More With Love Projects with Ashley and Mel

Design team member Ashley Stephens created this lovely layout about the two loves of her life.  Here's what Ashley had to say ... ""With Love is BY FAR my favorite Valentine's line to date. The cute prints were enough but then they mixed in kraft and I was instantly in LOVE! There are also a lot of new additions to the Pebbles embellishment line up that I think you'll really like - the heart topped toothpick flags, the shaped paperclips, and even heart shaped candy dots! It's a good thing that there is a few months until Valentine's day because I've got a lot of ideas churning!"

More WIth Love Projects from Aphra and Mandie

First things first, I have a winner to announce from last week's "Guest Designer" giveaway. Thank you all so much for your comments. And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information (including your phone number for shipping purposes) to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Guest Designer Winner" in the subject line.

Design team member Aphra Bolyer used our With Love collection to document the "love notes" her son Ethan sent to his preschool friends this past Valentine's Day.  Here's what Aphra had to say ... "Although these pictures of my son heading off to school with his classmates' Valentines in hand are a little dark and grainy, I was so grateful that my husband thought to take them for me while I was at work and I still wanted to document this sweet memory.  By printing the pictures in wallet size, I was able to minimize their poor quality a little.  The small pictures also left a lot of room on my page for me to embellish, so I filled it with three layered, dangling hearts cut from my die cut machine."

With Love Week

All this week on the Pebbles blog we are going to be focusing on our mid-release collection - With Love!  With Love incorporates the traditional colors of Valentine's Day - red, pink, and white - to create an endearing line of products perfect for lovely scrapbooking and card making.  As you'll see from our designers, however, the With Love collection can be used for so much more than Valentine's Day projects so sit back and enjoy as our designers wow you with their creativity.

First up, design team member Laura Craigie professes her love for the perfect sugar cookie on this adorably sweet layout.  Here's what Laura had to say ... "The new With Love line is so incredibly cute, and I thought it would be perfect to record my small love affair with these cookies.  Most of all I love the Kraft alphabets.  They are the perfect blank canvas to decorate.  I covered the word "sugar" in blue glitter, but you could also color, stamp on, or doodle on them to totally change the look. Guest Designer: Cindy Liebel and a GIVEAWAY!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to introduce you to this week's Guest Designer Cindy Liebel.  Let's get to know Cindy a little better ...

Describe yourself in 3 words … happy, creative & thoughtful.

My guilty pleasure is
… three layer chocolate cake sprinkled with chopped nuts & topped with vanilla bean ice cream with drizzles of chocolate syrup.

You’ll never find me without … my 60D & lip gloss.

You might be surprised to know that … this year my be the first year that I don't plan on Black Friday shopping. As much as I enjoy the rush of it all & the good deals, my shopping will be done online this year, in my jammies.

My least favorite chore is
… ironing 1st & putting away laundry 2nd.

I started scrapbooking in ... 2003, 9 months after my son was born.

My favorite thing about this hobby is
... the satisfaction of creating with my hands, being with friends who enjoy the hobby as much as I do & the excitement of new product that some how finds it way into my studio & onto my pages.

If I were a Pebbles product I would be … I can never get enough of the Dimensional Butterflies.

Cindy created so many amazing projects for us today including this fun self-portrait layout.  Here's what Cindy had to say ... "I got a little snap happy while trying on clothes. I just loved everything I had picked out to see how they would all fit. This particular shirt was a favorite. I just love the delicate ruffled layered fabric pieces on this shirt & how the shirt looked on me. This was a lucky shot, aim & shoot & hope it's a good one kind of photo. I love how the photo turned out & thought it would be perfect to use as the background for my page. I printed the large photo onto white cardstock for a canvas look and embellished around it with a variety of stickers, dimensional embellishments, two tiny photos & machine stitching for more added texture. Super simple!"

