Sketchy Thursday

For today's edition of "Sketchy Thursday" I asked some of our design team members to create a project based on this fabulous sketch by Becky Fleck.

Design team member Lady Grace Belarmino used the Happy Go Lucky collection on this perfectly playful layout.  Here's what LG had to say ... "I love sketches because they make scrapping easier especially for scrapbookers who work full time like me. Here, I rotated the sketch 90 degrees clockwise. I have used the Happy Go Lucky collection since it is perfect for this recent photo of my daughter taken in a toy store."

Pebbles supplies used:
Happy Go Lucky Splendid (751081)
Happy Go Lucky Cheery Varnish (751080)
Happy Go Lucky Glee Varnish (751082)
Happy Go Lucky Glad Varnish (751087)
Happy Go Lucky Stickers – Embossed (732036)
Happy Go Lucky Buttons (747069)
Happy Go Lucky Chipboard Flowers (747071)
Chalk Cream Brights (742125)
Cat Chalk Stencils (742097)

Other supplies used:
Cardstock

Design team member Suzanne Sergi created this stunning layout of her pretty little princess using lots of Ever After and Floral Lane goodies.  Here's what Suzanne had to say ... "Sometimes, it is so nice to have a sketch in front of you. The design has already been determined, so all I had to do was pull these photos of my sweet little girl.  Next, I selected some of my favorite Pebbles paper, Ever After, and Floral Lane. I do try to stay as close to the sketch as possible. On my page, because white was my background, I decided to pull in another patterned paper. I did layer it across the entire 12x12 cardstock. I do love white space, but needed a colorful background, to anchor my bold embellishments.  I did size my photos a little bigger, so they would balance my page. I did make another change, by moving my journaling to the left of my page.  I love mixing pattern paper, so I loved the border strips on the sketch. Here, I layered a border sticker, patterned paper, and use the back of a barcode strip. A few scattered buttons, and embossing gave my page added texture."

Pebbles supplies used:
Ever After Magical (751112)
Ever After Buttons (747097)
Ever After Epoxy Embellishments (747095)
Ever After Phrases Dimensional Stickers (732047)
Ever After Border Stickers (732048)
Floral Lane A little Hello (751118)
Floral Lane You're Sweet (751121)
Floral Lane Icon Stickers (732D56)
Mr. & Mrs. Spiral Paper Clips (747092)
Mr. & Mrs.  Straight Pins (747086)

Other supplies used:
Cardstock (American Crafts)
Embroidery Floss

Design team member Wendy Sue Anderson created this fun layout using our new Floral lane collection.  Here's what Wendy Sue had to say ... "After taking a short hiatus from the creative part of my life, I am ready to dig back in and get going again.  I have to say – this assignment was the perfect way to ease back into scrapbooking … I had brand new, super cute product to work with (the new Floral Lane line) AND a great sketch to use as a starting point!  These photos are of my kids at a climbing wall earlier this year.  I thought the “b” sides of these fun papers worked well for a gender-neutral layout … with a few flowers thrown in for good measure!"

Dear Pebbles

Good morning everyone!  Today we are featuring cards created by some of our design team members using their favorite Pebbles products.

First up, I (Lynn Ghahary) created a trio cards using our newest release Floral Lane.  The colors and patterns in this collection are just gorgeous.  And the paper has a linen texture which is just so much fun!

Pebbles supplies used:
Floral Lane Warm Thoughts (751117)
Floral Lane A Little Hello (751118)
Floral Lane Memory Lane (751119)
Floral Lane With Love (751122)
Floral Lane My Darling (751126)
Floral Lane Icon Stickers (732056)
Floral Lane Phrase Stickers (732054)

Other supplies used:
Cardstock (American Crafts)
Ribbon (American Crafts)
Bakers's Twine (Divine Twine)
Buttons (Basic Grey)
Floss (DMC)
Rub On (Melissa Frances)
Punches (EK Success, Stampin' Up!)

Design team member Sarah Webb used the Mr. & Mrs. collection to create these elegant cards.  Here's what Sarah had to say ... "I haven't had the chance to play with the Mr. & Mrs. line and with wedding season upon us, I thought it would be a great chance to create some cards for some special occasions. The colours are wonderful and I love the classy look of the pale yellow and grays."

