Whip It Up Wednesday

"I love the phrase cards that Pebbles has come out with in these new releases.  They lend themselves to both titles, journaling and embellishments, which is exactly what I did in this layout that I created very quickly.  I started with a large photo and just used a large banner effect along the bottom with the phrase cards and tags.  Very simple and easy to create!"  - Christa Paustenbaugh, Pebbles Design Team Member

How To Tuesday

"Originally when I was trying to decide what to do for this week's "How To," I was going to sew together a fun little minibook about our Halloween costumes.  But, when I got my box from Pebbles last week, it contained a couple of their new 4x6 "o'flip" albums.  So, I thought instead of making an album from scratch, I would demonstrate how easy these albums are to put together!  This mini book challenged girl thought it was ridiculously easy!"  - Mandie Pierce, Pebbles Design Team Member

You will want to start by taking the posts apart on the back of the album.  Also, there is a clear proctective film on the covers of the album; so be sure peel those off.

Make your cover and the first page.  And then adhere them together, back to back.  When you are making the back side, keep in mind that a small amount of the page will be covered on the right hand side.  (I did not take this into account on the first page I did!)

Peel the strip off and adhere the page.  Simple as that!  Easy peasy!  Make the rest of your pages and assemble just like that into your book.  When you are done, put them all together on the posts with the covers, and screw the posts back together.  Done.  So flippin' simple! ;)

More Tricks and Treats Projects with Kim and Tiffany

“For my projects today, I concentrated on the treats part of our new Tricks and Treats collection. And, of course, candy corn is high on my list of favorite treats. (It’s terribly addicting, isn’t it?) The cups were dollar store purchases, I just added some paper and stickers. I also decorated some bottles of soda – my kids were so excited to see these!"  - Kim Kesti, Pebbles Design Team Member

"Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday, and I got so excited when I first saw "Tricks & Treats."  The colors are perfect, and the patterns are trendy, and the cute stickers and embellishments make it so easy to create cute pages.  This is my darling daughter in her candy witch costume. She was so excited to put it on and to wave her candy corn "wand" and "get us."  I think she makes the cutest little witch!"  - Tiffany Hood, Pebbles Design Team Member

More Tricks and Treats Projects with Wendy and Nicole

"Although the Tricks and Treats line is obviously Halloween themed, there are a lot of great patterns and colours that are perfect for other occasions too. I used lots of small pieces from the 6x6 paper pad to add a great deal of the different patterns in the collection, without my page being too Halloween looking. I also used a lot of the edge pieces from the bottom of the Tricks and Treats 12x12 papers as well instead of having them go to waste! I love it when you can stretch a collection for whatever occasion you need it to be!"  - Nicole Nowosad, Pebbles Design Team Member

"I love putting yummy treats in a cute container to share with neighbors and friends (or, in this case, my boys' teachers).  Halloween is the perfect opportunity to share some sweet goodies in these cute little milk jars.  Dressing them up with some fun patterned papers and stickers is the perfect way to add a handmade touch a store-bought treat. :)  I cut the little labels for my jars from the label sheet in the 6x6 pad - they are the perfect mini-size for these little jars...and the stickers just happened to be the perfect size to place on the lids too, I love it when things like that happen!  Happy Halloween!"  - Wendy Sue Anderson, Pebbles Design Team Member

"Eek! Tricks and Treats is a real treat for Halloween paper crafts! I love how Pebbles makes it so easy with the Rotten Rd. paper to make a bunch of Halloween cards in no time at all! I simply used a circle punch to make accents from the Witchy Ln. paper and added some stitching. It’s that easy!"  - Kathy Martin, Pebbles Design Team Member

"The Tricks and Treats collection is SO adorable! If you're like me and you have young children, then this line is just perfect for your projects. It's scary, but not too scary of a collection. For quite awhile now, I have been wanting to make a mini album of all the cute Halloween costumes my girls have worn throughout the years. This collection combined with the O'Fl!p Album made it a fast, easy, and fun way to get it done. I cannot wait to add two more pages to my album after this Halloween. Caitie will be Princess Belle from Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Payton will be Princess Merida from Disney-Pixar's Brave. I finally get two princesses this year! Happy Halloween, Everyone!" - Renee Zwirek, Pebbles Design Team Member

Product Focus: Tricks and Treats

With Halloween just a week away it seems only appropriate to focus on our fun new Halloween line, Tricks and Treats.  Put on your cutest costume and start the trick-or-treat feast with Tricks and Treats. Adorable pumpkins, spiders, ghosts and other All Hallows’ Eve friends play in a warm palette of yellow, orange, green, black and purple. Time to celebrate frightful fun!

