Mix & Match Monday

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend.  Today on the Pebbles blog we'll be mixing and matching some Pebbles products to show you just how well our collections can be used with one another.

Design team member Savitri Wilder created this adorable card and matching gift wrap using goodies from several Pebbles collections.  Here's what Savitri had to say ... "Lately I've been into wrapping small gifts up in pretty pattern paper and decorating it. Pebbles provided me with the perfect materials to create a cute and fun gift wrap for our daughter's present. She loved the gift and she also has a little something to remind her of what the gift was wrapped in. The "for you" card is now in her little keepsake box. "

Pebbles supplies used:

Tree House 3x3 Cards (751024)

Other supplies used:

Design team member Melinda Spinks created this adorable baby card and added a fun pop of color by mixing and matching.  Here's what Melinda had to say ... "I never have an issue with mixing and matching my products from Pebbles as everything seems to go together perfectly. I'm forever diving into collections to find the perfect ribbon, rub-on or co-ordinating patterned paper as they all seem to blend beautifully. The sign of a great collection is one that will work with any collection from the same company and Pebbles 'hits the nail on the head' everytime!"

Design team member Mimi Leinbach lifted a project by fellow design team member Kryssi Ng.  Here's what Mimi had to say ... "I had a terrible time trying to decide what layout to scraplift but Kryssi's amazing style just drew me in. I love the simplicity of it ... with that perfect touch of "art". I just loved how she wrote her journaling around the edge of the page in her own handwriting ... the little bit of paint, perfect embellishments and adorable photo made this layout perfect!"

More "Scraplifted" Projects with Kristen, LG, and Sarah

Design team member Kristen Swain was inspired by a recent layout by fellow team member Eva Pizarro.  Here's what Kristen had to say ... "I am in love with simple clean layout design. However, it's not the style I typically look to when creating. Using Eva's layout as inspiration made this whole Valentine layout come together so much faster for me. I loved her use of squares and the small embellished paper squares, plus the cute scalloped border surrounding the whole inside. I was able to mix and match Pebbles papers and embellishments to create this sweet layout of my girls."

Design team member Jennifer Yates lifted a project by fellow team member Guiseppa Gubler.  Here's what Jennifer had to say ... "I was so drawn to Guiseppa Gubler's double page layout "I Love Yellowstone."  I love how she showcased all the patterned papers on the top of the page and left the bottom to display her photos!  The banner across the page is perfect!  I was inspired to create a single page layout and flipped the design using the 3 x 3 Perforated Cards from the Twitterpated Line! This layout is of my friend Natalie and her three darling kiddos!"

"I decided to scraplift this fun layout by LG.  I have had that fun border punch in my basket for months and just haven't taken it out yet.  When I saw LG's layout I was very inspired to open it up and use it!  I loved the way she layered the strips with the random colors behind each circle.  The only difference is that I used a slightly larger circle punch to punch out the patterned paper, coated the entire back of the strips with spray adhesive, and just popped the circles on, then layered them onto the background - it was super fast and I love the result.  I also used two photos, butterflies, and photos of my sweeties!  Thanks for the inspiration, LG! :o)"

More "Scraplifted" Projects with Laura, Guiseppa, and Stephanie

First things first, I have a winner to announce from last week's "Whip It Up" giveaway.  Thank you all so much for your comments.  And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Whip It Up Winner" in the subject line.

Design team member Laura Vegas decided to do a lift of fellow team member Eva Pizarro's layout.  Here's what Laura had to say ... "I just loved Eva Pizarro's "Goodbye 2010" layout, and thought it would be perfect for my scraplift. The first thing that caught my eye, was the grid pattern that she arranged her photos and the paper squares in. That totally fits my style of scrapbooking. I love how she added a wide assortment of embellishments to the squares of pattern paper. Pulling papers and embellishments from lots of different collections is so much fun, and something that I like to do as well. I also drew from the colors she used on her layout. She went with greens, pinks, and yellows. While I choose to use pinks, yellows, and oranges, mixed with a touch of green. And I just noticed that she machine stitched around her squares of pattern paper, as I was typing this. Which is something I also did on my layout."

Design team member Guiseppa Gubler created a remembrance layout based on an original layout by Zoe Nemburt.  Here's what Guiseppa had to say ... "My cousin's cat recently had to be put down because it had cancer.  She wanted a special remembrance layout to hang on her wall and she asked me if I would do it.  I knew exactly what I wanted to do, the "Cats and Dogs" collection (of course) and I wanted to scrap lift Zoe's layout Bailey that she created with the "Cats and Dogs" collection.  I love the way Zoe made this layout pop, so I mimicked some of the design and added a few different ideas of my own.  I am very happy with the end result and I hope my cousin cherishes it for a long time to come!  Special thanks to Zoe for inspiring me too!"

