Dear Pebbles

Good morning everyone!  Today we are featuring cards created by some of our design team members using their favorite Pebbles products.

Design team member Anna Sigga created two cards using the same basic design - makes creating cards quickly easy and fun!  Here's what Anna had to say ... "I decided to focus on one design for two cards but with a completely different theme for each one. Pebbles sure knows how to create a collection for girls and weddings."

Pebbles supplies used:
The Mr. & Mrs. Tulle  (751093)
The Mr. & Mrs. Silver Lace (751098)
The Mr. & Mrs. Wedding Dress (751094)
The Mr. & Mrs. Acrylic Stamps (747091)
Ever After Magical (751112)

Ever After Fairy Tale (751104)
Ever After Layered Embellishments (747099)

Other supplies used:
Cardstock (American Crafts)
Dies (Papertrey Ink)
Ink (Ranger)

Design team member Eva Pizarro created this card using a fun paper ruffling technique.  Here's what Eva had to say ... "Last week I did lots of ruffles for a DIY project I was working on and that inspired me to try and do some ruffles with my paper. To do them simply soak the paper in water for 30-40 seconds and start sewing! Push the paper under the foot on your sewing machine to create the ruffle. Let dry or, I you cannot wait, use your embossing gun! Embellish your card with your favorite Pebbles embellishments!"

Pebbles supplies used:
Floral Lane A Little Hello (751118)
Floral Lane Memory Lane (751119)
Floral Lane Floral Lane (751122)
Floral Lane Smile Everyday  (751123)
Floral Lane With Delight (751124)
Floral Lane My Darling (751126)

How To Tuesday

First things first, I have a winner to announce from last week's "Guest Designer" giveaway. Thank you all so much for your comments. And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information (including your phone number for shipping purposes) to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Guest Designer Winner" in the subject line.

Design team member Samantha Sibbet shares a fun technique with us today to create your own chevron or zig zag design.  Here's what Samantha had to say ..."Everywhere I look these days I see fabulous chevron and zig zag patterns from sweet summer dresses to the coziest quilts.  I thought I would give it go with paper and make it into a "How To " while I was at it!"

First, cut your patterned paper into 3/4" x 12" strips.  Cut black cardstock into 1" x 12" strips.  Adhere the patterned paper down the middle of the black cardstock.

Before I made the two cuts in my strip as shown in the photo, I marked the strips at 4" and 4 1/2" inches.  I made a 45 degree angle cut between the 4" mark and 4 1/2" inch mark.  Repeat at the 8" mark.

After making the two cuts, I removed the center strip piece and made a v.

Before gluing my strips down to my cardstock base, I drew a vertical line with a pencil.  This is where I want my zig zag to meet.  I glued the left side down and made sure it was even with my pencil line, any stragglers were sliced off with a craft knife.

I matched up the other side of strips and erased my pencil line.

I put the edge of my lay out under a guillotine cutter and trimmed off any excess paper strips.

Now, there may be a much simpler way to do this, it was my first time!  If you try this technique, we would love to see what you do!  Thanks for joining me today.

Mix & Match Monday

Design team member Zoe Nemburt created this gorgeous layout about her daughter's love for horseback riding using both the Floral Lane and The Mr. & Mrs. collections.  Here's what Zoe had to say ... "My daughter started riding lessons last year, she absolutely loves it.  This big horse was called Thor and while he was stubborn Yasmin did a great job keeping him going! He was such a gentle giant though, the colours in the picture were intimidating so I loved the chance to mix up the collections."

I wanted a white background, with just a touch of pink to soften the card. The Happy Go Lucky line went perfectly with the pink dot paper from Ever After. I even pulled in some floral embellishments from the Floral Lane collection. The clouds are punched from cardstock, and layered with a cloud punched from vellum. Guest Designer: Marcy Penner and a GIVEAWAY!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to introduce you to this week's Guest Designer Marcy Penner.  Marcy was chosen as a guest designer after she posted to our Facebook Guest Designer search.  We loved her airy and light style and couldn't wait to see what she created with Pebbles products.  Let's get to know Marcy a little better ...

My guilty pleasure is … the show Supernatural.

You’ll never find me without … my watch.

You might be surprised to know that I … still have a baby tooth.

My least favorite chore is … cleaning the bathrooms.  I have boys.  'Nuff said.

I started scrapbooking in . . . 2002.

My favorite thing about this hobby is . . . combining my love of paper and photography.

If I were a Pebbles product I would be . . . fabric brads - practical but fun!

Marcy created so many amazing projects for us today including this one about the sweet wildflowers her sons like to pick for her.  Here's what Marcy had to say ... "I really love that my little guys still pick flowers for me.  To mimic the theme I worked with some flower embellishments and purples and pinks.  (I don't use those colors a lot when scrapbooking my boys!)  I created a little flower cluster and tied my photo with twine."