"The story of my daughter's Halloween costume decision-making-process this year was very cute and I knew I wanted to tell that story on a layout. On the night she was making her decision, she was not in the mood to pose for a photo, but my husband caught a pretty cute one of her as she was bouncing around. Unfortunately, he took it with his cell phone, at a weird angle, and in poor lighting. She looks adorable regardless, so I decided to use the photo as a support to the story rather than as the main element. By using glitter foam Thickers, I was able to elevate the importance of key words in the story and then had fun embellishing with a variety of bits of patterned paper, stickers, and chipboard printed Thickers."  - Vivian Masket, Pebbles Design Team Member

"I'm sending these pillow boxes to my nieces for Halloween; they live in Texas, and I don't get to see them very often.  I wanted to send them something fun, a treat, but not candy.  When I came across these Halloween necklace kits at the craft store I knew they'd be perfect!  I used my Cameo to cut the pillow boxes and labels.  I then embellished each box very simply.  I made a tag for one and decorated it with a sticker.  I then added that adorable little spider to the box (the only kind of adorable spider is one made from paper!).  For the other box, I made a rosette and topped it with a sticker from the Phrase and Accent Sticker sheet.  Both boxes are tied with black twine.  I hope they enjoy their gifts and have as much fun with their Halloween treat boxes as I did making them!"  - Donna Jannuzzi, Pebbles Design Team Member

Guest Designer: Tamara Tripodi and a GIVEAWAY!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to introduce you to this week's Guest Designer Tamara Tripodi!  Let's get to know Tamara a little better ...

Describe yourself in 3 words … silly, crafty, addictedtocoffee (LOL!)

My guilty pleasure is … lame reality TV shows - the more train-wreaky, the better.

You’ll never find me without
… CHAPSTICK - never. I literally made my husband carry my chapstick in his pocket into the OR during my c-section so I could have it right away afterwards, LOL.

You might be surprised to know that I … share a birthday with my half brother and half sister. February 16th. THEY were born the same year. Crazy stuff! Oh and I am deathly afraid of pool/spa drains and you will NEVER catch me swimming alone.

My least favorite chore is … scrubbing showers/toilets. My hubby will thankfully step up and do those for me!

I started scrapbooking in ... well, I have only been paper crafting for two years this September. Just made my first layout a few months ago.

My favorite thing about this hobby is ... all the PRETTIES!!! LOL! There's so much out there and I think I 'need it all'. I also just love being creative and doing what makes me happy.

If I were a Pebbles product I would be … Thickers! I am newly obsessed with them! And just think - if I love ya I could spell 'LOVE' and if ya tick me off.. well.. there's lots of punctuation symbols in the alpha sets. LOL! Really though, they are so pretty and fun to use! Another thing I have started to 'collect'.

"I just LOVE the Tricks and Treats collection and knew I wanted to make a card with it. I had several ideas running through my head ... then I saw those round stickers and they totally inspired me to make little 'lollipops'. Originally I was just going to tie a bow on them and then attach them to the card base, then I thought "How fun would it be to make a trick or treat bag?" Super fun, of course! I think it turned out quite cute and I can honestly say this is one of my most favorite cards I've made!"

"How fun are THESE? I have had these bottles sitting around for awhile and have actually started working on them 3 different times now. And none of them really 'clicked' for me. Then when I pulled out Tricks and Treats and realized I had perfectly matched gumballs I just HAD to make them! They pulled together nicely and make such a cute presentation for some yummy treats!"

"Since I am 'big' on die cutting, I wanted to be sure to include a die cut project in the mix of my guest designer stuff. I created this cute box from svgcuts.com. It's only two cutting files and easily goes together! Such a cute and simple way to put a smile on someone's face! I created an epoxy embellishment using my Epiphany Crafts tool. I added on some Trendy Twine and another SVG Cuts 'bat' cutting file.  Finished embellishing with wire, burlap ribbon, owl tag, and the words 'Boo' with some Thickers!"