I took inspiration from her mix of patterned papers, scalloped edges, journaling strips and the way she clustered all the flower embellishments around the bottom of her photo to use as focal points on my own layout. I’m really pleased with how it turned out. Thanks for the inspiration, Jennifer!”

Theme: Scraplift a Design Team Member

Happy Monday everyone!  This week on the Pebbles blog it's all about scraplifting!  What is "scraplifting" you ask?  Scraplifting is the the act of "lifting" or copying ideas and/or designs from another person’s scrapbook page to use in your own pages.  Designs or ideas can be copied in whole or in part.  And most importantly be sure to give credit where credit is due.  If you do "lift" someone else's idea be sure to mention where the idea originated.  I've asked some of our design team members to "scraplift" their fellow teammates.

Design team member Christa Paustenbaugh decided to lift a project by team member Suzanne Sergi.  Here's what Christa had to say ... "I am a huge fan of Suzanne Sergi and love what she can do with home decor projects!  I chose her canvas project to lift and made it into layout form.  I stuck with a block design, but instead of 9 smaller squares, I used 4 larger squares of patterned paper as a backdrop to my lined photos.  The photos replicated the strip of patterned paper she had in the middle of her project.  I also chose to lift the Twitterpated line that she used because I just love that line and thought it would make my rather monotone photos pop more."

Design team member Kryssi Ng was inspired by a layout from team member LG Belarmino.  Here's what Kryssi had to say ... "I decided to try something new by creating a hybrid layout. I used LG's clean layout as inspiration. I think the reds complement each other nicely and I love that I was able to use the texty papers and punch out the words LOVE to complement my theme. "

"I absolutely adore LG's style and when I saw this page earlier this month I wanted to scraplift it right away, I pretty much kept the design elements the same I changed up the colour scheme and used a softer background, My favourite element from LG's design was the border punches design filled in with various papers, what a genius idea!"

Free For All Friday

Happy Friday everyone! We are wrapping up the week with a few "free for all" projects from some of our design team members.

Design team member Christa Paustenbaugh created this layout about her daughter's adorable new smile.  Here's what Christa had to say ... "I've said it before, but will say again how much I love that the New Arrival lines can be used for so much more than baby layouts!  If one side of the paper is too baby-ish, just flip it over and there is always a wonderful neutral pattern on the other side to use!  That's what I did with this layout about my oldest and her sudden pumpkin smile.  I flipped the pink bird paper over and had a fabulous diamond tan pattern paper on the other side for a background.  I love putting pinks and browns together so I ran the whole array from tan to dark brown and from a very soft pink to bright pink.  Lots of variations that you can use with this line!"

Design team member Ginger Williams created this bright and colorful layout about her son.  Here's what Ginger had to say ... "I love the fun font of the alphabet stickers in the Tree House line! They are fun and whimsical, (plus they have glitter) and I thought it would be fun to do a layout that would feature them prominently. I thought they added the perfect touch to this layout about my youngest son's attempt to build things out of Legos just like his older brothers."

Sketchy Thursday

For today's edition of "Sketchy Thursday" I asked some of our design team members to create a project based on this fabulous sketch by Becky Fleck.

Design team member Laura Vegas created this beautiful layout all about her daughter Alyssa.  Here's what Laura had to say ... "I love working with sketches! I love that they guide me on the basic page design, so that I can use my creative juices for choosing products and trying fun techniques. When I work with sketches, I tend to follow the design exactly as it's shown. I did adjust my photo sizes a bit, since I was cropping regular 4x6 prints and couldn't go much smaller on a few. For my background paper, I wanted to use the darker grey dot pattern paper, but I only had half a sheet to work with. I simply cut 4 strips that were 1.5 inches wide, and then adhered them around the outside edges of an extra piece of white cardstock. Then I built the rest of my layout on that white cardstock as well, so that it still looks like the dark grey paper is my background paper. A great tip for using up paper scraps."

Pebbles supplies used:
May Bouquet Garden (7610150)
May Bouquet Daisy (751020)
May Bouquet Courtyard (751019)
May Bouquet Blossom (751018)

Glitter Yellow Candy Dots (744221)

Other supplies used:

Cardstock (American Crafts)
Punch (EK Success)

Design team member Kim Kesti flipped the sketch to make it work with these vintage photos of her parents.  Here's what Kim had to say ... "I just love working with sketches (and Becky’s are my favorite). For this sketch, I wanted to scrap an 8 ½ X 11 so I rotated the sketch 90 degrees. I still used three photos and it’s not a bit crowded. Love that. The New Arrival Girl works surprisingly well for a “Young Love” layout. Love that, too!”

