"I had so much fun playing with the Pebbles Layered Embellishments.  I used the butterfly, dragonfly and lady bug for my layout and thought it was the perfect compliment to the photo of my daughter playing in the tall grass on a Spring day.  I added a bit stitching in white and pink to create movement on the page."

Pebbles supplies used:
Happy Go Lucky Glee (751082)
Happy Go Lucky Splendid (751081)

More Layered Embellishments Projects with Samantha, Laura, and Christa!

Design team member Samantha Sibbet made me squeal out loud when she sent me this cute card for the blog using our "Toys for Boys" Layered Embellishments.  I LOVE the "baby" trail of stitching!  Here's what Samantha had to say ... "Pebbles is really good about keeping scrapbpooking and paper crafting FUN.  I love the new line of layered embellishments, there are so many to choose from, the designs are adorable and I love the colors!  To make this card, I made a template of the word baby, layered it over my pattered paper, pierced holes and hand stitched."

Design team member Laura Vegas created this cute and "pun"ny (get it? hee!) card set using the "Yellow/Orange Fruits" Layered Embellishments.  Here's what Laura had to say ... "When I first saw the fruit set of layered embellishments, I immediately thought of making cute and funny cards using them. There are so many fun sentiments you can come up with, by using a play on words for each fruit. You can even google sentiments, which is what I did for the lemon card. The obvious choice would be "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade". But if you got my lemon card in the mail, when you were feeling down on things, wouldn't my sentiment put a smile on your face ;)"

"I am in love with all the new cute layered embellishments Pebbles came out with this release.  I had a hard time choosing which ones to use, but I'm a bit of a cloud fanatic so I knew these were perfect!  Although these are adhered together really well, it is still manageable to deconstruct and reconstruct them to use how you wish.  I took a button off of one and replaced with a glitter dot, then took the top layer off of another felt cloud and added it to a larger.  Very easy!"

"When I came across this sweet photo of my little girl, I knew the Happy Go Lucky collection was the perfect match. Macie has such a colorful personality that is big and bold. The Glee paper is designed with big and beautiful flowers that simply made my photo pop off the canvas. I used a diecut to be the background for the lovely flower stickers in this collection. Product Parade: Dimensional Stickers

Hey everyone! Today we are focusing on one of my favorite Pebbles products ... Dimensional Stickers! Add a fun layer of dimension to all your paper crafting projects with Pebbles Dimensional Stickers.  Dimensional Stickers are featured in all of our most recent collections and come in lots and lots of shapes and sizes.

Design team member Mimi Leinbach created this gorgeous layout using lots of dimensional stickers from the Happy Go Lucky collection.  Here's what Mimi had to say ... "This layout is all about my favorites, my favorite color is purple, my favorite flower is hydrangea and my favorite Pebbles line is Happy Go Lucky! I just love the dimensional stickers ... they make scrapping easy. Plop one of them down and you have instant texture and dimension. I decided to take the same idea of the layered dimensional stickers and add pop dots to my punched circles which I layered and loved the look. So simple, so easy and totally dimensional."

Pebbles supplies used:

Happy Go Lucky Happy (751091)

Happy Go Lucky Chipboard Flowers (747071)

Other supplies used:

Design team member Melinda Spinks created this stunning layout using her wedding photo - just look at what a beauty she is!  Here's what Melinda had to say ... "When asked to create a project using dimensional stickers I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to use them in a way that would highlight how versatile these little embellishments can be. I find them to be one of the most under-utilized of all the embellishments and personally think they are little individual pieces of artwork in their own right. So rather than using just one sticker from one collection, I decided to do a cluster of the stickers from different collections, kind of like hanging multiple pictures in different frames on a wall. By using the black and white backdrop I was able to build the dimensional stickers into a feature around the photo of my husband and I on our wedding day... and I'm not going to tell how long ago this day was!"

"One of my favorite things to do is to add dimension to my projects. I love layered embellishments and stickers, and these Pebbles stickers are wonderful to work with. The layers are so pretty, and some of the stickers are shiny or glittery!! I even like to add layered stickers on top of each other to add all that much more dimension to my cards. "

Dear Pebbles and our FLORAL LANE WINNER!

First things first, I have a winner to announce from our new release Floral Lane giveaway.  Thank you all for your sweet comments on our newest collection.  And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information (including your phone number for shipping purposes) to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Floral Lane Winner" in the subject line.

And now for some cards created by some of our design team members using their favorite Pebbles products ...