"I love how this card came out! Walnut Grove is so beautiful and so easy to work with! I couldn't make ALL Halloween projects (HUGE Halloweenie fan over here!) so I thought a nice card would be perfect to finish off my round of guest designer projects! I sewed on some ribbon to add a special touch to the card and keep it closed. I included some die cut clouds ... because ... well, they're cute! I love butterflies, so the butterfly stickers had to be on my card somewhere! I took one of the 'friend' wood clothespins and broke it apart and turned it onto it's side. I thought this was a little something different and fun."

Sketchy Thursday

For today's edition of "Sketchy Thursday" we asked some of our design team members to create a project based on this *exclusive* sketch by Becky Fleck.

"I loved the grid design on the sketch, but decided to take it a step further and create a large grid using the whole of my page. I have used the journaling cards to mat my photo and type my journaling onto it. I typed out my journaling first onto scrap paper then adhered the journaling card over the top of the printing, I used some washi tape to hold it in place, ran it through the printer again then easily peeled away the washi tape. I sprayed the chipboard speech bubble with some white mist to take away the chipboard color so it coordinated with my layout perfectly!"  - Kim Jeffress, Pebbles Design Team Member

"The Seen & Noted collection is great for everyday as well as special moment scrapbooking. Love it! This sketch challenge is a perfect example to use this line for an everyday moment captured. Even though we saw a Halloween movie, I used this line to enhance the fun we had together. I just had to add a machine stitched line (just like in the sketch) and add our movie tickets to it. I love that this layout has just the right amount of neutral and color. Okay, lots of wonderful color!" - Renee Zwirek, Pebbles Design Team Member

Dear Pebbles

Good morning everyone!  Today we are featuring cards from some of our design team members using their favorite Pebbles products.

"I love making cards for gifts for friends and co-workers. To make the card a set, I like to stick to one group of products and even the same basic design and give each card a twist of its’ own! I thought the cheerful colours and patterns in the Seen & Noted line would be perfect for this set of cards!"  - Nicole Nowosad, Pebbles Design Team Member

How To Tuesday

"Chevron has been the rage in scrapbooking for sometime now!  I see layouts using chevrons that inspire me all the time, but many of them are a bit too labor intensive for me! I’m here to show you a quick and easy way to create a bold chevron layout using a 6x6 pad of paper.  My layout is 8.5x11, but this would also work for a 12x12 layout with a border. You will need a 6x6 pad, a trimmer, and your adhesive.  I chose to use the Tricks and Treats 6x6 pad for my project."  - Emily Spahn, Pebbles Design Team Member

The first step is simply cutting your piece of 6x6 paper diagonally.

Next, trim two inches off each side of the triangle.

Finally, trim an inch off the bottom of each triangle.

This is the base shape for your chevron pattern.  Repeat this process until you have 18 - 20 triangles.

To create your layout, score your 8.5x11 piece of cardstock right down the middle at 4.25”.  Begin at the top and reverse layer your triangles moving toward the bottom.  Be sure to only use adhesive at the top of each shape for now or you won’t be able to slide the next triangle in underneath!

Finally, add a few more triangles to the top so that the chevron pattern is consistent from the beginning, and trim off the edges (if you are making an 8.5x11 layout).

Complete your layout by placing your chevron pattern in the desired place on your cardstock background, add your photos, and embellish!

When you have finished your layout you are left with a bunch of scraps from this project – both mini triangles and long rectangles. I used both to create a couple extra Halloween projects!

Mix & Match Monday

It's Monday again which means we'll be mixing and matching some Pebbles products to show you just how well our collections can be used with one another.

