More Hip Hip Hooray Projects and a GIVEAWAY!

"Oh how I love the Hip Hip Hooray collection!  The bright colors and fun patterns - it is just perfect in so many ways.  For this layout I decided to scrap a photo of my sweet niece Gia.  I cut the circle border using my Silhouette and backed it with lots of different patterns from the collection.  I added different embellishments here and there, used the fantastic glitter letters to spell out my title, and finished everything off with a sprinkling of sequin candy dots (my new love!)."  - Lynn Ghahary, Pebbles Design Team Member

"The sunny, happy colors of Hip Hip Hooray inspired me to make a sun-shaped element on my page and focus on a photo from a fun summer day. The banner stickers, cut apart, easily subbed as sun rays and stitched down, added a little dimension to the page. I layered the letter stickers on top of that. Banner strips cut from the Good Times patterned paper frame my page with some narrow strips of Celebration. The confetti is made from the negative shapes of the die cut tag and some Sequin Candy Dots. I can think of a thousand uses for this bright & happy line!"  - Valerie Mangan, Pebbles Design Team Member

"Last year, my twin girls received a turtle sandbox for their 2nd birthday. It was a gift that they absolutely loved so I knew that I wanted to create a layout only about it. I love the bright, happy, fun colors in Hip Hip Hooray and selected several patterns to make a grid design. I also punched starbursts out of the same patterned paper to create a tone-on-tone effect. I used a little blue and white twine for my banner and highlighted several pieces with the sequin candy dots."  - Jill Cornell, Pebbles Design Team Member

More Hip Hip Hooray Projects with Gretchen and Stephanie

First things first, I have a winner to announce from last week's "Country Picnic" giveaway. Thank you all so much for your comments. And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information (including your phone number for shipping purposes) to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Country Picnic Winner" in the subject line.

"This new birthday line is so fun! It's full of great colors perfect for boy and girl birthdays. It's also great for birthdays of all ages! :) For instance I used this line to scrap a page about a little birthday party my husband and I threw for his brother (my brother-in-law) on his 22nd birthday. I created a collage of the pictures I wanted to scrap and then adhered it to the background cardstock. Then I used the fun Hip Hip Hooray paper and embellishments to decorate around the collage! Thanks for looking!"  - Gretchen McElveen, Pebbles Design Team Member

The colours in this collection are so vibrant and summery, it's easy to crate layouts and other projects that are non-birthday themed, like this layout I've created about my friend's daughters' bedtime reading habits. I can definitely see myself creating all kinds of pages with this line - it's so versatile!"  - Stephanie Baxter, Pebbles Design Team Member

Product Focus: Hip Hip Hooray

All this week on the Pebbles blog we'll be focusing on one of our brand new collections Hip Hip Hooray.  Hip Hip Hooray is bursting with bright, bold colors and designs that are perfect for all your birthday paper crafting needs, from layouts and cards, to decorations, favors and invitations.

"I absolutely love this new collection by Pebbles! The vibrant colors and patterns are not only perfect for any birthday themed layout but also for everyday layouts. Today I decided to focus on the birthday theme and created this layout of my oldest daughter at her last birthday. I decided to mimic the Confetti patter paper and added confetti pockets on this layout. These are fairly easy to create using vellum paper, a circle punch and a sewing machine, I like the subtle accent they bring to my layout."  - Mel Blackburn, Pebbles Design Team Member

"Right now Alyssa is having a hard time in high school. While she loves school and is doing well, she isn’t making friends quite as fast as I think she hoped. I wanted to do a layout to encourage her as well as keep a memory of life. Sometimes life isn’t always easy, but what can come out of it is the most wonderful thing to experience when you are through the hard times. Documenting this will show you later on in life that high school was just a blip on the radar and life is bigger than that as well as how important God plays a role in our lives to get us through things. The gentleness of Country Picnic was perfect for this touching layout!"  - Elizabeth Carney, Pebbles Design Team Member

The dimensional stickers were the inspiration for these cards. They have  a variety of sentiments to choose from. and helped me to create three cards in an hour! Love that kraft is one of the main colors in this collection, and you cannot go wrong with the beautiful floral patterns! These cards are full of dimension, and ready to help celebrate the arrival of Spring!"  - Suzanne Sergi, Pebbles Design Team Member