Pebbles supplies used:
Ever After Fairy Tale paper (751104)
Ever After Enchanted (751108)
Happy Go Lucky Cheery (751080)
Happy Go Lucky Splendid (751081)
Happy Go Lucky Dandy (751089)
Happy Go Lucky Carefree (751083)
Happy Go Lucky Jewel Flower Brads (747075)
Happy Bo Lucky Buttons (747069)
Happy Go Lucky Paper Flowers (747070)
Happy Go Lucky Chipboard Flowers (747071)

Here's what Marcy had to say about her next project ... "Sometimes what happens is that I get going on my layouts and come really close to finishing and then realize that I forgot to include something I intended on from the beginning.  When I made this layout I wanted to use the little toothpick flags (which I love) ... but I wasn't sure where to use them!  In the end I trimmed them off their little wooden sticks and used them as banners along the top of my page instead."

Pebbles supplies used:
Happy Go Lucky Splendid (751081)
Happy Go Lucky Chirpy (751085)
Happy Go Lucky Thrilled (751088)
Happy Go Lucky Cloud Nine (751090)
Happy Go Lucky Cheery (751080)
Happy Go Lucky Toothpick Flags (747067)
Happy Go Lucky Epoxy Brads (747078)
Floral Lane Memory Lane (751119)

And for her final project Marcy created this adorable Anniversary card.  Here's what Marcy had to say ... "My parent's anniversary is coming up and I didn't know if I wanted to make a card or a tag.  So I did both.  I created the tag and attached it to the card with the fabric brad.  As the day approaches maybe I'll decide one way or another.  If I go with the tag I'll simply remove it from the card."

Pebbles supplies used:
Happy Go Lucky Splendid (751081)
Happy Go Lucky Fabric Brad (74077)
Floral Lane Dimensional Stickers (732056)

Thank you so much Marcy for creating so many amazing projects with Pebbles!  And now for a GIVEAWAY!  To enter simply leave a comment on this blog post telling us which of Marcy's projects was your favorite.  One lucky winner will be chosen at random to win a prize pack full of Pebbles goodies.  Submit your comments by Monday at midnight (EST).  I'll announce the winner Tuesday morning.  Good luck!

More Summer Projects with Christa, Deena, and Mimi

Design team member Christa Paustenbaugh used a grid design on this layout to showcase photos from her family's summer adventures.  Here's what Christa had to say ... "To say we had a summer packed with fun is a huge understatement!  We traveled all over the place to see family and enjoy some rest and relaxation.  I wanted to put several photos of the various places we had gone on the layout, so I cropped them to 2.5" x 2.5" and made a grid.  To make them stand out a bit from the bright Happy Go Lucky papers I used foam adhesive to give them a little oomph.  I added a few other embellishments that were bright and summery to me to go along with our happy summer and happy page!"

More Summer Projects with Ginger, Kim, and Lisa

Design team member Ginger Williams created this colorful layout to document how her boys entertained themselves this summer.  Here's what Ginger had to say ... "I was very excited when I got this topic for my assignment this week. We had a fabulous summer and did lots of fun things and went to a couple of very cool places. The hardest part of this assignment was picking just one thing to scrapbook. After sorting through lots of photos I decided I wanted to scrapbook one of our "boredom buster days." On these days we tried to find something unusual to do together at home. On this day we decided to make toys out of a package of red plastic cups. They become building blocks for castles, pyramids, forts, and a lot of fun and laughter that day! It was one of my favorite days this summer!"

Theme: What I Did This Summer

Do you remember when you were in grade school and the teacher asked you to write the typical "What I Did This Summer" essay?  Well we've decided to partake in this tried and true tradition - Pebbles style!  This week on the Pebbles blog our design team members will be sharing projects all about what they did this summer.  So sit back, relax, and be ready to be inspired while we see what some of our design team members have been up to!

Design team member Jennifer Yates created this fun layout to document her family's vacation to Destin, Florida.  I love how Jennifer created dimension and "faux" sand with glitter and snow tech!  Here's what Jennifer had to say ... "We had a wonderful time on our trip to Destin, Florida. I wanted to really give it a beachy feel to play off the photo.  With a variety of collections and my Cricut Expression I created a tropical scene to remember the great fun we had.  I also added a bit of glitter and snow tech to recreate the white sand beaches!"

Pebbles supplies used:

Happy Go Lucky Glitter Flower Brads (747076)

Design team member Anna Sigga documents her summer travels around Iceland on this stunning layout.  Here's what Anna had to say ... "We traveled a lot around Iceland this summer with family and friends and of course we experienced both sunny and rainy days. The girls had the time of their lives traveling from one town to another but Helga's fave pastime this summer was throwing stones in the ocean. She could have stayed there all day and when she saw a water she immediately asked us to help her find stones to throw in it."

Design team member Kristen Swain created a review layout using lots of photos and papers from the Floral Lane collection.  Here's what Kristen had to say ... "I love the soft colors of the Floral Lane collection, and if you didn't know, the textures of this collection of papers are divine, very linen like! I love adding a large block to my layout as a background, then layering under and over it to create depth and dimension to my layout. This time I added a white background, my patterned papers, then I added a white block over top of it all. It breaks up all the colors and patterns and lets the eye rest. Since my photos are pretty busy this is a good thing! I also fussy cut out small flowers from a patterned paper, more value for my money!  I even used part of the tear off strip ( Pebbles decorates the back of these) to add my green "leaves" to the flowers."