Design team member Zoe Nemburt created this sweet card using our Ever After collection.  Here's what Zoe had to say ... "I made this card for one of my daughters closest friends, I wanted to make more of an impact than an ordinary card would, so I decided to make a step up card - they have so much depth to them and you can create a scenery, or a little fairytale picture fit for any 9 year old to become a princess.  The Ever After collection is so magical with all the added bits of glitter! A beautiful fairytale collection."

Other supplies used:

Flowers and Leaves (Prima)

Design team member Savitri Wilder created this gorgeous card inspired by a previous layout design.  Here's what Savitri had to say ... "Last week I created a layout using a few butterfly die-cuts. The die-cut template I used can produce five butterflies in different shape and size. I had a few more left and decided to use one of them for this card. I also did a bit of stitching and paper piercing on the banner. Pebbles has these awesome chalk stencils and they are so perfect to add a bit of needlework to any project. All I did was put the template over the area I wanted the image to be on and using a piercing tool and foam (usually comes with the piercing tool) I created little holes for where my needle will go. I just eye-balled the whole piercing process, no measuring whatsoever! I have a few different embroidery thread and while watching my little one play I stitched. To make the banner fun, I just used the stencil and with a pencil made a banner outline. Cut around with some good scissors and adhere (you might want to trim it a bit to fit inside the stitched outline). To not crowd the card I added a few other small pieces and the end result is this clean and simple card."

How To Tuesday

First things first, I have a winner to announce from last week's "Spring" giveaway. Thank you all so much for your comments. And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information (including your phone number for shipping purposes) as well as your choice of Pebbles collection to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Spring Winner" in the subject line.

Also if you haven't seen yesterday's post with our new mid-release collection Floral Lane you'll want to check it out and be sure to leave a comment for your chance to win this gorgeous collection!  You have until midnight tonight to enter to win!

Today's "How To" post is brought to you by the very talented Wendy Sue Anderson.  Wendy Sue shows us how to create fun dimensional embellishments.  Here's what Wendy Sue had to say ... "Today I’d love to share a fun little technique to make your own dimensional accents.  The thing I love most about these little babies is that you can make them to coordinate with ANY collection, and the possibilities are limitless!"  And here are Wendy Sue's step by step instructions ...

First you'll need to gather your supplies.  Here's what you'll need: paper scraps, random buttons (you can use any color, but if you have colors to coordinate with your papers, that’s even better), circle punches in various sizes, Mod Podge, sponge brush, and a small file or sandpaper.

Punch several circles from patterned papers.

Place punched circles over buttons – it’s best if the paper circle is slightly bigger than the button, but it will still work even if it’s slightly smaller, you will just be able to see the button around the edges.

Use Mod Podge to attach the paper to the button, apply another layer over the top of the paper.  Allow to dry (this is the most difficult and time consuming part of the entire process!).  If you want to apply a second coat of Mod Podge, do so now (I usually do not use a 2nd coat – I am not patient enough).

Use the file to lightly sand the edges of the paper off of the button.

Use your fun new accents on cards, scrapbook pages, gifts, and whatever projects your heart desires!

Just a few tips:
  • Be patient and allow Mod Podge to dry completely before sanding – otherwise you’ll rip the paper … and that’s not pretty!
  • If you want the button color to show as a border around the edges, just punch the paper with a smaller punch and center the paper on the button when applying Mod Podge.
  • You can do a LOT of these at once … I like to do a bunch and then I just store then in my button jars with the coordinating colors.
  • This is a wonderful way to really stretch your supplies – you can get a lot of these little accents out of scraps you might otherwise throw away!  (Don’t forget to use the tear strips on your Pebbles papers – they are perfect for smaller buttons).
  • Don’t feel limited to round buttons – you can use any shape, just hand-cut or use a different shape punch – when you sand the edges, you will get rid of the excess anyway.
  • Have fun!

Mix & Match Monday

Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a great weekend.  Time to mix things up a bit on the Pebbles blog as some of our design team members show off their creative skills while mixing and matching products from several Pebbles collections.

First up, design team member Laura Vegas created this fun layout of her daughter Sarah in a fresh color palette including green, red, and black.  Here's what Laura had to say ... "I decided to mix up a little bit of each of the three newest Pebbles collections for this layout about my youngest daughter, Sarah. I love the bright colors in the Happy Go Lucky collection and the Ever After collection. By bringing in some black and white paper from the Mr & Mrs collection, it really lets those bright colors "pop" off the page. And using the silver letter stickers and the paper clips from the Mr & Mrs collection, ties in with the silver in the Happy Go Lucky epoxy brads."

