Mix & Match Monday

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend.  I have actually prescheduled today's post since I am still in Los Angeles, CA for CHA.  I fly home today and will be announcing the winners of our new collection giveaways on Wednesday.  In the meantime, today on the Pebbles blog we'll be mixing and matching some Pebbles products to show you just how well our collections can be used with one another.

Design team member Kim Kesti created this adorable layout by choosing products with the same color palette from different collections.  Here's what Kim had to say ... "I love the freedom that Pebbles gives me by coordinating the colors from many different lines. For this layout I used patterned paper from New Arrival Girl, patterned paper from Cats & Dogs, and stickers from Twitterpated. It all came together so easily. I even used that cute little daisy from the Spool Ribbon - see it up there on my tag? It's like a little free bonus. Love that."

Pebbles supplies used:
New Arrival Girl Daddy’s Girl (751053)
New Arrival Girl Chips (74115)
New Arrival Girl Journaling Stickers (732028)
Cats and Dogs Bow Wow (751043)
Twitterpated Journaling Stickers (732003)
Twitterpated Word Stickers (732002)
Twitterpated Duplicate Stickers (761001)
Baby Pink Spool Ribbon (44031)
Green Glitter Candy Dots (744215)

Other supplies used:
Cardstock (American Crafts)
Kraft tag (American Tag)

Design team member Kristen Swain mixed things up to create this gorgeous layout of her sweet girl.  Here's what Kristen had to say ... "Sometimes it can be hard to get a cohesive feel when you mix different lines together. My trick is to use smaller patterns and try to stick to the colors of the bold pattern. For my layout, I brought in the red and browns from the Tree House collection to coordinate with the bold pattern in the Cats & Dogs Catnip paper. I also was able to take some blue items from the New Arrival collection and add them in, since there is so much blue in the papers. Keeping with the same manufacturer also helps to coordinate colors, some manufacturers like Pebbles use similar colors in their collections, making it easier to mix and match."

Design team member Anna Sigga created this adorable timeline style layout to document her daughter's growth over the last three years.  Here's what Anna had to say ... "When I got the assignment to make a 2-pager I knew I had to step outside of my comfort zone. I am so not a 2-page scrapbooker and it takes me a LONG time to finish one, but I was up for a challenge. I decided to use photos from my older daughters birthdays (she is 3 years old) and document how much she has grown since her first birthday. More Double Layouts with Laura, Stephanie, and Suzanne

Design team member Laura Vegas created this double page layout to document her girls' love of playing games.  Here's what Laura had to say ... "I love doing two page layouts more and more these days. It's always nice to get a lot of photos onto a layout at once. I have a lot of random photos of my girls playing the Wii and their Nintendo game systems, from over a wide range of dates. It was fun to pull these photos from all different months, and work them onto one two page layout. I started with 4x6 photos, and just trimmed them down a little here and there, until they all fit together across the two pages. I choose my papers by playing off the main colors in the photos. Browns, greens, and pinks. And then mixed in some yellows just for fun."

Design team member Stephanie Baxter created this adorable two page layout about her friend's daughters.  Here's what Stephanie had to say ... "“I’m so excited about this week’s theme because I’ve very recently started to get into making double-page layouts after having two-page layout phobia for so long! I love the fact that doing a double-page spread allows you to show off SO MANY photos that you might not ordinarily be able to fit on one page. And it also gives you the space to fit lots of different Pebbles papers on your layout, like I’ve done here. The patterns and colours of the papers I chose fit so well with these photos of my friend’s three beautiful girls, so I was glad to have enough space on the layout to showcase them side-by-side. I made sure to use some of the same paper on the left page and to have some elements that span both pages to give the whole layout a unified feel, rather than it seeming like two separate pages. I’ll definitely be doing more double-pagers in the future!”

