A Very Fond Farewell

Hi everyone!  As we enjoy the last few days of August and welcome our new 2010 - 2011 Design Team in September we must first bid a very fond farewell to our current design team members.  These gals were the very first members of the Pebbles design team and inspired us daily with their creativity and skillful use of Pebbles products.  I have loved getting to know each and every one of these talented ladies and want to thank you all for your hard work and commitment to this team.

It thought it would be fun to highlight a project from each departing design team member created this past year.  Please join me in thanking this amazing group of ladies for their inspiration.  You gals are the best!

More Summer Projects with Suzanne and Mimi

Design team member Suzanne Sergi took this opportunity to document one of the highlights of her family's summer - meeting American Idol Aaron Kelley.  Here's what Suzanne had to say ... "One of our summer highlights was meeting American Idol Aaron Kelley! After a trip to Legoland, we stopped at the restaurant, Outback Steakhouse. After being seated, we realized that Aaron Kelley was seated across from our table.  My daughter, and her friend could not stop giggling or screaming.  One of my friends went to his table and politely asked if he would not mind stepping outside for a couple of snapshots.  He was very gracious, and more than happy to pose with our girls.  We did not take any trips this summer; however, this moment was a memory of a lifetime for my sweet daughter.  What better way to document this moment, but with Tree House's bold color palette?"

We spent a lot of time at the shore this year and the boys loved "trying" to perfect the skimboard ... lots of ups and downs working on that, lol!  I shot continuous action shots of them practicing and it made for a great series of photos that really show them "working."  I will tell you, after trying it once and landing very ungracefully I am so glad I could stay behind the camera and watch them ... oh my aching back!"

Sketchy Thursday

It's Thursday which means we have another beautiful sketch to share with you today created by none other than our fabulous design team member Liz Qualman.

Liz not only created the sketch this week but played along as well and created this adorable card using the Twitterpated collection.  It just goes to show you that it's easy to convert a layout sketch into a card and vice versa.  Give it a try and you'll be amazed at how you can stretch your sketches!  Here's what Liz had to say ... "Have you ever used a layout sketch to make a card?  If you like to create square cards like I do, they can be the best inspiration.  All you need to do is think of other elements to go where the photos would.  On this card, I added an extra piece of patterned paper where the photos would have been and cut back just a tad on the flowers to keep it simple.  The Twitterpated papers make a really fun palette for Valentine cards or just to say 'I love you'."

Pebbles supplies used:
Twitterpated 3x3 Cards (751000)
Twitterpated Crush (751003)

Whip It Up Wednesday

Happy Wednesday everyone! Is the week halfway over already? The days are flying by and if you're short on time (like I am) then you'll love today's post. I challenged some of our design team members to whip up up a project in 30 minutes or less.

Design team member Sophia Allison created this beautiful layout in no time at all. Here's what Sophia had to say ... "I gave my photos a distressed look by using {Picnik}. I then added 2 pieces of different patterned papers to the background and added a piece of edging which I put through my decorative border edge punch. I added some pleated ribbon to the bottom border with a chipboard embellishment in the left hand corner. I added the same chipboard to the top right hand corner, added some candy dots to the flower centers on the patterned paper for dimension. This layout literally took me 15 minutes to put together."

Pebbles supplies used:
Twitterpated 3x3 Cards (751000)
Twitterpated Chips (744112)
Twitterpated Stackers (740000)
May Bouquet Flower Bed (751022)
May Bouquet Patio (751021)
Charming Glitter ABC Stickers (732000)
Baby Pink Candy Dots (744205)
White Ribbon (744028)

Other supplies used:
Cardstock

Design team member Lisa Warren put this adorable layout together in a jiffy.  Here's what Lisa had to say ... "To create my layout in a flash, I have used standard sized 4x6 photos saving me time in cropping them down. First, tear the top and bottom off a coordinating sheet of patterned paper and attach to centre of base paper. Add photos across your layout, varying the heights to add interest. Next, punch out a strip of patterned paper, trim to 4" in length, and add above and below photos. Trim a word strip of paper to 4" lengths too and add on top of the punched borders. Doodle a quick border around your layout and add your title. I've added Candy Dots to the title to further define it. Layer three flowers together and fix together with a brad, then add to your layout with leaves. Finish off your layout with some twine tied in a bow and add some fun words in the opposite corner. Done. The format of this layout would work turned on its side for landscape photos, or you could extend it to create a double page layout."

How To Tuesday

For today's edition of "How To Tuesday" design team member Ginnifer Maloney shows us how to make decorative pins using Pebbles chips.  Here's what Ginnifer had to say ... "Pebbles Chips come with so many shapes, size, and colors in the package the possibilities for projects are endless.  Smaller sizes within the packages are perfect for making your own decorative pins that can be used in scrapbooking and card making."

All you will need is some decorative pins, or hat pins, or pins used for sewing.  You will be cutting off the tip with the decoration or ball on it for each pin you make.  They are easily cut off with wire cutters, or if you don't have wire cutters nail clippers will work too!

After you have your pins ready, choose your desired chip pieces and separate the chip layers so you will be able to slide the pin between those layers.

Add some liquid glue inside the layers and add your pin, then close the layers back up over the pin.  Hold it shut for a few seconds or more, depending on the glue brand you used, and your end result should look like these:

You can get creative and add some crackle medium gloss over the chip and you will get a look like this:

My favorite way to add to the pins is to use Glossy Accents over top and stick in a Candy Dot for flower centers and get results like this:

Once your pins are dry use them to decorate your scrapbook layouts or cards!  They're very addicting and a lot of fun to make!