Design team member Samantha Sibbet shows how versatile this sketch is by using it on a card instead of a layout.  Here's what Samantha had to say ... "I thought this great sketch would work well for a smaller lay out or even a card. The combination of a sketch and the sweet New Arrival embellishments made this a fun card  to put together."

Whip It Up Wednesday plus a GIVEAWAY!

For today's post I challenged some of our design team members to "whip up" a project using Pebbles products in 30 minutes or less. Check out these fabulous projects that can be created in no time at all!

Design team member Anna Sigga sure knows how to get crafty on a budget ... time budget that is!  Here's what Anna had to say ... "Creating a layout, card or any other project rarely takes me less than 30 min but all those cute establishments from Pebbles make it much easier to stay inside the 30 min frame. I may have cheated a tiny bit by pre-cutting all the papers, but even if I add the "paper cutting time" to my over all time it took me 37 min. I sure hope you can forgive me ;o) The New Arrival collections are so cute and those cute chipboard embellishments really make a simple card pop - and the whale is so darn cute. I had a real hard time "letting go"!! :D"

Design team ember Kristen Swain is a card guru and created this adorable twosome in no time at all!  Here's what Kristen had to say ... "I made both these cards in just 30 minutes. When creating something with a time limit, it helps to have an idea of your design in your head. I also basically kept the paper design the same, cutting pieces and hand cutting the scallop paper in the same manner. I also tried to keep the cards more simple, and using Pebbles Chipboards and layered stickers make the designs look like I spent so much more time creating these cards, when it was just a matter of peeling them off the packaging and sticking them onto the cards!"

Design team member Suzanne Sergi knows how to pack a lot of punch in a small amount of time.  Here's what Suzanne had to say ... "With Valentine's Day, I needed some last minute Valentine's Cards! The 30 minute timeline was about all I had one afternoon! However, the color palettes of all the collections work so well together, that choosing paper was easy! I paired New Arrival Girl with a paper from Twitterpated to create this card. I loved the premade embellishments, because with a few adjustments, I was able to add a few simple details. With a few layers of paper, and hearts, it gave my card the added dimension I love. All of this came together in 30 minutes!! Finished the card with my favorite crinkled ribbon from Pebbles! A few pieces of paper, premade embellishments, and under 30 minutes, is all it takes to show someone how much you care!"

How To Tuesday

First things first, I have a winner to announce from last week's "LOVE " giveaway.  Thank you all so much for your comments.  And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information as well as your choice of Pebbles collection to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "LOVE Winner" in the subject line.

Today's "How To" post is brought to you by the very talented LG Belarmino.  Here's what LG had to say ... "I love experimenting with my pages. With this layout, I played with my border punches and mists. By doing this, I was able to personalize my page and choose the color combination I wanted (yellow and green)."  And here are LG's step by step instructions ...

Today, I would like to share with you a very simple technique that you can apply on your very own page. This technique will maximize the use of your patterned papers because you'll be able to use small leftover scrap papers. Here, I used leftover scraps from the Tree House collection. The materials you will need are your favorite border punch and a big pattern template of your choice (I used a butterfly template).

Step 1: Using your preferred border punch, punch out several strips from a cardstock.

Step 2: Cover the punched areas with your leftover scraps. My color combination here is yellow and green so I alternately used different patterned papers to achieve my desired look.

Step 3: From a 3"x4" cardstock piece, trace your template and cut it out. We will use the negative part instead of the cutout butterfly. Use foam tape as your adhesive and add it around the cutout area. This will give dimension to the design.

Step 4: Adhere the negative cutout to a 3"x4" patterned paper of your choice.

Now, feel free to add these patched items on your pages! Here is my finished layout using the patching technique:

Mix & Match Monday

Happy Monday everyone!  And a Happy Valentine's Day as well!  Time to mix things up a bit on the Pebbles blog as some of our design team members show off their creative skills while mixing and matching products from several Pebbles collections.

Design team member Kryssi Ng mixed 3 different Pebbles collections on this adorable layout.  Here's what Kryssi had to say ... "I kind of panicked for a bit when this project was assigned.  Mixing and matching is not my expertise.  But, I was able to calm down after I laid out my papers and stared at them for a good 5 minutes.  Pebbles uses a lot of bright, bold colors in all their lines, even the softer collections like New Arrival with the rich brown tones.  Mixing and matching wasn't too bad after I figured that out!"