Pebbles supplies used:
Mr. & Mrs. Tulle (751093)
Mr. & Mrs. Wedding Day (751095)
Mr. & Mrs. Silver Lace (751098)

Other supplies used:
Cardstock (American Crafts)

Embossing Folder (Sizzix)
Ink (Ranger)

Design team member Melinda Spinks used our Layered Embellishments in a really fun and fresh way on this adorable set of cards.  Here's what Melinda had to say ... "Cards are something that really stretch me at times because they are small little pieces of artwork that need so much attention to get everything perfect in a limited amount of space. I really wanted to take on the 'less is more' approach and create a card with lots of white space that attracted the attention to one focal point being the super cute new Layered Embellishments. I used the white stitching on the white background to create a little scene without detracting from the embellishment, and by adding a hint of chalk it created just a touch of dimension."

Pebbles supplies used:
Baby Boy Layered Embellishments (747012)
Home Sweet Home Layered Embellishments (747040)
Classic Chalks Pastel Shades (42002)
Classic Chalks Earth Tone Shades (42003)

Other supplies used:

How To Tuesday

First things first, I have a winner to announce from last week's "Guest Designer" giveaway. Thank you all so much for your comments. And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information (including your phone number for shipping purposes) as well as your choice of current Pebbles collection to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Guest Designer Winner" in the subject line.

Design team member Mimi Leinbach shares a fun technique today for using those adorable Pebbles stamps with acrylic!  Here's what Mimi had to say ... "Pebbles has such awesome pre-made embellishments - that is one of the things that puts them head and shoulders above other companies - but sometimes you just want to get your hands dirty! Here is a simple and fun technique that just may fill that bill!"

First, gather the products you will need.

Next stamp your image on an acrylic inchie - some drying time may be needed.  I also edged each inchie with ink to create a framed look.

Repeat this process on several inchies and embellish with Stickles.  Here are a few examples ...

Finally, embellish your layout with the decorated inchies.

This is a super simple technique that really adds a unique and creative flair to your art. A little bit of ink on the edge of each tile added a frame to each piece which flowed well with the grid design of my layout! And if you didn't notice ... the Floral Lane release is textured like cardstock - can I say brilliant?! LOVE IT!!!

Theme: Summer Fun

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful Father's Day weekend!  With the "official" first day of summer tomorrow it seems only fitting that our theme this week is "Summer Fun."  I've asked some of our Pebbles design team members to create projects all about how they have fun in the summer!

Design team member Stephanie Baxter created this gorgeous layout using lots of goodies from our new Floral Lane collection.  Here's what Stephanie had to say ... "I absolutely love summer ... the smell of suncream and freshly cut grass, the long and sunny days, the BBQs, trips to the beach, sunbathing in the back garden, wearing flip-flops everyday - it’s just the best! So, as you can imagine, I was thrilled when I got my assignment for this week’s blog theme. Not only did I incorporate summer as the subject of my layout, I also tried to bring a bit of summer into the colour scheme that I used. The Floral Lane collection is particularly good for that - the colour palette just screams “SUMMER!” to me! I mixed a bit of Happy Go Lucky and Ever After as well, and decided on a yellow title to give the ultimate summery feel to my page.”

Guest Designer: Amy Heller plus a GIVEAWAY!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to introduce you to this week's Guest Designer Amy Heller.  Let's get to know Amy a little better ...

Describe yourself in 3 words ... Driven, Creative, Loving.

My guilty pleasure is ... I have several, but these are my favorites: my sweet tooth craves dark chocolate covered dried strawberries; I'm a reality talent-based tv show junkie - faves are American Idol, Project Runway, Top Chef; but probably my most guilt pleasure is the I am a Twi-hard! I am on Team Edward, and my husband is fully aware the he's the second man in my life next to Edward! :)

You'll never find me without ... having had a Starbucks Iced Latte or two in the morning, or wearing flip-flops when the weather's nice. I'm a casual girl! ;)

You might be surprised to know I ... have to wear a nite guard at night to prevent myself from grinding my teeth down to stubs.  I've ground through 2 dentist-made guards already and am on my third now! LOL

My least favorite chore is ... dusting! I have dust allergies so that task is less than desirable for me! ;)

I started scrapbooking in ... 2004, but it became a true hobby/passion in 2008.

My favorite thing about this hobby is ... that I am leaving a legacy for my children with my personal  touch and love poured into every page.

If I were a Pebbles product I would be ... the Layered Embellishments! Completely adorable and they add so much fun to a page!

Amy created so many amazing projects for us including this stunning layout about her daughter.  Here's what Amy had to say ... "I knew when I saw this lovely black and white paper in The Mr. & Mrs. collection that I would use a theme of the "black and white" thoughts of my kids as my inspiration. I've had this reflective photo of my daughter for over a year and have loved it but never knew what to do with it until now. My husband was discussing something with my then 7 year old, and I could just see how contemplative she was about about the discussion. She was learning a lesson in the grey areas, or rather the colorful aspects of life. I decided to create layered flowers out of the beautiful black and white patterned papers, then use the gorgeous array of colorful cardstock I received to bring the "life" to my layout by cutting out lively butterflies to symbolize all the shades/shapes that are the in-between the black and white poles of her thoughts."