Pebbles supplies used:
Happy Go Lucky Glad (751087)
Mr. & Mrs. Pinstripe (751101)
Ever After Fairy Tale (751104)
Happy Go Lucky Black ABC Stickers (32035)

Next up design team member Guiseppa Gubler created this happy layout using Happy Go Lucky and The Mr. & Mrs. collections.  Here's what Guiseppa had to say ... "I really love to mix collections of paper.  I am so in love with The Mr. & Mrs. and the Happy Go Lucky collections.  I wanted to mix the black patterns of The Mr. & Mrs. and bright pinks and greens of the Happy Go Lucky collection.  Combining these collections just made the layout pop and gave me the desired effect I was trying to create ... a very happy looking layout."

Design team member Christa Paustenbaugh shows an unexpected way to mix & match the Happy Go Lucky and Mr. & Mrs. collection together on this Halloween themed layout.  Here's what Christa had to say ... "While I wouldn't exactly match up and marry these two lines (pun intended!), when I pulled out this photo of my girls from Halloween I knew that it would be perfect!  Their costumes match the two lines perfectly and with just enough of each, it would be easy to be playful with the layout as well.  I removed the rhinestone brad from the center of the paper flower and replaced it with a Pebbles button and a solid color button.  To make the photo pop a little more I swiped the sides with orange paint and adhered it with foam adhesive.  I wasn't sure I would like how it turned out, but it has quickly become a favorite!"

More Spring Projects with Stephanie and Natalie plus a GIVEAWAY!

Design team member Stephanie Baxter created this heartfelt layout all about new beginnings.  Here's what Stephanie had to say ... “To me, spring is all about new life and new beginnings so I decided to follow the theme a bit more loosely and tell the story of this beautiful little munchkin (my friend’s daughter). When she was about a month old, the doctors discovered she had a hole in her heart and it was decided that she would have to undergo a massive operation, otherwise she would more than likely die. None of us were sure whether she would even make it through the surgery, let alone it be a success ... such a major operation on such a tiny baby was so risky. But with much prayer, this little angel recovered from her surgery very, very quickly indeed. I do believe she was given new life and a new beginning.”

More Spring Projects with Ria, Kryssi, and Jennifer

Design team member Ria Mojica created this gorgeous layout Here's what Ria had to say ... "We don't really have a "Spring" season in the Philippines - only wet and dry.  But we do get some good days when the weather is perfect and this was one of them. I loved playing with the Ever After line. This LO shows that you don't need a "princess" photo to use this collection as the colors are perfect for any Spring activity.  I also loved that the flower buttons come in three sizes and colors which can be stacked to create different flowers!"

I needed it to be a part of my small but steadily growing layout collection. I snapped this photo of my daughter as we were walking to school in the rain. I can't wait to create the "May Flowers" half of this layout using the same line... as soon as it stops raining!"

More Spring Projects with Suzanne, Lisa, and Deena

Design team member Suzanne Sergi creates such cute mini albums and this strawberry shaped mini (how ADORABLE!) is no exception!  Here's what Suzanne had to say ... "I was  inspired by the colors in the Happy Go collection to create this sweet mini album. Once I saw the bold, and vibrant color palette, I knew this line would be perfect for documenting older snapshots of my daughter's visit to the strawberry patch. The greens, reds, and subtle pinks reminded me of strawberries, perfect for a spring project.  One of my favorite embellishments were the dimensional stickers. Sweet birds, butterflies, and whimsical flowers are the foundation for this collection. The papers are bright and full of color! A color palette that can be found regularly in my papercrafts.  Twitterpated has been my all time favorite Pebbles collection, but now Happy Go Lucky is taking center stage! I cannot wait to see what is next!"

Design team member Lisa Kisch created this lovely springtime layout using a combination of Ever After and Happy Go Lucky.  Here's what Lisa had to say ... "It has been a long winter in Toronto - there are times it feels as though it isn't over yet - but we are squeezing every last drop of springtime fun out of the few sunny days we've had. Heck, even the rainy days feel springy when you've been buried under piles of snow for the better part of 5 months! A few days ago I took some photos of Audrey coming home from school in her rain coat and rain boots. I took them using my phone, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well they printed. (Here's a tip: Use a noise reducing software to clear up the grain that can appear on phone photos.) I chose a bright background, and some "Ever After" and "Happy Go Lucky" to show how we are waiting, waiting, waiting for those springtime flowers to arrive!"