"I love these new collections from Pebbles, they have the perfect combination between bright and pastel colors. I decided to use a pastel color palette for my layout, mixing Seen & Noted and Walnut Grove. To color match my title I covered my Thickers with pink pigment ink and sealed it with clear embossing powder."  - Eva Pizarro, Pebbles Design Team Member

More Seen & Noted Projects with Christa and Emily

"I absolutely adore this new line from Pebbles and find myself loving the B sides as much as the A sides.  I chose the yellow paper as a good contrast and decided to cut out 2 of the chevron strips with my craft knife and backed it with the red heart paper to show my love for coffee!  I also love the speech bubbles and chose to paint one black to make it stand out a bit more against the bright paper colors.  I think the journaling cards are one of my new favorites too because they are so versatile on pages and cards."  - Christa Paustenbaugh, Pebbles Design Team Member

z'I love that the prints and patterns in Seen & Noted work well for both boys and girls and for people of all ages. One of my favorite elements in the collection is the word bubble chipboard.  I knew it would work perfectly on a page documenting the things my 18 month year old son has been saying lately. He doesn’t have a lot of words right now, so I wanted to be sure to get them all down on paper before he starts saying too many for me to remember!  I also love all the different journaling and phrase cards that are a part of the Seen & Noted collection. They are so versatile and can be used for layouts, cards, and even Project Life.  The speech bubble card was a great addition to my page!" - Emily Spahn, Pebbles Design Team Member

"I think the Seen & Noted Phrase and Journaling cards are one of my favorite new things hands down!! I used one card as the title for my page, and the other for super quick journaling which is never my strong suit, so I love it!  I was able to create this page in far less time than I normally take, and you have to love that! :)"  - Laura Craigie, Pebbles Design Team Member

"Seen & Noted doesn't need any explanation ... I mean look at it.  It's colorful, awesome, and so fun. This was the first picture my husband & I took via Instagram when he got back from deployment last month. A phone photo or professional photo may still have the same meaning. He truly is my number one."  - Patricia Kumfer, Pebbles Design Team Member

"I love the Seen & Noted collection not only for mini books, but for my regular pages. The fun, bright colors are great for all the beach layout I do while living in Hawaii. I can also see myself using this for lots of other pages and even cards.   The Journaling Cards work great for titles or just as a quote.  The variety of patterns in the line is great for layering as well with some bright bold patterns and some more subtle patterns which works perfectly."  - Shawna Webster, Pebbles Design Team Member

More Seen & Noted Projects with Mandie and Amelie

"I was so excited to work with Seen & Noted this week.  LOVE this line ... pretty much everything about it!  Love the colors, love the patterns, love the phrases (I like naps and you!  Awesome!).  I am really excited to put some of this to use in my Project Life album.  But, I love that it is totally workable for layouts too!  The layout was initially inspired by the "Date" journaling card.  My husband and I go on mini dinner date nites once a week.  I thought the "date" card would be a fun mix in the title.  Super, super fun!  I can't wait to use this line some more!"  - Mandie Pierce, Pebbles Design Team Member

layout I used the Word Bubbles Chipboard from the Seen & Noted collection! I left them empty
as part of the mystery!  And what a beautiful color combination to scrap boys!”  - Amelie Mordret, Pebbles Design Team Member

Product Focus: Seen & Noted

All this week on the Pebbles blog we will be focusing on one of our brand new collections - Seen & Noted.  Record the adventures of everyday life in stylish simplicity with Seen & Noted. A warm color palette of red, yellow, green, turquoise and gray flourishes with beautifully versatile designs — from polka dots and stripes to speech bubbles and flowers.

"This entire layout was inspired by the quote on the large Phrase Card. When I saw it, I was immediately reminded of this series of photos that I love but hadn't yet scrapped. I decided to pair the Phrase Card with a photo of the same size. This was easy to do since the Phrase Card is 6" X 4". I love using grids as backgrounds, so I printed my journaling on the grid-patterned B side of the Favorites patterned paper, adhered the Phrase Card and photo, and then added smaller photos, embellishments, and punched pieces of patterned paper and cardstock. I used the shapes and colors of the different embellishments and punched shapes to create flow on my layout, keeping the viewer's eye moving and keeping the focus on my focal point photo."  - Vivian Masket, Pebbles Design Team Member

Free For All Friday

This week we have a very special Free For All Friday post for you.   Some of the Pebbles design team members contributed to this month's PageMaps by Becky Fleck page samples.  To view this month's sketches and page samples be sure to visit the PageMaps website here

Design team member Lynn Ghahary created a layout based on one of the sketches along with a step by step video showing how she put her page together.  Here's what Lynn had to say ... "I used the fabulous new Seen & Noted collection by Pebbles for this layout.  The colors in this collection are so cheerful and perfect for so many different themes.  I converted my photo to black & white and used a die cut to house several different patterned papers within my layout design."