Pebbles supplies used:

Floral Lane Memory Lane (751119)

Other supplies used:

Cardstock (American Crafts)
Brads (American Crafts)

Here's what Cindy had to say about her next project ... "I really love loading up my layouts with lots of small photos. As soon as I saw the clothes pins embellishments, I knew I had to create a clothes line affect with lots of photos. Once I decided on the background & after tucking one side of each twine behind the layered border, I machine stitched to keep the twin from moving, then hung each photo with a clothes pin & added pop dots for dimension. I like how the colors and textures come together with the illusion of hanging photos giving it a bit of a whimsical look."

Here's what Cindy had to say about her next project ... "Ever since I entered into the 40 something club, I have been trying to set goals for myself. I'm on a journey of trying and completing those goals and wanted to document each of them in a journal. So, I cut out lots & lots of cardstock & pattern papers to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" & bounded them together, with plenty of room to grow. Each of the pages are left blank so when I am ready to add to it, I can write & embellish as I go along. It will be fun look back at everything I have aspired to do."

Cindy also created a project to go along with our "grateful" theme this week.  Here's what Cindy had to say ... "Last year during the month of November I documented all things I was grateful for each day. This particular photo was snapped on the 17th by my daughter, who at the time was 3 1/2 years old & the journaling was pulled from my blog. I loved the colors and textures of the paper so much I had to use my Silhouette machine to cut out leaves to go along with the fall theme. Out of all the photos of me that day, this was one of two that was not blurry, but with my eyes looking away from the camera - to balance out the layout, I embellished the page with the die-cut leaves that kinda give a floating affect."

"November is National Adoption Month so I knew that for "I'm Grateful" week that I needed to share more about the gift that I'm most thankful for - my two beautiful daughters through the gift of adoption! While not a perfect photo, this is the only one we have of my husband and me together on the day we got to meet our twin girls for the very first time. Every day we should remember to be grateful for all the blessings in our lives.  Thanksgiving is the perfect time as a family to reflect with one another, and to celebrate this joyous occasion. This frame uses the Fresh Goods collection. I wanted to use this colorful collection, and added in some burlap fabric to round out the background. Theme: I'm Grateful For ...

In honor of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, this week on the Pebbles blog is all about being grateful.  Our design team members have created projects to celebrate who (or what) they are thankful for.  On behalf of the entire Pebbles design team and staff I would just like to take a moment to say that we are grateful for you, our blog readers, and your continued support of our products and our design team.  So thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.  :)

Design team member Elizabeth Carney created this gorgeous layout including letters of gratitude to her daughter.  Here's what Elizabeth had to say ... "I have wanted to use these cute envelopes like this the moment I got them! I had all sorts of ideas, but thought in the end that writing a personal letter to Alyssa would be more of an intimate way for her to read it later down the road. These envelopes were the perfect way to do that!"

"I love filling little gift boxes with little sweet treats for people as a quick thank you gift and when I came across this heart gift box template from A Little Hut (http://alittlehut.com/) I thought that it would be perfect to use with some of my favourite Pebbles products! I printed the template directly on to one side of the patterned paper, cut it out and stuck it together with some strong liquid glue. I stamped a sentiment on to a little tag using the Floral Lane alphabet stamps and tied some baker's twine from the New Addition ribbon card at the top of the tag. This was relatively quick and easy to make, so I can definitely see myself making a bunch more as little thank you gifts for people."

More Silhouette Projects with ME!

Today it's my turn to share a few projects that I (Lynn Ghahary) created using the Pebbles shapes for Silhouette.  First let me just say that I LOVE my Silhouette.  Seriously love it!  It's so easy to use and just allows for so many possibilities.  For my first project I altered a picture frame that I had in my stash using papers from the New Addition Boy collection.  The photo is of my sweet little nephew Kian - isn't he an angel?  Once I had my frame covered I cut a tag shape using the Silhouette and kraft cardstock.  I then cut the adorable whale shape with some blue patterned paper and layered it on my tag with dimensional adhesive.  I added a Dimensional Sticker for the perfect finishing touch.

For my second project I created a pair of cards also using the New Addition Boy collection.  These cards were quick, fun, and easy to make and I could absolutely see creating a set of these to give a new mother as a gift or to use for baby shower invitations or thank yous.

