave me love notes:

Well, there you have it!  It is my favorite spot in the house and I am forever grateful for that little surprise!
Happy Scrappin!

May Challenge Winner!

Every month we recieve so many wonderful entries into our challenges and the design team always have such a hard time choosing just one single entry to take home the i-top package. However, this month we had a stand-out in the crowd that wowed us all and let me tell you, this project even had working lights! So we thought it was only fitting to share this amazing project as we congratulate our May winner:

Michelle created a little frame of a car with our cute Animal Cracker Koala behind the wheel and a fun picture of her son Isiah, although we were a bit worried at first that perhaps Isiah should have had his seat-belt on.

Now Michelle is certainly the envy of quite a few scrappers out there because she has a husband that actually 'gets' her craft and even helps out. Oh to be so lucky! Here is Michelle's husband Kevin working diligently on making the little car headlights work - for real!

Isn't it just amazing? Well we thought so and that's why Michelle is the well deserved winner of the May challenge. Congratulations Michelle, and could you please send us an email with your address details to: donlambson@imaginisce.com and put 'May challenge winner' in the subject line.

Don't forget we have a new monthly challenge which you can view HERE

Oh I am so excited!! I can actually participate since I now have purchased a few sheets of your paper! It is so hard to find your stuff out here where I live, and I have this weird thing about seeing it in person before I buy it, but I gave in and ordered some new paper (from the Berrylicious line), and I am sure that I can incorporate this in the challenge!! Super excited!!cherie.goyer at gmail.comhttp://oneheartscrapper.blogspot.com

The first installment of I-space

Hey there everyone, It's Lydia and today I am excited to share with you my space, lovingly referred to as the nook. My space is quite small, it is actually a 8x6 ft corner of my living room. Since it is right in the center of my house it has to stay pretty tidy, so it actually does look like this after each project. During the flurry of creation it gets messy but for now let me take you on the tidy tour.
These beautiful desks are custom cherry desks that my loving husband built for me. They are the heart of my operation, everything else has been found at office supply stores and dollar stores.

On top of one desk is this inexpensive desk organiser that I altered to house all of the tools I reach for most often.

Then the three drawers on the side hold my punches and have a little garage for my sewing machine.

The center drawer is one of my faves, it holds all my ribbons, threads and buttons.

Up top on my shelves I have 8 of these marvelous plastic containers. I purchased them on sale years ago and they help keep all my other embellishments organised. My cardstock is kept right on my desktop for easy access, color reference and inspiration.

This is my bigger stuff drawer, I keep my thickers in the file folder, and the other containers at the back are for organising all my paper scraps.

Directly below that drawer is my pattern paper storage, they are in extra large file folders and are organised by manufacturer.

Well that is basically it folks, Now that you have seen my space at home, please pop over and check my space online. It will be a blog warming so to speak and what would a warming be without gifts, come by, follow and leave a comment for a chance to win a fantastic prize just from me.
Thanks for stopping by.