Sketchy Thursday

For today's edition of "Sketchy Thursday" we asked some of our design team members to create a project based on this *exclusive* sketch by Becky Fleck.

"I work with sketches quite often in my scrapbooking, and this one from Becky was so much fun to use!  While I stayed pretty true to the design, I did make a couple of changes.  First, I used two photos in place of the one in the sketch.  Second, I put the full title in the space specified for the sub title.  I knew that I wanted to use the Corrugated Thickers and that my title simply wouldn't fit unless I made that change.  For me, sketches are like a guide to help with design, but they should never limit your creativity.  I think my finished layout retains the balance and playfulness of the original sketch while also staying true to my own style."  - Donna Jannuzzi, Pebbles Design Team Member

Whip It Up Wednesday

“This shot was made last year.  My son loves playing with my lens and I love these photos. I decided to use them with the Tricks and Treats collection! So, I resized three of these pictures and printed them at 4x6 inches.  I just stuck my photo on two square papers. I cut a few ghosts from the Ghost Ln patterned paper and sewed them under my picture. Some stickers, a little cameo shape, and again stitching! My layout is now finished!”  - Amelie Mordret, Pebbles Design Team Member

"An upcoming holiday, of any variety, is just the excuse I need to indulge in one of my favorite pastimes - baking! Not only does baking allow me to indulge in making some of our favorite holiday treats or trying out a new recipe, but also provides for the perfect opportunity to break out my paper crafting supplies.  I love to package up yummy little treats in something fun and festive for gifting close friends and neighbors.  Halloween may still be almost a month away, but I'll be prepared to share some of my latest kitchen creations with my favorite people, by simply popping them in a bag and stapling on one of these spooky little tags I've whipped up with Pebbles cute Tricks and Treats collection!  The six by six paper pad made these tags super quick and easy to put together.  I mixed in a few strips of patterned paper from the full 12x12 sheets, as well, along with a few coordinating ribbons and buttons to pull the whole look together.  I think it will add just the right touch to my homemade goodies, don't you agree?"  - Jaclyn Rench, Pebbles Design Team Member

How To Tuesday

"Are you looking for a unique way to add a border strip to a project?  How about creating a paper ruffle?  It’s quick and easy and it’s not something you see very often.  Here’s how to do it!"  - Wendy Sue Anderson, Pebbles Design Team Member

First, gather your supplies.  You’ll need a paper strip that’s about twice as long as you want the final ruffle to be (my strip is 1” wide and 9 ½” long - and my final ruffle is 5 ½”).  You’ll also need a ruler, a paper piercer, some thread or twine, and a needle OR my favorite “needle” tool – a flosser. (yes, the kind you use to floss your teeth – there’s a big “eye” and the needle bends – perfect for hand stitching on paper!)

Now that you have your supplies gathered, take your ruler and mark every ½” along your strip.

Pierce a hole through each mark.

Once the holes are pierced, you can do a “loose” gather on your piercing tool.  Doing this now will just make it easier to gather the paper after the thread is in.

This is what it will look like after you’ve done the loose gathering.

Thread your needle and run a straight stitch through the holes (using the flosser makes this step really easy since it’s flexible!).

Tape one end of the twine to the back of the strip and use your fingers to gather the paper until it’s the length you want.  Tape the other end to secure it, and then cut off the excess twine.  You can play with the gathers a bit until you get them evenly spaced.  Now your gathered ribbon strip is ready to adhere to your project!

Mix & Match Monday

It's Monday again which means we'll be mixing and matching some Pebbles products to show you just how well our collections can be used with one another.

"Recently we went to a local fair and my boys rode a mini roller coaster for the first time, once the anticipation was over and the ride started they had a fabulous time. I loved the summery feel to my photos with the bright red and yellow, so when I went looking through my stash of Pebbles patterned papers to create my layout I pulled out papers that had these colours. My layout came together quickly after that.  I find matching colours from photos with your papers and embellishments is extremely important when it comes to creating harmony in your layout.   One thing I love from Pebbles are these Tags and Pockets from the Seen and Noted collection, perfect for holding extra photos or journalling ... or both!"  - Kim Jeffress, Pebbles Design Team Member