Guest Designer: Mel Blackburn

Hi everyone! I am so excited to introduce you to this week's Guest Designer Mel Blackburn.  Mel was chosen as a guest designer after she posted to our Facebook Guest Designer search and also happens to be a member of our new 2011 - 2012 Pebbles Design Team.  She was chosen as a guest designer before she applied to our Pebbles team so we get a little preview of what Mel has to offer this upcoming year with today's post.  Let's get to know Mel a little better ...

Describe yourself in 3 words … Sensitive, Creative, Shy.

My guilty pleasure is … sour candy, especially jujubes!!! I try to stay away from the candy aisle at the grocery store because if I happen to come across a container of sour jujubes you can be sure that they are coming home with me! ;)

You’ll never find me without … I love my silver necklace which has the first letters of daughter’s names along with their birthstones and a key charm. If I don’t have it on I feel like a little piece of me is missing.

You might be surprised to know that I … enjoy scuba diving. Although I’ve only done it a couple of times, I can’t wait to have the opportunity to do it again, this time I will make sure to take really good pictures so I can capture that activity on a layout.

My least favorite chore is … dusting! I just keeps on coming back!

I started scrapbooking in ... 2004, after the birth of my oldest daughter. I wanted to create an 8x8 family album for Danika and since I had no idea where to start I did an internet search. At which point I stumbled upon Two Peas, I was so impressed with the creativity that came out of scrapbooking. My passion started right then, and I’ve never looked back.

My favorite thing about this hobby is ... I enjoy the creative freedom scrapbooking provides me, the time to sit quietly while looking at pictures of my girls and choosing from beautiful products to accompany my pictures, in the end preserving memories for my girls is the most rewarding part of this hobby.

If I were a Pebbles product I would be ... this was tough, I have so many favorite products but I have to choose the felt layered embellishments. I love all the beautiful accents and colors of these embellishments, I also find they add warmth and dimension to layout or project, these items really make me smile!

Mel created so many amazing projects for us today including this one about her two girls.  Here's what Mel had to say ... "I love the whimsical theme of the Ever After collection; I knew it would be the perfect collection for this layout of my girls. The felt embellishments provided a soft touch and added dimension to this layout.  I especially love the Epoxy embellishment; it is such a cute quote, perfect for this layout."

Here's what Mel had to say about her next project ... "The teal paper was my inspiration for this layout. It was the perfect accent for these pictures of my oldest daughter. The pennant sticker border was also the ideal addition for a girly sport themed layout. The contrast of the white cardstock and soft pastel colors also created a nice balance."

Mel also created a few cards for us.  I just love how she used the Hot Air Balloon Layered Embellishment on this first card.  Here's what Mel had to say ... "As soon as I saw the felt embellishments I knew I had to create a fun card with them. I was happy that they perfectly matched the clouds from the Tree House collection. I think this would make a perfect graduation card."

And finally here's what Mel had to say about her last card ... "My inspiration for this card was the lovely phrase stickers from the Floral Lane collection; they coordinate beautifully with not only the Floral Lane papers but also the Ever After papers. I also love adding little embellishments to the flags, which is exactly what I’ve done on this card, it adds a personalized touched to this lovely embellishment."

Product Parade: Brads plus a GIVEAWAY!

Hey everyone!  Today we are focusing on one of my favorite Pebbles products ... Brads!  Pebbles Brads add the perfect pop of extra color, texture and depth to any project.  There are lots of cordinating styles to choose from including Epoxy, Glitter Flower, and Fabric.

Design team member Deena Wuest created this adorable card using Pebbles Brads as the center of attention.  Here's what Deena had to say ... "Short on time but love the sentiment behind handmade cards? Let the power of simplicity speak volumes by taking one or two items and using repetition to create a strong (and speedy) design. Apply Duplicate Rub Ons to uniform patterned paper blocks and tack them onto your card with fun Pebbles Brads. Curling the bottom of each paper block adds a
bit of dimension and creates an informal feel. Quick. Easy. Done!"

Design team member Kim Kesti created this fun and colorful layout using the Paper Flowers from the Happy Go Lucky collection (each has a rhinestone brad center) along with some Fabric Brads as well.  Here's what Kim had to say ... "I just adore the unique brads that Pebbles has, especially those in the Happy Go Lucky collection. I wanted to create an “artsy” vibe on my layout all about our visit to the Children’s Art Museum, so I let the pretty paper, fabric and glass-like brads take center stage. So much fun!”

Some of them are so pretty that I wanted to show them off. I simply hot glued the brads onto a plain headband or clip and voila! Whip It Up Wednesday

For today's post I challenged some of our design team members to "whip up" a project using Pebbles products in 30 minutes or less. Check out these fabulous projects that can be created in no time at all!

Design team member Stephanie Baxter created this beautiful layout in no time at all thanks to using an enlarged photo and keeping her design simple and straightforward.  Here's what Stephanie had to say ... "Using a large photo is a great way of getting a layout done in under 30 minutes because it means you have less of the page to work on! All you really need to finish the page off is to add some strips of patterned paper, a few embellishments, a bit of journaling and a title and then you’re done! Pebbles’ Dimensional Stickers are the perfect choice for a speedy project ... they don’t need any dressing up and already have dimensional adhesive on the back to add a bit of depth to your layout.”