Here's what Amy had to say about her next project ... "Recently I was able to capture these fun photos of my daughter blowing bubbles outside on a late spring day. They were the perfect images to use with the papers in the Happy Go Lucky collection. I just love the fresh colors in this collection! Right up my alley, for sure! I decided to reinforce the idea of the bubbles by punching out many, many circles in varying sizes then placing them randomly around the page, and stitching them where the light would be reflecting off them in the photos if they were real. For the borders at the bottom, I used the adorable extra stops of paper on the opposite sides of the UPC codes. They added the perfect touch!"

This next layout is just too adorable for words and I love those photos!  Here's what Amy had to say ... "Over the last couple of years my daughter has increasingly become more and more "girly". She never was interested in princesses or dolls as a little one-her obsession has always been animals. Well, times they are a changin' and she's wanting bling, color, and vibrance with everything she wears and surrounds herself with. As you can see from these photos, even when she's at the beach she's decked out in zebra stripes, and hot pink goggles and net ... catching jellyfish! For this layout the papers and embellishments from Ever After and Happy Go Lucky were perfect. Blues for the sea and pinks for my Princess Jellyfish!"

For her final project Amy created this adorable "hugs" card.  Here's what Amy had to say ... "I love making cards. I never knew I loved making cards until I discovered card challenge blogs in 2009. That's when decided to start my blog and stretch my skills into card making as a way to expand my love of scrapbooking into something I could give away to others. The fun, fresh colors and designs in the Ever After collection are ideal for card making as well as scrapbooking. When I made this card I thought it could easily be taken into the direction of Valentines Day, but with the addition of the green it really makes for an ideal anytime card as well, because hugs are great year-round! ;)"

Thank you so much Amy for creating so many amazing projects with Pebbles!  And now for a GIVEAWAY!  To enter simply leave a comment on this blog post telling us which of Amy's projects was your favorite (I know, I know ... it's hard to pick just one!).  One lucky winner will be chosen at random to win a prize pack full of Pebbles goodies.  Submit your comments by Monday at midnight (EST).  I'll announce the winner Tuesday morning.  Good luck!

More Father's Day Projects with Guiseppa, Lisa, and Zoe

Design team member Guiseppa Gubler created this masculine Father's Day card using The Mr. & Mrs. collection.  Here's what Guiseppa had to say ... "I really struggle when making masculine projects.  I usually want to throw a flower or two on them.  I guess it is in my girly nature to pretty things up.  So, when I got the assignment "Father's Day" I had to think about what I was going to do to make my project look masculine.  Then of course I thought ... The Mr. & Mrs. collection is perfect!  I created this cut banner using my die cutting machine and added the Gray Stars Layered Embellishments.  In combination with the blacks, whites, grays and creams of the Mr. & Mrs. collection, this card turned out masculine ... just what I wanted.  Now I have a card that is perfect for my dear Dad."

"This assignment was a great excuse for me to scrap thoughts about my hubby as a dad - hence my title! The photo was taken a few weeks ago. I was taking a few shots of the girls and just turned my camera and snapped a few of my guy. I caught him totally unaware. Hee hee! For the design I knew I wanted to keep it simple and a little rough around the edges. I took strips of patterned paper and folded them in a haphazard fashion, then stitched them on my sewing machine. They made a great home for some simple strips of journaling. Most of the product here in from the Cats and Dogs line - I just won't tell my husband that! ;)"

Theme: Father's Day

Hi everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  This week on the Pebbles blog we will be celebrating Father's Day all week long with inspirational projects from some of our design team members.

Design team member Kim Kesti created this adorable card.  I love how she thought out of the box and used the Sprial Paper Clips and Candy Dots to represent planets.  Here's what Kim had to say ... “Here a cute idea: ask your child for a quote or an idea for your card’s sentiment. My son Harrison dictated what I should write on this card we made for Father’s Day. I thought the clips and candy dots looked a bit space-like and obviously Harrison did, too!”

Free For All Friday

Happy Friday everyone! We are wrapping up the week with a few "free for all" projects from some of our design team members.

Design team member Kryssi Ng created this adorable layout using the Happy Go Lucky collection.  Here's what Kryssi had to say ... "I just can't seem to get enough of Happy Go Lucky. I think if I had to work with only one line my entire life, this would definitely be it. I love how fun and cheerful the color palette is and pretty much works with any photo I'd want to scrap. It just screams HAPPY in every way, which is great because who creates sad layouts anyway?"

