How To Tuesday

“I’ve found that the world of scrapbooking is full of super kind people who like to send you goodies randomly, do giveaways on their blogs, and other such things. I like to send a little something back in return and I always think that something handmade is always a nice gesture to send to somebody. Using some Sunnyside goodies and Candy Dots, I’ve come up with a fun ‘thank you’ gift in the form of a set of handmade embellishments that are super simple to make.”  - Steph Baxter, Pebbles Design Team Member

To begin, punch some circles of patterned paper from your favourite Pebbles papers (I used the Sunnyside 6x6 pad – it’s so useful for projects like this!).

Mark the centre of each circle with a pencil.

Cut each circle into a starburst shape by snipping pieces of it away. You will need to cut just before the centre of the circle, so this is where those pencil marks come in handy.

Add a Candy Dot to the centre of each cut shape.

Adhere the embellishments to a piece of cardstock using a light, removable adhesive.

Add a ‘thank you’ Masking Tape Sticker and Clothes Pin from the Sunnyside collection.

Mix & Match Monday

It's Monday again, which means we'll be mixing and matching some Pebbles products to show you just how well our collections can be used with one another.

"For this week’s Mix and Match challenge I decided to combine 2 of my favorite Pebbles Collection, Sunnysde and Hip Hip Hooray. I thought these lines complemented each other very well, I therefore used the patterned paper from the Sunnyside collection with the embellishments from the Hip Hip Hooray collection.  This resulted in some fun and bright greeting cards.  I hope these will inspire you to combine various Pebbles collections."  - Mel Blackburn, Pebbles Design Team Member

More Cards with Gretchen and Laura

"You can never have too many thank you cards on hand. And the Sunnyside line is perfect for making some bright & cheerful ones! To make these cards I used the Sunnyside 6x6 paper pad for the background patterned papers.  I love the smaller patterns for my cards! Then I cut the sentiments out of the cute "From Me to You" sheet. You can get a lot of sentiments for cards using that one sheet of patterned paper! On the "Thanks a bunch" card I added a couple dimensional flowers to embellish it. Then on the "Thank you" card, I cut flowers out of the "Blossoms" sheet to embellish around it. Easy!"  - Gretchen McElveen, Pebbles Design Team Member

“I love making little card sets for gifts; they are practical and really fun to create. I used the same basic outline for all three of my cards so they came together really quickly. More Cards with Valerie and Pearl

"For this simple, summery card set I layered elements from the Sunnyside collection with some small kraft envelopes from New Addition. I stuck with the aqua/green patterns from the 6 x 6 paper pad for my card bases (the smaller scale of the patters in the 6 x 6 pad are perfect for card making!). I added sentiments cut from the From Me To You patterned paper (both the large and smaller scale versions) and cut apart a border sticker for some cute circle embellishments."  - Valerie Mangan, Pebbles Design Team Member

Theme: CARDS

The theme this week on the Pebbles blog is cards.  I've asked some of our design team members to create cards using their favorite Pebbles products.

"I love making cards in sets of 2 or 3.  Once you have the supplies pulled out to create one card, I figure you may as well do a few more … after all, all the coordinating items are already at your fingertips and if you use a similar design for the cards they really go together quickly!  I made this set of cards with only a few supplies and I love how they turned out.  The “From Me To You” paper has so many great options available for card-making, matched up with the 6x6 pad and a few simple embellishments, I know I could have made a dozen cards and still had plenty of supplies to make more!"  - Wendy Sue Anderson, Pebbles Design Team Member

Sketchy Thursday

For today's edition of "Sketchy Thursday" we asked some of our design team members to create a project based on this fabulous sketch by Becky Fleck.