Pebbles supplies used:
Ever After Sparkle (751113)
Ever After Princess Tiara (751105)
Happy Go Lucky Splendid (751081)
Ever After Icon Dimensional Stickers (732049)

Other supplies used:

Thickers (American Crafts)
Stickers (American Crafts)
Punch (EK Success)

Design team member Samantha Sibbet also created a layout in under 30 minutes by using a previously designed layout as inspiration.  With her design already chosen adding papers and photos was a snap!  Here's what Samantha had to say ... "I have to admit, layouts usually take me about an hour to complete.  For this challenge, I looked back at a few of my favorite layouts that I did a while ago and copied the design.  I knew I already liked it, so I just used new papers and embellishments and within thirty minutes I was done!  I think I will try this method again!"

Pebbles supplies used:
Happy Go Lucky Splendid (751081)
Happy Go Lucky Cheery (751080)
Happy Go Lucky Thrilled (751088)
Happy Go Lucky Emboseed Stickes (732036)
Happy Go Lucky Toothpick Flags (747067)
Happy Go Lucky ABC Stickers (732035)
Ever After Royal Banner (751115)
Ever After Magical (751112)
White Ribbon (44028)

Other supplies used:
Cardstock (American Crafts)

Design team member Lady Grace Belarmino created a pair of cards in just 30 minutes.  Here's what LG had to say ... "Quick projects are always a big challenge to me because I am a slow scrapbooker. I love taking my time conceptualizing and adding small details on each project. That is why you notice that every time I am assigned to create a 30 minute project, I always end up making a card. But this time I made 2 in 30mins! With the Floral Lane Collection, making cards is easy. Everything is almost ready to stick, it's just a matter of combining them together."

From leftover scraps you can punch a few circles from the Floral Lane paper line. Combine them together and the rainbow effect is beautiful. The banners were just freehand triangle cuts that I did from scraps as well.

Pebbles Supplies:
Floral Lane A Little Hello (751118)
Floral Lane With Delight (7511240
Floral Lane My Darling (751126)
Floral Lane Phrase (732054)
Floral Lane Button Candy Dots Pink (747114)
Floral Lane Button Candy Dots Aqua (747113)
Mr & Mrs Rings (751100)

Dimension also looks good on cards. Aside from just using your foam tapes on your layouts, use it on your cards as well to create depth and shadow.

Pebbles Supplies:
Floral Lane Memory Lane (751119)
Floral Lane Heartfelt (751127)
Floral Lane Just Because (751116)
Floral Lane Icon (732056)
Floral Lane Phrase (732054)

How To Tuesday

First things first, I have a winner to announce from last week's "Guest Designer" giveaway. Thank you all so much for your comments. And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information (including your phone number for shipping purposes) to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Guest Designer Winner" in the subject line.

Design team member Sarah Webb shares a fun technique with us today to create your own custom flower embellishments.  Here's what Sarah had to say ... "Hello! Sarah Webb here to share one of the techniques I like to use to create my own flowers. Some lines of paper don't come with their own flowers, but I think would look great as flowers.  I like to add a little stitching too, for extra detail. So, I pulled out the Floral Lane collection and played!" And here are Sarah's step by step instructions ...

First, gather up your paper, favorite border punch, and a flower punch or die.

Next, punch out 3 - 4 flowers. Pierce a hole in the middle of the flower and a hole towards the end of each petal of the flower.

Start by pushing the threaded embroidery needle up through the hole in the middle of the flower and push down the hole through the tip of the first petal.

Repeat until the embroidery floss extends from the middle to the tip of each petal.

Add a Candy Dot to the middle of the flower and round the petals to add a little dimension.

Add the flowers to your project.

I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial. For me, it's a great way to make sure the embellishments match the project perfectly! Cheers!

Mix & Match Monday

Design team member Mimi Leinbach created this beautiful layout using several different Pebbles collections about her childhood love - horse back riding!  Here's what Mimi had to say ... "I was a lucky girl growing up. I was able to ride horses everyday. Now my mom still has horses and my kids have the same opportunity I did to ride and enjoy these beautiful animals ... blessed we are! I loved every minute of my time riding. We had so many horses over the years each of them were so very different. The same can be said for Pebbles. I love all the lines ... even though some can be very different from one another. The great thing is even though they are so different to all work together. I have products in this layout from 5 different lines by Pebbles ... they all work together though, that is the beauty of it."

Design team member Wendy Sue Anderson documented a fun family past time on her layout by using patterned papers from several different Pebbles collections to match the colors in her photos.  Here's what Wendy had to say ... "I had a lot of fun mixing and matching papers for this layout.  I knew I needed blues, browns, and reds ... and I found just the right shades in the various collections.  My favorite thing is that each paper has a really subtle pattern that makes it unique, but at the same time it doesn't override any of the other papers.  I used a few small embellishments too, but on this layout, I wanted to just let the pictures be the focus. :)"

Guest Designer: Lexi Bridges and a GIVEAWAY!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to introduce you to this week's Guest Designer Lexi Bridges.  Lexi was chosen as a guest designer after she posted to our Facebook Guest Designer search.  We loved her style and couldn't wait to see what she created with Pebbles products.  Let's get to know Lexi a little better ...