More Silhouette Projects with Wendy Sue!

Design team member Wendy Sue Anderson created the perfect home decor project just in time for the holidays using Pebbles for Silhouette images and the Welcome Christmas collection.  Here's what Wendy had to say ... "I’m already getting excited to pull out my Christmas decorations, but my family thinks I should wait until after Thanksgiving … so I decided to make a little holiday project, just to satisify my holiday “itch.” :)   I found this little frame in my stash of alterables and I knew it would be perfect for a little Christmas project!  I love the simple Christmas tree shape from the Silhouette store, so I decided to use those for my project.  I cut it out several different times, in several different sizes, from a handful of different papers.  Again, I love how versatile one little shape can be – well worth the 99 cent investment!  After cutting out several trees, I decorated them with various embellishments.  I used foam squares to add dimension to a few of the trees too.  After the trees were complete, I added some fun elements to the frame and now it’s sitting on my sofa table – mixed right in with my Thanksgiving decorations!"

Here's what Wendy had to say about her next project ... "I’ve never really been a huge fan of pastel pink and blue for babies.  I don’t know why … but it’s the truth.  I decided to use some primary colors to create a set of baby cards to have on hand.  The elephant shape is from the baby collections, but I used papers from the Fresh Goods collection for a fun twist.  I love being able to take one shape and cut it out in the size I want, and from the paper I want.  This one elephant shape could be used in so many different ways, I’m already thinking of more projects I can make with him!"

More Silhouette Projects with Christa!

Design team member Christa Paustenbaugh shows us how easy it is to scrap those holiday memories using the Pebbles for Silhouette images.  Here's what Christa had to say ... "I normally have so much trouble scrapping holiday photos since I'm not great at it, but the Silhouette/Pebbles shapes were too fun to pass up!  I cut 2 different tag shapes big enough to house my 3 x 3 photos on them.  I made those the main focus of the layout as if to decorate the page for the holidays.  I also cut the "Happy Holidays" sentiment out, but chose to only use the Holiday from it.  It was very easy to cut apart for use on my page.  With just a few added embellishments the page was made with primarily the Silhouette images!"

More Silhouette Projects with Kim!

Design team member Kim Kesti created several adorable projects for us today using her Silhouette and Pebbles images.  Here's what Kim had to say about her first project ... "“What a treat to use the new designs from Pebbles with my Silhouette Craft Cutter. The images are so true to Pebbles design and it’s such a bonus to be able to cut them in any size with any variety of paper. I just had a ball experimenting! My first project uses an adorable flower design. I loved using paper that matched the cute little ladybug. Pebbles has so many felt embellishments that work well with the digital images."

Here's what Kim had to say about her second project ... "I couldn’t resist cutting some of the Christmas tag shapes for my second project. They are so elegant and beautiful when they are cut. These photos just don’t do them justice. I only added a little touch of bling, some ribbon, and a clothespin accent to finish the tags – super easy projects that pack a lot of punch!  Thanks Pebbles and Silhouette – you make a great team!”

Pebbles and Silhouette Week!

Did you know Pebbles sells shapes at the Silhouette Online Store? Yes we most certainly do!  We have designs from our Welcome Christmas, New Addition Boy and Girl, Fresh Goods, and Floral Lane collections!  These Silhouette images coordinate perfectly with our collections and make a great addition to your layouts, cards, and other projects.  All this week we'll be featuring projects from some of our very talented design team members showing you just how easy it is to pair Pebbles and Silhouette.

Today design team member Valerie Mangan created a pair of projects featuring our Welcome Christmas collection and coordinating Silhouette shapes.  Here's what Valerie had to say about her first project ... "I made this little mini book to replace my December Daily album this year. Knowing I will be very pressed for time next month, I decided I'd focus on a few details of the holiday season rather than 25 straight days. I used Pebbles Silhouette shapes to cut the tags, then backed them with a selection of papers from the Welcome Christmas line. I supplemented the tags with some small envelopes I made, also with papers from the Welcome Christmas line. In addition to adding extra pages to my little book, the envelopes will be used to save small items like receipts, lists and ticket stubs. I made sure some of the tags have space for small photos and included some pre-made list forms to fill in details I'll want to record."