Design team member Deena Wuest created this fun springtime decor piece perfect for welcoming this beautiful season.  Here's what Deena had to say ... "Nothing says "spring" like flowers and new hope! So I combined them both to create this seasonal art that can be displayed on a stand or in a frame. I positioned my letter stickers to create "stems" for the fabulous felt flowers in the Happy Go Lucky collection. Then I took a scissors to the Ever After leafy green patterned paper and created two rows of grass to ground the flowers. (Be sure to curl the blades of grass for added dimension!) After the season turns to summer (and after I snap some great springtime photos of the kids) this will become page one of a two page layout that will go into the scrapbook album. "

Design team member Kristen Swain created this adorable piece of springtime decor.  Here's what Kristen had to say ... "What is more spring then sweet soft colors and cute little birds. I decorated the outside of the frame first, then I removed the insert and added more decor to that, for a shadow box look. I hand cut my felt, but you could do that with a diecut machine or deco scissors. I love that the Pebbles Baby line coordinates so well with the Happy Go Lucky collection, I added some of the ribbon and letters to my frame. However, there was no issue with thinking Spring when I opened the new Happy Go Lucky collection and spied all the gorgeous spring colours and patterns. I instantly took a shine to the sweetest crepe paper flowers and knew they had to feature prominently on my next project and so set to task working a design around them. The photo is my daughter and her bff - best friend forever, they've been inseparable ever since they started school together and still remain joined at the hip and their smiles were perfect for the Happy Go Lucky Spring theme!"

First up is design team member Sarah Webb who created this sweet springtime decor piece.  Here's what Sarah had to say ... "I knew as soon as I saw my assignment, that I needed to create something that could be used on a front door or a little table just inside the front door. I picked up this frame at a local craft supply place, thinking that it would be easy to add some eye screws in the top if I decided to hang it off the front door. Sketchy Thursday

For today's edition of "Sketchy Thursday" I asked some of our design team members to create a project based on this fabulous sketch by Becky Fleck.

Design team member Stephanie Baxter created this gorgeous layout following Becky's sketch.  Here's what Stephanie had to say ... "I’ve been wanting to scrap these photos from a holiday a few years ago for so long now, but was feeling really uninspired because I just didn’t have any ideas how to use them. So when I was shown the sketch for my assignment on the blog here, I was so happy because I knew that these photos would fit perfectly. I stayed quite true to the original sketch, just replacing the 4x6 photos with 3x4s instead, and slightly adapting the placement of the embellishments. I used a bunch of Happy Go Lucky products on this layout, as the bright, summery colours match the colours in my photos perfectly.”

Pebbles supplies used:
Happy Go Lucky Cheery (751080)
Happy Go Lucky Carefree (751083)
Happy Go Lucky Splendid (751081)
Happy Go Lucky Thrilled (751088)

Happy Go Lucky Paper Flowers (747070)
Happy Go Lucky Layered Embellishments (747073)
Happy Go Lucky Toothpick Flags (747067)
Ever After Icons Dimensional Stickers (732049)
Ever After Clear Stamps (747104)
Ocean Life Layered Embellishments (747053)

Other supplies used:

Cardstock (American Crafts)
Thickers (American Crafts)

Design team member Savitri Wilder was inspired to create this beautiful layout of her sweet little one.  Here's what Savitri had to say ... "I have two little princesses in my life and today I want to share with you my youngest. Like all toddlers, she's in awe with everything. Like all moms, I think she's the most beautiful little baby girl. When I saw the sketch for today's post I immediately thought of these photos. The sketch was so fun that the page didn't take very long to come together (it took me longer deciding which pretty paper to use!!). Although most everything came from the Ever After line, the small pop of black and white from the Mr. & Mrs. line made the butterflies really stand out. I totally adore the buttons that Pebbles created for the Ever After line. Cute flower buttons don't come around everyday you know :). Oh, here's a little tip: Don't throw away the small strip of paper that's under each pattern paper. You know, where the Pebbles' brand and paper name's at. After you trim this piece, use it as is or like me make it prettier using a border punch."

Pebbles supplies used:

Ever After Princess Tiara Paper (751105)
Ever After Raspberry ABC Sticker (732045)

Whip It Up Wednesday

For today's post I challenged some of our design team members to "whip up" a project using Pebbles products in 30 minutes or less. Check out these fabulous projects that can be created in no time at all!

Design team member Lisa Kisch has seriously outdone herself with this week's theme by creating not one but two layouts and sharing some of her tips and tricks for getting things done in a jiffy.  Here's what Lisa had to say ... "We all live busy lives, so finding ways to whip up a page when we have a window of scrap time is really important. For me, I stick to a few rules when I am scrapping in a hurry: 1) I use 4X6 photos - preferably ones that I already have on hand; 2) I pull three sheets of paper from the same collection so that I know they will all go together - one stripe, one small pattern, and one large pattern; 3) I try to pull a few embellishments that I can easily repeat in triangles around my layout; 4) I hand journal. I love printed journaling, of course, but handwriting is quick and personal. I know my kids will love seeing my handwriting on my layouts someday!"