Describe yourself in 3 words ... messy, friendly, eclectic.

My guilty pleasure ... chocolate. Or thrift store shopping. Combine the two and it's heavenly.

You'll never find me without ... something on my feet. It weirds me out to walk in my house barefoot. Maybe I should sweep more often?

You might be surprised to know that I ... wanted to be a marine biologist growing up ... in Missouri.

My least favorite chore is ... putting away laundry.

I started scrapbooking in ... an effort to "say I tried" for a family member wishing I would start.  Loved it! But I have only been "seriously" scrapping 3 years.

My favorite thing about this hobby is ... at least in my mind, there are no rules! If you create something that makes you happy, and tells the story for you to remember, how could that in any form be wrong? I love the freedom of play scrapbooking brings.

If I were a Pebbles product I would be ... Button Candy Dots. Geez Louise I love those things! So versatile I could use them on about every layout.  I really like the new white ones :)

Lexi created so many amazing projects for us today including this one about flowers at springtime.  Here's what Lexi had to say ... "I probably would have never used this bright green cardstock as the background for a layout, but I was scrapping our annual tradition of shopping for spring flowers at the first sign of warm weather..so I think it works! The Floral Lane stamps here are in such a classic font - I KNOW I will use them lots! I added some hole punches to the flower stickers and threaded them with string to create a little gathering on the side of the layout."

Pebbles supplies used:
Happy Go Lucky Glad Varnish (751087)
Happy Go Lucky Epoxy Brads (747078)

Floral Lane Button Candy Dots Pink (747114)

Other supplies used:

Cardstock (American Crafts)
Pen (American Crafts)
Eyelets (American Crafts)
Mist
String
Chipboard

Here's what Lexi had to say about her next project ... "My second born is a messy kid. And he LOVES ice cream. We go well together ;) I used my Silhouette die cut machine and some American Crafts kraft cardstock to create the circle grid here and had fun filling it with Pebbles paper, embellishments and even a tiny picture. I added some machine stitching randomly to some of the circles for some more interest. I love the ric rac pattern in the Thrilled patterned paper - reminds me of sprinkles!"

For her last project Lexi used machine stitching (our theme this week) to help emphasize the masked ampersand on the background of her layout - such a subtle but powerful detail!  Here's what Lexi had to say ... "This layout was a bit different from my usual ... less "stuff", but I really liked how it turned out. I masked the big ampersand and then to make it standout even more machine stitched around it. The punched circles reminded me of splashes, so I added those and embellished with some brads, which might be one of my favorite embellishments ever. I love the font choices in the Happy Go Lucky alphabet stickers and, bonus!, they can easily be sewn through as well. :)"

More "In Stitches" Projects with Zoe, Ria, and Savitri

Design team member Zoe Nemburt created a beautiful grid design utilizing machine stitching on her layout.  Here's what Zoe had to say ... "Stitching on my layouts and cards was one of the first techniques I learned when I started to scrapbook, I like to always find different stitching techniques, whether it’s just making a stitched border or making a paper quilt. For this layout I Machine stitched and I also hand stitched the buttons onto the punched Butterflies. I had a ton of fun making this layout."

Cardstock (American Crafts)
Thickers (American Crafts)
Stickers (My Little Shoebox)
Punches (Marvy Uchida, Martha Stewart)

Design team member Ria Mojica used a variety of stitching techniques on this fun and colorful layout.  Here's what Ria had to say ... "One of my favorite subjects in elementary school was Home Economics (I hope none of my classmates see this, though). I loved cooking and sewing, but somehow, despite having a sewing machine right beside me in my scraproom, have not gotten to be BFFs with it.  So when I want to add some some stitching to my LOs, I rely on my trusty running stitches ... they come out perfect every time! On this LO I did some actual hand-stitching to draw attention to my photos, and some faux stitching with markers. One of the tricks I learned early on is to pierce holes in the paper before doing any actual sewing - it not only makes the actual pushing and pulling easier, it also helps to keep my work neat and orderly."

Cardstock (American Crafts)
Pens (Zig, American Crafts)

Thickers (American Crafts)
Ink (Clearsnap)
Mist (Tattered Angels)

Design team member Savitri Wilder hand stitched several elements on this sweet card including the darling cloud.  Here's what Savitri had to say ... "I love stitching! It gives paper projects that small subtle dimension. Today I want to share this little card with a bit of stitched stems and clouds. I was going to freehand the cloud but then I remember the Tree House Sunset paper. So I trimmed a cloud out, traced it, and with my piercing tool created holes for my needle. While there are awesome templates (which I have and love) you can freehand or use a cut-out and give it a go. The cool part about stitching is that you don't have to have the perfect spacing. The needle holes for my cloud stitching I eye-balled and after all's done, the cloud looks just as nice as the stems which were perfectly spaced using my piercing tool template."