"I love the greens, pinks and kraft of the Country Picnic line.  But, I wanted to make the color pop out a little; so I chose a grey background for this easy to assemble layout.  I took these adorable photos of my friend and her daughter last year.  The colors of this line translate well into a baby girl theme, as well as spring.  I really like the new gift tags.  So fun!  I un-tied the string on the tag to take the loop out and re-tied it into a bow to make it more layout ready vs. gift ready.  I layered a candy dot button on top of the design and a flower from the dimensional stickers."  - Mandie Pierce, Pebbles Design Team Member

More Spring Projects with Jill and Valerie

"If there is one thing I love to do it's mix patterns. On this page I managed to mix 7 of them. I used a variety of prints from Fresh Goods to fill the space behind letters I die cut out of the background with my Silhouette. To complete the sentiment, I wrote the word "forward" in a script font, welded it then cut it from another Fresh Goods pattern. The simple white background lets all the bright springy color pop."  - Valerie Mangan, Pebbles Design Team Member

"The Fresh Goods collection was the first line I thought of when I started to make something for Spring week. Sure, Fresh Goods has a lot of kraft paper and primary colors in it, but there are also lots of fun flowers and pinks, light blues, and greens! Perfect for Spring! I grabbed the Dimensional Phrase Stickers, chipboard embellishments (Chips), and some scraps of patterned paper to make these 3 cards. Fun and easy!"  - Gretchen McElveen, Pebbles Design Team Member

"The sun is shining, and the days are getting longer! I am so ready for Spring, and the arrival of Easter. I do love creating fresh and new home decor projects. I decided to create a fresh spring frame welcoming the arrival of Easter. Here I took an open frame, and inside placed a white canvas. I love this combination, and will be trying this again soon. I decided to leave the canvas white and with a few patterns of paper from various collections, I have an Easter memory to cherish. I created an egg banner by simply sewing eggs die cut out of various papers with the sewing machine. This is so easy to do, and hung it from the top of the frame.  Using the new corrugated letters from Pebbles, and two egg die cuts, I created a whimsical title at the bottom. The felt flowers, and the vellum are the finishing details to my project."  - Suzanne Sergi, Pebbles Design Team Member

Theme: Spring

We'll be celebrating the arrival of Spring all this week on the Pebbles blog with spring themed projects from some of our design team members.

"We don't have a lot of spring decor in our house so I thought the Floral Lane line would be perfect for a spring project.  I chose 4 different papers and did some paper weaving as a base.  I had bought a frame from Michaels for just a dollar and simply traced around the oval frame and cut my paper weaving to match that.  I stitched just a bit to hold it all together even better.  My favorite Pebbles Silhouette shape is that banner and knew I wanted to use it for this too!  I cut some brown cardstock and layered more Pebbles paper behind that for part of my title.  Some pretty flower, ribbon and butterfly accents and it's ready to hang up!"  - Christa Paustenbaugh, Pebbles Design Team Member

Free For All Friday

Happy Friday everyone! We are wrapping up the week with a "free for all" project from our design team.

"I think my favorite two collections to mix and match are Fresh Goods and With Love.  The kraft bases in both lines work so well together – and the reds match perfectly too!  I am also really loving the little scalloped envelopes – they are perfect for adding hidden journaling to a layout.  I ran the envelope and tag through my Cuttlebug with an embossing folder adding just the right amount of subtle extra texture to these kraft products."  - Wendy Sue Anderson, Pebbles Design Team Member

"For this week's Free For All project , I decided to create some cute bon bon treat boxes to put in some Hershey's kisses and give them away when I visit someone . I so love Pebbles cardstock quality patterned papers which offer wide possibilities in our papercrafting. Simply cutting a piece of 12x12 patterned paper to the right size (10"x8") and using a scoring board to put the score lines in the right places, a little bit of cutting away of the appropriate parts of the paper and I have these treat boxes ready to decorate and go."  - Pearl Liu, Pebbles Design Team Member

Sketchy Thursday

For today's edition of "Sketchy Thursday" I asked some of our design team members to create a project based on this fabulous sketch by Becky Fleck.