Design team member Suzanne Sergi celebrates the arrival of a new puppy on this adorable double page layout.  Here's what Suzanne had to say ... "We recently bought my oldest daughter a dog for Christmas. We have missed having a dog, since our Lucy two years ago. It has been such a pleasure to have this sweet little friend. My youngest daughter, Macie, has fallen head over heals for Sammie. She cannot put him down, and he seems to enjoy it, by following her around. I was so excited to be able to document this sweet snapshots. The Cats & Dogs collection is absolutely perfect for documenting your pets. The colors are bold, and the embellishments are whimsical! Theme: Make Mine A Double

Happy Monday everyone!  This week on the Pebbles blog will have you seeing double - double layouts that is!  I've challenged some of our design team members to create a double page layout using their favorite Pebbles supplies.

First up, I (Lynn Ghahary) created this fun, patriotic layout with lots of photos from our local Freedom Festival this past July.  Even though Pebbles does not have a 4th of July collection I was able to recreate the red, white, blue (and yellow) look that I wanted by picking and choosing papers and embellishments from several different Pebbles collections. And the dimensional star stickers from the New Arrival Boy collection provide the perfect patriotic embellishment for my layout.

Pebbles supplies used:
Cats & Dogs Sassy Cat (751049)
Cats & Dogs Bow Wow (751043)
New Arrival Boy Special Deliver (751066)
New Arrival Boy Congrats (751074)
New Arrival Boy Icon Dimensional Stickers (732032)
New Arrival Boy Buttons (747005)
Tree House Epoxy Brads (744231)
May Bouquet Bloom (751017)
May Bouquet Freshly Picked (751013)
Yellow Glitter Candy Dots (744221)
White Glitter Candy Dots (744222)
Red Ribbon (744029)

Other supplies used:
Cardstock (American Crafts)
Stickers (Doodlebug Design)
Pen (Uniball Signo)
Punches (EK Success, Martha Stewart)
Die Cut Machine (Sizzix Big Shot)
Dies (Spellbinders)

Next up, design team member Ria Mojica created this soft and sweet double page layout to document her daughter's First Communion Day.  Here's what Ria had to say ... "The New Arrival Girl line was the perfect complement to my daughter's 1st Holy Communion photos. My fave part of this layout is the "Host with Cross" I made using the fire hydrant stencil from the Dogs collection - I masked a portion of it so it looks more like a cross. New to using chalks? Here's a tip: Dipping the pompom in some water before applying the chalk slightly darkens it, gives it a watercolor effect and makes the chalk adhere to the paper better."

Pebbles supplies used:
New Arrival Girl 3x3 Cards (751052)
New Arrival Girl She's Here (751055)
New Arrival Girl Little One (751057)

New Arrival Girl 4x9 Rub Ons (735003)
Charming ABC Stickers (732001)

Other supplies used:
Cardstock (American Crafts)
Rub Ons (American Crafts)
Pen (American Crafts)
Ink (Clearsnap)
Mist (Tattered Angels)
Punch (Fiskars)
Die Cut Machine (Making Memories)

Design team member Sarah Webb was really up for the challenge considering this is her first double page layout.  I'd say she did a fabulous job!  Here's what Sarah had to say ... "This was my first double. I knew that I wanted to have a sky blue background and the green grass, but added the yellow and the brown (Tree House) after the page was set up. I find myself using bits of the Tree House Sunset paper over and over again. I just can't get enough of those clouds!"

Free For All Friday

Hey everyone!  We are wrapping up the week with a few "free for all" projects from some of our design team members.  But before we do I have a winner to announce from this week's giveaway.  Again thank you for your comments.  I read each and every one of them and loved reading about all of your "how to" ideas.  And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information as well as your choice of Pebbles collection to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "How To Winner" in the subject line.

Design team member Anna Sigga created this precious layout about a special gift for her daughter.  Here's what Anna had to say ... "My lil girl got a precious little ring from my parents when she was Christened and of course it was a bit too big for her tiny fingers. Last November I decided to see if it would be the perfect fit and voila - it was just perfect. So of course I had to get my camera and snap a photo of this cute ring on her tiny finger. I decided to use pinks, cream and greens to match my daughters clothes and it is just the perfect color combo for lil girls. Even though these colors can all be found in the Twitterpated line I decided to add bits from the Tree House and New Arrival Girl collections. I just love how easy the Pebbles collections are to mix."