More "In Stitches" Projects with Eva and Wendy Sue

Design team member Wendy Sue Anderson created a gorgeous grid design on her layout celebrating her relationship with her husband.  She added stitching to her embellishment blocks with pink thread to coordinate with her embellishments.  Here's what Wendy had to say ... "I love stitching on my projects.  It’s actually pretty rare for me to complete a scrapbook page without using my sewing machine or a needle and thread.  I’m not sure why, but for me it’s just the perfect finishing touch.  One reason I like to add stitching is simply to add a bit of color.  On this layout you can see that I have added touches of pink with the black and cream color scheme.  Using a light pink thread around the edges just seems to add continuity … my perfect finishing touch!"

Just pierce little holes with a needle or a paper piercing and use your embroidery thread to do the stitches, embellish your card with your favorite Pebble's embellishments, I used the Happy Go Lucky collection. More "In Stitches" Projects with Christa and Sarah

First things first, I have a winner to announce from last week's "Guest Designer" giveaway. Thank you all so much for your comments. And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information (including your phone number for shipping purposes) as well as your choice of current Pebbles collection to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Guest Designer Winner" in the subject line.
Design team member Christa Paustenbaugh created this summer themed layout and added lots of stitching detail with her sewing machine.  Here's what Christa had to say ... "After having a sewing machine for 2 years I finally figured out not only how to thread it, but now how to sew on my pages!  And it is quite addicting I must say!  For this layout there is quite a bit of stitching, but I made it more a subtle effect/accent.  I punched the sun circles and sewed in a circle on the top punch, then cut the leftover cardstock into strips and sewed over those as well.  For an added punch, I used the same yellow thread for an outline on the white cardstock.  Finally, I used light pink thread and made some zigzag stitches between the title."

"I have always enjoyed adding some machine stitching to my layouts for a little colour or some definition. I don't often add hand stitching and thought this would be a good chance to try it out! I picked a yellow to coordinate with the Candy Dots and the yellow in the Ever After patterned paper.  I love how a few stitches can really pull a layout together."

Theme: In Stitches

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  Our theme this week on the Pebbles blog is "In Stitches."  Stitching has become a very popular technique in paper crafting.  Whether by hand, sewing machine, or even "faux" stitching with a journaling pen, the detail to a layout, card, or other project is simply wonderful.

Design team member Kristen Swain created a pair of sweet baby themed cards using our Pebbles chalks and stencils in addition to lots of hand stitching.  Here's what Kristen had to say ... "I love using chalks and stencils! There is just nothing softer for a sweet baby card. Adding stitches helps to define my chalked shapes, but helps to add another soft element to the card.  Don't be afraid to mix and match stencils to create a scene on your project. And adding items like pearls, buttons and brads really makes the card pop!"

Pebbles supplies used:
Dog Stencils (742096)
Baby Girl Stencils (742098)
Baby Boy Stencils (742099)

Other supplies used:

Buttons (American Crafts)

Design team member Melinda Spinks created this stunning layout by handstitching a grid design onto her cut out heart.  Here's what Melinda had to say ... "I was delighted when Lynn posted our assignments and I was given the theme of stitching as I love to hand-stitch on my projects, there is something almost therapeutic about hand-sowing. I do have a sewing machine somewhere but we've never really been fully acquainted unless out of sheer necessity and the friendship lasts all of five minutes before I pack it away again for another year. I have been saving the gorgeous browns and apricot papers of the Floral Lane collection as I've had an idea rolling around in my head to do a patchwork effect and the stitching theme matched perfectly."

Design team member Kryssi Ng used machine stitching to help add detail to the borders on this sweet layout.  Here's what Kryssi had to say ... "Printing the photo, typing up the journaling, and putting this layout together - time spent? Less than an hour! I must say I was rather proud of myself for pulling off this speedy feat. But, I must give credit to the fabulously coordinating-friendly Pebbles collections. A basic design concept of mine is sticking to a limit of 2-3 colors maximum. I apply this basic principle to making cards and scrapbooking for the most part. After I pulled together a few sheets that I felt would work together, it was one of the fastest layouts I've made. And one of my faves because it  is so clean and simple."

Guest Designer: Jennifer Moore and a GIVEAWAY!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to introduce you to this week's Guest Designer Jennifer Moore.  Jennifer was chosen as a guest designer after she posted to our Facebook Guest Designer search.  We loved her style and couldn't wait to see what she created with Pebbles products.  Let's get to know Jennifer a little better ...

Describe yourself in 3 words …witty, creative, introspective.

My guilty pleasure is … sweet tea!  I'm from the south ... sweet tea runs in our veins! ha!

You’ll never find me without … I'm never in public without my makeup on!  At home, that's another story ... but if I'm in public, I will have my face on for sure.  You're welcome.

You might be surprised to know that I … was a pretty darn good flute player in high school.  I was first chair all through school and even got to play a flute solo and a piccolo solo on the Grand Ole Opry stage in Nashville during concert season. Sadly, I haven't picked up my flute since I graduated.  Also, I type super fast.  I have been a Medical Transcriptionist for almost 12 years now, so typing is pretty much second nature to me. ;)

My least favorite chore is … dusting, definitely!  I'm allergic to dust, and when I try to dust my furniture, it stirs up my allergies and makes me feel awful.  Ugh.  I'd rather scrub toilets than dust!