And here are Lisa's principles in action ... "My three 4X6 photos fit perfectly on this double 8 1/2 x 11 layout. I love putting photos a little off kilter - to me it feels like they were just tossed onto the layout, and I love that. I used three patterned papers, and as a bonus I punched the contrasting strip at the bottom of the pink tartan to add a built in border. For embellishments, I used a circle theme: buttons, candy dots, circular paper clips, and a large circle felt sticker, and then I scattered them around the layout, using the intersecting white lines as a guide. Finally, I hand journaled on a piece of japanese washi tape to tell the tale of Lily starting pre-school this week - or as she calls it, 'pee-school'."

Pebbles supplies used:
Ever After Little Princess (751107)
Ever After Blushing Princess (751114)
Ever After Sparkle (751113)
Ever After Jewel Flowers (747098)
Ever After Buttons (747097)
Mr. and Mrs. Border Stickers (732041)
Spiral Paper Clips (747092)
Baby Pink Glitter Candy Dots (744213)

Other supplies used:
Cardstock (American Crafts)
Stickers (American Crafts)
Mist (Studio Calico)
Punch (Stampin' Up)

Lisa also created a second layout using scraps from her first.  Here's what Lisa had to say ... "I made an even quicker layout from the scraps! This seriously took about 8 minutes start to finish. I grabbed a very old photo, from my bridal shower 8 years ago, and used the paper scraps and embellishment packs I already had open to throw this together. I think this is a great way to scrap older photos of yourself, because if you're anything like me, they are the last on the priority list to be scrapped!"

Other supplies used:

Design team member Kim Kesti created this adorable princess layout in no time at all!  Here's what Kim had to say ... "Although this layout looks like it might have taken awhile, by using a simple blocking method it was really easy to create. I started by adhering my two photos, and then simply trimmed blocks of patterned paper to fill in the blanks. By using both sides of the patterned paper, a lot of my blocks were already close to the correct size. Then, I stitched down several of the larger seams. Look closer, I didn’t actually stitch every seam either, and you can’t even tell at first glance. A few layered embellishments and this page was in the album. Sweet!"

Design team member Anna Sigga created this adorably sweet layout in under 30 minutes!  Here's what Anna had to say ... "I really love the bright colors in the Happy Go Lucky collection and the varnish papers are my fave. These papers remind me of fun times and childhood play so I though this collection would be perfect for my lil girls. These everyday pics of my two girls were just perfect with the collections. And by using black & white photos and keeping the design rather simple I was able to go a bit color-crazy. :D "

How To Tuesday

First things first, I have a winner to announce from last week's "The Mr. & Mrs." giveaway. Thank you all so much for your comments. And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information as well as your choice of Pebbles collection to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "The Mr. & Mrs. Winner" in the subject line.

Today's "How To" post is brought to you by the very talented Zoe Nemburt.  Zoe created this absolutely stunning background to her layout using the "bonus" strips from our patterned papers.  Here's what Zoe had to say ... "Did you know that all the paper collections Pebbles creates have a reverse side on the barcode strip with an awesome complimentary design? I have to say I love them the possibilities are endless but today I want to show how to use them as a background element."  And here are Zoe's step by step instructions ...

First, I used my trimmer to cut off all the strips. I used 2 sheets of each paper to have this many strips, I then sorted the strips into 2 sets with 1 of each strip in each set.

Next, I just laid them down in alternating colours.  You don’t want to have all the black strips and cream strips next to each other so spread the colours evenly.

Next, I began to weave in the other set of strips again remember to alternate between colours and also with each new row you weave into the opposite strips than the row above.

I just adhered a piece of scrap cardstock to the back to help keep the strips in place, I only glued the first two rows of strips.

Just keep adding your strips until you have a finished piece.

Like this!!! Use the same technique as in Picture no. 4 adding a strip of cardstock to the last couple of rows just to make it secure both ends. You can trim off the edges at different lengths or you can keep them even for a more uniform look it’s completely up to you, you could even sew it onto your project.

Here is my finished layout with the background added in.

Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a great weekend.  Time to mix things up a bit on the Pebbles blog as some of our design team members show off their creative skills while mixing and matching products from several Pebbles collections.

I had a lot of fun mixing up the Happy Go Lucky Line with Ever After (plus a sheet of Mr. & Mrs.) for this layout.