“I love the freedom of working with a sketch and the fact that there are no rules to it. You can pick the elements you love and make it work for you, like I did here in my layout about how silly my sister and I are together. I rotated the strip of patterned paper so it was vertical instead of horizontal and added a border strip at the bottom. I also changed the title a little bit and added some extra clusters of embellishments. I like the fact that you can still see the main elements of the sketch on my layout and yet have put my own stamp on it.”  - Stephanie Baxter, Pebbles Design Team Member

Fresh Goods Signage (751186)

"I was SO excited to get to work with a PageMaps sketch for this assignment.  I love how detailed yet versatile Becky's sketches are. My layout is not a literal interpretation of the sketch.  For instance, I added a third photo and changed many of the square elements to a rectangular shape."

Whip It Up Wednesday

For today's post we challenged some of our design team members to "whip up" a project using Pebbles products in 30 minutes or less. Check out these fabulous projects that can be created in no time at all!

"One of my favorite gifts to give is a set of cards.  I like to do this for my boy's teachers as something different and useful.  When I have a bunch to make and I need to do it fast I stick to one design and repeat it with different papers and embellishments.  It makes the task so much quicker and still looks great!"  - Laura Craigie, Pebbles Design Team Member

Pebbles supplies used:
With Love I Heart You (751203)
With Love XOXO (751210)
New Addition Dimensional Phrase Stickers (7320590)
Thank You Rub Ons (760201)

"For this week's Whip It Up Wednesday, I focused on a set of cards for various occasions that I could give as a gift set, created in under thirty minutes. I used the Floral Lane dimensional stickers as my sentiments and kept the general layout of each card the same, making only minor changes to each to break them up just a bit. And, if you have an extra ten minutes, you can create the gift bag as well! I used a die to trace the window on the front of the paper bag, backed it with clear acetate and framed it with the die cut. Then I added the simple tag and ribbon and voila! An easy gift with a spring-time feel, perfect for a little pick-me-up!"  - Ashley Stephens, Pebbles Design Team Member

How To Tuesday

"I know making these little rosettes (or pinwheels... I'm not certain what you call them!) is nothing new.  I love them.  But, every time I make them, I struggle to get them to stay together.  My hands are cramping, and I get frustrated trying to put them together.  Then, just when I think I've got it put together, it pops apart!    I had a little "aha" moment the other day while making them.  So, I thought I would share with you all here!  (A side note: this layout was inspired by a photo of Stephanie Howell's scrap space seen HERE)."  -  Mandie Pierce, Pebbles Design Team Member

Start by cutting two 12" long strips of patterned paper for each rosette.  For the blue one I used 2" wide strips, for the red 1 1/2" wide strips, and for the green 1 1/4" wide strips.

Fold your paper at 1/4" to 1/2" intervals and fold accordian style.  I used a scoring board from Martha Stewart and a bone folder.  However, you could do this with a ruler, as well.

Glue the ends of your folded paper strip together end to end.

Here is where I changed the formula.  Take a paper piercer or sewing needle and poke a hole between each fold on the paper.

Tie a knot at one end of your thread and sew through the holes as shown in the photo above.

I found it was easier to do 2-3 folds at a time.

Begin gently pulling the thread at the needle end and forming the rosette.

Add some liquid glue or mini glue dots to one end and glue the two ends together.  Gently pull the thread to tighten as needed and tie off.  (Not too tight, you'll break the thread.  I did this several times.  Ha!)

Punch two circles out of cardstock.  This will be a base and the front.  It will make the rosette a little sturdier.  Add some glue to each circle and then apply to the rosette.  (Tip: to help the circles stick, I placed a heavy object on top to make sure it dried nice & flat)  Once the glue is dry, you are ready to embellish however you want and use them for your project!

Mix & Match Monday

It's Monday again, which means we'll be mixing and matching some Pebbles products to show you just how well our collections can be used with one another.

"When I pulled this photo of my little girl, I knew the red in her bow would be the focal color on this page. I turned to the Fresh Goods collection due to its playful patterns, and vibrant colors. To soften the page, I was able to match Fresh Goods with the With Love Collection. The colors of the Pebbles collection are vey similar so finding another pattern, or solid from another collection, is so easy to do! I was able to highlight the hearts pattern from the With Love, by layering them underneath the check pattern of the Fresh Goods collection. So pretty, and really helps to create a playful movement throughout my page!" - Suzanne Sergi, Pebbles Design Team Member