I started scrapbooking in ... around 2001.  I had a band "scrapbook" (total band nerd) that I did during the late 90s when I was in high school, but it wasn't anything to brag about, and it definitely wasn't acid free!  My first "real" scrapbook was started in 2001, and then I became officially "hooked" in 2002 after I had my first son.

My favorite thing about this hobby is ... sniffing paper.  No, just kidding ... sort of.  I love the fact that I am documenting history and telling my story and my family's story.  I love that my children remember so many things because of their pages in their scrapbooks.  They love looking through their books and looking at pictures and reading the journaling.  Watching them reminisce about things that I have documented really makes me thankful that I have this hobby.  Plus, I just really love to play with fun papers and products!

If I were a Pebbles product I would be ... the metal flowers in The Mr. & Mrs. collection ... those are SO cool!!!

Jennifer created so many amazing projects for us today including this one about her son.  I love the way she used Floral Lane on a boy layout.  Here's what Jennifer had to say ... "I took this photo of my oldest son a couple of years ago.  When I saw the "Follow Your Dreams" sticker, I immediately knew I wanted to use this photo.  I then used my favorite scripture and printed it out on the computer for my journaling below the photo.  I thought it fit the dreams/hope theme of the page and photo very well.  Can I just say ... the texture of Pebbles patterned papers is the BEST!  I love the quality and thickness of the papers!  This color combo is one of my favorites right now.  Who says you can't use floral papers and embellishments on a boy page? ;)"

Here's what Jennifer had to say about her next project ... "When I first opened my box of goodies from Pebbles, all I saw was PINK! And LOTS of it! LOL  Not that I don't LOVE pink but I have 2 little boys.  So ... I decided to embrace my inner girly girl and just go with it!  This was such a fun project for me.  I found a wooden princess wall hanging at Hobby Lobby (40% off woo hoo!) and altered it with the Ever After papers and embellishments using Mod Podge.  Finally getting to scrap with super girly products was quite a change from my usual scrapping, but I loved it!  Now, my youngest son wasn't too happy with me whenever I hung this on his wall to photograph it, but I assured him I'd take it down as soon as my photos were snapped. LOL  The little felt embellishments are SOOO cute!  I also love the pink jewel candy dots I was able to use to "bling" up the crown."

I love the title of this next layout from Jennifer.  Even more I love the way she used both the Floral Lane and Ever After collection to document her fun scrappy vacation with friends.  Here's what Jennifer had to say ... "For the past 2 years, my online scrappy friends and I get together for a little mini vacation.  Last year, we all met up in Chicago.  Chicago's nickname is "Chi-town", so my husband made us these adorable shirts that said, "Chicks in Chi-town."  The hot pink in these papers and embellishments matched our shirts so well, so I knew this was my picture for this page. :)  The fonts of the letter stickers is so cool and ultra hip.  I decided to dot my "I's" with bling instead of the alpha sticker dots.  The layered embellishments and the border strip made putting this page together super quick and easy!"

"I can't tell you how much I LOVE the color combo of the Floral Lane collection!  That bright teal blue is GORGEOUS, and the shade of green is one of my favorites. :)  I literally made this little card in about 10 minutes.  All of the embellishments are so well coordinated with the papers, so everything just fits together so easily!  And how fun are those little stick pins?!"

Sketchy Thursday

For today's edition of "Sketchy Thursday" I asked some of our design team members to create a project based on this fabulous sketch by Becky Fleck.

Design team member Ginger Williams created this fun boy themed layout using lots of different Pebbles collections.  Here's what Ginger had to say ... "This was a super fun sketch to work with! I changed it up just a little turning the two photos into three to match the photos I wanted to scrapbook. I also added a little bit of color to the top and bottom of my layout as it felt a little bit empty without it.  Mainly I used the Happy Go Lucky Line, but in order to keep it a bit more masculine I used a paper from the New Arrival Boy line for a pop of blue - I think it added the perfect touch!"

Pebbles supplies used:
Happy Go Lucky Cheery (751080)
Happy Go Lucky Glee (751082)
Happy Go Lucky Carefree (751083)

Other supplies used:

Design team member Natalie Dever created this sweet layout about her daughter's Prom.  Here's what Natalie had to say ... "I love working with sketches.  You can follow the sketch exactly or use it as a starting point and make it your own.  I especially like how this sketch uses two pictures with different orientations and makes them work so well together."

Dear Pebbles

Good morning everyone!  Today we are featuring cards created by some of our design team members using their favorite Pebbles products.

Design team member Suzanne Sergi created this sweet card using the Ever After collection.  Here's what Suzanne had to say ... "My daughter has a birthday party to attend this week, so this assignment was perfect for creating a card for her little friend. The Ever After is a sweet collection, fit for a young princess! I used the Fairy Tale patterned paper as my background, and cut a rectangle window to house my birthday sentiment. I am loving the new addition of clear stamps to the Pebbles collection.
Stamping is fast, and is a fabulous way to dress up a card! "

How To Tuesday

First things first, I have a winner to announce from last week's "Friendship" giveaway. Thank you all so much for your comments. And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information (including your phone number for shipping purposes) to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Alphabet Winner" in the subject line.