"When I saw this sketch, I knew right away that I wanted to turn the large corner embellishment into a sunshine. It would make the perfect summer layout with a few bright colours. I chose some of my favourite papers from different lines to create this page."  - Sarah Webb, Pebbles Design Team Member

"I love sketches, I say it all the time but it's true! With a sketch you can create a layout in no time because you don't have to think too much, half of the job is already done! For this layout I kept the overall design of the sketch but I used two photos instead of one and instead of floral embellishments I added some embossed clouds." - Eva Pizarro, Pebbles Design Team Member

Whip It Up Wednesday

"My sister is expecting her first baby (a boy) in August and for her recent baby shower, I created a baby boy gift ensemble using the New Addition Boy collection that could double as shower decorations and nursery decor. And the best part? Each project was very quick and easy to put together! For the printer's tray, I cut the patterned paper to fit the inside and then kept the embellishment simple using the border stickers, dimensional phrases & icons stickers and layered embellishments. All my sister has to do is add a few photos of her new baby boy! The card I created was also simple - just punch squares of patterned paper and arrange. Tie a ribbon around the front and add a dimensional sticker. Finally, I also created a piece of nursery decor that also was a table centerpiece at the shower. I covered the wooden "flower pots" with patterned paper and dry brushed them with white paint. The dowels were painted brown, floral foam in the pots and moss covering them. I punched circles of patterned paper and used corrugated alphabet stickers to spell out "Baby". The circles were hot glued to the dowels and then ribbon tied to the dowels."  - Jill Cornell, Pebbles Design Team Member

I whipped up 2 simple cards for friends with this line and with the sentiment squares paper and 6x6 paper pad they came together very quickly. I trimmed down the banners from the paper pad and made a simple banner from those for one of the cards. A little stitching and all finished!" - Christa Paustenbaugh, Pebbles Design Team Member

How To Tuesday

"Today I'm going to share with you how to create an easy, pull-out money holder, perfect for a birthday card!"  - Ashley Stephens, Pebbles Design Team Member

To create this money holder you will need: standard card base (sized 5.5 x 4"), patterned paper, 1" circle punch, pencil, ruler, ribbon, button, sewing machine, and embellishments.

First, we're going to start out with several pieces of cardstock and patterned paper cut to the dimensions shown on the photograph.

Next, take the small, white piece of cardstock and mark the horizontal center, near the top. With your circle punch, punch out about 3/4s of a circle, using your pencil mark as a guide to help keep it centered.

Take that piece and center it on your 5 x 3.75" piece of patterned paper. You can lightly adhere it or just hold it in place and then sew around every side except the top, taking care to back stitch at the start and end points.

Next, take your smallest patterned paper piece (it should measure 2.5 x 3.5") and test the fit inside the white pocket. If it is too snug, take a little bit off the side until it slides in and out freely. Then, using your craft knife, cut a slit near the top, wide enough for the ribbon you have chosen. Make two more slits near the bottom 1/3 of the paper, wide enough to fit a dollar bill that has been folded in four.
Slide in your ribbon and fold it upwards so both ends touch slightly. Adhere them together. Add a button near the fold to cover it. Add folded money behind the slits you created near the bottom.

Next, embellish the card front as desired!

"I wanted to document the loss of my son's tooth, and what it really meant to him.  Which is of course all about the money! lol  I loved taking the chance to just mix up all my Pebbles product, and use what was going to work for this page and photo's.  I kept things fairly neutral to really let the pictures shine."  - Laura Craigie, Pebbles Design Team Member

"For my quick Summer brag book I mixed several Pebbles lines, including Sunnyside, Hip Hip Hooray, and Fresh Goods. The patterns and colors in all three were perfect to showcase my amusement park photos. The album is comprised of 4 x 6 photos in a simple translucent album. Some of the photos are embellished with strips of patterned paper, sentiments cut from a Hip Hip Hooray paper and stickers - all working seamlessly together. I used lined patterned papers for journaling pages across from some of the photos. Big letter stickers serve as titles on my small layout pages and also on my confetti page. This is a great, quick way to showcase photos from a fun summer event or trip and Pebbles, Inc. offers a great mix of product to make it even easier." - Valerie Mangan, Pebbles Design Team Member

Mix & Match Monday

It's Monday again, which means we'll be mixing and matching some Pebbles products to show you just how well our collections can be used with one another.

