Mix & Match Monday

It's Monday again which means we'll be mixing and matching some Pebbles products to show you just how well our collections can be used with one another.

"As soon as I laid eyes on the Take Note 'speech bubble' paper from the Seen & Noted collection, I knew it would give me the perfect excuse to document what a chatterbox my oldest son is.  With that neutral paper as my starting point, I had lots of room to mix and match colors and patterns from a variety of different Pebbles collections, to achieve a masculine feel and continue the 'wordy' theme of the page I was going for.  The Family Ties Mother text style pattern was a great compliment to my page theme.  I was even able to mix in elements from the unexpected Trick and Treats collection as well as Sunnyside, to throw in a splash of orange to coordinate just perfectly with the photos I chose."  - Jaclyn Rench, Pebbles Design Team Member

“I’m very happy to be on the blog today to wish you all a Happy New Year.  May every day of the new year glow with good cheer and happiness for you and your family. On this occasion, I wanted to make a layout with a new year theme. So I thought about my 2013 resolutions. I designed my layout around this idea, with a winter look and feel. To do this, I used the Walnut Grove and Seen & Noted collections. Have good times with you and yours!”  - Amelie Mordret, Pebbles Design Team Member

Free for All Friday

Happy Friday everyone! We are wrapping up the week with a fabulous "free for all" project from one of our design team members.

"My sons have a cute bunch of little friends that they just adore. One day we were at a friend's house and the kids were piled into the bed playing, it was just so sweet.  I took the colors from the photos, in particular the banner and the boys shirts as inspiration for my paper and embellie choices. Its not often I get to use pink( having two boys) so I take every chance I get. You may notice my layered clouds, I cut the bottom off the cloud stickers from the Sunnyside Accent & Phrase sticker sheet to better suit my layout!"  - Kim Jeffress, Pebbles Design Team Member

Dear Pebbles

Good morning everyone!  Today we are featuring cards from some of our design team members using their favorite Pebbles products.

"I thought for a nice change that I would make cards using a different shape, rather than a standard card sized card! I cut the bases of the card into a pennant shape and then went to work making three different cards. Using the Family Ties line made it easy to create a pretty hello card, as well as one for a special guy in your life! I love that the line can work for so many different themes! Making a card in a unexpected shape is a fun and unique way to let someone know you are thinking of them!" - Nicole Nowosad, Pebbles Design Team Member

"I know it is the day after Christmas, and so perhaps a bit early for flowers and butterflies, but I adore the Family Ties collection so much and when I received the assignment to make cards for today's feature I felt compelled to use this happy and sunny line.  I hope you will forgive my constant use of layered butterflies... it is just so much fun to play with different patterns, especially when using the 6x6 paper pads.  Together with the stickers and chipboard shapes in this collection they make designing cards so easy, and fun too!"  - Donna Jannuzzi, Pebbles Design Team Member

How To Tuesday

"With Christmas officially here it is now time to think about New Years Eve. This year I thought I would make some party decorations to give to family and friends. I did a party horn and some confetti. To make the horn you are going to need: a party horn for the supermarket or the dollar store and some papers."  - Eva Pizarro, Pebbles Design Team Member

First, take the horn apart and trace the form on your patterned paper. Cut it out.

Next, glue the patterned paper creating a cone and assemble the horn.

Cut strips from patterned paper and soak them in water until they can bend easily.

Carefully create a ruffle with your sewing machine. Let it dry 10 minutes.

Attach to your horn with a hot glue gun and put you horn on a table so that the ruffle dries with that shape.

I also did a vellum bag with some big circles to throw during the night as confetti!

Mix & Match Monday

It's Monday again which means we'll be mixing and matching some Pebbles products to show you just how well our collections can be used with one another.