Design team member Suzanne Sergi always wows me with her home decor pieces and this one is no exception.  Here's what Suzanne had to say ... "One of my favorite items to create are Home Decor projects. I  purchased this photo tray, about three months ago. With Valentine's Day around the corner, I wanted to create a special decor project for this holiday. I used the Twitterpated Collection to alter this tray. This line is perhaps one of my favorite collections. I have used this paper line many times. it has the perfect mix of Valentine Colors, and I love the whimsical artwork. The colors are simply happy, and I wanted to capture this in my project! I created each panel individually, and added three individual snapshots of my children. I also added a little touch of fabric, by pulling in some felt, twill fabric, and Pebbles fabulous ribbon. I love adding special details to my projects, so I included some tiny spools, a doily, a cookie cutter, and some stamping with American Crafts Stamps. I created this project to simply remind my children how much they mean to me. (This photo tray may just find a permanent home, after "Heart" Day!)"

Sketchy Thursday

For today's edition of "Sketchy Thursday" I asked some of our design team members to create a project based on this fabulous sketch by Becky Fleck.

Design team member Ria Mojica created this stunning layout of her son.  Here's what Ria had to say ... "I love the embossed papers from the New Arrival lines -- very subtle but creates major impact. When I saw this photo of my son, I knew I had to use the New Arrival boy line as the colors were a perfect match. The green paper from the Tree House line rounds it all up to create a totally new color scheme - as if we needed more proof of the versatility of Pebbles collections and how easy they are to mix and match. I practically followed the sketch to the letter but added a journaling spot in the bottom right. For my title, I used took the word "proud" from the "Proud Parents" in the sticker sheet and I added the chipboard bird to the "it's a boy" chipboard to conceal the words I didn't need."

Pebbles supplies used:

Design team member Ginger Williams used the sketch on this perfectly adorable layout of her two boys.  Here's what Ginger had to say ... "I loved this sketch from the first moment I saw it! I knew it would be perfect for this goofy photo of my two oldest having fun with these fake mustaches! The very versatile Cats & Dogs line had perfect colors to go with the photo, and thanks to the awesome "B" sides of the papers, I easily created a non-pets themed layout!

Whip It Up Wednesday

For today's post I challenged some of our design team members to "whip up" a project using Pebbles products in 30 minutes or less. Check out these fabulous projects that can be created in no time at all!

Design team member Savitri Wilder created this adorable gift for a her daughter's friend in no time at all.  Here's what Savitri had to say ... "When my little girl is invited to a party, a birthday usually, I like to make a little something besides a handmade card and a store bought present or a bigger handmade gift. For this particular little girl I decided to make her a little name sign to hang on her bedroom door or wherever. The 4'x4" project took me less than 30 minutes to do. The only big thing I had to do was cut the paper and carton to size and then adhere them together carefully. Pebbles Inc has all the other goodies to make this little gift fun!"

"”I am a slowwww scrapper.  I can have a layout on my desk for more than 2 days.  So just to prove it can be done in 30 minutes, I was timed by hubby! LOL So I created this layout with the New Arrival Boy collection.  Lots of layers in this layout - I used lots of punches, circles and some border punches they give a great effect and fast.  Love these papers they are so versatile and don’t have to just be used for baby boys!"

How To Tuesday plus a GIVEAWAY!

First things first, I have a winner to announce from last week's "Inspired By" giveaway.  Thank you all so much for your comments.  I'm so happy that many of you listed the Pebbles blog as one of your sources for inspiration!  And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information as well as your choice of Pebbles collection to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Inspired By Winner" in the subject line.