Design team member Savitri Wilder shares a fun tutorial with us today about creating props for photography using Pebbles products.  Here's what Savitri had to say ... "I love How To Tuesday at Pebbles.  I love it because I either learn something new or get reminded of something I already know.  Today it's my turn to share a bit of how to and I hope that my little tutorial will either teach or remind you of a little something or another.  I’ve been into photography more and the last few weeks I have been either buying props or figuring out how to make some of my own. While doing my research I came across this tutorial and I was inspired.  While the examples were quite adorable, I wanted to spruce mine up a bit more and there’s nothing better than Pebbles’ goodies for what I had in mind!"

First of all you need the template. I found the template quite nice. At first I thought it was a bit small but after perching the finished piece on my 7-yrs-old head, it looked really really cute.
Using my good old printer I printed the template out and trimmed around it. After that was done I placed the template on top of the pattern paper. While I didn’t use anything but my left hand to hold the two pieces of paper together, I think it’d be better if the papers were adhered using non-permanent tape. So if you’re not steady with the other hand, do use a non-permanent tape.

You will most likely notice that my piece wasn’t like the template. Well, my friend borrowed my exacto knife and my sharp knives were all in the wash so I decided to do without the tab.

Then I grabbed some Pebbles ribbons and using a glue gun I adhered it. If you look at the photo I left a small piece hanging on the left. I did this on purpose so that I could adhere that piece to the back of the hat. It not only gave the edges a nice finished look, it also helps with fraying. Here’s a tip: Glue gun glues dry quickly. So don’t outline the whole bottom of the base with glue. Do it a bit of a time. So for the above I gave the base about 1.5” of glue and then adhere the ribbon. I kept going until the end. Also, you can decorate your hat however you want. I just decided on the above because I thought it’d look really cute. The method I used was glue, fold a bit, glue, fold a bit, etc.

NOTE: IF you want to hide the hole for where the string to hold the hat up will go hidden, you might want to create the holes before adhering the ribbon. I made the mistake of not doing this and I had to punch my holes above the ribbon. While it ended up looking great it wasn’t meant to be that way.

After the ribbon’s adhered, glue the end pieces behind the hat and glue the hat together. What I did for this part was lined one end of the hat with my glue gun and then stick. To cover the top hole I used a small pom-pom.

I could have been done but the hat just seemed so empty and so I went back to work. I remember a tutorial by Laura Vegas a few Tuesdays back and decided to use a similar method to create some flowers.

Instead of sewing, I pulled the stitching that goes through one part of the ribbon gently. Using the glue gun I adhere the edge and around and created this flower. It’s not perfect but that’s ok. I will use one of Pebbles brads to cover up all the imperfections.

I made three of the above and after adding the brads and gluing them to the hat, my hat now looks like this below:

As I mentioned above I forgot to punch holes on the sides of the hat for the strings so my holes are above the ribbon. With the long jute it looks great but it was a close one {::SMILES}.

If you are wondering how it looks like on one’s head, here is an example:

Mix & Match Monday

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend.  Today on the Pebbles blog we'll be mixing and matching some Pebbles products to show you just how well our collections can be used with one another.

Design team member Melinda Spinks created this sweet layout to celebrate a new furry addition to the family.  Here's what Melinda had to say ... "An assignment to mix and match Pebbles collections isn't really an assignment at all, it's basically an opportunity to simply scrap with what you love. Pebbles collections all seem to blend beautifully no matter what the theme or colour, so really it was a joy to put this layout together. I grabbed out all the paper I had from both Happy Go Lucky and Ever After and to be honest, I actually had to look twice to see which range I was using as they all matched perfectly. I created a layout based around the newest addition to our family who arrived this weekend and has been the centre of attention ever since. Introducing Mr Wilson, our long awaited Rag Doll kitten and he's just the sweetest darn thing who loves to sit and watch me scrap ...  awww!"

"When I saw this quote "Follow your Dreams" from the Floral Lane Phrase Embellishments I knew right away I wanted to incorporate the Layered Cloud Embellishments with it.  I used black patterned paper from Mr. & Mrs. collection as the base to all the bright colors in the card. The papers from all the collections really work so well together!"

Design team member Stephanie Baxter recreated one of her favorite Pebbles embellishments - toothpick flags - using papers from several different collections.  Here's what Stephanie had to say ... "One of my all-time favourite Pebbles products is the Happy Go Lucky Toothpick Flags ... they are just super cute! I wanted to be able to have the same sort of embellishment but in some of the other patterns that Pebbles has to offer so I decided to make my own versions by cutting out strips of patterned paper from the various Pebbles collections, snipping the end into a flag shape and adhering them to toothpicks by folding the paper strips in half and putting adhesive in between. These would look great on a scrapbook page but today I decided to pair them with some of the Duplicate Rub-Ons to make fun cupcake toppers."