"When it comes to mixing lines I think Family Ties and Seen & Noted work together wonderfully.  I used one patterned paper from each line, and minimal embellishments on my page so the photo is really the star.  I love how using the Pebbles Quote and Phrase cards can make a page com together so quickly, and for my journaling I cut a box from one of the Journaling cards and saved the saying above it for another project."  - Laura Craigie, Pebbles Design Team Member

Holiday Cards and Gifts with Christa and Kathy

"I wanted to use more non traditional colors for this card set and decided on a dark blue background for my images.  I left the cards without a sentiment so they could be used for anyone with a personal message inside. They are small enough for gifts or a card for a gift bag too.  I hand cut the angel wings and body/dress and simply made accordion folds for the dress.  Some simple stitching and they are all complete!"  - Christa Paustenbaugh, Pebbles Design Team Member

"I really enjoyed this project and the challenge of creating a Christmas card and gift with non-traditional colors. I hope it helps demonstrate that you can use any line of paper for just about any theme you can dream up! It’s a tradition in our house to bake for the neighbors during the holidays and one of my favorite goodies to include is banana bread."  - Kathy Martin, Pebbles Design Team Member

More Holiday Cards and Gifts with Tiffany and Vivian

"When I saw the blue polka dot paper from the Seen & Noted collection I thought it looked like snow.  The rest of the project was built upon that sheet of paper.  I love the look of aqua and red together, and there are so many cute patterned papers and embellishments from Pebbles that coordinate in those two colors!  I pulled out my Cricut for this project and used the Winter Frolic and Winter Woodland cartridges for the snowman and the snowflakes.  The picture frame was black and I liked the design, so I spray painted it white.  Then I pulled it all together with lots and lots of foam dimensional adhesive."  - Tiffany Hood, Pebbles Design Team Member

For these gifts, I used my die cutting machine and Pebbles patterned paper to create fun and colorful embellishments for my holiday presents. The Hanukkah set features a package with the numbers 1-8 welded together, a package adorned with a rosette with a Star of David at the center, and a package presented with a 3-D paper bow. The Christmas set features a package with a green and red ornament and a package with a stitched garland of holly leaves and berries."  - Vivian Masket, Pebbles Design Team Member

Product Focus: Family Ties

All this week on the Pebbles blog we will be focusing on one of our brand new collections - Family Ties.  Soft and airy blues, greens and yellows create an inviting color palette for trees, florals and geometric patterns.  Find your heart and home with Family Ties.

"Isn't it funny how one tiny little stamp can inspire an idea for a whole 12x12 page?  That's just what happened to me when I first saw the banner style stamps from the new Family Ties collection.  The
'family' and 'cousins' word stamps were the first to catch my eye and remind me of some sweet photos I had not yet scrapped, of my son and his cousin a few years back.  I just love how these stamps look stamped on white paper, cut out, and attached to a little wooden stick.  They make for a fun and dimensional accessory to the page."  - Jaclyn Rench, Pebbles Design Team Member

More Holiday Cards and Gifts with Eva and Nicole

"I love to make little gifts for friends or neighbours, but just because it is a small gift it doesn't have to be less special! For my project today I did a small box that holds two types of chocolates and a coordinating card. I used some aqua and red from the Seen & Noted collection and mixed it with some kraft. I love that color combo for Christmas!"  - Eva Pizarro, Pebbles Design Team Member

"I wanted to make a simple project using just my trusty 6x6 Seen & Noted paper pad and some punches. I love the fun modern colors in the line, and Seen & Noted is really perfect for the holidays also! The soft aqua and bright red combo is perfect for a modern take! I cut some paper boxes from a template on my Silhouette. I used the circle punches and sewing machine to sew a garland to wrap around the gift! I added a dimensional circle “puff”, made from 6 punched circles folded together on top of a doily and glittered snowflake."  - Nicole Nowosad, Pebbles Design Team Member

Seen & Noted 6x6 Paper Pad (751323)

"I love the idea of giving gift certificates in something else other than a card – so instead I cut a mitten and Christmas tree shape out of cardstock, layered with some fun patterns from Walnut Grove and Seen & Noted and stitched the outer 3 edges together, leaving the bottom open to insert a gift card! Just add a tag from the Walnut Grove line and you are done! A quick and fun way to give someone special something for the holidays."  - Nicole Nowosad, Pebbles Design Team Member

More Holiday Cards and Gifts with Laura and Laurel

Before we get to more projects I have a winner to announce from our "Guest Designer" giveaway two weeks ago.  We apologize for not posting the winner sooner.  Thank you all so much for your comments. And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information (including your phone number for shipping purposes) to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Guest Designer Winner" in the subject line.