Here's what Valerie had to say about her next project ... "This simple grid layout was a great way to show off some more of Pebble's shapes for the Silhouette. I loved the idea of filling 2 of the squares with die cut elements. I used die cut trees in one square with White Candy Dot button 'snow' and the sentiment "home" in another. I used the negative cut of the sentiment and backed it with some white cardstock. To add a little more interest to the grid, I added a couple of the graphic poinsettia shapes and one of the Fresh Goods inspired frames."

Guest Designer: Kimberly Neddo and a GIVEAWAY!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to introduce you to this week's Guest Designer Kimberly Neddo.  Let's get to know Kimberly a little better ...

Describe yourself in 3 words … considerate, compassionate and loyal.

My guilty pleasure is …
Graham Crackers with Cream Cheese frosting. *Yum*

You’ll never find me without …
my camara and gear.

You might be surprised to know that I …
am and always have been a bit of a dare devil. I've been sky diving, and used to be an acrobat water skier, a gymnast and a fly girl cheerleader and so much more. I love doing things that get my adrenaline going!

My least favorite chore is …
ironing.

I started scrapbooking in ...
1996 on my son's due date! :) I wound up having him 9 days late.

My favorite thing about this hobby is ...
the ever changing trends and challenges. It never grows stagnant and I just love creating things with my hands.

If I were a Pebbles product I would be …
the pretty soft Velvet Yo Yos. :)

Kimberly created so many amazing projects for us today including this gorgeous layout with a heartfelt message for her daughter.  Here's what Kimberly had to say ... "To start with on this layout, I sprayed some mist on the paper and allowed for some drops to splatter for a fun effect. The Floral Lane line was just perfect for these photographs. I created a fun flower embellishment by layering a couple of punched flowers with the dimensional stickers. I took apart the velvet flower and added a fabric brad to the center."

Pebbles supplies used:
Floral Lane With Delight (751124)
Floral Lane with Love (751122)
Floral Lane Dimensional Phrase Stickers (732054)
Floral Lane Dimensional Stickers (732056)

Fresh Goods Fabric Brads (744277)
Spinach Button Candy Dots (744275)

Other supplies used:
Cardstock (American Crafts)
Spray Mist

Here's what Kimberly had to say about her next project ... "For this layout, I created a strip of photographs that I love to compliment the enlarged photograph and grouped them together.  For me, this helps tell the story to the layout.  Once I have the photographs in place, I enjoy the process of embellishing the layout that also compliments the photographs and design. I took apart one of the Velvet Yo Yos and added an accordian flower to it.  I also created a slight pleating strip border for dimension, to draw the viewers eye to the title and journaling."

Pebbles supplies used:
Floral Lane Just Because (751116)
Floral Lane Memory Lane (751119)
Floral Lane Dimensional Phrase Stickers (732054)

Here's what Kimberly had to say about her next project ... "I've been wanting to create a layout with this photograph for some time now. I love Fresh Good's line for this creation. I wanted a simple design to keep the focus on this special photograph, and also have plenty of room to journal their sweet relationship."

Pebbles supplies used:

Kimberly created not only layouts but several gorgeous cards for us as well.  Here's what Kimberly had to say about her first card ... "I love using bar code strips that have a pattern on the back for fun borders. For this card, I inked the edges of the strips and distressed the edges for a fun effect. I love the zig zag in the patterned paper, and decided to give a fun look by cutting and layering it. For a fun effect on stamping, try going off the edge a little and then trace around the letters. I made this card for my husband's birthday."

For this simple card, I cut a strip of the patterned paper and made a couple of banners and layered them over each other for a fun look. I wanted to draw out the white around the border, so I stitched around the edges and left the string hanging for an added effect."

New search option!

Hello there! Trying to find a past post but can't seem to remember when it was published? Never fear! We've just added the option to search the Pebbles blog through a widget on the left-hand side of the blog, underneath the "Labels" list. No more clicking through dozens of pages, scrolling and scanning in hopes of finding that inspiration you're craving.