Today's "How To" post is brought to you by the very talented Christa Paustenbaugh.  Here's what Christa had to say ... "If you're like me, you love all the handy containers that many scrapbooking supplies come in.  And many times those containers can be re-purposed for other uses instead of throwing them away.  I'm all about using stash instead of running out to buy even more items for our house!  I chose to use a chipboard container and turn it into a pencil/marker holder for my daughter who started kindergarten this year."  And here are Christa's step by step instructions ...

I found a chipboard container/tin that I wasn't using anymore to use as the foundation.  I also wanted to dig through my stash and find primarily scraps for this one so I could use up the old before cutting into new!

I measured, cut and covered the entire can with Tree House View paper.  After that I used a border punch with the Neighbors paper and lined the top and bottom for a border on the can.  I wanted a central focal point and some decoration in the middle so I made an accordian flower as a base.  I cut a strip and used my scallop border punch, then started folding.

After that I did some layering with a chipboard flower, a punched yellow circle and the letter "e" for my daughter's first name.  I glued it all down and there you have a nice pencil can re-purposed from other products!

Pebbles supplies used:
Tree House View (751027)
Tree House Neighbors (751031)
Tree House Merriment (751028)
Tree House Sunset (751029)

"I took this photo of my sweet cat Priscilla when she was cuddling up next to my daughter's stuffed animal, which is also a cat!  The Cats & Dogs collection was perfect for the layout and I loved combining in a little pink and green from other lines to tie it all together.  I also used the cat stencil and chalk to create a pattern on half of the page."

Design team member Mimi Leinbach created this bold and graphic layout by mixing lots of Pebbles collections.  Here's what Mimi had to say ... "I often times stay within a line when I scrap so I love a good challenge like mixing it up to bring me outside my box. I love how these 3 different lines really work together and still pop on the black background. The black background "grounds" the layout so that these vibrant yet different colors still blended well without clashing. It helped that my photo was neutral and did not introduce any other colors into the design. I also always love the look of a layout when the title is vertical. It adds some interest to the page and design. Best of all I love this photo of my hubby and nephew ... it really shows what a great relationship they have."

"I was so inspired by this sweet bedding set from Pottery Barn. The colors and patterns, the adorable owls, the different color of the trees (look at that blue tree trunk!). I even loved the stitching of the quilted comforter and the scallops of green on the edges. On my layout, I used the tree as a large base image, cut it out with my Cricut, and then added around it. I added my photos in a line, with all the green in the backgrounds the photos of my daughter really stand out. I love that blue trunk, I'm quite a literal girl- see my green tree leaves and green grass, so it was fun to add a touch inspired by this comforter. I liked the quilting look as well, so I added in a little brown ink fake stitching around my tree. I also punched the green dot paper, matching the green on the photo, and punched it into scallops as well. Pottery Barn always mixes colors so wonderfully, it was so inspiring to mix my Pebbles lines and have it turn out as nicely!"

Theme: Inspired By

Happy 2011 everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend.  This week on the Pebbles blog I have asked some of our design team members to create projects based on an inspiration piece of their choice.  But before I share what our talented designers have created for us today I wanted to thank all of you who entered our giveaway last week.  I loved reading all of the ideas for more dimensional stickers products from Pebbles! And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations Char! Please email your full name and mailing information to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Dimensional Stickers Winner" in the subject line.

Design team member Deena Wuest gathered inspiration for her project from this adorable holiday card.  Here's what Deena had to say ... "When I came across this holiday card, I fell in love with the refreshing simplicity. It was the perfect inspiration for this quick and easy card. A patterned paper border, a few rub ons and a fun "chip" are all it takes to create a sweet sentiment that's sure to make someone's day."

Design team member LG Belarmino used the ancient tradition of basket weaving as her inspiration.  Here's what LG had to say ... "Weaving is one of the most ancient forms of human creativity. Baskets and textiles would not have been possible without weaving. Inspired by this technique, I was able to utilize leftover scraps that I still have from Pebbles Twitterpated collection to create this card."