"I made two relatively simple cards for this week and let the colorful patterned paper do the talking.  I thought the Seen & Noted line was perfect for Christmas cards with it's beautiful Reds & Blues.  I used my die cut machine on both cards adding a Snowflake to the one, and a sentiment to the other.  I love the snowflake with the sentiment 'You're my number one' since no snowflake is alike, and in the card I'll write 'this Christmas'."  - Laura Craigie, Pebbles Design Team Member

Theme: Holiday Cards and Gifts

All this week on the Pebbles blog we will be sharing holiday cards and gifts created by some of our design team members just in time for the holidays.

"I always aim to have a few small hostess gifts on hand for the many parties and gatherings that occur during the holiday season.  I thought a set of handmade tags, garland and bows would make a nice little gift set, since gift wrapping is something most everyone does this time of year!  For a festive approach to this project, I dug into my Pebbles stash and pulled out several of the red and green patterned papers I had, alongside some neutrals and a splash of light pink.  I put my holiday punches to work to add 'a little Christmas' to this project, that otherwise uses not a stitch of holiday themed product.  I love how all of these simple gift accessories look all packaged up in a cute reused embellishment box - I hope the recipient does, too!"  - Jaclyn Rench, Pebbles Design Team Member

“Creating holiday cards without using actual Christmas-y papers is a bit of a challenge, but I love doing it. I feel like it really stretches my supplies (not to mention, my imagination). Crafting these cards was not that difficult, I love the teal and red combination for Christmas, anyways; so, these came together quickly. By using the same card “template”, I could mix and match several patterns together and unify everything by using the same ribbon. Quick and easy, just what the doctor ordered this time of year! More Non-Traditional Holiday Layouts with Wendy and Amelie

"I loved this week’s challenge of using non-traditional colors and products to create a holiday layout.  The first thing I did was change my photos to black and white – not only were they “traditional” in color, they were also super busy…just like the Christmas Eve when they were taken.  I love taking pictures of the kids in front of the tree in their holiday jammies – but this layout was meant to focus on telling them that they are MY best gifts – no matter what else is under the tree!  These bright colors make me happy and bring back memories of the multi-colored Christmases of my childhood.  Happy Holidays!! :)"  - Wendy Sue Anderson, Pebbles Design Team Member

More Non-Traditional Holiday Layouts with Christa and Shawna

"I'm not normally drawn to holiday paper lines and colors and typically grab "everyday" papers for holiday projects, so this assignment was right up my alley!  Yes, I did use red on this layout, but instead of pairing it with green, I paired it with that beautiful turquoise blue tone from the Seen and Noted line.  Seen and Noted lends itself beautifully to a holiday layout with the word phrases and the bright colors.  I popped some black in the layout too to contrast the reds and blues.  I love a good grid pattern and that's simply what I did here: printed off wallet size photos, placed them in a grid and filled it in the with title and embellishments.  Very simple!" - Christa Paustenbaugh, Pebbles Design Team Member

It really sticks out against the fun colors for a nice contrast." - Shawna Webster, Pebbles Design Team Member