Design team member Suzanne Sergi created this AMAZING mini album using our newest release Floral Lane.  Here's what Suzanne had to say ... "As soon as I saw the Floral Lane collection, I immediately wanted to create a mini album of my sweet little girl. This line has such a beautiful, and soft color palette! It is perfect for spring photos, or documenting your "girl!" My parents live out of state so I knew this mini would be a perfect keepsake for them. For my project, I created a chipboard 5x7 mini album simply layered with the assorted patterned papers from Floral Lane. The flower designs are gorgeous, that I had a difficult time deciding which papers to use! This book is all about my girl, so I added flower stickers from the Pebbles collections, stick pins from the Mr. & Mrs. collection, and even pulled in some of my Pebbles Chips from my stash! I wanted this book to have a delicate feel, so I added in bits of vellum throughout the mini! I also love adding tags, and envelopes throughout. They are perfect to include special journaling, or document things loved. I almost forgot how perfect the 3x3 brown envelopes are for projects like this! I am a big fan of stamping, and added inking detail, too."

"I often have a hard time with thinking of ways to use ribbon on scrapbook pages other than wrapping it round things and tying it into a bow! So when I saw my assignment for today’s blog post, I knew I’d have to get a bit more creative. I wanted to use several different ribbons to showcase all that Pebbles has to offer in the way of ribbon (they are all so pretty!) so I decided that I would have to use little snippets of different ones. It was only when a few of those snippets fell under the piece of paper that had my title on it that I suddenly discovered how fun it would look to have them all lined up in a row under my title to make them into a focal point for my layout. I love it when those happy little accidents happen when you’re creating, don’t you?”

Whip It Up Wednesday

Does the end of school frenzy have you short on creative time?  If so then you'll love today's post. I challenged some of our design team members to whip up up a project in 30 minutes or less.  Here's what they came up with ...

Design team member Deena Wuest always creates the most adorable gifts and this one is no exception.  Here's what Deena had to say ... "Limited on time? You can actually make a special handmade gift faster than you can pick one up at the store! All you need is 30 minutes and few Pebbles staples. For this shaker box I just used paper, a cardstock sticker, and a piece of ribbon. That's it! It came together in a snap and is tons more personal than any store-bought trinket."

Pebbles supplies used:

Design team member Natalie Dever created an adorable set of cards featuring the Happy Go Lucky collection.  Here's what Natalie had to say ... "Making cards is super easy with Pebbles amazing double sided patterned papers and fun Dimensional Stickers.  I made both of these cards in under a half an hour.  I started by cutting a green layer slightly smaller than the card front. Made two tags out of the pink paper and decorated them with scraps of papers.  I added the letters and stickers for the sentiment and decoration. Super easy and super cute!"

Design team member Ria Mojica shares a fun way to customize some of your Pebbles embellishments.  Here's what Ria had to say ... "You don't need to be stuck with theme embellishments as it's easy to alter these to match your layout.  The pearl stick pins and spiral wire clips from The Mr. & Mrs. collection are wonderful as they are but I wanted my embellishments to be as colorful as the Floral Lane collection I used in my layout."

Glossy surfaces are a cinch to color using alcohol inks like that found in Copic markers.

Simply choose your preferred color and re-color the areas you want to liven up

Let dry and you will have fun and colorful embellishments to match any LO! For am even fancier pearl stick pin, you may add beads or bling with a dab of dries-clear glue below the pearl.

Mix & Match Monday

Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a great weekend.  Time to mix things up a bit on the Pebbles blog as some of our design team members show off their creative skills while mixing and matching products from several Pebbles collections.

Design team member Eva Pizarro created this fun birthday themed layout using lots of Pebbles collections including our new mid-release Floral Lane.  Here's what Eva had to say ... "I love to mix Pebbles' collections, on this layout I used the Ever After, Happy Go Lucky and Pebbles' newest line Floral Lane. Design team member Lisa Kisch created this fun layout using several different Pebbles collections.  Here's what Lisa had to say ... "When it comes to mixing and matching lines, I go for a neutral background. In this case, I cut down a JCrew paper bag down to size for a double 8.5X11 layout, keeping in mind the placement of the word "JCrew" for my title. I was also working with an eclectic group of photos which allowed me to pick out different patterns and colours as matting to highlight each of the photos individually. I was able to work in product from Happy Go Lucky, Mr. & Mrs., Cats and Dogs, Ever After, and New Addition Girl."

Guest Designer: Jana Eubank plus a GIVEAWAY!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to introduce you to this week's Guest Designer Jana Eubank.  Let's get to know Jana a little better ...