"My project today started with my two 4x4 photos. I began with a 12x12 page but just couldn't get a layout I liked - and then I had an epiphany. By cropping everything down to 8.5x11 horizontal, my photos and title fit perfectly! I love how just changing the format sparked my creativity and, because I don't usually use this size, it helped push me out of my comfort zone!"  - Ashley Stephens, Pebbles Design Team Member

"I love to mix and match different collections and my first step was to pick the photos. Then I decided on a color combo and I picked pinks, greens and white. The it was easy finding the perfect papers and embellishments to make my lil idea come to life." - Anna Sigga, Pebbles Design Team Member

More Let Freedom Ring Projects with Lynn and a GIVEAWAY!

"The Let Freedom Ring collection is Americana at it's finest.  I love the combination of the deep red and navy with the bright white and light kraft colors.  I created a pair of cards using the accordion pennants as my main embellishment.  A few banner shapes snipped from my favorite patterned papers and these cards were a snap to put together.  Happy Birthday America!"  - Lynn Ghahary, Pebbles Design Team Member

"I am so excited for a great, new patriotic line! I love the reds and blues in this line and all the patterned papers are perfect! They are very patriotic but also very generic so they could be used for projects beyond 4th of July. What I think I love most in this line, though, are the embellishments. The dimensional stickers and accordian pennants are especially cool! So I tried to use as many of them as possible on these 3 cards! :) Thanks for looking!" - Gretchen McElveen, Pebbles Design Team Member

More Let Freedom Ring Projects with Jill!

Happy 4th of July to all of our US blog readers today!  Here's another Let Freedom Ring project from design team member Jill Cornell to get you in the mood for today's festivities.

"Happy 4th of July! The 4th is one of very favorite holidays and it's a big deal in my small hometown. It's been a lot of fun for me to bring my daughters back to visit my parents and take part in some of the traditions that I did when I was a child. Last year, the girls rode in the kiddie parade for the first time. They were so cute waving at people watching the parade and enjoying a wagon ride. I documented the moment using the brand new "Let Freedom Ring" collection and created patriotic banners to highlight my focal point photo. The banners were easily embellished by a folded paper star and accordion pennant."  - Jill Cornell, Pebbles Design Team Member

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information (including your phone number for shipping purposes) to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Guest Designer Winner" in the subject line.

“It’s no secret that summer is my favorite time of year. It stands to reason that the Fourth of July rates right up there on the Favorite Holidays List. We often spend the weekend with my parents at their cabin in the cool pines. How lucky, right? I love these photos taken there last year, and Pebbles new Let Freedom Ring is pretty much made for them.”  - Kim Kesti, Pebbles Design Team Member

"I LOVE the colors of this line - the blues and reds with the krafts.  Such a fun collection!  I think the font of the Thickers is a new favorite font!  I chose to make a layout about my husband's promotion ceremony.  We have a TON of photos from that day (thanks to the Wing PR guys!) I had to choose just a few.  So, I chose a couple of the kids and myself pinning his new rank on his uniform and one with his boss, who performed the ceremony.  I printed them in a 3x4 wallet size and cut out "instant photo" frames to go around them.  I also cut out 2 extra to fill with pattern paper (& the journaling and title)."  - Mandie Pierce, Pebbles Design Team Member

Product Focus: Let Freedom Ring

With Independence Day just days away it seemed only fitting that we focus on our patriotic themed collection this week: Let Freedom Ring.  With this line, memories become timeless with traditional red, white and blue designs and a classic feel. It's a versatile collection for honoring memories of military service or capturing the fun of hometown parades, picnics and fireworks.

"Three cheers for the USA!  And for red, white, and blue!  And for kids who let their moms dress them up for the celebration!  And for this gorgeous new line “Let Freedom Ring!”  I had so much fun scrapbooking these photos of my little boy… so festive in his red, white, and blue on the 4th of July several years ago.  I love the little touch of glitter I was able to add to my layout with the letter stickers and that awesome little folded star – my favorite embellishment in this collection!  Remember to take lots of pictures on the 4th so you can use this line to create a super patriotic layout too!"  - Wendy Sue Anderson, Pebbles Design Team Member