More Non-Traditional Holiday Layouts with Renee and Mandie

"Instead of reaching for one of my Christmas Collections, I first took a look at my photos and noticed the colors in it. I have one daughter that is obsessed with pink and the other loves purple. It was challenging not to use red and green, but for this layout I banned myself completely from using any of it. It was SO hard! Well, I decided to use yellow and blue along with neutral colors. And, instead of embellishing my layout with snowflakes and trees, I decided to use arrows, phrase stickers, and bubble caps. Also, I used the great design of the pattern paper to add some hand journaling. Finally, instead of using a traditional title like "Dashing Through the Snow" or "Snow Much Fun" (again...SO hard not to use one of these), I decided to play with the song, Sleigh Ride. I worked the word "sleigh" into my title as a fun reflection of these photos of my three goofballs. "Our Christmas mantel is eclectic ... Willow Tree nativity, woodsy elements & some vintage looking brown & gold shiny things.  But.  I love it just the way it is and would not change it!  Just like my eclectic mantel, I used an eclectic mix of products for this layout to create a Christmas layout without Christmas themed products.  A little bit of Seen & Noted, a little Let Freedom Ring, Family Ties & some Walnut Grove."  - Mandie Pierce, Pebbles Design Team Member

More Non-Traditional Holiday Layouts with Patty and Vivian

"Holiday Photo Season ... being a photographer holiday season starts before Thanksgiving. I wanted to document how this is such a big time for me. The goals I make for it every year and how much I love this time year. Pictures are so important even as an instagram."  - Patty Kumfer, Pebbles Design Team Member

"I find that I am always so rushed during the holidays and/or focused on things other than photos. I love that I can turn a mediocre photo black and white, print it as a Polaroid, put it against a contrasting background, and suddenly it's the star of the show. This simple layout gets its oomph from the contrast between the bright colors and the black background. A die-cut row of numbers welded together serves as both the title and a major design element on the page."  - Vivian Masket, Pebbles Design Team Member

Theme: Non-Traditional Holiday Layouts

All this week on the Pebbles blog we will be sharing holiday layouts created by some of our design team members using non-traditional colors and products.

"I’ve never been a huge fan of the traditional red and green Christmas colors, which is probably why I rarely scrapbook Christmas.  I loved the challenge of creating a layout with non-traditional colors.  Adding in a bit of pink and teal made the layout much more my style!  I think I used bits from every current Pebbles line in this layout!"  - Emily Spahn, Pebbles Design Team Member

"A couple of years ago my family spent our Christmas holidays with my in-laws in New Jersey.  We were incredibly lucky that year to have a white Christmas.  These photos of my son Nathan were taken after some time spent playing outside in the snow.  We came inside to have a snack and he told me that he didn't want to take his hat off.  I guess my little California boy decided that panettone tastes better when you eat it with your hat on?  I can't blame him for wanting to stay cozy!"  - Donna Jannuzzi, Pebbles Design Team Member

Guest Designer: Andrea Budjack and a Giveaway!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to introduce you to this week's Guest Designer Andrea Budjack!  Let's get to know Andrea a little better ...

Describe yourself in 3 words … goofy, giving and artsy.

My guilty pleasure is … my eleven o'clock Dr. Phil.

You’ll never find me without … my flip flops.

You might be surprised to know that I … have only worn high heels once, on my wedding day.

My least favorite chore is … laundry.

I started scrapbooking in ... college, oh about thirteen years ago (yikes).

My favorite thing about this hobby is
... color, that is all I need to say.

If I were a Pebbles product I would be … stickers!

"Although I do not scrapbook much, I do love mini albums.  In this album I loved the idea of adding the premade pockets and tags as pages to tuck in photos each day and a place to add a little note. "

Seen & Noted Accent and Phrase Stickers (732128)
Seen & Noted Black Label Phrase Stickers (732129)

"For me, cards and stitching go together like paper and adhesive.  As with the handmade heart embellishment, I used a variety of stickers and paper to create the quilted look.  Just fold a piece of cardstock/paper in half, but your heart and add your papers and stickers to the heart.  Trim the edge and stitch."