Design team member Ginger Williams created these adorable love themed cards using our Twitterpated 3x3 cards as her starting point.  Here's what Ginger had to say ... "I love how easy card making is with the 3x3 cards in the Twitterpated line! All I had to do is pick the sentiments out that I wanted and then fold along the perforated lines to pop them out of the 12x12 sheet. Super simple! "When Lynn challenged us to do a love layout I was going to do the typical romantic layout but decided to go a little more outside the normal "love" box. We all have things we love and my son Nick realized what he loved at the age of 3 ... SOCCER. He plays it every day, of every season. He loves to watch soccer videos, talk about the game, and when the weather is bad ... like 13+ inches of snow we have right now he is inside playing soccer on his Kinect. Last spring when we were making our summer plans he asked me if he could go to a soccer camp every week of the summer. Of course since we don't have a money tree he had to narrow it down to 3 camps, total torture for the kid, lol! He has a love for the game that just amazes me and I have no doubt that soccer will be part of his life forever."

More Love Projects with Eva, Melinda, and Suzanne

Design team member Eva Pizarro combined the Twitterpated and Cats & Dogs collections on this gorgeous layout.  Here's what Eva had to say ... ""I love the color combination between the Twitterpated and the Cats & Dogs collections. The fuchsia and the green give a fun twist to a Valentine's layout. To make the hearts in my layout I used a quilling technique. Just cut a strip of paper, bend it in half, curl each end using a quilling tool and glue the two circles together.  If you don't have a quilling tool just cut the top of an embroidery needle."

"I've never been one for celebrating Valentine's Day as the commercialism seems to overshadow the romanticism. So this year I decided to steer away from the romantic aspect of the day and do a project for my daughter on how much we love her. To be perfectly honest it's one of the first mini albums I've attempted and won't be the last as I really enjoyed being able to make little pages using small photos and a whole bundle of fun, pretty and girly embellishments. Design team member Suzanne Sergi created this lovely canvas for her love themed project.  Here's what Suzanne had to say ... "Well, I love creating home decor projects, especially for the holidays! Our theme was Love, so I decided to create a Valentine's Collage on a large 12x12 canvas. The 3x3 cards were the inspiration for this project. They fit perfectly on a mini canvas, and I decided to adhere them to the large canvas. This gave my project the added dimension that I love! I kept the collage pretty simple, by utilizing bits, and pieces from the Twitterpated Collection. You probably have guess by now, that this is my favorite Valentine collection ever! The colors are perfect for this time of year, and fabulous for documenting the everyday too! Brads, buttons, flowers, glitter, ribbon, and a little bit of stamping rounded out my project. I added a little bit of sparkle by adding glitter to a couple of my 3x3 cards! Finished the sides of the canvas, by adding sparkle there, too!"

Design team member Deena Wuest shows us that love comes in other colors than pink and red.  Here's what Deena had to say ... "Feeling the red and pink overload this Valentine's Day season? Try a fresh color combo like this unexpected but fun blue and orange duo for your next Valentine's Day project. Personalize a quick message with a single felt accent and a couple of letter stickers. Filled with candy, little love notes or a miniature surprise, this little box will be sure to make someone's day!"

Design team member Savitri Wilder created several Valentines in just minutes using our 3x3 cards.  Here's what Savitri had to say ... "Need a quick and easy way to make mini Valentine cards for your little one to give out at school? Or grandparents, siblings, parents, etc? Or even for yourself? All you have to do is grab a sheet or two or three of Pebbles Twitterpated 3x3 Cards, a few pieces of cardstock, paper trimmer, and glue and you'll be all set! If you have a scoring tool use one but if not just fold and press with your nail like I did. It took me 10 minutes to make 16 cards. Now, I see all sorts of spicing it up potential. You can add a button to one, a brad to another, a flower, and more. Sweet, huh?!?"

Design team member Lisa Kisch gives us a peek at one of our newest releases Happy Go Lucky on her love themed layout.  Here's what Lisa had to say ... "It was such a treat for me to get an early chance to work with one of our new lines, Happy Go Lucky. The colours and patterns are so cheerful and bright - they bring a little bit of springtime to a Canadian winter! For this layout I wanted to document the way my daughter says "I love you." She says "I la you."  It's becoming a running joke in the family.  She's already starting to pronounce "love" properly - so I wanted to get this layout done while she still had a little baby talk going on. Do your kids have a saying all their own that you could scrap? You'll be glad you did!"

"The theme this week is love and this photo of my girls is full of love and tenderness.  This photo was taken on Christmas day but that doesn't mean it has to be created with holiday themed papers.  The pinks and browns in the New Arrival Girl and Twitterpated collections were simply made for this photo."