We have a lot of content on the site, so we're excited to give all of you the convenience of keyword-searching our archives. It will also search our design team's blogs and the American Crafts Studio Blog. How nifty is that?

So give it a try, and have more time for crafting!

Sketchy Thursday

I'm excited to bring you two layouts based on the following sketch. Get ready to be inspired!

First up is Pebbles Design Team member Melanie Blackburn, who interpreted the sketch and made it all her own with this delightful layout featuring lots and lots of Fresh Goods. Here's what she had to say about it: "
This sketch was so much fun to work with. I love the placement of the smaller pictures and instead of using a 4x6 picture, I stitched a frame in its place, which created a focus for the title, journaling and embelishments. Sketches are meant to inspire and can be modified to make it fit to your style. That's why sketches are so much fun to design with!"

Next up is a festive Christmas layout by Suzanne Sergi utilizing the jolly Welcome Christmas line. Here's what Suzanne had to say about it: "I love to use sketches for my layouts, especially sketches with more than one picture. I am normally a one photo page kind of gal! For this layout I decided to use the Welcome Christmas Collection. I will admit I am ready for the holiday season to arrive. I love the traditional color palette of this collection. Bright reds, and deep greens, perfect for documenting the Christmas moments. I did use the sketch as a great guide for the placement of my photos. I did change the placement of my title, and embellishments. In the end, though, thanks to the sketch it took me about an hour to design!"

How-To Tuesday

Before we get into the tutorial, I'm excited to announce the winner of a Pebbles layered embellishment set from last week's Product Parade post. Congratulations Sassette! Be sure to send your full name, mailing address and phone number (for shipping purposes) to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Layered Embellishments Winner" in the subject line.

I know it's not yet Thanksgiving, but it never hurts to get a jump-start on Christmas decor ideas, right? Today we have a How-To from Anna Sigga on star ornaments made from Pebbles paper and embellishments. Here's what Anna had to say: "I love making Holiday decoration using my scrapbook supplies and these stars are really fun and easy to make."

Step 1.
Trace a star pattern on the backside of your pattern paper. You can draw your own stars or look for templates via Google (I used Google).

Step 2. Cut the patterned paper and you will have your basic star shape.

Step 3.
Next score from each point of the star to the center on the other side. I marked the score lines with numbers.

Step 4. Fold all the five score lines accordion like and your star will be in 3-D. Ink the edges (if you like) and embellish away.

Mix & Match Monday

It's Monday again, which means we'll be mixing and matching some Pebbles products to show you just how well our collections can be used with one another.

The first layout is by design team member Gretchen McElveen. Here's what she had to say about it. "I knew I wanted to use a lot of pink on this page about running the Race for the Cure. I was also anxious to use some of the super new With Love line! Basically I rummaged through my Pebbles products to find all things pink and then paired some of those things up with bits and pieces of the With Love line. Sweet-treat boxes and an anniversary book

We've got some splendid projects to share with you today from two of our Pebbles design team members. First up is Pearl Liu with treat boxes that are just as sweet as the candy that goes inside. Here's what Pearl said: The heavyweight patterned papers of the With Love line were easy to score and fold up and the box shape held well even after candy was added to the boxes. As always I had fun embellishing with everything I have on hand from the collection."

Dear Pebbles

We are in love with these gorgeous cards by Pebbles Design Team member Sarah Webb. She used the new Valentine's Day line, With Love, and Fresh Goods to create these beautifully layered cards. Here's what she had to say: "I started these two cards with the rub ons, and since my embossing machine was still out from my last set of cards, I decided I really should put my dies and punches to work again. created both a layout and a card using embellishments from the new With Love collection. Here's what she had to say: "I just love the Layered Embellishments that Pebbles make. They add such big impact to your project and because they are self adhesive are as quick to use as any sticker. I've had this cute picture of my son for years and knew I had to use the cute hearts on a page with it. Then I just used the scraps and goodies on my desk from my layout and made a matching card."