"I love making layered altered items as little reminders to (as the sticker states perfectly) "live in the moment".  With all of the amazing colors in each collection, it is a chance for me to fit as many colors onto one little piece as I possibly can. They put a big ol' smile on my face."

Sketchy Thursday

For today's edition of "Sketchy Thursday" we asked some of our design team members to create a project based on this fabulous sketch by Becky Fleck.

"We have a tiny little addition to our family. This sweet little guy was found this month under our deck. I thought he would be the perfect subject for the brand new Family Ties collection from Pebbles. It’s all about family and our pets are family too!"  - Kathy Martin, Pebbles Design Team Member

Family Ties Accents & Phrase Stickers (732148)

"I LOVE working with sketches!  It's always so nice to have a starting point - because, for me at least, getting started is usually the hardest part.  I wanted to create an 8 1/2" x 11" layout, but I was easily able to convert this sketch to work for my needs.  Instead of having the items tilted, I chose to make them straight.  Other than that, I stuck pretty close to the sketch.  I love the little half-circle element on the bottom and I think I'll be using that idea again in the future - that's another fun thing about sketches - they encourage you to try things you might not think of otherwise!  :)"  - Wendy Sue Anderson, Pebbles Design Team Member

Whip It Up Wednesday

"I love going to a grid pattern for a quick & easy layout.  No photo trimming.  Just a little measuring for your pattern papers.  This summer, we went to the Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz.  My husband was a skeptic before we were went.  He is still a skeptic!  Ha!"  - Mandie Pierce, Pebbles Design Team Member

"I don't think any project could be easier than these darling mini love notes.  And they only need two products, too: the Seen & Noted 6x6 Paper Pad and the Seen & Noted Phrase Cards.  I simply popped out the sentiments from the pack, wrapped some twine around the front, and adhered them onto patterned paper and then onto a white cardstock card base with pop up foam dots.  As simple as they are, the monochromatic design really pops, and you could make lots of these in no time at all."  - Tiffany Hood, Pebbles Design Team Member

How To Tuesday

“Today I would like to share a quick and easy gift idea. I’ve seen a few different “hoop crafts” floating around the internet, and I knew that our new Family Ties collection would be perfect for trying out my own paper crafted hoop. Follow these simple instructions to make this cute gift anyone in your family would enjoy.”  - Kim Kesti, Pebbles Design Team Member

First, grab some canvas type of fabric and a standard embroidery hoop (mine is 6 ½”). Trace a pencil line on your fabric around the outside edge of the hoop.

Place some cardstock stickers on your canvas and arrange in a cute pattern

Machine stitch the stickers in place and stitch an extra accent line (you can mark this line with a pencil, if desired. I used blue thread to match my stickers.

When  you are finished stitching, run a line of tacky glue just inside your pencil line; open your hoop and insert the canvas inside the hoop. The  glue will hold your canvas firmly in place. Let dry.

Add a few more embellishments using tacky glue to hold them in place.

Tie a ribbon bow and your hoop is finished – a sweet little gift for your loved one!

Mix & Match Monday

It's Monday again which means we'll be mixing and matching some Pebbles products to show you just how well our collections can be used with one another.

"Sometimes as scrapbookers we want to record an important memory, even if the photo is perfect.  This photo doesn’t look like much, but it tells a wonderful story … one of my favorites from when my son first came home from the hospital.  I’m not usually a big journaler, but on this particular layout, I really wanted the photo and the journaling to be the focus of the layout.  One of my favorite things about Pebbles products is how well they all coordinate with one another.  I bet you’d never guess that I used products from three different lines on this project!"  - Emily Spahn, Pebbles Design Team Member

“For this layout I mixed products from Seen and Noted, Walnut Grove, and Family Ties.  They all had some fun, bright coordinating colors that worked easily together to create this quick, fun page.  I love how they look on the kraft background as well.  I do occasional layouts for my own book so this was a just a fun page to document my love of coffee.” - Shawna Webster, Pebbles Design Team Member