Describe yourself in 3 words ... Creative, Homebody, Procrastinator.

My guilty pleasure is ... having my husband bring me home a giant fountain Diet Coke (with lime) and a chocolate bar from the gas station on his way home from work.

You'll never find me without ... my wedding ring. I feel unsettled and incomplete if I don't have it on. I also have a slight obsession with my iPhone. I love that I can check my email from practically anywhere!

You might be surprised to know that I ... never officially dated my husband. We were good friends in high school. Wrote letters to each other while he was living away from home for two years, and then got engaged two weeks after he returned home. I knew I had a good thing when I found it! We will celebrate our 15th Wedding Anniversary this coming January.

My least favorite chore is ... Laundry . . . it is never-ending! Sigh!

I started scrapbooking in ... high school when my mom came back from a home party and showed me what she had made. I was in a Photography class at the time and I thought it would be really fun to combine the two together. I became more seroius about it as I married my husband and was determined to record our family story from the very beginning. I treasure our family scrapbooks. I have a terrible memory and so I am grateful to enjoy a hobby that helps me remember our special times together while expressing myself creatively.

My favorite thing about this hobby is ... being constantly amazed and inspired by what crafters around me are creating. What a treat to have the opportunity to interract with such innovative, creative souls!

If I were a Pebbles product I would be ... Pebbles Patterned Paper. Colorful, happy, and spunky one minute, subtle and relaxed the next.

Jana created so many amazing projects for us including this adorable layout about her daughter's school pajama party.  Here's what Jana had to say ... "We have had an unusually wet Spring this year. Normally, my daughter's preschool class celebrates the end of the year with a Water Party, but because of the bad weather they had to change it to a Pajama Party instead. It didn't matter to my daughter she was excited as could be and spent two days picking out just the right pair of pajamas to wear to school. The "Sparkle" star paper of the Enchanted Collection was my jumping off point for this page. I repeated the star shape with punched accents around my page. The stars combined with a fluffy white cloud was the perfect way to enhance the Pajama Party theme I wanted to convey."

Punches (Stampin' Up!)
Miscellaneous (Floss, Button, Tag, Pen, Ink)

Here's what Jana had to say about her next project ... "We have a bit of a technology obsession here in my family. My husband and I are attached to our iPhones while our kids like to bring their Nintendo DS game devices with them as we run errands in the car. On this particular day, I had to giggle at my girls when I peered into the family room and found all three of them immersed in their separate games. The castle embellishment from the Enchanted collection reminded me of the princess-y types of games that my girls like to play and enhanced these photos perfectly."

This next layout made me smile as I have one little boy who is love with his own fluffy Pillow Pet and would love to be invited to this party! LOL  Here's what Jana had to say ... "What better way to spend your day when you are a preschooler than hanging out with your Pillow Pet friends?! While her siblings are away at school during the day she gathers everyone's pillow pets from around the house and throws, what she calls, "Pillow Pet Parties." I used my Cricut Expression machine to recreate her fluffy friends. I love the way the Pebbles Felt Layered Embellishments repeat their cuddly texture on the page. And just like the Pebbles Dimensional Sticker states, when you're four-years-old 'Life is Good!'"

Other supplies used:

And finally Jana created this amazing layout about her daughter's quest for the (student) presidency!  Here's what Jana had to say ... "My daughter recently ran for student office and she used the movie "Up" as her campaign theme. I thought it would be fun to recreate the feeling of the movie on this scrapbook page by using the Cloud Nine paper from the Happy Go Lucky collection. I also decided to create a bouquet of balloons using my Cricut Expression machine and the cheery colors of the collection as a page accent. The vibe matches my daughter's spunky personality perfectly and really helped me to pull this memory together on this layout. Good news! My daughter won and will be serving as 8th Grade President next year. We are so proud of her!"

Sketchy Thursday

For today's edition of "Sketchy Thursday" I asked some of our design team members to create a project based on this fabulous sketch by Becky Fleck.

Design team member Guiseppa Gubler created this "happy" layout.  Here's what Guiseppa had to say ... "I took these pictures of my nephew a few years back at our family reunion.  This is Caleb and he is Autistic.  Caleb lives a very carefree life, he has no worries or cares in the world, but Caleb loves to be free to explore.  Even though we often don't know what he is thinking, it is unmistakable that when he
gets outdoors ... he is happy and free.  Most of us would complain when we accidentally dirty our favorite shirt or pair of jeans, but Caleb loves it.  This makes him happy.  This was a really fun sketch to use and in combination with the yummy Pebbles products, I was able to make a happy layout for a happy camper!"