Free For All Friday

Happy Friday everyone! We are wrapping up the week with a few "free for all" projects from some of our design team members.

First up is this adorable layout by design team member Lisa Kisch. Here's what Lisa had to say ... "I love to layer buttons, and use them as a base for circle embellishments. In this layout I used six buttons, layered with stickers, candy dots and paper flowers for different effects. I then added lots of stitching and a patchwork of Twitterpated papers to my photos, printed on cardstock for a "shabby chic' look."

Baby Pink ABC Stickers - Girl (732020)
Baby Pink Pearl Candy Dots (744233)

Other supplies used:

Gems (Kaisercraft)

Design team member Melinda Spinks always amazes me with her projects and these adorable baby cards are no exception.  Here's what Melinda had to say ... "Over Christmas I created a few 'MnM' bauble cards to send out to friends which were a great hit, so much so that one of my friends asked me to make a baby boy and baby girl card using the same concept.  Making the rattle was an obvious choice as it was the perfect shape for the packaging containers I had.  Add some yummy MnM's and you have a unique gift card for someone celebrating the arrival of their newest bundle of joy! Mind you, they are great fun to make when you have a big bowl of MnM's beside you as you work!"

Design team member Stephanie Baxter created this simply sweet set of notecards using a variety of Pebbles goodies.  Here's what Stephanie had to say ... "I love making little notecards in place of greetings cards as they are very quick and easy to make (no folding!) and super fun! If you make several similar or matching ones, you can tie them together with some ribbon like I’ve done and give them to someone as a lovely handmade gift. Pebbles has some fabulous rub-ons with various sentiments that are just perfect for this project, and you can print your own message on a strip of cardstock to supplement the rub-ons to make it a bit more personal. Adding some chipboard or felt embellishments or a dimensional sticker gives the notecard a bit of depth and texture, and sticking Candy Dots to the ends of the cardstock strip where your message is printed really finishes it off."

I knew I could handle this!  I created this card using the buttons from the New Arrival Girl Collection.  I cut some hearts out with my Silhouette and embellished them with these fabulous buttons.  I also added some bakers twine and strung some buttons on the end ... perfect!  I couldn't be more happy with the end result!  My first Valentine's Day project ... complete!"

And now onto our projects for today.  First up is design team member LG Belarmino.  Here's what LG had to say ... "'Thank you' sounds simple but these 2 words can have a serious impact and is a great way to start, grow and build relationships. Just think about how nice it felt to hear those words or receive a thank you note after doing a favor for somebody. It felt great, right? Those words encourages us and motivates us to do good to others. We love that we are being recognized even by hearing those simple words.  This is why I love making "Thank you" cards. You can use them anytime and give them to somebody to show appreciation. Here is another Thank You card that I made using leftover scraps from some layouts that I did with the Tree House Collection. The bright and bold colors of this line made everything pop."

How To Tuesday

Hi everyone!  I just got back from CHA late last night.  It was a great show and I'm so happy to report that the new Pebbles collections were VERY well received.  YAY!  I'll be posting the winners of our giveaways tomorrow.  In the meantime we have a very fun "How To" post today from the adorably sweet and talented Kryssi Ng.  Here's what Kryssi had to say ... "I often go crazy stocking up on holiday gift wrapping and often have nothing but plain kraft paper for other gifts, i.e. birthdays and showers. Which is fine because I simply embellish the kraft paper and the final product seems to delight the recipient more because they know that it's been personalized just for them ... makes it that more special! For today's project, I whipped up 1 hour before we had to head out the door to a double birthday bash, a brother and sister celebrating their joint birthdays. The New Arrival Boy and Girl collections worked perfectly for my personalizing needs as there's the pink for the girl and the blue for the boy. I decided to make something fun that the kids can enjoy -- pinwheels!"  And here are Kryssi's step by step instructions ...

We start out with our rather bland and boring kraft wrapped gifts and sheets of 12x12 paper.

I cut 3 strips of paper 1" in width.

Then you wrap the bands around the gifts as such.

From the same patterned paper, cut 6" squares. Fold corner to corner then using a scissor, cut into the folds and about 1/2" from the center. Repeat on all sides.

Taking a hole puncher, I used my Crop-a-Dile, punch a hole on the tips.

Taking a paper piercer, pierce a hole to the center.

Finally, select a brad and gather all the punched corners together to form the pinwheel.

Adhere to gifts!

Tip: To make the pinwheel more sturdy, you can adhere punched circles to the front and back of the paper in the center before you pierce the hole. It will make the pinwheel a lot easier to handle when you start gathering the sides together.
